Very cool teacher that is willing to teach if you are willing to learn. Has a creative way of breaking things down for everyone and making the learning content not so dry. Shows DVDs in class to get a better understand of the subject.
He's a cool teacher. He is blunt though; which is actually good, since it'll help you in this class. He only assigned to major essays, which he grades fairly easy. Since you get a "0th" draft, a 1st draft, and a final draft. I recommend this tea
thing is, he's always 10-15mins late and lags when he gets class started. but hey, that's a good thing right?
GOOD NEWS, no thinking involved in this class. He gives out take home midterms. Quizes are a little bit hard, but overall easy class. His jokes are lame.
Wells' teaching is very unorganized. But he will hepl you if you ask him.
not bad of a teacher...very boring!..cus he takes his time in talking. but makes interesting examples...he is always LATE...if he is early...its SHOCKING
WELLS is the WORST professor I have had.Quiz questions are worded in a way that is impossible to decipher.Makes up lectures on the spot.Has no business teaching PHIL.Gave syllabus midsemester-doesnt follow it.Grades quizzes and papers weeks later.
hard to understand what he asks on quizzes. makes it more difficult than it really is. pretty easy though i guess. got a c and didnt even read the book, let alone buy it. take notes though it'll help a lot. and go to class
I was very disappointed (in the class and the professor). I would not recommend him. He gave quizzes to our class that were meant for another class. Confusing syllabus and due dates. Take a different prof.
Easy Going. Only 2 essays. Quizes are little hard but tests re not.
he arrives late. can't complain abt that. it's true, books are pointless. spent the whole class period figuring out those darn blue remote control things. 2 essays, tests/quizes are somewhat hard.i think the final was open note. i got a C.
i hate this piece of**** old geezer. Before he use to give us take home midterms and finals. I got an A on every quiz and an A on my midterm. My final grade was a C. That **** wasnt even there to collect my final and told me I got an F on my final. Dumb****didnt even have my final and fuked up my gpa. old piece of****. Comes to class late.
comes to class late. repeats the same stuff in every lecture. sometimes isnt even there. he's deaf, dumb, and ugly. i dont know how the hell he got his phD. the person who gave that to hiim must be smoking crack. he looks like albert einstein but really... he's more like MICHAEL JACKSON...
U Want an Easy A with less work Take this dude. He comes to class late all the time and his lectures are basically same all the time. But u get easy take home exams. Quizs are ok but if u read the book which i bet u wont lol then u can get A on them. Very Easy Teacher He lets to make up quizes but he is very unorganized.
boring class, not recommend for anyone who's christian, this course will confuse ur belief. some ideas do not make sense and stupid.
Easy A class! Group quizzes and tests. Pretty good teacher and explains philosophy in more modern terms. Pretty impartial when trying to explain about philsophical theology. Pretty funny guy too. Take this class you won't regret it!
Nothing to say. He is very easy and funny guy.
okay teacher easy midtern and final all were group. read the book he reads out from his own book.
extremly easy! group tests! I didnt read a single thing and got a B. Hes pretty funny too, and to that person who said, "dont take this class if your christian it will confuse your beliefs." shouldnt you welcome new knowlege? Have al lthe facts about things before you spend your whole life devoted to something.
this teacher is it! you'd be stupid not to take him for your Phil 10 or 60 class. real easy, and you don't always have to go to class!
Mr. Wells is a nutcase. His teaching style is so dreary & mind-numbing. Makes me wanna jump off a cliff to keep from listening to his nonsensical gibberish! (NO JOKE!) How he got a philosophy textbook published is a great mystery to me...something I will NEVERRR know nor understand. Don't waste your time taking his class- the man is a LOONY!! =X
Ahhh! His study-guide for final seems rediculous! so much nonsense =( 3 part final.overall, you will probally not learn anything in this class.. passable with a C.. boring boring lecture..i notice when he lectures the class leaves =( anyways, he seems like a nice gentleman though.. =) take it or not.. up to u haha take it & find out 4 urself.
this class was the mostttttttttttttttt boringggggggg class ive ever taken at evc! he comes to class late everyday and his lecitures are boringgggggg!!!
Dr. Wells has group quizzes and the final, midterm is half n group and individual. The book is very boring and his lectures are killers!! He's nice but if you don't prepare yourself for the midterm m final you will get a low grade. He does curve midterm n finals it's because it is hard. He doesn't take attendance n since he's boring u want 2 cut.
awful awful class. Every time I felt like screaming from the top of my lungs from the pain of the boredom
Maybe because i'm really interested in philsophy, i don't find his class boring like everyone else does...actually it CAN be at times, but he's a good guy. Not condescending or or judgemental like Stephen Blades (a psychology teacher. i hate that guy). Work is really easy. Just read the book and take notes in class. Quizzes are easy. Good class.
this class is so easy, but it's boring as hell. You don't even have to show up to class everyday, just make sure of the test dates and keep up with your reading. i myself didn't skip his class but that was only cause of my ipod, that thing kept me awake. His final is straight from his tests and extremely easy.
Not the easiest class, his lectures can be hard to understand. Show up to every lecture and take thorough notes. Make sure to pay attention and truly understand what he's talking about, otherwise you'll be completely lost for the rest of the semester.
wow, what a class. that was probably one of the most boring courses, but t was super easy. the mid term and final provided so much extra credit that you would have been stupid to not get an a. but make sure you go to class- some stuff he teaches isnt in the book.
He is a nice tecaher. Even though lecture was difficult sometimes, he was able to make people understand. Anyways, it is an easy course.
One of the boring class I ever had. Although, it's very easy.
This class was insanely easy. I went to very few lectures and if I did go spent most of my time flipping through the book or doodling, its quite boring. went in to pick up the midterm and the final they were both take home. I emailed them to him. There are extra credit on both of them, they make 80% of the grade. I only got a B cuz i didnt do ec
Easy class. You don't have to get the book if you pay attention in class, which is a bit hard to do. Very very boring. Take his class with a friend and it'll go by faster. All the tests were group tests.
Super BORING! but easy if you can stay awake and actually pay attention. He's oblivious to whats going on around him.
Dr. Wells is basically a disgruntled old man who looks like Gepetto. He doesn't take crap from anyone and hates students talking during class. He has good intentions and wants everyone to learn the stuff, but he is just SO boring. You get several quizzes which are all hard, a hard midterm, and a VERY TRICKY final! Do the reading & go over notes!
All tests are multiple choice. Midterm and Final were done in groups, although that may vary. Attendance is required. Book is available online. Extra credit essay worth 10%.
So easy! the test were very easy and the assignments as well. Nice guy too and he is pretty funny
Easy class. I got an A w/out studying much. And there have been times when I fell asleep during class (I sat in the front LOL). Just read whatever text he provides & you'll be ok. make sure to study the quizzes since that is where the midterm&final will come from. Boring lectures, but manageable to get through if you have an iPod. As for the teacher, he's not too bad... funny at times.
There are no discussions, he only lectures. Every second week there is a quiz(15 questions). There's one midterm and one final. It's easy to get a B or an A in his class. I only bought the previous edition of the textbook which cost me $3 and studied from his notes and got an A.
He is a great teacher who explains the material clearly. He is very helpful and accommodating.
the class was easy and i learned quite a bit! just take notes and read the text... you'll be fine. no homework besides the reading -- grades were based solely on test scores, which is nice. :)
Mr. Wells is so boring no help and all is quiz and exams
Interesting class.Mr Wells can get a little boring, but he is quite funny at times. No HW just reading. All quizzes and exams are multi choice, which is good and bad. He give chance at extra credit as well.
He's funny and a dork. He's kind of boring but it's an easy class. Read the book and he goes over it and the quizzes are extremely easy. He gave our class the midterm in groups. I recommend this class.
Prof. Wells is a good teacher. His class was fairly straight forward and easy. He had a bunch of quizzes, a midterm, and a final. As long as you take notes and read the book, this class will be over in no time. He also tries to make some jokes, which sometimes are funny.
Dr. Wells is a great professor. A person must be really dumb, not to pass his class because not only this class easy, but it teach you a lot about philosophy and its philosophers. Also, reading is mandatory in this class because he quizzes you on it everyday. I would take this professor again.
this class was fairly easy but it also requires work. his lectures are straight forward but just remember to pay attention to his lectures because most.. if not all the questions on the quiz are from the lectures. great professor ! he was willing to add EVERYONE on the waitlist even when there were no more seats
You will pass with flying colors by paying attention to his straight forward lectures (that may be boring) and doing the assigned readings (buy the textbook ASAP). Dr. Wells also provides extra credit assignments that can boost your grade up to a whole letter grade.
A full on lecture class. There are quizzes for every section he covers in the book. If you read the book and take notes during his lectures you will pass the class. Quizzes, midterms and finals are all multiple choice and he gives extra credit for doing short essay questions (which are take-home). Some think he's boring, but he can be pretty funny.
Dr. Wells talks at a slow pace, so at first it was kind of hard to keep up with his lecture, having it so drawn out, but I found that after that first class I got used to it. His class is very easy, but I do recommend reading the textbook. He also types up his notes and makes them available to his students to study.
This is one of the best teachers i've had so far at EVC! He makes philosophy so easy especially when people cant understand he'll go over it again and again. He sometimes has group quizzes. The textbook is helpful if you read it before you go to class. It makes it easier to understand as well taking quizzes. I would totally recommend him.
Easy class. Copy notes, listen, skim through the book, all set for the quiz. I took his class seriously at first, but ended up not coming regularly since I already knew how his system works. He's a nice guy who will explain things for you. Yes, the class is very boring. Easy A for average students. TAKE HIM.
the class period felt very long, but we usually finished about a half hour early. He offers extra credit on the midterm and final, if you do it then you will probably get an A in the class.
Class is super easy. Quizzes and midterms are all T/F and multiple choice. Just use the powerpoint slides from publisher's site and you don't even need the book. Do the extra credit for grade boost. I had an A+ in this class. If you fail this class, you fail at life. Seriously.
this class was really easy, i just read the summary for the quizs, and for the final if you do the extra credit youll probably get an A.
Had him for Intro to Phil. and Logic/Critical Thinking. No homework, grade is all quizzes + exams, but they're not hard. Basically, read the book and/or follow his lectures, show up on quiz days, do some EC, and you can get an A. He's pretty generous with EC too. Really laid-back guy. The lectures are pretty dry, but it's philosophy.
read the chapter summary + do the online practice quiz (link is given at the end of each chapter in the book) = guarantee an A
Had him for summer. Lectures boring, but some of what he says is on the quiz. Study the chapter sections closely. He practically uses it word for word on quizzes. Quizzes were multiple choice. Gave a lot of extra credit. Final was made up for all quizzes, so study from the quizzes.
INTRODUCTUCTION TO PHILOSOPHY
pretty easy class but you have to put in effort. As long as you show up to class most of the time and read the chapters carefully you should get a good grade.there is a midterm and a final and numerous quizzes and thats it.he also gives two extra credit oppurtunites.hes not too boring but hes doesnt make it super interesting either.
There?s a quiz every week and so read the assigned readings ahead of time or your going to fail each quiz & stack up on scantrons! Stay on top of the readings, be prepared for all the quizzes, and try not to skip out on too many classes and you should get a decent grade but if you?re expecting some stimulating environment or course don?t bother.
took him for winter session and im glad i did, it would of been a long semester, lectures are ENDLESS (slept couple of times), it helps to have the book with you to follow him, his funny at times, the teacher is coo but the subject isnt my cup of tea, the class is easy as long as you understand the text. his pretty easy on the students too i guess.
class is super boring, lectures can go on for days, he is a nice guy though he tries his best to help you understand the material there are weekly quizzes based from the book/notes final and midterm are recycled questions from previous quizzes just read the book and you'll do fine, he also offers alot of extra credit before the midterm and final
I suggest to sit up front, when he writes on the board, because he doesn't write so clearly. The questions for quizzes, midterms, & finals are from the book most of the time. He gives extra credit that may seem complex, but they're not. He wakes up the class by telling some jokes. Bring something to entertain yourself to keep yourself awake.
He's easy if you pay attention to lectures and study for the weekly quizzes. He explains things pretty well, but he is super borringg.
Do not take this teacher very unorganized. First day of class gave the class the wrong lecture. We spent over one hour in class and found out he gave us lecturer on Phil 65 and not Phil 60. The second week gave us a quiz that i still haven't got back. After the quiz students kept on asking him where was the quiz result all he can say is he forgot.
This guy's cool.
This guy grades ridicuously easy. His religous philosophy class was an easy A. The class is interesting and I learned a lot but my only complaint about the class is that dr wells when he reads his notes, reads word for word and rarely stops to ellaborate. However, he only reads the notes to class before a quiz which I found extremely helpful. I highly reccomend taking his class, he is a fantastic Professor and really knows his stuff. PS: he has messy writing but all his notes r online anyways
Dr. Wells is a horribly boring teacher and frankly hard to understand. Most people don't show up to his class, but they should as he gives weekly quizzes which require tons of reading if you want to do well. The midterms are easy as they are the same q's from the quizzes. If you don't get lazy, you can get an A
Dr. Wells knows his stuff! He does a very good job of explaining philosophical concepts in ways that stick. I find that the knowledge I received from this course follows me to this day. Attend class daily, take notes, and reading will not be necessary to get an A. Boring is irrelevant, when the material is so concisely presented. truly effective.
He goes over everything you need for his quizzes. If you are unsure just ask and he will try to simplify it. The presentation is dry and easy to fall asleep. Try to sit towards the front. He doesn't take roll but if you don't want to read you should go to class. Rarely read the book and ditched a lot and got a C in the class. Seen plenty of students that put in effort and aced most test.
he has the philosophical knowledge you need to understand and pass,he is an interesting professor.
Really nice teacher. Attendance is not mandatory. No HW in the class so the class is base on the test. The book it rather cheap since it cost are $40-$80. You might need it. but I barely read the book and got a B. The exams are all multiply choice and he lets you do extra credit to boost your exam score(only 1 maybe 2 exams).Lets you drop one exam.
hes a really nice man. Hes really easy but at the same time it can be hard if you dont go to class. You have to study for the quizzes because your grade will depend on them. Just dont get lazy and your good.
easy class and amazing teacher.Barely read the book and still got 105% on the class. You just have to go to class and listen to his lecture, read his notes, participate in group quizzes, do extra credit assignment(it gets your grade higher A LOT!) and you will do just FINE! he looks hard but totally not! highly recommend!
He is super easy. All quizzes (besides quiz #1) were group quizzes so you get alot of help from your peers. The midterm and final are all of your previous quizzes combined, word for word. He is so nice. Extra credit is worth like 1-2 letter grades for the final. SO EASY AND SO NICE! The material would be alot harder if you had someone else.
took this class last fall and it was pretty easy. I mean, i thought the quizzes were hard, but he lets you work in groups. He discards your lowest quiz score and the final is the sum of the questions on the quizzes. He uploads the quizzes online, so keep your scantrons! gives e.c. too! attendance is mandatory. got an A
His class is super easy... to fall asleep in! He is a nice teacher and his class is not that hard just read the book and you will do fine. Quizzes and tests and reading for hw is what youre looking at with him as a professor.
Mandatory attendance, all material from books. Group quizzes but solo midterms/final (which are composed of material from quizzes). Very easy to pass the class if you study his notes uploaded on Moodle. Lots of movies watched during class ;) Good teacher overall. He is pretty funny when making jokes:)
This guys class is easy but his lecture can get a little boring sometimes. Anyways for intro we got to watch movies to learn philosophy so that was really cool. I aced his class and I highly recommend him
Great teacher. Lets you use notes and the book. Explains it and will go on a tangent if you let him. Very understanding and will work with you. One of my FAVORITE teachers ever
Took Dr. Wells class during intersession. He lets his students use notes during tests besides the midterm and final. Just pay attention in class an ask questions, then you'll do fine.
Took him for intersession. Allows to use notes for quiz everyday except for midterm and final. Everything is multiple choice and you get confused on many questions but if you pay lot of attention you can do good. He's strict on grading the skit and essay and thats what brings your grade down.
Dr. Wells is a solid teacher. The quizzes can be challenging but you are allowed to use notes and work in groups. No notes or groups during tests so be prepared.
Dr. Wells made Phil 60 and Phil 65 the easiest, most fun classes to learn in. Fun fact: this professor will write a book by next year to argue with Harvard professors. This guy sure knows his stuff!
His Intro to Philosophy class is pretty easy. You don't need the textbook, just show up and pay some attention. IMO, philosophy is pretty subjective, so I don't like that his tests are MCQ. Just read the notes online if you wanna get A. He likes it when people ask questions but the class is lecture-based and you watch movies.
highly recommend. he is hilarious and easy. you just need to read notes.
He is my favorite teacher, his class is really interesting, and you don't need the textbook which is great. For intersession you get group quizzes almost everyday, besides the midterm and final. And no homework (-:
Caring professor who really knows his stuff. He provides his notes and has group quizzes. He really just wants you to learn more about philosophy :)
GREAT GUY. GREAT PROFESSOR.
Really chill professor. I bought the book in new condition and never once opened it. Quizzes in every class if not most classes. There was 1 extra credit opportunity in this semester. During class he will show a video, lecture, and give out the quiz you can do with a partner or in a group, then if there isn't anything else planned you can go home.
Took this class based on previous comments. Pretty boring class and professor... A few people fall asleep in this class or use their phones the whole time. The previous comments are true in that there are quizzes every day and you can use groups. No homework. One paper at the end of the semester.
Quiz every single week. Lectures are insanely boring. Although you get to be in your groups for quizzes and tests, his exams are insanely hard and very confusing. he tends to twist a lot of questions on exams and make it as hard as possible. I guess he was easy before but this year for me, hes awful. Wouldn't Recommend to anyone.
The material is easy enough and you can pass just by reading through his lecture notes. But hes very unorganized and consistently gave quizzes on material we havent covered yet. I understand he went out of retirement to teach but it was hard to stay engaged in class when he has no energy to teach or hold a lecture.
