unclear, boring, i knew more about nutrition before i took the class
nice woman, fairly easy class, but she's not too enthusiastic
BORING...**pay attention to tables & charts in the book!!**
you have to translate her lectures into proper english, rediculous
Very helpful- wants you to succeed. If you put in the effort you will do well. Very interesting classes and loved her stories and experiences.
Great Professor! Took her twic becasue she was cool and intersting. Knows a lot about international nutrition. Easy to get a good grade...participate. If you need to hand something in late, she is cool and is very understanding. Make sure she knows u
Class is kinda boring but she is a really nice professor. Pay attention to those charts/tables in the text book! I like her accent.
her tests are SO hard and she tells you "what you need to know" on WebCT and none of that stuff is on the exams.. Horrible wording of all the questions on the exams
DO NOT TAKE THIS LADY UNLESS YOU A GENIUS!!!! THE ONLY GOOD PART OF HER CLASS WAS IT MADE A GOOD NAP TIME! SHE HAS A KIND OF BRITTISH ACCENT FROM SOUTH AFRICA AND DIMS THE LIGHTS AND USES BLUE AND WHITE POWER POINTS WHICH MAKE YOU WANT TO SLEEP. SHE IS EXTREMELY DETAILED ON HER TEST AND YOU WON'T DO
I took this class honors and it was the biggest waste of time. The woman just outlines the chapter on powerpoint and it's painful to sit through class. Take a different teacher. She's a sweet woman, she just doesn't know how to teach effectively.
Her notes dont match what is in the textbook, doesnt know the answer to your questions, exam questions are really random, dietary analysis takes awhile to complete but its easy
THE MOST HORRIBLE TEACHER IN THE WORLD, DO NOT GET HER! IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DO WELL BECAUSE SHE DOES NOT TEACH! HER LECTURE IS A WASTE OF TIME AND SHES A HORRIBLE PERSON, NEVER EVER EVER GET HER SHES A ****!
She is by fat the worst teacher on the face of the planet and her notes make no sense and are in no particular order. take only if you want to fail
Her lectures were very unclear and extremely boring...make sure you do not get her as your teacher! Her tests and quizzes are ridiculous
I can't believe this woman was actually hired as a professor for a college! She did not have much knowledge on an intro nutrition class & couldn't answer basic questions. She was unprepared & late for class many times. The tests were hard considering what she taught us but I ended up with an alright grade. I would definitely take another professo
Was not knowledgeable at all in nutrition. One day her powerpoint wouldn't work, I thought she would die. Class is okay, lectures are online. Get a different teacher if you can!
Missed at least one class out of three per week. Unprepared and unknowledgable. By far the worst professor I've ever had in college, she should be teaching high school, maybe.
I took this class because I heard Nutrition 200 was supposed to be a easy A class. SO not the case with this lady. she's a real sweet lady, but a horrible teacher. She isn't clear on anything, including the topic and assignments, she's rarely available to help, and her tests and quizzes are IMPOSSIBLE. DON'T TAKE HER CLASS.
Worst teacher i have ever had. hates teaching and refusing to help..wants you to fail...impossible to get a good grade on anything. lazy lazy lazy
This class is an atrocity, she is a sweet woman but everything is SO unclear and ambiguous you can't help but laugh. Her powerpoints will put you to sleep, but you must attend class because pop quizzes are given. Assignment due dates were changed in mid-setence, along with what the assignment actually was, save yourself the trouble and confusion.
very nice woman but class was extremely hard.it was so much information that this just got to be very confusing. show up to class b/c there r pop quizzes but she goes way too fast through her powerpoints. she will hesitate to give do date and may even change them but expect them to be turned in at an exact time in her office. best just to avoid her
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ESPECIALLY WITH THIS TEACHER!!!!
So disgusted by this teacher... I came to all her pointless lectures then missed ONE class. This one class happened to have an in-class assignment. That damn class assignment dropped my grade from an A to a B. This class discouraged me so much. Take notes on your own time. She just goes off on tangents in class.
Don't take Setiloane. Half of the power point slides are useless. If you ask her a Q she'll just stare at you until someone else in the room answers. One student asked her a Q in class today and her answer was "look it up." Don't even bother going to her for Q's with the dietary analysis, she'll tell you to go to the TA. Unorganized and ineffective
It's obvious that Setiloane does not want to be teaching this class. She is boring and unhelpful. It seems like she hardly knows what she's talking about. She pretty much just reads from her slides. She posts them so going to class really isn't necessary. Just read the chapters she assigns on the syllabus and you should be fine.
This teacher does not know the material at all. She would be helpless without her slides. Her lecture notes are verbatim from the text book. Don't go to class. Its pointless. Just read the book and take the exams. I would not recommend her to anyone.
this professor is terrible. she knows nothing about what she is teaching. useless for help. worst experience so far in college. one day she forgot her notes and ended class early because she has no idea what she is doing. she should be working at a dining hall!
One day her TA had to teach and did a far superior job than she did. The book is far more useful because everything she says is directly from it on power point slides and without them, she's clueless. Get her if you don't like going to classes and just prefer to read the chapters, you'll probably learn more from the book faster actually.
Attendance is mandatory for pop quizzes. She doesn't really convey a whole lot of useful information in class but it's pretty much guaranteed there will be a random question about it on the exam. Read the book. She gives lots of opportunity to get extra points (easy to do well). Some times she isn't very clear, but don't bother asking questions.
I found her to be fair and as long as you did the work you would get the appropriate grades. She showed great videos that made you think. She is very helpful if you go and ask for help she will actually go out of her way for you. I don't understand why her ratings are so low. She is clear and she is approachable but you must work for your grade
Really enjoyed her class. She is very clear even though she does have an African/British accent. She is helpful if you go to her office. I love that she addresses issues of health disparity/race/culture when she can. Yeh, she does have a couple of great videos that she showed.
Easy class if you do the work!
Don't take this class! This woman is the reason why I changed my major, she doesn't know the material and reads straight from the powerpoint. She is the slowest creature and would not know what to do if she don't have her notes. If it wasn't for a hot guy sitting next to me in class, I would not show up for class.
This teacher is completely useless, she has no clue what she is talking about and bs'es from the slides. The tests are impossible, the project long, boring, and unclear. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR STEER CLEAR.
This is a very unhelpful professor. She does not really know what she is talking about and would be lost without her power points. You should attend class because there are some pop quizzes that can hurt your grade. Very boring lectures though and in general she useless. If you can definitely find a different professor.
An obese nutrition teacher? Yes. That should have been my clue to stay clear of this class. She is probably like this because she does not understand nutrition concepts, which is probably why I had to teach myself.
Ok, let's see. She is a fat Nutriton teacher. She literally has no idea what she is talking about...I think she actually made me dumber because she mispronounces everything. Don't bother going to class, she teachers DIRECTLY from the text book, so that's how you're going to study anyway. I guess that's the one positive about her...you can skip.
Easily the worst teacher I have ever had at UD. I adore nutrition, but I dreaded going to this class everyday, which had mandatory attendance. Literally reads off of her slides and is completely useless when asking her questions.
Easily the worst professor I have ever had at UD. She is very smart, but can not teach whatsoever. She is impossible to understand, most of the time I find myself trying to comprehend what she says rather than take notes. Don't frustrate yourself by taking any of her classes, trust me.
Whatever you do, avoid taking this teacher. For one, she doesn't even answer your emails, even if its for help with understanding the material. Second, I don't even think she understands her own material; she's always stuttering and having to look at her notes. Overall, shes very unhelpful, and doesn't even know her own stuff.
She's very unhelpful, does not answer emails, doesn't want to get to know any of her students, and worst of all, she makes alot of mistakes with her grading. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS, I hope she reads these comments so she knows how bad she is.
If possible take another professor or the online course. Going in I expected this to be an easy group d req but it wasn't. The test were always a challenge. The professor didn't seem to know her material well enough. Sometimes she seemed oblivious. therefore I would recommend taking another professor for ntdt...it is also a lot of information to kn
Horrible teacher overall. Not easy to get a hold of even if it's something very crucial. The "what you should know" does not cover test material at all. Classes are extremely boring, she is hard to understand and pay attention to. The only helpful class is when the TA teaches.
Very boring class; she is very boring and not interesting. I rarely went to class..she lectures entire period off of her power points, which are posted on sakai. I just read textbook and made sure I knew info on slides. I Didn't like this class, but better than taking some of the other sciences.
she is so boring. i had to force myself to go to class because all she does is read off of her power point slide. its an easy class if you read all of the readings and have a basic knowledge of them. however it is much easier if taken with a different professor
Ok so basically if you are interested in nutrition, do not take this class with her. She seems like a nice lady, just a bad teacher. It is extremely hard to pay attention in class. She reads right from the powerpoint slides and finds it hard to answer questions. I do not wish to offend her, but taking her class was a waste of time for me.
Professor Setiloane is an awful teacher. She reads directly from the slides and her class was the most boring one ever. She gave the occasional worksheet, but really her class consisted of her reading of her slides which she posts online anyway. I did not learn anything even though I attended class and the tests were hard.
Horrible. Seems like a nice enough lady, but she reads directly from the slides and seems completely unsure of what she's saying. Her "need to know" sheets are completely useless. Tests are impossible. I went to every class& studied the book, her "need to know sheets" and powerpoints, and got 70's. Class is VERY boring and she posts notes on Sakai.
Don't take this class! She seems like a nice lady, but all she does is read directly from her powerpoints, which don't make sense anyways. The worksheets she gives out are useless. I attended every class, read the book, and studied the "Need to know" sheets she gave out and still did HORRIBLY on the tests. They are impossible.
I'm very sad to hear that she has gotten such horrible reviews. I found her to be a teacher who is more than willing to help her students and she uses her powerpoints, she doesn't read from them. If you listen to her and write down what she says you'll get an A. The book is also helpful. She's very nice and has a great accent that is easy listening
seems like a nice lady but her exams are impossible. she drops the lowest of your 3 exams and there is a 100 point project. not an easy A
reads straight off her slides, TERRIBLE TEACHER. do not take. Tests are IMPOSSIBLE, "what you should know" study guides DO NOT help on tests. dietary analysis time consuming but helps grade. gives assignments in class to take attendance. TERRIBLE at teaching the difficult material. you can learn material better reading the book yourself.
DO NOT TAKE HER She is disorganized, reads straight from her powerpoints and doesn't know the material. If you ask her a question she will give you an answer completely different from what you asked. You will have to teach yourself the material on you own by reading the book and taking notes.4 multiplechoice tests that aren't bad if you read the book
She is a HORRIBLE teacher! Not understanding at all. Doesn't allow make-ups for anything. Copies slides from the text book and reads straight from the slides every class. You'll need to read the entire text book to pass this class....
DO NOT TAKE HER. possibly the worst teacher I have ever taken. She takes her powerpoint slides right out of the book. She does not really help you in terms of what will be on the tests. Whether you study for the tests or not... you will fail. The only thing that will save your grade is the diet analysis project. I hated her.
She is the worst possible teacher you can get. I emailed her three times trying to get help in the class, and she will not respond to any of them. Her tests are practically impossible, and class is a joke. The only reason you go to class, is because she gives out assignments to check for attendance. Please, for you interest do not take her.
Dr. Setiloane is a very straight forward teacher. She teaches from power point slides and her lectures. This class is definitely not impossible, I ended up with a B+ and barely had any background knowledge. Bottom line, You HAVE to read the textbook, every chapter she covers. She gets all her questions from the textbook for exams
This class is definitely hard, but with any class you get what you put into it. This isn't one of those classes where you can skip and expect to get an A. Go to every class, read every chapter, study for every test and you'll be fine. And I wouldn't suggest bringing a laptop to this class, it's easy enough to get distracted.
Worst professor ever. Switch out of this class, I wish I had. The exams were really hard and she did not teach the material on the exams. Class was extremely boring power points. Somehow managed to get a B in the class.
If I could do it again I would drop her class. The class itself was boring. It is a science based class so be prepared to learn about the science part of nutrition such as hyrdogen bonds ect. Her tests were multiple choice. A lot of the questions were obscure. Bottom line take Geology for your science requirement, not nutrition
Easiest class ever! She is so sweet and very flexible with work. Easy A if you need to take one.
Dr. Setiloane's class is so easy! It is almost impossible not to get an A. She has 4 exams (with information coming straight from the lectures and book and she dropped the lowest exam score. There are lots of small assignments that help boost your grade and she gives extra credit opportunities. She's so sweet and really loves what she teaches!
This class used to be easy and now its not. The exams are very detailed and attendance is mandatory. She is extremely particular on what she wants but doesn't fully explain what she actually wants. Not an east "A" anymore
Her teaching skill is b/w low and moderate but her class is STILL WORTH TAKING! If you remember her Powerpoints, you are guaranteed to get a 90+ on each test! This class is an Easy A b/c there's other easy ways to boost your grade! Her lectures (Powerpoints) are pointless so be prepared to do other homework or just take notes.
Save urself the misery of this class if you can! While the material is common knowledge her ambiguous canvas assignments (which she neglects to inform you ab besides saying "check canvas" as you're walking out the door) will CRUSH ur grade if you don't hand them in on time. This seems easy except she assigns the most random due times like Sat @3pm!
The content of this class isn't difficult, especially if you've taken public health. The professor is not awesome at communication - she takes several days to respond to email, assignments are assigned to canvas without her telling the class there was homework. Exams are relatively straightforward if you read the textbook and PowerPoint slides.
By far the worst professor and class. She reads off the slides and sounds very unknowledgeable, I learned nothing in the class. Lectures consist of basic concepts about health, but exams are about the smallest, most irrelevant of details. Study her slides and you'll at least get a B in the course. Need a GPA boost or easy course, take it.
It's an easy class. However, she is a great teacher. I kinda feel like I'm back in elementary school. Take this course, she's really a gem.
She was caring and passionate about the subject. The assignments were clear and easy. Loved her!!
The class wasn't that hard but this professor was horrible. Most of the time she didn't know what she was talking about, once she asked us how many letters were in the alphabet. One of the exam grades is dropped so the grade in the class is made up of one project 3 exams and a few other small assignments. I studied for the exams by reading the book
By far the worst class I've ever taken in UDel. She is not clear about what she is rendering in the UDcapture. Every piece of knowledge is thrown chaotically without an order. As an intro class, she expects you to recite all the names of the nutrients/the diseases, the effects and the calculations. Insane course load and horrible grading standard.
Loved her! Go to her office hours and you will really see a difference in your grade, she tries to help you understand the topics while you are there.
Class is an easy A/A-. If you study from the book you'll do fine. Tests are not challenging and the other assignments throughout the year are small and do not take up much time.
have no idea why she has such a low rating. shes so nice and understanding, and the tests are extremely easy if you study her slides (i never read the textbook and get 90s on the test & studied night b4 ). also theres never hw. only annoying thing is she doesnt always say when she puts a new hw assignment on canvas so u have to check like everyday
I was nervous to take her after reading the reviews here, but she really wasn't that bad. The exams are crazy specific and questions are confusing but there are so many other opportunities to earn points. She drops the lowest test score, attendance helps ur grade a lot and she usually give full credit on other assignments. Not hard to get a B.
Took online over winter. Her online lectures were useless, so I stopped watching them and just memorized the textbook myself and did really well that way. Have to study a lot, but doable. A lot of her exam and quiz questions were either incorrect or ambiguous - I got points back by going to her office. But she's very slow to reply to emails.
This class was very unorganized. She is a nice person and the assignments are easy. The group project was a pain, but the final was a reflection paper which was so easy. This class is an easy grade if you do the work
I went to every class and still only got a B-. I would not recommend professor Setiloane. She is a nice person, but she is not a good teacher at all. Save your money and take it to a teacher who doesn't just read right out of the textbook and doesn't even understand what she is teaching.
I am unsure why she has such low ratings, but I absolutely loved her. Because of COVID I turned in multiple assignments late but she always gave full credit - she was very understanding that students have lives outside of school and was super accommodating. The exams were easy as long as you have studied the slides a bit.
I had her for an asynchronous class. She was very clear in her expectations and the course material was pretty easy. I even missed a testing period and she let me take it the next day with a few points off for being late, which was fair. She provided plenty of learning material for an asynchronous course.
Only meet in person one day a week (the other day we have an easy and async assignment, occasional quiz). When we meet, she reads directly off the presentation and has us watch a video. Doesn't have a clue about what she is supposedly teaching. Attendance is mandatory, grading is confusing and tests are hard but online. Grades for hw are weird.
Professor Setiloane, is very kind however her teaching style is very lackluster and inconsistent. You attend once a week with another day asynchronous which you have reading and some quizzes. She reads from slides that come out of the textbook and you essentially teach yourself. Her grading system is weird and gives very odd point amounts.
Assignments count for 40% of the overall grade, and there are VERY few. If you miss even one it can really hurt your grade. Class consists of her reading straight from a slideshow and then playing a video. Difficult to reach outside of class via email. Overall not terrible but if you miss or do bad on an assignment or test you will ruin your grade
NTDT301 aka HBNS300. Does not relate the course information to nutrition IN ANY WAY. Reads straight off dense slides full of vague, random facts. Often unable to pronounce cultural words/surprised by her own info. Study guides= titles of her slideshows. Tests on up to 160 slides worth of info. Cancels class often. HORRIBLE PROFESSOR. WASTE OF TIME.
Cancels class a lot. Assigns homework that is due on random days and does not give a warning that something will be assigned. Takes forever to grade and when she does she grades harshly. Lectures are usually off topic and often doesnt relate anything back healthcare professions. Exams are also random questions and will focus on one video we watch
Very nice, but class seems so unorganized. Class is cancelled every or every other week which makes it difficult to understand whats even going on. Also she's just one of those professors who just looks to take points off on assignments.
Class constantly canceled, but OUR attendance is a major portion of grade?! Exams for a conceptual class are 50-question scantrons feat. info that was mentioned in passing. Trivial exams that do not relate to cultural awareness at all. I did not learn anything I did not already know. very sweet lady, very bad professor.
Her exams are very specific and test you on tedious details that are within her slideshows. The slideshows that she presents in class are super dense and she is just reading off of them. She doesn't actually know what she is teaching and is not consistent at all. She cancels class very often. I would not recommend her at all.
Please don't take this class. She is so specific about what she wants you to submit that she'll deduct points for anything she can, while also grading things slowly and infrequently. She doesn't really know what she's talking about and talks more about herself in most lectures. Exams didn't really match the curriculum and weighed heavily.
Very sweet lady, horrible professor, assignments are very reading heavy just to be worth barely any points and only spoken about for 30 min in class. Exams are about are worth hella points and are just based on random slides.
Dr. Setiloane is a very nice person but a horrible professor. She is very inconsistent when grading assignments and gives meaningless feedback. It's like she is looking to take off points. She also takes forever to grade everything so you never really know what you have in the class.
