This guy makes going to class fun, he plays music before every lecture, makes note-taking easy and interesting, and his quizzes are pretty easy provided that you study for them. The only complaint I have is lack of use for the textbook. highly suggest

Excellent class and teacher. His powerpoints are a bit unorganized, but once you figure out his method, it's easy to fit it to your own note-taking methods. Book is basically worthless, you don't need it. Everything on tests is covered in classes. YOU MUST ATTEND CLASSES, or you won't do well.

I really liked him as a professor. He gives a lot of examples in class that are on the test so make sure you listen and take good notes. When studying study beyond the definitions and know the examples and how it relates to life. He was harder than I expected so make sure you study! Good guy though

Very good teacher. Very enthusiastic and keeps your attention. Also gives a very thorough study guide for every exam a few days before that tells every thing that will be on the test. I def. recommend Markman!! Also answers questions very quickly through email

If you have to take Psy 101, this is your guy! His lectures are not boring, just takes notes from the slides and follow his study guides. You can even skip classes here and there b/c he usually posts his powerpoints on blackboard. Very engaging, thorough, and helpful. I highly recommend him.

Markman is a great guy. I had to retake this class after having Popovich, because her exams are the devil. Keith made the material so much more realistic and easy to understand. His tests aren't real easy, but it's not that hard to find the correct answer. He curves his tests too! He's great. Take him and not Popovich!!!

This guy is awesome very good teacher smart funny. Class is not that easy you have to study and pay attention. Go to class examples are so important you can limp by and pass the class, but I would highly recommend really listening to what hes saying you'll learn a****load and get an A. Tests were not easy, class was perfect.

He is such a cool and funny guy and his classroom is a sweet environment. The exams are tricky but it's cool that he drops your lowest score. Go to class because all of the stories he tells really help you to understand the info.

I wan't very interested in this class when I started, but as time passed he made me really enjoy this class. He was interesting to listen to and used good examples to explain the material.

His lectures were incredibly well put together and he explained everything very clearly. he was helpful beyond all belief, i swear he answered all of my emails within seconds of me sending them. His course was awesome!

He's a goofy guy, which made class interesting. Had a lot of grading opportunities which was good since the tests were harder. I still was able to get an A in the class even though I bombed the midterm and final. Didn't take attendence, has a lot of funny examples- encourages discussion.

Markman is an awesome professor! He's very clear and energetic when giving lectures. The tests are challenging but not impossible. I averaged a B on th e tests, but the psych experiments are very helpful, and easy. He curves pretty well, and I ended up with over 100% in the class! Take Markman!!

Very enthusiastic and fun. I took this class with Alicke (ugh) and had to retook it with Markman. He cracks a lot of jokes and is very easy to follow. I'm pretty sure he checks his e-mail every five minutes so you'll get a lightning-fast response. Don't buy the textbook! You won't need it!

He is a nice guy. Really enthusiastic in his lectures. Going to class makes learning the material MUCH easier. Sometimes his definitions for terms and questions on exams are unnecessarily complex, just dumb em' down. It's a good class. You'll like it.

The class is not hard, I stopped going to class everyday and still did alright in the class. I e-mailed him after my final and asked if he could bump my grade up and he did. He's a funny guy and makes a boring subject interesting.

Take notes on the powerpoint as well as what he says about it. Tests are very hard because he words things a little differently but if you study all you notes and anything that he didn't cover that he gives page numbers for then your golden :)

I am sort of an idiot and I got an A-. Go to class and listen and you'll do fine. Most of the material is straight out of the lectures, and he gave up to 18 points extra credit. Exams will be hard if you don't go to class....

Take Markman instead of Popovich! His tests are easier and he gives more extra credit than her. Markman is funny and clear with his lectures. PSY 101 is known for being pretty hard, but he tries to make it as easy as possible. Just go to class and study and you'll be fine.

Dr.Markan was pretty entertaining and made the class interesting. I recommend going to class even though it's not mandatory.. you sometimes watch videos that he doesn't put online. The first three tests were pretty hard but he curves your final grade by a lot! If you try hard and study a lot before the tests you should be ok

Markman is the man! He makes class very interesting and his tests aren't too bad, as long as you study. He is one of the best professors you will have at OU.

THIS CLASS IS A JOKE. Unless you are an air head, you will get an A in his lecture. If you can't seem to understand things, he even offers loads of extra credit. I cannot fathom how anyone gets lower than an A in this class.

tests are a bit on the hard side, but you can do pretty well if you study, also theres a ton of extra credit and a nice curve at the end

By far one of the best teachers I've ever had. He's really goofy and hilarious, and the information is really interesting too. His tests are easy, there are 5 throughout the quarter, and the only other grade is the psych experiments. DEFINITELY take his class if you can.

One of my favorite professors ever! I learned a lot and taking this class made me want to major in psychology! Dr. Markman makes class fun and interesting. He is a little awkward but it adds to the charm of the class.

He wasn't my best professor but he was very good. His lectures are interesting and he engaged his classes often with videos and games, which are actually pretty fun and make good study examples. He is clear of his expectations and gives a lot of extra credit, so getting a good grade is easy if you study. Though he does cancel class a lot in winter.

If you go to class almost everyday and take notes on what he says you are for sure going to get an A! He postshis lectures online, so focus on your own note taking. He is an interesting teacher and really wants his students to do well. Even if the class is big, take psy with him!

going to class is really boring, he just reads off the powerpoints that he later puts on blackboard. Quizzes are easy if you have the book and you copy the slides down. Its all open book/note. No final which is awesome. make sure you do the extra credit. It really helps your grade.

He was probably one of the best teachers I've had here so far. Roughly a week into class, he very theatrically acted out a stroke and from that point on everyone paid attention. Seems like a goofy and genuinely nice guy. Very interesting classes. It hardly felt like an hour.

I would highly recommend Dr. Markman's class. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities that really boosted my grade. No final - only 10 open-note quizzes, so it's an easy way to get through a gen ed. class like psych. Posts powerpoint notes online and emails back quickly. Dr. Markman is by far the best professor I've ever had. He gives great examples in class which apply to his tests because the same examples given in class WILL BE ON THE TEST! The tests are easy if you study and understand the material. Attend class and you will do fine! He is a great guy and very approachable. He is hilarious and makes class fun!

I loved having Dr. Markman. He makes class fun and enjoyable. Only 5 exams, no cumulative final. Gives a study guide with EXACTLY what to study for exams, easy if you put fourth effort. He also offers extra credit opportunities and curves tests.

If you are taking Psych 101, I would DEFINITELY take Markman. Not a hard class at all, but going to the SI sessions really help. He has been my favorite prof so far! He has a true passion for teaching, and I actually look forward to going to his class daily. TAKE HIM!

Took this professor because I saw reviews that his tests were online and that there was no final. He no longer does online tests but at least he doesn't have a final. Tests are difficult, studied for days and did average at best. Really nice guy, class was always interesting and he gives great examples. The extra credit brought me from C+ to A-!

this class was a lot of work and pretty hard. He gives out extra credit so definitely do that. 5 exams 50 points each and no final. Doesn't assign reading but will have exam questions over it. I wouldn't take it if you dont have to.

I didn't think that Markman's class was too terribly difficult. Although attendance isnt mandatory he does go over some material in class that isn't in the book or the notes. He tells what pages to read for the exams and I would really suggest reading them because it is on the exams. He offers extra credit and is very helpful.

Markman is an awesome professor! He is very informative and easy to listen to. Test questions come from lecture notes and examples given in class. Attendance is not mandatory,but go to hear the examples . Get book. Some topics don't get covered inc class but are on exam. He gives review sheet with these page numbers though. Do the extra credit!

Overall, Markman is a very good professor. I found the material very interesting and he gives good examples in class. Take advantage of the extra credit! Be sure to READ THE BOOK! My test scores improved by the letter grade when I read it. There's always something in the book that he doesn't include in the lecture. Best of luck!

If you actually went to class and did the readings then this class is fairly easy. I found it interesting and Markman is fun and cool so it was easy to pay attention.

i thought Markman's class was kind of hard... BUT!!! with the amount of extra credit he offers, an A is achievable. without the extra credit.. i would have had a C+ in his class because his exams are really hard and those 4 exam grades are the only grades you receive in the class besides the extra credit which are attending psych sessions

Don't need to buy the book, waste of money. He's a funny guy, and knows that not everyone is going to be interested in introduction psych material so he makes it sort of fun. All powerpoints are online but he discusses a lot of stuff in class and gives away a lot of easy test answers.

Loved his class; he was always fun and energetic. He told the best stories and was always connecting what we learned to real-life. I found myself really interested in the lectures and loved learning. Great professor!

I loved this professor! He was super enthusiastic during lecture, as long as the class remained quiet. I never felt the need to attend office hours - because lecture was pretty clear cut. Interesting class overall, no homework or papers. As long as you attend lecture and take solid notes (expanding on the ppt), tests are not bad!

Dr. Markman's class was the best class I took last semester, and because of his class I'm thinking of changing my major to psych. Dr. Markman gave us review sheets and practice quizzes and clearly cared about the students doing well. He's funny and easy to listen to and he really knows his stuff. Highly recommend!

Question and answers every week, very easy. 6 experiments, easy but do it before it is too late. There are ways around attendance but pretty easy class!

I loved my first psychology class with Markman. He IS awkward but I loved that about him and it also made class very interesting and funny. He is a super nice, understanding guy and gives a lot of curves which is super helpful. I wish he taught more classes at OU, I would take every one of them. Highly recommended!!

Markman really tried his best to make class entertaining and I liked going to his lectures! He relates the content back to our everyday lives as well. Going to the lectures is important because he shows videos and examples that usually show up in the exams.

His class can be as easy or as hard as you make it. Hes overall pretty funny and made coming to class at 9 AM woth it. Uses twitter for in class particiapation credit, attendance and to interact with students who have questions about the material or about exams.

I took Prof. Markman's class over the summer and loved it!! Grade was based on weekly discussion posts and quizzes that are open note. Very important to read the textbook for all assignments, but the content isn't too difficult. Easy to get a good grade in this class if you actually put in the work.

The tests were online, open book. Super easy to pass if you go over your notes beforehand.

You have to put in an effort to fail this class. With multiple opportunities for extra credit, it is easy to have enough points to pass.

My only complaint is that he would often cancel class very last minute. There is one final exam which he made online--it was just a compilation of old quizzes. The homework is easy (reading a chapter and writing about it through PackBack). You do not have to show up to every single class to pass.

Dr. Markman is an easy going guy. Quizzes can be a little hard, but they are all open book so make sure you take very good notes and read all the materials. For discussion posts and writing assignments, do the readings and engage with your classmates and it'll be fine. He's also accommodating if you're sick/have a circumstance, just let him know.

I took this online pysch class, super easy. 1 discussion post a week, respond to two people's question, tests were pushed out on Thurs. and due on Sundays, plenty of time to do them, lowest score was dropped, you had slides and the book for review and test answers. Only two writing assignments for the entire class and I got extra credit on both.

I like professor Markman a lot, I thought his lectures were great, and sometimes he did extra credit. I will say his exams can be very difficult, and you definitely need to take a lot of notes to do well with them or use the book that is built into the exam site. Discussion posts are also very easy cause they have interesting topics to write about!

I had him for PSY 4330. Excellent professor, he seems like he truly just wants to teach and pass on knowledge. He has a way of expressing passion in the concepts he covers as well as ensures that he provides extensive applicable examples. His tests are not difficult if you know the content, so know how to apply the concepts and explain them.

Great professor, very knowledgeable for what he is talking about. All his exams are taken online open note at home and are through a proctored website. If you pay attention in class it is really easy to pass.

Choices and happiness was a super interesting capstone course. There was a lot of overlap with Dr. Markmans social psych class. The class is chill for a 4000 level psych course. The quizzes are just 2 essay questions which we grades easy. The only con is that he takes a while to actually post guidelines for assignments which is frustrating.
