Never thought studying amoboes could be so much fun! I recommend him to everyone, he is truely a pseudopod expert!
He is an extremely understanding professor. Do all of the homework. It weighs more than tests.
Difficult subject, but Malmos made it fun. Very flexible with grading and very helpful. Lots of enthusiasm. When he laughs, you will laugh (mostly at his laugh). Teacher scores an overall A!
Very ineresting class. Hard, but lots of fun. Never once was I bored. Very helpful and knowledgeable.
Malmos for president!
you do need to study but he makes learning the material "fun". he is absolutely hilarious!! highly recommend the class, even just for honors credit. he is so smart if you need any help he is there(when he isn't in a meeting.lol.).
i always seemed to study the wrong thing for tests, which were hard...but doing the homework was VERY beneficial to my final grade...very nice and enthusiastic teacher
Not very clear on things, can't answer questions to where the student understands, teaches with pictures, has no lesson plan prepared but does things on the top of his head. Tests are very hard mostly implied theories. Boring class. Needs a hair cut
Interesting if you already have a base knowledge on Biology. Doesn't really deal with teaching all that much, but more attempts to expand on what you already know about biology. Keep up on the reading and the tests are easy.
He is a really good teacher. The tests are hard but he is extrememly nice.
I think he is hilarious. He does a lot of lecturing but makes it fun just because of who he is! He's just stupid, in a funny way. He is the nicest, funniest professor I've had so far. Count my vote for him as president too!
this man is FUN!! so much fun with his class last semester. wish i could take him for bio2, but i guess he's not teaching it. but anyway, he is so fun and definitely take him. but if you really wants a serious bio1, take someone else.
got my vote!!!! finially got the hair cut.lol.good teacher.read material easy class
The test are hard but he teaches well. He has a unique style of teaching, never comes straight from the book. The best part is if you have a problem, just talk to him, he gives a little slack. Would def. recommend him.
Good teacher, tests kinda hard. He is a good teacher i would reccomend him to anyone who likes science but doesnt want to work very hard.
I had no idea what was going on in this class. Its like he teaches it in latin and he isn't very helpful. Hes cute but I thought his class sucked!
Funniest teacher ever! He came to class on halloween dressed in a gorilla suit.
Be sure to see his Holloween costume
He teaches one thing... and tests you on another. You HAVE to read the book, don't expect an easy A
Those who are Bio-majors will have to really understand the language.Trust me this is not an easy A. He says a lot for us to sink it all in in one day and to 'make the grade'the next week!You make the choice!:~}
Very hard Bio 2 teacher. Test are very difficult and extremely hard to study for. Although he is nice his teaching is spacey and disorganized.
easy class if you keep up with the little assignments. tests are kinda hard, and the class is boring, but he's a sweet guy. easy a.
best bio teacher i have ever had.He is always there to help if he can and he never fails to inform you a week ahead for a test.tests are hard, but nothing to difficult if you pay attention and study.Malmos Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!
His tests are hard but he is a decent teacher. It takes a very long time to get your tests back though. He is kind of spacey and goofy. The class is kind of boring too.
Definitely not the easiest teacher, but he's worth a shot. He's nice, and he will help you if you ask. He'll make you laugh too.
He is a totally hot man. His idea of fun is more work, but it balances your grade out with homework, it helps if you are serious about the class. Will do whatever he can to help you understand a concept if you take the time to ask him personally.
he is so nice, really cool teacher and cares a lot about you doing well in class
This teacher knows what he is talkin about, but he does not know how to express it out loud to the class, his discussions loose the student very quickly , but his test seem fairly if you study from the book and his notes online help so print the notes and bring them to class to kno what he is sayin
This guy is great. All test are multiple choice. Nothing too hard. It is an easy A or B if you come to class and read the book. I wish there were more like him!
This guy is cool. Prof. Malmos tries to be funny...doesn't always work. A pretty good teacher, the point gets across, it may take a while, but it'll get there. Study for tests. It is kind of hard to undrestand somethings because the language is confusing. Overall a good class
He is a very nice man, but doesn't explain things well. He jumps around different topics a lot, but if you can put up with his bad lectures then it's easy to get an A.
Mr. Malmos is hot and an awesome professor! His tests are based off his thorough notes, and the book, if you study, it's an easy "A". Is willing to stay after EACH class and answer any and all questions you have. He has an awesome personality!
he means well, but does not know how to teach to well. Attend labs and you'll do fine.
Professor is very helpful with understanding concepts.Lectures can be boring...loose interest quickly but online notes help. Tests aren't that easy but he usually gives you a break. Overall not a bad class...if you attend you'll pass
He knows what he is talking about and very helpful. Just make sure you study for the tests they are pretty hard. Lectures are pretty boring but not that bad of a class!
His lectures are very boring, and his tests are ridiculous. You never know what he will put on them. Unless you love science, and already know your stuff, I suggest picking a different teacher.
Very easy, attend all labs and pass with a B.
Mr. Malmos is the awesomest professor I have ever taken. His test are not easy, however he will help you out if you show interest in the class. He is really nice to talk to.
Mr. Malmos is a great teacher. He def knows what he is talking about. His tests are extremely hard so you will need to study, but he is always willing to help if you need any.
Great teacher. Very clear on the information you need. Follows the text book so studying is easy. DO THE READING. He really enjoys teaching.
Eww whoever said he is hot, is nasty. No way! haha. He knows his stuff but doesn't teach well. I barely passed with a C. Tests are hard. His lectures are all over the place.
He strickly follows the book, you might as well just study the book and clep out of the class. If you're not good in bio. I suggest you take someone that knows how to teach and not just read what's in the book. His lectures are boring, his tests and his homework are very hard.
MALMOS!!! This guy is awsome. He is the best Bio teacher in the school. The class is easy if and only if you read the chapters before you go over them in class and before the tests. If you do that you will get an A...trust me! Go to every lab and participate. The people that rate him badly are morons. One of my favorite classes!!!
Malmos is a nice guy but he is not meant to be teaching.Prepare 2 teach yourself the whole course. The textbook will become like a bible to you.Malmos doesnt plan the class out well.. is sketchy about everything..tests,quizzes,grades, and most of all his explanations just confuse u more!DO NOT TAKE MALMOS!He will ruin ur GPA(if u make it 2 the end)
Brilliant professor! Not sure why all the bad reviews. He is incredibly helpful, and this truly was an enjoyable class. Just be sure to READ the chapters and attend classes and labs, and you should have no problems. He is amazing teacher; very helpful, informative, friendly and approachable.Take his class and see 4 yourself, you will not regret it!
For those who have an understanding of bio and dont have a problem understanding it, then i guess you could pass the class, but for the rest of us who need a good teacher, plz dont take him. He will mess your gpa or you will end up dropping out losing time and money.
he's a very nice teacher and tries to be helpful but he's not good at explaining things. everyone has a different book and therefore what to read is kinda confusing and he doessn't explain good enough what will be on the tests... he means well but he's a tough teacher.
I took this class this semester. It is an easy class and long as you read the chapters. Tests are really easy, praticals are decent. Prof. Malmos is not a tough teacher. If you have a question just ask. It was a fun class and I did learn a bit from the class. Recommend this teacher and BSC1005L.
great class to fill your mind up with info to never use again. you have to read alot!! half of the class dropped and the others had either A's or C's. malmos will help out all that he can, but the subject is hard.
Professor Malmos is helpful if you have questions. For doing well on the exams and in class, be sure to read the chapters and do the test questions provided in the CD. Prof Malmos does go over items on next exams so focus on them as well. He is very conscious of how well you do, so communicate with him on vague items.
He is a very nice prifessor, he really tries for you to understand but i guess he just do not know how plain simple. he explains things but in a way that you just don't get it. But over all he is not so bad.
This professor is not an easy one. If you want to get into the class to learn, you will get someone that is very noligeable, but you will need to put your time into the book. He has the option of three or four different books which he will use all of them in the test question, so get together with someone who doesn't have your book only. I believe
Although this professor may know his stuff, it does not qualify him as a good teacher. Test are somewhat confusing; the questions are vague. On top of that, you have a choice of three books to read from, which is nice but tends to make people loss, and uncertain of what material to read is more proper.
Mr. Malmos has got to be the worst teacher to ever hold a grade book. One of my best friends is a doctor & my husband is a teacher. They both were like WTF is this guy teaching. He is completely disorganized (gave us 2 exams before letting us know what we scored on the 1st one) & YOU WILL NOT GET MORE THAN A C IN THIS CLASS. Class avg. was 68%!
He is a very nice guy, very sweet but when it comes to teaching it may be confusing at times, as long as you study very hard and try you should pass.
took him for biological science lab and got an A, HOWEVER ---- boring labs. had a quiz @ the beginning of each class that covered the previous weeks lab, but the quizzes were wayyy HARD. The final exam was VERY hard and he DIDN'T give a review. i wouldnt recommend this class, even though I got an A.
Professor Malmos' class was very interesting as well as entertaining. Reading the book helps your grade tremendously in addition to taking lecture notes. He is approachable and takes interest in this subject very much. Recommended.
I would say that Mr.Malmos is the worst professor i had here at VCC. He doset know how to teach he just stand in front of the bord saying vague things . No one has any idea what the Hell is going on... to everyone that has to take BIO....im telling you take anther teacher you wont regret it......
Mr. Malmos is by far the most confusing bio teacher I've ever had. The entire class had no idea what he was talking about and tests are hard. Class/labs are extremely boring. He is very nice but not a very good teacher.
he's a smart guy with a lot to convey. if you get past his quirky antics, you will enjoy him.
Good teacher.
If you have prior knowledge of biological sciences, you will do fine. If you are a beginner, you might struggle with basic concepts in this class. His online notes are pretty good and the links are excellent. Good luck!
Not a bad guy. He will help you only if you go to him. He will even help oyu with the field you are interested in. But as someone said before, if you have prior knowledge of the subject material you will do just fine!
Great teacher, challenges you and makes it fun(ny).
Such an interesting class, not boring like some said, (they prolly just dont get the idea of bio) passionate of the subject and is portrayed by his style of teaching, funny laugh, and even if you have a question that stumps him hell find the answer later. great teacher bio is so cool
Very strange prof, not organized, and he likes it that way, hard to study for tests,he used old tests as homework and that helped alot.Has given us chances to redeem our grade, but the lectures are still very confusing
take somebody else. He is very hard to study for.
Malmos is the coolest teacher ever. Hes a brilliant person and that makes it a little hard to understand his lectures sometimes. Test are extremely hard but they are curved if you argue your point with him. take Malmos if you want to learn about bio.
He is an awesome teacher! He makes you think though. I recommend him to ANYONE! He helped me alot in the class and is really fare
I give that this man is very smart and knows his biology, but if you have no interest or background with bio you won't have a clue what is going on. You print the notes off his site and his lectures don't make any sense at all.
MALMOS! I took him a long time ago but he is hands down one of the best professors at Valencia! woo hoo go malmos!
Professor Malmos is by far my favorite teacher. His tests are hard but if you are very interested in Biology, he is definitely worth taking. Seeing his strong interest for this subject has made me become a Biology major. I have never seen someone so in love with his career and it has been truly inspiring. -M
Honors bio, he has a very peculiar way about him, very enjoyable to be in his class. As far as clarity, he likes to go on tangents sometimes, but most are relevant. I have only a moderate interest/working knowledge of the subject and I was able to follow the lectures without much difficulty. He's a very kind man and is always willing to help.
really nice man. but his teachings are all over the place he knows what hes talking about but its a lil hard to keep up. 5 tests, gives study guides and curves. i left with a b. but u really gotta study
If your into biology then you will learn a lot from him. Bio is not my thing and the class was very hard for me. his lectures don't really help online notes and book reading are a must. Seriously though, if you like biology, know a bit about it and wanna learn something take him. It was hard for me.
Malmos is great. Biology is not an easy subject and you WILL need to study. If you read before class his lectures make sense. No one ever reads the chapter before the class and those people are the ones who are bored and lost. He is the most helpful Professor I have ever had. He is very sweet and SMART!
He is a nice guy BUT he can not teach at all. He gives half way anwsers because he doen not want to commit to something that he does not know and be wrong and he does not want you to know that he does not know.
Do not take this guy!! I'm telling you will be way better off with any other professor. He is never clear and his tests are so random. He jumps all over the place. The worst thing is he makes you stay the whole time. On lab days you'll be in class like four hours straight which is very painful. I dropped his class and took Vrotsos. Like night/day.
He begs for participation !!!!Make sure you read the chapter before class- if you dont you wont undertand his lecture or answers to questions. He seems to go in circles but he expects you to know the jist of whats going on. Take good notes and READ READ READ!!! Pay attention in labs as well!!
he is not a bad person, he tries to be cool to everyone but when it comes to tests he is not very clear on whats in it. When you ask him a question sometimes he cant answer it but he still does with something else lol. lab practicals are insane too.
Everyone's over reacting for his bio 2 class. Malmos is a real nice guy, cares very much about his students. His lab practicals are not bad, if you get more than half of them right, it will not effect you grade. The only Critique are his beginning lab's which were very boring. Study form the body like what I did and you'll get an A!
Awful teacher, scatter brained like his notes, labs are easy--the only thing that will save your grade. The tests are not reflective of material taught in class and lab practical focuses on minor details that are not part of the lecture or labs. He is a terrible professor, likeable but awful. I had to rewrite my notes over because his are nonsens
Really nice guy, his lectures are whats on the test. But You must study with the book. Labs ares super fun. If you have a little bit of common sense you will do well
Prof. Malmos is a great instructor. Its not difficult to pass his class. All you have to do is put in some time to study for his tests, and that should be the case for any class. If you study for the tests you can get an A.SO HELPFUL! HW IS A BIG HELP FOR TESTS! He does his best to help us understand!*thumbs up*
Malmos is one of the nicest guys there are...unfortunately he cannot teach. He jumps around in his lectures so it is extremely hard to understand whats going on. Many of his test questions are from little details in the text book that he didn't even talk about. I don't recommend him, but if you read the text vigorously then you might pass.
Although he tried to teach, he tends to jump around a lot. During lectures he goes back and forth and its hard to follow. He doesn't take attendance for lectures and you really won't miss anything since you have to read the book yourself. Labs are alright although some of them didn't even work. His homework usually account for half his tests.
TERRIBLE PROFESSOR.DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. CAN'T TEACH
The worst teacher I've ever had. The only way you will pass tests is if you put in close to 20 hours a week memorizing the textbook, or if you are a complete genius. He knows what he's talking about bus just says very random things each class. Do not take this professor! I withdrew after about a month.
I see a lot of bad reviews saying he is too hard. People this is Bio 2, not Tennis. This class takes a lot of studying, its very hard, and you need to put a lot of effort to do well. With that being said, He is very nice and tries to help as much as possible.Half his questions for the test come from his HW.His lectures are a bit hard to understand.
I have taken him for Bio 1 and 2. If you like teaching yourself then go for it..otherwise prepare to be in the tutoring center! class is not mandatory but he secretly gives you brownie points if you are there. lab is so easy and honestly a waste of time..but really easy and lab is mandatory! He is nice just cant teach very well. study study!
I am quite surprised that I left his class with a passing grade. It was difficult at times because he wasn't always clear. Text was extremely wordy. But I will say that he tried his best to answer questions and always offered help. So if you don't understand and don't ask for help, that is your fault because he offers it.
I NEVER UNDERSTAND HIM...LECTURES ARE RANDOM...HARD TO GET AN A! YOU HAVE TO BE READING THE TEXTBOOK 24/7 TO DO WELL
Extremely helpful. Bright invidiual. Slightly eccentric and works along multiple threads of interest. Interesting to listen to, engages students in meaningful deliberation and discussion. Class is 7.5/10 on a scale of hardness, something some college students have never dealt with (see everyone who complained).
Very inspirational. He really challenge your critical thinking skills on tests. Tips for passing: get a Dictionary of word root and combining form. It will help you understand those "big words". Make use of both the text book and online notes. Rather than just memorizing random facts...try to understand the relationships and the big pictures. -Sun
Taking Bio 1 now. Very helpful, gives study guides. Gives 25 points for each HW assignment (1 per unit). Class is not mandatory but lab is. Tests are 50 questions based mostly on class noted, HW & Study guides. Just signed up for Bio 2 with him.
Very intelligent. Attendance isnt mandatory but you get points for coming to lab which helps your grade tremendously. I got C's on all my tests but i came to labs, and ended up w/ a B. The book sucks, but I encourage u to read the book & online notes b4 class b/c u will be lost listening to his lectures. Hes one of those critical thinking professors
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY! TAKE BIO II SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!! I should have had a B in the class but in the end had a C which made no sense to me!! He is not willing to help out his students in anyway and is extremely monotone! Be prepared to fall asleep in your bio class if you take him! HIS LAB PRACTICALS ARE TERRIBLY HARD
I LOVE this teacher.Definitely not the easiest, but if you are in college you should be trying to learn, not just skate by and come out as dumb as you went in. Really takes an interest in his students. His love for Biology is just contagious. It was a challenging class, but he was always there to help.Don't expect an A with no studying.Won't happen.
Awesome teacher,he is funny and very smart.Dont expect an easy A,you are gonna have to work hard to earn it. Labs are good and they get better once you start disecting specimens. For those who complain Bio is not meant to be an easy class even less Bio2.Im a biochemistry major and I got an A,my lab partner is a computer major and got a B.FAIR enough
I am pretty much a straight A student and I got a B in his class....because he is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. Everysingle test he makes mistakes and has to correct them the next week. Not only that our 2nd lab practical he literally MADE IT UP right infront of us. He didnt even prepare anything. I really do not reccomend him.
Hard class.Study ur book and esp online notes.If u memorize the online notes u'll do gr8 on tests.Gives hw b4 tests,an easy 20/20 grade booster.Plus he gives you 10 pts 4showing up2labs.btw u don't have2attend lecture.He is hard to follow during lecture.Very scattered style.That's the worst part.Not the best communicator.So do what I said 2 succeed
Professor Malmos is really nice he just doesnt know how to teach. He is very off track when he lectures. the tests are super hard although he does curve them. The lab is super easy just show up for attendance. I never showed up to the lecture because he just confused me. study HOMEWORKS! AND notes online.
not a bad teacher. hes funny in his own biology way. only thing is his test are hard and he purposefully put made up words so watch out for that. labs are easy just study his online notes and you wont need the book.
Sometimes difficult to understand and tends to not answer questions directly. If you need help he'll talk to you, but you have to do it for yourself. His tests are hard, study the notes he gives you first, then read the textbook. Show up to labs; they're easy and worth a lot. I guarantee if you put in the effort, you'll get the results you want.
Prof. Malmos is a fantastic and inspiring teacher. Yes, his class is difficult- but why go to college to get a teacher who has you watch movies all day?? I'm looking to learn and be prepared for a university. If you are too, this is the class for you! He is EXTREMELY helpful, but you have to be proactive and ask for it when you need it!
The most important thing to remember about taking bio is that if you plan on majoring in any science field, any science class you take after this will be difficult. He was the best preparation I had for my university classes, and I'm very grateful. He really knows and loves what he's teaching. The first test is review; after that is the real stuff!
Terrible teacher. Avoid this class at all costs. It's not uncommon for the entire class to fail his tests. Confusing lectures, along with confusing homework. This class is a sure fire way to drop your GPA. Take someone else.
This class is extremely hard!!!!!
He's obviously knows the material that he teaches, unfortunately, he doesn't prepare for anything. He makes up some homework and tests almost on the spot and just comes to lectures unprepared. His lectures are useless because of this and you'd be better off just reading the textbook during class.
He is a very nice professor, he can be hard to understand sometime but he is always willing to help. He will stay after class to explain anything that you did not understand. I you study the material you will have no problem passing his test. I have learned a lot from him and got an A.
He.....knows a lot about the subject, but he just doesnt know how to teach it. If you can get any other bio teacher...please do. One good thing is that he adds points on to our test. All we had were test, hw and labs. His class can be boring, but studying is key (book & online notes). But u wont learn anything, u basically have to teach yourself.
If you cannot sit and listen for an hour and a half DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! I struggled with this professor because he does not put any REAL notes up. All he puts is pictures. You have to teach yourself if you actually want to learn. He knows what he is talking about but he does not know how to teach it. All there is hw and tests no actual notes.
This class is really easy-going. I'm not sure what we were graded on. I think it has something to do with showing up, participating and doing the research process paper work. It also introduces us to a lot of the co-curricular opportunities that are available and gets people in touch with their mentor. Aside from that..
If you are not good in Biology, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. He knows his work, but he does not know how to teach. you basically have to teach yourself the material. Take another professor if you want to learn. His test are very hard and confusing. He does not teach what he will test you with. DO NOT TAKE HIM. OMG. I WISH I TOOK ANOTHER PROF.
DO NOT TAKE this class. He does not know how to teach. He may know his work. Test are very hard and confusing. Do Not take. Or you will have to teach yourself. DO NOT TAKE. Very hard class. Got a bad grade and I study as hell.
He is a nice guy, but his teaching skills are inconsistent. I had a very hard time in his class. Tests are hard, but he gives a little curve. The class drags on way too much. I would NOT recommend him to anyone,
I would not suggest taking him even if the class is an easy A. This course is not structured which creates unnecessary stress. You will never understand anything that comes out of his mouth and you will never know what is expected of you. You will have to teach yourself everything and he does not use the textbook.
He knows his stuff but he's bad at explaining it (and when he does properly explain something he beats a dead horse). He's a nice guy but there's no mercy when it comes to grading and his tests and homework are unreasonably difficult. Might as well have read the entire hour instead.
NICE GUY, HORRIBLE PROFESSOR. AND I'M A STRAIGHT A STUDENT.The whole year he does not post online grades so you literally come to the end of the term to find out you're failing, when you think you're passing. No straight answers with him. I don't know of anyone getting an A in his class. His test come from his head and have a lot of opinion NO FACT
My Mother taught me if you dont have anything positive to say then keep quiet.
You have to be okay with a "wing it," conversational-style lecture, and in order to understand those lectures, you have to actually read the material before coming to class. The tests are not hard at all if you read the book and online notes. They are all multiple choice. He's very intelligent, but if you need a structured class, he isn't for you.
This professor is amazing. I'm very glad I took him. Last semester I failed biology with an F and I passed his class with a B! His lectures are not too fun but he tries to be funny, I honestly never payed attention to his lectures but you should still study, he is very nice and for his labs you don't need to do a lad report. Great professor!
he talks so much, and will never answer your questions.
Professor Malmos knows his material. In addition to being very knowledgeable, he also seems to genuinely enjoy teaching the material. Because of this, I enjoyed his lectures. He encourages class participation. It's not the easiest class, but it is easily one of the most interesting. I would definitely take this professor again.
Professor Malmos was really easy for me but other students were complaining about him. If you don't read then you will not be able to understand he's talking about. This homeworks & tests are relatively similar. SL sessions helped a lot. I got an A in the class but I really enjoy learning about biology.
Prof. Malmos is awesome! Extremely smart with biology and other sciences. Lectures are good once you figure out his thought process. Typical bio prof. he's a goof, but a great guy and always there to help. Graded on tests, homework, and showing up to lab. Harder course than one would think so don't fall behind!
Malmos is a really good guy honestly, very nice but if you do not excel in AP BIO in high school or biology period you are going to have a super difficult time. He goes off topic very often and does not answer questions, he just talks around them. I would NOT recommend someone to take him.
He is a really nice guy. His teaching maybe wasn't the best, for he just kind of went with the flow and at the beginning of the semester he went off on tangents a lot. Sometimes he focuses too long on things that maybe didn't need that much attention. He did give us study guides and the tests would use the same questions. He doesn't post grades.
He's very helpful and will do anything for you to pass the class.
I already took biology in my country's highschool. As I know everything he explains, I can clearly tell this professor doesn't know how to teach. He focus in one fact and keeps explaining it for the rest of the time while leaving all other facts. Don't take him.
kinda dorky but nice. doesn't do learnsmart which is great. makes his own homework which is similar to the tests. the lab practical is cake if you actually pay attention in lab. our final was take home so another great thing. my second time taking bio and im glad it wasnt hard like the first time.
loves you gives you everything you need to learn i love this professor will to take care of you
Keith Malmos may not be the best public speaker in a classroom but he is very kind, rarely checks attendance, and is pretty lenient on grading tests. His test questions are straight from his homework assignments word-by word. I don't recommend going to every class because he reads off the textbook and tends to constantly digress from the subject.
Professor Malmos is very nice and has a ton of corny humor. His Biological Science class is an easy A. You will be lost during some of his lectures ,but just ask questions and he will personally explain it to you in a way you can understand. This is the perfect class to take to get your science credit if you are not a science or med major.
Tagged Tough Grader since he never hands assignments/tests back or posts grades - I had no idea how I was doing until final grade released a week before graduation - heart attack. Though he's kind and tries to make class fun by humour, he spends all time on something unrelated to material. Attending class wastes time better spent studying alone.
If you can't teach yourself, he's not for you. If you like structure, powerpoints, and knowing what to take notes on, he's still not for you. Going to class is sometimes a waste of time but for sure read the book ahead of time because lectures in class are completely unrelated to the actual content we should learn. He puts in grades @ the last min.
I'll preface this by saying that Mr M is very kind and funny. BUT if you're not strong in science, he isn't the prof for you. Lectures can easily go over your head, so it is vital to read the textbook. You go over hw, which is KEY to passing tests! You don't really have to show up for class, only test and hw days. He doesn't enter grades in CANVAS.
Tests are made up of the homework questions. Grades are not put in till final grades are viewable. He tries to have a sense of humor. Doesn't check attendance that much. Tends to get off topic. You will be teaching yourself.
An Awesome Professor! He tries extra hard to relate the Biology content to what you are knowledgeable in, he is a fantastic teacher to have and wish he could teach more classes. Also wish more professors out there were like he is, as more students would pass.
Most of the time he is just unclear. Ive taken biology about 4 times (I hate science) and some of the things he talked about I had never heard of before. The vocabulary he usues is irrelevant. The only reason I passed is because I have taken biology before. The textbook doesnt help. The homework is literally the same as the exams.
aid back & a nice guy that tries to make corny jokes in class BUT This class was very tough not only for me but majority of my class mates bc of the way he teaches. Don't ask questions because you will be even more confused then before, you WILL be teaching urself and take notes/highlight things that are repeated in lectures, hw questions r on test
I really like and respect Prof. Malmos. He's fun, and his lectures are really interesting. That being said, I took Biology 2 with him, and it felt disorganized. There was so much information, and what to concentrate on was not always made clear. This particular class felt like it was all over the place and I was disappointed.
I didn't like his teaching style. I used to be very good is Science, but every lecture he would pull up the textbook and read off it. There were no assignments to check your understanding, and the tests were fairly hard. He would never tell you what things would be on the test, so good luck reading like 4 chapters, and only 25% being on the test.
Wow where do i start.. he has been the worst professor ive ever had. He lectures by literally reading from the textbook and elaborating slightly we only get homework about 4 times the whole semester. He doesnt give one clear study guide for us to study for the exam. The whole class had to go to tutoring bc it was so bad. Just avoid it at all cost
Only take his class if you want to teach yourself biology!!!! He give NO clear direction. He adds to your confusion with techincal terms. I had the take online because of COVID. He does not have his module in until Monday while you work is due by Friday like at 6pm or 10pm. He changes the times. He does use record any lectures. Beware!!!
Professor Malmos has a genuine zeal for Biology that sparks excitement in students to learn the concepts more in-depth. He's not an easy professor, but he's very present and available for students to come to him with questions. If you put in the work, you'll do well in his course. He is always willing to help his students understand and excel.
Professor Keith is a very kind person. His tone, humor, and laugh was contagious even if I wasn't in the mood. Very caring overall. However, I couldn't help but think that his way of teaching was lackluster. Almost no general guidance, and you might find yourself scrambling for answers without reading the textbook and notes. Wholesome teacher tho.
Lectures weren't mandatory; 10 labs were. Notes or open book on exams. No honor lock. And 3-4 HWS, 2 lab exams which were in person and not open book & one comprehensive final or exam to replace lowest exam. 4 exams. He seems very easy going/personable. Not too strict but willing to answer questions. The class isn't too stringent. You can pass!
He's a very kind person, answers every question helpfully. His lectures are very bland, he somehow speaks lots and little at the same time. He provides online notes that are good guides- the homeworks help prepare for exams (3-4 of them). Your grade is reliant on the exams, so notetaking is key. The labs are fun, just make sure to understand them.
Love this man. He has a real passion for his job and it shows. It's not an easy course but if you pay attention and do what he suggests you can get through it. Little to no hw and the tests are from home but not easy. Come to class and listen, and you'll have a great time this man is super kind and respectful. 10/10 would recommend!!!
Prof. Keith's classes can be hit or miss - his lectures can be dry, but he provides good online resources. Use Unstuck study, the textbook, and attend labs to succeed in this class.
Keith is such a kind and personable professor, loves to chat with the class and constantly is asking for questions or feedback to further drive and engage the class. Little to no direction study wise in regards to tests and the lab practical. Very much a ask questions or be self taught course. Don't skip the labs at all and take notes.
Prof Malmos overall was an amazing professor, you can tell he really cares and is passionate about biology. If you're not into bio his lectures could be a little boring but I think that just goes for any lecture. He likes for people to participate and is a very understanding guy. Make sure to come to lab he grades it and tutoring session from TA.
Professor Malmos is so sweet, very funny, and loves what he does so much, but sometimes his teaching styles is a little jumpy and unorganized but if you go in with prior textbook knowledge it is easier. Material is defiantly heavy and difficult but lots of spaces to get necessary help with the CARE coaches and tutoring.
Lectures are all over the place; talks so much yet so little and ends up skimming through a whole chapter in either 20 min or 1 hour. He left me confused and all over the place. However, he's very kind and always open to answering questions. 4 exams (online), 2 lab exams (easy if you study), 4 HW's (3 attempts). CARE coach is very helpful.
He is probably the best for bio 2. Forget about extra credit as there is none and 400 points out of 700 are unit exams. But these exams are online and really easy to get a good grade on. The only thing that can mess you up are the lab practicals, but if you take pictures of everything and actually do the lab manual you should be fine. He is great.
Easiest class ever. Never went to a single lecture since they weren't mandatory. No Honor lock, so all the homework and tests were a breeze. Completely tanked the lab practical and still walked out with an A. He also drops the lowest test, if that matters to you. Very passionate about what he teaches, great guy!
