Keith is funny as hell. However I found him to be more helpful than funny.
Keith is a nice guy and a good teacher. I have tried to take this class before and due to not understanding the teacher I had to drop. Keith was so easy to understand if your not good at math he is the teacher to have. Homework is extra credit and quizzes are take home. I found as long as I attended class and took notes I did well on exams.
I dropped MTH last term because I couldn't understand it at all, but decided to try again and Keith made the material very easy to understand! If you attend, take notes, and do the HW I don't see how you wouldn't get an A. His tests are easier than the HW. He is extremely helpful and NICEif you're confused. I would take him for all MTH if possible.
A great teacher who provides clear lectures and is always there to answer questions whether in class or online. He gives lots of review for tests and also hands out take home quizzes and occasionally take home parts of test. REALLY AWESOME that the class does rely mostly on test scores but on the take home quizzes as well. AWESOME CLASS GREAT TEACH
Keith is the best math teacher I have ever had. I was so scared to take MTH 111 cause I heard from other students it was nearly impossible, but Keith is crystal clear and super patient. He goes slow through each problem so that it's easy to understand and easy to follow. He never makes you feel dumb when you ask a question, and he won't trick you.
My favorite math teacher of all time, he made math seem simple and easy.
He is very helpful and is awesome and making things clear. I loved this teacher and would recommend him to anyone. Just make sure you go to class everyday.
Great sense of humor! I always look forward to his interesting facts of the day. It was his first time teaching Statistics and I could tell he was a little nervous, and he did have a lot of typos on the handouts. But hands down, best math teacher I've ever had, so patient and explains concepts in a way I understand. Wish he taught 244.
He is the best math teacher I have taken so far! Although the material is complicated, he was able to make it really easy to understand and follow along. It was clear what he wanted from us on the quizes (take home), and exams. I really enjoyed this class and would highly recommend him as a teacher.
This class was tougher than I expected. Lots of self learning and assignments. But the teacher was great and I utilized the tutoring center. I recommend staying caught or you'll fail. The final is worth 50% of grade for this class.
Best teacher I have ever had at Chemeketa! Clear and concise in lecture, has teaching and his lecture plans down to a science. His help outside of the classroom is really helpful! And he really prepares you for the test! Homework is optional but I recommend it.
To some, math is boring subject, but Keith does a very good job to make it interesting and easy to understand. His class lectures are short that way you get exposed to a concept and are able to digest for the next class. It worked very well for me, because I have a shorter attention span. Putting in time by doing the homework is the key to passing.
Failed math the first term, took Keith the next and received a B! Funny guy, very nice and helpful, makes assignments clear and is always willing to take the time to make sure everyone understands. He is a great teacher and made math easy to understand.
I have never been a master at math, but after taking incredible Math 70 & 95 instructors, I figured that I could pass this class with ease, but I was wrong. Keith taught at university level for a while, and he carries the university mentality still sometimes it seems like. He's an awesome guy, and incredibly smart, but he's not the greatest teacher
Keith is amazing. Im a freshman at chemeketa and I'm taking the same math i took my senior year of high school. In high school i didn't understand anything in class because of the teacher but this year i understand everything. He explains everything so well. Notes are on handouts and to study for tests just use the notes & he gives take home quizze
I really loved the class you have only one quizz per week. :)
Best teacher I have had at chemeketa thus far. Homework is optional; a huge plus in my book. Keith uses handouts that make the information much easier to understand, and makes not taking a breeze. Allows a full page of notes on tests and two pages (single sided) on the final. I wish he taught every math class. I would definitely take again!
I finished this class very early and it was by far the hardest class I've ever taken. This teacher was kind of rude to me too when I emailed him about a few different things. I know that I deserved a higher grade for ALL the work I put in. The final was around 8 pages too! I'll never take any of his classes again!
Mth111 isn't easy, but if you're self-motivated/disciplined, Keith is an excellent online instructor. He's willing to go out of his way to ensure you get what you need, and will help you until you understand a concept completely. Mth111 always has a ton of homework, and some of it is tough, but his quizzes and tests are very friendly comparatively.
He doesn't require homework.
Amazing math teacher! Funny, patient, kind. Very easy to understand. Makes learning math fun, and dare I say - EASY. The in class handouts are brilliant. The take home quizzes and homework being graded only as extra credit really takes the excess stress out of learning math while juggling the rest of life. I will never forget him!
As long as you take the time to do the homework and make sure to ask question when you don't understand, you will receive a B or an A. Although in the beginning lectures are kind of slow, it picks up quite fast. Don't get behind on homework. Just because the homework is optional, doesn't give you an excuse to not do it. Would take again!
Taking MTH095 online was made a breeze with this instructor. He was extremely helpful, quick to respond on the forums, and very understanding. In his MTH095 class, you are able to retake the online homework/exam reviews as much as possible to achieve a satisfactory grade. The final was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be! Would take!
I love Keith. He is THE BEST math teacher I have, and ever will have. I look forward to taking calculus with him in the future!! He takes the time to explain every thing multiple times to ensure every person in the class gets it, and teaches what is on the tests. Textbook is not needed unless you want to do homework for extra credit.
GREAT TEACHER! Quizzes are, if i remember right, all take home and you can work with other students from the class. He WILL explain if u are unsure. He is a kind teacher (not intimidating) AND he allows u a page of notes for all of ur tests. He also replaces ur lowest grade with ur highest... or something along those lines - txt bk 4 hw only
Keith is an outstanding instructor. He went the distance to help me gain a better understanding of each math topic, as we covered them. He really likes discussing all levels of math. If you feel stupid he doesn't see it like that. He really respects students and likes math. This is a really hard class, but Keith is the guy to take it with.
Listens to your questions carefully and identifies what you are having trouble with. Carefully and answers completely waiting for you to understand.
Lots of typos on the handout sheets he gives you, but otherwise a great teacher.
Keith is an OG teacher from the streets of Compton. Integration with respect to y? Done. Sequences and series? Done. Eigenvalues? DONE. This man could teach a monkey quantum mechanics in a single class period and still have time to go home and watch an episode of Jerry Springer.
Best math professor at Chemeketa. I passed an upper course (300 ) level class with a 98% thanks to the things I learned in his class. If I had to take another class with him, I would. Makes the material super clear.
He is a great instructor. He is very helpful and wants you to succeed. The class I took is a difficult class, and he made it easy to understand. I will be taking more classes from him in the future. Attendance isn't mandatory but he is so helpful I don't see why you would not go. When I would miss a class I would be lost trying to teach myself.
One of the best math professors i have taken so far, is you are someone who prefers a slower pace class then you will love him. He takes time to explain everything well and makes sure you understand it before moving on. He grades pretty leniently and gives a lot of chances to make up points. Would highly recommend for all learning styles!
He is an amazinggg professor but he grades hard on your test so be very careful! He is very calm while he is teaching. Really a great teacher
All homework is turned in on the day of the final for extra credit. It is not required. Replaces lowest test score and matches it with the score you get on the final. The book is only used for the homework. In class he hands out worksheets and works on each problem with the whole class. Goes over any questions at the beginning of each class.
If you struggle with math then TAKE Keith! He explains all topics so well. He is super kind and is always willing to help you, and he doesn't make you feel stupid either. Notes on test and take home quizzes. Tests are pretty easy and short. His lectures are NOT monotone- don't listen to the other comments. I would take him again! Gonna miss him :(
Though Keith himself was a good teacher, this class was one I dreaded going to. The class felt like another term of high school and Keith brought in pre-printed notes to be filled in in class. The pace of the class was very slow and dull. Keith is a great teacher, but if you are looking to be pushed consider a class other than MTH111
This is one of the best professors I have encountered in college. Keith is very patient and takes time to make sure you understand the topic. His grading approach is very no non-sense, discerning whether you understand the general idea even if the answer is not all the way correct. I would not consider him lenient, but fair.
You will appreciate his teaching style when you get into the harder math classes here at chemeketa. He takes his time and makes sure he explains things well. Only cons are that his classes are graded by a few things, and comprehensive final.
His lectures are fine. I feel I just take notes and do nothing. I can take home quizzes. He will give you review sheet before in class test. If you do your homework, then it will be extra credits. For my term, textbook and homework were online which was annoying.
Very funny guy and very caring towards students. He lets you use a page of notes/a calculator for tests (which was helpful for a horrible test taker like me), all the homework was online and only took 30 minutes or so to complete, and his lectures are very easy to follow along to! You should definitely take his class!
I'm good at math so I found this class easy. He gave out note worksheets that all filled in during class that gave you information and examples. You could ask as many questions as you needed in class. Grades were based on take home quizzes and exams, homework was listed if you needed it. I feel like I really learned a lot with being taught that way
mth 111, if you struggle with math he is AWESOME. He teaches in away thats SO great to understand, I used the text for extra credit. He grades fast, and give partial credit if you at least try. There are weekly quizes, online homework, after every new section, three exams and a final. I failed mth 095, then got a A w/ Darren Hunter, then a b
This was one of the tougher classes Ive taken at Chemeketa but Mr. Schloeman is a great instructor. Takes his time explaining the material and always went over anything we had questions about. Material was very confusing for me and he probably explained it as good as possible. Take notes and ask questions! Only negative is he grades by few things.
He has a great note taking system and lets you use notes on tests. He explains things really well and doesn't hesitate to explain things again if they are unclear. His tests are right from the notes. You really can't miss class if you want to understand the material to do well on the tests.
Mr. Schloemann is very clear in his lectures and very willing to help any struggling student. I'm pretty good at math, but this class was fairly difficult for me. Be prepared to learn and dive deeper outside of class. Overall, he's a great instructor!
Just took his online Math 111 class. He is very involved and gets back to you right away if you need anything. All expectation are made very clear. He is extremely organized and gives constant updates.
awesome teacher. One of the most flexible teachers there are. At one point he asked us as a class whether we preferred an assignment was due monday or wednesday. also there are extra credit assignments to help your grade.
He's one of the best professors that Chemeketa has. Every lecture is important so be sure to go to class if you want to do well. He is accessible and is willing to help students if they happen to struggle with the material. Overall, Schloeman's class is definitely a solid choice when it comes to mathematics.
Keith is absolutely brilliant. I truthfully learned so much from him and his class that it literally blows my mind. His lectures are very interactive, and his tone is very persuasive. He is very fair with his grading on tests, and is clear with his expectations. Taking summer classes is not desirable, but he made it an enjoyable term.
Math isn't my favorite subject but I loved taking this class. He gave good, consistent feedback on quizzes and discussion boards. I especially loved getting my midterm back with corrections because it helped me study for the final. Very positive and encouraging. One of the best professors I've had so far!
He uses a lot of example problems to teach concepts, allows notes on quizzes and exams, and offers a lot of partial credit for work shown.
Keith is great! He's easy to learn from, the homework is challenging but not impossible and he's always willing to review confusing homework problems. Would recommend 100%!
This class was tough. Personally, I found Keiths tests difficult & some of the quizzes took quite a bit of work. He seems like a nice, laid-back professor. He responds to emails quickly, grades quickly, & is always willing to help outside of class. Take-home Quizzes(140pts), Skills Quizzes(30&70pts), Exam1(100pts), Exam2(100pts), Final(160pts).
I always thought I was bad at math, but after participating in Mr. Schloeman's Math 95 class I realized that I just hadn't had the right teacher. I'll miss learning from him. If you have an opportunity to take one of his classes, do it.
Keith is one of the best math professors at Chemeketa, and I should have taken his class two terms ago instead of now. He is very cooperative when it comes to deadlines and is willing to grant extensions as long as you learn the material, which makes this class truly flexible even with busy schedules. Do yourself a favor and take his class!!
Keith was hands down the best math teacher I have ever had. I can count on one hand the amount of 100% tests I have had and his was one of them. The work was hard and took a lot of time, but I benefitted a lot from it. He was so helpful and responded usually on the same day depending on what time I emailed him.
Took Math 111 online. He is one of the best professors that I have ever had. He was nice and responded quickly. Never did he make me feel stupid with any of my questions.
One of the most incredible professors I've ever had. He's so accessible, VERY organized, and has very clear expectations. I wish I had more math classes to take just so I could have him as a professor. If you have the chance, take his class(es).
He will respond to your questions jimmy John fast most helpful teacher Ive had so far I wish he could Thrace the rest of the teachers how to respond back to questions
I took an online class with Keith, and he made sure to reply to all of our questions timely and thoroughly. He also showed that he actually cared about student success, sharing general study habit tips and giving lots of opportunities for discussion. One of my favorite profs of all time.
Literally the single best professor I've ever had. He is the nicest person ever and gives you great feedback. He is there for his students and actually cares!!! I respect him a lot and would 100% take his class again given the opportunity. You a homie professor Scholeman
Keith was my MTH105 professor for spring term at Chemeketa Community College. Despite switching to remote classes due to COVID-19, he ensured that every student was informed and even checked in personally by email to reassure his students. His lectures were to the point and he encouraged questions so that the whole class was on the same page.
Great professor, great information. Wish homie was teaching my next class up...
I love my MTH 95 class with Mr. Schloeman. He is kind, helpful, and very specific with everything he is looking for. I personally loved remote learning with him. I am trying to take his MTH 111 class this fall, there is no other math teacher I will take. Be prepared to actually learn math and you will pass with flying colors.
I am horrible at math yet this professor made my life so much easier. This class was easy to follow and though there was quite a bit of homework, it was always something you could work hard enough to get an A for! loved this class even though I hate math.
I was horrified when I found out I would have to take Math111 online. Professor Schloeman made this class to where it was easy to follow along and he provided a lot of help. Best of all he accepts late assignments and only take 1% off with each day that passes. I like that he recorded his zoom videos and provided extra videos about the lessons.
I found this class to be a little work-heavy but the professor made it better. He always reached out and made sure I knew he could help me anytime. I simply did the work and got an A. He also allows open notes even on the final which was awesome. I loved him so much I decided to take his MTH111 class this term.
Professor Schloeman is amazing. He works with you to be the best student you can be. He grades pretty easily. If you do the work you will get credit. He genuinely wants you to succeed. When the ice storm hit he made sure to be flexible and not stress us out. He offers a lot of resources for you to use. He's kind and dedicated. TAKE THIS CLASS!!
Yes theres a lot of homework but its all doable if you show up to class. His lectures are perfect and on-point to the material. He could teach math to absolutely anyone and they are almost guaranteed to become experts. Yes, hes that good. Just show up to class and do the homework its whatll help out your grade the most!
Keith is a great prof. I had him both MTH095 and MTH111. He is always willing to set time aside to help out his students. He genuinely wants his students to learn and come to him if they're stuck, and is generous in grading. He is very encouraging and uplifting, even if you get a bad grade he encourages you. I would highly recommend Keith!
I took MTH251 with Professor Schloeman and he was really great. He reached out multiple times throughout the term to check-in and made sure everyone was keeping up with the material. He seems to genuinely care about the success of students and I encourage anyone who wants to take this class to take it with him!
Keith. What a guy. One of the best, if not the best teacher, at Chemeketa. Hes very flexible with assignments and their due dates, and grades very fairly. I really appreciated his care for students and their personal lives, especially during the ice storm that hit and knocked out a lot of peoples power and internet. Would recommend to everyone.
He is literally the nicest professor I have ever had, even though I only knew him through an online format. Constantly asking us if there is anything he could do to help. The homework assignments (online) you can retake every question until you get it right, and the tests are all open book. He is also flexible with late turn ins. Highly recommend!
Awesome professor! I seriously struggle with math and Prof Schloeman makes me feel like I can actually do it, he is so nice and very prompt with responses to questions! My only struggle was with the final, the questions seemed completely different than previous test/questions or even homework so I didn't even know where to begin to answer them.
This class is work intensive, but Keith makes it all easy and is the most organized teacher I have ever met. His class is structured very well and leaves no room for confusion. I wish he was teaching MTH111 next term to fit my schedule, I would take him again in a second! Show up, get your work done and you will pass! Great class!
Great teacher, very flexible and is willing to help you succeed in class as long as you are willing to do the work!!
Keith's feedback on your questions is phenomenal. I had so many questions in my calculus class that I couldn't find the answers for online, and he cleared them up amazingly well. I highly recommend this teacher. He is very forgiving of late assignments and not a harsh grader.
I absolutely loved Professor Schloeman's class. He is an excellent professor. My favorite things about his teaching style were a) he always defined new terms he introduced, b) he was very patient and answered questions well, c) he really cared about whether the students understood the material. I would highly recommend his class.
One of the best professors I have taken by far. His class was very interesting and he explained concepts in a way that made the material interesting to learn. He was kind and always made sure everyone was understanding the material they were being taught in class. If you have the opportunity to take any course with this professor, I recommend it.
Keith gives you all the tools and help necessary to succeed. Lectures are easy to understand and when you don't understand he will reexplain in another way to ensure you do understand. He is very patient and understanding and always willing to offer his help in and outside of class. I would highly recommend, especially if you struggle with math.
Fantastic teacher! Technically there was a textbook, but I never used it, as he explained everything in class. If you missed one, he would post the video and notes on the class page. Very fair and reasonable, we got a bit behind so he didn't include our last module on the final, but we still covered it and he made sure we understood everything.
Professor Schloeman is kind, great at explaining concepts, and lets you have 1 page of notes for your exams. He records all his zoom classes so you can refer back to the class as a refresher before an exam. AMAZING Teacher! If you have a chance to take a class with him, do it!
Keith is an amazing instructor! His lectures are helpful and clear. Homework is done online. If you get a bad grade on midterm, he adjust for the final. Whichever grade is better he will keep. He also allows one full page of notes for exams. He's very responsive and so helpful. Highly recommend!
I unfortunately failed the class due to my own poor studying skills but Keith was still very supportive of me and we talked about alternatives. Homework and the tests I did very well on it was the midterm/final you really have to study for since you have to take that in person. I think if I took Keith in person I would have passed the class.
He helped cure my math phobia. He clearly cares deeply about the material and the success of his students. The YouTube videos linked in the homework and the soft homework deadlines were so nice. I wish he could teach me all my classes at Chemeketa. 10/10!
Keith is like a tranquil brook. I have embarrassing math anxiety, but his cool-as-a-cucumber vibe and constant encouragement made it melt away. He is organized, responds quickly to communication, and is willing to do what it takes to help you succeed if you put in your part. Take him whenever possible! Great communicator and so kind.
I took Keith for both differential and integral calculus, and after taking these classes I can say definitely that he was a fantastic instructor. He does a great job explaining the material, is flexible with assignments, and overall a chill/caring guy. If you have the chance to take one of his classes, DO IT!. You won't regret it.
Provides clear guidelines of what the class will be and the assignments due each week. Only a few tests - mid-term and final - and tests are not half the grade, as they are for other math classes. Class was not a cake walk and requires a lot of studying, but the resources are there, and his lectures give you a really good sense of the tasks.
Keith, what a great guy, and great teacher I used to hated math due to my math test anxiety. After taking his class I like math again. His class does require studying a bit but with his clear instructions homework and videos to go along with the homework it was easy to learn in class and from homework. take his class you wont regret it take it!!!!!
Prof. Schloeman is a fantastic teacher, by far the best math teacher I have had in my life. It is super clear he cares about his students success, and he always delivers difficult information in a way that is easy to understand and digest. I would strongly recommend taking his courses for math as it will really change the way you feel about math.
Keith created his own note templates and handed them out each day for the class to follow along with. He also set up a zoom meeting concurrently, so you could still tune into his class virtually if you couldn't make it in-person. He was very straightforward in his lecture style, and I was able to follow along easily. Incredible instructor, 10/10.
I'm only on Week #3, but this teacher has been the best Math professor I've ever had. He gives clear feedback and his videos for lecture are SO CLEAR to follow. I love this class so far.
His class made me like Math again. Super caring toward students. My favorite math teacher.
Took math with him and I just want to say I recommend and teaches very well throughout all his zoom classes he reassured If we were all on the same page and if we understood he will go out his way to be able to make office hours work for you
He made math fun. First time ever doing well in a math class. Super good at explaining complex problems.
Mini projects don't make sense and are graded harshly. Notes are done in a way that is okay to understand except for the statistics unit. The statistics unit is extremely challenging and poorly explained. Professor is solid at responding to questions, but the video lectures can feel messy.
I took this as an online course and the instructor uploads weekly lecture videos that are easy to follow and help a lot with the homework and exams. His midterm and final reviews were also incredibly thorough. This was the first time I ever aced a math midterm and final! He's also caring/understanding and reaches out if you're falling behind.
Best math teacher. Only 3 test all term and you get to have a page of notes. Take his class if you are worried about math
Absolutely the best math instructor, his teaching style is different from just fast lecture and makes sure you understand, would take all my math classes with him if I could. He is also super understanding with late work as long as you communicate.
One of the best math professors I've had. Clear lectures, caring approach, and helpful study resources like unstuck AI made this class a breeze. Definitely take this if you're worried about math!
Awesome professor and great guy overall. He's super thorough in every lecture to make sure you understand the material and gives great feedback. His teaching style is super chill and very straightforward which I appreciate, but if you have any questions, he will go over it with you after lecture if you ask. Very knowledgeable, I highly recommend!
Keith is by far the best math instructor I have had. And I say that with the full weight of all of the amazing math instructors I have had here at Chemeketa. For math and science, Chemeketa is one of the best colleges around. Keith is exemplary of that excellence. He's a fair grader and really cares about his students' success.
Best teacher I have had at this school. He wants his students to succeed and he teaches very well. He is always available to help and responds quickly. You get to learn from your mistakes in this class. He is a fast grader. There is only two in person exams throughout this course. He is so kind and doesn't make you feel dumb.
