Dr. Whitworth was an awesome techer but the class was hard to follow. I felt like maybe if i were a sociology major than maybe i would have been able to keep up. I thought that this was an introductory course.
He is a nice guy that is willing to help you out. The tests are really hard because of the multiple choice format, very confusing. You have to study a lot for the tests to make a good grade. Dont take this class for a gpa booster because it is a gpa buster.I had to struggle get a c, good luck!!!
This class takes up a LOT of outside time! He does a good job of including movie clips, games (including Monopoly), field trips, and examples to illustrate points. He provides extra-credit activities throughout the semester. I'm making a low A and have not had to study a great deal for the tests.
Very interesting class. It is a good class to take if you're not sure on how to study or manage your time, it has helped me a lot my freshmen year. It is a really interesting class but takes time out of class to complete assignments. He is a great professor.
Keith is amazing! He is so cool. Every class comes with a discussion on real life stuff. He is a little bit difficult but if you use common sense it's not too bad. He is my favorite teacher by far. He will come off as difficult and mean but don't drop it and you will like him in the end.
GREAT TEACHER!!! His tests can be tricky but just make sure you thoroughly read the book and take good notes and you'll be okay. His lectures are always very funny and his jokes are a great way to get the class started each day! Definately take him if you have the chance, its worth the work!!!
Its actually a pretty fun class, but he spends too much time trying to get the class to like him that he doesnt cover the material. Tests are fairly easy, takes roll, pop quizzes, lots of out of class stuff. Overall, way too much time commitment for an intro course. Freshmen seem to love him.
This class has more work required than I have ever had in my four years at TCU. Moderately interesting but this is not a class one would expect to make an A in. By the second week, about 8 people had already dropped out of 40 and I should have been one of them.
Decent class but tests are unnecessarily tricky. You can study hard and still not do as well as you hoped. He will keep you busy but makes the subject at hand about as interesting as possible.
Keith is a great teacher! He loves what he does and it shows. The tests are pretty tricky so make sure you read the book a couple times and you'll be okay. There is a lot of grades so it is not hard to do well in the class as long as you do all the work but don't take the class for a blow off.
Dr. Whitworth is a good professor, and the class was interesting and worthwhile. However, his tests are very hard--- you need to study. He does offer extra credit options throughout the semester to help you out, though. Overall, its a good class, but you have to work.
Great Professor, very nice. Tests are tricky and not representitive of what you really know. He makes the class interesting and has a variety of teaching methods that help you "understand the world we live in".
Alot of the test material is from the text book.
He is an excellent teacher and I loved his blend of using computers and technology in class. (A.L.A. The clickers for the on-screen quizzes, the powerpoint presentations and, eCollege with all it's threaded discussions.) 2 Thumbs up.
Yeah, his computer was a great professor. Seriously though. His tests are terrible. It's not that they're hard. Multiple choice and fill in the blanks are known for their ambiguities. You can read the chapter many times, and you'll still do bad on them. Don't take him for the intro class.
Great professor. It's true- he's tough- tests can be difficult, but it's a class well worth taking. One of the must-take classes at TCU during your stay.
Read the book! Dr. Whitworth is a great professor but loves to test on details. This course is pretty hard for an intro class, so don't be fooled. He expects a lot out of you which is both good and bad. Do the extra credit, read the book and study, and you will be fine.
This is one of the funnest classes I've taken in TCU. I highly recommend Whitworth. The tests aren't hard, just subjective. He can get a little moody but overall he is pretty easygoing. A lot of assignments but its all worth it. I made an A! I'll miss this class next semester.
Keith Whitworth is my alltime favorite professor at TCU. I love him! He is the nicest man ever and his family has parties for students at their house- his wife Susie is a great cook, his daughter Marianne is too funny, and his son Will is the cutest little boy! Take anything you can with Whitworth!
I would recommend this class to anyone, no matter what your major. Helps prepare for your future in so many crucial ways. I've gotten jobs because of him, and am on my way to an awesome internship too. Sooo nice and incredibly helpful.May seem like a lot of wk at 1st, but isn't that hard!!!
Professor Whitworth is one the best teachers that I've ever ever had. His accessibility and willingness to help really provide an atmosphere of learning that is unmatched. He's also quite funny, and really takes in interest in those in his class, as students and people. Great teacher and person.
I think that he could better let us know what is going to be ont he test because I will study really hard on the information that he covers in class and there will be a very little amount of this information on the test and a lot of other stuff that we did not talk about that much.
hes a cool guy, tests have a lot of material on them. you have to read. good class to take for a UCR.
Pretty cool guy-corny jokes that make 8am classes more bearable. You have to read to do well.
It's a lot of work, but enjoyable (if you aren't graduating)
kept class interesting with the jokes and outside references
Tests are kind of hard because they cover a lot of material. Read and everything will be okay.
He explained everything really well and used examples from t.v. or real life to get the point across. His tests are tricky, though. Know the theories!!!! You may understand the concepts, but the tests were deep (answer a, answer b, answer a and b, none of the above type answer choices on some)
The class was great! Very entertaining. He even told jokes. But don't forget to study for his tests....they are a lot harder then you think they will be.
He is a very good teacher and he is extremely understanding. I have had him 3 times now and i am already signed up to take him again. He has a background in many other things which makes him a very well rounded teacher.
Class was interesting and engaging. Encouraged thought but had a predetermined view on many things I think are inconclusive.
Fun teacher, hard tests, not bad class.
I really enjoyed this class. He made sociology interesting and applicable to life by using examples and activities. You need to study for the tests, but he tells you everything that you need to know for them. Reading the book does help.
He is a really great teacher. I enjoyed coming to class everyday... which is hard to do since it is an 8 am! I would suggest taking this class from THIS TEACHER!
Keith is such a good teacher. He's one of those that you'll really get to know in college and he really wants to see you do well. He's serious when it comes to work and tests but he's always willing to help out. Definitely take his soc. classes!
This teacher is very helpful and nice. His tests are not impossible I really liked how he set up the tests. There were m/c and short answers, his reveiws were very clear and made studying easy. The tests came straight from the reviews.
He is a really nice guy, but dont expect to ever know what your grade is...The class is interesting but you have to read and teach yourself. He favors athletes but warms us to others as the semester goes on.
The material is a little redundant but applicable outside of class. And no big research paper! I'm glad I took this class.
Keith is definitely one of those professor who goes the extra distance to ensure that his students are prepared to succeed after college and in life.
I really like Whitworth. Good guy. Makes an effort to know students on a personal basis. Tests are easy as long as you study and come to class regularly. If you need to take intro, take it from him,.
Super encouraging, willing to meet students where they are at, conducts class in a way that is both educational and yes even fun, largely through class participation
Keith is an awesome professor. Sometimes the class is boring but that's the way it is with all classes. He really tries to get participation and he has activies throughout the semester. Good class, Good Prof, but expect to be called on at least once.
keith is such a great teacher. he is willing to do anything for his students to make sure that they understand and are having a good time in his class. i thought this class was challanging if you wanted an A. you def. have to put the efoort in. Everyone should take a class from Keith!
Mr. Whitworth was a fun teacher. Even though I'm not interested in sociology, I had a great time anyways.
Dr.Whitworth is a great teacher who really likes to see effort and an end product where you got something out of it. He is very helpful as well. Definately a recommended class, I wish I would have taken this as a sophomore or a freshman. Will help me so much in the future in terms of a job, etc.
Dr. Whitworth is such a nice guy. His tests are difficult because they are all on supporting theories instead of right and wrong answers. The class is not that interesting, but he makes it worthwhile.
Dr Whitworth is a really nice guy, he made sure the class was interesting and involved. He also had an open house, and his kids are really sweet!! I definately reccomend taking this class! It's a fun and easy class!
Dr. whitworth is an amazing person as well as teacher, his exams are mildly hard they consist of multi choice, short answer get tough, and fill in the blank gets tough. the second to last text is always the hardest. the first is always the easiest!! read over your book and pay atten in class!
He is a good teacher as long as you take care of your work. He is awesome at helping people outside of class. Just an all-around nice guy.
He is a nice guy who loves his job and loves his students. Whether you are interested in sociology i recommend that you take his class.
good professor. just make sure you keep up with the notes given in class as well as the stats given during lecture. his tests are tricky but he doesn't think they are so watch out for that. i've had him twice so i would recommend him to any student who wants a good professor.
I really like Dr. Whitworth.. He is just the nicest guy. He gives you what you need to know. Just study the notes and read the book. You don't have to do as much outside of class any more, but you will learn so much in this class. Easy A if you study.
The best prof at TCU! He really cares about you and class. Puts ALOT of effort into everything. If you ever have a problem or just need to talk about life, hes the one. Class is not a blow off, but you will gain so much from it. Make sure to go to the Whitworth Drop In!
He's funny! I really enjoyed having class with him! He's a cool prof and an enjoyable one to have. I appreciate that he likes class interaction and is a laxe guy! It's nice he has all his students over to his house once a year too - not in a psycho way but in a fun way!
Is a great class to take, just make sure that you do alllll the readings and what not. You should do fine in the class if you do this and use your resources on e-college, and Mr. Whitworth, you'll be fine. Just be warned, he always ends class with a "joke", be prepared, but atleast he trys. :)
Professor Whitworth is a very good teacher. He explains the theories and pricipals very clearly. Overall I found it to be really interesting course. But this class is not an easy credit, be prepared to put forth effort. The tests are moderatly difficult, so study hard. If you are interested take it.
Professor Whitworth is a really great teacher. He truly cares about his students and loves what he does. I would take any class that he teaches!
A good professor, but spends way too much time on the fun and games rather than the concept at hand, so as a result the tests are over rote memorization of facts in class. His tests are hard, and he is deceptively nice, I made my first C in his class. If you hate essays you will love his class, he doesn't really grade them, just says "good job!"
very good class. i like dr. whitworth a lot. some people find the class hard, so you need to study. it's very possible to make an A if you study.
good class to get you ready for life. good class if you want to have a say if what assignments you do and don't do. recommend this class for anyone that feels lost in life

WHITWORTH is AMAZING. He can be a little too detailed, but he is one of the most helpful and caring profs I've ever had. Get to know him, BUT KEEP UP in class.
READ THE BOOK and do the stuff on ecollege. Easy A if effort is made. I would only take this class if I was interested in it; I found the stuff extremely boring and pointless, but I am a biochem major. Very nice man, likes you to come during office hours- willing to help.
Very good teacher. Really into his subject. You'll learn alot. The test are ok, I should have studied a bit more, but even then manageable. Go to his office hours, he likes that. Great teacher all the way around though. Just don't fall behind.
Class is interesting and the tests are straightforward. Easy 'A' if you make the effort. He gets off topic occasionally though.
Awesome guy! Tests can be hard, but he is very clear in class. He is available all the time and even gives out his cell number to be contacted. This is why we go to TCU :-) Just look out for the tests, make sure you are clear on what to study. A few details, but he gives blatent hints on what to study. Very animated, you won't fall asleep.
HIs classes have interesting topics. However, he never comes to class prepared. Overall, tests are ridiculous and the classes are a waste of tuition money
Who doesn't love Whitworth? He cares about teaching you to make smart decisions. Assignments may seem numerous or trivial but it is up to you to use his tools wisely. He is a gem at TCU. I'm a senior, and if it weren't for him I wouldn't have made the most of my education. Don't let the opportunity to expand your mind go. TAKE HIS CLASSES!
As long as you remember that EVERYTHING is the media's fault(nothing is ever the fault of the individual) you'll be fine. I was pretty darn bored from lack of structure- hearing the class suckup repeat everything the 100th time & be praised was a turnoff. But this mediocre rating isn't Whitworth's fault- blame the media.
I have never been let down more. Completely unstimulating classroom environment. Total Christian bias on everything. Whitworth isnt qualified to teach this class, nor does he seem to want to. Never prepared. Petty projects to keep us busy. Akward.
Whitworth has more passion than the rest of my profs this semester. He wants to help so bad that I actually want the bike program (class project) to work! He is vry nice and remembers who you are after the first time he meets you, nice and caring guy. Be prepared to work hard though-so much week to week little projects, class-little boring...
Yes he is scatterbrained and forgets his own assignments but he is very passionate about teaching. All the assingments (and there are many) are to help you in the real-world. Everyone should be forced to take this class because it deals with resumes, and portfolios and things you will need to do one day anyway. Might as well get credit for it.
He is a great guy. The course material was interesting throughout. His tests are tricky though but if you take good notes, read the book, do the extra credit, and work hard, there is no doubt you'll get an A.
Love him although he is a bit of an evangelicalist and gently pushes his beliefs on you. He cares a great deal about the students and that makes an impact on me. He is the reason I'm becoming a Sociology Minor. Wonderful instructor, though it is difficult to study for his exams.
Great professor - really cares about the students. If you read the book and study it's an easy A
LOVE LOVE LOVE this class, and the professor! I wasn't interested in soc. before this class and he is the sole reason i'm so interested in it now. very easy class if you study, although it takes a lot of studying, he makes it so interesting and hes such a passionate teacher, im not just saying this! it was an amazing class!
What an amazing professor! He has really opened my eyes. He sits down at the beginning of class and takes the first few minutes to just talk with everybody. He is so supportive and really knows his stuff. HIGHLY recommend!!!
This guys is awesome. The class is relevant which makes it interesting most of the time. As long as you put a little time into studying its an easy A. He tells you mostly whats on the tests. I recommend him. Hes excited about what he does and it shows, but he tells some HORRIBLE jokes! ;)
Dr. Whitworth is absolutely amazing. His passion for sociology is evident and he wants you to do well. The class is extremely relevant and it is very interesting if you pay attention. He tells herendous jokes, but the class if fun. TAKE THIS CLASS!
Whitworth is an awesome professor and his class gives you a ton of insight to the world we live in. Be prepared to work, but he does offer extra credit. His class involves a lot of reading and online discussions, but the assignments are always interesting. Most importantly he really cares about his students and even has a place to put prayers onlin
He is a wonderful professor. You can tell he is really into what he teaches and it makes the class so much better. If you have a chance I would definately recommend taking his class!
I really enjoyed this class. Once you get used to how he formats his test, they are pretty easy. He also gives you lots of extra credit and opportunities to bring your grade up and quizzes/threaded discussions. I really liked him and his class!
good teacher, pretty easy class, actually really fun
Dr. Whitworth is the best teacher I've had so far at TCU! He is very enthusiastic about sociology and makes learning about it fun. I took his Intro to Sociology class and loved it. Not too hard and interesting. He tells jokes everyday and is really helpful.
This class is one of the must-takes here at TCU. The prof is amazing and he makes this class extremely fun. I would recomend that you take this class from Whitworth and no other. theres lots of EC and the final is not cumulative. He goes through the chapters for what to know right before the test. TAKE THIS CLASS
AMAZING! Dr. Whitworth is a great teacher and wants the best for his students. Works hard at working with you!
Fantastic professor even at 8 in the morning, fairly easy class but you do have to make an effort to attend and read the textbook. Uses ecollege a great amount, easy (many) quizzes, and exams are not hard to study for. [make notecards!]
If your a Democrat or a Liberal you will LOVE this class, otherwise it will be hell. Whitworth is such a nice guy but his class is very biased and is all outside work. You have to do online quizzes which are very tricky and threaded discussions that take forever to do!
Prof. Whitworth is a pretty cool teacher. He is really nice and lots of fun. His tests, though, are a kinda hard, so you should really study EVERYTHING he goes over. The online section of the course can also be a bit time consuming, but it all gets better as the semester goes on. Expect a high B, but he does give out bonuses.
He is a really nice guy, but you need to remind him to grade the tests
Is very knowledge about the subject. Need to get on his good side if you want to make and A. Easy as ever to make a B though.
Overall an ok class. Hes a liberal, Im a conservative so its hard to agree with everything he says. He will tell you his opinion, but soiciology and very opionionated. Tests were hard if you dont like T/F. They can be tricky but not so bad. Plenty of options for EC and quizes to up your grade. USES ECOLLEGE ALOT!
The class is pretty intersting. Tests are pretty tricky, make sure you read the fine print in the text because that becomes alot of questions. Overall pretty good.
I found this class very interesting and fun to go to, but the tests are pretty tricky...you practically have to memorize the textbook to get an A. He also uses E-college a lot with Threaded Discussions (which sometimes take a very long time) and quizzes. He is a very nice man. Oh and you need to go to class!
Dr. Whitworth is a great professor. You must study and attend class to do well in his class. Hav an open mind and feel free to voice your opinion in class- he is very willing to discuss and views.
Prof. Whitworth is a great teacher. He makes the class really interesting. Tests are hard though. You really have to study for them, but he tells you what you need to know.
I think he is difficult but not in a bad way! We wants you to look at the world differently. But take notes and I would not worry too much about reading the chapter before class because he will point out what he wants to know. gives lots of BONUS opportunities, take advantage. Need to keep up with online work! I recommend him though!
This class was extremely pertinent to the world we live in today. It is interesting, and easy to participate, though at times the tests were frustrating. Dr. Whitworth is passionate about this subject which came across in his teaching! For the most part the material is easy to grasp, but the class has a lot of online components which were tedious.
The class it an eye opener, but can be argumentative at times. Dr. Whitworth is obviously passionate about this subject and I have learned a lot from him. It is easy to forget to do some of the online component work because there is so much of it. Overall, I enjoyed the class!
REally fun professor but be prepared to read and take good notes. Tests are a bit tricky as well
I really enjoyed this class. He is a very helpful professor and the information presented is very interesting and useful during everyday life. This should be a required course!
Dr. Whitworth is a very passionate teacher. His tests are indeed tricky but if you read and take notes out of the book you will be in good shape. I will say at times he is overely opinionated but that comes with the sociology field. Hard work is mandatory in order to excel in this class. Do not forget to do the assignments, it is easy to do.
Nice guy. He's not afraid to present his worldview, but he is never mean about it. He is always respectful. I am under the impression that parts of the class are undergoing some change and are experimental right now, but I expect them to be greatly improved in the future as he streamlines everything. I definitely recommend this class.
Good class. I recommend it. Interesting material. If you read the book and study you will do well. Plenty of extra credit opportunities. Some test/quiz questions tricky because of wording. Also the class material tends to be pretty bias. You learn a lot of interesting stuff, but you only hear one side of the arguments.
The discussions and subjects we learned in this class are very interesting. I am a PreMed student and I found the last chapter about healthcare around the world very interesting. I also am more aware of the environment and the concept of sustainability
His class is extremely biased. If he would have been more objective I would have responded better to the class. However, you will learn and grades fair. Not an easy course but you can still do well.
He is a very good teacher and very passionate about what he teaches. This is not a class to blow off because his tets aren't easy but if you go to class,go to the review sessions, do the quizzes and threaded discussions by test time you should be ready. It's a very interesting class and I have learned a lot of interesting information.
nice professor, easy to listen to. go to class, it's hard to catch up if you don't. take good notes. read the text and review your notes for the tests. it's a tough class, but if you put the effort into it, you'll do fine.
He cares about feedback from his students and uses it. The semester begins intolerably hard though.
His questions were to tricky and most of the time depended on marginal differences between similar words and statitstics. If you didnt memorize the text it is very difficult to score high.
Dr.Whitworth is probably the most caring professor on campus. You can seriously just go to the near boston market, and he'll even pay for you! I recommend taking this course. It will certainly make you more aware of the stuff that happening in our society. His test are doable if you study well for it. He has 5 tests so it is easy to bounce back
Intro Sociology with Dr. Whitworth is pretty hard, but I feel that I really learned a lot and am better off after taking the class. Quite liberal, but in mostly good ways. (I see myself as conservative) I'd recommend the class, but ONLY if you're willing to work super hard. The tests will kill you if you're not an extremely hard worker.
This class makes you aware of what is going on in the world around you. I would take the class, I think it was pretty easy if you just read the chapters, which aren't boring to read. Dr. Whitworth is a cool guy!
Great professor and a WONDERFUL class to take! He is truly passionate about what he teaches which makes the course much more interesting. Must go to class and take great notes over what he says, because though the text book is used, his lecture is what the majority of the test is over. Tests are difficult-study his lectures thouroughly!
This class was very intersting. Professor really cares about students input. It is not an easy class, you have to put an effort into it. The test are tricky, but mostly from the book.
This is NOT an easy A. You have to really work for a good grade in this class. READ ALL THE TEXT! Bonus opportunities are provided but onlyu help so much. All I have to say is study, study, STUDY for this class!!!
Difficult to get an A in the class, B's are easily to maintain. Whitworth is interesting and passionate about what he teaches. HOWEVER! The tests are really detailed and make sure you take notes on everything he says, read the chapters, and study!!! I would study, and then the exam questions would be something that he merely mentioned.
Mr. Witworth was a great professor and I learned alot from his class. He cared alot about his students and was always there for you when you needed help on something. I plan on taking another class with him again because he make the class fun and intresting.
He is very passionate about what he teaches. Sometimes it seems like the class is negative, but he focuses on making us aware of the problems in society with the faith that we can change it. You must study for the tests (both from the book and from his lectures) if you want to do well. Also, he doesn't grade his tests quick, so be prepared to wait.
Good and Interesting class, KEEP UP WITH ONLINE MATERIALS. Gives alot of bonus opportunities. If you keep up with all online materials it makes the class much easier
Dr. Whitworth is a great professor and he really knows his stuff. It can be quite obvious what Whitworth's politcal leanings are and he sometimes does not address the other side. He values student input but can be quick to brush off a comment that counters his argument. Overall, the class is very enjoyable but difficult.
I did enjoyed having a passionate and enthusiastic teacher, but this class is not easy. Tests are tricky and you must make sure to keep up with the online quizzes and discussions. If you put in the effort and keep up, you should be fine!
Dr. Whitworth is very insightful and passionate about his job. The class isn't a breeze, you definitely have to study. The tests can be somewhat tricky, but not anything too terrible. You definitely have to make sure you keep up with the online work. It can be tough, but the jokes he starts class with everyday is worth it :)
This class is not an easy A, but I have learned so much in his class that I can apply to my everyday life. Be prepared to do a lot of online assignments, and make sure you study! His lectures may seem negative, but it is only to help his students learn about the world outside of their comfort zone. He is very passionate about what he teaches!
You will learn a lot in this class, but it's definitely not a blow off! You MUST read the text and know it because the texts are pretty much from the book, but they are very tricky!
Really enjoyable class. He talks about information that actually matters and pertains to our lives. Have to keep up with the work and read, but you will really enjoy the class.
The class itself was interesting, and Dr. Whitworth definitely had a passion for it. He is willing to meet you whenever and responds to emails quickly. It's not an easy class but if you read and do the threaded discussions you'll do fine.
Very good teacher! He's really funny and I enjoyed going to his class. I learned a lot in his class and I think it would be great if more people could go to his class.
This class was interesting, and it will definitely encourage you to help change our environment. His tests questions were tricky- even if you spend hours studying. Pay attention to the textbook for sure. In addition there is alot of online work so don't get behind- pay attention to the deadlines. Alot of work for this class but very informing.
You really have to work for your grade in this class. The tests are sometimes tricky and hard but everything comes off the notes and textbook. E-college is big component of this course so keep up with all of the work assigned online.
In order to do well in this class, you must attend class and read the chapters! The tests can be tricky, so study.
Its a really hard class because of the tests, they can be very tricky. Study harder than you expect you will need too---- but dont be disappointed when you are thrown by several answers worth a handful of points. If you are into your grade, this will be frusterated but if you like discussion classes youll love this one. TONS of fascinating discussi
This class was good...Tests are really tough so be sure to study and take good notes. They have a lot of fill in the blank and free response so know your topics. Essays may be time consuming so be aware.
Class requires too much time..if you are not a sociology major..i wouldn't take him..to much online work that he posts up at his convenience...he has too many other activities and doesn't respond to emails quick, annoyingly biased, not recommended for minority students..class will make you mad!!
I Loved this class and this professor! I was not that interested in Sociology before taking this class, and now I am taking another one next semester with the same professor. It is difficult if you do not keep up with the work, but he us very helpful. If you do what you are suppose to, you will get a good grade. TAKE IT!!!
Very nice guy, and class itself is pretty interesting. If you have a hard time keeping up with numerous small assignments, however, you will have one heck of a time keeping up with all the quizzes. They're not that bad, it's just remembering to do them that's the trick.
he is awesome seriously take him if you can
Tests are detail based instead of concept based which can be very frustrating. There is no syllabus for when online quizes are due and can make it difficult to make sure you finish them on time.
The class gets in debates that go on for the entire time and then he rushes through the material you need to know or tells you to read the book. He picks details (not stressed in class) to put on the test. His wording= tricky. You sometimes don't get tests back until two weeks later. If you e-mail him there is a 50/50 chance he will write back.
I found Dr. Whitworth's tests to be difficult and it is kind of annoying to keep up with the online threaded discussions and quizzes. Dr. Whitworth is a cool guy though, and he makes himself available to his students. He really makes an effort to get to know everyone in the class.
test are hard and he tells you to learn main concepts but then puts details and statistics on the test you do not get your tests back for weeks due dates on threaded discussions and quiz are unclear
Keith is a great teacher. He does a great job of getting you involved and making you care about what you're learning about. My suggestion is to stay on top of the TDs, I forgot to do some of them and it can hurt your grade. Also, make sure to read the book not everything is from lecture. It is a worthwhile class, but you can't slack off.
He is a great guy. However, he rarely returns emails. He is totally ambiguous in what he wants and then you get your grade back after 2 months and its too late to do anything about it. His attitude about is oh well. I learned alot in the class, but not from him-the guest lectures. The book was useless.
This class started out great and it was pretty easy. I got a high A on one of his tests but as the semester went along he became more and more busy so he moved to having true/ false exams which were much harder and didn't show what we actually knew. Even so it took him almost 4 weeks to grade our last exam! There were also 40 grades! Do not take.
I coulsn't stand this class. He is very bias throughout the class. The tests were hard because he expected you to remember obscure stats and vocab that he never mentioned in class. Definetly read the chapters.
One recommendation about his class is: read the chapters! He will give pop quizzes based off what you were supposed to have read. He is very nice and helpful, however his class requires your full attention. Anything he possibly mentions could be on the tests!
Very, very nice guy though he has no time to do anything outside of attending class so don't expect to get tests back for weeks. You'll learn a lot but don't expect that to get you anywhere on the tests because they're ridiculous. Memorizing the book is your only option.
His introductory sociology class was awful. Rather than learning about sociology, we learned about his opinion on current events. He is awful at debating and condescending if you disagree. Don't take him if you are conservative, like sociology, or don't like professors who go off on tangents.
I took him for intro sociology and sustainability. He is my favorite teacher on TCU campus. He is extremely helpful and if you go to class the day before the test and highlight what he goes over in the text its a really easy A. I keep looking for excuses to take his class because they are so entertaining and interesting while also being really easy
I really like Dr. Whitworth as a person, but sometimes the class lacked structure when it came to testing/getting your grades. The test format did not remain constant so it made it hard to know how to study for most of the tests, but he does go over book material to help you know what to study.
Prof Whitworth is a very nice man and he is very passionate about what he teaches. However, his teaching style is rarely straightforward. You will not have any idea what to do in order to prepare for the tests. He makes the subject much more difficult than it has to be. take another prof.
He is never prepared for class and wastes most of the time telling you about his weekend and why he didn't have time to do what he was supposed to do for class. This would be fine if his tests weren't awful. Ridiculous True/False that are impossible to understand because of his writing style. Don't take if you don't have to.
He is an interesting professor and talks about some very valid issues that get your mind thinking but his tests are awful. One will be mostly multiple choice, another vocabulary, another strictly notes from his lectures and he never really tells you which one it's going to be. Don't miss class because there are lots of quizzes.
I HATED this class. His tests are very hard and are heavily weighted. He is spread too thin and is hard to get a hold of. Memorizing all the the text is essential for a good grade. Lots of T/F questions and statistics on tests. Take another professor.
Dr. Whitworth is amazing! He was the first professor at TCU who actually cared about my life outside of the classroom. He is an intellectual teacher, he is passionate about the environment, and I highly recommend him!
he's a good teacher but his voice cracks a lot and it bothers me. He lectures all class but he usually tells you exactly what to read in the text for the test. know the text book and videos he shows in class for the tests and if you're bad at true and false you're screwed cause thats the whole test. nice guy though. easy b at the least.
I really enjoyed this class. You can skip a couple and it won't hurt you. You really learn a lot about Sociology and it's really interesting. He won't bump up your grade though, he's really strict on that. I ended up pulling off an A- and it was one of my easier classes. Great professor, one of TCU's best!
Its was a nice class. I enjoyed it:)
Professor Whitworth is awesome! You have to do a assignment every week but it helps you understand the lesson for the next few classes. Most def. take his class, you will learn so much about the world we live in.
Really interesting class and very nice teacher!
Dr. Whitworth was definitely a favorite professor this semester. If you follow his lectures and highlight the important sentences, the tests won't be hard at all. There were a lot of facts but they were all extremely interesting and definitely related to everyday aspects of society. I would gladly take another class from Dr. Whitworth if I could.
Would definately recommend this class. I learned a lot. If you just go to class, pay attention, and read from the chapter you'll do well. Tests were short, straight forward, and fair. Definately worth taking.
Loved this class!. Very interesting and never boring. If you want a class that challenges you but is still fun, I advise yo to take this class. The only downside is that there is a good share of reading material and article reviews but I think it is worth the time.
Dr. Whitworth's class is easy if you do the Explorations & come for lecture, which can get extremely boring. His tests are way easy if you know your stuff & understand broad topics & statistics. His jokes are lame, but laugh so he stops telling them. Although he's a little corny & easy, he's a very well prepared professor & an excellent teacher.
This class was so much fun. It was the only class that I actually looked forward to going to thi semester. Professor Whitworth is an amazing educator and a wonderful model for his students.
Professor Whitworth was a great teacher to have. I took his intro to sociology course to get required credits out of the way, and ended up enjoying it very much. He makes the class interesting. Test materials draw from the book and some in class stuff, making attendance necissary at times but not manditory. Its not easy, but its a fun class.
He's a really great professor. I really enjoyed coming to his class everyday, even though it was early. He's genuinely interested in the subject and he's never boring. Definitely take his class! Tests aren't too hard and explorations really bump your grade!
this was my favorite class! very interesting and made me want to come to class..even at 8am! tests are short but tricky so you need study everything, especially things said in class. dr. whitworth has been my favorite teacher & i cant wait to take more of his classes!
Professor Whitworth is one of the best teachers at TCU! i was actually interested in his class and his jokes at the beginning of class were a nice way of easing us into the 8 am class.
He is by far one of the BEST professors I have had! He genuinely cares about his students and has a passion for what hes teaching!! TAKE HIS CLASS YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!!
This class was extremely interesting! Although I did not necessarily agree with everything it broadened my knowledge so that I could make my own informed decisions. TED videos were great! Just keep up with all the exploration and simplicity assignments and you will get a good grade!
Environmental sustainability =admirable, and Whitworth's passion is obvious; he's kind, shows vested interest in his students. BUT, grossly unclear/conflicting with stats and numbers (needs scientific co-teacher?); undermining anecdotes (using University "top faculty" award $ for turtle traps, etc), thus lost student confidence...great guy, tho!
Awesome and easy class!!1
Professor Whitworth is very nice and hlpeful. He is willing to meet students outside of class and is most interested in the student actually learning the material. He lectures about stuff not in the book, so attending class is mandatory. The tests are over class notes and the textbook, which needs to be read more than once to be prepared.
Great class to take. Learned a lot and i was not even interested in the class before taking it.
Class seemed unorganized at times, but that was almost certainly an exception due to the lack of a TA this semester. Dr. Whitworth was enthusiastic and engaging. I would have appreciated more time spent on lecture, but the class was genuinely enlightening, which is rare. I feel like I got a lot out of this class.
He has a LOT of guest speakers. Whitworth is actually really interesting, I wish he would have talked to us more. I had almost no interest in this class prior to enrolling and I actually appreciated the information I learned and found it very useful. Whitworth is a great guy - very respectful and he really practices what he preaches.
Great Prof. Class is awesome when he teaches. The other guest speakers... not so much. You'll love it if you love sustainable things, if not... don't be that guy that wants to argue...
As a generally "A" student who enjoys learning and using her brain, I disliked the way he conducted the sustainability course. The guest lecturers were interesting, but he himself was unprepared, he lost interest in his own course, and he did no critical thinking of his own. He seems like a nice guy, but class with him was frustrating.
Extremely nice, intelligent professor, but his tests are pretty tough. Most of the questions are true/false and based on obscure facts from the lectures and book. Take him if you want a challenge.
Dr. Whitworth is a nice guy. His class is easy if you read the tiny amount he goes over in the book and listen to lecture. EASY Multiple choice tests, but can be trick questions. Overall, if you're taking Intro cuz you have to, Whitworth is good.
Very Knowledgable, Gets the Class Motivated to participate. Knows everything on the Vietnam War. Understanding. Funny and very worth taking!
I really enjoyed his class. If you stayed long enough during the final he will do his best to help you. My favorite class over 3 semester at TCU.
Starts out hard then gets easier. Take him if you can.
I love Dr. Whitworth! He keeps the class really interesting and pretty easy. There are a lot of assignments to complete, but they are not hard. Just grade fillers to cushion your test grades. He gives reviews for the tests and they get easier every time. Show up, he takes attendance every day!
a bit scatter brained but an easy class if you take notes and pay attention to the videos in class. most ecollege assignments are just graded on completion so easy points. don't buy the textbook because the online version comes on ecollege
uses a variety of approaches to teach sustainability. ideal college course that makes you think, and think about changing your non-sustainable ways!
Dr. Whitworth is a very interesting professor. I never thought I would find sociology so fascinating. Tests come from his power points and the book. Overall, not a difficult class. Oh, and don't take bottled water into his class.
Had him for sustainability. Extremely NICE professor. The class is easy. Exams are easy when you study for them. There are assignments due everyday, but the assignments are usually only 3 questions. I would recommend this class as an Easy A.
Great course! I felt like I learned a lot. The tests are pretty easy if you take notes in class and he also points out what needs to be studied in the textbook.
Dr. Whitworth is great! I took his sustainability class and his class is so interesting! This class is somewhat related to environmental issues. Also, this course if life changing! Just complete your assignments and also try to attend many extra credit events as much as possible. Getting an A is manageable.
I had Dr. Whitworth for sustainability. He is wonderful! He is so sweet, and he really cares about his students. An A should be achievable if you turn in all of your homework assignments on time and complete and look over the study guides before tests. This class really did change me because now I don't use plastic water bottles. LOVE WHITWORTH!
Whitworth is a good person but class was frustrating. He was very hard to get in contact with and constantly changed assignment guidelines/dates on the syllabus. In fact, he did not grade our class's first exam until May. There were so many reading/daily assignments I felt it should have been a writing emphasis. Class was informative but redundant.
Do all of the assignments on time and do the study guides before tests, and you'll probably get an A. Pop quizzes, so come to class/read for those. Sometimes he assigns things that aren't in the syllabus, so that can be annoying. Would be better as a small class instead of in a big lecture hall, but what are you gonna do?
Dr. Whitworth is a great teacher. Study for tests and do his assignments and you should get an A. Only complaint is the syllabus changes a lot.
Do NOT take this class! Teacher was confusing, unhelpful, unfriendly and not nice. He is a rigid grader yet it is extremely confusing to figure out what he wants so you can not discern what guidelines he is actually imposing and what he really wants! Please save yourself the time, money and aggravation and not no take this course!
The Syllabus changes a lot, way to much actually. He also changes things after the fact. I did all of the extra credit to get my grade to an A and the last week he told us we could only get 25 points. I did all of that work for nothing and it brought me down to a B+.
Dr. Whitworth is a decently kind professor and the class itself is easy, as is the first exam, however, the 2nd, 3rd, and final are absurd and even if he says just to study certain things, you must study everything. Also, you must go to class even if you're sick. He's difficult to work with if you miss.
I thought at the beginning of the semester that I wouldn't like him, but I was wrong! He is very nice and helpful! You can email him before tests for clarification and he is very clear on what will be on the test. There is a 3 question quiz every single day over the reading, but if you read, they are really easy and great grade boosters.
I enjoyed taking this Sustainability class because I learned good life lessons. There is a quiz once or twice a week online and 4 big tests that are very hard. Overall nice teacher. Get ready to study, A's and B+ do not come easy. Just read material and ask questions, you will do fine. Also a two easy group projects.
You have to buy a textbook and an access code for online materials (MySocLab) though his lectures do not focus on the content from these sources. His lectures are boring. This is not a class where you come to learn seriously.
He's great! Such a great professor and person. Take his class!
Whitworth is a helpful guy, even if a little quirky. He's very helpful and is willing to answer any questions and facilitate discussion. He's very hung up on the assignments in his online textbook, but most of the notes you need for the test come from his lectures. For the most part, I enjoyed his class, and learned a lot. I would recommend him.
Intro to Sociology: Overall, he's a pretty good teacher. He offers extra credit, but you have to attend 3 events and do write-ups for only a 1% grade boost. He goes off-topic frequently, but his grading policies are fair. He gives you study guides and quizlets before each exam that are super helpful, and the final is non-cumulative.
Whitworth is a pretty straightfoward kind of guy. He's kind of quirky, but his lectures are interesting and you actually learn while not having to kill yourself for an A. Gives you a studyguide and a quizlet for exams. If you put in the work and do the studyguide, you'll be fine. Don't bother with the extra credit.
I like Whitworth. I took his Intro to Sociology class. It's pretty easy, and also pretty interesting.
Prof. Whitworth overall is just fine. His online textbook's chapters are very long and he expects you to read all of it. He would also require you to read a chapter of the book before he talks about it in class, and he ends up repeating what he says in the chapter, making attendance in class pointless except for the fact that it is mandatory.
Great
Attendance is very important because 20% of your grade will be from in class activities. He give you the chance to make up 3 missed assignments by extra credit opportunities. You can also join a volunteer program called Cycling Without Age and get +1% to your overall grade. 4 exams (20% each) makeup the rest of the course. Would take again!
Dr. Whitworth is such a caring professor! Super nice and gives you extra credit that boosts your overall average grade. The only reason I rated him a 4 is because he uses +/- scale, so I got an A- in that class, but I didn't really try in that class. Before each test, he tells you what to study--TAKE IT SERIOUSLY!! Final is also not cumulative!
DON'T TAKE WHITWORTH FOR INTRO TO SOCIOLOGY! He wrote the textbook and is super attached to it -- makes you know everything about it. Attendance is mandatory but the class is a waste of time. He gives study guides but NOTHING from the study guide is on the test. Makes you write a lot of essays that count for 5 points on a test and he's just weird.
Whitworth is by far the most difficult Intro to Sociology teacher. Unlike other professors, he assigns writing assignments due every class. He also makes extra credit work significantly more time-consuming than other teachers. He is a nice guy and is available outside of class, but I'd definitely take a different prof if I had the chance to redo.
This class was based entirely on the textbook. The textbook is super easy to learn but the writing assignments can take a long time. The tests are identical to the study guide but it is a pain to go to class because no one actually listens while Whitworth drones on about whatever he feels like saying that day.
Professor Whitworth is one of the most caring professors. However, BEWARE that his tests are true/false and "choose all that apply". His lectures were SO EASY to understand, however his tests were very tricky. This class was harder than what it needed to be for an intro class & there are other easier professors that teach this course.
Great professor. Just put in the time to study for the tests and youll do fine! Would highly recommend him.
Really good professor. He makes you work for your grade but it is very clear what you have to do to get there.
Dr. Whitworth is a pretty cool person, but his class is though. Get ready to read and write a lot. My advice is to partner up with your classmates and work on the study guides from each chapter. It is a lot of content, but worth studying from them.
Professor Whitworth is an amazing professor, he is very helpful and tries to always give you help when needed. He is very open and available and is a funny and interesting guy.
Dr. Whitworth really cares for his students but he makes sure that if you want an A in his class you have to work for it. The writing and application assignments are easy points but take up time. Tests consist of choose all that apply and true/false has interesting lectures and makes you want to succeed in his class
I like the teaching way that Dr. Whitworth lectures us in class.
Dr. Whitworth is a great professor. As an international student, I find his exams are hard. And you have to read, do 3 assignments per week. But everything worths. I would recommend you take his class if you want to study sociology, but if you just want an easy A class, don't. There'll be opportunities to get some extra credits, though.
Great teacher with a great background for this class. Loves what he does and you can see it in his teaching. Dont miss any class and youll pass.
He is a great teacher. You can tell that he loves teaching this class which helps keep it interesting. There are a decent amount of homework assignments, but none of them take more than 20 minutes and he grades them pretty easily. If you need to take a Sociology class, I would HIGHLY recommend taking his class.
The tests are basically 98% based off the textbook, 2% based off some facts he'll throw at you in class. He gives a lot of chances for extra credit. You do have to read the textbook in this class. Be aware that his tests have a lot of "choose all that apply" questions on them so there are a lot of lists that you have to memorize. Those are tricky.
there are a lot of homework assignments but they are pretty easy. He is not a hard grader, however, he doesn't give partial credit. But all around good teacher!
Awful - avoid
Not my favorite class but tolerable - tricky test questions - looooovvvvvveeeesssss the textbook he wrote
Prof Whitworth is actually a super cool guy. You can tell that he is very smart and knows what he is talking about. The biggest issue though is that he does not know how to relate a lot of this information to his students. His tests are more difficult then they need to be. If you take his class be ready to read and pay attention to little details.
Very interesting class. Professor makes the lectures very enjoyable and holds a very caring atmosphere in the classroom
Dr. Witworth is an overall great professor. Sociology is a subject that really makes you put everything you do into perspective. It's crazy to think how much of our personality and decisions are products of socialization. In this class, we discuss and apply sociological concepts to the problems our world faces today. Definitely would recommend!
Make such to really look at the text book and to study a lot for the exams. But overall I enjoy the class.
Very caring guy and you can tell that he is knowledgeable about the subject. Homework assignments due every class but they aren't too hard to complete. The tests are very hard and are all from the textbook so you have to read (he wrote the book). The extra credit assignment is a lot of work for a minimal increase: 5 papers for a 1% increase
He's a good teacher but his test can be tricky from time to time. Also the only issue with his class is that you can read the text book and do the assignments and don't go to class and you'll be fine. But attendance is mandatory but overall would take him again he's a good teacher.
The class is significantly harder than you would expect an intro to sociology class to be. The tests are all choose all that apply and true/false. If you are willing to read every chapter in the book and really study before each test than you will do fine. He also gives assignments due before every class that are rather easy and balance tests
Overall, great professor! Lecture can be a bit boring but he is very knowledgeable and sincere about what he teaches. Test can be a bit tricky and it's usually over lots of chapters. Make sure you read, do the study guides, and practice tests days or weeks before the tests. The book is well written and very helpful.
If you read the textbook you should be fine. He also gives out a lot of extra credit.
he is good
he's a good teacher and a very intelligent person. he wrote the textbook so he loves it with his whole heart, if you don't know the basic vocab and ideas from each chapter the tests will be impossible. his lectures are interesting and he really knows the topic! he's a really cool prof
At the beginning of the year, he came across as a hardcore person. But once you get into his course, he's a good teacher and loves having debates about different view.
He is a good guy, he knows what he is talking about. REALLY loves the textbook he wrote. Tests are a lot of choose all that apply and true false, oh also!! he loves putting random statistics on his test. Homework assignments are not too bad. He is a great guy and wants to get to know you!
Dr. Whitworth is the most caring teacher I have ever had. He is beyond charismatic and truly wants every student to succeed. This is not an easy A but A's are possible if you just study what he recommends.
The only reason you have to show up is because he takes attendance, read the textbook and you'll do fine on tests. Nice guy, he'll respond to your emails and help if you go to his office.
I didnt care for Dr. Whitworth at first, but after a couple weeks I learned to love him. He is a witty guy and hilarious once you get to know his humor. His tests are a little tricky as most of the questions are choose all that apply. Homework assignments were very easy though. Lots of reading since he wrote the textbook
Dr. Whitworth is one of my favorite professors ever. He has an extensive knowledge about everything and shares so much with you. His tests can be tricky but if you do his reviews and take good notes in class you'll be fine. Hilarious teacher and his lectures are very interesting. 5 skips and you get 10% off your grade so go. Great sociology class!
He is an overall good teacher. The tests are overall pretty easy. Class notes are picked up after every class. There is homework every other day. He does give a lot of extra credit opportunities.
This class was definitely challenging but if you work for it & do the extra credit, you can get an A. READ THE BOOK. He wrote it so the most of the test questions come straight from it. He also knows what he's talking about, but doesn't always explain everything clearly. Go to class everyday or he takes 10% off your grade after 4 absences!
Dr. Whitworth is literally the best professor I have had at TCU. His class was so easy and fun. He really cares about each one of his students. Even a year after I took his class he still says hi to me if I see him. Would definitely take.
This class is pretty straightforward. There is homework every other day, but it is easy and the tests are simple enough as long as you read the chapters online. Make sure to go to class because attendance is mandatory and you have to turn in your notes. Dr. Whitworth is super understanding and caring.
His tests can be difficult, but overall an A is achievable. Everything is based on the book, so you don't really have to listen to lectures because ALL YOU HAVE TO DO is study the book for the exams. You can skip 5 lectures, but after that he takes off points from your overall grade. Overall, not a bad professor, but I've had better.
He is too hard and never test over what he taught
good i loved that
Dr. Whitworth is very specific about how he wants things done. There are eight tests and all of the questions were either true/false or "select all that apply". Take note of the details he brings up in lecture and make sure you know specifics for the tests. The tests can be tricky! I would take the class again, but it wasn't my favorite.
Easy A as long as you show up and do the work outside of class. There are 8 tests (no cumulative final). The tests are annoying as they're all true/false or "select all that apply," but if you read the textbook, you'll get above an 85 % on every one. You can get up to 2% extra credit too. He's a good guy and cares a lot about his students.
Professor Whitworth is so cool. You don't have to work super hard for Sociology but if you do, you'll get an A. He really cares about his student's mental health, and he is pretty funny. His lectures are really interesting, I got a lot out of this class.
Professor Whitworth cares a lot about his students. He goes out of his way to make sure the learning is enjoyable and that everyone gets the most out of his class. Does not round. You must show up to get an A. Can be politically biased and teaches his opinion as fact.
Dr. Whitworth is literally one of the funniest Sociology professors at TCU. He definitely cares about his students and makes an effort to help them through any issues (personal experience). His class is pretty easy as long as you read the textbook and do the assignments. Attendance is mandatory but you'll enjoy the class.
He's super friendly and cares about his students. Tests can be hard and extra credit is busy work, but the content is interesting. You only get a combined 5 absences and tardies so good luck
Whitworth is a nice guy but his lectures don't make any sense. I literally taught myself everything from the textbook and still wouldn't get good grades because his tests are too specific. He also treats you like you're in middle school by giving you assigned seats and tokens when you're late. This class isn't worth the time.
Dr. Whitworth is very kind and lays out his expectations clearly, but I learned next to nothing in this class because he never gives a lecture of his own (he always brings in semi-relevant guest speakers or just lectures straight from the book) and goes off on tons of tangents. Most of the people in class didn't try.
Dr. Whitworth is a very caring professor who is flexible with students if need be. There is a lot of textbook reading and the tests could sometimes be difficult, but if you study you'll be fine. He also allowed a lot of extra credit opportunities and gives many small daily/quiz grades to boost your grade.
He is a sweet guy. You have to buy the textbook since he wrote it. He gives lots of extra credit, I am just too lazy to do it. You have to read the book, 1 quiz for every 1,5 weeks, and an exam for every 2 chapters. This class makes you work for it, and I learned a lot after this class. He is so caring
Dr. Whitworth is an amazing teacher! He cares about his students and provides a safe and engaging learning space. We have open note (and sometimes open book) exams and quizzes. We also have a few writing assignments scattered throughout the semester, but these are very easy.
His class is very easy as long as you read the the book. Everything from the book is on the test and 4 out of the 5 tests we were allowed to use the book. You really only spend an hour doing work in his class for the whole week. Super easy class I would recommend everyone take it for an easy A.
This class is not hard at all if you read the textbook. All of the homework was online in the textbook. The textbook also gives you study guides that are similar to tests. Do homework and study for tests for an easy A. Also Whitworth is a very caring guy.
He is kind of professor you can talk to about anything. He is so kind and cares so much about his students. I emailed him one day and told him I would miss class due to personal reasons and he met with me outside of class, and just talked about how I was doing. As for his class, you read the textbook and fill out a worksheet and take the test. Easy
Dr. Whitworth is one of the sweetest professors at TCU and his class is super easy. Every week you have easy textbook assignments, which are practically completion. Tests are pretty easy and open book. If you don't show up to class he won't penalize you and he truly cares about his students.
Dr. Whitworth is a great teacher, who cares about his students and is very understanding. he loves participation and when students ask questions. He offers many bonuses, so if you need an extra grade bump those will help. All in all an amazing teacher that I highly recommend.
Ignore every past review of him, because his class is completely different now. Attendance is required and graded, and tests are all closed book now. His teaching is also biased and leans left. I don't have a problem when someone is left-leaning, but he teaches it in a condescending way as though he's the only correct one.
Dr. Whitworth is a nice guy and wants his students to succeed. However, for intro sociology, this class was too hard. You basically have to teach yourself which I did, and it did not help me do better on exams. He never goes over everything that will be on the test so you have to read the book thoroughly. Anyway, nice guy but would not recommend.
Dr. Whitworth is a really great professor. There are 5 exams throughout the semester and the last one is the final so it's not cumulative. Exams are both open and closed book. You have to complete certificates and worksheets but they aren't hard at all. Make sure to study for exams, but he also offers 2% extra credit to your overall grade.
favorite professor. really takes the time to get to know everyone. He wrote his own textbook, so exams are all in there. Take him if you get the opportunity for intro to sociology!!!!
Whitworth is so nice and none of his assignments/tests were overwhelming. There is frequent HW but it's easy. Tests were open-book for us all semester when I had him, but I have heard students from the most recent semester say he didn't do this for all of their exams. If you do the work you'll get an A and none of it is too hard.
Dr. Whitworth really cares about his students and the subjects he teaches. You have weekly homework, but its all completion and can be done quickly. 3/5 of his tests were open book(including final), and he gives clear and fantastic resources to study for the ones that aren't. You just have to prepare when it's needed and you'll get a good grade.
Dr. Whitworth is a really great professor, who cares a lot about his students and is very understanding. His course is designed to really educate students and help them succeed. He offers bonuses throughout the semester that can help boost your grade.
Take him you'll love him!!
Dr.Whitworth is by far the best professor you can take at TCU! He truly cares about what he's teaching and makes sure to provide current examples in his lectures. This year, he gave 5 exams and the exams are pretty easy in my opinion and it's possible to score a 100. Definitely take him if you want a professor who is accessible.
One of my favorite professors and I feel bad because people would use their phones during class. His assignments are pretty easy and make sure to take advantage of the bonus opportunities because it can really boost your grade. I will say his feedback on assignments was not that helpful, but the criteria were clear. Overall, dedicated professor.
The class is set up so that you read and submit a chapter certificate for the textbook as homework maybe once a week to be prepared for classes which are just lectures over the material, there's two papers due for the whole semester, and 5 exams (our class had 3 open note). He's a very kind and respectable person as well.
Great professor! Reading the textbook and study guides extensively will make or break your grade! Give yourself at least two days of studying and you will ace the exams (3/5 were open book for our class). Two 500-word essays with plenty of time given; he also offered to read rough drafts early and provided feedback. Happy to have had him!
He is a great professor who I would take again. Attendance is mandatory but as long as you show up and take class notes you will be good. Tests are pretty neutral and he let 3/5 of them be open note. The final papers are manageable and he will even help you edit them if you turn them in early.
Really easy going guy and cares a lot about sociology. As long as you keep up with weekly work the entire class is really quite easy.
Dr. Whitworth was an amazing teacher! He is very intelligent when it comes to sociology and cares a lot about teaching. The class is easy as long as you keep up with the reading. You have 4 free absences, use them wisely.
Notes have to be submitted for attendance daily, chapter certificates about weekly (can miss 2), 5 exams (some open note), & 1 writing assignment. Easy just pay attention. He's absolutely wonderful. You do learn and have a good time.
Amazing professor, really good personality. A lot of his tests are open book, they can be kind of difficult. Provides 5 bonuses that altogether boost your grade by 2%, only allows you to complete 2 the last 2 weeks of school. It might not seem worth it but trust me it is, you'll want all 5. Uses notes as attendance with an attendance sheet.
He's genuinely a great guy and wants you to succeed. If you actually listen to the lectures you will do well in the class. He keeps content interesting too. Lots of extra credit, but exam heavy.
Keith is literally my favorite teacher of this semester. He is hilarious and his class is very simple and easy to get an A in! His exams are pretty easy as long as you go over your notes and read the textbook (4 exams were open note). Hes very passionate about sociology and wants you to leave this class having a basic understanding! Loved him 10/10
Dr. Whitworth is very kind and clearly wants his students to do well. Exams are very easy with most of them being open book, and there are many extra credit opportunities. The lectures are very interesting as well. The SociologicalYou textbook is very well written and easy to study. The class is a very easy A.
You can simply attend class, listen, and pass. Attendance is taken. If you do the work which is very easy work, take good notes, and do the assigned textbook work you will get an A. He is willing to work with you and your schedule and offers SO MANY extra credit opportunities. It's an easy A and he's a good professor.
Dr. Whitworth is one of the sweetest professors and I always loved going to his class. He wrote the ebook you use and it is completely online. There are readings and quizzes every week but they're all in the textbook. If you do the readings the exams are straightforward. You have one paper and it's split up into two parts which he gives feedback on
5 exams on your computer, 3/5 were open textbook (not note). Lectures-super boring but we played Monopoly once. No quizzes. Textbook completion. One Cultural Awareness assignment at the end where you have to depict how 12ish sociological factors are a part of your life in 150-250 words each but able to use chat gpt on this. Easier class but boring.
Professor Whitworth's class is well-structured with engaging lectures and fair assessments. The online textbook is helpful, and using unstuckstudy AI alongside the readings makes studying straightforward. Attendance is mandatory, but the exams are manageable with proper preparation.
Dr. Whitworth is so kind and caring! It is clear that he genuinely wants to get to know his students. But, HIS EXAMS ARE SO HARD. They are in person and are all subjective and over information not always talked about during lectures.
Overall good class, however, the tests were extremely difficult and entirely subjective. I studied multiple hours before an exame, just to find out that they were mostly true or false questions that were extremely subjective to a persons point of view. I do not recommend this class unless you're planning on a mediocre grade.
Keith was a good professor in many ways but he just didn't care about the individual student. You could tell his tests are geared towards the holy bell curve which made the intro class my hardest class to get an A in. If you are taking this class to have a fun time learning something new but you don't want to have to work to hard don't take it.
Such a good, involved teacher. He wrote the textbook, but you really just need to study the notes he gives you in class to be prepared for the exams. The exams are not easy, but you get a review day before each exam. I enjoyed this class so much that I am now working towards my sociology minor.
Very sweet, but harder applied testing curves, but overall very well and good class
I took his introduction to sociology class, and it was very test-heavy. You need to read the textbook, and class is mandatory. He is a sweet person, but I wouldn't recommend him if you want an easy core.
Dr. Whitworth is a super nice guy, but if you want an easy A, do not take this. He assigns weekly homework, attendance is mandatory, and his lectures are very boring. His tests are on the textbook and notes you fill out during class, but he is always very unclear about what specifically will be on the test, and they're hard to do well on.
