Awesome teacher and hot too!
Keith is the best teacher I ever had at KVCC. He likes to teach and loves his students and it shows. He makes writing fun!
Young enough to still be passionate about the subject, old enough to have a vast background to help with all subjects covered. Great "teacher." Rates in my top 3, including Prof's at MSU/KVCC/WMU. Makes you engage in things you didn't think abo
My first professor, and definitely one of my favorites.
He is awesome as a teacher and as a friend, he gives great feed backs on you writings and he brings in gooood food during wokrshops ;)
Keith taught me the meaning of deconstruction. Now nobody can stand to interpret a song, play, poem, etc. with me! Actually, the things I learned in his class have helped me immensely in my directoral skills.
Definitly one of the best professors I've ever had. He makes you feel like more than just a student, and he engages himself in class discussions and makes workshops a lot of fun, GREAT TEACHER!
great instuctor and very fun to be in his class. I learn to penly debate in teams without fear.
He's one of the best teachers I've ever had, engages you in deep thinking, keeps the class interesting and makes you think outside the box. I highly reccomend taking one of his courses... :)
Great teacher, I dont like english and i still like the class. Gives great feedback and is funny.
If your dreading this class, take Keith, he is pretty good, although I only got a 3.5, i had to do my final paper on lesbian study and that was the worse. Make sure u READ assignments and highlight and write all over your book (he will check) He is funny, u wont be bored. brings pizza to workshops. he lives up to your expectations not the other way
Great teacher! Has great passion in getting everyone involved.
Great teacher! Class is very interesting and fun. He has his rules that you need to follow, but they are not that bad. If you follow them you will do great in the class! He made his class very comfortable for the students as well (as far as speaking and sharing opinions).
Very fun and outgoing teacher. Laidback, has some rules but easy to follow. Great teacher!! Take him!
He was really easy as long as you attend class. he doesn't have a point system he just knows you by ur attendance. He gives free Pizza everytime you have a peer group reading.Really fun and outgoing.
If you like rules and structure, Dr. Kroll, PhD (he prefers) is the guy for you. He assigns alot of work and it is all graded to the .01%! Oh, just don't bring up soccer or Catherine Zeta Jones, he goes into a rant
Very easy during summer semester. Not graded on right or wrong as long as you've done the written requirements for each assignment your good, but homework is very time consuming
If you are a conservative Republican tired of all those liberal professors trying to open your mind, this class is for you. Keith loves to talk politics and mourns the loss of W. Bush. If you want a good grade, mention Sarah Palin for president! oh, yeah, he are good at teaching riting to.
Great professor. Happy to help and is able to make class interesting and entertaining. Participation is definitely required to do well. As long as you have a good sense of humor you will enjoy this class.
DO NOT take this class if you don't like reading. Very boring...you must read 20+ pages before class everyday and write 250 word responses...its more of a book club than a class. Don't recommend
Keith is a thinker's teacher with a Socratic pedagogy that engages and inspires. Does not insult with boring droning about punctuation and structure, but rather focuses on content, themes, and critical analysis. Grades based on effort and analysis. TAKE HIS CLASSES IF YOU WANT TO LEARN HOW TO ENGAGE IN INTELLIGENT DISCUSSIONS.
I had Kroll for ENG 110 (College Writing I) and ENG 250 (Literary Interpretation.) He is an awesome teacher, and always willing to help and critique. He helped me a lot with my writing, and my writing skills have improved a lot after taking his classes. I very highly suggest taking at least one class with him!
He is an amazing teacher, a funny guy, and really helps you develop your writing skills. I would recommend him to anyone who has to take a writing class. You need to show up and participate to do well in his classes.
He doesn't forget where he came from and has an open mind to all types of writing. Very AWESOME instructor.
Solid prof. Gives you a 4.0 if you do all your work. Lots of reading and he wants class involvement so you can't just snooze off in class.
Excellent instructor, awakens student to inner strengths to be used in all classes. Fair to all, do the work get the grade. Brings out skills to be used for a lifetime. Excelent instructor.
Keith is my favorite professor at KVCC. He leads interesting discussions and respects the intellect of his students. He's also really funny. If you do the work, you'll get an A, and learn a lot.
First week I couldn't stand him. By the end of the semester he was my favorite teacher. This guy is REAL.
One of my all time favorite teachers. He seems tough, but he genuinely cares for his students, he just doesn't suffer fools who don't care enough about their grade to level with him on it. It's English so expect reading and writing (c'mon, don't be silly) but if you make an effort and do the homework you'll get a great grade. He's worth it.
I loved having him as a professor! He is quirky and keeps you thinking. I laughed a lot in his class, but also learned more than I had expected. Not your usual beginner course, but well worth the extra work involved. Taking him for English 110 because I enjoyed the class so much:)
Keith is a great teacher who genuinely cares about his students. He wants everyone to succeed but also understand proper grammar. As long as you show up to class, participate, and do your reading you will be fine. He likes to make his students think as well as hear their opinions.
Best English teacher I have ever had. I want him for all of the English classes, which will be a lot because that's what I'm majoring in.
If I could chose all of the tags provided, I would. Keith Kroll is a tough grader, assigned a TON of homework, expects a lot from his students, and has truthfully changed my life. We worked specifically on American Environmental writing this summer and his teaching style is very different. A lot of student interaction. Would take 100 times again.
He is so passionate about the subject, gives amazing reading material, and we have awesome discussions in class every day. He is a little strict, but I learned so much from him.
Dr. Kroll is really passionate about American Lit. Get ready to read! Books are interesting! Response paper for every book. GO TO CLASS! You discuss the books! Very opinionated and passionate about the material.
He's intelligent, fair and obviously passionate about literature. I took a literature class with him and it was one of the best classes I've had here. The books he picked were fantastic and he didn't mark down papers because he liked your opinion.
Awesome class with a professor who knows exactly what he's talking about. Definitely the best class I've taken at KVCC.
Literary Interpretation was a ton of fun every day thanks to Dr. Kroll. He knew all of the material and more very well.
He knows a lot about what he's talking about and explains it all very well. He also seems like a pretty chill person.
Awesome professor! He's really cool and loves his job. When you're an undergrad, it's somewhat intimidating to be there. However, participate! You will find it good for you and he likes active participation. He gives great constructive criticism on your writing and will help you when you need it.
I would take another class taught by him if I could. There are a lot of novels to read and write about for this class, but it's worth it. He gives a lot of constructive comments on everything, so you will know how to improve your writing and he loves to discuss things after class or during office hours; take advantage of that.
Very unique teaching style. The class was very well done and I would definitely try this class again.
One of the best professors I have ever had! Enthusiastic about the material and invested in his students. Be ready to work, but it's worth it in the end.
He is one of the smartest professors i have ever met. People love him and hate him for the same reasons. If you are serious about ideas and learning he is your man, if you are just looking to coast through he is not for you. He is great.
Keith is a compassionate and professional professor. His energy level and enthusiasm for his lectures has the capability of interesting students in subject matter they may previously have not found interest in. Keith is thorough and dedicated to his detailed feedback on assignments. His grading practice is hard, but very fair and he's approachable.
Keith is the best teacher on campus. Always funny, smart, and engaging, but never in your face. Demanding reading schedule, but very rewarding if you even get through half of it. Best class of my entire undergrad.
Keith was a really good teacher and even though there was a LOT of work it was taught very well.
This class sounded okay before I got into it, but having Keith as a professor makes it so much more interesting than I had expected it to be. He is super nice and understanding and he really cares about his students.
He will push you to your limits and is very open-minded. He's always interested in what you have to say, and you will learn a great deal about life from him. Anyone who takes his course is very lucky.
He made the class interesting and fun. He really knows what he is talking about. He is the type of professor who will push his students and you will thank him in the long run!!! He is always willing to help!!
Keith seems very easy to get along with, the reading assigned for the week is TREMENDOUS! He will assign a paper a week before it's due.
He is the most influential figure in my college career and provided me the inspiration, precise feedback, and overall encouragement I needed. He is extremely knowledgeable and I take his advice seriously. Keith is wonderful for students who are serious about their work but still entertained the class.
Hilarious teacher who showed us a few videos in class. Vulgarity mentioned in comment beforehand is negligible due to the rare occurrence of it and situations in which it was used. Taking class with him again next year and looking forward to it greatly.
He's brilliant. He takes time for each student. His comments are really good and thoughtful. I learned more from him than any writing teacher so far.
Great teacher! I highly recommend taking any course with him. He is clear and very helpful with your papers.
The best writing teacher I have ever had. Clear in everything he says. He makes sense and is very intelligent, and knows what he is talking about. Highly recommend. Doesn't focus on lecturing endlessly either, which makes the class more interesting. Well cultured, good tastes.
Amazing teacher in just about every way!
One of the best professors I have ever had! Dr. Kroll is kind, helpful, and very passionate about literature. I recommend him 10 times out of 10.
Great professor! He is extremely helpful and easy to reach if you have questions. Lots of reading, but the majority of the books are pretty interesting!
Dr. Kroll is truly amazing! He is very understanding, helpful, and cares about his students. It is nice to have a professor that cares so much about their students' life and education. Great teacher all around! Must take him before graduating! Best professor KVCC has by far!
Keith Kroll is a fantastic professor with an AMAZING life story. If you ever get to just ask him about his life DO IT! I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend having him in at least one course before you graduate!
Dr. Kroll is one of the top professors I've ever had. For those truly committed to becoming a teacher I highly recommend him. He will teach AND inspire you.
Best course I've taken at KVCC by far! Great teacher! Highly recommend him!
Keith is a very entertaining instructor. I loved his energy and passion for his career. I highly recommend him as a professor!
He is a very enjoyable professor. He keeps his students involved by having us interact in the classroom with debates and other fun topics.
He is an amazing teacher and the class is awesome!
Great class. Very interesting. Loved everything about it.
Love him. Take this class.
A little more work than most gen eds, but if you're really into the subjects it doesn't even feel like work. If you're really serious about getting a well-developed view take this class with him. You won't regret it.
Keith is absolutely incredible. Definitely one of the best professors I've ever had. I was SO privileged to have been in this class. I learned so much.
Keith is amazing at his job.
Absolutely, by far, the best professor I have had at KVCC and this class has reassured me that teaching writing is right for me. Very good with response/evaluation, as well as giving opportunities as far as future employment.
Keith is a great teacher and I'd recommend him to anyone. I learned more in his class than all of my years of grammar lessons combined.
Keith is a great professor. He is the best I've had at KVCC. He cares about his students and a great guy in general. All his classes are very useful.
Keith was an amazing teacher. I have never had such a great class where the professor actually prepares you for your career. If you have the opportunity, take this class!
He is a great teacher, definitely the best all year. He is helpful and doesn't butcher your writing. He is easy to get along with and is always willing to help.
Very interesting personality, encouraging and helpful. Good about holding office hours. Organized and efficient. Your writing will definitely improve under his direction!
Keith is a very cool teacher. He knows his material and is very interesting to listen to. There is a moderate amount of assignments along with about 6 papers. However, he is not a hard grader. He realizes that this is the first writing class for many freshmen students and therefore wants the transition from high school to college to go smoothly.
Awesome teacher, knows his stuff well!
Very intelligent, friendly, and passionate about teaching. There is a lot of reading and 6 papers, but he is willing to help students.
Your grade reflects your work ethic and comprehension. You will learn about literature in this class, period. Papers are graded critically, but the class is a requirement for English majors. Great lecturer and a genius for the subject. Take his topics class on American Lit. It's amazing!
Keith is the best professor I've ever had. In the classroom, he did a great job at creating an atmosphere in which everyone's opinion is considered. I learned a lot, and I would definitely say that, if you want to learn and discuss American Literature, you should take his class.
I've had Dr. Kroll three semesters and he's great, all you have to do is find him after class and he will help with ANYTHING. Anyone looking to take this class, simply study any and read your book, because Dr. Kroll likes these questions and refuses trick questions in such a tough subject.
Keith Kroll is a very smart professor, and is rather funny. However, a lot of work must be put in outside of the class. 95% of the classes consist of short reading responses due at the start of class. He works very quickly and is rather hard to keep up with if you miss too many days.
I go back and forth on if I liked Keith or not. When you needed help, he was willing. I did not agree with the way he grades sometimes. You will definitely have to work in this class, and put in the time
He will call on you during class so be prepared, he might make fun of you for taking too long to answer the question.
He is not an easy professor but very solid at teaching what you need to know. Although each class may not be fun just by copying down his notes from lecture exactly you should at least get a B. I've had him before and believe I would fair better if most professors taught in a manner similar to his.
He knows his material and breaks it down easily. If you take the time to study the material, you should be successful.
The guy is a genius. He is very helpful, super passionate, and all around awesome. I've taken 3 classes with Dr. Kroll, and am enrolling for a 4th.
One of the best professors I have ever had! Dr. Kroll is kind, helpful, and very passionate about literature. I recommend him 5 times out of 5.
Read the spark notes and you'll be fine though. 2 papers and 1 exam accounts for most of your grade, It's not a bad class to take, he's a cool enough guy. Just keep track of your absences.
The material is the most boring ever, but h'es pretty nice and forces you to participate in discussions even if you don't want to. He answers his emails quickly too which is nice. Don't take this class for fun though because it's reading intensive
You have to read everything. But he's a really nice guy and is always willing to help. He's fair. I learned a lot from him. I enjoyed the class and would take another course with him.
A LOT of reading, but he is fair. Easy grader when it comes to papers, but you HAVE TO come to class because more than 1 absence drops you down a full grade.
One of the most hilarious and helpful professors I've had in college. Sure there is reading and papers to type, but that's english in college. Great guy and an overall great class, very hard to not get a 4.0 as long as you show up and do the assignments. Laid back guy that you don't mind getting up at 8am to spend time hearing.
Good teacher. Expect a big work load!
Harder than I expected, but overall he's a great instructor. Meet his contract and you'll do fine.
Very understating and a great professor, if you're planning on going to Education, this is the guy you want to have as your teacher. I took about three courses with him and all of his classes take a lot of hard work and participating to achieve a B or better.
Bright, funny, and awesome!
Love him... one of my favorites!
He's a nice guy, pretty goofy, but his class is hard. You must read the book when he assigns it if you want to do well. Attending his lectures aren't absolutely necessary, but the discussion labs are. Just read the book and take notes as you read, and study those, and you'll be fine.
The best prof. I've ever had! Really intelligent and funny! If you lack brain cells, however, don't take his classes.
It's a challenging class. It is not necessary to go to every lecture, but be sure to attend the labs- they are crucial in your understanding of the material. Lectures DO help on exams- but he often gets carried away. NOT an easy A, exams are pretty difficult.
Amazing professor, one of the best I've had at KVCC. I had him for American Lit. I and not only does he know his stuff inside and out, but he also knows how to explain it. He really strives to make sure you understand the material. He's really chill and really patient. He's on your side.
He is really focused and clear. I absolutely loved both classes. Just generally a great guy.
Tests are very easy in this class, and he grades them so everyone seems to do well.
Awesome instructor. Tests are pure essay, but are not graded too harshly. Class is never really boring, and you can pass while reading the books.
Outstanding Instructor and thesis adviser.
Truly one of the best professors I have ever encountered. HE IS THERE FOR STUDENTS. He is warm and funny, and he knows his stuff inside out. He is exceptionally good at responding to students in class, his lectures are clear and concise. He is one I will always remember.
I thought his class was boring, but somehow also found some things interesting that I never really cared for before. Take the time to work on the exam reviews. They are the exact same questions you will see on the test. No joke. I recommend taking 2-3 days working on it, and visiting him during office hours.
Best professor I've ever had. He actually cares about his students! Some people think he's tough, but it's tough love, he tries so hard to push his students to do and most importantly WANT to do well. I've learned the most from him (had him in Geog1000 as well) and will attribute a great deal of my writing success to his class. TAKE HIS CLASSES.
Even though the material was very dull and hard to get through, he is one of my favorite professors. Really loves teaching and honestly wants to just improve your knowledge. Boring class but AMAZING professor. Tests are hard and a TON of writing, but it's worth it. I can attribute most of my writing growth in college to him.
This class was a lot of work, but it also was the best class i ever took. I think everyone should take this class to benefit themselves, i never realized how much I didn't know until i finished this class. Great teacher. Funny. Hands out weird china gifts if you do well on exams. Plus everything on the study guide is on the exams word for word.
He surely has a sense of humor! Attendance isn't mandatory but he makes comments in his lectures that do appear on the exams.
He helps me with papers in his office hours. Let me come in and take a test during office hours so I didn't have to take two exams on the same day. Textbooks needed especially the how to do research one because it isn't taught in class.
Dr. Kroll is one of the best professors I have ever had. He genuinely cares about his students and wants them to understand the information. His class is challenging, but he is always willing and available to help. If you do poorly in his class it's your fault. Attend class and don't get caught texting! I would highly recommend him as a Prof!
Old fashioned but know his material and breaks it down easily. If you take the time to study the material, you should be successful.
Very smart and nice guy. Very good teacher.
I've had him for U.S. Lit. I and II and II He's not the easiest (unless he teaches it in the summer) but he is a very nice guy and will work with you.
This man is a good teacher and didn't expect you to know things he hadn't taught you.
This class is great because the only test is the final, the rest is participation in discussion and the in class writing assignments. He thinks that he's funnier than he is, but he's pretty laid back and easy going.
Keith is a nice enough guy and is generally interested in the opinions of his students. To be honest, I didn't see the whole "genre" aspect of his class but he does know what he's talking about when it comes to literature. My advice: ALWAYS DO THE READING AND FORM AN OPINION!
Very worldly and fun to listen to. You must be prepared for every class; there's little room for slacking. He is actually interested in what his students have to say-talk to him during office hours! There aren't many opportunities for points so take advantage of them while you have the chance. Loved this class; would definitely take again.
Keith is a good professor and is very knowledgable in English. I personally didn't like the readings he chose for the semester and thought that the genre he chose wasn't one that many of the students enjoyed. Great guy. Boring class
Amazing Professor and extremely intelligent! Knew what he was talking about and made things very interesting! Highly recommend this course!
He gives quite a bit of background history on the texts and authors, which can get boring, but grades really fair and is extremely willing to help you. He extends his office hours to work with your schedule and is quite the character to talk to. He made everyone get to know everyone so the class discussions were phenomenal!
Good prof. He grades papers pretty average. I'm a very experienced writer and got A-'s on most. Lots of class discussion, make sure to at least glance at the assigned readings for a particular day. Everything in the course is clear; it's pretty straightforward. He's very amicable and constantly encourages students to attend his office hours.
I absolutely loved this class and him as a Professor - I'm taking him again next semester. He is a tough grader when it comes to papers but he is always happy to give you feedback on papers before you turn them in. Definitely have to do the reading as much of the class is discussion based. I learned so much more than just the stories - great class!
Good professor, very nice and cared about the students. It was made up of 3 large papers and 5 in-class responses, on top of class discussion. Grades a bit tough, and sometimes the class felt like a history course, but it was an alright class. He has some outlandish choices in literature and articles, though. Avoid if you don't like reading + disc.
Great guy. Understands that life happens if you have to miss class. Great feedback on papers/assignments. Adjust to his feedback and participate in writing consultant groups when available and you'll ace your final portfolio. He has an awkward sense of humor but it's funny. Best class I had all semester.
Dr. Kroll is great. Very good with students and easy to talk to. Gives solid feedback on your papers and genuinely cares about his students. Would highly recommend taking his course!
Keith is an incredible professor. I would highly, highly recommend taking a class with him. You'll laugh a lot and learn more than you expected.
Keith is one of the best professors I've ever had. He's hilarious and always keeps the course interesting. Go to class everytime and do the homework and you'll get an A. This was the only class I've ever had that I actually looked forward to going to.
Always there to help, assignments aren't hard if you have a computer. accepts late assignments within reason. Doesn't expect you to know things and works off of what you know/need to learn. I would definitely recommend him to everyone I know.
Dr. Kroll is great! He really knows his stuff and teaches the material well. Very helpful and always available during office hours for questions or concerns at your convenience.
This class was odd. The class was such that Keith had to do as little as possible. You can waive your exams, so he doesn't have to grade, and every assignment (there are many) is credit or no credit so he doesn't have to read. We also watch one documentary per week. This is fine, but it seems like students do a lot while he does very little.
Funny- encourages students to get out of their comfort zone. Safe environment to practice communication skills for students who have issues speaking in front of other students.
Loved the class, great professor, very willing to help if you have trouble.
Best teacher I have ever had. Would take again in a heartbeat.
Keith Kroll is an amazing professor and teaches his students to become better educators and people. I feel more prepared to be a teacher after this class and feel so lucky to have had him. Though it is challenging and most students do not receive A's, he provides so much more than GPA boost. Definitely recommend.
He is the best professor around and he helps everyone. His lectures are really awesome. He is one of the kindest and best professor at KVCC.
Keith Kroll has very high expectations, but also gives clear feedback. I think this class was practical and useful, but also very stressful. Don't wait until the last minute to work on your unit plan!
It doesn't get better than Keith Kroll! He establishes a great classroom atmosphere and day one, and enlightens students each and every day. He tells you the truth about things, not sugar coated versions of what people want you to think. It was a LOT of hard work, but you come out of this class more prepared as a profession and as a human being.
Which one? (A) Hard, tough, difficult? (B) Inspiring, funny, nice guy? (C) All of the above Answer: (C)
You need to read everything he assigns. If you do that you will learn alot alot!!
I like his ENERGY in our class. Its a late class, so we need his power. He also uses exercise to wake studnets up.
He teach you to learn not just about writing but about yourself and life. You learn to "look inside you." He's great I think.
You need to follow his directions and you will do great!
We are always surprised at how fast he return our papers and homeworks. It great--you get immediate feedback and LEARN!!
He is seriously the best teacher I have ever had. He is very entertaining and helpful. Not to mention he is one fine teacher. He has an amazing personality and will go any length to help you with your papers. I love him to death and HIGHLY recommend him to anyone!!! I honestly don't think that I will ever encounter a teacher better than him.
Extremely helpful and very intelligent. Has high standards but uses that to help his students to aim high. Highly recommended for those in the ENG major.
Very complex course for a 8 weeks session. He did a really good job fitting everything into the time we had. There was a midterm and final paper. He was a very hard grader on both things, however, he does help out a lot! I would definitely recommend him for capstone, but for a full term. You will get more out of the course with more time.
A terrific professor. Not necessarily easy, but he maximizes learning, helps lots, and is everything a great teacher should be.
Keith Kroll is an amazing prof. He was hilarious. He respected everyone. He almost never lectured. His class was the best English class I've ever had. Don't settle for a boring English prof. Take Keith Kroll instead.
Best prof in the world. If all other teachers were like him, the world would be a better place. Sounds cheesy, but it is completely true.
Keith Kroll is awesome as a person and as a professor. I have learned so much relevant information that I can use in my own classroom. You will work very hard and be stressed, but in the end it is well worth it.
One of the best professors in the English department!
I loved him. He is very nice and gives great feedback on assignments. There are no exams, so it is a fairly low-stress class as long as you don't procrastinate on the final project. The final project is something that i will use in my teaching career. Take him.
Keith Kroll is great! He is very knowledgeable and his course is interesting. He is understanding and easy to contact outside of class. I loved this prof and recommend him to everyone.
Keith Kroll is a VERY high quality professor. Makes you feel really prepared. Good assignments, little homework throughout the semester. A big project at the end of the semester, however. Make sure you work on it before the week it is due. Really knowledgeable and likes to try new tactics in the classroom to teach.
You leave his class with great ideas to take to your own classroom and feeling very prepared. Great prof. Nice guy too.
I highly recommend this Prof. Every class is geared towards actually being in your own classroom. Assignments are practical and useful. His expectations are high because he hopes you also hold high expectations for your own students. This is how they learn!
TAKE HIM! So easy and made class and the papers so much easier to want to go to and write.
Great Professor classes are easy and helpful.
Keith Kroll was my absolute favorite. I loved how personable he was and that had a sense of humor. Deffinately recommend his class to any incoming freshman, or anyone needing this course. He was extremely helpful and clear about what he was looking for.
This class was great, he played on the level of students. I would recommend taking this class! He was not judgmental at all when reading papers with topics that would normally be frowned upon. Take this class! Keith Kroll is great and helpful always!
Absolutely loved this prof. He is very nice and helpful. He goes out of his way to get to know you and is honestly interested in helping you become a better writer. He likes to joke around and it makes class much easier to handle. Always open to questions. Totally recommend him.
Keith Kroll definitely gave you the information necessary to pass the class, and prepared useful tips that were helpful in creating solid papers. However, if you were already a fairly proficient writer yet wanted to improve as a writer, this seemed to be out of his realm of instruction.
He's kind a cartoon character come to life. On one hand, he loves literature and can facilitate college-level discussion. On the other hand, he's almost TOO quirky that it becomes distracting or tiresome. Do not take if you are a poor writer or feel inexperienced analyzing texts. All in all he's okay but I wouldn't take him again.
Overall, I was impressed with this professor. He does have a tendency to grade papers rather harshly, but students have opportunities to make revisions. He is very enthusiastic and animated. Therefore, I found his class to be entertaining at times. Overall, Dr. Kroll is a great guy and is always willing to help students.
I am in love with the teachings of this man! He is by far the best English professor that I've ever had. He is interesting and so inspiring that he makes 1 hour, 50 minutes fly by and makes me wish that I had his class everyday-all day. He has so much knowledge and really inspires great conversation. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN, AS MANY TIMES AS YOU CAN!
This guy is one of the best profs I've ever had. He is so funny and interesting. He is very polite to students and very interested in what everybody has to say. If you can take his class, I would hands down. I learned so much, not just about the subject, but about life as well. His lectures are thought provoking and interesting.
After a whole semester I still don't know what I think of this guy. He tries to sound like everyone's going to fail if they don't start their final papers the first day. I still can't tell if he's a genius or just pretends to be, but hey, at least he's interesting.
He's a really nice guy, but I don't think he's a very good professor. He seems to know a lot about the subject but doesn't really convey the information to the students. He's an incredibly difficult grader, and that is very frustrating since there aren't many grades in the class. He does let you revise papers. I wouldn't recommend him.
Keith Kroll was overall a great professor, but you need to be ready to read an to read deeply because the material for this class was difficult at the best of times. For the amount of credit you get though, it's totally worth it. He is easy to understand, although he does tend to get louder the longer he talks.
Keith is very knowledgeable in his field. However, I often felt lost in his assigned readings. The class seems to jump around a lot and I had to consult the class description to understand the underlying connections between the texts he assigned. He's a nice guy, but he's forgetful and unsympathetic.
Keith is a good professor and is very knowledgeable in English. I personally didn't like the readings he chose for the semester and thought that the genre he chose wasn't one that many of the students enjoyed. Great guy. Boring class.
Keith is very passionate about the reading and topics he brings in to class. He encourages office visits and is easy to get in contact with if you can't. Great discussions have been had in class.
He loves it when you go to his office hours to talk about your life and is known for giving books away. If the class is a good one, he creates this amazing open atmosphere to allow students to bounce ideas and he just sits back and lets you discuss your views. Incredible professor.
Keith is absolutely incredible. He has a fun accent, and I promise he doesn't look as creepy as the picture. He encourages class discussion & participation and apparently grades us on it, but at the end of the class allows you to write an essay about why you didn't do well & your reflection. He loves hearing your thoughts. Easy A.
Kroll is the man! took a summer class at KVCC, Kroll made it so that every class was fun and engaging.
Keith is awesome! I hate English but I enjoyed going to his class. There is lots of reading writing and quizzes but all of them are easy. He is so funny and actually helped improve my writing.
Excellent at answering your questions and giving you help when it is needed.
He is my favorite professor. He encourages you to explore your field of study and subjects you are interested in. He is very understanding and is always willing to help. I loved that you get the grade at the end. It takes a lot of the pressure off throughout the semester.
The reason I've switched to an English major.
Lots of reading, seven books, papers are due every Monday and quizzes every class. If you don't read or show up to class, you will not pass. Tough grader and does not use moodle or really any kind of grading system, so its tough to know your grades.
Fabulous teacher. He is such a rebel about education -
I had him Winter 2017. Keith doesn't use moodle, but if you need your grade, go to his office. He's cheeky, to say the least. Say something to surprise him, he's a jokester. We did a crapload of reading, and papers on it. Also, sharing your paper, you don't share, you don't get points. Show up or you lose credit. Wait to buy the books as well.
Literally the best prof. I have ever had. Extremely personable. Cannot miss deadlines!! Plenty of time to complete work. Great class.
Overall great teacher. Hilarious. Relates to students and knows when stuff is stupid and work is uncalled for. Need to get all of the books. Be ready to read, quizzes are detailed questions. Cannot make up any work which can hurt your grade. You do the same thing in class everyday but I would take him again.
he is tough grader. you really have to write papers again and again to gain marks. nothing is posted on moodle, so you wont be able to track your marks. Although its true that he gives one sheet with your marks on it, but the game changes in final. if you want to gain knowledge, definitely tale him; but if you want to gain marks then avoid him.
Amazing teacher. He's cute too. He's a freak about punctuation but it's fun.
Good guy but as a professor, he has problems. No grades you can check like Moodle, instead a weird grading contract thats hard to follow, easy to fail and leaves your grade ambiguous for most of the semester. He will want you to rewrite papers but wont tell you what you did wrong and only gives 1 try. Not the class if you want clear grade criteria.
He is the worst professor ever. Literally you will write papers every single day. No grades will ever be posted. Hard to met the contract. Been doing the same literally since the class has started! When you ask him for help it seem as though he doesn't want to help or explain, just goes throughs the stuff very fast. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Keith seems like he's going to be hard, but he's really a good teacher. You write 1 paper the entire semester, and you "workshop" fellow students papers outside of class (which can be time consuming). This class could be difficult if you don't do you work, but you are easily able to 4.0 if you show up and your assignments on time.
I did everything I was told to do but I guess it wasnt good enough. I thought I was going to get a 4.0 the whole semester and I checked my final grade and it was a 3.0. Do not recommend. Hes a nice guy but the way he grades is a no.
Kroll has NO tolerance for slackers. If you are intelligent, pay attention, and do your work you will pass. People that don't succeed are often disrespectful and spend more time whining then actually participating. His classes are great for sharing ideas and getting unique perspectives. Quizzes are easy if you read and Papers are easy if you care.
funny, great to get along with, great conversations on class papers
Keith Kroll, a hilarious and engaging instructor, does an exceptional job making his students better writers. In his ENG 160 (College Writing & Research) class I finally learned how to be a competent writer and reader. Participation in this class is absolutely vital.
Pop Culture studies with Kroll was a terrible course. If you do not participate in discussions in class every day, you will fail his class. If you lose points on assignments, he gives no feedback so its impossible to know what you did wrong for next time. He also tries way to hard to be funny and just comes off as irritating.
Keith is one of the most sarcastic teachers I've ever had, but he does a good job at rephrasing the question so you understand. This is a book heavy course, and you are constantly writing, but it's worth it. If you do the readings and your homework, you'll easily pass.
Keith was an awesome professor for ENG160. Attendance is key to passing but that wasnt to much of a hassle because he was fun and engaging. He knows what hes talking about and he is there to teach you not test you which I believe is key in college. The class was an easy A if you want it!
Terrible.
My first English class here! It was so fun and always made me wanna get out of bed and learn. Keith is always nice and he is funny.
Keith is a fantastic professor who is not only hilarious with his light-hearted humor, but is extremely knowledgeable. He encourages deep processing of any subject via active/critical reading and creating concept maps. Class discussion and participation are vital! Complete all of assignments on time and put effort into them and you will pass!
Keith was by far the best prof I have ever had! Really wants his students to succeed! He has a very interesting way of teaching and I loved it. Not for everyone though so just beware. If you would prefer to just write a paper every week for credit instead of debating and discussion, not the class for you but I LOVED every moment of it! Pass/Fail
Great prof. really cares about his students!
Really good teacher for a first time student. He pushes you to do better than you think you can but also lets you work on yourself rather than his giving you step by step instructions. This was my first class with him. This class has one paper but you rewrite a bunch ( like 15) times. He genuinely cares and wants you to succeed.
class is bases off of one research paper but you read and workshop everyones papers in the class so thats where the reading comes into play. He wants you to do well and is honest but also mindful of what he says. a good teacher in my opnion.
Dropped me 40 points for not being in class during a snowstorm when my car got stuck in the snow. School even closed later that day and he still kept the points off. Dropped immediately.
Keith is an amazing guy and professor. He has a great personality and cares that you succeed in his class. He makes things fairly easy on his students because he know your whole life isn't school. I would highly recommend taking one of his classes. Best prof I've ever had by far!
Pretty clear and concise with teaching methods, really enjoyed his realness.
Kroll's class was heavy on discussion and participation. I found the class discussions to be fun and engaging. I highly recommend the class to anyone willing to step outside of their comfort zone.
Keith Kroll is a professor for you if you're ok stepping out of your comfort zone and into a discussion. He keeps his students engaged, educated, and thinking deeper about things that we may not even consider. Attendance is important but communicate with him, he's reasonable. From Smith and Cod to Thoreau and Poe, highly recommend this course.
Disorganized. This professor does not seem to care much about student concerns when it comes to grading and turning in assignments. Does not allow any leverage when absent, including sick days. Discussions were fun though.
He posts the syllabus almost a full month before class starts and is very precise with how he will be grading. He encourages students to participate in class discussion (which is also required), and pushes for critical thinking. He is very passionate about the literature, and it shows. Super funny guy.
Keith's teaching style is surely different from most, but you can definitely adapt to it. Frequent quizzes, but they are short and serve as a way to gauge your reading comprehension on the most recent material. Lots of writing, nothing high pressure. Discussions are always enjoyable and are definitely the best part of class. Participation matters.
He needs to take politics out of the classroom. (expressly hostile to conservative viewpoint)
The professor has a unique teaching style, but engaging with it pays off. Stay on top of readings, participate in discussions, and use resources like Unstuck ai for study prep. Workload is manageable if you put in the effort.
