Is an awesome Chem 2 lab teacher. Labs almost always finished early and was clear on what you were doing.
Keenan is the best professor in the science department at this school. She tried to make her lectures interesting.
One of the smartest people i have ever been taught by. Her classes though you get a lot of notes are extremely organized and flow very well. This is a professor i will definiatly take again in the future.
she is awesome. very smart, nice, funny, and clear on potentially confusing things. thanks!
One of the nicest ladies. Hard class but she will spend the one on one time with you to if u need it. Good class.
Takes lectures on a whole new level. Funny, intellectual, sincere and compassionate. She is always on your side and makes you feel like you belong there. She is a role model for many and Stockton is lucky to have her as a faculty member. If i could I would take Keenan again....
Being a senior and having tons of proffesors in my life, I can honestly say she is the greatest teacher EVER! Her courses are quite hard, but she gives tons of clear notes, great lectures and grades extemely fair. No attendance policy, and office hours are very helpful. You will not be dissapointed
One of the best professors I've ever had. She made Stockton an enjoyable place to go. I've learned so much from her and know that I can go to her for anything.
Best professor taken at stockton. She helps students with everything they need, and covers everything you'll need to know in the future with great teaching techniques and clear notes.Courses are not easy and require lots of time, but her teaching, humor and outside of class convos made it enjoyable
Simply a great professor. She gives tons of notes in lecture, but tests are right from them. She really cares about her students and I recommend her for your preceptor! The lab was challenging but GREAT- Lab has time limits you must meet- dont stay past 5pm like we did :P Great classes all in all.
VERY difficult class, but she was VERY understanding and helpful whenever i had a problem... dry sense of humor, but if you pay close attention she's really funny, in an unassuming sort of way :)
This professor was absolutely great. She was always helpful and the lab was interesting (difficult at times, but interesting). My only gripe is that her requirements for reports are quite vague. Be prepared to write formal reports for this class.
Good teacher but her study guides for tests do not prepare you at all. Very little of what is on the study guide is on the test :( plus in her fill in the blank questions it is very hard to figure out what the actually question is that she is trying to ask
she's a nice and friendly teacher, but she expects way too much from this GNM. a lot of the students were not science majors and she didn't really take that into consideration. the final was cumulative, which was brutal. she lets us do this paper thats worth 150 pts. but she grades really hard. the practice problems are nothing like the real test.
study guide she gives does not help at all. u really have to study ur entire notes. basically the questions from the study guides are not usually on the test. to get some points she puts you in groups to do a presentation on a topic she chooses. there's not much else you can do to raise your grade. she sure hell doesn't curve. the class is BRUTAL
Greatest teacher ever. Its biochem so dont expect it to be easy! The study guides worked ok for me as well as her notes, i barely read the book.TAKE HER!
Great Professor and very helpful. It is a hard class and you really have to work for your grade. Group presentation questions are difficult and often not explained so you have to do your research and really understand what is going on in the reactions.
Horrible Prof-She can not teach, gives pages & pages of notes-no examples, no clarity. Then a practice exam-That will totally mislead you. Do not take her!! Heed my advice!!!Gameplayer. Remember nice people will also take your money!! Take the class elsewhere and transfer the credit in if possible.
Very misleading professor. Apparently she copies her notes directly out of books, and often gives wrong answers to study guide and in-class questions. She doesn't know what she is doing, that is why she writes notes so fast and doesn't allow time for questions. When asked a question she often skirts the issue so she doesn't have to answer it.
BIOCHEM IS ALOT OF INFO BUT SHE GIVES YOU EVERY THING SO ITS NOT NEED TO WORRY HER TEST ARE FAIR AND SHE GRADES EASY AND EVERY ONE GETS AN A OR B IN THE PRESENTATION IF YOU STUDY WHICH IS A MUST YOU WILL BE FINE SHE IS SO NICE AND SHE IS NOT FUNNY BUT SHE TRIES TO BE AND THAT HILARIOUS WHEN SHE DOES, TAKE THE CLASS IF YOU CAN!!
Awesome teacher! Its Biochem so you cant expect the class to be easy; but her notes are very helpful. Lott of memorization!! But if you just study the notes you will do great on her tests!!
I think Kelly Keenan is the best professor in the country. I took her for biochemistry, Adv. biochemistry and biochemistry lab methods. Although the course was very intense and involved a lot of memorization, she makes it easier by giving out practice problems. If you earn points on the in-class assignments then you had an option to skip a question
Very INTENSE class, you take a ton of notes, but if you study hard you will do great. her tests are HARD, but she gives a lot of partial credit. VERY helpful and NICE. Understanding in giving tests at diff. times for students. 1 final presentation at the end to help boost your grade. Hardly used the book, straight from notes and problems. love her!
Very good lab professor. She simplifies the labs by cutting out unnecessary parts so it's not a complete waste of your time. Only have to write half a page abstracts for each lab. She does make you prepare for one lab during the semester that you have to answer questions for in a group but it's not that bad. Definitely recommend taking her for lab.
Very nice lady..tries to keep the class interested and is pretty clear with teaching and examples. Tests however are VERY hard. She does give a lot of partial credit but problems on the test are much harder and in depth then examples given in class. Mandatory homework done online which was helpful. Definitly not a walk in the park class!
boring...she's very precise, it's kinda annoying
She was very sweet and down to the point, I enjoyed the class as much as I could enjoy organic chem. She grades relatively easy and cares about everyones grades.I'd recommend her.
Dr. Keenan is one of my favorites at Stockton. Very sweet and always willing to help. I enjoyed Biochem lab methods. It is not an easy class. There are a lot of lab reports and bench work but you learn a lot if you're willing to put in the work.
Make no mistake this class is not a walk in the park. But if you're willing to work hard and study a lot, you should do fine. I honestly have never studied so hard for a class at Stockton. The tests are very challenging. I'd study for hours and hours and still end up with a so-so grade. However, the class is rewarding and I did learn a lot!
As a bio major, I have no problem putting in the work and effort to do well. With this woman, it's a waste of your time. She is NOT helpful. She pretends to be very nice but she is absolutely not. I struggled throughout this course despite hours of studying and seeking help from her. I feel like she is a biased professor. BE CATIOUS!
Dr. Keenan is very clear on her expectations of the class. Her grading is very fair but she does seem to make mistakes often. Study as hard as you possibly can and you will get an A in her class. She is there for help in her office if needed. Biochemistry is hard so be prepared and study the notes NOT the book. Do NOT read a word in the book.
I have taken Professor Keenan for Biochem and now am in Advanced BC. It is not an easy subject, but if you study/memorize the notes, you will be fine. She is an amazing professor and has high expectations. She also is a good mentor and will help with any questions that you may have pertaining to the subject or the field. I hope to have her for lab.
There are 3 exams, a short paper, and a presentation. The material on each exam is cannot be studied in one night. It's a ridiculous amount of information to take in a remember, but she grades the tests pretty fair. The paper and presentation are graded harder than the tests though. I got a B-, but I put a lot of effort into this class
I took Biochem, Advanced biochem and lab methods with this teacher. Hands down she is the best professr at stockton college. She is knowledgeable on everything biochem related and she always makes sports references. Highly recommended
One of the greatest professors I've had the pleasure of taking. Biochemistry is not an easy subject. She makes tests tougher on purpose, so you can apply yourself with the material you learned/memorized. If you put the time in and seek help if needed there is no reason for anyone to do bad in biochemistry.
So nice and great class. Didn't move too fast through material, gave lots of examples for each type of problem.
Wonderful teacher! Clear, organized notes- writes on board so notes are easy to follow. Posts practice exams and answers before tests. Do them and study your notes and you will be prepared for the exams. One group presentation at the end of semester- make sure you follow her guidelines and you will do great. Great sense of humor as well!
In biochemistry right now. Kelly is so nice and funny! Honestly, she is probably the best professor at Stockton. Biochem is a hard subject but I enjoy going to class. She forces you to take notes because she handwrites them on the board (no powerpoints)! The tests are hard, but with a little studying, you will get an A in the class. JUST TRY!
Chemistry is a hard subject no matter who teaches it. But Dr. Keenan is so awesome, if she sees you struggling she will help you. She's so crystal clear on everything she's explaining. I do wish she would put more examples and not teach new material that is not on the test before the test. Extremely helpful. Don't hesitate going to her office hours
hardest teacher ive ever had. couldnt stand her. she would do examples from the book not even her own? and if we asked her to do another example shed be like lets move on even though we clearly didnt get it. examples were a million times easier than the test. i retook chem with earl benjamin and got an A, go with him if his class is still open.
Amazing professor, memorize notes though, lots of detail on the test, if you study hard youll get at least something in the B range.
This is the hardest class I've ever taken. She lectures the entire class, & it's hard to keep up with so much information. She's quiet and you can barely hear what she's saying. Her exams cover way too much information at one time and it's almost impossible to study for them. She does not put grades in the computer. I would not recommend this class
She dumps a bunch of information at you each class, so make sure you write everything down (all fair game on an exam). Her tests make you think but they aren't bad if you keep up with the notes. Do her study questions. Show up to class. She is really nice and willing to help anyone that is willing to put in the effort.
Professor Keenan is a great person.. BUT as far as teaching goes, she should through in the towel. All she does is slap problems on the board and if we don't get them she simply chuckles and moves on. She doesn't believe in reviewing for exams and refuses to answer questions. Grading is fair (ish) but you're destined for a maximum C in the course
She's a very sweet person but her lectures will make you fall asleep. Group work counts as a grade so attendance will help and the tests are pretty hard. Just not my favorite teaching style.
Dr. Keenan's exams are difficult and mentally fatiguing, as anything written in the piles of lecture notes is fair game. The group assignments will become annoying. Best advice is recopying the notes; a long and painful process, yet it needs to be done in order to perform well on her exams.
Her lectures are a little dull. Beware of corny jokes. She is a great teacher. I'm taking her for diseases and I'm really looking forward to it
Biochemistry: the hardest class that I've taken so far at Stockton. However, Dr. Keenan is there for you every step of the way. Go to her office hours, complete the practice problems, write down EVERYTHING she puts on the board, & recopy ALL the notes in preparation for exams. The tests are mentally fatiguing, but if you study, you'll be victorious
It was clear this professor wanted nothing to do with answering questions. I went after class and no help was given to further explain or prepare me for the exam other then what was already taught. I absolutely hated this class. She is a tough grader and is not clear when teaching. Had to retake her class with a different professor of course.
I already took ap chem in highschool so taking chem I was basically a review for me and everything came pretty easy after she reviewed it. Goes over lots of examples but you do need to put in work. Not a fly by class where you can wing it. you will not pass. but fair grader. tests can be long. you learn a lot i would recommend if you are not lazy
Probably the worst professor I had. All she cares about is biochem. Horrible teacher. I can't emphasize it enough. Dr. B is the professor to take for Chem 1. She doesn't care about any students. Don't go to her office hours it's a waste of your time might as well go to tutoring center or to another Chem prof for help.
Keenan is a very nice woman, mellow and funny. She makes sure to summarize everything clearly that she's said on the board. You will miss a lot of important details if you don't come, bc the same details on the board aren't in the book or Powerpoint. Tests are relatively tough and you will do a LOT of group work.
Professor Keenan is a great professor. The material is not particularly difficult, but the sheer volume of it is. I took her for every class she teaches. She is always accessible during office hours. Don't bother buying any of the books. Tests are the main component of your grade. She also writes beautiful letters of recommendation.
Kelly is an awesome professor. She cares so much and is awesome at giving credit where credit is due; partial credit for trying! Chem is an extremely tough course but she makes sure all material is covered and to the right level of difficulty. Loveee Kelly
Very sweet, does her best to make it easy to understand, definitely wants her students to succeed. It's definitely recommended to go to class unless you have someone to help you with notes, because the slides she posts aren't her main lecture, they're just supplemental. The book wasn't necessary. Lots of group work.
Nice lady, but her lectures are all over the place, and she's extremely unorganized. Her tests are also very all over the place, and she throws major curve balls.
I took Keenan for Chemistry for Life Science 2, she explained everything so well and simply to make sure we understood everything. The material was very hard but that isn't her fault. She gave partial credit on every test and does group work often, which is why I was able to do well in her class.
Keenan is amazing! I had her for chem 1 & was so lucky to have had her. She writes everything on the board so make sure to copy EVERYTHING! Gives many examples on the board to make sure all students understand. Has weekly hw on smartworks & gives you unlimited tries to get correct answer. Allows groups to work together to get EC on tests.
Great professor for Biochemistry. As others have previously said, study by rewriting the notes and you should do well. You can always go to her for help if you need it. Don't expect a good grade if you are not willing to put in the work. Biochemistry is an upper-level course and should be treated as such.
Great professor, I don't really like not knowing what I should write but she tells you that what she writes on the board you write. She goes into detail and is very clear. Her grading criteria is very good includes, test, groupworks, homework and extra credit and if your not a good test taker the group works definitely bring up your grade so much.
Chemistry is a daunting subject but don't feel discouraged! Dr. Keenan will help you. Her lectures could feel long sometimes, but she always does many sample problems and makes other people go up to the board. A portion of your grade is homework and group work, so make sure to come to class on those days and really work!
Made chemistry very easy to understand and gave us multiple opportunities to raise our grades. Did group work at least once a week and at least one long homework assignment each week. Tests covered EVERYTHING discussed during the lecture. Overall, it was a great course taught by an excellent professor.
Dr. Keenan is an extremely nice lady, but chem is a tough subject. She gives multiple opportunities for you to raise your grade, like extra credits on exams, and group work. For most of lecture she will do practice problems on the board and have students do problems on the board which, for some students can be stressful. Overall a good professor.
Super hard grader, nicest lady ever though. Her class sucks, she doesn't go very into detail though. She moves quickly and has hard exams. would look for another professor If you want less homework.
Biochem its hard as hell but she gives you everything you need. Groupwork is hard but brings up your grade. Tests are EXTREMELY DETAILED but word for word from her notes. never touched the textbook but you should go to class because her notes on the board are basically the tests. presentation at the end is pretty simple. Notes are easy to follow.
She's a super tough grader. I usually never receive anything below a 90 on lab reports. Even though she only makes you do abstracts like 90% of the time, she's still extremely picky about it. Not too much work since you only have like 1-2 full lab reports, but since those abstracts are basically your whole grade, maybe choose a diff professor
Dr. Keenan was so nice; a wonderful woman. However, her class was the hardest class I have ever taken. She purposely makes it hard so as to help you in the future, but if this class is not a requirement for you I recommend taking a different class. The group presentations are really the only thing that brings up your grade.
Im a science major & this class is for people with high school chem & bio knowledge. False, this is the hardest class I have ever taken. It relies so much on group work & her exams are unfair. She says there's 10 questions, yeah with part a, b, c ,d, etc. Taking it online now is worse with 50 open ended questions with 2 hours to do so, impossible!!
This was an extremely hard class for me. The test were lengthy and mostly charts that you had to fill in. Moving to online during Covid-19 made this class even harder. I have not taken a microbio course yet but this is what Id compare it too. Other assignments included group work and article summaries. Work is graded exceeding the 100% mark.
She gave lots of bonus problems and chances to raise your grade after exams. If you take notes and do practice problems before exams, you will do fine. She likes to do group works once a week and I spent around an hour a week on homework which was only assigned once a week. The course is made up of 3 exams, group work, homework, and a final.
very specific on what she wants. Answers emails pretty quickly. Teaches a hard lab. Shes alright
Worst professor ever. lectures were awful and the answers to the examples were always wrong and she wouldnt correct it. I would never recommend her to anyone. she accused the entire class of academic dishonesty. I don't understand how she still teaches; should be fired when an average of an exam is around 40% and has been that way for years
Mannnn, you guys were not joking yalls reviews. Her exams are 10 questions but with parts to them, and it's honestly so much. Her group work is important, so make sure you participate or else you won't get a good grade. Also, her lectures are heavy, she teaches so much in one sitting. She's okay but not the best.
AVOID THIS PROFESSOR! Thought it would be an interesting class and filled a requirement... I liked bio and chem in high school... but MAN this prof is BORING during her lecture, and just RUDE to the whole class. But her TESTS?!? She starts off with 10 questions. but they're 5 parts, all open-ended, and NOT OPEN NOTEBOOK.
kelly was the worst teacher I have ever taken. notice I didn't say professor Keenan because she doesn't teach. I would never recommend her to anyone. she accused the entire class of academic dishonesty. I don't understand how she still teaches; should be fired when an average of an exam is less than 40% and has been that way for years
Umm, yeah no I would suggest not take her. She literally accused our class of scoring low on her exams. For the first exam, none of the questions were like the lecture, so someone recommended her to give us a "summary slide" to help us on the exam, but it really did not. I love the class, but I wish someone else would teach the course than Keenan.
Taken online due to COVID, had to teach myself everything because she refused to use ZOOM. Took the class with a good background and was able to ace the first two exams by myself through studying/teaching myself. The last 2 exams I did poorly because I did not know the info and she only gave us ppts to learn with. She did not help at all when asked
Biochemistry is a hard class and most people in my class were on the pre-health track. Attendance is not mandatory but trust me, miss a class and you'll feel like you've missed a lot. Take notes in class & review material. Dr. Keenan wants you to do well and succeed, if you don't help yourself, who will? Work hard for this class @ pre-health majors
If you want to preserve your GPA or hoping to increase it... DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER. Take organic chemistry lab with someone else. "Lectures" are boring, not intriguing at all in the slightest capacity. She is extremely hard to hear; I was standing standing about 3 feet away from her.
The worst "professor" I have ever taken. awful.
Be prepared to not know your grade, No updates well past the midterm date whatsoever. Do NOT take for a Tuesday/Thursday course. There will never be enough time to complete your 6 Exams throughout the year because there is a lecture after the test. Lectures were 1.5 Chapters ahead of exam content. Lots of errors in calculations and powerpoints
Multiple tests throughout the year which over half of the class failed every week. She would show distribution of scores of each test with well over half of the class earning less than a 60 on the test. No curves ever, even when highest score is a 92.
Not sure why there are bad reviews. Biochem is a hard topic, so obvi she can't baby you through the content. However, I think she fully draws conclusions on the topics, gives great feedback for exams, and is very available outside of class. I can 100% say she cares about each student as an individual, and is a great person and professor.
Stay away for your own good. Sad that she has even the title of being a professor.
She is fine. I wish I had taken someone else. She is a strict grader. Her exam is difficult. I can't understand what she's saying since her voice is so tiny. I will not be taking her again.
Dr. Keenan is a great lab professor! This is the first lab ever, that I have not been completely confused in. She explains the labs very well and will provide any help that is needed. She does not require full lab reports to be written for orgo lab, just an abstract. She is a tough grader, but if you understand the material you will be fine.
Very particular about what she expects from abstracts (very tough grader). But if you learn from your mistakes and ask questions, you'll be fine. She is a very nice lady once you stop being intimidated by her.
The class was tough. The professor wasn't clear, and grading, especially for abstracts, was strict. The final was hard but manageable. You had to pay attention and stay organized. Better instructions and feedback would have helped, but I still learned a lot by pushing through the challenges.
Prof.Keenan was the best. She teaches at a speed that everyone in the class can understand and makes sure everyone is certain with the material before moving on. She is a very sweet lady and doesn't overload you with work. She is a very understanding professor and I would definitely recommend.
As a person, she is very likable and nice. Labs are explained well. The abstracts, however, are only graded out of 10 points. It's impossible to get an 10/10 because she'll always find something wrong and take off an entire point, even for the smallest thing. For me, I would rather take someone else to get a better grade, even if it was more work.
I hated the structure of this class. The weekly homeworks and group works are different from tests. HER TESTS ARE SO HARD. Would not recommend taking her for chem 1.
I know that Chemistry can be a difficult subject to learn, but Professor Keenan is one of the recommended professors to take for Chem 1. Her lectures are good so make sure to write important stuff down for exams. Also gives out unlimited attempts on each question for every homeworks. The only downside is that her exams are tough, so study a lot!
