Great. Interesting Topics and Readings. Read before class. Simple quiz every day (to fulfill writing intensive). No big deal. Use lots of quotes and opinions in your papers. 2 short and 1 long paper. No exams. Highly Recommended!!

WMST is probably the most important class to take. It provides you with a wealth of knowledge on everyday topics that you will use for the rest of your life. She is a dedicated and knowlegable prof. It is an easy A if you attend all lectures.

Kelly is nice & HOT!! but alot of works! 8 pages per Journel with font 10!! 2 hrs-presentation!! and have to do the volunteer thing in female charity twice...

Very easy and fair. Easy tests if you listen to her lectures. She even offers some easy extra credit.

Very sweet, caring, and intelligent. This was one of the best classes I have ever taken at UNCC.

Finley's a good prof..but the journals suck! 8-10 pages in 10pt font every other week. Holds you the whole class time. And you have to do a 2 and a half hour presentation. She's great but the work takes up so much of your time....too much work for one class.

Kelly's wonderful. Serious about her courses, but helpful and doesn't lead you by the hand. Encourages you to think for yourself.

Go to class and take notes and you will do fine. There are two attendance checks and she tells you when they are. She also offers extra credit. She highlights the notes on the projector that are going to be on the test. Very interesting class!

I have become a Finley junky. She has amazing notes that are very detailed and she's not afraid to be blunt. She also is good about not alienating the guys in our class.

If you can't get an A in this class, drop out of school now. Excellent GPA booster. The material is easy, interesting, and the prof is great. This was my first wmst course so I am not all into it, but I enjoyed it.

She is such a sweetheart. She specifically tells you what to study for each test. She relates everything to real life and truly cares about her subject!

Very very good teacher. The 1st day of class, she might scare you a little bit b/c syllabus, but she is a lot nicer and makes you think of the topics discussed in class. But, you DO have to study for this class with her to pass the tests, but is not that hard. 2 attendances + 3 tests(Read book!!!). Not a WMST minor but I endup liking the class.

I absolutely LOVE her. I took her for Intro and the class was less intimate. She taught via powerpoint but it was still a great class. This summer I'm taking her for Feminist Thought. The class is smaller and more intimate. Its graet. she allows us to give our opinions. She is very relateable. If I could I'd take her every semester til I graduate!

Great Professor! very knowledgeable. Go to class and participate in class discussions. Attendance is mandatory. Dont really need the book but helps if you dont understand a topic. Goes over what you need for the test with class notes. Highly suggest taking her!!

Kelly Finley is not only an awesome and enlightening professor, she sincerely cares about what she teaches and who she teaches. Before taking her Intro class, I had no interest in WMST and now I am a proud feminist activist. Above that, she taught me to respect myself, and to make a difference. One of the best professors at UNCC.

I loved this teacher! I never would have thought I would like a womens' studies class and she made it very fun! All of the information was very interesting! All of her notes are on powerpoints with the information highlighted that will be on the tests. Tests were pretty easy.

Yes, her class is less structured than others but that's what makes it great is that you learn about REAL topics in discussion rather than by a text book. Her classes helped open my eyes to issues and what we can do about it. She's a very effective teacher, cussing an all. Highly recommend her!

only took the class because i needed it to be full time but it ended up being my favorite class! no book so you have to go to every class and take down notes but if you do you can easily get an A! I have had Kelly as a professor twice now, she is hands down AMAZING. She is funny and makes the material interesting and easy to understand. This class should be mandatory for all guys and girls to take while they are at Charlotte, you will learn A LOT.

I love Kelly! I learned more from her while at UNCC than I did from any other professor. She can bit uptight sometimes, but usually she's a lot of fun to be around. Very laidback class. My only complaint is that we talked about sex a bit too much -- I felt like I was the only virgin in there! But it was still fun...take her! :)

Kelly is an amazing professor. Work is minimal for a 4000 level class, 2 chapters a week and one 7 page paper. Class is very comfortable and you never know where the topic of discussion will come from. She strives to get to know each student and will encourage you to do something with your life. Professor Finley is a lively speaker with an excellent knowledge of her field. There was no homework or assigned reading, however, tests were fairly difficult. Unfortunately, many of the views presented in this class were biased and supported by very little empirical evidence.

easy A. just go to class and do the easy moodle quizzes on certain articles in ms magazine. tests are multiple choice and curved, and the wording can be a bit tricky. study your notes really well before taking the tests (maybe 10 pgs worth per test). as a guy, i thought this class was ok to sit through. definitely a gpa booster.

I found this class to be very easy, just go to class, take good notes and do the reading and video quizzes. The class itself is interesting enough, and you'll learn a lot!

Professor Finley was one of the best professors I have taking at UNCC. She cares about you learning and she makes every subject clear and interesting. She has a lot of energy and really gets pumped up when teaching. It's an easy class and test are multiple choice. You will no doubt learn a lot from her. You will not regret taking her class

Really not a hard class. Some of the stuff she talks about I feel is total BS but whatever. Just show up take notes and listen to her lectures etc. Then study all the notes you've taken. (she tells you what to write down from her powerpoint) One of the most easiest classes I've taken at UNCC. If you miss her class and don't take notes GL passing

Loved this class, she's a great professor and she's funny which is a plus. Taking notes are required to help study for the few tests that are given.

I never wanted to miss a class purely because I never wanted to miss her lectures, she's an amazing professor and knows just how to hold your attention with interesting information and make you laugh too. Professor Finley is an adamant feminist who also respects the opinions of others. Just be ready to give a valid reason behind your beliefs. She challenges her students to challenge their own beliefs as well as those of their surrounding culture. MAKE SURE you do your reading quizzes. If you pay attention you'll be just fine.

She's funny and curses as promised. Must attend class because notes are word for word on what's on the test. One extra credit opportunity for 5 easy points. Made a B on all 3 tests and made an A in the class. She's great but if you have a different opinion from the rest of the class and her prepare to be verbally attacked by your classmates.

One of the greatest professors I've had! Very passionate about her work and doesn't try to force her views onto anyone. Lectures are very informative and she shows great videos with each one. Online quizzes are the only things graded, and there are 2 tests and a non-cumulative final. You don't even have to attend class if you read the textbook!

She is extremely passionate about the material she teaches. Treats everyone with respect and listens to outsider opinions without forcing her views on them. Read the material you're supposed to and the class is a breeze. Attendance not required but does give extra credit points on random days so you might as well go

Mrs. Finley is a great prof. You will pass as long as you do all the quizzes online. I completed everything online early, so for the last two months of class I didn't have anything to do but study for the test. She is extremely nice! I will also warn you that she is thicc so you might get distracted but stay focused fam!!!

Hands down the best professor I have ever had. Her lectures are amazing and very interesting. No, it's not just about feminism and 'women talk'. It covers a lot of different topics/issues that everyone should be aware of. Did I mention she's hilarious? Listen you will enjoy yourself AND you get to argue with people that have dumb opinions. Interesting class. Test material is in lectures so attend class. Random attendance checks. Weekly quizzes. You don't need the book or subscription, quizzes are easy to find. Tests are difficult and ask about small details like what examples she didn't talk about in class or specific statistics.

Prof Finley is one of the best teachers at UNCC. She has a big heart and bubbly personality that shines whether youre taking her online or in person. Her classes are super easy, interesting and entertaining! This 4000 level felt like a 2000. I had her for WGST 1101 in person as well and I loved her. Shes the reason I minored in WGST.

Class was online, but I love her as a professor and the class material was interesting, but there were powerpoint projects due almost every week. The workload isn't even a lot it's just you spend almost a week on a powerpoint just to turn around and have another one due next week. Other than that, the class is decent and she gives good feedback.

She's honestly amazing and I took her my freshman year. I am now a senior about to be graduating with a woman and gender studies minor. This was the first WGST class I took and I've been hooked since. Lectures are interesting and actually fun. She inspired me a lot and I recommend this class to literally everyone.

One of the coolest teachers at UNCC. lectures were funny. 1-3 quizzes every week. She allowed EC. Quizzes were taken at home but were timed. We had 2 assignments that were creating a short PowerPoint, but she is an easy grader so it was all good.

This is genuinely the only class I would volunteerily go to even if I wasn't taking the class. VERY little homework outside of just attending. The comments about her quizzes having tricky wording is true, but even at that you shouldn't make anything below a B in this class if you do the bare minimum.

Take her. Just do it and thank me later. She is amazing in her lecture, quick and to the point but still with a ton of helpful, useful and really interesting information. She is the kindest person and really strives to help her students in any way she can, truly not a bad thing to say about her. Excellent professor and really interesting class.

This class was very enjoyable. She has a great personality and a real passion for what she is teaching. Attend class, cause even when I did I struggled with the quizzes cause its very specific questions about things in videos and in class discussions.

Most of the coursework is online (and is quite easy), and attendance is through PollEverywhere. Even though it is easy to skip class if you desire, I definitely recommend attending when possible! She's engaging and incredibly respectful!

This class is easy. You don't even have to try to hard due the bare minimum and you're good. She gives out 1-3 assignment per weeks and there is projects but they're not difficult at all.

This class was really easy, and Professor Finley's lectures were really funny. The class requires a lot of group work, but the assignments are fun and engaging. Attendance is mandatory, and group projects can't be made up. She gives everyone opportunities to evaluate their group. As long as you do your work and show up to class, you'll do great.

Class is super based on in person group projects so be aware of that, usually they last a lecture period though. Grading is super lenient, and she's an overall really accomodating person. Good easy A if you're looking for that type of class. Was a hybrid online/in-person, and reading the textbook was boring af but quizzes weren't bad.

Professor Kelly is engaging and respectful. The coursework is mostly online and quizzes can be tricky, but attendance is worth it. For study prep, Unstuck study and other resources like ChatGPT are super helpful.

The class wasn't too hard. It was a lot of Google Slides assignments, and the quizzes relied heavily on the textbook.

Finley is a great professor. Her lectures are really engaging and she teaches the material well while also making you think critically about the topics. As many of the other comments say, there is a lot of group work technically but for the majority of them you have the option to do them by yourself. Overall I would definitely recommend her.

I think this class should be a requirement for all students. I truly enjoyed having her as a teacher—she's passionate about what she teaches, and that enthusiasm is contagious. Each unit was engaging and covered topics I genuinely enjoyed learning about. Her teaching style makes you want to learn more and stay involved throughout the course.

Highly recommend taking this class especially for a gen ed! Professor Finley is super funny and caring! She's happy to explain anything(including assignments) if you just ask! The assignments we did for the class were interesting and not your typical mind numbing project. The rubric is super helpful for every assignment!

Lectures are engaging, she's funny, passionate, and great at keeping the class interesting. Assignments were fun and creative, often encouraging deeper thinking. There was a project due every week if not every other week. A mix of individual and "group projects" (usually just one other person). Highly recommend taking this class.

Great teacher. Welcoming and considerate of her students. Engages class in the discussion. Grading is pretty fair. Leaves comments on Canvas explaining why she gave that grade. Follow the rubric closely, make sure that citations are correct. Teaching style made it easy to learn. Quizzes during each class. A good lecturer. Highly recommend.

Professor is very interesting and welcoming. I didn't like this class much because of the amount of projects you have to do. Another thing I didn't like is her saying that attendance is optional but there are attendance quizzes for extra credit, and then when I missed one of those quizzes, it really dropped my grade. Overall, good professor.

Two big projects, one midterm and one counts as your final exam.

Sooo many projects, which aren't hard at all but sort of time consuming. Lectures are very depressing, but I guess that's gender studies for you. She's very funny!
