She didnt give me credit for a homework assignment because i didnt staple it. I HATED HER, and would never recomend her. But if that is the way u learn more power to ya =)

Moves very quickly and explains thoroughly only the first time around. If you ask a question, she explains something completely different that has nothing/little to do with what you asked. She tends to favor the guys in the class and calls on them often
im guessing calculus is a hard class no matter who you take and with that said, im glad i took it with prof klassen. she was very organized, offered extra credit, and was always willing to help (including an extra sat am session before our final).

Absolutely no compassion for anyone. I took her during the summer, not the smartest thing. Kept similar schedule and work load as regular semister. Average 14-20 pages of homework to be done each week. She did favor the male students and failed them.
Im taking her class right now & it seems alright. The first test consisted of 8 problems w/a,b,c... sub-problems which r from previous hw/class work. Expects students 2 read the book & is not too great w/lectures cuz lack explanation.. offers extra credit
Frequently will call on students to answer questions. She does not do a good job of EXPLAINING the material and piles on a LOT of HW. If you can, take CROCOLL or RILEY instead.

Easy subject, but she somehow makes the test difficult, by taking points off wherever she pleases. If you are a female, you will be ignored, she favors the males and constantly calls on them (extra credit for those who she calls on).Condenscends toward her students.

She's definately willing to help if you ask her. However, like the others have said, her tests are extremely hard and there's too much group work. She stands firm to her decisions and leaves no room for leeway. Only take her if you like to do every single problem from each section. It's not that she's not fair, it's that she's too fair!
This teacher is a challenge. Only those who are lazy and not will to work hard do poorly in her class. I left that class knowing how to do everything she taught. She is nice and willing to help. If you really want to learn, I would take her class.
I took her during the summer, so the work was obviously intense. She did a great job at keeping the class involved, and trying to make it as fun as possible. She doesn't make it easy, so if you're a coaster, you might want to think twice.

Hard tests. never forgiving when it comes to make up anythings. i had to take my mom to a chemo appointment and she wouldnt let me make up my tests. I asked her for help she told me to get a tutor...Dont take the class....

She's a difficult teacher. She expects 12 hours outside of class time per week for you to get a C! She has a kind of weird personality, she picks on guys, and seems to completely ignore any female in the class. It's strange, and not worth the amount of work that you have to do in order to do well in her class.

You will like her if you love calculus. She explains every step when teaching new ideas and solving problems. She also makes the class interesting and fun (you'll be suprised!). This class depends very much on 150 A, so if you were good at that, this class shouldn't be hard. If you love calculus, take her class. Period.

wow this teacher is lame!! i'm taking her this semester but i walked into class, had no clue what was going on, and just stopped going. her methods of teaching are very questionable. she likes to have students who she knows don't understand the material come to the front of the class and do the problem. isn't very clear with the lessons. I had Kelly for Algebra, and Math 141. She was awesome. Rack up those extra credit points people--they help. Don't whine when she calls on you and asks you to do the problem--go up there, try, and get your point! True, you have to hit the math lab 3-5 hours a week--but in the end, you learn. Yes it is true this class is super hard. However, Kelly really cares about the students who care about the class. If you arent going to care then she really has no time for you. If you go in and talk to her, she will give you the benefit of the doubt! She is soo hard to dislike because she is nice but the class is hard!
i took her on the full i was crying from her class evan that i love the math and my majer is math. we started the class 40 person and we ended 12 person. she let us use the cal only on the last test. talking about the final it was so hard it was 65 Q. i did pass the class with c but take advice from me do not take her.

Sitting in her class is a trial on its own and the workload is somewhat heavy and difficult.But if you do ever ask her personally for assistance on the material she is EXTREMELY helpful and will take the time to help you understand it.
She definitely knew her stuff, but when it came to teaching it... she scared me. Very pretentious! She belittles you in front of class, and makes you feel like an... you know. Math is a tough subject for me, if it wasn't I would have toughed her out cause watching her sarcasm can be entertaining in some sadistic sense.
The worst class I've ever taken!!! She gives ridiculous standards that impossible to meet. If you were to get an A in another math class, that will get you a C in this class. If you were to get a B in another math class, you will fail this.

Great professor. She is strict with work, but other than that cool. Her teaching style is great. She makes sure the class understands a topic before moving on. Would recommend her to anyone.

Professor Klassen is one of the best math instructors I ever had, and what she tough has helped me enormously at the university. Be responsible, do your homework and you will be fine. I unquestionably suggest her as a math professor.
if you are an A student,then don't take this class.Even if you did right a whole 2 page problem,but you missed a single notation you will get ZERO credit. Same in exams.She LOVES to pick on and make fun of students.If english is not your first language then wish your reading to be really good, because you are also taking READ 142F along MATH150B.
If you plan on having an easy semester do not take this prof. Tons of HW every day, even on the weekends! If you dont understand something its better that you try to learn on your own... she isn't very helpful!
So I took calc1 over the summer with clahane, and did not learn a damn thing. I thought I would struggle, but when I came to her class, I understood pretty much every 1 of her lectures. Yes, there is h.w. for every class meeting, but not bad, only 10-20 probs. As long as you dont miss any assigns. and study a little for tests, you will do fine
She is an inconsiderate professor. Had to miss class for a bone marrow biopsy and she told me I couldn't drop my lowest test score bc my hw was not complete for that day. Expect 3hrs of hw every class period. Her test questions are tricky. Don't bother asking for help outside of class. She'll just tell you to pay for a tutor. **DO NOT TAKE HER**
On the first day of class I was completely furious about how rude she was to a student. It was bad. However, overtime I noticed that she wasn't trying to be mean, its just that she has no sense of humor and the reason why she picks on her students is because she is insecure. If you get on her good side, then the class doesn't seem that bad.

Every day I would go into class with anxiety because you never know when she is going to call on you, and once she does call on you she forces you to answer or else you have to leave the classroom. If you can read and learn on your own go for it. If not I highly suggest you find another professor. Final exam was today, no one finished and i'm pretty sure we all failed.

I first had Ms.Klassen for Math 40, and again for 150B. Same deal for both; act like an adult and you'll be treated like one. Show up on time, shut your phone off, and pay attention like a proper college student. Leave your excuses in the sand box with the children and do the work. No easy outs here, just a place to learn math.
If you can work very quickly and accurately you will get an A. She is however the type of teacher that will mark a problem almost completely wrong for forgetting a dx or +C on a test. Her tests are very time limited so if you can't work fast and refrain from making errors no matter how small, do not take this class.
She explained things well when she took the time to do so. She utilizes a pop style ex. method which is more humiliating than helpful and hard to learn when someone gets a problem wrong. Credit/NoCredit on HW so be careful. She also seems to use the most difficult problems on tests. This class seems to require lots of memorization, be prepared.
TERRIBLE teacher. she doesn't teach or help at all. she assigns homework every class period. if your 5 minutes late you get a 0 on hw. if you forget to write the secion/number to do/or the date on your hw she will give you a 0. personally i do all my hw on time yet out of the first 15 hw's i only got 5 with credit. i dropped after the 2nd exam.
she refuses to answer questions and will not respond to email communications. She insists that you come into her office, even if you have other classes during her office time. She does not make her guidelines clear @ the beginning of semester. Out of 40+ students only 15 remain, and not all passing
the only thing i would complain about her is that she gives you a limited time on tests.. class is 2 hours, but only 1 hour on tests. if felt rushed during those tests. REVIEW EVERYTHING SHE SAYS. HW problems, and text book Examples.
mrs klassen will literally call you up to the board if she notices that you are lost/struggling and humiliate you by making you solve a problem in front of everyone. i always have anxiety before going to this class because she humiliates students. she does not help you if you are lost either. you're on your own.if you love Fs please take this class
I usually get A's in math. Not impossible, just harder than the average teacher. Not a big fan of her teaching methods. I tried to drop but couldn't due to another class requiring it.
If you want to pass Math 20 get another teacher. Her grading is horrible. If you forget the smallest thing on a quiz you get a 0 on the whole thing. I am pretty sure everyone is failing. Do yourself a huge favor and get another teacher you can learn something from.
Ridiculously enforces attendance for a lecture/textbook class. She doesn't do much teaching, and utilizes embarrassment as a strong tactic in her teaching. I emailed her telling her that my two jobs and my parents' divorce was giving me issues with attendance, but i kept up with all the work, and she dropped me with no email responses to anything.
Do not take her she makes you feel like you have never taken math before.Her teaching method is learn from others mistakes.We sit and listen to someone struggle so long with one problem we end up forgetting what the heck shes teaching about.Went to review for a midterm to watch er sit and watch us write problems on board and solve em ourselves.
I wouldn't take Prof. Klassen again, but she's not all bad. On one hand, she is patient and will explain concepts a student has forgotten. But the cons outweigh the pros. We had quizzes and TWO exams, both of which are quite difficult. Gives no partial credit. None. Like I said, I wouldn't take her again, nor would I recommend her to anyone else
Her class is very strict. Any small error in the homework and it's an automatic 0. She also had a few quizzes where she had us memorize definitions word for word. Missing a word? 0 on the quiz
Her teachings were very difficult and unjust. She will put you on the spot for just about anything. However, her class is very passable. Just depends on the type of learner you are. For anyone who doesn't like math one bit, I recommend you don't take her.
Klassen definitely goes over the material you need to know and makes learning math easier than some other professors I have had. She's strict on her rules but those rules and her strictness for them definitely help you out in following classes and in understanding. Just remember to read ahead for class and turn your phone off when entering her room
Klassen is a tough teacher, but her lectures are very clear. Exams are based on HW, and likes to throw in the toughest problems exam. Never had a teacher more disinterested in the learning process for the student. Expects students taking first calc class to have excellent understanding of concepts. With that said, very possible to get A - you have to treat every day like day before final is all.

Honestly the only reason I got an A was because I just got out of trigonometry my senior year. But half my class dropped and there is just the midterm and final, so your grade is a gamble in the end.
Favorite math teacher! Explains well and helpful. Homework is online and takes time to understand how to work it. You have to go to class. Prepare for class. It is nice to have extra credit too.
NO CELL PHONE in class!! She WILL waste class time for clueless students to keep guessing what an answer is rather than explaining!!! For group work pick people that want to pass. Some people may never realized the Chapter notes packet, the answers are all on your mathlab lecture videos. So you should always be prepared for class with your notes.
You can pass the class you just have to put up with her nonsense. If a cell phone rings in class then there's an automatic quiz. We had like 4 quizzes in the two days we show up on the week: I... she's very picky, she marked one of my answers wrong on a quiz because i misspelled continuous !!! i wouldn't recommend her at all.
I took math 20 hybrid class this Summer and I don't recommend taking a hybrid course during summer. It was a lot of work. Not impossible but I didn't pass the course. We only worked in groups and the few lectures weren't so clear. I also wasn't able to complete bubling my scantron and fail the exam. I asked about a concern and she changed my grade
I took math 20 hybrid. Lectures are online so no formal lectures in class. Some people did not like it but the class was easy if you watch the lectures and do the homework. Class was good because I could ask questions about lectures I did not know.

If you are the easy going type, this class is not for you. She will make you work for your grade and grades REALLY tough. She teaches excellently but you will only learn if you ask questions. Unless you love math or find math easy, this class is for you, but if you want to sell your soul to the devil then go ahead and take this class :)
In all honesty, she was an ok teacher. I feel like this class was easy for me but what killed me were the quizzes she made us do every time the class met up. The actual tests are difficult even though they were multiple choice. I personally wouldn't take one of her classes again.
Prof. K was hard, yeah, but you can't expect to do nothing in life and get by. You have to work for your grade, which is how it should be. She had no problem meeting during office hours and explaining what you have trouble in. She can be a little abrasive but if you don't screw around you'll do fine.

If youre a good mathmatician and like to be challenged? This is the right class for you. Prof. Klassen explains and does her lectures excellently. The only thing you wouldnt like to do is do too much hw. In her class, she expects you to read ahead or else youd get picked on and will embarrass you infront of the class.
The work is EXTREMELY hard. If you don't know basic math skills then I don't suggest taking her class. She moves very fast and expects you to move with her. Aside from the class work, she's a very nice lady and is always willing to help out her students with whatever they need.

To say that this class and this professor are difficult is an understatement. I am dropping this class as I speak. Best teacher at FC. My only one that gave tests back the next class. Other classes it was weeks or months later. It helped me learn better. Lots of homework and it forced me to learn. I liked the extra credit to read ahead and extra credit in groups too.
Like all my math classes there is lots of homework but its easy if you try. Quizzes come from homework but many people dont pay attention because they dont do the homework. There is a der and int quiz you can take as many times until you get it right. Definitely easy if you pay attention.
You have to do the online homework to pass and take tests. There is extra credit and it helps your grade. She tries to encourage you and help you study. Go to office hours if you need help. Very nice and helpful.

Her teaching style is go up to the board and figure it out yourself which is the least inspiring and most intimidating. I was placed in a lower math class because math is already a struggle for me. This teacher was by far the worst teacher I have ever had at FJC. Ridicules students who don't know material in front of whole class. Called Roll and then insisted that I know the students names as well to help her remember or something. Underlined/wrote in my brand new textbook absolutely horrendous avoid at all costs, dropped first day.
she's a really good professor. she teaches the stuff well, and makes you work for your grade. be in the class on time cause she won't let you do the quiz or turn in the homework even a bit later than when the class starts. study and you'll get a C or more.
If you're late be prepared to participate in front of the class. Stapler your homework if you don't zero credit. Quizzes every week. Doesn't even teach, makes students come up to solve the problems and relies on participation from the students. Homework heavy on the textbook. Couldn't even ask questions in class without her making you feel dumb.
Passed first two exams with A's, but had a 74% grade because of her horrible grading system. 60 HW problems per night, 4 hours a night, closer to depression with every night. Basically the epitome of a Boomer that wants you to stop acting like a snowflake, but in math. Late to class forced to do problems on board and harassed. GL if you take her.

Just study math! If you miss more than two classes, she'll warn you! If you are late, she will ask you to stand in front of the blackboard and answer the questions. If you can't answer the questions, you will look like an idiot! You will learn a lot in her class because you will spend all your time on math!

Pop quizzes every lecture (all or nothing), spends lecture making fun of a student because they forgot how to do something instead of teaching new material, gives 30+ homework problems every night, barely gives partial credit on exams, exam questions are purposely chosen as the hardest problems from a chapter; need I go on? Lol this one's a joke.

I took her class this past Spring and failed. Worst grade ever in a Math class and I LOVE Math. She is a ridiculous grader and treats you terribly the entire class when you make the smallest mistake. Waste of a lecture. I retook the class this Summer and am finishing with an A-. So just goes to show PLEASE look at the prof rating before enrolling!

Great teacher and good class. Lectures made sense and made the homework easy. We had about 10 questions per class and I know other classes have about 2 or 3 so 10 is a lot! But the extra homework makes the tests easier. If you try you will pass.

I took math 40 online. If you watch the videos and then do the homework it is easy. When I didnt watch the videos and tried the homework I was lost. She doesnt make you watch the videos if you already know what you are doing. My other teacher made us watch and turn in notes which was very tedious and a waste of time. This class was way better.
If you need to take an online math at Fullerton College do not take this course. Zero transparency and and barely any communication whatsoever. I was unregistered without any warning or notice and she took more than a week to email back to confirm. None of the assignments were listed in the calendar as well. Overall, I would not recommend to anyone
Math online is strange. My biggest struggle was trying to figure out MyMathLab b/c ALL work was on there instead of Canvas. Required to participate in discussions sporadically, & I didn't know when signing up that tutoring was required. The tutor was not great, so that was frustrating. The content was easy. Just a bad format. She's kind though!!
Mrs K is very nice and understanding. Emails were answered quickly. I could meet on zoom when I was not working. Other professors only meet at specific times. Great class!
Kelly Klassen was a horrible teacher. I'm very surprised to see good comments about her. She must have came and wrote those herself. I ended with a B on the math portion of the class but when I came to her for any type of help or question I would always get an attitude response back. I learned nothing from her specifically, only the textbook.
Do not take her online course. None of it was taught by her, all by pre-recorded videos from some random guy. never sent messages, responses are usually short and unhelpful. Never learned anything from her, only scraped by because of luck.
This professor did literally nothing to help. This was the worst class I have ever taken. She did not reply to emails or messages. Worst professor I have ever had. I wish there was a rating less than one or in negatives.
She shows no regard to you or your fellow classmates. She made us buy the book that we did not even use. Doesnt rely to emails, help out, or make any effort. Shouldnt be a teacher.
Reading from previous ratings, I would have to say otherwise that Professor Klassen was a good teacher. I took her class early meetings on mandatory Zoom. The coursework consists of lots of online homework assignment, participation problems on Zoom to present and weekly discussion boards. Lots of hours are put into this class. PARTICIPATION MATTERS
Professor Klassen doesn't really do much other than grade. All the materials provided for the course are not authentic. She falsely advertises her courses as online but requires in-person exams. If you advertise your course as being entirely online then it should be entirely online because that's what we paid for. Extremely inconvenient.
Frustrating teacher. If you don't have a textbook or memorize, good luck. Online homework website must be PAID for. RIGHT NOW, teacher is making every student calculate their own grade... which is the teacher's job. More than half the class dropped halfway the semester. Awful methods. Awful grading. Do not take. 20 years of bad reviews. Shame.

Remember your classmate's names, do the homework, and be prepared to go up to the board to solve problems. Notation is very important in the work that you show. The class was fun but be prepared for a lot of homework.
I'll be frank, the course itself is not hard it's easy but my issue here was the professor,this is my first ever C and that happened because the professor she wasn't teaching she wanted you to do the teaching part by yourself along with the assignments and then you come to class to practice that is what she calls it.Quizzes, exams very hard.BadProf

She has a very specific criteria/expectation on how she wants everything done which is good because she really challenges you to use your brain with her no calculator policy. My issue with her revolves around her unwillingness to provide the support that is advertised with the course I was taking. Most of class was spent having students bcalled up.
Ms. K is an awesome instructor while I sat in a class mainly of people who were looking to just "get-by." She will challenge you, but her class is more than attainable to achieve an A. Only thing I did not like was the amount of homework, I would rather do less homework and more time to study practice problems from the book versus W.A. Daily quiz.
She assigns a great amount of homework, a quiz every day, and she grades harshly. The quizzes will affect your grade even though they are a few questions, if you fail them, your grade will suffer. Do not take this professor unless you absolutely need to and even then, I would not recommend her.

One exam and final for the semester. No quizzes offered, and content on exams is much harder than usual for trig courses. Even other professors on campus consider the exam content far too hard to be tested on. Unreliable professor, was not present and did not lecture once for the entire semester. Not exaggerating, this professor is not worth it.
two exams and both are extremely hard. No calculator. I am a very well versed student, and needed to complete trig again because of a transcript issue. Professor does not teach, relies on outside lectures. Does not respond to emails. Never present, relies on TAs to teach. You can do so much better than this professor, please take someone else.
This professor is by far the worst I have taken in my college career. There are two exams the entire semester, both of which are no calculator. The professor is absent most of the semester besides the required 2 mandatory exams. She has not a single lecture made by herself, even asking other professors/tutors say that her work is extremely hard.
Forces students to come to the front and do problems even if you do not know how she will make you and embarrass you. Quizzes every day that are tricky and harder than the ones done in class. Tests problems are all from the book however she has no preparation for the test, and they are hard. I would not recommend her class

She's okay. If you need help, she'll help you out. However, she stresses that you should use the embedded tutor. Her lectures are pretty easy to follow. I love math, but I really couldn't enjoy her teaching methods. Lots of HW. HW helps with exams a bit. Pretty ez online. Uses Cengage Learning for hw and tests. Msg her if you can't meet a deadline.
SKIP! Avoid! Don't take her online. WORST! Had to learn on my own. Online lectures are a joke; Links to YT videos. Course was a hybrid. Online HW. Exams taken on campus. Embedded tutor was no help. Class started with 35 students. I dropped when only 9 left. Written exams. No multiple choice. Expect to learn on your own. Affects your mental health.

She doesn't allow any phones!!! AT ALL!!!!! no calculators and if she sees ANY device she'll make everyone take a pop quiz!!! avoid. there are a lot of group projects which is fun, but you don't learn. she also makes you pay 80 bucks for cengage
She was okay but is extremely critical when it comes to grades. Only take if you are willing to dedicate hours per week on this course.

While the class content is manageable, the professor's teaching style leaves much to be desired. Lectures are often unhelpful, and exams are unreasonably difficult. However, using study tools like unstuck study helped prepare me for the challenges. Overall, a tough class to get through.
AVOID at all costs She expects you to remember absolutely everything you ever learned in math & she prohibits any devices which means you have to buy a textbook or fail the class. She's very particular and expects you to remember ridiculously long definitions & expects perfect notation. We started with about 34 people & is now less than 10.
I took the online thinking it might be easy seeing other professors providing proper online resources and understandable notes. She does not provide a single resources, not even her own notes or whatsoever. All resources were online where the video was very outdated. Please do not take her class, especially online. Waste of money. ChatGPT better.

She has no calculator policy. However, you'd find out that there are many questions that require use of calculator in online assignments, quizzes, and even exam. Very confusing. Will never take her class again.

Imagine not allowing students to use calculator yet put questions that cannot be solved without calculator in the quizzes and exams. Also she would deny your correct answers if you don't use “her way” to solve the questions. AVOID at all cost
Took her online trig class, but the entire semester was pure stress. The no calculator policy made everything so much more difficult, as calculators are literally needed on the tests. For online discussions, its either everything is 100% correct or no credit at all. The only thing I would say is that the amount of homework she gives is manageable.
Professor Klassen is amazing! When I took her course there were usually two online homeworks due tuesday and two due thursday. If you read the textbook and watch the videos you'd be able to get the material. For the exams she uses the same problems in the textbook and discussions. She helped me throughout the course; she is a wonderful professor!

The worst math professor that I ever have. She expects use to know what we did in the past that we might forget it all the previous lessons and she also expects all the students to solve on the whiteboard, while a student doesn't know how to solve. All her exams are so freaking tricky. Her teaching skills are awful, always relying the textbook.
Makes you feel like an idiot for asking a question, then makes you figure it out yourself. Is nice to people who humor her (but will call on them the most). Doesn't upload grades to Canvas and expects you to calculate your grade yourself. Stingy on partial credit. 70$ for WebAssign. The textbook is now your bible. Made my mental health plummet :(
