she is very approachable and understanding if you have problems in her class
As long as you read for the quizzes and put effort into your skit, you will get an A. Go to class though, she will sometimes ask you extra credit questions about in-class material, but sit in the back :)
In the first 10 minutes of class I knew she was arrogant, conceited, and unfriendly to people with a differing opinion.
Such a great prof. Always smiling and happy. Very eager to teach and to help students out whenever needed. Great recommendation writer! Get on her good side!
Boring and unorganized class!
She's ok
Ok, this is the ONLY class in 4 years which I have received less than an A. (I received an AB) She is WAY picky and doesn't explain what she expects. She loves to have group projects which really suck! Her fav. question is "Why is this significant?" Good luck if you get stuck with her!
Hard to get an A. Lots of group projects that arent to bad. If you actually want to learn how to write take the class. It does involve work though if you dont want to work go be a bum lol.
not bad
She was boring, and not a good prof.
Best professor I ever had; insightful and exciting. The only class I have never fallen asleep in. Changing my major because of her. Don't be a lazy idiot, all you have to do is write and perform what your brain is truely thinking (AKA no BS) Show up every day, you'll have fun.
shakespeare...need i say more?
Assignments not clear. Paper assigned every day. Never know what is going on in class.
completely unclear, repetitive assignments, shoots from the hip ie no set schedule
very unclear on the assignments. LOADS of writing for this class - practically a paper every weekend. helpful on some subjects - not so helpful on others. Just do your writing and try your best - she does look at your effort!
lots of work, get used to typing out papers and responses on a weekly basis. You'll take alot away from her classes but you'll have worked hard for it.
She is very strict and sometimes unclear, but you definitely learn in her class. You will benefit greatly from taking her, you just have to work for it.
Pretty good class..expect to write a lot..paper every weekend...when she writes questions for essays they are confusing...you will learn a lot but the class is definitly not what you think its going to be...i learned a lot but i dont think i would take it again
This teacher gives a lot of work but as long as you try, you will pass. Just do every assignment and paper and it is a guarantee pass in the class. Good teacher for the most part and very smart.
If you Really like to write and want a tough challenge then take this class. This is not for slackers at all. She is very into what she teaches though and if you are interested in evil and want a challenge take her class other wise stay away.
I had to drop this class because it was so ridiculous. The attendance policy was only 2 misses and if you were 5 min late for class that was 1/2 a class absence. I've had other English classes before, but this one was a ridiculous amount of work.
so difficult to understand and very sarcastic
She is an excellent teacher overall, however classwork is extremely important so show up. The quizes she gives are relatively easy and the papers are graded fairly lenient. She has a mildly interesting class, but has a lot of group work which I dont prefer.
The class is very challenging, and there is a lot of busy work. The reading choices are somewhat uninteresting (opinion). Take this if you enjoy writing, but if you slack off, I suggest another professor... It is an interesting WBIS topic, but not for everyone.
The first class was fun. After then they become complex and dry. You will pick apart every sentence of every book you read. Kelly herself is easy to get along with, but as a professor she hard to understand and seems to have no clear way of grading. all in all take another WBIS professor, you and your GPA will be glad you did.
You have to work soooo hard for a good grade. Directions for projects were six pages long, and it was useless information? She says the same thing over and over again. Definitely a wake up call for a freshman!
She is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. I was excited about the class before I met her. I couldn't wait for it to be over. She never is willing to hear other opinions, is very unclear, and never willing to explain herself in another way to help you better understand. Run.. Take a different teacher.
unclear instruction/direction. very arrogant and conceited attitude. i've never found it so hard to communicate freely with anyone. exciting topic for WBIS but find a different prof!
After taking this class, I realized how much I hate writing. Very time comsuming, almost an informal/formal paper due by next class period. Directions can sometimes be hard to understand. Overall, not one of my favorites.
Probably the worst professor I have ever had. Grammatical errors in everything. Way too much work for one semester. Does not let you express your own opinion. Repeats herself 100 times. Explanations of work not clear at all, and way too wordy.
After taking this class, I feel worse about my writing skill then I did before. Don't expect to get an A in this class.
Terrible. Stay far away from her. She has a paper due every week let alone hard assignments due every day. Is not open to other people's ideas and will not help you. Very tough grader.
The University of Oshkosh should be ashamed to have her as a teacher. She is the worst teacher ever! She does so much group work (which I hate). Everything you learned in High School about writing...Throw it out the window! She doesnt tell you how you're "supposed" to write until 2/3 way through the semester! Find a different class and FAST!!!
Her directions are unclear most of the time, papers are assigned for tomorrow without her telling you. She gives you the instructions for how to get a b, and says you need to 'exceed my expectations' to get an A.
If you can avoid her class do it! Nice Women, but horrible teacher, she never listens to what students say. Everyday is just group discussion with handouts that no one understands. She's suppose to be a writing teacher, but she constantly has spelling and grammatical errors! She gives so much homework it put me behind in all of my other classes!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! She is NEVER clear on what she wants you to write, when you ask her questions she just repeats herself, and you have pretty much two papers due per week. I have gotten and A in every other English class I have ever taken and I'm pretty sure I'm failing her class. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CLASS!!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! SHE IS A HORRIBLE TEACHER AND DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS WHEN SHE GRADES YOUR ESSAYS! KELLEY IS NOT A GOOD PROFESSOR AND IF YOU DO TAKE HER CLASS, SUCKS FOR YOU. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!
Handouts aren't clear and are full of grammar errors, she also doesn't even attempt to teach till the semester is ending, and when she does teach she talks in circles and doesn't explain subjects well. Expect lots of group work, and don't expect prior notice when you're writing papers unless you read the syllabus repeatedly.
As long as you do the homework, getting an A is easy. Expect tons of group work, lectures that go in circles, and short notice on assignments. The most frustrating thing with this professor is her lack of understand outside of her field. Over half of the historical / cultural background info she (tries) to give is incorrect. Not approachable.
My biggest issue with this professor is that she lets her actor friend sit in on classes and contribute. She'll even have conversations with that at the expense of students. Very unprofessional in my opinion.
nothing is clear, she talks in circles, lovely lady but everyone is so confused. i did a project and the projector stopped working so she told us to keep going and she was in and out of the room. she came back and said she wasn't getting a clear message from us and we didn't get to finish our presentation!
She is very nice, but does talk in circles. She does't really explain things, and when you ask questions she doesn't really help just kinda talks in circles some more. Kinda hard if you don't like to write because you get a paper to write almost every weekend
Kelley is very wordy and difficult to contact outside of class and designated office hours. However, once you focus on the actual question she wants answered in a paper, you will get a lot of helpful feedback from her, but you'll need patience and the ability to decipher incredibly wordy assignment guidelines.
A nice lady but an awful professor. I took a once-a-week, brit lit class for 3 crd as a gen ed. The homework didn't get put up until fri morning when the class was on mon, the assignments were so confusing, the students NEVER knew what was due when, a 14-pg syllabus that is no help and she doesn't check email or respond. TAKE A DIFFERENT PROFESSOR!
Learned nothing, way to much work, had to write a paper nearly every class period.
Difficult class, hard to uderstand requirements on any given paper, and she often brings her own views into the class...
Worst teacher I have ever encountered. Nothing was clear, and if you ever disagree she downgrades you for you different opinions. I am normally a straight A student and still received a B+, but I can honestly say I have never had a worse 14 weeks in my life as a student.
Not helpful at all. Says the classroom is "open for interpretation" but it really isn't. Doesn't explain her questions or what she wants in a paper.
I do not recommend this class at all. She was very strange... Not very easy to understand and unclear on assignments. She brings her own views to class, but gets angry when you disagree with her. So be careful...
nice lady. very passionate about what she does but has NO idea what shes doing. or at least she doesnt explain it well. words cant even describe how confusing and useless this class was. you do hardly writing but go through multiple research projects that are hard and so pointless. pretty much given up on this class. DONT TAK IT
She is an awful professor. She is never clear about what she wants but expects you to do everything right. If you don't she down grades you for it. Whatever you do, DON'T TAKE HER CLASS!
Basically, she is very unclear about everything. Grades, assignments, directions, even her stories and explanations. Probably the most frustrating professor I have ever encountered. You'll have no idea what your grade is in that class the majority of the semester. If you can avoid this class, I highly recommend you do.
This is probably the worst professor I have or will ever have. She's very nice and caring but she's an awful teacher. She gives you zero directions, you have assignments, quizzes, projects, papers due all on the same days. There isn't a single day you wont have homework. Also, you have to do majority of your work outside of class. DON'T DO IT.
Everyone must take this class! She is the most clear a professor could be and an easy grader! The interest level in the topic of evil was absolutely fantastic! TAKE THIS CLASS.
I still have no clue what my grade is 3 day after the end class. I love way she teaches but she is unclear what she grading us on.
Kelley is not a good professor. She doesn't explain assignments and the written instructions are impossible to understand. She gives a ton of homework every night and talks about pointless information. I DO NOT recommend taking any of her classes.
WORST professor at Oshkosh. Do not take any of her classes. She makes me hate going to class. DO NOT take her!
She is by far the most vague professor I have ever had. Also there were 4 group projects in the semester. One of which was assigned the week before finals at the same time as our large research paper.
Very confusing class, she seems to have what she wants in her heard but is awful at communicating it. She piles on the work which includes vague descriptions of what she wants but then rips it apart if it isn't exactly as she envisioned it. Find a better professor.
Kelley was an okay professor. She was confusing at times, but overall she was a pretty easy grader. Her power points are repeats so you barely have to take notes all the time. You better like working in groups because that's mostly what you do. She's in love with Shakespeare, but the quest topic of evil was fun. This class was an easy A.
Most frustrating person ever. No one has any idea what is going on. She can't communicate what she is thinking or what she wants in the assignment. The only reason this class wasn't dropped is because she is an easy grader. She should really teach elementary school. If you have patience you will do fine, but if not, good luck.
Kelley is very long winded, very confusing and intricate assignment instructions. Be prepared to get all touchy feely with your mind. Very annoying class. Easy A, IF you just do what she's asking. Just go along with it all and you'll pass.
Generally nice and has a lot of geeky interests that she will discuss. However, she can go on and on with stories she brings up and it gets a bit repetitive. A lot of people complain that her assignments are unclear and that is true; she's a bit deceptive about things so she can use it as a "learning experience". Easy A though.
Kelley's class is pointless. Anything you turn in as long as theres words on it will get an A. She is the easiest grader I've ever had! She's super disorganized and her lectures are pointless but its worth the easy A in the class.
I enjoyed Kelley. She was nice and always there to answer your questions. She was very understanding, especially during finals week. Attendance is graded so you have to show up and if you do she likes you that much more. I thought she was an easy grader also. I would recommend her!!
I liked Kelley!! She is very understanding and kind!! She can be confusing at times, but the class is super easy. I got an A and never even tried. I would recommend taking her for the hard majors you need A's in. The group projects sucked, but again she was understanding of the bad group members.
Mrs. D was my favorite teacher! 10/10 would take again! She let us play games for a week, lets class out early, show up and pass, gives little to no homework, a few reading quizzes (all simple, 10 questions), 20 question easy final. She made my first semester a bit better!
Kelly was a super easy grader. A lot of the stuff was boring, but she gives a lot of time to do work in class and grades extremely easy.
She may seem like she's all over the place and sometimes assignments or worksheets will seem pointless but they all come together in the end. BEST English 300 Connect professor that you can take. You will definitely pass.
Absolutely wonderful professor. She is so approachable and gives great feedback for papers. Showing up to class and doing your work will easily get you a good grade.
I liked Kelley a lot she was super understanding to me and as long as you go you will do well. She has deffinetly been one of my favorite professors i've had so far, her classes are fun and keep you interested
Love this class, always interesting discussion, as long as you show up, and follow directions (which are pretty clear) You will do fine.
She is honestly not a bad person. She is an easy grader as long as you follow the guidelines she puts out (which are confusing). But, her lectures are useless and just lead to nothing but more confusion. She does allow a few group projects, which is also nice.
Her class was an easy A if you showed up and did the work. However, 100% of her class lectures were spent talking about things that honestly had nothing to do with what we were discussing. Besides the off topic conversation she led, she provides little to no instruction on what she wants in her assignments. So if you like direction, do NOT take her
She is so caring. Her WBIS 188 class is easy compared to other WBIS classes, she is really passionate about what she teaches. Every Friday she lets us go 10 minutes early which is always nice. What is expected in papers is not always clear with her. DON'T GET A TEXTBOOK, you should read- but its common knowledge, so don't waste money. RECOMMEND!!
Ms. D is an interesting teacher, super kind and willing to help all of her students succeed. Sometimes I think she is a little too easy on college level students, but her main goal is to teach and help us learn. Lectures can be all over the place and she isn't always the clearest, but overall good teacher!
She is nice, but possibly one of the worst professors I've ever had. She does not make expectations on assignments clear, and likes to contradict herself often. Ms. D also is very adamant on the material she is teaching, so if you happen to have a differential opinion than her, be prepared to be mocked and made a fool-of during class. AVOID!
She is very caring and understanding but her directions are hard to understand most of the time.
I liked her because she was nice and caring. She explains her directions over and over again without complaining because sometimes they were hard to understand. She does not grade too tough and gives you multiple chances to improve your grade on a paper and she is flexible. She does lots of group projects but is easy to communicate with.
Super kind and genuinely cares for her students. She gives good feedback on essays.
She's okay but definitely a tough grader. Lots of group projects aswell.
She was a very caring teacher and was not a tough grader. Her WBIS 188 class was cake and the whole class was based on the same group project. Never had homework other than the few papers we had to write.
She gives a ton of lead up assignments that are supposed to help with the final assignment, but really just get in the way and take up all of your time. (One was like 14 pages.) She acts like she has no control over that, but if you ask anyone else who takes the class with a different prof, they dont have to do all the work. take someone else.
Was not very flexible with online learning despite the pandemic. Gives many lead-up assignments that seem pointless but if you don't do them you get a lower grade on the bigger assignment. A very time-consuming class that makes you constantly work to keep a good grade. Directions are very confusing and no real direction is given for the essays.
I really loved Dr. Ds class. She is so sweet and cares about student success. She gives very good feedback on papers and isnt too tough of a grader. There are many assignments when working up to a big paper but if you put in the work it will be worth it and make it much easier when writing the papers. I would suggest taking her class!
Leading up to the final project (assignment 3) there is SO MUCH work. It's kinda overwhelming and unnecessary. However, Mrs. D is a very caring professor and is very nice. She makes you print out basically everything though which is annoying. Computers are also not usually allowed during class.
Ms. D is not a good professor. There is so. much. busywork. Everyday there is another worksheet or assignment to turn in, that don't count for anything except your participation grade. It reminds me of being in elementary school. Her assignment expectations are unclear and confusing, and it is difficult to discern what she wants out of papers.
She definitely knows what she is talking about, but expects students to know way too much going into the class. Her lectures sort of go over the readings, but if you don't understand what's going on then you're on your own. Her quizzes are super easy but the essays/projects are get really complicated.
One of the kindest professors. Truly cares about her students, but this class was almost impossible. The directions she gives are confusing and pretty scarce. Textbook is common sense but she asks about the readings. There is so much work and the group projects are stressful. She gives good feedback but avoid if you need explicit direction.
She is super kind and you can tell she cares about her students, but there is SO much busy work. There was something you always had to turn in for almost every class and it is pretty time consuming. For example, she wanted us to write 36 paragraphs in five days. I just find her assignments pointless.
SO much busy work , sometimes its very pointless and time consuming but it matters for your grade . The assignments are very stupid and Boring
Ms. D is a very nice professor!! It is obvious she cares about her students & their wellbeing. That said, she assigns sooo much busy work between the course's 'major papers'. Some helped toward constructing the papers, but the majority did not and just wasted time that could be used toward writing the papers. Attendance matters too!
Ms. D is a very nice woman but I did not enjoy the class. Your entire semester grade is only 100 points so to get a A or B is difficult. There are opportunities for extra credit on every writing assignment so take advantage of those. Do not buy the textbook because you literally only use it once.
She is a very nice person who cares about her students and can is understanding when it comes to late work, probably more lenient about it than she should be. The amount of busy work is insane. Assignments are confusing and if you ask for help she just treats you as if you're below her or responds in a patronizing way. Good person, bad professor.
her assignments are SO confusing. Once I asked her in class if she could explain a paper to the clas or just me again and looked me in the eyes and said no as if she was offended i didnt understand. Shes a nice lady but just not really helpful or easy to understand, take the class with a different prof.
in class, you sit there and listen to her talk about the same pointless things every class. and then at the end of class you get 5 minutes to work in class on your paper, which is 5 pages due the next class. all rubrics are vague and abstract, but she expects you understand it right away. currently regretting, just choose a different teacher.
I've had Ms. D for almost a whole semester and she is AWFUL. We still don't have a grade put in because "she doesn't have the time for it" and "canvas doesn't work for grades in this class". We ask questions about our papers and almost any assignment and she says "that's for you to figure out". She made the librarian be our teacher for three weeks.
The classes are pointless but you need to attend or you will fail. Lots of group work and you have to work outside of class. Papers are long and there's no structure. Had no idea what I was doing the entire semester and hoped for the best. Not a single grade was entered all semester. Still have no clue what my grade is and the semester is over.
The class requires a lot of busy work, but engaging with the assignments can be rewarding. Attendance is mandatory, and the grading system is a bit unstructured. unstuck ai was a helpful study tool for me in this course.
