I have learned more from this professor than i have in my entire schooling career. not hard but challenging. taught me how to write a perfect paper. he has a great sense of humor. very down to earth. willing to help if you put forth the effort to ask. not an easy A, but gets you ready for the rest of your college career. i recomend mr. needham.
He was the most incredible teacher I've ever had the priveledge to listen to. He is competent, clear, and intelligent. Further, he really CARES about our grades. I'm sad that he left Texas. I heard that he is teaching in Oregon.
Dude is AMAZING. I was sad to learn that he went to teach on the east coast.
I loved this class. I was in the last class that he taught in Texas before he moved to the West Coast. Lucky Oregon!
I hate that he left Texas. He was the best teacher I've ever known. Lucky Oregon.
Great guy, but he assigns way too much work. I have more work for him every week than most of my professors assign for an entire semester. It's ridiculous. I'm not sure why everyone thinks he moved to Oregon. He's still here, guys.
Mr. Needham is an amazing teacher, and he has a great sense of humor. I was never bored in his class, and I learned SO much. He says that you need to always bring the textbook but you don't...
he is a really good teacher. and he is funny! he grade for class participation so always give him feedback.
He's a great teacher, entertaining and hilarious, but know your grammar extremely well or you will not do well.
His world lit is so much harder than his freshmen classes. Nonetheless he is my favorite professor. He's amazing and HILARIOUS. You will never be bored. You'd be stupid to not take him
Mr. Needham is the most beneficial professor I've had in my college career, and it is a pity I didn't discover him earlier. He has helped me perfect my writing and grammar knowledge and has entertained me every class period. Take this professor, you won't regret it!
Mr. Needham is one of the best teachers I've had in college. I am a much better writer thanks to him. Plus, he's hilarious! Never boring. I noticed comments about him moving to Oregon and someone said "the east coast." I hope they weren't referring to Oregon (retake Geography dude). Beware, Needham's quizzes are HARD. But he's still a badass.
He is really funny and interesting. One of the best teachers at tx state
I absolutely loved him as my teacher! His lectures will cover everything you read for homework, but he can use different ways of teaching so you can relate better if you're worst subject happens to be English... (like mine is). He's hilarious, too! Would take him again if I needed more English classes. You should always keep up with the readings.. Quizzes almost every class, which are easy if you actually do the reading. Tests are also easy, IF you read.
I had his class at 12:30 pm and a few times I showed up at 12:29 pm and the door would be closed and the class would be taking a quiz. When my wife was in the hospital due to complications with our first child I sent him and email explaning the situation he refused to excuse 2 absences for me and even made fun of it in class. He is a DB...
I have to say he easily one of the best teachers I have ever had. I would suggest anyone who has a chance to take his class. He does what a great teacher would do and shows his students that he cares about their future. Someone that is valuable to future teachers.
He is goofy and makes class entertaining. He makes exactly what he wants in your work very clear and precise, so you really must attend class if you want a good grade on your essay, at least until he is done with explaining all of his "rules". I would recommend him to anyone. P.s. if he tells you to read something do it because there will be a quiz
This guy is very funny. He always has hilarious stories to relate to the reading assignments. I loved his class
He is one of the best teachers i've had ! he goes over everything you need to know before the test. You must show up to class though because you have a quiz everyday and you need your book EVERYDAY! otherwise you won't know what to highlight. Overall he is an awesome teacher and i would recommend him to anyone.
I can not tell you enough but trust me- take someone else! He has a strict policy on attendance and locks the door and starts a quiz if you're 1 minute late. HE HAS ASSIGNED SEATING and treats students like children. Would say things like "well because I'm right and that's just the way it is"... No good for free-thinkers like myself.
BEST PROFESSOR AT TEXAS STATE!! Mr. Needham loves his job! He make class fun and amusing! He is a tough grader but WILL make you a better writer! If you go to class and TRY he will help you. I received a C on my first paper and after that I made 3 B's and an A he works extremely hard to help you be successful! Take him for English!!!
You have to go to class, but this dude is funny, so it makes the time fly. Quiz almost everyday on reading. Exams are straightforward. No sense in trying to email him though. His Assistant will return your emails.
Great teacher, he keeps his students engaged the whole time. Somehow he is able to get a class of two hundred to have a whole class discussion. Very funny and refreshing especially if you don't like being lectured to. You use your book a lot, but if you highlight what he tells you to that's all you need to study for the tests. GREAT TEACHER!!
He was a great teacher. He has quizzes at the beginning of every class over the material assigned, but they are super easy!!
Wonderful professor! His exams are kind of difficult since you usually have to write an essay and answer 70 multiple choice questions in an hour and 20 mins, but his class is very interesting. He's very entertaining and gets you to think outside the box. If you're willing to put some effort in studying, he is totally worth taking!
One of the funniest professors I've had yet. You have reading every night, but it isn't much. I get it done in less than 30 minutes. You don't have to worry about finding the "hidden meaning", he explains everything which is really helpful. You have to pay attention to a lot of detail, but it is a good class, fairly easy too.
Great teacher. He explains exactly what he is going to take points off of for an essay. He is one of the few English teachers I have taken that actually explains Grammer rules and everything else related to English.
Needham is m favorite professor so far. Hes funny, clear in his lectures, tells alot of stories, and is just a really cool guy. Hs quizzes are very hard and gives one EVERY CLASS. His tests are also really hard and time consuming. That being said,if you go to class each day then you will do fine.
Class is every entertaining Needhams "momma" stories are sure to keep you awake. "My momma. . .". As far as the 2360 course the readings are very eye opening to the moral questions of american society today and previous generations. The authors read really found a genius way to convey their messages.
Daily quizzes every class (drops 3) after 3 absences you lose a letter grade and his tests care more about the authors bio's than the novels. Very entertaining, but can be obnoxious at least once or twice a class. Always is giving his TA (Maclhon) so much crap, honestly surprised he hasn't hit him yet he's way bigger than Needham. Don't Take him!!!
Daily quizzes over small details in the reading, can't just read sparknotes. His tests are hard and require studying, but he's a funny and energetic teacher.
Needham is kind of funny, kind of obnoxious. Injects his own conservative beliefs into lectures far too often. Tests are hard, quizzes easy, and the attendance policy is harsh. Lectures were mostly incredibly boring, with a few semi-entertaining anecdotes thrown in just to make sure the whole class doesn't fall asleep. The reading was interesting.
Needham is hilarious! Definitely NOT an easy class, but one of the best professors I've ever had. There is a quiz everyday over content of what you read and there are 4 tests total. Take good notes over everything said in class because it will be on the test. Mandatory attendance but missing a class will definitely make you be behind! Great teacher
Interesting professor. If you are the kind of creative learner like me, you would probably like this class. It exposed me to a lot of great literature. He states his opinion a lot, but you can tell what's his opinion and what will be on the tests. Tests are fair. Two in-class essays that are VERY basic. He tells you everything you need to write.
Needham's class has been my favorite at Texas State so far. He is hilarious and explains the text coherently and in a way that is interesting.
He is probably the strictest teacher at Texas State I thought I was going to hate this guy. Turned out to be my favorite professor of all time! He is really funny and keeps your attention. I hope I can take another one of his classes again soon.
Really engaging as a lecturer, very funny guy. Daily quizzes are easy if you read the material. Tests are ridiculous though, not because they are that hard (though not really easy) but because they are WAY too long for the time frame given for taking them, especially the ones with an essay component. Just ridiculously long.
TAKE NEEDHAM!!! He is the best professor I have ever had. Trust me. I had to retake this course because I got a D a few semesters back with a different professor. He is so engaging and although the daily quizzes may seem like a pain, they help you keep on track with the course. Now I'm getting grade an A, and I actually enjoy going to class!
He is by far the best professor I have ever had. He is clear, interesting, and overall a helpful professor. TAKE HIS CLASS. It is great. Its challenging but it is so interesting. He is so funny and helpful that it doesn't seem as hard.
I love Mr.Needham ! Even though the material is challenging and the essays are hard, trust me, you will not regret taking him! I literally look forward to every class, he incorporates the funniest things into his lectures and gets the material across at the same time. TAKE HIM.
Before I took his class I would never have read the stories we study on my own. I'm a very literal person, hard time seeing all the meanings an author is trying to convey but Needham breaks things down in a way that you feel like you have just solved a puzzle. It was so gratifying to finally be able to appreciate decent classic literature.
Amazing professor! He constantly keeps you engaged, and has funny stories to tell every class. However, the tests are difficult. Requires a lot of studying. I would recommend Needham to anyone taking a lit. class!
Mr. Needham is one of the best English professors on the planet. He won teacher of the year, and it's not hard to see why. I learned more in his one semester than I've learned in all of my high school years. He will keep you entertained all class with his stories. And if you actually try, you'll do well. TAKE HIM.
class is challenging, not going to lie. quiz questions are meticulous (pay very close attention to details). prof is entertaining and helps you with the course. fun class! write down everything he says esp advice for writing exam papers. worked my butt off and got a C, but i'd take the class over if i could.
By far one of the most difficult teachers I have ever had. However, his class is well worth your time. The challenge is worth the struggle because he wants his students to do the best they can. He made me cry once but in the long run I'd take his class again solely to gain the knowledge he is able to supply. Best English professor ever.
While I want to dislike the guy, I wish I could take another class from him. Got a lot out of a class I had little interest in. He's full of himself but funny. Very clear on test material. Don't over think the essay portion of tests and go see the TA's if you don't do well on them. Easy A if you go to class. Intense attendance policy. GO TO CLASS!
HILARIOUS!! He is constantly making you laugh by using real life stories about himself to relate to the stories. Each class he breaks down the story you read before class so you understand better. Theres a daily quiz over a short 5 page story you read which aren't bad if you've read. The tests are a little difficult because these subject is hard.
I HATE ENGLISH! But after taken professor Needham, I couldn't have loved it more. He is hilarious and makes the class worth coming to. You NEED the textbook because a lot of material that are on the test, he will literally point it to you in the book. There is an easy quiz every class and the essays are straight forward. Lovers this class!
AWESOME TEACHER! I was always a C student in english until I took his class. Mr. Needham has been teaching for over 20 years and is really strict on grading but he keeps class exciting with funny stories and he tells you EXACTLY what he wants the essays to say so its easy to get a good grade if you just do exactly what he says. He makes it simple!
Class was fairly simple. Needham is HILARIOUS. Kind of crude humor, sometimes slightly rude. Class itself was not great. Daily quizzes off of reading, that are pretty hard. Tests also pretty difficult but doable if you study diligently.
I always hated English until I took Mr. Needham's class. He is an amazing professor and I actually enjoyed going to his class. Yes there are lots of quizzes, but as long as your look over your notes from class you are sure to pass. He is funny and makes the class interesting. DEFINITELY TAKE HIM!!!
This class kicked my butt. Needham is a very interesting, funny, and engaging teacher but the material is difficult. Daily quizzes over readings. Cell phone policy is insane, but worth it because you really do pay attention. As great of a teacher as he is, I don't think I would take him again. You can find much easier classes out there.
I absolutely love professor Needham! He makes you work for your grade, but if you do the readingsattend class, you should do well. As far as the essay portion, he makes it very clear as to what he is looking for. He is HILARIOUS & makes the lectures enjoyable to attend. If you're lazy and take college as a joke, this class isn't for your sorry ass
Keith Needham was an excellent professor! You must attend class because you have daily quizzes over the reading assignment from the previous night. He makes class very enjoyable by telling personal stories that are just outright hilarious! A lot of studying is required for tests and they have many components but if you put in effort, it isn't bad.
He is an amazing teacher but he is tough. You gotta read and put in the work to get the grade you want but he is engaging as well as a great teacher. He wants to help and guide his students so much and he cares I would love to take him again.
Needham is very specific on quizzes and tests. Rudely told me to put my phone away in class or I would be kicked out... and doesn't let you use the restroom or You will not let back in. He's not that funny, crude at times, and goes off on personal stories for half the class.... wouldn't take ever again.
i loved needham!! He was rude, but in a hilarious way. Textbook is essential, must read! He gives quizzes everyday, but theyre super easy. He's clear on what he expects as far as exams. You'll do fine as long as you study and pay attention. He ended up dropping our lowest exam grade bc of good class participation.
Professor Keith Needham is by far one of the most inspirational, motivational, and truly helpful teacher I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Yes there is a quiz every class but if u read u'll be fine. he knows how to connect to his students and his passion for teaching pours out during every single lecture, u will be lucky to have him as a prof.
Mr. Needham is pretty cool and really nice, but at the same time I am pretty sure he is the only University Seminar teacher that makes you actually read the book. Quizzes over it every class. One group project was pretty easy and thoroughly explained all of the online stuff that was required.
He was one of the toughest professors i have ever had. His class is a ton of fun and paying attention is really easy. He is very helpful, and his expectations are clear. He really makes you work for the grade. He gives quizzes almost every class. You have to read the assignments. You have to come to class.
Allow atleast an hour & 12 to read before each class ! read the stories 2 too 3 times before class ! there will be a quiz each class period and they are somewhat difficult! Writing portions on atleast 2 test, he tells you what you have to write about, but you have to memorize atleast a page and a half of information too do decent ! he is hilarious
Horrible Class. Hard.
Prof. Needham ranks pretty high on my list of favorite professors. Although the material is not very interesting to me, he finds ways to get everyone involved and get you to think deeper instead of just reading the stories or poems that he assigns. 10 ? quiz at beginning of class, reviews for tests, you MUST study tho. He's great, no lie.
I learned more about grammar and punctuation than I have in my last 18 years of high school. He's a TOUGH teacher no doubt about it, but if you participate you will learn SO much. There is usually something due everyday, so DO NOT SKIP. The ONLY THING that bothered me about him, was that he makes very offensive jokes.
Those who say he's bad don't appreciate a great teacher and just want an easy A. Mr. Needham is extremely intelligent and has been teaching like 25 years but still cracks jokes and messes with students. Ya, He's a hard grader and you have to commit to get a good grade, but he literally writes out EXACTLY what you have to do to pass each assignment.
Professor Neeham rocks!!! I had him for my seminar class. He clearly loves his job and has a passion for helping students succeed. You honestly have to try to fail this class. No tests, obviously. There's small book quizzes that are super easy, you can read the chapter before class. He's an awesome teacher, and a great man!
I love this professor. He is absolutely brilliant, he knows what he is talking about. He is the most hilarious teacher I have ever had. Within the first week of classes, I was already in tears from laughter. Get ready to have to read and pay attention, but totally worth it.
Though Mr. Needham is hilariously entertaining, he is also a strict, goal oriented professor who takes pride in his job. If you're looking for an easy 1310 experience, don't take him. However, if you're interested in becoming competent writer, taking his class is a must--I'm looking at you, English majors. I have never enjoyed a class more than his
He's an awesome professor. I wouldn't have thought English literature would be a class I look forward to go to. He's hilarious. But must show up to class, can't be late, no phones out, and quizzes daily. His lectures are interesting and he cracks jokes. Must take notes. He literally will tell you what's on the test you just have to pay attention.
Professor Needham rocks! Is he crude/blunt at times? Absolutely. But he discusses the readings in such a unique and awesome way and encourages class discussions, so no one really minds. If you enjoy giving feedback on writings, this is the class to join. Also, he is known for putting student responses on tests, so pay attention to your peers!
There are readings every day and you will have a quiz every class over them. Test will about 60 multiple choice and an essay. He's always trying to be funny but he's really just annoying.
Amazing Professor! (am currently taking him for ENG 2359) There are reading quizzes each class which count for your attendance&grade and there are also 4 tests, 2 of which have essays. If you do the readings the quizzes are super easy, and he hints the essay topics constantly to the point of giving it to you. Class is always super fun! Would reccom
By far one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. Quiz everyday over the readings and four total tests. Every quiz and test are extremely detailed. You pretty much have to know every word of every reading assignment. Nice and funny teacher in lecture, but extremely difficult.
Seems scary at first but he's very nice and helpful if you want it. A lot of work that you HAVE to do but nothing too terribly hard.
Alright, since I could only use 3 tags above I'll have to add here that he is hilarious and his lectures are phenomenal and moving. Many times I spoke with my peers about how his humor really keeps you awake and engaged. I have yet to find a prof with the passion and dedication he has for his work. Also, he loves class participation, so speak up!!!
Needham really is a great professor. So, you have 4 tests throughout the semester. Everyday you have a 10 question quiz over reading from the night before. The readings each night aren't long but you have to read. This class could possibly be the most boring class if it weren't for him. I enjoyed going to class everyday. He is so funny.
I really wish he was not so sexist because he's a great professor otherwise. Really interesting and funny lectures. Daily quizzes are tough but overall help your grade.
Gives daily quizzes that are easy if you do the reading. Reading doesn't take more than 30-45 minutes. Take really good notes and pay attention and you'll do fine. Try not to miss class because quiz average can make a difference in your final grade. Mr. Needham is one of the most interesting professors I've taken and makes the literature more fun.
I never grade professors, but Needham was great. His humor and lectures are funny (makes jokes about gender, religion, celebs, idiots in general). Readings/quizzes EVERYDAY that aren't too bad (20%). Four exams (80%), with exams 1 and 3 having essays along with 70 MC questions, 2 and 4 are just 70 MC no essay. Makes boring readings interesting
Needham makes lecture incredibly interesting which is often hard to do in an English course. If you skip class you will miss quizzes which impact your grade. You need to read every night to stay on top of the quizzes. Tests are somewhat hard because you are required to fill in missing words from poetry but just read and take notes in lecture.
I really learn a lot taking Needham's writing class. His jokes are extremely crass, so those who are easily offended, beware. He gives you plenty of resources, like previous essays that let you know what he expects from you. Prepare for the reading quizzes that he gives at least once a week. They're not always the easiest.
Amazing professor! Still keep up with him to this day! Will make a difference in your life, not only with your grammar.
Hands down the best professor I have had so far. He's absolutely hilarious if you're not easily offended. He really takes time in going over the material and making sure you know what will be on the test. He's great!
Professor Needham enjoys teaching, makes lectures very interesting. Very clear grading criteria. The best professor I've had at Texas State! You will learn and enjoy this class very much!
You MUST read the book. Hilarious lectures and in depth conversations with the class. Great professor, but if literature is not your strong suit, like me, take someone easier.
Honestly the best professor I have had yet. He is funny but he makes sure everyone understands what needs to be done. He has clear expectations on what he wants and you will be good if you follow them!
Seriously my favorite professor, and I don't even like literature. He made each lecture exciting. He taught the class in a fun way, and he always related the material to personal stories to where the class would understand. I never missed a class because of the quizzes and honestly because I enjoyed being there. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.
Mr. Needham is sarcastic and witty. He is hilarious but beware if you are easily offended. I always left the class thinking, which was great. His exams are difficult, but if you pay attention, and study several days prior, you will do well. Attendance is not mandatory but this is not a class you want to miss. He has daily quizzes. Take seriously!!
i absolutely loved mr. needham. he's a nice and caring professor. he was hilarious during lectures and was very passionate about teaching. taught class very well and orderly, making all topics and grammar easy to undserstand. tough grader, but i guarantee you will leave every class learning something new. study for quizzes! they were a bit tough.
Needham is super strict but lectures are humorous and enjoyable. No papers or HW, just 4 tests (2 multiple choice + essay, 2 only multiple choice) and daily quizzes that count as attendance. He only mentions what is necessary. Tests are very tricky. Must take notes!
He is a really funny guy who tries to make this class as interesting as he can. Of course, there is a ton of reading with daily quizzes that count as attendance. You should go if you want to get a B, at least. The exams are harder than expected and its a lot of memorization. He is great, the material - not so much.
Mr. Needham is the best professor I ever. He assigns reading passages from the textbook and gives reading quizzes over the readings, which one must read critically to pass. He also gives grammar quizzes that only include information covered in class. He gives multiple examples of the essays he expects you to write so it is clear what he expects.
Keith is my favorite professor at Texas State so far. He's so funny and is a great lecturer. He makes the material easy to understand. His grading methods are straightforward which i like. 4 tests and a quiz over the reading everyday which is how he takes attendance. Be sure to study hard for the tests though! I would def recommend him to anyone.
I took Mr. Needham's 1301 and 1302 english classes, and I loved it. I've learned more in his class than I have in high school english classes. He grades strictly, but he prepares you for each essay and makes sure that you understand every concept/rule he grades. He seems to genuinely care about his students and wants each of them to do their best.
Mr. Needham somehow made it possible for me to not go insane during any of our 3 hour night classes. His lectures are great, and he really makes sure you know what you're doing before you get in the classroom. This was probably the heaviest work load I've ever encountered in a class, but Mr. Needham is very clear about his expectations.
Mr. Needham is one of the best professors/teachers that I have ever had. He made a subject that I hate somewhat enjoyable. He's hilarious and has no problem keeping students' attention.
He's funny, although often tangential in his lectures. Stories are interesting and his lectures are fun. Tests are very specific although he gives you the necessary information to succeed. Expect to read a lot and study even more if you want to do well. Recommended if you enjoy learning and are willing to work hard for this class.
I LOVEEEEE PROF NEEDHAM!! He is so hilarious! You will have to write 5 papers throughout the semester. He is very clear on his grading criteria so make sure to follow his instructions carefully! And don't be afraid to ask questions. Also, be prepared to read because there are quizzes! However, these quizzes are easy 100's, if you read the material
Super funny instructor who keeps you engaged, easy to follow while he lectures, makes learning practical to every day matters.
His lectures were fun and very interesting I will give him that! He also does give you the test answers however you will need to do a lot of studying because the test questions and answers are very specific. I don't want to bash him because of his TA, but his TA was horrid in my semester and graded very harshly for a simple lit class.
I came into this class dreading every minute of it. I used to hate reading but Professor Needham really made this class very enjoyable. He is absolutely hilarious, if you get offended easily, check your emotions upon entering class. Theres a daily quiz which are very specific but if you read the material it is an easy A. Be prepared to read, ALOT.
I had him for University Seminar, which was quite possibly the worst decision of my freshman career. By all means try every resource known to man to not take his class. He makes what should be an easy class exceedingly difficult by strict policy's and has a very uncomfortable sense of humor. I only saw him once a week but it was still too much.
Needham is my favorite professor at Texas State. Hes confident in the material (which is challenging) so he is great at teaching it so that you understand it. Wish I needed another English course so that I could take him again. He makes sure youre prepared for the tests and the quiz at the beginning of each class is an easy way 2 help your grade.
His interesting lectures and good sense of humor makes you look forward to his class. He tries to relate the stories to the real world. Do not be late. There is a quiz everyday over the assigned readings. Really try to understand them and you'll do fine. Your attendance is based off of quizzes. (Don't show up, you get a 0 for the day)
Needham is honestly the best English teacher I've ever had. His humor can be a little extreme for some, but I personally enjoyed it. Showing up for class is not mandatory, but if you don't show up you will miss out. He doesn't slack off as a teacher so this isn't a blow off class, but he doesn't make it overly difficult if you participate.
Professor Needham is undoubtedly my favorite professor ever. He relates the lecture material to current events or things that he has gone through and you will inevitably laugh or at least crack a smile each class. I would love to take him again.
I love Keith. Keithy is amazing
Hands down best teacher I have ever had. He is absolutely hilarious and really knows his material. I am currently taking the second part of his class as an English elective and it is the only class I am truly excited to go to. He is very clear with what he wants on the tests and his quizzes are fairly easy if you read.
Professor Needham is someone who keeps their lectures exciting. I know that even when I am tired, I will be able to stay awake in his class. He has a NO PHONE/NO LEAVING DURING CLASS(not emergency) policy. It keeps people in class and distractions OUT. There are quizzes every class period testing on the stories we read, drops lowest 3.
I have had many professors over the years, but Professor Needham is by far the best professor I have ever had. He makes these otherwise confusing and- for lack of a better word- boring stories interesting. His lectures are humorous and insightful, and he never disregards students' ideas. He really cares about us! Thank you, Mr. Needham!
Professor Needham is my absolute favorite professor at Texas State! This is my second time taking one of his classes, and it was just a good as the first time. You do have to go to class, there are quizzes every day for attendance but they're pretty easy and he drops 3 at the end of the semester. He's hilarious if you like self deprecating humor
Hands down the best professor at Texas State. He is one of the few professor who actually care about you. There is a lot of reading and make sure to study for the test.
There is a quiz everyday over what you were supposed to read and he is strict about staying the entire class period. the quizzes are tough but he says he drops 3 and drops more than that. The class itself was tough but Needham as a teacher is amazing. He is so real and honest about everything and made reading poems actually interesting. love him
Needham genuinely cares about his students and wants them to do good! Be ready to read or youll be lost on the daily quizzes. He is really nice and makes you question things in life a lot.
Amazing professor! His lectures were always fun and interesting and I never had to dread going to class. He truly cares about his students and always cared about what we had to say. Just always do your readings for easy daily quizzes and study for the exams. He is very clear in what he is putting on the exams. I'm taking him again next semester!
Professor Needham was by far my favorite prof! His lectures were always extremely interesting, I always found myself surprised when class was over because I was that invested in what we were discussing. If you have the chance to take Needham, DO IT!! You won't regret it!
Professor Needham was awesome! The required readings are extremely interesting and his discussions are hilarious!! The tests are challenging, I had to study around 15 hours per test to make As. However, if you put in the work this class is so rewarding!!
Needham is a passionate professor who clearly loves his job & students. He has review days before all exams (which he curves) & they are VERY helpful. He doesnt assign ANY homework (except daily readings that will be discussed in lecture). There are daily quizzes over the readings, so READ. He even drops the lowest quiz grades. TAKE HIM ! Im
Mr. Needham really knows what he's teaching and teaches it well. A lot of quizzes and daily grades to boost overall grade. Gives you ample opportunity to get help and ask questions (take advantage of it!!!). Lectures were engaging and he knows how to be fun but serious too. great professor overall
Prof. Needham is a really great professor and this is coming from someone who doesn't like English at all. He keeps the class interesting but you have to read EVERY night because there is a quiz before class every period. if you pay attention to lecture you should pass the class
Keith Needham is an awesome professor that actually cares about his students and their success. Show up to class, do the assigned readings and you will be just fine.
I don't understand how or why he has good ratings. He makes his class unnecessarily difficult for a required sophomore level undergraduate class. He says so many offensive things and acts like he's giving a sermon in every class. He also brings up politics and how much he loathes his "liberal department" on the daily. I regret taking this class.
I love English and writing. However, Mr. Needham made me dislike English for the first time ever. He doesn't care about the content of your essay except that the grammar is perfect. If it is not, you will get graded very harshly. He's not a bad professor just kind of crushed my creativity and hopes and dreams in the pursuit of perfect grammar.
Mr. Needham is probably one of the best teachers Ive had in a while, he definitely made students want to attend his class and he is hilarious and loves his students and his job, not many teachers do. I always liked going to his class and always left in a good mood because his lectures are very funny and interesting. Wish I could take him again.
I LOVED having Professor Needham. He did seem a bit intimidating at the beginning of the semester but I quickly realized that he is just a really outgoing professor. His lectures are awesome and I always enjoyed going to his class. There quizzes every class though. Syllabus says he drops 3 quizzes, but he ended up dropping more than 3.
Needham is one of the best profs Ive ever had. His class can be challenging but hes a great guy and hes really funny and makes you look forward to going to class even if you think lit is extremely boring like me. Only wish I couldve gotten an A because his tests have a lot of random quotes you must memorize.
Needham makes the literature interesting and understandable. Tests are mostly memorization from what he emphasizes in class. Essay portion of the tests have very clear, but harsh grading requirements and can seriously hurt your grade if you mess up.
Hes a breath of fresh air because of his humor, honesty, and love for teaching. Hes a consistent grader, and he wants his students to succeed. He makes himself available during class time for questions, and he provides clear instructions. I absolutely loved him as a professor! Thank you for making my last undergraduate semester super enjoyable!
Professor Needham is so funny Im upset that I only had him for a 5 week summer course instead of a full semester. Hes knowledgeable and makes the material relatable/easier to understand. Overall, hes a great professor. I cannot stress enough how hilarious he is. 10/10 recommend.
his class used to not be so hard until he they changed into writing intesive half the class is falling an its only been half the semester. you have to recall certain lines in you're readings and explain them. he doesn't tell you what to study you have to study everything you read. his class is really hard do not take it unless u like stress!!!
Youre expected to read an average of four to six short stories and be quizzed on every detail about them at the beginning of every class. He doesnt do the grading its all done by the two IAs. If youre lucky youll get your papers graded by the more lenient one. Office hours are zero help and so is emailing the professor.
LOVE needham & HATE the class. Get ready to put in countless numbers of hours for this class. Quizzes every class. 4 exams. 2 exams are 30 mc & essay while the other two exams are 30 mc & 7 short answer. Needham is extremely smart and funny, but the class requires lots of work. The book is definitely needed. Very rewarding if you can pass the class
Professor Needham is amazing!! Hes someone you will never forget. None of the third level English classes are fun. I dropped one and decided to take this one. You wont regret it!
If it wasn't for the fact that all grading is done by IA's who don't give partial credit for at least getting the point across on quizzes. I've never had trouble with an English course before now. I'm pretty sure he writes the positive reviews on here. This class is ridiculously difficult for an English course, even my advisor said so today.
LOVE Prof. Needham as a person, hate the class. It is so unnecessarily hard & I've always done well in this subject until I took this course. He helps his students out as much as he can (drops grades, goes over tests beforehand, some free 100's) but the material is just crazy specific... always felt defeated by the attendance quizzes
This course was the most challenging course I've taken. I was panicked for the first couple of months, wondering how I was going to pass with short answer quizzes at the beginning of every single class day and essay/short answer exams, but I'm SO glad I stuck it out. He's an amazing, funny instructor and you will learn A LOT.
Needham is the one of the best professors at TXST. Yes, he has daily quizzes from the textbook and the questions are based off specific lines, but once you get used to it, it isn't that hard. He helps you out a lot at the end of the semester by dropping quizzes. A very caring person and his lectures are amazing!! Loved this class.
he was the best professor I've ever had. He really cared about teaching you, and I actually learned so much. He's a really tough grader, but he's definitely worth taking
daily quizzes are easy if you read the stories twice, like he suggests. There are enough daily quizzes to take a few bad grades (and he drops your 3 lowest grades). He is a great and funny professor that will literally tell you which parts of the stories are important for the tests.
Amazing Professor. If you listen to lectures you will do great. He lets you know specifically what will be on the exams for each reading. He is super nice, makes jokes, and you can tell he wants to make it as easy as possible for his students to be successful. Literally just go to class and pay attention and you will do fine in this class.
This professor was funny at times and loved to interact with students in class. Beware, there are daily quizzes in his class. He drops like 3 of them though so if you have to miss class one day, it won't hurt your grade that bad.
I miss Keith Needham so much. His class was a bit difficult due to quizzes every class over the readings but he will drop a few quizzes. I miss going to his class so much because he was the funniest person I've ever met. He is such a great guy and keeps the class super engaged. 10/10 recommend.
I had to take this as a hybrid class. Only graded on 4 exams (essays), so you have to do well on them. He helped us understand the readings in class and outlined exactly what we needed to do for the essays. I looked forward to his classes bc he's entertaining and friendly. This is an easy A if you read & pay attention in class! Take Needham!
I don't understand his high ratings, this guy was incredibly frustrating to listen to every day. He's constantly saying blantly false things, and going off on random political tangents about how much he apparently hates everyone he works with because of their politics. I don't think he went one day without complaining about this sort of thing.
