this is his first semester teaching so he's till working on the interesting part but he is an extremely nice guy and very very helpful you approach him. He's the first teacher I think I've had that actually cares (or at leasts pretends to). He's awesome! Very easy class but must go due to a daily quiz grade.
he's a great teacher. very helpful and his notes are very through. book was good for additional help. test were easy. but class attendence was necessary to get your daily quiz grade.
I have taken him for 301 and I am taking him again for Psyc 322-cognitive processes. He is a great professor. I enjoy going to his class. He doesn't require a book. His tests aren't that difficult. If you go to class and study his lecture notes you can easily get an A. He is one of the best professors I have ever had. Very interesting and funny. Al
Not only is this professor funny, very knowledgeable about what he's teaching, and smart, he has a hot body. Seriously, there's like a daily quiz so you have to go to class everyday to get that grade, but I wanted to go to class because he is a good looking man. Besides that, I did learn a lot and the class was great.
My favorite professor ever.
Dr. Lyle is great. He knows how to keep class interesting and is great at connecting abstract concepts with real life experiments. He knows so much about his field too and has so much experience. I definitely recommend him.
Lyle is a great professor. There is no text for his class, which is really nice. He post detailed notes online before each class, but you have to go because he gives a quiz at the end of every class. He's really nice and he does a great job making stats as interesting as possible. Overall he's just a great professor!!
This guy is great. Quizzes at the end of class are annoying but very few instructors can make statistics fun. This class is really easy but more importantly you actually learn the material. UofL needs more instructors like him.
Hot man...love him, thats why i attended class but great prof. knew what he was talking about unlike most people. :)
Easiest class ever, test questions come right from the slides and he posts them online. There's a little quiz at the end of every class so you have to come, but he'll make it worth it, plus hes completely gorgeous!!!!
Hats off to Dr. Lyle! I have taken more than twenty five college courses and never have I encountered a better instructor than Dr. Lyle! The puremems are a great help to understanding and remembering the material! I enjoyed the class because he actually has a passion for what he does and it comes across in his teachings!
Best professor i've ever had. he does little quizzes at the end of classes, so at least go to take those, it helps your grade. exams aren't bad; he talks about everything that's on them, doesn't use a book. very easy going, funny guy, would take him for every class if i could.
Dr. Lyle is an AMAZING professor. Prior to attending his class, I had little interest in the area of cognitive processes, but after, he has piqued my interest. No text for the class, but attendance is recommended due to daily quizzes. Of course, he is incredibly attractive and witty, as well as extremely easy to talk to. The class was enjoyable.
Lyle is a beast. He teaches well, he makes class interesting (and this was stats - stats!). He's willing to help you, his tests aren't awful, especially if you pay attention and do the work. Best psych professor I've found.
Dr. Lyle is AWESOME! He uses PowerPoint for his lectures, they are very clear and the test questions are pulled directly from slides. If you study you will do great. There are 4 tests(fair and consistent with what he teaches). There are daily quizzes so you need to show up for class. There is no textbook which is great! I Highly recommend!
Easy class, awesome prof. 4 exams, no hw, no textbook, no overall final just regular exam all about 50 Q's. all powerpoint lecture, and power points are posted on BB before class. Offers study sessions for exams, there are 5 Q's @ end of class over powerpoint but thoses are easy too and dont hurt your grade if u miss a couple.
PUREMEM's very helpful for test time (quizzes at end of every class). Go to class and pay attention. He gives you all the answers from the get go. Tests in class and about 50 questions. If you have questions, he will help. Don't argue with him. He'll find a way to make you question your argument even if you are 100% sure about something. Take him.
class isn't completely mandatory but you complete a PUREMEM (short quiz) at the end of each lecture that counts for 8% of your final grade. definitely could be helpful. He is a GREAT professor, very charismatic and easy to pay attention to. explains things super well. I have flash cards on studyblue.com feel free to use them. I HIGHLY recommend him
Easy, and interesting. Lyle is one of the best teachers at UofL in my opinion.
Does a really good job in using a few paragraphs in slides to expand and clarify knowledge that would usually take up 30 pgs in a textbook of rambling. Makes use of the PUREMEM which isn't bad. Tests aren't hard but aren't necessarily easy uses an engaging teaching style and very reciprocal of student curiosity in opportune moments.
I highly recommend taking this class with Dr. Lyle. No text book, which is a huge plus. He teaches from powerpoint slides. They are easy to follow and don't contain any info that is irrelevant to the material that he is teaching in that particular lecture. It has been my favorite class by far. His lectures are fun to attend.
Professor Lyle is will be one of my most memorable professors at UofL. Not really tries to engage and relate to his students in often informative, albeit funny ways. Daily PUREMEM cover that day's lecture, but it's easy if you skim that day's notes before he puts the slide up. Exam's are extremely easy as well. And no textbook either.
Awesome class, awesome professor. I wish he offered more classes or other professors would take notes from him. I learned more in this class than I have in any other and I actually remember most of what was taught. Attendance not mandatory but helpful with many participation opportunities
Extremely organized, incredibly funny, so intelligent it's scary, clear, concise, effective, and all of the material I'm this class was/ still is applicable in everyday life. He teaches you what he wants you to know, rather than overloading you w/reading. Lyle is a rarity among Professors at UofL, and I'm so glad I took this class.
Dr. Lyle is very funny, intelligent, interesting, and good looking which made going to class enjoyable. All of the tests are online and there are daily PUREMEMs (a few questions). Dr. Lyle is definitely one of my favorite professors at UofL. Also, don't accidentally call him Kyle because he will make fun of you. Take him, you'll be glad that you did
Dr. Lyle was AWESOME. The fact that he's entertaining makes it well worth it to attend class. Four online exams, daily PUREMEMs, and regular participation opportunities (some online). NO TEXTBOOK! He actually teaches you everything you need to know and posts all of his slides on BB. Take him YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!
Dr. Lyle is an amazing professor! I had never taken any stats classes in high school but he makes the information so clear and easy to understand! He does give quizzes at the end of each class, but the answers come straight from his PowerPoint slides so they're actually not too hard. I would definitely enjoy having him again for another Psych class
Really down to earth. Doesn't use huge words that are hard to understand and is knowledgeable in what he teaches. Plus he doesn't use the book so that's money saved.
This class was fairly easy, a lot of one point extra credit opportunities, and easy tests. PUREMEM quizzes at the end of each lecture, no big deal but are helpful to help you remember information from the lecture.
Brilliant. One of the best professors I have ever had. I highly recommend this course be taken with him. Enjoyed him so much that I am taking another class with him next semester. AND he is not terrible to look at.
Dr. Lyle is difficult to meet with as he has short office hours and unwilling to meet outside set hour. Unsympathetic to family emergencies, and was not willing to help me when I showed concern with my grades early on. He also rarely checks his email so it is hard to get in touch with him.
So funny! I wish I was able to have him for a professor in another course! He does give a final but he really prepares you for it and does not let you forget information from the beginning of the course. All of the material is thoroughly broken down so it is easily understood and the examples provided are relevant and extremely interesting!
Lyle is a funny guy and makes stats fun and understandable. As long as you attend class and pay attention you can make out with a good grade. The tests are simple and there aren't trick questions. If you study and put in the time you'll do great. Also no text book, all material comes from the slides. The final was easy and only covered basic stuff.
This class was OK. He is clear and precise in his lectures and there are no tricks to the exams. There are quizzes every class, so show up. It's not difficult to get an A. He's funny, but he's concerned about being the 'cool' professor, and a fair amount of his lectures include sexual references - pretty overreaching for a stats class, kinda weird.
He gives great lectures and lets you know what to expect out of the class from day one. There is no text book, but you do get access to the power point presentations he makes. The only thing I didn't like was the Lab portion of the class, my TA was not very good about making sure you comprehended the information so that effected lab quiz grades.
Dr. Lyle is easily the best professor here at UofL. He makes his lectures really funny and interesting, and you'll actually remember what you learn. The daily puremems and participation opportunities will help boost your grade. No textbook and exams are online. Go to lecture, I promise you won't get tired of listening (or looking) at him.
He is funny. He does not require a textbook. He posts his powerpoints online. Tests in this class were in person, but they covered the notes and the test represented exactly what we covered in class. The lab for this class was helpful and easy. He gives quizzes (puremems) at the end of each class, so attendance is important.
I liked Dr Lyle very much. He's a nice guy and a good teacher. I would recommend taking his course. You should go to class to take the short end of class quizzes, but if you don't no big deal, they only count for like 8% of your grade. So if your cool with a B you can skip every class, slides are all online. Test taking is done with lockdown browse
Good professor but boring content. 4 tests (all online), puremem's (quiz based on memory of the days lecture) every single class which is annoying but facilitates understanding of class material, he tends to go on little rants but other than that, pretty easy class if you study. Oh and no textbook required!
Honestly, Dr. Lyle is probably the best professor at UofL. His lectures are really interesting and hilarious (he likes to include pop culture references and personal anecdotes). Would love to take another class with him.
Best professor ever. Very passionate about psychology. Great lectures with tons of information. No textbook-- he doesn't believe in using them. Only tests in his class. He posts all his powerpoints to Bb so attendance isn't mandatory or checked but I highly recommend attending every class because he has great material & will touch on other topics.
I love Dr. Lyle. I've taken him for two classes, Psychology of Diversity and Cognitive Processes. Both have a similar layout but the second had the tests online. You will have PUREMEMs which make up around 8 percent of your grade which are short questions you answer after every lecture about the material so you can skip if you don't care about that
Best professor ever. He is very credible and knowledgable in his field of work. I would recommend 10/10 taking him for a class.
Dr. Lyle is a great professor and makes his classes truly interesting. I deff. recommend him for anything you take in psych.
I absolutely love Dr. Lyle. He is by far the best professor I've had. His lectures are both easy to understand and interesting. There are PUREMEMs (quizzes) at the end of each class which are easy if you pay attention. Tests are online and come straight from the slides. I really enjoyed his class and it was pretty easy. Take him if you can!
Dr. Lyle is a gem among UofL faculty. I have taken him from two classes (Psych 322 and 301) and I have never had a professor who has made me think more deeply about psychology as a whole and who has made an influence on my career aspirations as he has.
Dr. Lyle does not have a textbook for any of his classes. So, your exams will be based off his powerpoints which he posts online. He gives out a lot of assignments in class and online that are super easy. Highly recommend.
One of the best professors I have ever had at U of L. Engaging class that Professor Lyle makes even more fun. If you don't get at least a B (if not an A) then something is wrong with you. Would recommend to every student.
10/10 recommend taking him!
Really interesting lectures. Funny guy, loves cognitive psych and willing to talk about it with you outside of class. No textbook
I really enjoyed his lectures. No textbook needed for this class, he doesnt believe in using them. Uses a lot of movie references in his lectures. Short quizzes at the end of every class.
nice guy, but soooo socially awkward
Very chill guy! Does not require a text book at all. Class is consisted of powerpoints which he lectures on- seems annoying- but very interesting and easy. We have Tophat questions at the end of each class which make up a very small portion of your grade. 4 tests and an online final, which if you pay attention and take notes, you're perfectly fine.
Keith Lyle is a great professor. His class is well organized and the material is easy to understand. He has no textbook, as he does not believe that they are a good tool. He posts slides online and uses TopHat for points. My only issue is that he will cancel class last minute if the projector doesn't work, which is a hassle for commuters. Funny too
Took Lyle for 322 last semester as well, and while the structure of the class is pretty similar, something just seemed off about his teaching. He's a good prof overall but didn't seem that enthusiastic, at least compared to 322. Lectures dragged and even he seemed to be bored.
Beeto Dr. Lyles was hands down my favorite professor on UofLs Arts and Science campus. Class never required a text book, but involved lecture slides and notes that hed send out, in class quizes, easy tests, and just overall great info. This sweet soul was always personable we had tea a few times outside of class (: and ready to mold minds!
Kinda disorganized and like another reviewer said, didn't seem all that enthusiastic about the class. Lectures were mediocre at best.
Lyle was a really great teacher! His lectures could easily be completed in 30 minutes but he takes the full hour and 15 every timeso it's painful at times. No book which is so helpful because the slides he makes are full of everything you need. Really personable and wants you to do well!
Tests are easy; everything comes from slides he posts online. Lectures were pretty boring and attending class isn't necessary except for short quizzes (although because they're online, you don't even need to come in). But if you need an easy A, this class is for you.
The material was super easy to understand, so I didn't get why he needed to drone on about every little thing. The man loves to go on tangents. Also, he talks SO SLOWLY. This was even worse when we had online lectures (because class was cancelled numerous times). I had to watch those lectures at twice the speed in order not to lose focus...
One of the better psych profs, take him if you need a psych credit
This was the easiest college course I have ever taken. Attendance is not mandatory but he does do Puremems at the end of each lecture that are worth a total of 8% of your grade . There is no textbook. Just lectures and 5 tests. The tests are multiple choice and super easy. I got an A on all of them. Just read the slides. Very little homework.
This is the third class I've had with Dr. Lyle (taken 322 & 301 as well), and it's a shame that it might be my last. Whatever I write here truly won't do him justice. As always, his lectures are thought-provoking, humorous, and above all, a privilege to attend. UofL is lucky to have a professor like Dr. Lyle.
Beware of Purenems at the end of each class, they are like 5 question test that see if you learned anything from the lecture in class. Hes a great teacher and the class was fair. It wasnt hard like stats sounds at all. Id recommend him.
This was my 2nd time taking a class with Dr. Lyle and I am sad to say that this was my last as he only teaches so many different courses. I have learned so much from him and he made the topics so entertaining and easy to understand. Stats looked scary at first but he and the TAs made it fun! I will always respect this man and remember his classes!
Prof. Lyle was a baller for real. He doesn't use a textbook, and just teaches on what he thinks is interesting/good for us to know. I probably didn't pay attention as much as I should have, but I really learned a lot. This was one of my favorite classes I have ever taken. You don't technically HAVE to show up for class, b/c PUREMEMs are online
This was the only class my senior year where I didn't earn an A. He takes about 20-30 minutes of content and stretches it out the full 75 minutes with no group work or discussion, going off on random tangents. Go to class and read the slides, but don't listen to what he is saying; you will get a better grade than I did.
Lyle's a great professor! He doesn't teach from a textbook, instead giving enough content in his lectures. Lyle is very funny and the class is incredibly interesting. Tests are super easy, just review his slides beforehand. Lots of participation points, so you need to stay on top of your email.
Dr. Lyle is awesome! Doesn't use a textbook and everything you need is in the lecture ppts. I suggest showing up to do the puremem at the end but you don't eed to fully pay attention during the lecture to do well on them. Study each slide and know the different experiments and concepts/definitions for the exams! My class had an online final
Take this class with Professor Stilp..
I really don't get the hype about this professor. The class is pretty easy at most times but if you do have any confusion, oh man, good luck. I tried to ask him some questions and I feel like he just confused me more. He was extremely nervous and kept talking in circles (I think he may be on the spectrum). The TA was 10x more helpful.
Dr. Lyle is amazing!!
Dr. Kyle is very intelligent and always tries to make his lectures interesting. The tests arent too hard as long as you study and he gives points for answering questions in class so getting a good grade isnt that hard! The only bad thing about the class is that the TAs dont know ANYTHING relating to the class so theyre very unhelpful.
Dr. Lyle is an excellent professor. He doesn't use a book, but it really isn't necessary for the course. Top Hat is essential; everything is on there except exams. Take the problem sets seriously as they reflect the exams very closely. Definitely a great option if you have a required stats class!
This was one of the best professors I have ever had. His power points were easy to understand and no textbook was required. He is also very willing to answer any questions you may have. I would take him for all my other classes if I could.
Really easy class with Dr. Lyle. His lectures dont make you super bored because he is a good speaker. Watch out for PUREMEMs and participation opportunities on TopHat. Theyre just a few questions you have to answer at the end of class that altogether are worth 8% of your grade. Not a big deal, but the participation opportunities help a lot.
He is very informative and knowledgeable about the content yet also adds elements of fun to lectures.
Dr. Lyle is really funny and makes lectures interesting with either personal stories, references to media, or actual studies. But because of that, sometimes lectures can drag on because he frequently goes on tangents, too. Short quizzes after each lecture and participation points. Exams are easy if you pay attention in class. Not much outside work.
Dr. Lyle is an amazing professor, but I won't lie, this class was very difficult for me. He teaches it well, but the content isn't easy. Participation opportunities and PUREMEMS during every class which will help your grade. Weekly recitation quizzes, along with BB quizzes, exams, and problem sets. He tries his best to make it painless as possible
I love Dr. Lyle. He made this class very interesting and made it fun to learn. Content isn't that difficult. PUREMEMS after every class and participation opportunities constantly offered either in class or on BB. No textbook. I'd love to take more classes with him if I could.
I love love loved him as my professor this semester. 1000/10. Take him and you will not regret it.
Ive taken Lyle for 307 and 310. He doesnt use a textbook which makes studying for exams a lot easier. His exams are online and really all you need to do is write down the notes and briefly look through them and you should get an easy A. Hes a little dry sometimes but you can tell he really cares about students and wants them to succeed.
Dr. Lyle was just a straight up great professor. He always seemed like he knew what he was talking about and could express that knowledge in ways most students could understand. If you give him even a small bit of participation, he will help you whenever you need it.
I only had Professor Lyle for half a semester since he resigned, but as a professor, he was decent. He was friendly, passionate about the topics, and understanding. If a question on one of the multiple choice exams were wrong, you could get extra credit if you got it right, and if you got it wrong, that question's score would be dropped for you.
Leith Kyle was an amazing professor, although he resigned. I would take him again, but you need to put in effort. Call him Dr. Kyle if you ever see him.
