This guy is fantastic!!!!!
He's the worst physics professor I've ever met.
This is the worst teacher that I have ever had!
I can hardly learn anything from this professor. His lectures are bad in terms of clarity, and easily loses people's attention. Worst of all, his exams are multiple choice (NOT A GOOD THING!) since you get NO POINTS for the work and getting it wrong!
OMG avoid this man at all costs. He tries to explain anything u want but it's like talking to a computer. He's so confusing and takes roll all year long. The stuff he talks about in class has nothing to do with the tests or homework.
Stay away from this professor. He is not clear on his lectures and does irrevalent formula conversions on the board. Multiple choice tests in a physics class = bad.
He is probably one of the worst professors in the Physics Dept. Try to avoid him. He writes so much garbage on the board, but makes no sense. Homework is way too hard, and so are the tests and quizzes. However, he curved in my class.
I drew pictures each day in his class. Not cool. This class is a pretty good nap period because he basically draws a bunch of stuff on the board and he blocks what he writes down with his enormous body. Funny guy.
**Avoid Teacher at ALL Costs** Teaches material not relevant to tests, blocks everything he writes then erases, most unhelpful in office hour. "I noticed today not a single one of u got this question right on the exam. If u had been taking good notes..."
Through the perspective of a physics major, myself, this professor is not very good at all. I understand a majority of the derivations and equation writing he does but it is totally irrevelent in a lower-division physics class. Take Dr. Childers instead, he is much, much better.
Good God, this guy is awful! Everyone here has hit it right on the head. In addition to all of the stuff everyone has said, he also likes to make students feel dumb if they ask questions (basically he'll answer your question, but in the process will be irritated with you for not knowing).
Did not understand anything he ever went over in class. Test and quizzes were multiple choice. I always guessed and got a C in the class. He has a horrible temper and blew up in class a couple of times.
He is the only Physics 300 instructor, so here's my advice. He is a VERY BAD lecturer, but here's the benefit of this class. Keep up with the homework and show up to class and you'll pass. Also, write down EVERYTHING he writes on the board because it'll show up on the test. Good luck.
This is my last semester and he was by far the worst professor I have ever taken. Not helpful, he expects you to already know everything.
professor very clear in explaining concepts. HWK and tess were difficult. Very fair in grading tests.
dude this guy is the worst teacher i've ever had in my life. i don't get a thing he says, and the hw problems are frickin impossible. it took him an hour to do 3 problems in class. worst teacher in the world.
i took this class for 2 weeks and CHANGED MY MAJOR because this guy was so bad. seriously.
This guy is the worst instructor ever. You ask him what "1+1" is, he'll tell you a paragraph saying how much he likes hot dogs. It was ridiculous. He talks about how he likes bananas and how there will be many bananas today. I have no idea what he's talking about.
easy grade, do your HW, easy exam.
He goes way to fast and expects you to know what hes talking about. The homework is impossible and its most of your grade. Go to his office hours and he'll do the homework for you and you get participation points, which is also big in your grade. Hes the only teacher that does multiple choice tests. You can guess and pass.
He has absolutely no teaching skills.. I'm sorry, but this professor just refuses to try to work with the students; he's in his own little world where confusing students is the most effective way to educate them. He never actually explains what we're supposed to be learning!! He just digresses constantly.. VERY CONFUSING! NOT RECOMMENDED!!!

If you want to learn. Do not take him. If you want a good grade get ready to teach yourself and spend 10-15 hours a week. He is rude to his students. Grading, well he curve a lot so if everyone does bad in the class, you will pass with a C. Taking him will make you hate physics!
He is a terrible teacher all around. I have no idea what gibberish is telling himself while he deriving equations. He does not use examples when he lectures which is necessary in physics. The curve helps a lot so show up to class and try to do better than 50 % on ever test to get an A or B
Take a dice to the tests with the letters A,B,C,D on it and it will hopefully role the right answers. You will not learn anything in this class, all you will do is watch Wanser write letters an numbers on the board and talk to himself. Do all your homework and try your hardest to do it right. This will guarantee you a B. The tests are pure luck.
Not a good professor. He doesn't bring the concepts down to the students level. Tests are based work sheets. Homework is way too difficult without good instruction. And hes Rude to students, not all the time, but still really rude!
Amazing instructor. Yes he is demanding, but with him it´s either you rise to the occasion or you wimp out. I took him more than once, and I learned to love physics from him. Excellent at weaving out the cry babies. If you want to learn to be a good student, take him and try hard. He always rewards your efforts.
I really wished this professor would teach problems straight out of the homework rather than derivations, Study guides help only a little bit, but tests are sometimes playing the guessing game as well... luckily if you do the HW and study you'll do better than the class avg, so with the curve you'll do alright...
Not the best professor, not the worst. Those who complain about him "simply deriving equations" on the board, well that is his job. There's not enough time to walk you through examples, blame the furlough days. Dr. Wanser requires some studying from the textbook, but again, what did you expect? Don't trust the reports of those who didn't try.
Some ppl are good at physic, many arenot. There was 1 lecture i understood in wansers clas out of the whole semester. Hes unbelievably rude. The hw is impossible. If you dont kno your stuff then the test will be a guesin game. For those few who gave this guy a good rating yah we know ur good but doesnt mean were babies. We just want to be taughtwell
Awful teacher who doesnt know how to teach. Everything in the comment before me is on point and I regret taking his class.
Dr. Wanser is a very smart guy who knows his stuff, but the way he teaches in Class is basically just derivations of the formulas. The Hw is online is actually worth more than the tests!! However his way of curving is crazy because you basically need to aim for half to pass. If you want to learn, don't take him, but if u want to pass sure y not
Do not take this class with wanser or you will not enjoy it. Not to mention the fact that you probably won't learn the material unless you read the textbook while he lectures. He is extremely rude and unapproachable, take another professor!
If you really want to learn physics, this the professor to take. If you just want to fill a science requirement find someone else. Any monkey can work problems from the text, but Wanser assumes you want to know WHY those equations exist. He teaches you more than just the text problems-- he teaches you PHYSICS.
I took him for Physics 225 this past semester, and he was a terrible teacher. Passing his class with a C is easy. But for those of you who actually want to learn the material or are shooting for an A or B, be ready for a long semester of teaching yourself.
Take this class if you want to pass, don't if you actually want to learn. He's not rude, just completely condescending unless your another professor. Came late to class all but 2 days. He's tenured, btw, and as I would love to use that as his excuse, Ive come across some pretty good tenured professors. I'm in my 4th year engineering, moderate gpa.
Currently taking Dr. Wanser and I must warn everyone to STAY AWAY from this professor. Understood only 2 of his lectures, the syllabus and the 1st lesson. When you ask for help, prepare to be shot down like a trespasser on private property. Rude, incompetent, unhelpful. Currently have an A+ because of teaching myself. Found myself walking out alot
EASY. His tests are multiple choice and he gives extra credit. I really like his lecturing style, he makes the concepts clear to me. E&M is a hard subject, but you've got a good shot at passing with Wanser.
Tough subject and hard to make interesting for those who are taking it as a requirement. Having said that he is a good professor, and is very knowledgeable of the subject. He's a bit intimidating because he's a no BS type of person, but if you talk to him he will help you. I wish lectures were more problem oriented than derivations of equations.
Absolute worst professor ever. Besides the fact the he is rude and inconsiderate, he honestly doesn't care about his students or the class. I received an A, not because I earned it or because I know the material, but because of the enormous curve he uses to make up for his inability to teach. Do the HW and guess on the tests and you will pass.
I am a third year Engineering student, and this is the worst professor I have ever had for any subject. The class is easy because of the ridiculous curve, not because he teaches well. Words (according to my ratings) to describe him: Useless, Incomprehensible, awful, etc. I received an A because I studied on my home; he did not help my understanding
This professor teaches material in the class that isn't even on the exams. The exams are multiple choice also which is terrible because you get no points for the steps you do inorder to get to the correct answer. It's an easy class to cheat in though, that's the only way I passed the class.
Not an easy subject, but if you spend the time you can get a decent grade. Very willing to give a lot of help at office hours, worth your time to go. Physics is not for whiners, so change your major if you don't want to actually work.
Worst teacher I've ever had. I'm relatively smart,(4.0 student, was valedictorian of my high school) but I had no clue what he was talking about. I had to either drop, or fail. Physics must be taught using real life examples, because physics primarily deals with real world problems. Prof. Wanser ONLY derives formulas, and even that he does poorly.
I got a good grade but I learned absolutely nothing at all. Avoid at all cost. He is hands down the most inconsiderate professor I've ever taken. He put ls absolutely no effort into his students or teaching. I.e. his exams are 10 pt scantrons so he doesn't have to actually grade anything. Avoid for your own sake
another genius at CSUF
He is a lazy, condescending, and inconsiderate teacher. I had to wonder why he became a teacher in the first place, as he clearly does not like being asked questions, interacting with students, or doing anything that requires more than a minimum amount of effort. You will be frustrated and in fear of being eaten if you take him.
Professors like this only help discourage students away from physics.
Its evident hes smart. He just seems on robot mode or something. He spends class deriving formulas, when doing example problems and applications would be much more helpful.take him and youll have to read the book & do the homework problems to learn the material yourself.I believe he likes teaching, but hes super direct. so he comes off condescending.
Very intelligent with the possibility of being a great Professor, but he's very very stubborn and condescending. Raise your hand in class and he'll let you know how stupid you are for asking that question. I've been given the hand for no good reason. He won't let you get two words in before he assumes what your stupid question is going to be.
I really hate to say it as a serious physics student who takes pride in my relationships with my professor, but Wanser is a joke. The only way to be successful in his class is to study on your own. His lectures are completely useless as he talks at an insane speed and continuously blocks the board. Smart but a horrendous teacher. Avoid him.
Avoid at all cost. All he does is derive formulas which is pointless for the test. I seriously did not learn one thing in this class. Also you have no idea what your grade until grades come out so cross your fingers. He also takes attendance everyday.
All he did for the class was derive equations and point at his powerpoints. Also, attendance is part of your grade, and he requires you buy an iclicker so he can do the attendance.
One of the worst professors I have ever come across. Tests and quizzes are hard just because he doesn't actually teach anything in the class. He constantly rambles on and on about nothing and only derives equations but doesn't explain anything. AVIOD!
Before taking Wanser, I initially went through the ratings for this guy and thought, "oh he can't be that bad!". Be prepared to learn nothing! His body covers up the board when he writes our "notes", so it's hard to learn, and he refuses to move over a little when students ask him to. He gives daily quizzes over things he never taught you. Avoid.
He is a horrible teacher. He doesn't care about the students. His lectures, homework, quizzes, and exams have nothing in common. I had to supplement his horrible class with lectures online. Homework and quizzes are done online. His exams are multiple choice. There was two midterms (10 questions) and a final (20 question). I suggest avoid him.
Horrible. boring. goes way too fast. doesn't care. VERY messy. he doesn't actually teach. he pretty much writes and writes on the board all lecture. hw and quizzes online not easy. tests would be easy if he actually taught us something.
Writes all day on board but you cant see past his body. Only writes is derivations, not the uses. Learned more in lab. Quizzes and hw are hard. 2 midterms 8 questions each. Sounds easy but unless you already know physics, you aren't learning anything from him to help on tests. Class averages 38. Curves total grade cause everyone is 40%. DONTTAKE.
Dr. Wanser is not a good professor. Honestly, I did not learn anything in his class.
He's not a great professor. During the lectures, all he does it write derivatives and doesn't explain. He's a very unorganized writer so pay attention while he writes on the board. He is very RUDE towards his students! Homework& quizzes are weekly and there are 2 midterms and a final(which are hard because you don't learn anything in his lectures)
All he does during lectures is just deriving equations on the board. Even though you copy down everything he writes, it won't help you that much for the exams. Gives two midterms and a final, which are all MC. Sounds easy but it's tough. It helps you better if you just read the textbook than listen to the lecture. AVOID!
His exams are DIFFICULT! If you are willing to learn on your own then take him b/c he doesn't really teach but writes formulas on the board. The hw can be hard and is due every week as wells the quizzes. You have to get 4/16 on the final in order to pass the class or else he WILL NOT pass you, even if you did well on the 2 midterms, hw & quizzes.
bruh this dude sucks. you wanna guess on exams? take this guy
About $50 dollars to take attendance(makes you buy/rent clickers). His lectures can be quite boring as he just derives equations on the board the entire time(won't learn much from that). But it's really easy to pass with a C. You just need at least a 25% on the final and a barely decent grade on the first two midterms at the bare minimum.
Leacture sucks. But you have to go for points. Easy pass though if you dont care about learning, the curve is incredible.
Disorganized, impersonal
Had him for physics 225 Lab, and anyone can pass with a C or better. He can be rude to students, but get in his good side by asking questions and having conversation with him. Heard his lecture isnt so good, and that you dont learn much physics. Recommend another teacher for lecture, but lab is okay.
If you are unlucky enough to have him your better off not asking questions about the labs because he will just say "Well, what does it say in the lab". I suggest that you take the class with a friend or someone that you know will do their fair share on the labs. The final is 100 times harder than the physics final, so don't even bother studying.
He is a Young Earth Creationist, and you can find his "Answers in Genesis" manifesto by doing a simple google search. I can't respect a science teach that outright ignores science consensus. Class lectures were hard to follow since he would block the white board when deriving equations. If you miss an online quiz it is impossible to get an A.
He is really knowledgeable/loves physics, but his way of teaching just is not very clear. His lectures would be much better if he gave actual examples with real numbers instead of deriving equations. His exams are super hard and you definitely need to read the book. You need the homework/weekly online quizzes to pass. But the curve is huge (60%)
He's definitely as bad as everyone says. I passed the class, but still struggle with basic physics in my dynamics class because I didn't learn anything from Wanser. Seriously, don't take him unless you're already a physics genius.
If you get this professor for your lab, good luck, he does not explain the labs and barely offers help. The final is terrible, 30+ conceptual questions and you get 0 formulas, even though the other labs get formula sheets, the final was pretty much a guessing game.
literally the worst professor ive ever had. He just derives equations in lecture and expects you to know how to use them. The hw is impossible without youtube or chegg and he makes you feel like an idiot if you ask a question
PLEASE CONSIDER SOMEONE ELSE. Will make you feel dumb for asking a question. Lectures are useless, he just derives formulas, rarely looks at example problems. He does not hand-back tests so you cannot see why you got the grade you did. You will practically be learning from anything BUT him. I neglected the reviews and had a bad experience.
It's possible to do decently in his class, as long as you learn the material from somewhere else. I probably could have done better if I didn't show up to class to listen to him condescend students who ask for clarification, and opted to learn the material from an alternative source. Avoid if you can, but passable with substantial effort.
If you see Keith Wanser as your lab professor, do yourself a favor and drop the class; its not worth it bro. He had only 1 out of the 9 labs graded 9 weeks into the semester (not including a robo-graded one). When he does grade labs, Wanser is a very harsh grader, and will seemingly find any excuse to dock you off points even if you are right.
Physics is my favorite subject but taking Wanser is a mistake because he doesn't make it fun like it is suppose to. There is one homework, one quiz, and one mini exam every week. They are all accessible through Wileyplus. If you have a question during lecture, I recommend you don't ask him at all. You can pass the class but will you learn anything?
Wanser knows the subject well, but he can't teach effectively. In the lectures, he goes over slides that he uses from WileyPLUS. Also, he hardly ever gives example problems. One hw set, one quiz, one mini exam each week. Attend every class because he does keep track. Don't ask questions, he'll shut you down. Avoid him unless you know physics well.
Took this professor during the pandemic, the coursework consisted of one homework assignment, One quiz, and one mini exam for each week. The quizzes are taken on days that there is no class. He uses a platform called WileyPlus which is horrible! he uses the slides from wileyplus and he complains about them. He shuts down questions from students.
Not very nice
A student had a question and professor seemed like he didnt have too much time left. He straight up just said, "No there is no questions, Goodbye" and ended zoom. Could have just said please email me or something like that but was incredibly rude the entire time, during class he goes over the material at lightning speed and doesnt even saywhatit is
Possibly one of the worst professors I have had. He doesn't care for questions or if you're even understanding the material. He zooms through "lectures" that are basically slides with information from the textbook.
He doesn't take questions from any students and go so fast that no one in the class can handle the speed at which the professor took off. He only cares about the content, but not the students that are asking questions while struggling. He is the only professor so far at which I feel should be wholeheartedly reconsidered hired and should be fired.
Does not explain anything in detail. Lecture's are more like slight skims of chapters. If you want to understand anything, you best read the entirety of the textbook because he does not teach much.
so this professor will be your final option, it's like experiencing a plane crash and having your blanket sheet as your last resort for a parasuit. not only this class was around 100 people and u have to suffer like this from mon, wed, and friday. doesn't really know how to teach, and he is a boomer.
do not take this prof
omg definitely avoid this prof. He doesn't teach anything and does not care about ask question only take if he is your final option!!!!!
He sucks major sack ass a professor. Hes disrespectful and doesnt help teach. Side note he smells like he dipped his whole body in pickle juice mixed with Mayo. Do not recommend.
the worst prof Ive ever taken
Worst professor and person to ever exist. Refuses to answer simple questions during lecture and doesnt care about his students. Also yells alot for no reason at all. He actually needs to be reported to administration IMMEDIATELY!!!
doesnt like when students ask questions and engage themselves in learnings. comes off as lazy and not caring about the success of his students. office hours should not be an excuse to deny a student help in understanding content.
He aint it. Take someone else
Terrible attitude towards POC and extremely curt.
Not even a week into classes and this professor has made learning difficult, besides the fact that he speeds through the material, he also does not care if you are lost or need extra help. He does not answer questions or give an opportunity to explain what he has written down. End of the day his classes are just numbers and functions on a board.
He doesn't care about his students, only about that paycheck. You can clearly tell. Rude instead of enthusiastic, dismissive instead of inviting.
worst professor ive had in my life
refuses to answers questions, blatantly rude to students
super disrespectful and does not care to see his students succeed
Aint nothing inspirational about this mf. Rude and doesnt care about our education.
This dude sucks
this guy is the worst
One of the worst experiences I've had
he is one of the rudest people that I've met so far.
Horrible at explaining and is extremely rude to anyone who asks questions. Doesnt really care if you understand or if you get through the lesson. Would not take again, horrible.
professor didnt care about students, and is very disrespectful
he's the worst and doesn't care about the students. he's disrespectful and didn't let me or my friend asks questions when we had confusion on the math. there was no need to be rude like that.
not only the worst professor ever, but the most egotistic, downright sh*tty human being I have ever encountered. Does not deserve his job, period.
I asked him to wait a minute, alas not a minute was given.
has absolutely no compassion for the students he teaches. approach him kindly to explain a topic and he moves on to his next task. this professor makes a foolery out of CSUF, and if the rest of the professors are like this, ill be withdrawing. id rather listen to dahmer try to persuade a jury of his innocence than sit through his lecture again.
Rather get covid so I don't have to go to class. He doesn't go over homework or how to solve the homework problems. No concepts or example problems are taught, he only teaches how to derive problems which has no use in the homework or exams.
He needs to explain the problem. He spends too much time rambling. When questions are asked, he just skips them. Skims through slides that aren't available to students. Homework was nothing covered and I had to Google to find what I needed. Wileyplus is used. He straight up mocked a student for asking a question. This makes it a very tough class.
This professor must be avoided at all costs. Other reviews have said the same, but he really does berate you for asking questions. In my class a student asked can we go over a problem on the homework? And he acted stupefied that the poor student would even suggest such a prospect. He uses WileyPlus, which should say enough about the homework, too
Dont take this man!!!
The professor out right denied to assist a student, despite the student asking for help and engaging in class
Do not take this professor. He isnt passionate about his job, in fact I doubt he even cares for it much at all. He refuses to help students as well.
Overall just a horrible lecturer and doesnt let us ask questions. Youll be teaching yourself. Take another professor
Currently taking for credit, but most of what I learned was from Youtube or the textbook. His lectures don't help with anything, he mostly rambles and takes one class period going over one problem. His notes aren't organized at all. The bright side is that he doesn't have midterms, only mini-exams (one question), quizzes (one question),and homework
READ THIS REVIEW!Not enough room to write, 1 cant teach 2 doesn't post assignments like quizzes until the night they are due 3 doesn't answer emails for 1+ weeks. 4 doesn't answer questions just says no time for questions infront of the whole class 5 AND I QUOTE "im going to have office hours today as well...i don't really don't want to"-09/24/2021
Actaullly hate this man, this man is literally one of the worst teacher in CSUB, if you have him drop it. anyone that think this boomer is a better than a 1 rating is either cheating in his class, or you're insane
the problem with this man is he DON"T LISTEN TO STUDENTS, so many times that I think this man is just here for paycheck. People tried to talk to him, but he just does not listen to his students. Never have I had such a bad experience with a professor.
As a Physics professor, he is mean as hell. However I'm a smart dude and I got an A in his class. He's tough. He's mean. Take another professor if you can.
