Dr. Black is an excellent teacher. She makes the subject interesting and will do everything she can to be clear and helpful.

If you are planning to take biology you have to take Dr. Black she has to be the best teacher i have ever had. She makes learning Biology fun and easy no other teachers i've had have compared to her. She is most definatly one of a kind.

Ignore all the naysayers about Dr. Black's exams. Microbiology is a hard subject! But she gives study guides and tells you everything you need to know for the tests. I had this class at UAB and let me tell you, Dr. Black does an excellent job of explaining the subject. You've just got to study like she tells you and ask questions.

Her test are really hard. She gives you lots of extra credits to make over ..but sometimes those points are not just enough. Don't listen to her when she says you will be fine don't worry about your grade else by the end of the semester you won't be happy with your grades.Study for every test and extra credit will also save you.u'll love her class

Dr. Black will keep you awake with her humor and enthusiasm. Don't get me wrong, you have to pay attention, but you will learn.

I LOVE Dr. Black! If you ever have to take Bio 220 or Bio 103, take Dr.Black! The material is hard but she teaches it in a way that you can understand and have fun at the same time. She is extreamly helpful and NEVER turns her back on you. She ALWAYS has such a positive attitude.And she will even help you for future classes too!

Love this prof! Reeealllly knows her stuff. VERY compassionate about student's concerns. Will bend over backwards if you WANT to succeed and learn! You have to work, though. Don't think of being lazy.

i would recommend this teacher to anyone! she is hilarious and keeps the room awake. tests are pretty hard tho. strictly teaches notes so no need for a bio book. she definitely wants you to pass and will try her best not to fail you.

Dr. Black is the best teacher on this planet as far as I am concerned. I don't think you will find a better person than Dr. Black.. period! She treats everybody exactly the same and she is real easy to talk to. Dr. Black is smart, but she's not arrogant or obnoxious. Micro is not an easy subject, but she makes it easy the way she explains it.

I don't really spend time rating teachers but I loved her class so much that I want to put in a good word. She is a fabulous teacher, as a matter of fact I have changed my major to biology because of her. I actually looked forward to her class. She is funny, outgoing, helpful, and she really knows what she is talking about!

Dr. Black is amazing! One of the best professors I've ever had. She is there to help most definitely. Test can be tough but If you study your good to go and she almost always practically gives you the answers on the test in lecture, so pay attention! If your nervous about taking Microbiology or Biology itself don't be, this is your go to Professor.

In 2001-2002, I had the great privilege of taking Introduction to Biology and Introduction to Microbiology from Dr. Black at Jefferson State Community College. Words alone can never convey the admiration and respect I will always have for Dr. Black. She made learning fun and was always there for feedback. She is truly an asset to the faculty. Mike

Dr Black is a great instructor! She keeps you entertained and she makes it easy to learn. She truly cares about her students and is accessible before and after class. There is no reason to fail this class! I made a lower than average grade because I did zero studying for the tests --my fault. I would take any of her courses again without question.

I have never had an instructor as effective in teaching as Dr. Black. She's intelligent, helpful, and she wants all of her students to succeed. It is not an easy class at all and she is very clear that she makes you work for it, but she knows what she is doing. As long as you study and pay attention in class, you will be fine.

Her class is the class to take definitely if you are not good in science or its not your fav subject . I passed with a high B and still don't know how, one of the easiest science classes I have ever taken.

LOVED her! She goes above and beyond to help you out and learn. She's great at being there for you when you need it and truly cares for you! Her lectures/labs are "old school" no powerpoint and is straight black board and paper. I wish I had her for everything I have to take! She gives weekly quizzes so you need to go to class!

The only bad thing I could say about Dr. Black is that after you take her class, youll never want any other teacher for a science class.

Dr. Black is always available to help with lab and lecture notes. Although attendance is not mandatory, missing her class can hurt your grade because she offers so much more in person. The class was difficult for me but it you put in the work studying the lecture notes and lab practical you will do well in class.

Her class is tough but she gives a ton of extra credit to make up for it. I got over 100 points of extra credit which let me just barely get an A. She actually cares about her students and it is genuinely a fun class. Bring her a Dr. Pepper and you'll be her favorite.

I wish I could just stay in her class forever. There is a lot of material covered in this class, but she makes it easy to understand. You have to study a lot but if you put in the effort, you will be just fine. This course may not be a prerequisite for other classes but it will DEFINITELY help you so TAKE IT ANYWAY! I took this class during my first semester of college outside of dual enrollment. I went into that class so scared and nervous, I came out with confidence and with amazing new friend in Dr. Black. She had to cancel some classes because of illness but she worked with us to make sure we knew the material and offered many bonus points. She's not a tough person, it's just a tough subject. It's been almost 25 years since I took her biology and microbiology classes at JSCC. I learned so much in those two semesters, things I never thought I was capable of learning.
