Kella is one of the best teachers ive ever had. She makes class fun, and she is a very easy going person, and very personable. I could be friends with her.
Awesome.
Kella is the best English teacher I've ever come accross. She acutally makes English enjoyable and intresting. Cracks good jokes, is very genuine and always makes herself availble if you need help. She is AWSOME.
Kella made class material accessible and relevant. Her deep knowledge, clear instruction, and friendly demeanor provided a truly thought-provoking and enjoyable experience. Unlike some instructors, Kella doesn’t make students jump through hoops to get a decent grade. The work made sense and was reasonably easy to manage.
kella, is one of the nicest teachers I have ever seen, patient, easygoing, knowledgeable, understanding, respectful and VERY HELPFULL too. As far as her teaching style on the difficult topics, I would expect more explanations from “her” instead of the feedbacks from students which she heavily refers to; but overall good.
Very energetic at 8:00AM in the morning. It's like learning from a close friend instead of a teacher. If her jokes don't wake you up, her clothes will. Every other day she'll wear something with a trippy psychedelic print. Come to class sober or you'll get lost in her dresses. Fantastic teacher, but don't show up late to class often either.
Great and funny teacher. There are about 6 essays total. Awesome.
Kella, Kella, Kella. She's extremely engergetic. You don't hafta go to class, but you should, cuz she does keep attendace for part of your grade. The class is pretty easy. Read an essay or two and then answers like 4 questions either at home or in a group in class. 4 essays, and an in-class essay for the midterm and final. Her essays are somewhat h
Excellent teacher!!
The best English teacher I ever had. She is knowledge, easygoing, and extremely helpful. Let her proof read your paper, you should get A. Never plagiarize, she will catch you since she does research online.
her class is boring as usual.
6 essays, 2 in class w/ plenty of info to prepare. Some homework. Lots of reading. Requires a lot of time/work, but was easy. Makes an effort to pick topics that are stimulating. Don't dare disrespect her or get lazy! Would reccomend
Kella is an alright teacher. She's my least favorite of all the english teachers i've had at foothill. she's intimidating, loud, and sort of obnoxious. Plus she calls on people randomly and makes you feel stupid if you don't know the answer. I couldn't tell you what i've learned and there's only 4 more weeks of class. Not recommended.
Great Instructor.
Great teacher, she is very helpful and it is a very easy A... if you do all your essays and she chooses very interesting books. not boring at all. very laid back
What a joy to have this teacher as my professor. She was so stimulating, and I enjoyed her class immensely. The amount of work is average, but she is very fair.
topics very interesting and worth while. lots of essays, no silly tests. willing to help. too much peer review not enough from her. LOVED her novel choice. personality is spunky & fun. go to class & pay attention. she'll get nasty to you if you don't ive seen it happen - DONT DARE FALL ASLEEP IN CLASS (unless for the entertainment of others-HA!)
She's super hard. Over grades and looks at everything. Not fun and talks way to much. I didn't get anything out of her class. I hated being in that room with her
Basic college level writing, not too demanding. She states clearly what she wants, just had to follow her instructions. Get on her good side by showing up on time, to all classes, and by doing all the homework. Comparatively small workload. Midterm and final are open-book/notes. Novels and poems, not very demanding. Got an A as an ESL student.
She is SOOOOO COOL! Really helpful, INTRESTING, and FUN. I don't even really like English and I have always been really bad at it and this class was great. If you have the chance, you should try and get her.
The best English professor at Foothill!! Her classes are interesting, and you will never get bored. She gives her instructions clearly. Thus, follow her rules then you will be fine. And you better attend her classes and finish the homework because she does count the attendant and participation.
Lets just say that Kella accused our whole class of cheating, stressing everyone out...including myself who ended up getting a B+ on my paper. If you're a cheater DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS SHE WILL GET YOU! She caught two people cheating and made a whole scene about it. I don't know why she gets such good ratings. She's kind of nuts.
Respectful listener/excellent feedback. Does not micromanage writing process. Encourages non-formulaic style - so long as it meets criteria. Clear with objectives. Great texts + academic guidance = stimulating learning. Kind, patient, cool.
Dr. Svetich is a wonderful professor - how fortunate for that she puts so much into her profession. Quelle bonne chance for us students. She will make you work, you won't always agree with her. I learned alot. Merci, merci, Dr. Kella!
Very smart- she knows her stuff. She's also full of energy (in a good way, not over-the-top bouncy or anything). Best English teacher I've had in a while.
I suggest taking Dr. Svetich! She's super energetic and tries her best to make the class enjoyable. Her essay prompts are extremely clear and straight to the point. She's a fair grader as well! She's kind and makes participating easy as she does not look down on you for your comments. Dr. Svetich encourages you to learn and succeed! highlyrecommend
Svetich is an excellent english professor! Her lessons are interesting and really helpful. Easy grader and kind to students. For those who likes to skip classes, dont take her! Overall, she is one of the best english professor in Foothill!
This teacher is ridiculous. She acts as if everyone is only taking her class and no others, she assigns tons of homework, grades really hard without explanation of grading and judges her students immensley. There is no reasoning with her, she is a brick wall. I have never regretted taking a class more than this one. Good luck!
Kella is just a little bit crazy. Shes nice and a pretty good teacher. Make sure you show up - she notices. Modernism and close reading aren't really my thing but she does as well as anyone can with them.
Dr. Svetich is a tough but great teacher. She is fun, very helpful outside of class and really tries to get the class to participate. Not a class for slackers, cutters, or wallflowers. All the negative reviews are obviously from people who don't like to do their work, and want to slack off and not participate. She's my fav at the school
I took her gay and lesbian lit class. Though it'd be fun and enjoyable. Well some of the readings are great but a large portion was boring. The worst thing about her is that she turned the class into a sort of political thing
Kella was a great instructor. She made all her instructions very clear and was great at helping the class analyze texts or find material to put into our essays. I recommend that you use her office hours as well as the writing center for your essays. I never did really well in english until this class. Thanks kella!
Svetich is an amazing teacher and clearly outlines what she wants from her students. She is very helpful and there is no busy work in her class, all essays you read go into writing your essays. Highly recommend her, but make sure you start your essays early. Class is not easy, but is very useful.
Kella is a great teacher. She appears tough and strict at first, but really she is just a fun person to listen to. She may act a little childish sometimes, but I think it makes the class dynamic more interesting. She leads some interesting discussions and I honestly think she is one of the best teachers at this school.
she is funny and nice. She is a good friend but not a good teacher. Easy to get a B.
she is a funny and helpful teacher. She may be strict in the beginning but that's the way to make you learn. Go to the writing so that you can earn credit for that. I got an A-.
Kella is knowledgeable about her subject matter, but her "stream of consciousness" lecture style makes her class frustrating. Her interpretive lens is equally as frustrating, given she neither gives a clear account of it nor is it a framework most student are familiar with.
Kella really pays attention to students that show up to class & are engaged. She is a feminist & definitely lets you know that. It is easy to get a B but pushing for that A isn't all that easy. Overall she is energetic & interesting.
Didn't really teach much, kinda just rambled about the Philippines and sex the whole time. Kind of uptight about attendance when she herself was almost always late. Only 1 essay in the 1st 6 weeks and then crammed 3 essays into the last 6 weeks... you be the judge.
She is a really great teacher! Definitely not as easy class though, I worked by butt off and barely got an A. This is an honors course so attendence is mandatory, and there are a lot of essay/homework... However, I absolutely loved her as a teacher, with a sense of humor. She may make you feel overwhelmed, and at first she seemed mean but you warm
Kella is extremely funny and has a spunky personality which helps keep me involved and interested during class. She knows a lot about teaching and english and she does a good job of making sure everyone is on the same page. Wonderful, exciting, quirky professor :]
Yes, her style is "stream of consciousness" but it is kind of what is required to get the students with not analytical thinking skills. . .well, thinking! She is very intelligent you can learn a lot form her if you pay attention. Fair in grading and assignment collection. After 10 years of not writing college papers - an easy B had to work for an A
Kella can be described as a proto-hipster feminist. Her class isn't bad, just unstructured, which is very different. It is easy to get a good grade in this class if you do the reading. However, she isn't very open of literary interpretations that don't mesh with her own, so the best thing to do is to regurgitate her analyses onto paper during exams
her classes are interesting and her personality also affects the mood of the class in a good way. Easy B but hard to get an A
Kella is a really good instructor. Kept me interested in english throughout the quarter. Not a hard class if you attend class and not sleep. She makes sure you dont procrastinate by having rough drafts due, and if you keep up with the work, you'll be certain to end up with an A.
No essay reviews before midterm, so midterm essay shows nothing improved or learned in writing. Literature is not for enjoying them but for rushing to answer questions she assigns every week. No discussion at all about them. Just her short analysis on them were given later.
Took her online English 1B course, and was very pleased. The readings were interesting, and even though at first there is a lot of reading and homework, the workload eases towards the end of the quarter. The essays are all around 1250 words which is very fair. You get to watch movies as a basis for some of the essays. She is a very easy grader also
Her printouts state not to summarize in the conclusion. However, in her sample essay, clearly all the author does is summarize what he or she wrote. Her sample essay has two separate thesis statements for each literary work mentioned, failing to provide a single thesis for the paper as a whole. This teacher assigns B's to well thought out essays.
I found her to be very organized which is great. The workload was extensive but its HONORS. 4 papers 1250-1500 words plus in class essays and hw questions. Final and midterm are in class essays on prompts. She's very specific on how she wants you to write so as long as you listen and follow her instructions you'll do fine! I recommend her!
She is a great teacher!! She is kinda funny and very helpful, I love the good mood she brings to class :) You have opportunities to miss class, and to turn an essay late with no penalty. English is not my best subject, but I did well!
Kella is the worst online instructor I have encountered at Foothill. She offered very little feedback on essays. She did not teach at all or facilitate meaningful discussions. She made many mistakes in posting incorrect assignments, and not following through with the class format as laid out in the syllabus. Extremely disappointing class.
I love Kella! You really do need to work to get an A, though. No slacking! She emphasizes using specific language in your writing. Use feedback from your first essays to not make the same mistakes again! Also, always see her in office hours to review drafts/outlines. My only critique is that some of the novels were bleh.
She is an amazing online teacher and is always there for any questions. If you ask questions, she will HELP you. BUT you have to ask the questions or she can't help you. She has taught me so much of my own style of writing and how to be articulate with words and get to the point.
Really liked Kella's class. Helpful professor with good feedback. Helped me with my thesis statements. Organized and easy to follow online class format.
I took English 1B online, which I was hesitant at first. It was a pretty easy A. She's not a tough grader but of course, there are a few essays to be written. I didn't learn too much but it fulfilled my English requirement. I would recommend if you are interested in online classes.
Kella is a very good teacher and She knows what she does. I could get an (A) from this class although I was an ESL student. Thanks Kella :)
Kella is a great teacher, I have a tough time writing essays and have never been the best at English but she makes it fun and clear what she wants. I would totally take her again if I needed more English classes!
It is easy to get a good grade! Kella does not assign too much reading and posts. I took this class on-line and did not spend a lot of time for it. I think, Kella is the best professor if you need just to have a good grad and do not want to spend a lot of efforts!
Great teacher! She is intertaining and kinda weird. Her class was pretty easy, she gives the class notes for the essays. Sometimes also gives an outline for writing essays. If you put in the work, it is an easy A.
I highly recommend taking this class with Professor Svetich! One of the most fun classes I've taken, to be honest. I loved the reading material and she is super helpful and friendly. I wish there were more classes like this at Foothill. Wish the class was longer!
took childrens lit online w her & it was really fun! readings are fun, quizzes are straight forward, & her lectures are easy to listen to. post 5 discussions each week and take a quiz about the reading. A midterm essay & final essay. my 1 complaint is she doesn't respond AT ALL. Ive emailed and pm'd her 3 diff times throughout quarter& no response
Kella is a nice teacher, she's funny during her lectures, is an easy grader for sure. You must read the books and write essays bur beyond that there is not much to do. She does quizzes sometimes about the reading but they're super easy. I'm glad I took her but she is a little bit irresponsible. Sometimes she'd forget things or be late to grade.
She's the best. Shes funny and helpful. Totally recommend her. There are a lotttt of essay's but she tries her best to make it possible for us to do.
Really easy to get a good grade in this class! As long as you keep up with the reading and write a decent essay you should be fine. Did not spend too much time on this class and did essays last minute and still pulled out a good grade. If you want to get a good grade take this class, shes a very easy grader. Didn't learn too much but thats just me.
took this online in the summer. pretty straight forward easy class. she has great online lectures to go with the reading material. really clear instructions. about an essay a week with 5 short discussion posts. two multiple choice exams with essay portions. the books were alright, i recommend this class if you want to just get it over with.
Took her for spring quarter. Really easy class! Don't expect to just breeze through it to get an A, though. She's an easy grader on your 4-5 essays ( I did mine last minute and got good grades) and make sure to do the forum posts and weekly quizzes as well, points add up in her class. Her extra credit bumped me from a B+ to an A- as well. Take her!
She's smart but a bit condescending. She goes off topic sometimes. Being on time is a big deal to her, even though she's late most of the time. If you take her, GOOD LUCK! You will need a lot of patience with this one.
Very condescending. A lot of work. Do not recommend.
Her sense of humor is indescribable she's very quirky. Really enjoyed th class the work load is very manageable especially the assigned readings. Overall a good expirence.
She was pretty awesome online. Tests non-cumulative. I actually skipped the 2nd test because she gives us that option, so only takes 2 of the 3 tests. She's a tough grader for the essay assignments but the discussions are SUPER easy, and worth a lot of points. Quizzes r not timed and tests are easy w/ an essay. 4 essay assignments. Short lectures 2
Prof Svetich is honestly an awesome English professor. Her class wasn't necessarily easy, but she is patient and really works with you so you get a good grade. I definitely recommend utilizing her office hours and TLC time. The books we read are interesting. Take notes on what is said in class because you can usually use the info in your essays!
My own personal experience with Kella was very good. I got an A in the class, whereas in Eng 1a (not even honors) I got a B. For other students, their experience was not so good. Many students, which I read their work in peer reviews (and I thought was equivalent to mine), received C's or B's on their papers. She definitely picks favorites. Beware!
I believe professor Svetich's class is the EASIEST among all other english 1B classes. She only gave us 2 books (really thin) for the whole quarter while other classes require 3-5. She's really friendly. Sometimes she jokes and gets the class awkward but I guess it's ok... she is very strict in being on time
I enjoyed the class. Quizzes are pretty easy if you read the book (multiple choice). Essay midterm and final. Overall; I thought it was an easy class for the summer. There are weekly discussion questions- straight forward class-NO surprises.
BEWARE: a bit of a slow grader, but an easy grader! About 300 words due every Sunday, requires a few books but they're all excellent and controversial. If you don't mind this, it should be a pretty easy course for you.
The material assigned to us to read was interesting. You must read 4 books. You must do a 300 word post every week on what was assigned to read. We were assigned a total of 3 essays. As long as you do the work, you will have a good grade.
Great and passionate teacher. She gets so excited about the material we read that it makes the class much more fun for everyone. She is a fair grader for papers.
I'm taking her English 1A for this quarter, basically one or two readings every week which is not that heavy. And you need to submit a response discussion regarding the materials you read for the week, probably 300-400 words. Two formal essays, and midterm and final. a little bit slow grader, nor sure if she is an easy grader for essays.
I took her English 1B online class. She was very unorganized. The midterm did not work when I first opened it and she did not reply to my email. Also, she claims to give the essay prompt on Mondays as they are due the following Monday, but was not there when I checked it every Monday. Her midterm and finals are timed essays, three formal essays.
Kella is such a great professor. She gives great feedback on essays, so if you follow what she says you're pretty much guaranteed a good grade. She's really passionate and definitely cares about her students. Would take her again in a heartbeat, given the chance.
Probably an excellent in-person teacher, but online she doesn't teach. If you want credit without much learning, and you already know how to write, take the class credit/no credit, do the work. She will answer emails, but she is Very slow to grade and gives Absolutely NO Feedback. How she arrives at scores and what you do wrong --- a mystery.
She's hard yo.
lol ngl this class was a lot harder than I thought. Really light on the hw, its easy pointers but harsh essay grader for sure!! Her feedback is always vague. She said things like thesis could be better if you dont generalize but doesnt tell you exactly what you need to stop generalizing??
Interesting teacher, but can be pretty vague at times. She wants you to write differently than pretty much any other course, which is not really a bad thing since it makes your writing less dull. The readings are very well selected, and homework is very minimal. Feedback can be unclear unless you ask her in person. Not a terribly tough grader.
Don't take this class online if you have the option, the class itself isn't awful but she isn't very responsive. Grades your essays on her own criteria (not listed), only gives prompts and you figure out the rest on your own. 1 discussion post a week and 3 formal essays, a midterm, and a final essay. The books assigned are interesting.
Even during the summer, this class was very manageable with 2 papers, weekly discussions, and a final. I got to revisit some of my childhood favorites while gaining a lot of interesting insight that ties to the real world. This is the most straightforward and enjoyable class I've taken so far--just do the readings and the work by the deadlines.
Kella is basically a free spirited whimsical fairy that for some reason decided to become an English teacher. While Kella is extremely intelligent and gives great feedback, she gets distracted extremely easily. If you are looking to take a class that is easy and slow paced this is the one for you. She often dilly dallies around the topics.
She's a very nice teacher, helpful and pretty cool. I would encourage you to take her because she's the best English teacher I'v had.
Kella is sweet and nice, she goes by her syllabus. She is a little tough on her grading, especially if you're in English 1B she expects more from your writing, the books she chooses are interesting and easy to write about. But know your grammar and vocabulary, she gives you very good feedback.
Speaking for English1BH. Kella talks mostly off topic in class. Pace is slow, sometimes unclear. Class assignments appear to be made up the same day due to a lot of disorganization and confusion. Books are interesting. Syllabus changes constantly. We never know what to expect for the class day which I find unmotivating and frustrating.
Kella is such an amazing professor! The books she picks for the essays are never boring, and the class discussions we have based on the book are even better. The in class discussions are always so engaging and they really help you when writing your essays. This class was a bit difficult, however it's an honors class so it's to be expected
Kella is a great teacher! She is very in tune with the class. She chose entertaining, shorter reading materials and gave good feedback on our essays. 10/10 would recommend.
Reading and coursework is consistent week by week. Take her class!
Such a great and fun teacher. Really inspired my decision to major in English. The class was pretty straightforward, 5 essays in total 3 out of class and then midterm and final. 3 out of class counted for 30% while the other 2 combined were 20%. Just put your best foot forward and try and you'll pass.
One of the best classes I've taken period.
One of the best classes I've taken. The class syllabus is lenient and Kella gives great feedback on your work. The lectures are really fun and engaging as well.
I enjoyed the class overall. I feel my writing has improved. Each week we read 1-2 essays and wrote a short 300-word response. We also had 3 main essays which were fine as long as you did the readings. No books needed, she provides all the readings online. A solid choice for an English professor.
AMAZING PROFESSOR! If you need to take any English class at foothill take your class with her! Super great at giving clear expectations which are fairly easy to follow. She gives good feedback and presents a lot of interesting material for the class.
Loved being in her class! She gives helpful feedback on response papers and essays. Her workload will not overwhelm you.
Really amazing professor. Super understanding and caring about her students. Svetich provides really good feedback and does respond to emails pretty quickly. One discussion post a week of 300 words, two essays, and a final. Such a fun class and the content was very interesting!
Professor Svetich was so amazing. Not only did she actually care for her students, but the work and readings are actually interesting. You do have a lot of writing assignments but everything is manageable, I mean it is an English class. You have one assignment to turn in weekly, not including the essays. Take her class! You will not regret it.
You must write a lot, but Pr. Kella grades very generously. Most of the work is graded for participation (except for essays), so it is easy A if you use extra credit and do all the assignments. Just plan accordingly, and you'll be fine.
Kella was a super sweet professor who cared a lot about students and gave constructive feedback. I took her for engl 1AH in my first quarter at foothill and it was a great transition from high school to an honors course. She was always accessible outside of class and gave great feedback. Highly recommend!
I dunno man, she was good at first and I initially enjoyed the class but she assigns the same dang stories over and OVER, she once even made us write a 700 word essay on a 300 word short story. Easy A, and if you're doing it for GE, easy credit, if you wanna actually learn to engage in thoughtful discussion, you're looking in the wrong place imo.
Took this class Fall of 2020, loved it! I learned a lot from the materials provided, things I still think about all the time. Short stories, movies, poems, song lyrics - a good variety of reading material to think critically about. Received grades back in a timely manner. If you already have experience in writing, this class will be easier for you.
she is amazing
The class is fine. There is one assignment due per week besides the essays, and If you're a decent writer you'll pass with no problem. The only problem I experienced was that I was moving during the time I took her class. I tried to reach out to her about my missing/late work so we could make a plan, but she never got back to me.
This class was super straightforward. You have small discussion boards due every Sunday. Three essays and two timed essays for the mid-term and final. You will need to purchase only one novel, while the rest is on the lecture modules. The professor grades tough on the essays, but the rest of the assignments are graded for effort and completion.
This was my second class taken from this Professor and I really appreciate her lack of fluff in her courses and the material she exposes her students to. I always walk away inspired and changed. She isn't overdemanding or overburdening with assignments and directions are clear. The lack of stress around coursework makes it enjoyable.
Dr. Svetich is a really good teacher. She is able to make you understand writing concepts well. She is able to make good connections and takes explaining the writing process at a good pace. I thoroughly enjoyed her class.
DOESNT TEACH
If you want to improve, don't take her class but if you just wanna pass than take it. It is one discussion 300 word discussion post on a linked article per week as well as a 100 word response. There is an essay every blue moon. Doesn't teach though and feedback is more melodical than helpful but grades mostly on participation.
I really want Kelly to see this: YOUR CLASS IS TRASH
I took her for 1A and 1B only because she was the easiest A. However, she does not teach and I felt as though her essay prompts were often so unclear. Also, for some reason she has our grades locked so we cant even see our progress. Take her if you want an easy pass but prepared to be frustrated.
Like others have mentioned, it's an easy A if you do the writing, but the prompts can often times be EXREMELY unclear! I honestly think the final was an April Fools joke, or trying to make a point for any students who used Chat GPT that semester... it was weird. You can tell she cares about what she teaches though, so I personally didnt mind class
Prompts unclear. Difficult to communicate with.
This class doesn't have many assignments to do but heavily on the essay. I have a hard time of getting to understanding the rubric. She is also a tough grader on the essay so be sure to put your effort and clear essay structures when submitting. She is also a bit hard to communicate with but provides a high extra credit by visiting the tutoring.
Most class days are just rambling, I didn't learn much, but this class is an easy A. The teacher is not very organized, which caused 1 essay due in the first half of the class and the other 3 essays to be due in the last half of the class. She is willing to work with students, but it is easy to tell if she likes you or not.
The essays literally have no prompt. At all. So confusing
Unfortunately because of late registration, I had to take her class against my better judgment. 1. Dr. Svetich, you are incredibly condescending in your tone addressing students. very unapproachable. 2. Feedback on essay #1 should be available before the Midterm. not after! 3. The stories are the BEST I've ever read in any English class.
She blamed 1/3 of the class for completely using AI, thereby giving them zeroes. Blamed another 1/3 of the class for using AI to some extent and marked their essays down. Unsupportive, rude, and toxic. SHE DIDN'T USE AN AI CHECKER OR ANY OUTSIDE SOURCE TO VALIDATE HER BASELESS CLAIMS OF PLAGIARISM.
I would recommend kella 10/10, never had this much fun in any class before.
She fails to communicate with her students even after I have sent multiple emails about my assignments. Four separate messages asking her to follow up on my assignment and she ignored all of them. Accuses students of using AI without any logical reason or explanation for her actions. Zero care for her students or anyone other than herself.
She is a great teacher if you get to know her, but she appears to be burnt out from teaching, and the asynch/online formats are not enjoyable to her at all. She is also extremely cautious of AI leading her to make false assumptions about students' works. The class is straightforward and relatively simple. I would recommend an in person format.
She claimed I used AI when I didn't and gave me 0s. I tried meeting with her on zoom to show my document history and explain my writing. She constantly interrupted and was extremely condescending. Said she would report the "plagiarism" to the student affairs office and I could talk to them. She never reported it so I had no chance to fight my case.
her course is mostly reading, she gave no lecture. I think how she graded her essays were lenient, there were two essays assigned one 1500 and one 1000 words. I wish the prompt could be more clear
Will accuse you of using AI without any proof besides her intuition. She also doesn't teach, there are absolutely ZERO lectures or module material. Only reading from the textbooks and assignments. Also extremely unclear essay prompts. You will learn nothing in this class but it's easy to pass if she doesn't accuse you of using AI
It felt overwhelming at times, given there was a lot of reading and writing every week. She doesn't release grades, so I didn't like that I couldn't keep up with my progress and didn't know how to get better. I think seeing your grades is important in knowing how and where to improve and she doesn't give very descriptive feedback.
This teacher did not actually teach anything. Each unit consisted of an assigned reading, a multiple-choice quiz, and a 300-word response to a question. There was absolutely no background on anything we read, no lecture nor any actual lesson on why we were reading these selections. We also received 0 feedback on our three essays for the year.
In her online async class, we had 3 different 1600-word essays, 3 different 750-word essays, and a weekly 400-word discussion post. Randomly gives 0's because she doesn't feel like grading. She doesn't post any grades for the entire course, you have no idea if you're passing or not. Don't take her!!!!
I could not recommend NOT taking her enough. Her class was awful. She gave 1000+ word essays every week and there was an insane amount of writing. She gave 0's on so many big assignments for not only me but so many other classmates. She accused the whole class of using AI even when AI had not been used, I wasted hours writing essays to get 0's.
This class wouldn't be able to teach you anything. This class wholly consists of watching "outdated" video material, reading and writing. The sbumitted essay only gets graded. There is no feedback for it. If you are experienced with Academic writing, this class is an easy A, but if you are not choose other class.
With unclear prompts and inconsistent grading, this class can be a challenge. But the stories are engaging, and using unstuckstudy alongside the textbook can help you navigate Professor Svetich's unique teaching style.
Keeps accusing me of using AI Every single essay she keeps saying I used AI But I've used no AI what so ever. Every essay I do she fails it just because she doesn't want to read it but I pass everything else besides essays? This class is unreal i would avoid this class at all cost.
This is possibly …. The worst teacher I've ever come across.
She's rude, and quick to give 0s. I've earned A's in all my other classes, but her course was a struggle and hurt my GPA. The workload was overwhelming. Grading was slow and delayed, with no feedback. She claimed she would respond to messages within 24 or 48 hours, but it took days to hear back.
She claims to respond within 48 hours, but she doesn't, and it will take a few days for you to hear back from her. This course only has very few videos to watch, you will learn nothing in videos, and writing a lot of essays without help will become the norm of the course. And she refused to release total grades and graded assignments very slowly.
She is very condescending and burnt out from teaching.
She is by far the worst professor I've had. There were no lectures, no textbook—just a handful of videos and papers at the start, which were unhelpful. She tends to give low grades. Honestly, it feels like she hates her job and her students. Do not take her class!!
Grading was super slow, and she refused to release total grades. She didn't give any feedback and didn't want to communicate at all. When she did reply, it was short, unhelpful, and confusing. She's stubborn, hard to talk to, and only trusts her own opinion. She grades harshly based on vague guesses or tiny details, always giving low scores.
No lectures and no books, but a ton of videos and papers to read at the beginning of this class. Expect to write a long essay every week. Grading is slow and don't expect to get any useful feedback if you get any feedback at all. Slow to respond to emails, releases weekly modules late, and hides the calculation of your grades.
Barely heard any feed back from her. When I did it was short and not helpful. She sends out emails crying about she has so many students, she should just quit teaching her attitude and her willingness to fail anyone that she doesn't agree with is honestly terrible. Terrible class. Terrible professor.
Avoid at all cost, if you don't want your gpa to take a hit AVOID!!!!!!
She seems unhappy about her job and burnt out. Maybe leave ? Instead of taking it out on your students who are trying to have a career ?
Be prepared to write a lot of essays , if she thinks you use a hence of Ai she will fail you even if you have proof and evidence for your essays she doesn't care. Her opinion is the only right one.
Not helpful at all.
First year in college and I've already had the worst teacher thanks Kella for the waste of time and the horrible attitude.
If this class is your last choice and you have no other choice. Still avoid her you'll thank me later.
Lack of patience lack of everything really.
Tough grader very hard in my opinion. Grades things very late and hides the final grade for some reason.
I've spent hours at night doing essays re reading them changing things over and over hours and hours just to get below 80 on my essays my mind can't comprehend how she grades anything
Started the class good with a great grade. The somehow I'm not sure what took a turn. But it did and I somehow ended up with a bad grade. Never again. Thanks
Typically doesn't respond to any emails. She says she will but never does goodluck to anyone that emails her
My mom works as an English teacher. She helped me with one of my essays. Got my grade back and the comment under it said I failed because I used AI.
I probably should have looked at these reviews before i took her glass
Lots of time wasted. Just for a bad grade.
I wish I could understand how or why I got the grade I did but she never responds
All assignments are turned in. Finished the class that's great but I failed. Worst teacher
Hides the final grade so you can't question it she always right no matter what
I struggled very badly in this course
Honest feed back is that she gives no feedback do with that what you want
I got to watch a few outdated and mildly irrelevant videos for the course. I received no written feedback on my writings. I cannot understand how she thinks this class design is going to help the students. I sincerely believe that she's being paid too much for the job she does.
Awful teacher. I have always excelled in English courses, she really made me feel like I was worthlessly stupid. She gave basically no feedback on anything, the feedback she did give was not constructive. If you're going to be a tough grader, at least give your reasoning for the harsh grade and let me know how I can improve.
The workload is honestly not bad, but the teacher is awful. I never felt like my writing was taken seriously, and she was very disrespectful and unprofessional most of the time. Tough grader and gave no feedback— how are we supposed to improve if we don't know what we're doing wrong, just that we're doing it wrong? RUN.
Gives no feedback , she's supposed to help you and your goals instead just seems like she just wants a paycheck and call it a day , she should find something she's passionate about if she doesn't want to teach anymore
I didn't receive any feedbacks on my work. I don't think that my work was taken seriously. She didn't respond to my email whole quarter.
I don't understand the negativity. Ive took 1AH and 1BH. She's chill. Requires a good amount of reading but has direct and clear expectations for assignments. I always received feedback. It's a basic GE class so she wants to see effort but you don't have to be Shakespeare. Im sure she gets tons of ChatGPT. Accepted late work and easy going.
I normally don't write reviews because Foothill Professors are great; however, Svetich accused me of using AI to write an assignment based solely on her personal judgment. She doesn't even use AI checkers to provide evidence. She dismissed everything I said and reported me for academic dishonesty. She's extremely toxic, wouldn't recommend.
Unfortunately, I found Kella Svetich's teaching style unconstructive. There was no feedback, and her grading felt subjective and inconsistent.

She is the worst instructor ever. Do not take her class. No matter how hard you work, she grades unfairly and gives no extra credit or make-up work. Feedback takes forever. Getting even a B feels impossible. I've always been an A+ student, but this class ruined everything. Avoid her class if you can. It's not worth it.
DO NOT TAKE HER.
This is hands down one of the worst instructors I've ever had. She's unorganized, unresponsive, and completely unfair. Her grading makes no sense, and you'll get no support or second chances. No extra credit, no makeup work, no care at all. It's like she wants students to fail. Avoid her class completely!
If you have no faith, find one you'll need it to survive her cruelty. She doesn't teach, she destroys. Your effort is invisible to her. She grades like your success offends her. Cold. Heartless. Humiliating. I walked in confident and left broken.
Do yourself a favor and avoid this one. Lectures were unorganized and boring, assignments unclear, and feedback nonexistent. When I asked questions, I got vague, unhelpful responses. Grading felt random, and I left the class knowing less than when I started.
She gives a lot of work but doesn't explain it.
I found parts of it challenging in ways that made it difficult to stay engaged and succeed.
I am glad that I dropped out of her course. Online lecture material isn't engaging at all and completely irrelevant and outdated. Very bad experience.

I cannot understand why our work isn't being graded after 2 or 3 weeks. How are we supposed to improve on the next assignments if we don't know what mistakes we've made or where we can improve
0//////10000000
very disappointing.
You will fail it
She should not be teaching anybody anything. Horrible feedback - pretty rude and not constructive at all. I was shocked. I have always been a skilled writer and have performed so well in all my other classes, I was even recommended to be an English tutor for the school by another prof. You'd never know that from how she graded my writing. Wild...
The grading in this class is unfair and lacks transparency. Work is returned weeks late with no feedback, making it impossible to improve. Students feel ignored and unsupported. This isn't teaching it's harming our future. We deserve fairness, timely feedback, and a teacher who cares whether we succeed or fail.
I do not recommend her.
Honestly, I can't understand how this person is even a teacher. No feedback, no communication, and grading is a mystery. It's like you're left hanging with no idea where you stand or how to improve. The lack of response makes it feel like they don't care about the students at all. Would not recommend.
If you're taking her class, you're setting yourself up for disaster
Worst professor I ever had in my life, completely waste of time I have to retake another English class in the Fall because of her. Does not give feedback AT ALL on all of my writing, I made a mistake on a quote and got a zero that made my grade from B+ to an F?? Avoid at all cost
Very unpleasant experience.
The least good teacher in my life.
READ!!! horrible in every way. There is no communication, no response, very harsh grader. I even took my essay to another professor, and she corrected every small mistake that could affect my grade. That prof even said I should have received an A, yet prof Kella still gave me a B-. No matter how much effort you put in, it never seems good enough.
