great teacher

fun class. best professor on campus. easy on the eyes.
she's so much fun! she knows so much about what she teaches and she's young and new so she relates to students more than teachers! she helped me with my other nutrition classes and made everything so clear. Definetly take her; she's awesome!!!
yea this class is cool....she's cool ass hell as well as being very attractive which is a bonus.. I bet u she'll even look at this site hahahah yep so definetely take this class even if u don't have to
Nice teacher, helpful, assignments are not bad, lectures are interesting,,,took this class as an elective and got an A. Defenitely recommended!
Kelly is a great teacher. She is young and really easy to relate to. She is new at teaching, but I felt I learned a lot in her class and it wasn't very hard. She grades really easily on things if it is her first time teaching that class. We had a ton of interesting guest lecturers. I would highly recommend taking this class with Kelly.
The best teacher i've ever had!!!
Kelly is such a great gal and teacher. I have been schooling at SDSU for almost four years and this is the first time I have ever cared to rate a professor. This class was once a week on a Friday and I looked forward to it. She is very smart, helpful, and nonetheless beautiful. She is a life size barbie doll.
Kelly is awesome, really interesting, easy to relate to. She just finished grad at SDSU and has insight for students as to what is to come. Love to share her knowledge and is passionate about the subject. She's beautiful & down to earth. Highly recommend this class!
Such a great experience! Kelly is awesome and I definitely recommend this class. Helpful, hot and smart.
Kelly rocks....She is the best !
She is very clear, charming and vivacious. I think she is one of the best nutrition instructors in SDSU. Her exams are fair. There is no going around it- study hard, pay attention to her lectures because you will see it on the exams. Be very articulate and detailed on the Lab reports.
Kelly Lane is the BOMB! Class was kinda interesting, applicable and easy. Kelly is super helpful and cares a lot about her students. Test material comes mostly from her lectures, but she gives a detailed review on exactly what she's gonna ask. Overall I loved her, great professor and easy on the eyes too ;)
Amazing teacher, enthusiastic, smart, and passionate about the topic. She give a lot of preparation for exams which makes them an easy A if you pay attention and write down everything she says. One of the best teachers I have had.
Super fun professor, loves to make fun of her students and isn't subtle about what/who she likes and doesn't like. Overall, great class. Very informative, she's super passionate about the subjects. Her lectures are LONG. On the upside, she gives very detailed tests reviews, so that helps a lot. 4 tests, 1 health project. Overall, awesome class!!!
Awesome Teacher, Kelly! Really learned a lot in this class! She chops down the information into four chewable parts and exam review is EXTREMELY helpful. She tries to be ON LIVE for office hours as many times as possible even though we have 750 students enrolled-EXTREMELY HELPFUL during office hours!!This is the class really helps you stay healthy!!
TAKE THIS CLASS. Professor Lane is so awesome. I took this class as an elective and loved it. You do have to listen to the lectures but she keeps you interested and you learn a lot. 4 exams (non-cumulative) and 1 final project. She's really fair and straightforward. My favorite class at State thus far.
This was one of the easiest upper division class I took at State. Got a 98% without the book and studying. Can use your ppt/notes on the test since class is online. Get to study at your own pace.
Took it online, without a book. Super easy and interesting with barely any assignments. Take it! Easiest upper div of my life. Easier than a lower div class
Stunning!!
so rudimentary and boring. She talks about nothing for half the lecture. Yes its easy, but wow its boring and uninteresting (for me, because i already know a lot about nutrition) take it for easy A but plan to be bored
very boring teacher but not too hard
Verbose in her online lectures, plugs her "inventions" like she is trying to sell you something. Very unhelpful! she has a online class of 900 people so thats her excuse. Hello? if you are not able to cater to this amount of students then don't let them in your class. Typical research professor with bad teaching skills! still got an A tho!
The information is really interesting. I agree with the last post. The class is too large and she has online hours ONLY. The TA is rude and unhelpful. Wouldn't reccommend as an elective.
Kelly is far from boring! She is enthusiastic, passionate about what she teaches and relates to students well.
Took this class online; super easy and interesting! Kelly's online lectures are interesting and interactive (if you can make it at the assigned recording time). I never used the book! She gives you study guides. Tests/quizzes are straight-foward; easy final project.
Professor Kelly Lane is awesome. She is extremely clear in lectures (But don't be fooled) Pay attention cus exams will be trickier than what you think. Studying pays off. Other than that, awesome professor! I got an A but worked for it, Good luck!
This class was pretty easy and straightforward. Watch the online videos, listen to the study guide portion, study, get an A. Not much to it. Easy upper div GE.
Enjoyed the class. Very knowlegable in subject matter. Did not like the lockdown browser, difficult to take from home, much slower. You must listen to the lectures etc.
Professor is awesome! The class is pretty easy because all the tests are on lecture . There are clicker points so you should come to class. Overall, easy class.
Interesting lectures. Helpful in office hours. quick email resonses
Online class. Lectures, although she says are mandatory, arent. I did really well with the review and google doc. Although if you listen to every lecture you can secure an A. Easy class. 4 short homework assignments. No final, just 4th chapter test. No extra credit.
I took her online class...probably the hardest class EVER. She said we didn't need the book so I didn't purchase one. Needless to say, listening to all the archives that go on for at least an hour at a time 3x a week...probably should have taken her class on campus. Exam were rediculously difficult. She seemed very nice and helpful.
Interesting material but the teacher is confusing. She uses old slides and recording. Talks about reviews but it is not for this semester but an old one.arrogant when emailed about it. Test are 60 mi for 50 questions with no option to go back and change answer so you can't hesitate or think about it. don't take her
Tries to prove that her class is not as easy as ppl said on this website. Has an agenda to prove it... Book is interesting but not her way of presenting it. Talks too much on the power point and makes it confusing. Take other teacher if you can
Do not take her! Her online Wimba lectures are long, boring, and confusing. It was a mistake to take this class. Exams are really confusing! It doesn't matter how much you study. You will still get a score that will not reflect the work you put into it. The majority of points come from exams.
I took this class as an elective and have been very happy with what I have learned. I find the topics interesting and the professor enthusiastic and passionate about the subject. You have to purchase and read the text to do well on the exams though
the lectures are too long with too much information. BUT, I have improved my diet a lot since taking this course and been able to help my family with some healthy meal plans. I would recommend this course to anyone interested in nutrition PS - you have to catch the instructor in on campus office hours. shes more helpful in this setting
AVOID!! She talks way too much on the lectures, and even if as short as 30 mins, it can take up to 2 hours to go through it by yourself. Doen't provide study guides or reviews. Test as hard, not matter how much you prepare for it. I totally regret taking this class!!
This is a pretty easy GE class. there are very few activities, no busy work and 4, non-cummulative tests. Prof lane provides a pretty clear review for each test. Need to read book and listen to lectures to get an A
Prof. Lane is one of the most helpful teachers I have had the pleasure of meeting. Yes, you do have to study, read the book, and put in some work to get an A in the class, but she gives you plenty of resources to do so and she is extremely nice and helpful if you just go in and talk to her. I wasn't required to take this class, but I'm happy I did!
Very Helpful if you go to her office hours. Fair and very approachable. Don't listen to these folks that haven't even met her face to face.
I know a lot of people struggled with this class. Personally, I didn't think it was hard at all, but I did put time and effort to understanding the material. I would highly suggest buying the book and using the ebook and copy and paste whatever you think is important to a separate word doc and study that. I got a 95% in this class.
I took this class in FA2012, and Kelly has changed her course dramatically. I feel like her class needs to have more activities because you get all your points from exams..
I am very much interested in nutrition. I eat healthier after learning from this course. My problem were the exams. It didn't matter how much I studied, because the exams were confusing. I regret taking this class! I wish there had been other ways of getting points, rather than only on exams. 4 exams=400. analysis project=50.homework=50.
All of the videos added up to be about 1452 minutes. That's over 24 hours worth of videos for you to watch throughout the semester. I got an A, but only because I had nothing better to do. If you add in study and reading time, and time to do her project, it's a lot of hard work. It was all worth it in the end though since I'm pleased with my grade.
This is not an easy A class. An A is possible but you have to study and more important BUY THE BOOK. I got a B because everyone said she is easy so I didn't put much effort. The grade is 90% based off 4 exams that are very confusing. Her recorded lectures online are the worst part you might even smash your computer because she is annoying.
I thought this course was an easy A and I was wrong. Her lectures were lengthy and hard to follow because she would go off on tangents causing me to lose interest. You need to put in a decent amount of effort for an A. Take the class with someone so you can get help on the tests/assignments.
Lectures are very lengthy and time consuming. Also, the book chapters are lengthy. Considering each test is 4-5 chapters, you have your work cut out for you. However, she presents some really great, useful information. I definitely learned a lot, but suggest not to take this class in addition to an already full workload, like I did.
I learned more from this class than any of my other sciences classes. the presentations were easy to remember. I use the information everyday too
This class was not what I expected. A lot of people said it was super easy, which it was in a way, but some of the test questions were really confusing. I also did not care for the fact that you can not go back on the test. If we were in a class, we can review other questions before turning in our exams. Overall, generally helpful and useful class.
Not recommending her at all! Very confusing teacher, talks way too much not about the subject. She was using all power point from last semester. Not very responsive to emails and her TA was rude. Doesn't curve the class even if you are 2 points away from better grade.
I felt she was a good teacher. She does talk way too much and lectures do take much longer than I would have liked, but she did keep them interesting. Test weren't terrible if you listened to her lectures. Just take good notes and read her outline and you will do fine
This woman is so frustrating. She rambles on and on about nutrition and barely talks about exercise or kinesiology. Most of the other students received poor grades on the tests after hours of studying and she blamed them for not studying enough. I would not recommend her if you have the choice. She is not qualified to teach this course.
This class is one of the worst I've ever taken. Her online lectures/notes are a random clutter of thoughts that are frustrating to try and decode. For a class about the basics of Nutrition AND Exercise, you hardly hear of the kinesio or exercise side.. I get that her area of expertise is Nutrition and Food Science, but at least TRY and include both
I really like the information i am learning in the class. Its interesting, very helpful.I like her lectures and book,However, hate the test system!Great notes, textbook study seems note enough.some question very confusing, and most responses are so close to each other, hard to choose CORRECT one.Its suck to study so much for bad grade:(
This class is not at all out of a textbook like most, which I appreciate if I wanted to teach myself, I could read online. I think the lectures are very well organized and helpful
I don't understand why these students are whining about this course. It's so simple! I might be bias because i am a food and nutrition major and KELLY IS AWESOME! if you guys are struggling, then set up a study group & help each other out!
Professor is straight forward easy to understand. Her class is not based on the book which makes it easier to understand just study slides and take good notes from lectures. She clarifies exactly what she will test you on. Great class.
Kelly is a professor that will teach you how to make it in your career. She's not going to hold your hand through every step but that's how upper-division classes should be. She is always there to help and has real-world knowledge in her field. She lets your use your imagination but keeps you on track. Plus she looks hot even while pregnant
Kelly is an amazing professor who really takes the time to explain things to you, and make sure you understand what you're doing. Class was fair, basically what she tells you she will grade on and what to study is what she does. Always has interesting stories about her career and life. Definitely recommend taking her for any class!! Super nice!
Kelly is a great teacher who will teach you to apply what you learn and actually use it in real life. Very helpful whenever I had questions. Gives a lot of examples when lecturing which helps clarify topics. Super nice and fun to talk to and listen to lectures. Interesting stories about her career and life. Any class with her would be great!
Kelly is very accomodating! Online classes can be very hard to keep up with but she makes sure they are spaced out well. She provides everything the student needs to succeed in this class. Make sure you avail of the interactive sessions because they help out a lot when specially with exam questions! I would definitely recommend her and her classes!
She is funny and educated about the subjects. I learned a lot about technology that I didn't think I would like. Projects were fun and very educational. She was always helpful and super easy to talk to. Don't leave SDSU without having a class from her!
the class is organized exceptionally and spaced out for success. the lectures are long but interesting and there isn't too much busy work. exam reviews are helpful if you listen to the taped lectures. The interactive sessions are cool and a good chance to talk with kelly
She's sort of lazy in her teaching style. The recorded lectures are all from 2011 and last spring, so it's not current at all. During the lecture you can get lost because she talks A LOT and VERY fast, so it helps just to read or use powerpoints for the exams. She's not very helpful, and her GA Lorainne is a witch. Should be easy to get a B.
Kelly seems like the type of teacher who is great in class only. Do not take this class for general ed, as she makes it painfully major specific. her powerpoints are terrible, the extended readings are long winded, but the online lectures are torture, they are all over the place and if listen to one more rambling followed by "thats not on the test"
This class is not the easiest because it has to fit way too much information into one semester.(the lecture was dropped). Kelly does a great job teaching this class. She is always more than willing to help you if you ask. She's very knowledgeable and has a lot of personal experiences in the industry
Kelly is a fantastic teacher. Better than most other professors, Kelly has a really great energy that comes across like a helpful friend who imparts a lot of knowledge that you can learn a ton from. As far as food science goes in the DPD/Nutrition Program at SDSU, she is the best and I've had a blast in her class-Class requires work as it should :)
I do think she is a good and very knowledgable teacher. However, this class is way to hard and and information dense to be online. Despite doing every lecture, i have still managed to get c's or d's on every test.
Info is thrown at you from every direction. You'll have more useful links, guest talks, etc than what is necessary for the test. (definitely useful for life though!) Took 3 exams and scored a 84, 86, and 84. Got 10 points extra credit for attending the Breast Cancer walk. Overall I passed with a 88%.
The course is well paced and the content is very interesting. Listen to lecture, read the book, and attend the interactive session (she gives test answers here). As are possible but you have to work for it because the exams are not easy. Her and the TA are more than willing to help if you have questions.
Ohh Kelly Lane.. where do I begin? Her lectures and notes were so unbelievable confusing and all over the place it made me crazy. Also, do not believe her when she says "this is not on the test", because it probably will be. As for the tests, copy all of her notes, KEA's and take notes on her lectures and you will hopefully be ok.. good luck.
The entire class was online, so you don't get the teacher/student relationship you would normally receive in class. Her notes were very disorganized, and the class was very time-consuming. There is no specific date and time to listen to the lectures so it is up to you to manage time for notes. And your grade is only based on 3 tests.
This class may not have been one of my favorites if it wasn't for Kelly. One of the coolest professors at State, no BS. She is very knowledgeable on food science and approachable in and outside of class.
Great teacher! knowledgeable and approachable. I probably wouldn't have liked this class much if I had it with another Professor.
This class was difficult since there were only 3 tests but she gave extra credit which helped. The lectures were a little fast but that's the great thing about them being online is that I can always go back and listen again or pause it and take notes. Definitely add on to her notes and GO to the interactive lecture! It helps and exam hints!
Extremely confusing. She rambles A LOT throughout the videos, therefore, you have no idea what is important and what's not.
Her lectures were long and boring. I hated taking an online class. The tests were challenging but you can use your notes, computer, or whatever you want.
seems like a nice person but not very good at teaching the online course. the tests were very confusing and there were a lot of things that weren't taught on the tests. 3 exams the last one is the easiest. She gave one extra credit opportunity
I took her class online but she introduced herself on a live video and got a friendly and nice vibe from her. shes young n hip, and talks to her student like shes one of us which i like.BUT, there was too much info to grasp for each exam. she went off on too many tangents..i felt like screaming to her thru the screen to get clarity! lol! not2Fond
class was very hard because a lot of the info on the exams were not in her online lectures.... if you want an easy A... do not take this class with her! I barely got an A with a 93%. Only did well in the class because I had a study buddy. 10/10 would not recommend
omg she babbles and babbles all the time and the program she uses to record her lecture is mediocre. it is hard to understand what shes trying to say; it's difficult to distinguish what is important. her test are pretty hard and the information she gives you is dense. good luck, take it over the summer!
Awful class. I received my lowest grade in college so far in this course. I listened to the lectures and looked at all the readings but could barely get a B on the exams. The exams questions are often vague and sometimes I feel like they were completely random. Only take if it's a pre-major requirement. Good luck and find a study buddy.
If you listen to the lectures and read all her notes, you don't have to do the textbook readings. Not an 'easy' A class per se, but if you put in effort you'll be fine. Diet Analysis Project is a bunch of work but not difficult. I spent maybe 5-6 hours on it and got 100%.
The professor is very disorganized and not helpful at all. I do not recommend the online course!
This class is like an intro to the kinesiology and nutrition majors. It's a good overview but as a teacher she's not very well scheduled or at all organized. Tests aren't bad but it's very confusing as to what to study. It's a hybrid class so just try and stick to the online schedule.
Online lecture. Some lectures are very long lasting 1 hour and a half which can be a long time for online lecture. There is one project very simple, can take 3-4 hours to do. Listen to the lectures and do the reading. Not an "easy A" but can be done with some extra work
I really enjoyed this class, though it wasn't as easy as I thought it was going to be. I still managed to pull an A- and was very proud of it. Lane is very knowledgable about nutrition and her lectures were rather interesting. There was like 4 tests which were easy especially if you have the e-book (search bar is heaven). Overall, would take again!
Large lec class. Really need to pay attention. Tough grader. NOT an easy class.
She does a good job overall. The class itself is boring. The whole course is about what courses you will take in the future.
It was an overall easy class, I don't know why people complain that it's hard. It is a hybrid class so make sure you stay on top of the online lectures as well. There are three non-cumulative exams and she provides you with a study guide that tells you exactly what will be on the test. Lecture notes are online, but come to class for clicker points.
If you watch all the lectures and print the powerpoints with notes you will get an A on the test. Most answers can be found by searching the textbook through online search tab and Alt-F on powerpoints. Requires you to actually watch the lectures but she is pretty funny and offers her opinions on things which is cool. "You can buy them at target"
It's an online course, so expect a lot of reading from the textbook. There are several activities you can do for points. Definitely use the powerpoint notes she provided as a study guide for the exams. She also does an exam review lecture, which is helpful. Lectures goes pretty fast though and the pause button was what I've clicked on all semester.
Multiple tests. Quizlet & command F on the lecture notes are a savior. Never read any material or listened to lectures. Gives multiple homework assignments but you only need 100 points worth. Easy to do, allows for mistakes. One paper, also easy just follow directions.
Her test are really tough and the book doesn't help at all.
Super easy class. Show up to get clicker points and get bonus points on tests. It's interesting because its very specific to your major and feels applicable. She tells you exactly what is going to be on the test before had. If you just keep up with lectures and the additional materials (little readings or videos) you will get an A.
Kelly is a really good teacher! Honestly if you try even a little you'll get an A in the class. Go to class for clicker points and be there if you want to get bonus points right for the test. There are 3 tests and 3 assignments that are all really easy. 1/2 the class doesn't really have anything to do with ENS but it's interesting for gen knowledge
Kelly is awesome. Yes it's true, lots of this material may feel irrelevant bc all ENS students are mixed in, but it's still good in case you're not sure where exactly you want to be in this field. She makes this stuff really easy, as long as you put in a little effort, this class is a piece of cake. If it's not, maybe you shouldn't be in this field
This class was one of the most confusing classes ever. It sucks because all ENS students have to take this course, its not too bad but she just isn't the greatest. It is half online and half lecture which isn't too bad. She expects a lot of reading that she puts online. Good luck!
LOVE Kelly! She is an amazing lecturer and advisor! Best class hands down. Hybrid class, super easy, no homework (only 3 assignments), very interesting class. Only 3 exams, easy, and she includes bonus questions for those who attended class. She really prepares you for not only college, but for the work life. NO TEXTBOOK.
Only 3 tests and 3 assignments. Show up to class for clicker points and to answer the extra credit bonus questions on tests. Study guides are just like the tests, but there is a lot to remember. If you put effort in, it should be an easy A. I barely did anything and I got an A-.
ENS isn't an easy A like most people think. You have to attend class and pay attention (there are also iClicker points). Professor Lane was willing to help and meet during office and/or advising hours. She posts a lot of online videos, so be prepared to watch them all. She made the class more interesting with her enthusiastic style of lecturing.
Easy class. never read anything and i got an A. 4 multiple choice test, hw is easy to you can get up t0 100 of 150 points, really easy to get 100. one paper which was actually interesting cause it is about our nutrition. the paper was really easy, only about 1-2 pages. follow her instructions and you'll to well!
Long lectures and a lot of reading but for the online class, all tests are open book and open note. The negative feedback i do have is that the lecture notes she provided were extremely careless. I've never seen anything like it from a professor. There were so many distracting spelling errors, as in 1/4 words (often important terms) are misspelled.
The information in this class is really interesting because if you have to take this class it pertains to your major. However, it was really hard to be interested in this class because she presents everything so casually that it's hard to take this class seriously. If you look over the study guide you'll get As on the tests.
The class really isn't that exciting, but for ENS majors, you have to take it, so do the best you can with it. It's easy, just make sure you pay attention. Clicker points come in big for the grade, so being at the lectures (even though its at 8AM) is helpful.
Tests are difficult. There is a lot of reading, doesn't really help that much towards the tests either. I scanned through the readings because there was so much and ended with a D.
There 150 activity points that you can do like DBs, interactive sessions for about 30mins, and short MC quizzes. The max points you can get for activities are 100 easy way to get points so do the 100max. There is one project essay to do, easy. I never read the book or watch lecs. Just Googled everything. 50ques 70min got a B didn't exert much effot
Prof. Lane claims this is the easiest online class you'll ever take. couldn't be farther from the truth. She doesn't organize blackboard the typical way the other teachers do, making it extremely difficult to follow. We already know how the navigate it the way it is, why change it? Test were stupid tough, even when using the book to answer Q's
Face to face lecture once a week in addition to online material. The course is split into 3 parts, with one exam and assignment each. Pretty easy if you go to class and use her learning outcomes as the study guides. Also, there are bonus points on tests that can bring you up a whole letter grade! No reason not to get an A here.
The class itself is pretty boring because you are literally learning what you are going to learn about in the future. Kelly is really nice and her lectures are clear. Make sure to go to lecture to get the clicker point and keep up to date with online assignment. Review her study guides and you'll do well on the tests. Easy A.
The class is split up into 4 sections and you have to complete everything at the end of each section. I didn't really study or read and I got a B+. I didn't use the textbook but I needed nutricalc. I wish I would have paid more attention because she was really enthusiastic about the subject. It's almost impossible to get anything lower than a B.
Don't expect this class to be an easy A like everyone says. She's disorganized and her lectures are confusing. I recommend actually watching the lectures and taking notes if you want an A.
This class was awesome. easy to manage and learned a ton.
Lane is a really great professor! She's super energetic about exercise & nutritional sciences. ENS200 can be boring at times, but when you want to pay attention, the info she lectures about is really interesting. Go to class b/c there are a bunch of easy bonus questions at the end of each test that are based on in-class discussions.
she's a cool person and is smart. She knows all the things you need to know for kinesiology and ENS in general
She works really hard and does her absolute best to teach such a broad variety of students. I appreciated her lectures and she really motivated me.
Kelly's super cool. Her class is fairly easy if you show up and take notes. Make sure you go to class because she puts bonus questions on exams that can raise you a whole letter grade that you will only know if you attended lectures. 3 tests, 3 homework assignments. Pretty interesting and overall easy class.
I highly recommend taking this class and any class taught by Kelly Lane. She cares so much about her students and is truly passionate about her job. There are a lot of clicker points, so go to class. The tests are easy if you study a little bit the day before and go to lecture. Some online articles to read and videos to watch but overall easy!
She's a great speaker and she has so much to share. I really enjoyed listening to her and her lectures were relevant and interesting.
In my option, this class was super easy and definitely an easy A. Just show up and pay attention in class and you'll do fine on the exams. She definitely is passionate about what she does, and it shows when she talks about exercise and nutrition. The class can be pretty boring but she is a great resource for ENS students.
I loved Professor Lane's class honestly. She's so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the ENS department. She helped me realize all the different possible routes that I now plan to do with the career I want to get into. She genuinely cares for her students. 3 tests and 3 assignments. Just do a little studying and you should be good.
Her class is not bad at all. I came in thinking that there was so much material I needed to learn that I would do bad on the 3 exams, but they are pretty manageable and they get curved a lot with extra bonus points!
She gives clicker questions every lecture for participation points so be sure to show up to get those easy points! Also, if you ever need anything she is more than happy to help and really cares about her students. She was a very dedicated professor and that made her class enjoyable.
Pretty interesting class about nutrition. There are activity points which are easy to attain. There are 4 tests and she drops the lowest score. There is an easy project about dieting. The tests are kind of hard, but take notes from her audio lectures and you should be good
great interesting teacher. I had this class 8 AM, and I was so mad that it was so early, but she made my morning, like her class wakes you up because she's funny and doesn't have a boring voice. great class too and it's an easy A, well not too easy, but it's somewhere there. she also dresses cute everyday, so it's a relief.
Professor was solid for most of the semester but the class project was handled very poorly. Project was worth about 1/4 of overall grade, but no notice was sent out when it became available AND it was not included on the course schedule, making it very easy to miss. Maybe it will be better next semester; easy class otherwise, but take with caution.
She changed the test material this semester so you can't rely on quizlet for the answers! Tests can be tricky due to poor choice of wording. Everything else was easy and I liked that you can go at your own pace. I received bad info from her TA and she wouldn't change my grade at the end. Very inflexible and rude over email from my experience.
Minimal activities (3 for credit homework assignments) and three tests. No final, just 3 chapter exams. Lectures are fairly dull, though she tries to interest people. Clicker points are for attendance with three absences. Lots of online reading and recordings to listen to. Always at least ten extra credit questions on exams. Show up and pass.
Prof Lane is incredibly rude and unprofessional. This class was unnecessarily hard. Her lectures are unorganized and hard to follow, her test questions are poorly written and difficult to understand. I got an A- in the class but I devoted way too much time and effort to a class I was only taking to satisfy a GE requirement. Avoid this class.
Lecture were boring and for tests, you really got to be at all the lectures. First two tests were fine but for our final she didn't have enough tests for all the students which led to chaos with her grading scale since we had a choice of taking it or not. Overall, she's cool and hot but she's a horrible teacher.
Loved this class. We went over the different classes that we would take at State, as well as different career paths. Show up to class or just read over powerpoints and you'll pass with an A or B. Studied for each midterm for about an hour and ended with a high A in the class. Kelly is also my advisor, and I'm lucky to have had her as a professor.
Kelly Lane is great, she is so passionate. This class is composed of three units each with their own exam, two of them are interesting and the other is boring, but just show up to class for clicker and for the notes because she gives bonus questions for the tests. She is lively at 8am which helps us stay awake, you will love her
Professor Lane is a Godsend! She answered any and all of my questions throughout the semester, about her class or not. Her lectures make you realize how excited she gets about her field of work, which made it even easier to listen. All you have to do to pass is go to lectures, and if you don't do that at least go over all of her online resources.
Took this class online. I learned a lot from it, and the tests were straight from the lectures and PPs she provided. Not a whole lot of work required, but just enough to make sure you learn the material. I definitely recommend her.
There is no textbook for this class so you have to go to her lecture. The class was not difficult but she goes through the lectures super fast so pay attention. She gives a lot of bonus points on her tests so it's not hard to pass this class.
Professor Lane although very knowledgeable appeared extremely uninterested in her students. With more than half of us failing the first exam, she emailed us asking us to stop emailing her inregards to our grades because it is what it is. I also emailed her several times asking for help in the course material and not once did she respond. hard class
I didn't listen to the reviews when I signed up for the class. That was a mistake. The lectures are ridiculously long, the class is pretty unorganized, and I still can't get over the lectures. I'm stressed just thinking about it. I do not recommend this class. Ever.
This class is HARD! I took a nutrition class before and the material covered on her tests is so detailed and the time restriction is so tight that it's hard to get anything above a C+ realistically. I managed an A since I scored a 100 on the final (not easy.) People who did well in this class literally copied word for word what she said onto word.
Compared to other online courses I've taken, this class was extremely unorganized and unnecessarily difficult. Do not take this class if you are looking for an easy A.
Make sure you watch all of the lectures and write good notes. You can also search in the powerpoints she has given if you don't remember the exact answers to some questions on the tests. Expect to put in some work before tests but not an impossible class. She assigns activity points and its so easy to get 100%. Didn't use the textbook at all.
This class seems inappropriate for non-nutrition majors. It was difficult to navigate because of the advanced terminology and basic knowledge needed to understand. Best thing to do if you take this class is to do every credit assignment possible, use the powerpoints for the exams and watch the live sessions to get the extra points.
No need for the book but listen and write down as much as you can from the lectures: 90% of her questions were from there. Not much interaction with her since it's online but she seems great and definitely passionate. Pretty easy and straightforward class. Do well on the exams, do the activities, and the write up and you'll be grand.
This class is easy to pace with a full class schedule. Most of the time I prepared for exams with the notes a day or so ahead and did fine. I enjoyed the little bit of live lectures that we . had
the lectures in this class are too long but very informative. I learned so much and never even accessed the book - Professor Lane is passionate and funny . I would recommend this course for sure !
Lectures are long but you learn a lot and don't need the book - this course was easy to do on the go most of the time too
I cant imagine taking this class live - her lectures were horrible, and I was able to rewind and re-listen to the information I missed. She talks really fast, and often confuses terms (she corrects herself, but it makes taking notes excruciating). The exam questions are poorly worded, so there were times that I had no clue what she was asking for.
Took this course online. Her video/Powerpoint lectures are about an hour long but 90% of test questions are from her lectures so easy to pass test if you review those. She's very engaging and has a great speaking voice that makes the lecture enjoyable. 4 tests (lowest dropped), easy activities/quizzes, and easy project. Book not necessary. Easy A.
100% recommend this class for an easy A. Really interesting lectures, only have to do 100 points of activities, lowest test is dropped, very clear grading, noncumulative, notes allowed for test, textbook unnecessary, notes allowed for tests. I honestly wish all classes were set up the way she set hers up, super easy to follow along.
This professor was very knowledgeable, she would try to explain things in more than one way so you could understand. Prof Lane was nice but the semester I took her the testing graduate assistant was so unreliable making me almost miss an exam. Also the grading system is strange, I ended with the points for an A but ended with a B from how its added
Amazing professor, genuinely cares about what she's talking about. She's great to go to for resources about ENS careers and coursework. Only 3 assignments and 3 tests. Tests are based on the powerpoints and lectures, so make sure you go and take notes. Lets you know basically what's on each test; an easy A if you attend lectures.
4 exams (lowest drop) 100 easy pts for assignments. One 50 pt assignment. Lectures over an hour. Exam questions were weird and really specific.
Lane is a really respectable professor and has a passion for teaching her students about nutrition and fitness. She gives tons of extra credit opportunities, however the class is only graded on few things so you have to do good on all of the exams in order to get a high grade in the class.
Took online and it made this semesters workload very light. Be sure to listen to lectures as they are primarily whats covered on tests. 4 exams but lowest score is dropped so you dont have to take one if you dont want. All exams online so you can use your notes, but dont expect to rely on the internet. Highly recommend!!
Kelly is a wonderful professor! I loved this class bc she gives you tons of ideas of different careers in the health/fitness industry which directly applies to your future as a nutrition or exercise major. Exams are basically the only important thing; the powerpoints are on BB but you have to go to lecture to do well. Even at 8AM I loved the class!
This is said to be an easy A class. If you want an A make sure to watch the videos she tells you to watch, read the articles she wants you to read, and make your own study guide with the learning outcomes and you should be able to easily get an A. She provides good extra credit on each test. Be present for easy clicker points and study before test.
Kelly is great! She puts her students first and is understanding of our lives outside of class. She really helped me figure out what I wanted to do with my life and how to get there.
Kelly Lane is a very caring and passionate professor. I don't know why people say she is very unorganized. I thought she was pretty organized for the most part, and the assignments and quizzes are super easy. She does cover ALOT in her lectures, but her exams are somewhat easy. Overall, a good class to take if you need to get your GE done.
I really admire Kelly by the way she explains, lots of good info, has charisma so you never get bored in a lecture, and will answer any question quick and to the point.
This class wasn't a super easy A but if you review the lecture objectives, read/watch what Kelly tells you to, and put in a little bit of effort you'll be fine. She's a great lecturer and her tests are pretty straightforward. 3 tests and 3 written assignments with bonus questions on the test
I enjoyed her charisma!!! I just really wish I would've taken her face-to-face course instead. She is extremely knowledgeable in the field, however her online lectures are extremely difficult to follow for those who aren't as knowledgeable. She digresses a lot, which also makes it difficult to stay on track for learning purposes and for exams.
I like how this class was graded pretty equally between homework questions in the readings and tests- especially since she allows multiple tries to get the homework questions right. Lectures were interesting and complex, but the exam and homework questions were pretty simple and easy to manage in my schedule.
She is a really nice person and an advisor so she's cool. but this should be an easy class but she gives very unclear grading criteria and the tests she claims are common sense but they're not. the whole class is based off 3 exams and 3 hw assignments. the hw is credit or no credit. the exams are rough but if you hella study you will be good.
Not a great professor. This class was very unorganized. Very confusing to figure out my grade and what was to be on the exams. There was lecture recording and lengthy homework to do and very very hard exams. Would not recommend taking this class or take it for Cr/Ncr if you do. Honestly, I though this would be an easy A but I think it was hard.
Three homework assignments and three tests where one gets dropped. I did not do the online lectures or readings and I still got a B. If I tried harder I could have easily got an A. Definitely an easy online GE if you have a heavy workload in other classes.
Fully online. Her class was based on 3 exams, drops the lowest. Homework is due on the date of the exam, easy to manage with other classes. Homework is worth 50% & Exams 50%. The test are very specific, so you need to listen to her lectures and make sure to read everything. Test are not hard if you read the material and study.
If you don't do well with tophat format don't take this class online. It is really easy to pass the class with the way she sets up the grading scale but the tests are really hard if you do not easily understand biology. There is much more biology than I initially thought in this class but as long as you study and do all of the hw you're good.
Really easy to get all the homework points which counts for 50% of your grade. Tests are really HARD, if you want to do well you have to study tophat and see her hour long lectures posted on youtube for every chapter. Honestly, an easy class to pass with C, not an easy A in my opinion. Got an A on the first test and then guessed the other 2.
The class itself was hard but she is a good professor. The homework is interactive reading online. There is a lot of reading online. She records her video lectures.
If you heard this class was easy just know it's different now and way harder than previous semesters. This is more of a biology class honestly. The hw spend so much time talking about chemical structures. Reading won't get you ready for tests (even her lectures don't help with that). She misspells on tests and words things horribly
This class is neither easy nor hard. The best to study for it is to listen to her recorded leactures that she provides for each chapter. If you have the chance to take for Credit no Credit, then do it. She also provides extra credit that helps boost your grade.
Lectures are clear and if you show up to class you'll end up knowing the bonus questions on the tests (which save you). Kelly is a fun person overall who makes this intro class easy. If you take notes during lecture and do the suggested assignments, it's easy to get A's on the tests. She's head of the department btw so she knows what she's saying.
Class is supposed to be an easy A, and it is. You just have to study for the tests because most of the info is from lecture. Takes clicker points, and 3 easy credit/no credit assignments. Bonus questions at end of tests too. Good intro class to ENS field. Kelly knows her stuff for sure. I got a 106/100 on the first test.
Everyone says this class is easy but it was about average. You definitely have to know biology already to do well. She likes to get very specific about little facts and her slides are all crammed and confusing so you better write down everything she says. Yeah there's extra credit but I had class the only days she offered it.
You are tested on questions that have never been answered in the book or powerpoint slides she gives you. She does not communicates between tests to students, and you will only ever be able to talk to the TA who also doesn't have a clue what's going on. Avoid!!!
This class is okay, but you need good notes to do well. Tophat is worth 25% participation & 75% accuracy so make sure to do well to boost your grade. Lectures are messy and time consuming because she talks so fast. Tests are hard, will barely mention a topic and then the whole test will be about it. Grade based on 3 tests, hw, and diet project.
Tests were mainly lecture-based so just write down everything she says in the powerpoints. Tophat, the online textbook homework system, is very annoying to read and unorganized though. There is some extra credit and 1 easy project to help your grade. It's not a super easy A but is easy if you take notes.
She's an awful professor, and the book your use is terrible. The homework is super hard and the answers aren't even clear in the book so my homework scores haven't been what I wanted. She's just a bad teacher unless you already know nutrition. I would never take her again unless I had to.
Kelly Lane is the only professor that teaches this class and at only one time, so you dont have another option, but she is a really great professor that makes going to class at 8 am not completely terrible. You will only have a total of 400 points for this class, with 100/test (3), 20/assignment (3), and 10 clicker points/class (max of 40).
One of the hardest online classes I've ever taken. Unnecessarily hard. The homework makes NO sense and is unclear. The book and lectures spew TONS of information and numbers and is very confusing. Do not take this class.
I've never written one of these before. However, I feel the need to express that it's almost as if the professor wants to make it as confusing as possible in order for you to fail. She has completely different explanations in lectures and the book (extremely confusing), making the homework and tests impossible to figure out. Terrible class.
One of the hardest online classes. The homework is so confusing and none of it is on the tests. What's the point then of homework, you ask? I'm still trying to figure that out. I can't wait to finish this class just so I can take the class survey at the end to let the school know just how bad she is.
Online lectures are about 1 hour each, all accessible anytime on youtube. Kind of tough to take notes, having to pause over and over which ends up taking 2+ hours each chapter. Good class though despite that! 3 tests are open book/note and homework is easy due on the same day as test. One written project 1-2 pages. Very easy to pass!
You NEED to study for this class. The tests are so specific so make quizlets from lecture notes. GO to class because she does clicker points that will effect your grade. It is a super helpful class for exercise science majors because it basically informs you about everything you will do in the future with this major.
. organized well but lectures are too long to digest. hard to complete in one setting but interesting content
There are notes on the powerpoint that help with the tests. I took this class for an exploration science and think it was fair and well-paced.
This is the first online class that put me to work. The first exam I got an A and the last two I got C. The class is out of 500 points and its 3 exams, 3 homework parts that are on TOPHAT and a writing assignment. I ended the class with 89.3% and I was upset but she gave 6 point curve that took the final exam to 94%. I was surprised! TAKE HER!
Such a hard class. Just don't take it.... the teacher isn't helpful and doesn't care about you passing the class.
Don't take this course if you're loking for an easy A. Online book which has multiple choice questions. Get ready to study.
MOST unorganized class I've ever taken. ALL the tests have complicated questions that aren't in the lecture material or homework (like whats the point of the homework then). Everyone does poorly on the tests so she curves them a little but still. If the entire class is struggling, you're failing as a teacher.
She gives sooooo much extra credit on exams (she asks about random things mentioned in lecture). Class is super easy, just go to lecture and you'll be just fine.
Course is broken up into 3 sections with video lectures and tophat textbook questions for each chapter. Those are easy enough. But her tests are EXTREMELY difficult. Like.... it's an online class that we can use all our notes and lecture powerpoints and I STILL have no idea how to answer them. Really really really, unfairly hard tests.
Kelly has 3 modules with 3 exams in the entire course. The homework is easy enough since the answers are a scroll or two away. The tests can be confusing (especially the last one). A short project that's easy to BS is worth 20% of your grade. She curves the grades a bit, and offers XC at the end for a professor evaluation survey. Not bad!
TAKE HER! Easy A as long as you go to class. She gives a lot of extra credit and tests are super easy.
3 modules, 3 exams. Her exams are mainly based off of what she says in her videos. An easy way to prepare for tests is to copy and paste the transcripts from her videos and refer to them during tests. Overall, learned a lot and was pretty easy. Major extra credit at the end with the survey
You MUST go to lectures. She has all the powerpoint for each section but they are very broad so in order to understand all of the information presented on the tests, you must go to class. She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities on tests so getting an A in this class is very manageable.
Prof Lane is a very personable professor who wants the best for her students. She is very clear as to what is expected in the class. She offers bonus questions on exams. You are expected to purchase top hat to get participation points on, and to take exams on. The lectures are long but all of the information will be on the exams so pay attention!!
The course is broken up into 3 modules, each with 5 chapters in TopHat that have questions & a video lecture from Lane. An exam at the end of each module, and one paper. Even though it's an online class and you can use all of your notes on the tests, they're EXTREMELY hard. I only got an A- because of an extra credit survey she threw out at the end
Super easy class, extra credit each test, barely have to study. Only got a B because i didn't do one homework assignment and theres like 1 every 2 weeks or so. They are kind of strange assignments, like making a poster and interviewing someone in a career you are interested in. She is very nice and treats you as an equal.
if you want an easy A dont take this class. 3 tests extremely hard and 3 modules for homework but each has like 5 or 6 chapters. There is one written assignment. Her due dates are not clear for the written assignment. I missed it and manage to get a C beachside I did OK on the test none gets dropped.
I took Professor Lane's NUTR 313 class online and really enjoyed the material. It is obvious that Professor Lane knows her material and is excited to share her knowledge with students. The course structure is clear and not too difficult. Make sure to pay attention during online lectures and complete assignments on time.
The class itself is really easy, but sometimes seems unnecessary. It does cover a lot of useful info about ENS careers. I think that it's great that Kelly is also an advisor, because it made going to advising more comfortable + she answers many common questions in class. She uses Top Hat for attendance & it can be used anywhere, except for tests.
This class is super easy. Kelly Lane is a sweetie who just wants everyone to pass. There is nothing hard about this class. Exams are online and assignments are straight forward. Just show up and listen to her lectures because random details will be in the exams. She really cares about students and is a good resource for ENS majors.
Professor lane doesn' really communicate with students. The tests are RIDICULOUSLY hard and the top hat homework doesn't really help with the answers. It' a class that requires a lot of out of class research in order to do well. The project is a really good grade booster if you get it submitted by the early deadline which is the only extra credit.
Super easy, great teacher, she is the best.
She is really nice as a teacher and a person. However the content is extremely boring and there are alot of details that are useless to know. I'm a junior right now majoring in E engineering and unfortunately this is one of those classes that is just there to grab your money. The good part is that the class is easy and she makes a study guide.
I would not recommend this class if you're just taking it as a GE course, unless it is part of your major, or you really like science in general. Lots of lectures to watch, along with an online only book that was $135.00... The professor is really nice and passionate about Nutrition, the class just wasn't for me. . .
This class seems unnecessary and I have 105%. The teacher seems insanely nice and genuine BUT she is extremely unorganized. Her PPTs are so hard to follow cuz theyre so unorganized and messy. She never lets us know when shes posting things & everyone is always constantly confused. We only have 3 due dates for all the asg so its easy to slack off.
She's very knowledgeable and seems really passionate about what she's teaching. The lectures were kind of a drag to watch and the exam questions were pretty specific. However the class is very easy to pass if you do all the assignments and study for exams. Overall not bad at all.
take this class!!!! super easy. you see the lectures whenever you want. you do 3 assignments (can be done the same day) and you take 3 tests with bonus questions at the end. (the tests are super easy) just watch the lectures and take notes and you'll pass the class with an A.
She goes too fast for her lectures it was very difficult to pay attention and write notes. Its an easy going class bc not a very heavy load of hw. Her textbook is required. Shes cares about the students and wants us to pass. Tests are open note! And she does reviews too!
Professor Lane really cares about her students passing. She does study guides and curves exams when the average is low. Not a load of H.W. Only one writing assignment. I got an A in her class with only watching her lectures. Take very good notes as its A TON of information. Her exams are only hard because she lectures heavily. Enjoyed her class!
I know there are assistants for a reason but I just wish there was a bit more interaction with Lane. I really felt as if I taught myself more. The lectures were extremely heavy, an hour but probably took me like 3 bc she talks really fast. I really just focused on charts and the fill in the blanks when writing my notes.
Fairly easy class. A couple of lecture videos and one assignment + one test every month. Wasn't very much interaction between Prof. Lane and students so you kind of have to teach yourself. Tests are really specific but she does offer extra credit problems.
Professor Lane is really nice! Class was fairly easy because there are not many homework assignments. However, I wish I was able to interact with the professor more. I felt like I was teaching myself and sometimes the info was unnecessary. I recommend rewatching lectures before tests and stay on top of lectures because thats most of the class.
She was nice. Seemed to care about her students and teaching us the basics of everything in our major. Easy A.
This was an asynchronous class. The exams were not difficult. The lectures are on youtube. Overall a good professor.
The class was meh but the tests and the work was tough and long. The lectures were VERY heavy, so it was difficult to stay focused and enjoy the class.
favorite covid class 100%
Her class shouldn't be this difficult. A decent amount of her exam questions did not come from her lectures, making students lose a lot of points. Her lecture slides are not that useful, as they are unorganized and hard to understand. This class is definitely not an easy A due to her lack of teaching skills.
This Is probably one of the most pointless courses I have taken here at SDSU. The amount of online homework is absurd and so time consuming. There is simply no teaching and you have to pay $80 for the Top Hat just to even do the required homework. Would not recommend this class to anyone, take ENS courses or just not this Nutrition class with her.
Honestly this class is pointless and you will be very confused at first. The teacher will not wear a mic so sit in the front. She talks a lot (fast too) which is hard to follow and her slides are messy . Be prepared to REVIEW THE SLIDES and ACTUALLY go over whatever she leaves (abstracts, videos) because she will include them in exams.
Nice as a person, however I feel like I don't learn much from her class. Not very clear in lectures and it's difficult to find what material to study for the tests. Not much homework and its easy to get 100 on the projects
Took as a GE. Emailed Prof. Lane & didn't get a response for 4 weeks. The TA's are the only people you will communicate with. She has pre recorded lectures and doesn't engage with students at all. VERY SCIENTIFIC COURSE aka hard to understand. Assignments were easy b/c u can sift through to find answers to questions. Tests were hard, quizlet 3/5.
She seems nice and it's a generally "easy" class, but I felt like I learned nothing. Lectures are unorganized, confusing, and barely cover anything on the tests. Tests can be difficult if you don't review the slides in depth. The TA's "review sessions" don't help at all. Projects are almost guaranteed full credit as long as you complete them.
Seems like she cares a lot about the topic, but lectures are very unorganized. Do not take this course unless you are required to! My advice to future students of this course is to record the lectures on your own device to review for future studying. Lecture slides are not helpful without the audio description given during the lecture.
Ok so heres the thing, I took this class online just for the GE and my god was it hard. Btw you have to purchase this thing called top hat and do assignments there and it was expensive af. Id you think the hw is tough the tests are even tougher. Would highly recommend you stay away from this class if you are not majoring in nutrition!
She didnt teach at all, her lectures would be so confusing and no one learned anything we all just winged the test since we didnt know what to study :( hence my B. but theres only 3 assignments that you can bs bc she gave everyone a hundred for submitting. and 3 exams. no final
Pretty standard online course. Make sure to look over study material for tests as they get oddly specific.
Really nice professor, but has confusing slides during lecture. I recorded her lectures with my phone as slides make more sense with recording. Goes on tangents in lectures which is annoying. There's 3 tests and 3 assignments and the assignments are easy. Curves tests, and has extra credit questions on them as well.
took this class as a GE and thought it would be fun but is one of the hardest classes I have taken. Dont expect the professor to ever email you back. LOTS of assignments and a test due every 4 weeks. Tests are hard but you get to drop your lowest grade. One paper is required but grading for the paper is really easy. requires a lot of time.
Terrible teacher. 3 assignments and 3 tests. The assignments are easy but the tests are hard because of how unorganized she is. The slides don't make sense and the review sessions that the TA's have are useless. Only take this class if it's required.
Professor Lane is a very kind person, but her class is very disorganized. 3 exams (300 points), 3 homework assignments (150 points), and tophat participation (100 points). She tests on the most trivial things in her slides so BE SURE to pay attention to each individual detail!
her class was a bit unorganized and felt like i didnt learn anything. gives three assignments and three test. assignments were easy and everyone was given an a. tests were hard as you dont know what to study. pay attention to videos that she assigns as it will be on the test. was hard to get a hold of. passionate but not a good professor.
the lectures and readings are really lengthy and take a lot of time to do so make sure you plan accordingly. the exams are really hard even with the provided study guide. lots of work but it's not an impossible class to pass
Organized and clear course
Worst lecturer ever. Class itself is stupid, but she makes it unbearable. Tests are so micro detailed. All projects get 100%
Kelly is great. The class is a little weird because it is difficult to figure out what to study. If you go and pay attention to the lecture it should be easy. She gives a bunch of EC on tests too. All assignments are based on completion so dont spend too much time on them, they boost your grade like crazy too. Go to lecture and youll pass.
Kelly Lane is really nice & super sweet. ENS 200 in particular is a very interesting class that is hard to understand the material. The tests are all over the place & you actually have to apply the material in order to do well. I never got an A once on any of the exams because of how confusing everything was. You'll do fine just study!!
I took this over the summer, it consisted of three exams and tophat reading/ answering Q's along the way. She allowed us to drop an exam score which boosted me from a B- to a B. If you're big on email she wasn't the most responsive, but that might've been bc it was summer. Make sure to do all of your tophat correctly.
Her videos are extremely boring, hard to watch and the reading is excessive. I was expecting to learn about very basic nutrition but now I'm stuck reading about scientific terms that I don't understand half of the time.TOPHAT teaches you this entire course but the questions require additional research or prior knowledge to answer.prob gonna get a C
Kelly is an absolutely amazing professor! Her lectures are engaging and she often brings in special guests to speak. The class is graded by mostly by tests but the test are often easy as she gives you to answers to some questions during lectures. She also gives the opportunity for lots of extra credit if you answer a question in large lecture/
3 assignments and 3 tests, grade is 1/3 assignments 2/3 tests. Class content is weird but Prof Lane is great. Would not take if not required for major.
This was the easiest class I've ever taken but yet still so informative. I learned a lot. You are graded on a few things. One small group project. She also forgives one big assignment at the end.
DO NOT TAKE HER FOR ONLINE CLASSES!!!! Tests are 50% of your grade and she doesn't offer extra credit but drop an assignment. Exams are extremely HARD! You an use notes during your tests, but the study guide is nothing like the tests! She gives a good amount of workload in top hat and gives more than a month to complete it. Start early!
Professor Lane provides so many extra credit opportunities and her lectures are very interesting if you like learning about exercise science and careers. Attendance is definitely not mandatory, but honestly if you go to the lectures your grade will probably be much better off. There's not much work outside of the lectures besides studying.
Course is run by 3 diff. people & it is hard to get ahold of the instructors until it's too late. Grade kept changing bc it was difficult for them to input the criteria & we used a sep.text/interactive system called TopHat which can get kinda pricey. Beware of tests, it will bring down your grade. But they do offer grade forgiveness or 2% push.
Honestly so much info provided (imo too much), but you definitely learn about nutrition! The material and class is straight forward. Take it if you need the GE
This was a great class to take online. Most of her assignments are done through an interactive website that is really easy to do. This class goes deep into the impact of nutrients on the body. She is very sweet and informative when it comes to assignments and due dates. Most of the quiz/test information can be found online in google. Easy A!
No weekly deadline but instead something closer to a monthly deadline. The assignments are from an interactive tophat textbook where there are about 10 questions per section and around 4-5 sections per deadline, some questions are not easily found through the text but most are. She provides a study guide that you can use on tests which helps a lot.
Easy class, most of it is common sense. If you know a few things about nutrition you can likely pass the class without watching the lectures.
Not a bad or good class just very in the middle. Professor gets back to you fast but there's not much participation on her end. Overall I'm not mad I took it but the workload was silly for what it was.
Kelly is such an amazing teacher and person!! She's very sweet, energetic, and motivating. She is such a great and passionate explainer, and you can tell she really cares for you and wants you to succeed. Homework is simple and you can drop 1 test grade or keep a 2% push. Tests aren't hard just study/pay attention in class. I'm going to miss her :(
very lecture-heavy. grade determined by 4 tests, 3 assignments, and homework so be careful. 10/10 teacher though she was amazing highly recommend taking her classes
Professor Lane is an enthusiastic and amazing teacher & clearly cares about her students. She is very helpful with advising as well, and is incredibly receptive to feedback. It's important to attend her lectures to do well on the test, but if you review the homework beforehand you'll be fine. Classes were enjoyable and her energy was infectious.
This was a really easy online course. Her tests were kind of tough but if you read and watch her lecture videos with study guides its not too bad. She is not the most active professor but again it was a easy class to pass so I'll take it!
She's very passionate about nutrition but lectures are so hard to follow: speaks so fast & seems like she expects you to already have background knowledge in biophysiological processes because she throws out big words like I'm supposed to already know what they are. I dreaded the class, maybe those with a nutrition background may enjoy her class.
Read the syllabus to fully understand how the class is going to be! She gives you a month to do the homework. Two chances to redo a question you missed. They provide a study guide for each exam, which was very useful. Didn't watch the lecture videos, only used the study guide and lecture notes for the exams, and got at least a 90-95% on all exams.
Great teacher & intro course to ENS. showed first-years how to plan out their MyMap and what they should take for lower and upper division classes. There are 4 exams and 4 main assignments, with a little bit of homework. You can choose to drop one out of any of the exams/assignments OR choose a 2% grade boost. Not good at responding to emails.
I def recommend taking this class. Light online GE class with 6 total assignments. All the homework is done on tophat and the homework is split into three units, which are due once a month and are pretty simple. There are three exams that you take throughout the semester that are also pretty easy.
Easy A if you do the TopHat homework, only the three test and three homework, but you can use your notes and she creates a study guide that gives you the answers to the test.
Very easy and interesting class! All online with only tophat hw due on the day of the exam. Lectures are just going over the tophat book. Total of 3 tophat hw and 3 exams online no lockdown browser and a course overview quiz. She also gives "push points" which is either a 2% grade increase or drop 1 assignment/exam.
NUT313 is a straightforward class with a lot of information. The assignments and tests can be challenging, but the professor provides great study resources like a guide with test answers. Unstuckstudy AI was a lifesaver for test prep.
her class was pretty easy. half of the class was homework and half were exams. she'll give at least 3-4 weeks for hw completion . she also provides study guides for exams and gives “push points” to help grade. easy A. Recommend taking her
There are only 3 homework assignments and 3 tests, and she gives you a lot of resources and help on the tests. She is a great professor and really cares, the material is interesting and the actual work is easy, allowing for more interest in learning.
Only gave 3 exams and homework the whole semester. She sometimes yaps a lot during lecture but the slides she presents are available online. Easy work as long as you're able to study the material.
This class isnt too bad however, there are legit only 8 assignments that go in the gradebook. "Homework" is weird and on TopHat. You gotta take that stuff seriously because once again there are only 8 things put into gradebook total. She is nice but boring. Average on tests are B- and its hard to proply study to do much better.
You do the 8 homeworks through TopHat which was around $100 to purchase. You will have to actually read the content and answers the questions along the homework assignment! There is a test at the end and some quizzes along the way based on her lectures and the Tophat material. Do not procrastinate and take notes because that will help you a lot!
SOOOO Easy. Literally easiest A I ever got. Barely any work and the assignments/tests were easy. Take this class.
There is an okay amount of assignments, but it is very easy, and you literally have a month to finish them, and an exam. You can finish it in one sitting if you really wanted to. Exams are fairly easy, it felt like review of my other classes, so not to much studying, unless it is new material.
She's great. The material is difficult but taught well. However the exams and assignments are heavily weighted and there is a no tolerance for lateness pardon. We had a midterm due online at Saturday on midnight and I thought it was Sunday, so I was waiting till Sunday morning to spend Saturday studying. I missed the midterm and failed the class.
Professor Lane is a very easy going professor. She is honestly super sweet and passionate about what she does. Attendance wasn't mandatory but I totally recommend going because she covers the content really well. Tests are pretty chill and minimal studying was needed for most of it. Homework is just some reading but overall lowkey class.
Great teacher, interesting to listen to. Sometimes she talks a lot and I get lost but overall a good intro class. She guides you and offers you a lot of help.
