Pray he doesn't write the exam !!!!
He is a very nice guy, as long as you are respectful. The only negative is that his exams are extremely challenging; specially the finals, if he writes them.
Great proffeseur and nice guy. One catch, his exams are born from the devil. Good luck!
Terrible teacher - does not respond to e-mails and doesn't know how to teach; too bad he is the only teacher who teaches this course
No Comments
large work load and he takes along time to correct exams and get grades back to you
Terrible teacher, very knowledgeable however not helpful at all, exams are long and not clear. Put extreme effort, final exam - teacher makes an error correction 45 minutes into the 3 hour exam, i started with that question and ended up failing the class.
Felt like I was back in grade school. Can't talk (too many chiefs/not enough indians)Knows his topic but just can't teach it.Makes it a point to trick you during exams.Answers and teaching materials are riddled with mistakes.Little or no feedback on your progress.Never laughed or smiled.Taught myself
He knows what he is talking about but when it comes to teaching, he lacks some skills. Always wants to trick you and abides by the principle of negative marking. Unfortunately, he is the only one teaching the class.... good luck
Horrible teacher!Shows the wrong way of doing things to see if anyone notices, good luck trying to remember which was the right way.Problems, solutions and exams are full of mistakes(oops,he likes to call them typos). He is very straightforward about his goal to fool you into making mistakes on the exam, often by testing material that was not taught.
To be fair to him, he is very knowledgeable and the topic is a difficult one. This course is also cumulative. However, he does not provide feedback for midterm and assignments. As a student, this is frustrating because we don't know where we have made mistakes or where we need to improve. He creates tricky and extremely long exams.
no comment
Pray he retires, otherwise teach yourself. And expect to wait about a month to get you mark.
disagree on all counts. got my A+ without getting angry or confused in the process. the material may be hard to understand but he explains it slowly, step by step. you can ask questions in class and he would take time to explain any particular point, but you have to think before you ask. don't get turned off by the dull coments.
Tough subject, and grumpy, uptight attitude is unneeded & unhelpful. The man knows his stuff, though, and his lectures were very useful (but exam/hmwk feedback lacking). Do the problems before class (& then repeatedly), and you'll get your B-. His exams are insanely tricky & long, but it's good prep for the brutal pro exams (CA, CFA, etc) to come..
man, this prof is from another planet. its weird; he's really strict, but when you talk to him, he's very cool, and polite. the course itself isn't that tough, but he makes it tough by throwing curveballs on the final. also, notoriously makes errors on the final which he then corrects an hour into the exam...
Not my favorite teacher. His style is confusing and negative. I have never studied so much in my life, and I pretty much came up short of a B- I'm sure. I won't find out till the end of August I'm sure, since he does not give timely feedback. If you're stuck with him, spend the hours studying. If you have a choice, take the mystery box.
He had lame jokes in class which distracted him from the real material. He would go off on tangents only to come back to the topic 2 minutes later. I guess it was his way of taking a break. Either way, he was very helpful during office hours and I got my B+ easily with hard work of course. He dresses from the 70's, very distracting.
He makes this class as difficult as possible, throwing every possible curve ball at you. If you want to do well and get that B- your first time around, do all the problems assigned plus the extras he gives you. Do them twice. I'm not kidding or exagerating. Ask anyone who has taken the class. He is your only choice so make the best of it.
this guy is a master of his field. he knows his stuff unlike most of the profs at concordia univ. he isnt easy, but its not wise to expect the last a/c'ing course to be a cake-walk,comeon guys u know that! i did all the assigned probs n handouts & i got an A, ooh yes, i got it first time around. just work hard, u'll definitely get ur B-'s. goodluck
Very clear and concise!
seemed unpleasantly at first, but make use of his office help, hes actaully v nice.key to success in this class is mastering his handouts, textbk problems too easy-make sure you UNDERSTAND the material bc its not about regurgitation of text in this class.for numbers oriented ppl, really not as bad as ppl say.work for it.i got an A+, first time around.
I've found it is hard to approch this professor; however, he knows the materials very well and explains well. He doesn't solve a lot of examples in the class, so you better study hard at home. The midterm was very difficult (average was 49) and the final was relatively easy.
hard to approach.does'nt have much time for undergraduate students.very bzzy with graduate students.Mid was very hard(aversge 49) but final was okay..does'nt have office hours...take him as a challenge and study much your own.

The instructor refused to give the solutions to the chapter problems on time. The solutions were given way after we passed a certain chapter. It was like shooting in the dark, because you never knew whether you did things correctly. The tone of his midterm corrections was rude and unprofessional...perhaps forgetting that he is here to teach, an
d a student failure is also a professor's failure. During classes, he often talks about his personal life. This is in no way instructive and rather irrelevant.
he is very slow at marking, he wont reply to any emails. he doesnt teach well, he didnt even show up for 4 classes.talks about his boring life, and snaps at u when u ask him questions. he is a lazy teacher that wont grade his students papers, and wont bother telling them why they did so bad.avoid and unless ur REDOING the course, DONT TAKE HIM!

Gets mad too easy. Snaps for yawning... very strict and doesn't make for a productive learning atmosphere. STAY AWAY
Explains very well just come to every class listen well you'll easily pass the class... try not to talk during his class because it really bothers him
Why still teaching? He cant teach and his section has higher failure rates compared to other class. Most students are taking this course at Mcgill to make life easier and able to understand the course accordingly. He is really strict and we cannot ask questions during class time. That is weird thing. Most of the time, his section is not full .
He is a very mean and unprofessional teacher, Dont take him!
It seems Kelly (masculine name) has suffered traumatic events during his lifetime which have rendered him incapable of human emotion. Instead he's in his own little world where he is the chocolate king. Ugly, boring, and rude, the only reason to take his class is to feel better about your life. An unfortunate waste of space.
WORST acco420 teacher ever, DO NOT TAKE it with him, you will teach yourself the course. Going to class is useless, he cannot teach if his life depended on it.
Useless professor, takes advantage of his tenure, does not prepare you for the CA program take, Gail Fayerman. Any good reviews posted about him is either from himself or his family, even then i don't think they like him too much. Got a b, my gpa prior totaking him is a 4.11. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. DISGRACE TO THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION AT JMSB.
One of the worse teacher ever. Please don't take him. The mid term was so bad that the average was 40%, like wow? And he makes like 3 extra class because he teaches too slow. I am rating for you guys' sake.
With this prof,I would suggest doing the problems in the book (w/o looking at the solutions) Most importantly, DO ALL THE PROBLEMS HE POSTS OVER & OVER!!! These are from past exams and are actually representative of what type of questions you should expect on the exam! The exam will be long and difficult but it isn't impossible if you're prepared!
WORST ACCOUNTING PROFESSOR IN JMSB! DO NOT TAKE HIM, I AM WARNING YOU! HIS WAY OF TEACHING IS SO CONFUSING, HE'S NOT APPROACHABLE, HE'S RUDE, ARROGANT, ANNOYING AND TOOK A MONTH TO RETURN OUR MIDTERMS AND THE AVERAGE WAS A 40%, HE DIDNT CURVE, WE COULDN'T DROP CUZ HE GAVE IT LATE, AND ABOUT 1/3 OF THE CLASS FAILED! HE SHOULDN'T BE TEACHING!
His midterm was long, but fair. He made up for the midterm, with a shorter final. He gives the class 'problem handouts' with full solutions, which he tells you will be tested and are.I don't know many who would do this. He also provided us with extra credit opportunity. He will challenge you, so go visit him in his office, he wants to help.good luck
Go to class, study, do the examples, and you'll end up with a great grade like me (A) a shorter exam would be helpful, but if you actually study, you'll do just fine. I am guessing that all the bad ratings were from the losers that failed...Stop crying, and expecting easy exams...
His exams are very difficult but you can prepare by doing all the problems he posts! This class is not about memorizing, if u don't understand what you're doing you will fail! His midterm was brutal but he counted the final for 90% and so i came out with an "A" (first time doing the course)
I don`t want people to think that two good reviews erase what an incompentent prof he is.He uses intimidation as a method of teaching and if our mid-term avg in two sections is a low fail, then this speaks volumes about the prof, not his students. My suggestion would be to avoid if possible.
Comments B4 midterms, some students just don't get it. Ttough teacher, DEMANDS class participation instead of zombies. If you react, he reacts. Very clear explanations. Wants you to learn. And if you find it hard (exams, homework, etc). Think about this, if you DON'T know your subject, do you honestly expect to manage a cie's accounting dept?
Horrible, horrible, horrible, didn't show up to class twice during a summer semester, didn't answer his e-mail, complained all the time about how he was tired and his back hurt. He put me to sleep. Didn't understand anything he was saying, his accent is so incredibly strong, and it's not like I haven't been through my share of immigrant teachers.
People who complain about Kelly are the same type of people who do the following: 1) slack off, 2) skip class, and/or 3) expect the teacher to do all the work. I thought he did an excellent job with his lectures, especially for a course that can become extremely difficult over the course of the semester.
During the first class, he scared me so much. He's like, don't yawn in my class, you'll have an assignment due every class, etcetc.. and he just seems mean, but once you get to know him, you see that he's mean and strict because he cares about his students and he explains well enough. However, he should answer his emails...
never reply e-mail; never start class on time; very mean.
Don't yawn in front of him. He cares about the good performance of his students. Doesn't answer emails fast or start class on time but he's a decent teacher. If you work hard enough you'll get your B-
Text book is your best bet, Horrible person. He knows his stuff but he will not help you outside of class, and if he doesnt like your question in class he humiliates you. You have homework every week with him, doesnt answer emails. HATE HIM
Although a bit of a strong personality at first, he is an excellent teacher. Knows his material well, etc. You must however do the problems on a weekly basis for his class, if not you will not get the most out of it. If you do that and attend, he will be good for you.
A strong personality. Really, really encourages class participation. Actually participate and get involved and he will be a great mentor to you. Funny guy too! He really cares about his students.
Horrible personality. Will yell at you for yawning in his class among other things. However really encourages participation and is a great teacher if you can look past his lack of social/people skills. I would take him again
Amazing teacher. Explained so well. Rough at first, but eases as the semester progresses. Would take him again in a heart beat!
This prof is unbearable. He forces attendance, discourages questions and grades harshly. Those people who gave him good reviews must have taken him in the summer when they were allowed cheat sheets. After the midterm, it's like he gave up on giving decent lectures. I would not recommend him. However, his class avg were higher than the other prof's
He is not bad at teaching and explaining the material. He seems to grade fairly. However, he is quite lazy. I took him in Fall. He posted the midterm marks about 20 minutes before the DISC drop deadline, and he posted our final grades the day before classes started for the winter semester. Nobody failed.
He is tough but he is one the best teacher at Concordia. At first, I was scared of him and thought I would fail this course. However,I found he was extremely helpful and a fair marker. I got A- without trying my best.
He has extremely tough midterms and finals. But he actually teaches in class and does problems constantly. If you show up to every class and pay attention you should do well. His teaching method is good and he drops hints on whats on the midterm and exam. Don't yawn in his class or he will yell at you. If you get past his social skills, hes good.
this guy is so harddd , i would never take him again.. to tough ,get out while you can ! tough marker, kicks you out if you yawn i mean common what is this!!
I have nothing positive to say about this guy. He is rude, unreasonable and will belittle you. He dismisses any questions you have and makes you feel stupid for asking them. Do not take his classes! He only works through the book and verbally goes through the questions and does not use any lecture slides. He is very hard to learn from.
Look past his social skills and you will see how he's so good at what he does. Yes, you can't yawn & sometimes asking irrelevant questions will annoy him but it doesn't change the fact that he knows what he is doing. He truly cares about his students and expects only the best from his students.
He comes off strict in the first lesson, but as long as you read the book and follow what he does you'll be fine. He tests you exactly what he teaches you. Overall a very good teacher. Definitely not a bad teacher, do not believe the 2/5 rating!
He blasts a diff student every class. He is very miserable/rude, seems everything annoys him blasts students for no reason. Go to his office he will yell at you, telling you he has no time to go away. He is mean person I watched him all semester blast people; doesn't understand respect, has no manners, unhelpful.Should be embarrassed by his actions
BEST TEACHER I EVER HAD... HES SO HELPFUL. ANSWERS EMAILS. ALWAYS ON TIME. HIGHEST MID TERM AVERAGE OF ALL PROFS.. HES A MUST TAKE
Very good professor!
Very angry when he answers students' questions. We knew he looked at this website and we hope he can see this comment. We really wish he can smile to answer friendly even if our questions are stupid because we don't know so we asked. DO NOT YAWN IN HIS CLASS, HE WILL YELL AT YOU FOR SURE. Very stressful to have his class
You can tell he is a great Prof knows his stuff. However it seems that he causes way to much stress to his students.
Great Professor. Crappy Human Being.
Very rude.
No matter how much time I put into studying, I still failed the class twice. Exams are on another level of difficulty, don't waste your time practicing from the book.
He is old fashioned. Keep your mouth shut and pay attention, he is big on respect. He is very approachable unless you are a f*ckboy, so dont be a f*ck boy. Do all the homeworks, the exam is hella hard.
Do not believe the bad ratings. He is probably one of the best professors I have ever had. He explains the course material in a way that clarifies all concepts. He also really cares about his students. He wants everyone to succeed, and will go out of his way for that to happen.
By far my best accounting professor. Explains very clearly, goes through a lot of exercisesproblems in class, exams are not that hard if you actually put in the time to study, not a hard class, however you should always attend class!
very good professor. doesn't put up nonsense. expects students to be respectful and to work hard. does not deserve bad rap -he wants students to take the course seriously.
The class is quite heavy, but let's be honest no one walks into ACCO320 expecting it to be a breeze. If you complete the practice problems assigned and listen in class you should do well. Not the most interesting lecturer but well respected and he definitely knows his accounting. Final is tough, do well on the midterm!
He is very respectful and really well knowledge!
Kelly is the coordinator so he gives out bonus marks on the midterm and final for coming to class. Teaching wise he is very boring, trying to pay attention an entire 3 hour class is brutal. He explains very well over email though, would recommend for the bonus marks but go to a crash course to actual learn the material.
I dont know how Kelly managed to take off my last rating of him but I will do it again. Do not take him. Believe me, there are poor teachers and then there is him. I am not saying this because I got a bad grade becasue I didnt but I can say its no thanks to him. He is nice ish by email, nice ish 1-1 and rude ish in class. Not approachable.
I did not enjoy having him as a professor at all. His lectures are very boring and hard to follow. I learnt everything from the tutorial classes. He will kick students out of his class if he sees you yawning. When I emailed him a question, he said I should address him appropriately and not like some stripper walking down st Catherine. Real rude guy
Let's be honest! A lot of people do not like him because he can be harsh sometimes. However, he explains very well and provides excellent handouts. I just read his chapters resume and handouts and got an A. But you have to do all the recommended exercises and the extra ones he provides. If you don't mess around you are good. PRACTICE AND ASK!!!
awful
His assignments make you learn and are similar to what will be on the midterm. He is clear in what he wants in the exam, can sometimes come a bit harsh. One thing though with Zoom he will take off points if you don't log off at the end and will take a screenshot of students who stay online....
He is very strict but he is a great professor. He expects his students to participate. So if no one responds to him at all, he will end the session earlier. All the in-class problems preps you well for the exam. Assignments may be tricky so start as soon as you get it. I recommend reading chapters ahead of classes and doing the suggested problems.
If I am grading professor Kelly based on his teaching quality, then I might give him a 3/5; but his attitude towards to students makes me want to give a 0. I have seen many good professors are able to do well in both, so I hope people stop defending him just because he is fair at teaching. For the professor who wants A+ students, be an A+ professor
DO NOT talk in his class!! Be sure to attend his class and be quiet so you will get some extra marks. Midterm and final are tricky so be careful.
As a prof, being kind and caring to your students is the bare minimum you can do. I got berated for no reason after asking him to clarify something. Why would you make a student feel bad about asking you to explain something they didn't fully understand?
The worst accounting professeur- the lecture is really boring and not easy to follow . The professor is not nice if you come to the class late or even yawn at the class. The only good part is he always answers your email .save your time and money!
The worst professor for accounting. The lecturers are so boring and hard to follow . He is not nice when you come to class late and attendance is mandatory . The exam is super hard . The only good part is he always answers email . Save your time and money and run .
Would not recommend.
His exams are brutal!
Despite what's overwhelmingly written, Professor Gheyara is one of the best Accounting professors I have had. He teaches the material very thoroughly and is a very kind man. He values respect very much and will return it if shown. The final exam was quite long, but we were prepared well for it through the in class problems and homework.
Ready to teach yourself in this class. His exams are tough but the in class exercise are similar to the exam.
Consistently went over the lecture time. Very strict grader and harsh in the classroom. Had the most unreasonable final exam I have ever seen: 50 MCQs abcde or f (none of the above: write the answer). All calculation questions that could have been long-form in-and-of themselves. We did not have room to actually solve them. Still traumatized.
He gave no breaks and was excessively harsh, even refusing to publish notes (we had to email him for them). The final exam (he's the coordinator) was an abomination: 50 complex MCQs each requiring lengthy calculations, made harder due to the time constraint. I didn't receive this grade until my first fall semester class, which stressed me out.
The most unapproachable professor I've had during my undergrad. He kicks students out of class for minor things, like blowing their nose. His lectures do not adequately prepare students for the final.
