Tests are a real pain in the ass, and lectures are boring, but he's a good teacher and you'll actually learn something. I wish I could say the same for some of my other teachers, but I can't...

He is an interesting teacher, but his test a really hard, he doesnt give a review for anything.

Really great professor. He has amazing lectures. It will keep you entertained while learning the subject. His tests all come from lecture notes and its 80% multiple choice and the rest is short essay form. If you take notes you'll do fine.

His lectures are outstanding! He breaks up the lectures with photos and videos. Very knowledgeable of the subject. There is a lot of note taking. His tests are all from the notes. The nice thing about his class is that he doesn't teach straight from the book. I would highly recommend Professor Maljean for this class!!

Great proffesor! Classes are very interesting. He is a bit of a perve, lol, ladies sign up!

The tests were really hard, he would tell you to study one thing and put totally different ?s on the test and there was a lot of material on each test, like 5 hours study time! but i would take him again because he was really interesting.

What can I say? Professor K, is just so awesome! His teaching skills are phenomenal (he should be teaching at some prestigious university). He captivates you in his lectures. I'm very lucky to have him.

The guy know's what he's talking about, and more importantly he knows how to get you to understand it all. Not boring at all, and teaches with the philosophy of "I work for you guy's" (his students). Theres little need for the book, everything is from the notes. BCC is lucky to have him. I'd recommend him to everyone.

Instructor Maljean is certainly one of the most influental professors I have yet taken. I feel I speak for all who attended his class when I say "I wish I could take it again!" His down to earth mentality and his ability to understand you as a person exibits the best qualitys of a professor!

Great Teacher, knows how to teach the subject without being boring. I took him for US History and World History, I will take him again if possible for any future classess. Very helpful when needed and the final is not cummulative!

took him for both American History and World History over two semesters. he is awesome! his stories are funny and interesting, you'll never fall asleep in his class. if you take good notes you will pass with an A. there are 3 or 4 tests all +/-40 multiple choice. study your notes and you will do fine, he does a small review before each test.

Wonderful instructor! As many others have stated I wish I could have him for other classes. VERY Important to take notes!!! Just take notes and listen and you will pass every test with an A

Really easy teacher. When he says he does not want you to fail his class he really means it. Class is not mandatory but all of his test questions come from the notes taken in class instead of from text. Really nice and really enjoys history which makes you enjoy it.

Easy A, does everything in his power to make sure you do not receive an F to hurt your grade point average.

Took Prof. Maljean's class during the summer. He's very helpful, understanding, laid back, friendly, and witty. Recites the past of the United States with plenty of gusto and humor. I loved the class and it was actually a pleasure to take notes from every lecture. Tests were easy with great reviews.

This guy is a nice and friendly person, i would recommend this professor to all my friends, he tries to help you out as much as possible. Tests are easy if you just listen to lectures and study alittle, excellent professor

He's a good professor. Very interested and passionate for what he teaches. If you take this class with him, get ready to take a lot of notes. His lectures are interesting though Attendance is mandatory and studying is very important if you want to pass the class with him. He's helpful and you dont really need to buy a book.

He lectures entirely from memory hands down the best professor end of story. you do NEED to study for this class or you wont pass the tests, he will work with you though on whatever you need just ask extremely friendly guy. If you need to take a history class and want to learn and dont mind working take this class.

I took his summer class and had a great learning experience. He not only knows his material but also is passionate for what he does. You need to take good notes for all his tests are based on his lecture. He has this unique and stylish way of teaching, which make his class very interesting. You'll never feel bored! Atendance is mandatory.

I took him last semester and thought he was great! He loves what he does and he makes it enjoyable for his students. He shares alot of info you won't find in history books and he is funny. Def take him!

He is an amazing teacher! I have never left a rating for a teacher in my life, but he surely deserves one! Pay attention in class, and TAKE NOTES, test are from them! The book is not required. He keeps everyone interested (which is hard to do with history), and is extremly funny! I love Professor Maljean, I wish he taught other classes aswell! = )

Extremely funny and informative professor. Lectures off the top of his head (he is that good!). The thing is you HAVE to attend class and take good notes (don't expect to be given a grade for doing nothing). I enjoyed his class a lot and he is one of the best professors Broward College offers. Awesome guy.

He is very fun and a great guy. But he lectures off the top of his head, and then his tests contain questions he did NOT cover at all. You can pay attention to everything he says, take notes, study for hours, and his tests will still contain questions he did NOT cover. Fun class? Yes. Fun professor? Yes. Easy Grade? NO!

The BEST professor Ive come across! He cares about his students and wants to see them succeed. I got an A, if you attend class and take notes the tests are not that hard. Don't miss class and pay attention and you're guaranteed a good grade.

This professor is probably one of the best teachers at BC. He has a passion for history and will make you interested in it, you will learn something and get your money's worth. The book is not really necessary but your presence in the class is. He doesn't take attendance but his lecture is how you'll get the A. I highly recommend him :)

I went into the class with a semi interest. I came out with a new love for history. man, this guy keeps you interested. You do not need the book at all. You need to attend EVERY class and take GOOD notes. If you take good notes and study them then you will do fine. I am very impressed with his teaching style.

He has a different way of teaching. He's lectures range from interesting to so boring. He has 3 tests, 12 small assignment papers and a 5 page book critique. If you like history, I would recommend him. If not, find another professor.

DON'T BUY THE BOOK. Save your 30 bucks for DD during break time. As long as you show up to class and write down everything he says you'll get the A. Three tests all come from lecture. One book report and 21 small papers (1-2 paragraphs). I didn't bother with it bcuz it's only 10% tests are 90%. Study your notes and you'll get a B for sure

Prof. Maljean is the man. Took him for American History reconstruction to the present. He's really passionate about his subject and cares deeply for his students and their success. Can't say enough good things about this man. TAKE HIM! Lectures are really cool and his tests are based on the lecture so if you listen your fine. Great job Prof. M!

Prof. Maljean is AWESOME. I took AMH2020 this semester and It was the best decision. He knows a lot of history and he always makes it interesting. I recomend him 100%.

Great course. Single page response every week. 5 page book critique due by the end of semester. Great videos and book recommendtion. Had a good time during this class. Professor knows his stuff and is passionate about history.

GREAT PROFESSOR!!!! He knows the material well and is very dedicated to History and teaching. Note taking is very important, book not needed, extra credit movies can be watched! I plan on taking another class of his as an elective since he was so good! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Relatively easy class, prof. knows his history but may be a bit vague unclear about details. All lecture so show up and take good notes.

I took Professor Maljean for two semesters because he was so great. He is an amazing teacher, his lectures are interesting and relate directly to his exams which he gives a review on. If you go to class, you will have no problem passing with an A. he's a fair, kind, and funny guy. Purchasing a textbook isn't necessary as long as you take notes.

Professor Maljean is an excellent professor. Textbook is not necessary. His exams are based on his notes so take good notes. Exams are not difficult. There are homework assignments but they are not difficult, and actually helps you to learn about history. He makes history very interesting. I would not hesitate to take his class. Passed with an A.

Professor Maljean is truly a gem. You must show up for each and every lecture and be prepared to take notes. He provides three exams based solely off his lectures, 10 short homework assignments and 1 book critique. He cares about his students and has a great sense of humor. Take his class!!! If you do all the work, you will get an A.

Ends classes early which is nice. Tests are easy. However there is one short paper a week, and that was too much work for me. Gives great brief overview of recent events

He's an awesome professor! I took him in Spring. I'm not a history student at all I would always get Cs but with him as a professor I started liking history more. Imagine my surprise when I see my grade as a B. Study for the test! They're 90% & record him if you miss anything he says. I survived by recording him, study groups and YouTube.

Best AMH Teacher ever. He's funny, entertaining, and looks out for his students. Would take him again for sure. Just be ready to take good notes.

One of the best prof. I've had. Lectures are class-long but interesting. Doesn't use a textbook. very seasoned and erudite professor. truly loves history. Brings in artifacts. Remember and understand the material and it's an easy A. 10 short essays 3 exams 1 five page book critique. Very nice and funny guy. I Highly recommend this professor.

Great professor! I didn't know a lot about American History but with his lectures and the notes I took I got A's B's on exams, after studying a lot. Lectures are fast paced but he keeps it interesting! He gives extra credit if you earn it; no absences, no tardies, pay attention in class. If I needed AMH2020 I would definitely be his class again!

This professor is amazing. He is very lecture heavy but I like lecture heavy classes. His lectures are very interesting and he really knows what he is talking about. There were 3 tests, a book critique, and a short barely a page essay due each week (13 in total). I got As on the tests after studying. Loved the class! Highly recommended!

Really nice professor who is out to help students but if History isn't your strong subject I wouldn't recommend this professor. His lectures are what you are tested on but they are very sporadic which can make studying for the test more difficult and missing a class is almost non optional because you don't use the book and he puts nothing online.

His love for American history makes the class one of a kind, history really comes to life. He will get off topic, does not use a text book so I would highly recommend not missing class. laid back not a lot of strict deadlines. will always talk about the football game last night. So far my favorite professor to date.

The best teacher ever! You don't need the textbook, but you must take good notes during the lecture. Don't miss class. He is very funny and makes history very interesting by using pictures, videos and explains things in a way that you can easily understand. 5 page paper due at the end. Professor Maljean is an amazing History professor and I would recommend him to everyone. History is not my strong suite, I worked full time while taking his class at night, I have a child, & was able to come out with a B. His lectures can turn into anecdotal reminiscences and become sporadic sometimes (so what), you will learn a lot/ easily pass!

Incredible and very informative. If you apply yourself in his class, you will pass no matter what. Make sure to take notes, do the assignments, and you should be fine. He is caring and always willing to help you understand better.

He is a great history teacher. He is really interesting professor. The classes are heavy, but interesting. Study for the test otherwise you won't pass. 14 easy simple essays, 3 tests, and 1 book review (5 pages). If you do the work, you'll pass.

Awesome! Took his class over Summer 2019. Got through the class with an A and it was a breeze. His lectures are some of the best I've had because I actually learn and retain information. Just do the work he gives and you'll be fine. He gives you what you need to study before tests and keeps you engaged. I'll be taking him for AMH2020, no doubt.

Professor Maljean is a very smart, sweet professor. I found the tests to be a little difficult which is why I got a C. But he gives a lot of extra credit and is a fair teacher.

Professor Maljean made every aspect of having to learn during a global pandemic much less stressful. Every class was incredibly interesting and informative, and he makes sure that each class is entertaining and a place where you actively want to be despite the length.

I had Maljean for AMH 2010 and loved him so I signed up for AMH 2020 with him. Class is pretty easy. Make sure to attend class, most the the work is lectures. He assigns 10 homework 1 page summary essays, 3 tests (including non cumulative final) and a 5 page book report. He is one of the few professors that actually cares about his students!

Professor Maljean is very caring and makes sure all his students are doing well. His classes are fully lectures and they go at a pretty fast pace so heavy notes are expected. His exams are difficult but he curves grades if most of the class needs the extra points. He's funny, sweet, and responds to emails very fast!

Your grade mostly depends on 3 tests, but they're not too bad and he curves them. There's also a 5 page book report and 10 essay questions. His lectures are interesting and it's not tough material.

He is all over the place. His class is pretty easy, but you have to keep up. There is a video assignment and essay question due every week. There 3 or 4 test and a 5 page book report. I really like this professor. I took AMH 2010 and 2020. His classes are long, however both remote and face to face he made it enjoyable. You have to pay attention in class to pass the tests, and make sure you do the weekly assignments. He is VERY understanding, just talk to him and I'm pretty sure you guys can work something out.

He is awesome, personally I find his lectures easy to listen to and he sprinkles hilarious jokes and little remarks. currently Im taking AMH2020 and its easy too

Awesome professor. He gave out interesting and informative lectures with a pinch of humor at times. Homework is never hard, and tests are easy if you study. Definitely recommend him for anyone attempting to take a social sciences course!

Professor Maljean is an amazing American History professor! Although he is lecture heavy, his lectures are informational. He works with you to ensure you are going to pass the class. Just participate, do his homework, and communicate with him if you need assistance. He helps you on your tests by curving your grade if needed!

I've never enjoyed history class in my life, but Professor Maljean makes history a fun subject with minimal assignments and easy tests. I'd normally fall asleep in any other class lecture, but Professor Maljean tells history like it's a story and makes it hilarious too. There is no way you can't pass his class, I would definitely recommend!

Maljean is an amazing professor! There are weekly assignments, which are video and question assignments. There are not a lot of tests and his lectures are really fun!

Prof. Maljean gives very good lectures which if understood while in class you don't even have to study to pass test. Do writing assignments and you will end with an A.

Easily one of the best classes on campus. If you've never liked history before, you will in this class. His lectures go into great detail and, at times, are very entertaining. Regarding workload, there is virtually no busywork given out. Rather, there are weekly assignments requiring a one-page essay, but with a little finesse, they are easy.

He is very lecture-heavy, so take notes. Otherwise, the class is very easy. I'm glad I picked him! He is also really nice :)

I took Prof. Maljean for AMH2010 and AMH2020 and he's literally the best history teacher you'll ever have. The lectures make you actually wanna listen and pay attention. He makes the stories about history funny and exciting. He is also the most caring for his students. 3 tests basically make up your entire grade, final is not cumulative. Take him!

Funny, relaxed, no PowerPoint, he has a word document displayed on the board and states what he want you to write, if you miss anything just ask to repeat it. Every lesson he may show you a couple of short videos. Each week he gives essay and video assignments but he is very lenient with them and they dont count for much of the grade.

Best history teacher in BC

Please take his class. I genuinely enjoyed watching this man speak about history for 2 hours. Very lecture heavy but he speaks about history as if he was actually living in that moment. He truly loves the subject. There are 2 assignments every week that's all you'll ever do besides tests. Gives you everything you need for the tests. Love him

He was an incredible professor. He made my semester. He is HILARIOUS and his storytelling makes the class bearable. The way he teaches flows so well that time literally flies. He grades mostly on the tests, but all you really need to pass is to take notes, attend class, and pay attention. It is NOT hard, I promise. He's an incredible professor.

You won't regret taking him. I had an amazing semester because of him. Loved him so much. Don't skip class or you will not understand the material. His lectures have A LOT of information. Don't be afraid, it's easy to understand and he's funny so he makes it all the more interesting. You will love him if you take him I promise!!!

Prof. Maljean is such a caring and nice Professor. He makes you feel interested in the class by always adding curious and fun facts about the time he is teaching. I would take classes with him again if I had to.

Wonderful and passionate teacher! Easy and fun class. Tests were based on his lectures so try to attend as much as you can. Every week HW: 2 one page writing assignments (1 question and 1 video summary) and one 5 page book critique as final. Book purchase wasn't mandatory, but if you miss a few classes, it helps with catching up on the HW.

Professor Maljean makes the experience worthwhile by sprinkling in videos, pictures and stories to enhance how you digest the information. Professor Maljean was nothing short of amazing. He wants everyone to learn and will do anything for you to pass. Study the study guide and you'll be fine for the midterm and finals (online midterm and final). He's a jokester and he's always making sure you leave with a smile on your face. TAKE HIM HE'S GREAT!!!!!!

Professor Maljean is a very outgoing professor he's cool and funny and his lectures are amazing he even gives you a 15 break in the class after like 2 hours of the lecture. I highly recommend taking him if you need this class as long as you show up and take notes you'll be ight trust me.

I HIGHLY recommend this professor! I wanted to give him a 5, but I had him at 9:30 in the morning which was eh for me. HOWEVER, he was one hell of a professor because I liked how he taught the class and I enjoyed learning history from him cause of the stories he had told. Just show up to class and take notes. 10/10! I already love history & prof. Maljean made it come alive with pictures, videos, and captivating lectures. Short papers on video assignments & material covered each week but not graded heavily. The few tests make up the majority of your final grade, but they are not difficult at all. Participate and engage in class, he makes it so so fun!

Professor Maljean is a great professor! Makes history a very fun subject with his commentary. The course is also very easy. My only note is that this professor is not very tech-savvy and you do not have access to your grade until the end. However the class is simple enough to not have to worry about it.

Prof. Maljean is very passionate about American History and his lectures are filled with stories which makes them captivating. He gives weekly assignment questions and videos to summarize for writing credit. He also provides extra tips for taking the Civic Literacy Assessment. He is very hilarious and spends time getting to know his students.

I took Professor Maljeans class for the session 1 summer semester and I must say he was really nice. He incorporated pictures and videos in his lectures to make the class more engaged. I did purchase an American History textbook but I believe it was the wrong edition so I never used it. But, I had no issues completing my assignments without one.

took this during the 6 week summer semester so the workload was very heavy but not difficult at all. tests are 90% of your grade but he curves them, he won't grade your other assignments until the very last day. DO NOT SKIP CLASS

Super nice professor! It was a short summer term so he went a little easy on us. Pay attention go to class take notes. You'll pass no problem. He makes his lectures very entertaining, Honestly loved him as a professor very good teacher.

Professor Maljean was good. His lectures were always interesting especially with the stories he would tell us related to the lesson. Only thing I would say though is that there is a lot of writing when it comes to the weekly essay questions and video assignments and he doesn't grade them right away. Other than that, the class was really easy.

HE'S GREAT! honestly I thought I would struggle in this class because I'm not American and I knew nothing about U.S history. I left his class not only understanding the events but getting a clear timeline of how they happened. His lectures are awesome, I usually struggle with paying attention at lectures, but now with him, he's a great teacher

His textbook is online. He will yap about history and show some pictures and videos for 2 hours straight, but he keeps it entertaining. Definitely will love the way he helps us write notes. Pretty nice guy, just do your weekly essays on time!!

Passion for education

In Professor Mejean class it is important to take notes on the lectures as well as attending class. Most question are from the lecture. This class is so fun, and Professor Maljean makes it fun and interesting.

Professor Maljean is incredible. I had him for two semesters. His lectures are funny, so always attend class! His assignments are basically one video assignment and one essay a week, which are pretty easy. The essay is only a page long. His tests are all multiple choice and he prepares the class for them well. TAKE THIS CLASS YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!

Professor Maljean was a wonderful professor! His class was extremely easy, and all his lectures were easy to understand, as he would use videos and pictures to explain what we were learning about. Weekly essays of one page were expected to be done on time, but they were also very easy to write. I hope he has a wonderful retirement.

This professor is truly amazing—an absolute gem! His teaching style keeps the class interesting, and he genuinely seems to care about his students' success. As long as you complete the assignments, you'll do well in his course. Unfortunately, he's now retired, so you might not have the opportunity to take his class at Broward College.
