College algebra was fun and interesting with Kelley. She engaged the class and made sure everyone understood before she moved on. Always available, if she saw us studying, she would sit down and help

very through and clear demands good students ...meaning take good notes do the homework and ask alot of questions if you dont unerstand

Kelly is a great math professor for higher level classes. She is clear in the proofs and explains the concepts well. Also, if you are having difficulty, she will give you a lot of help without making you feel as though you are encroaching on her time.

Kelly puts math in easy terms for people to understand her. She's very helpful and you can always ask questions. Her tests are relatively easy and relate to your notes. It's a shame and mystery why she didn't teach College Algebra during Spring '05. Hopefully she can next semester.

Kelly is a great teacher she shows how math can be applied to everyday life. I've had her for College Algebra, Trig, and Calc I. She makes math enjoyable by being very alert and energetic even at 7 or 8 in the morning.

Math has never been my subject. I have always struggled, and it has never made sense...that is until Kelly Ballard came into the picture!Wow! If there were a 10 star rating she would get it 100%! Kelly Ballard, is by far the best teacher on the campus of Meramec Community College. I know of no one better equipped to teach any body math, and she is so positive and caring. Take her and she will help you get the grade you want, if you will do your part. She will make time for you, she will answer your questions, and care for you as a person.

She is SHARP. Extremely helpful, talks through several examples that are NOT in the book, so we get a better picture of things. Expects a lot, but really makes you want to live up to her expectations.

Her teaching methods are easily understood, is welcoming to answering questions without losing patience, and holds the attention of the class well.

I am not a math person and have always struggled with math...not with Kelly! She is a beautiful person and individual. Amazing at what she does. Kelly is the best math professor I have had by a long shot. She will make sure the entire class understands to the best of her ability either in class and/or out of class. Great, enthusiastic, and professional teacher. She made World Religions my favorite class to go to last semester. The exams are a true test of your knowledge and consist of mostly writing. Would recommend this teacher and course to anyone who has an interest in World Religions or needs a humanities.

Took Inter. Alg. with Kelly online. She is super sweet and very nice, she wants you to get a good grade in her class and will stay late to help if you need her to. My only problem was that she took forever to answer emails. Once I got past that and started showing up during her office hours everything was great! Really cares about the students!

I took the class in a computer lab so I didn't have much interaction with the instructors. When i did need help though, she was VERY willing to sit down and help me one on one. Take Kelly's class! Have you ever wished that your math professor could be enthusiastic, interesting, and easy to understand? This class is all of those things and more. My 2.5 hour calculus class flies by because she is so engaging. How often can you say that about upper level math?

I am not a great math student. I struggle with almost any somewhat difficult problem. I was in a mostly computer based learning system, but she came around and made sure I was doing alright and helped me out when I was struggling. she is a great teacher to have!

kelly's class is clear, well organized, interesting and funny. She is very helpful in and outside of class. Her personality makes the class unique, very recommended for any level of math.

College algebra is not an easy subject. But you wont find a better teacher to teach it to ya than Kelly! Shes outgoing, funny, and keeps you awake throughout class. Kelly is a great professor. She really cares about her students and is willing to help you succeed. The course is difficult, especially if you haven't taken a Calc. course before. I took it during the summer, but had taken a survey course before. Make sure to do homework. She gives hints to what's on the test and uses hw/in class examples on tests.

Dr. Ballard has a TON of energy, she's always smiling, and her lectures are entertaining and funny--even if you hate math like me. Ms. Ballard is one of the very few instructors at STLCC who truly deserves the title Professor Ballard. I really wish I would've had the chance to take her teaching the higher level MTH courses.

Kelly Ballard was a good math teacher but she was not very flexible. I had taken high level math in high school and found this course to be easy so I did not come to class very often. Because of this, she prioritized her other students over myself and often changed test dates in class without making announcements over Blackboard.

Took her world religions class and it was obvious she had a passion for religion. Her class really opened my eyes to religions and cultures I knew little about. Definately a class you have to study for but the teacher provides all the tools and is very nice, understanding and helpful.

I had Kelly for Calc II and World Religions. She is hands down the greatest professor I have every had. Calc was not easy but she made it interesting and fun! I had professor Ballard for a Humanities class. You will take a lot of notes, read a book, and have a few writing assignments, two quizzes, two tests, and a final. She does an in-class review for the tests. She is very pleasant and I learned so much. I would take another class with her.

I almost didn't leave this review because there are so many good ones. However, something people haven't mentioned is her empathy. She is so understanding of different views and loves to have in depth conversations about them! World Religions felt like an opportunity to expand rather than "credits", which is pretty hard to say about most classes.

Kelly is an amazing teacher! She's extremely passionate, caring, and wants to see students succeed. I wouldn't suggest missing many classes as the tests come directly from material covered in the lectures, but she's really good about telling you what to expect on exams. One of my favorite professors at Meramec.

I took Ballard for both 030 and 140 and I will be taking her again this upcoming semester for 160. She is by far the best math teacher at Meramec. Obviously math is difficult but if you show her that you are trying and putting in the work then she will do everything she can to help you pass.

I love Kelly! She is so sweet and understanding. She makes the class super interesting (although I already find this subject interesting) and is always so kind to all the students. She really knows how to engage her students and make topics interesting and fun for them! I would 100000% take her class again.

It was a great experience being a part of her class. She makes learning fun, and she puts a lot of effort and energy into her classes. She really seems to understand students in ways that other professors don't. My only complaint would be that the class got a bit too easy at times.

After struggling in Calc 1 I thought that history might repeat itself. I was wrong. Calc 3 is not a weed out class, especially in her case. Generous Grader, doesnt collect homework, got an A. On the flip side, I would cringe whenever she said the word undulating lol.

I took her for a world religions class. The lectures are really interesting. She offers up to 10 extra credit points per test by watching movies correlating to chapters (one of them was Mulan) and writing a paper about it. She also goes over the study guide and what you need to know before the test. (She says get a textbook, dont need it though).

Kelly Ballard is the best teacher I've ever had. My only regret is not being able to take her for calculus as I'm leaving. Her philosophy and humanities classes are long, typically one night a week for 3 hours, but it's a class I don't mind being in. Her passion makes the material easy and you'll surely do well.

If you have the chance to take one of her classes, definitely do it. She is good at explaining concepts and uses lots of helpful analogies - all while adding in humor. She is one of the most dedicated professors I have ever had, maybe to a fault. One day she came to teach us despite the fact she was running a fever. MUST TAKE!

Took this class to cover my humanity credit and I wish I could take all of my classes with her. She is beyond smart and is so inspired by what she does. It's like she is learning the material for the first time when she teaches. Very helpful and funny. 10/10 recommend.

Looking back on my time at Meramec, Professor Ballard is truly a stand out professor that I will remember for the rest of my life. I wasn't a huge fan of world religions but she is just fabulous! Super sweet and funny. The tests are very straightforward and not challenging as long as you do a good amount of studying, and bless her soul because she always let us know exactly what information would and wouldn't be on the test. LOTS of extra credit opportunities as well!!!!!!

During COVID-19, she was my one prof who made an effort to keep us engaged each week. Truly opened my eyes to what teaching COULD be. Understands her subject, relates to real life experiences. Funny, charming, empathetic. Plenty of EC if you need it. This is a prof who I'd take an elective for just to learn with again, one of STLCC's few gems!

Kelly is a gem. Class was rarely dull. She is so bright and full of energy. She encourages people to share their viewpoints and there is no right or wrong answer. Some of the material may be old news, but everyone is guaranteed to walk away with some form of new knowledge. The books that I purchased, I rarely used but may be good to have on hand.

Prof. Ballard was AMAZING! She opened my eyes to the true world of religion so much that I will apply these ideas to my own life. She mentions a lot of movies for you to watch to get a better understanding if you're a visual learner. She is a radiant being to be around and even with the virus, she kept pushing through with her pleasant positivity.

One of my favorite professors at STLCC. She's very nice and always came to class with a smile and positive attitude. The class was fairly easy, not too much homework and the tests weren't too hard. Overall a great professor.

So if you can get by doing a few questions from each section, the course load is entirely manageable. Tests aren't too bad, but they're still no piece of cake. 9/10 on a bad day.

Amazing professor. There are partnered quizzes. A lot of homework problems so you can test yourself, but she only picks a certain amount to be collected. Exams all have a bonus question at the end. She gives opporunity for extra credit all the time. Exams aren't hard if you study.

I took a MTH220 in the spring with Professor Ballard. Amazing Professor, explains very well. The book is needed but you can probably get it online as a pdf. There is a lot of homework problems but she only asks to submit a certain amount, the others are just for practice. There are 5 exams in total over the course of the semester and a final.

I cannot say enough good things about professor Ballard, she was one of the most amazing professors I ever got the chance to take. Calc 3 will be very hard as a summer course regardless of who teaches, since there's a lot to learn in just 8 weeks. Professor Ballard will be your BEST option for this class. She is one of the kindest & most hilarious teachers I have had. I am just a visitor student, but if I could take her again in the future, that would be AMAZING. Love her!!!

Literally the best math professor at STLCC. She is so kind and if you show up and ask her questions in her office hours it is very helpful. There are also tons of extra credit opportunities. If you want a math professor to do an honors project with, this is the one. I had her for Calc 2 and 3, can't recommend her enough.

Ballard has been my favorite professor at this school. Her lectures are mostly interesting, and I think she's very funny. Most of the grades were tests, except for homework which can be done at anytime online. I definitely needed more outside tutoring for this class, but I still could not have done it without her. I took Ms. Ballard for Calculus 3 and it was a class that met 4/5 days a week. She has great energy and skill at taking what is in the textbook and putting it onto the board. The class was a big time commitment, but she will give you back what you put into it. Definitely a great instructor.
