Keith's a really interesting and knowledgeable guy, he can go off into great tangets during lectures, but he has a really intriguing class and the workload is as easy as you could hope for.
Fun class, but too many videos! Easy A, you learn cool stuff too.
This is an easy and fun class if you read the book and come to the classes. It is not easy and fun if you do not read the book, in my class right now most people have C's or below because they don't read the book...READ THE BOOK!
Do not take this class if you don't already know a lot about the history of rock & roll. I'm a straight A student, but I had a hard time memorizing the facts from the book because I didn't know anything about rock 'n' roll beforehand.
I took TV course with him. VEry easy. Easy A. Very flexible with assignment submission.
great guy, easy class. more like a cool friend thant a teacher. but can be very very boring when he gets into a deep lecture. easy A, bring a pillow.
If u go to class everyday and watch the videos.. study the study guides.. u'll get an A.. u DONT need to buy the book.. i didn't and got an A
It is my hardest class this semester, I thought I'm gonna pass with A but not C is enough for me. The way he teaches is boring but you can learn different stuffs. There are lots of vocabulary to study. He is a good teacher but lesson is too hard!!

Class was simple. Watch the shows, read, answer questions. Mid/final exams were open notes. Just answer all of the chapter questions and you're notes are complete. Online/TV class. Instructor is easy, but scattered. Difficult to get in contact with. Doesn't answer email in a timely manner. Doesn't return phone calls. But, a very nice guy. Laid back
He's easy, he gives alot of extra credit. I didn't need to buy a book for the class. All the answers are on the study guide (trust me, no knowledge about the topic necessary). Very laid back class.
Pretty easy class--multiple choice tests that are almost entirely from what he says in lecture. It's an easy A, as long as you pay attention in class. A lot of people who took the class with me ended up doing poorly because they slept in class AND never looked at the book. Just do one or the other (or both if you're so inclined) and you'll be fine.
He is a very good, understanding and a reliable teacher. He the 2nd best teacher i have had since my 2years stay in Mission College. I would always recommend him as long as i come across anyone interested in taking a music class to fulfill the requirements for humanities.
One of the funniest teachers at Mission College. Had a D+ on the first test, and a C- on the second test, but ended up with an A at the end of the semester. The midterm and final are really easy, and Keith offers a lot of extra credit. Take him if you need units in the Arts section. Planning to take another class with him.
I really really enjoyed this teacher. I just took him for summer school and he is probably one of the best teachers I've ever had. He'll answer any questions you may have and his tests were fairly easy. I really like this teacher! One of the nicest!
Hippie...which means that class is really relaxed. He definitely likes what he does, but he's confusing as hell when he tries to explain everything. No midterm or final, just 6 tests. Will let you re-do tests to pull up your grade. Attendance not mandatory, but you'll start wanting to go just to figure out what the hell he's talking about.
This has to be the best class ever. He is very laid back, gives no homework and the test are extremly easy. You dont even have to show up to class every week. Just do the study guide, take the test and you'll pass. Easiest grade iv ever gotten! He is also totally cool.
If your looking for an easy A this is the class for you. I only went to class on test days and never read the book and still got a high A. The teacher is very laid back and alittle spacey but he goes out of his way to make sure you pass.
He's is getting harder in grading. He might give low grades too. He's changed maybe because he reads this website!!! He's not too hard though but not as easy as he used to be.
easiest teacher hands down. very cool guy, totally chill. you can tell he's a metal head at heart. he doesnt care if you show or not but his class is actually fun. no homework or quizes or anything. tests are super easy and he tells you the exact questions before hand. the papers are on whatever you want too. A as long as u do them.
First three exams were multiple choice and he gave us the answers while we were taking it.
Johnson is a great teacher, you can tell he loves music and is willing to help IN CLASS. He goes over everything right before tests just to clarify and for the most part is a great guy. THE BAD!: doesnt return email or phone. I missed 2 weeks of class. Attempted to email him and call to keep up but never responded. 5 emails now and no response
This guy seemed fun. But he drifted all over the place. I told him I needed help, but he didnt seem to care. He is also very arrogant. He always talks about his years at "Yale, Harvard, etc" and practically brags about himself and looks down on you. Not very good.
Great online class, extremely easy, great teacher. I loved this class.
NICE teacher, pretty easy class. I never played the piano and had trouble because he speaks so fast and assumes everyone knows what hes talking about - my fault for not speaking up though. Do the book exercises and you'll pass the exams (takes about 5 mintues per week). Nothing hard great class
EASY CLASS - online - just skim the books for the answers for the hw - due every other week and the midterm/final is your answers from the hw. for the midterm just copy and paste, for the final print out your hw and copy it. SUGGEST THIS CLASS IF YOU NEED THE UNITS OR TO SATISFY YOUR GE
Great teacher. Don't take his theory class if you don't want to learn about music, because you'll be miserable--he lets you go at your own pace, and doesn't force you to do tons of work, but you can't not show up and not do any work, either. Very understanding and helpful, and loves music. One of Mission's best teachers.
Johnson is seriously the coolest teacher at Mission. Not only that, but he is SOOOO freakin smart! PHD!!! Anywho, he's funny, laid-back, and inspires anyone who takes his hist. of rock class to listen to different types of rock. I learned so much! We watched VH1 videos a lot and listened to music. How much better can life get? :)
Keith Johnson is a great teacher! He has a great sense of humor and made class enjoyable! I really enjoyed his class and with out a doubt I would take his class again! You do have to study and read up on the material, but it is good stuff! He is the most down to earth teacher MC has! And most important he really cares his students do good!
Took Music 17 over summer. Teacher is very clear with requirements and expectations upfront. Class has a good amount of work. Teacher is available if you need help. Textbook available- [email protected]. Work hard and a good grade will be your outcome
Easy class! Mr Johnson is a cool teacher to have, one of my favorites i have had so far. Quizzes every 2 weeks or so but pretty easy since he goes over it everyday and before test. Take his class! He is pretty funny also.
Chill guy! Take his class.
Very easy teacher helpful :D take this class
Good teacher. Very easy. He really wants his students to succeed. Test are easy. Funny.
Take this class if you want to pass a music class and learn a lil. He's the funniest teacher you'll ever meet and says the most ridiculous stuff. He loves music, and i promise you will see that.
Nice guy. I had him for another class last semester. He is kind of easy and so nice:) Take him if you want a caring, funny teacher who cares about his students. You can defintly tell he does and that he loves what he does:)!
Really nice teacher. Knows his stuff and makes class always fun to attend. Highly recommended!
His class was easy and he is a fun professor. He will tell you what will be on exam and his exam was so easy. He will give you the opportunity to re-take exams at any time, including quizzes, if your grade isn't good. He really want you to be excited about music and want you to have a good grade. Take his class.
very easy, just show up and take notes. tells students what will be on the exams/quizzes
EASY A, very nice teacher and always helps students to get higher grades.
Easy A. A cool and easy going professor. He's passionate when it comes to music. His study guide basically gives out the answers for the tests. Take him.
Keith is an extremely well versed and knowledgable musician and professor. He can go on tangents, but doesn't detract from the class as a whole. His pace while lecturing is lightning fast, however, and can sometimes be hard to follow. If you feel lost, SPEAK UP! He's very good about explaining things in detail when necessary. Grading is forgiving.
Keith Johnson is AMAZING teacher. Very helpful and always there for you!
You do NOT need the textbook. Show up for class first two weeks so you don't get drop. Then, just show up the day of the quizzes. He will go over what is on them before you take them. They are very easy, especially if you play an instrument. Rest of class is just him going over what will be on quiz and repeat so you are not missing anything.
The class is very easy if you have years of experience in music but his quizes have very unclear directions so he will take off points for it.
I took this class for Summer online and it went by like a breeze! At first I was skeptic to take any online classes, but this class is very easy. The online class are just quizzes and test and to get participation, all you need to do is write in the Discussion Forums and talk about what you learned throughout the chapters. TAKE THIS ONLINE CLASS!!
He is very caring and when listening to the music he uploads is awesome
If you are not in music major and looking for credit-only class, this is the class you must take. The professor is funny and hilarious. He knew that people need to pass class for credit so he is super easy. 6 quiz and he gives you the question and answer beforehand so you only need to study with it. He loves music and willing to show it in class.
Took this class online during the winter semester, it was my 1st online class ever. SUPER EASY! The quizzes he gives you are easy AF unlimited tries and you get credit once you get an A on it. Test 3 tries unlimited time. Never read the book, just during the exams. Honestly, if you take this class online you'll be fine.
He review the quiz before you take it. He knows what it is like to be a student. He gives you a very easy time. The easiest class you can possibly take. The most effortless A. It isnt required for attendance but going in to do the quiz is important.
Super easy A. Just do your discussions and take all the study quizzes and you'll be fine for the exams. Exams follows the study quizzes exactly. Great teacher!
If you do all the discussions and exams, the A is yours.
Take this easy class for humanity credit during winter or late start! Discussions are straight forward and interesting. Quizes and tests are all on quizlet. He grades easily and gives you many attempts which you don't really need. Topics could be answered at the top of your head. There is one 4 page essay due at the end, no research needed. 10/10
Easiest class I've ever taken. Doctor Johnson is great, making his material fun and easy to understand. I would like to take more of his classes.
Took this class in the winter. This is hands down the easiest class for a GE requirement. Music he shares is really good to listen to. Discussion post and your essay is mainly about your reflection. Quizzes are on quizlet and the midterms are the same questions as the quizzes.
Took in the winter. Fun and easy class. Textbook is not used as much. Discussion post and essays are mainly based on your thoughts and opinions. Quizzes and exams are easy and you get multiple tries.
Easiest A ever. Make sure you don't skip test, quiz or discussion. Hardest part in this class is writing a report with 4 pages long. Otherwise, easy A.
Best music teacher you'll learn from. Really lightens up the class by sharing songs he found for us to listen to. Lectures are straightforward and mirror the exam. Will go over the practice test before the exam :)
He is a chill, laid-back professor, and easy to talk to. Very accomodating especially with COVID-19. I recommend any of his classes. Even helps if you played a musical instrument :)
Take him, he's amazing! The discussions matter, so make sure to write at least 3 heartfelt responses, and you'll get full credit. Weekly quizzes, 4 tests in all, and a written 4 page paper. The quizzes are all on Quizlet, and the tests are just mixed up quiz questions. The paper was easy, and I got a 100 with no research. Easy A for anyone.
Took him for Music Theory (Music 5) and his Rock and Pop Music online (Music 16). Best professor you'll ever meet. His classes are fun and easy. Shares great music for you to listen to. Really passionate about music. I recommend any of his classes at Mission.
Definitely worth taking. Very passionate about music. He made everything easy and straightforward for you to understand. Goes over the practice test and quizzes beforehand and it's similar to the actual one. Melody project was easy and gave plenty of examples for it. Great professor. Recommend any of his music classes.
Easy online class. Discussions and essays are based on your opinion. Quizzes are unlimited tries and exams are worth 3 tries.
I took it in the Winter semester and it was a breeze. Two discussions and 1 quiz per week. 3 exams and 1 paper at the end which I bs-ed and got an A. You don't even have to read the textbook because you can find all the quiz questions on Quizlet. Questions on the exam come straight from the quizzes. If you need a easy GE, take this class is perfect
Really helpful during the covid-19 pandemic. Gave a practice quiz that is similar to the actual one so you can look back what you did on the practice if you're stuck. Melody project is easy. Look over his examples. You'll get an A if you put the effort.
Dr johnson is super caring and chill! He talks a lot about the curriculum for YOUR knowledge. Take note of everything for quizzes & tests. I will forsure take him again before graduating. Lastly, he is very understanding especially during COVID-19 pandemic
Take him if you have any chance. Unlimited tries on the quiz and the same exact questions. Midterms and final are the same questions as the quizzes.
Composed of 4 Modules. Each has 2 discussions, 2 multiple choice Study Quizzes, and 1 Test. All writing is based on your opinions/musical tastes. Textbook 'What's That Sound?' can be found easily online. Final, which is Test #4, uses same Q's from quizzes. Easy, relaxing class. Module 1: Weeks 1-5 Mod 2: Wks 6-8 Mod 3: Wks 9-11 Mod 4: Wks 12-16
discussion posts and quizzes are really easy. self-paced but there are still due dates. class is overall super easy, take him for a GPA booster/credits.
His Music 16 class is relaxed and flexible. Assignments are based on your reflection and exams are easy. Essay is easy too, also based on reflection.
2 quizzes, 2 discussions, 1 exam per week with a report due at the end of the class. Not much work and a lot of it is found online so this class is an easy A. There is a textbook and the quiz questions are the same on the test.
Dr. Johnson is very kind and very understanding, but don't take that for granted and don't take advantage. He is flexible for the time we had during class (Took him winter 2021) and the class was enjoyable and brought a lot of new knowledge to me! Weekly discussions and proctored quizzes+ exams. Be aware!
Easiest class I've taken in my life. Perfect for a winter class. You have a textbook but you don't really need it. There are a bunch of quizzes, but they are easy and you get unlimited tries on them. There are few discussions which aren't hard either, and 1 project. Overall, a very easy class that is hard to not get an A in.
Very great professor
This was an easy class. Took this class and didn't struggle one bit. his quizzes, midterms, and final are multiple choice which was easy because you could find the answers online and through Quizlet. Discussions and quiz every week.
only took this class for the GE credit. very easy class. there's a paper at the end but you can probably BS it and still get an A lol. even though i took it for the GE credit the material is actually kind of interesting as someone who's interested in music.
Really great class to take if you want an easy A. There's two quizzes and two discussion posts every week but you can 100% find most if not all of the answers for the quizzes on quizlet. The prof is obviously passionate about music and some of the discussion posts were pretty interesting to answer. There's a textbook but you dont have to buy it.
Really easy A. Everything on Quizlet. Tests have 3 attempts with unlimited time. Easiest class ever!
I took both his Music 16 and Music 5 class several years ago. He's a great professor. Very accommodating and showed a lot of commitment to help out students. Great guy to learn music from
It's Impossible to fail this class. Discussions are very engaging, and fun to write about. Learning music history was easy, and he replies fast. Everything everyone says is true. He's just a super chill guy.
Easy professor. Had weekly discussions and quizzes. Very easy to do. You gotta buy a textbook to learn and pass on the quizzes. If you like the history of music, you should take this class. Overall, good professor and easy class to pass.
I took professor Johnson Online class last fall semester which his class is very easy there is a textbook you have to buy online, this class is a must take to get a solid A in for your EDplan at Mission college, I would take another class for him again in the future, I highly recommend his class to take for any semester to get an A 10/10 :).
I took him for the winter course and it might've been the easiest class I've taken in my life. All quizzes are online, and you have unlimited attempts and multiple choice. There are 4 test which consist of 50 questions multiple choice straight from the textbook. He says you have to buy the textbook but I found it online for free on Anna's archive.
Really fun class in my opinion, especially if you love exploring music. The final paper was pretty fun to write (I hate writing), since it was a personal essay!! Quizzes and the final are all open notes so def an easy A. Homework consisted of weekly discussion posts and a quiz.
