She is extremely open and helpful. She talks really fast in lecture but if you ask her to slow down she does. Her tests are difficult, but she curves and having a good TA will help tremendously. Probably not as good as Hummel, but definately 2nd best
I would recommend her to anyone. She legitimately cares about her students, which is sometimes a hard thing to find on this campus. Exams are pretty difficult but her office is always open and wants to help. The accent is a little much at first but you get used to it.
Very hard to understand her. Her lectures are also pointless because she talks super fast and just reads off the powerpoint. But the lectures are mandatory because she gives iclicker points. Her exams are extremely difficult and confusing. I recommend you go talk to her once a week about the material. Her powerpoints arent helpful too.
She is the best professor that I have been met. Her office hour is infinite.Once, I stayed in her office for 3 hours asking questions, and she always smiling to help students answering questions. Exams are easy first time, and then gets harder. But she curve a lot. but she has accent, everytime I have to go back to read ppt again after lectures.
I would say her class isn't easy. I also would say that if you TRY a little harder, you will be fine. If you struggle, just go ask professor, because she is more than willing to help you. She is very nice and encouraging. I like that she always takes time to help the students first... no matter how long it might take.
This class is definitely challenging. Dr. Marville is a great chemist, her skills as a professor are lacking sometimes. Study every bit of material for exams and do practice worksheets. This class is not an easy A, but it is doable.
I loved her! She takes the time to get to know her students, and she spent extra time with me in office hours before the exams, even when she was only supposed to spend 20 minutes with each student. She actually cares about how her students are doing, and her exams are easy if you know you're stuff. Plus, her accent's cute. WAY BETTER THAN TOM H!!
There are better chemistry professors out there. Her tests are relatively easy...the problem is she really doesn't teach in class. All she does is repeat the power points, but attendance is mandatory so you have to go to class anyways. So, yeah....if you are already good in chem or you are good at learning things on your own, then go for it.
She's got an awesome accent. But she doesn't explain things in a way that makes sense. Also, her tests are pretty hard if you're not used to working for your As
best teacher i ever had!! if you go to her office hour, you will know she's very patient at explaining, she'll make sure you truly understand the materials. She had spent over half an hour with me for just one question and make sure i understand, very approachable, you'll know if you talk to her...i just love the way she teaches!!!
She's a good chemist, but a bad teacher and unfit to instruct anyone about anything. She has ZERO desire to help struggling students and gets angry if you don't understand her nebulous, disorganized way of explaining concepts during her office hour. But the whole point of office hour is to learn what you don't know. So it defeats the purpose.
Only reads off powerpoints, explains everything in a confusing manner, doesn't clarify anything
Marville is a decent teacher, but manages to make fairly easy material seem confusing. She has a confusing way of doing stoich, but her tests are straight forward. Go to class, take notes (don't just print off the powerpoint), study the notes the night before the test, and you'll be fine.
She has a tough class but gives you all the materials you need to be successful. Just do the practice exams PLUS the extra worksheets and you will be fine.
I think Marville was probably one of the best Chem 102 professors available all you have to do is put in the effort. My advice to you is go to class, she basically tells you what topics and types of questions will be on the exam. Do the mock exams, the worksheets, the homework. You can get an A if you just put in the effort.
Extremely hard class, but she is fair overall.
This class is a breeze if you took Chem 101 and took it seriously. IF you didn't take 101 then prepared to study like crazy for the first exam. Marville explains everything you need to succeed in the exam but almost to the point that she makes it seems getting an A on the exam is better than actually understanding the concepts.
She's a nice woman, very knowledgeable, but she belongs somewhere other than the classroom.
She seems very knowledgeable about chemistry but she is definitely not geared towards being helpful to others in the classroom. She has a confusing way of doing stoich, moves too fast to take notes and comprehend them in lecture, and she makes easy concepts seem difficult. I would not recommend this professor to ANYONE. She also isn't approachable.
She has a fantastic Jamaican accent and knows everything about chemistry. Unfortunately, she zips through material really fast and I often left lecture feeling lost. Luckily I had a great TA and didn't have any problems with the class overall. I never used office hours but I heard hers were great, she'd sit with students for hours until they got it
She doesnt teach right and yells at us for getting a bad average midterm score. Curved our exam 3 from a 50% to a 60% and called us ungrateful. Horrible at teaching and going over material. She didnt care if we failed her class either, saying "see you next semester!" Do yourself a favor and take someone else for chem 102..
Calls students ungrateful, rarely curves, gets angry at scores below average, knows her subject well but that's her downfall. She is not a teacher, she is better off doing instead of showing.
I honestly wish I would have looked into other professors before choosing her class. It was so difficult. The exams looked nothing like what she taught in lecture, the homework, or even quizzes. Rarely curves. Yelled at our class because people did so badly because it was so HARD. She is the worst professor for chem 102.
exam's and the final was hard, but she curved our overall class in the end!
CHEM 102 is a challenging class with any professor at U of I. Dr. Marville's exams can be difficult, but she does give you plenty of materials to prepare you for them. The key to this class is to practice. Do the weekly packet in discussion (q's similar to test/quiz q's). I like that her quizzes were online, because they were essentially open book.
Unless you are a whiz at chem before entering the class, I would go with another professor. Speeds through material that could take weeks to learn in just 50 min. Her tests are pretty near impossible & look nothing like the material she gives you to prepare with. Chem102 is a challenging enough class; taking it with Marville makes it much harder.
She uses practice exams that are easy and the actual exams are impossible
While her class and exams were difficult, if you study and know how all of the theory works it is very doable.
she is really nice and funny. the ppts which you can also downland on the lon- capa are really clear and useful. I missed my final exam but she still gave me another chance. she is awesome.
Good lecturer who provides you with all the study materials you need. HOWEVER, her exams are very difficult. practice exams may be easier than actual exams, but the quizzes are very close to the difficulty of the exams.
She has an awesome accent that takes a while to get used to. She moves very fast in class, however has the powerpoints available online. Her quizzes and homeworks were fairly easy.Marville and my TA thought I would do well on the exams, but I failed all of them. They are very tricky and hard. My advice is do well on ALL the homework and quizzes.
Her quizzes are pretty tough, but the homework and quizzes are easier. Just don't miss much on those and you should be fine. She is kind of tough and moves fast, but she really does want you to do well. Not to mention she has an awesome accent, so at least that will make you pay attention in class.
Very knowledgeable in her field. Provides many real world examples to clarify content. Extremely difficult exams, but manageable if you prepare correctly. In the end, the class is curved. However, don't let yourself take that for granted.
The class itself was stressful to say the least. Iclicker questions were extremely challenging and given without prior warning. She would teach the information, then immediately quiz on it. Accent took time to get used to, and speeds through the material. Gives a fantastic curve at the end of the course so half the class wouldn't fail.
Marville is a magnificient teacher. The way she constructs her quizzes and iClicker questions prepare her students for exams. Attending every lecture will benefit anyone who takes her class. Any problem we do, she goes over and explains. She always gives tips for how to take exams. Considering I had Jamieson last semester, she's a great switch.
Marville clearly knows her field. However, taking her for 102 was intimidating. She is intense in lecture to keep everyone's attention and forgets to turn in down in a one-on-one office hours situation. I would highly recommend her IF you don't think you will need to go to office hours. Otherwise, Hummel is the way to go for 102.
I got used to the accent, but I never got used to the frantic Iclicker quizzes in lecture. Tests were extremely difficult, and she makes the tests to set you up to run out of time if you don't have the material down solid. Weekly online quizzes are timed also but homework gets you a lot of points. Overall stressful but she's extremely knowledgeable
She was very organized which was nice. She puts all her powerpoints online for easy acess. Do not underestimate her tests. People say chemistry is hard at UIUC for a reason. She makes the class hard but is a responsible teacher. After talking to my friends She is defaintly the best choice out of the three 102 teachers
Completely swagged owttt! She's awesome! Her powerpoints tell you everything you need to know. Make sure you do the weekly worksheets and study hard, because exams are difficult and you only get 10 minutes for each quiz. She's clear about what her expectations are and what she wants you to know.
Dr. Marville is a great professor in that she is very clear as to what you need to know. She'll tell you what mistakes to avoid. She does show a little bit of bipolarity in her personality, so try not to be intimidated--especially during office hours. She chews everyone out! Keep going though! I promise it'll pay off and get you a better grade.
Dr. Marville knows the chemistry very well, and usually does a great job at conveying her knowledge to students. She is, however, VERY condescending to students in office hours. The class is moderately difficult, and if you need help I recommend going to a TA- she will just make you feel worse about yourself.
CHEM 102 is pretty hard, but I think Marville does a good job of preparing people for the exams and lecturing effectively. She curves the final grade by half a letter or so.
Dr. Marville is a very engaging lecturer and obviously knows her stuff. However, in office hours she is still amped up so be prepared for the same sort of dynamic personality if you go in. Her tests are very difficult. If you want an A you most know every piece of the material and understand it. The final was easier than expected.
Dr. Marville is a very smart woman, but I think she lets this get to her head. She is not a nice person. She acts superior to her students, and it is very annoying. Try to avoid having her as a professor if you can!!
She's a decent lecturer. It's a bit annoying that she starts a few minutes before the class period starts. Other than that she makes things pretty clear in class.
Dr. Marville clearly loves chemistry, but she is not good at teaching it. Her's is my least favorite class because the material she covers is not at all like what she puts on her tests. The tests are much harder. Not to mention she is very condescending to students during office hours and when asking general questions. I would avoid her classes
really hard on exams and quizzes. Although there is a retake after every mid-term, the questions are even harder than those in the exams. The average scaled score for the second mid-term is only 67, if you want an easy A on this course, better choose another professor.
Exams are very hard! Retake exams are harder than the exams themselves. Discussion didn't really help that much. Be sure to do the worksheets because most likely they are exam questions. If you want a better grade for chemistry, go with a different professor.
Marville is a fantastic teacher who knows her stuff and also knows how to logically teach it. She has funny stories and brings the energy in her lectures. Her class is a really humbling experience for all the engineers that think they know everything, so study if you want to do well! I would highly recommend her if you want a quality chem class.
Very Sweet lady! Class was very difficult
She is a great teacher. She knows the information she is teaching and she knows how to teach it. Many people say that she is very hard and I would agree. If you study you will do fine. She is a great person. I had an hour conversation with her just about random topics. Great person, great teacher, difficult teacher. I recommend her by far.
Her lectures are just her reading her ppts way too fast to understand. Exams are unnecessarily difficult and I truly regret taking her course. Extremely arrogant and only tests you on little caveats & exceptions. Horrible, professor overall who doesn't care if the students learn or not. She's just mean for the sake of being mean. Take Huang.
Very smart lady, but she does not know how to give lectures. She gives gives worksheets that are only half as hard the exam questions. She is very difficult, even with having a 3 on the Chem AP exam.
Marville knew what she was talking about. However, she had the expectation that you would automatically understand what she was saying and had prior knowledge of everything. Her lectures were very simple however her tests and online quizes were impossible. She was also very very mean during office hours. Save yourself and get a different professor
People are right, Marville's exams are difficult but not rediculously so. Everything on the exams is covered at one point or another in lecture so as long as you go, study hard, and put in the time to do the make-up exams you should be able to get at least an A-.I enjoyed this class
Just get a different professor. Please
she definitely knows what she is talking about.. but i think she makes her exams a lot harder than they need to be. the material is already pretty difficult as it is, and she makes them even harder. also, the only way you can get points back on the exam is by "retaking" the exam online, but you only get 2 tries per question and its still hard.
Marville definitely knows what she is talking about, and I can see how a lot of students think she is tough. Even though the exams are pretty difficult, there is nothing in them that she doesn't go over. Just visit a TA instead of her office hours-- she can be intimidating. Overall, a fair teacher if you're willing to put in real effort in her class
She teached the lectures very well.. Because they were so simple. The tests on the other hand were unnecessarily difficult. I dont know why she made the tests so difficult when the overall concepts were portrayed as rather simple
She was not very good at lecturing. Her level of explanation wasn't up to par and I had a really hard time learning the material in her class. Would not recommend.
Very good lecturer, and clear about what will be on the tests. Tests are hard but fair. She is extremely intelligent and explains things very well if you go in and ask. She can be intimidating but she's actually very nice and happy to help. I you're willing to work hard and put in the effort, she will prepare you best for higher level chemistry
I took 17 hours my first semester at UIUC, all technical courses as I plan to go into engineering. This professor told us we had to memorize the periodic table, and we did not need to. Her tests put Hummel's to shame. This teacher makes Chem 102 the hardest entry level course in this school. Get Tina for your teacher if you value your grades.
She means business. Don't take this class lightly and definitely don't mess around. She can be intimidating at first, but if you genuinely care and want to do well... then this class should be no problem. And never have your phone ring in class, she WILL kick you out!
She's a very difficult teacher. I never went to office hours for her because everyone else told me she was super rude to them. Her tests are insanely hard and she speeds through lectures. Try not to take her if you can.
She is very rude in office hours and acts like it is a hassle to help you. She makes this entry level course ridiculously difficult. Where other professors assign problems from the book she simply says "do them all". DO NOT HAVE HER
Marville is an extremely serious and strict professor. She doesn't sugar coat anything and her explanations are often unclear and end up confusing you more. Tests are really really hard, but she gives you the opportunity to do better on the re-take. Online homework can take long, especially because you only get 10 tries.
This class is taught as if you have already taken AP chemistry. Don't ask questions, you will receive a condescending response.
If you can, avoid taking this class with Marville. Condescending doesn't even begin to describe her during office hours. Looking back, the material was not hard at all, but her explanations were often confusing; she made basic algebra seem like rocket science. Would not recommend her class at all.
She's tough but you feel like you understand the concepts after lectures.
Please! Please! Please! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH MARVILLE! She was condescending, rude, and degraded her students; even to the students who worked hard. If you do not want to be verbally abused then do not take her class!
Amazing teacher, tough tests.
If you want to have a good GPA by the time you graduate I strongly suggest avoiding Marville. She constantly mentioned the engineers in class and purposefully made the material harder for their sake. Tests were significantly harder than every other chem class's. Lectures were unclear and very confusing. Biggest regret taking her class.
Lectures are fast-paced. Tests are difficult. She expects you to have some understanding of the material before she teaches it.
She is tough, but a good teacher. Avoid if possible, her tests are actually the worst thing ever.
Marville is a very organized and efficient lecturer. Lectures are easy to follow. She doesn't like stupid questions, which scares a lot of people away. A lot of people on here have said that her tests are unfair, but they are very doable if you understand the material and are a decent problem solver.
Dr. Marville is an extremely intelligent woman but she speeds through lectures (50 minute classes and she was done in 25-30 minutes almost every time) and expects you to understand what she's saying immediately. DO NOT TAKE CHEMISTRY WITH HER if you want a good grade. Never struggled with a science class more than this, and I'm a senior now w a 3.7
She is very intelligent, but she expects her students to understand the material as well as she does by the exam, which is a very hard standard. My biggest criticism is that she gives you fairly simple problems to solve in lecture and discussion, then makes them much more complex on the exam without you having practice at that difficulty level.
She speeds through lectures and expects you to be prepared beforehand with the knowledge she will be covering in class. Her tests are pretty difficult. But if you really put in the effort, you should manage to do ok.
Dr. Marville is a very intelligent woman. However, here intelligence makes it difficult for her to understand that even in a general chemistry class that some topics may be difficult for students to master or even understand. she embarrasses people for not understanding material in lecture, she makes her class extra difficult. I would not recommend
She is an incredibly smart woman and gives great lectures. However, she can be very intense when lecturing and she expects you to completely understand the material at the level she does for exams. Loved her as a professor but this class is very difficult. Be prepared to put a lot of time in.
Amazing lectures. Concise. fridays were fast-paced,useful clicker days.. I received an A- in this class after the very very very brutal final (Study hard for it guys!) Chem discussions are pointless to go to unless you have a good TA because she posts the worksheet keys online. Do not read the textbook, go off the powerpoint, hw worksheet problems.
Very cut throat hard professor, clear concise lectures. Expects the best from her students
Lectures are good for explaining material, I didn't even buy the book. I suggest looking through the PowerPoints before class so they make more sense and so you can ask questions/go to office hours as soon as possible. Speaking of office hours, they're really important if you ever want to be liked by her. Quizzes however are unnecessarily hard.
Marville is always ready to help you, as long as you show that you have put in the work and attempted to understand the material. She really wants her students to succeed. Do the book problems and practice tests. This makes the class so much easier.
Dr. Marville is a excellent professor and is always willing to help her students. I would strongly suggest attending office hours and asking for help when you need it, she will respect that and will be more willing to give you a good letter of recommendation in the future. She is a great professor and mentor to entering freshman.
I loved this class because it was the bomb
She is alot better in the spring for chem 104 because she knows that people who take general chemistry ii are not whiney engineers who are "forced" to take chemistry and she is alot better.
This was by far the easiest class I've taken. Before this year, I had no chemistry at all (my high school was focused around english) so it was something new and shockingly, it was a cakewalk with Marville.
Marville is the best in the chem uiuc department and will definitely help you get into med school with high chemistry grades. If you are looking into premed or anything like that take Marville. Instant GPA booster.
Her exams will be the lectures, so just know the lectures and you will be good. The homework, the discussions, and the practice tests are great practice. Definitely do one practice exam. If you go to her office hours you can get close to her, but know that she will expect a lot from you if you do that. The chem help center is a great resource.
I asked her for an extension cause I was ill and didn't start class till 3 weeks later than everyone. She didn't care and said I couldn't make up any work.
Tests are completely unfair, much harder than anything covered in class or the mock exam. Take with another professor if you want a fair chance at a decent grade.
Seriously the hardest professor I have ever taken. Without a doubt the trickiest and most difficult tests to date. I studied for hours on end for these exams, taking practice and past exams, but that didn't help because I still ended up with a D.
Great teacher very nice if you get to know her she loves helping people.
Extremely hostile in emails and just an overall aggressive and unfriendly person. I don't understand why she hates everybody she encounters. Sorry I didn't spend 3 hours reading the fine print in every single syllabus/policy/frequently asked questions/etc. Get over it, you're a teacher, you're here to help students and answer our questions, grow up
She comes off as a mean lady, but she means well if you get to know her. She's tough because she had to persevere for her love of knowledge; she's very passionate about learning and takes it very seriously. She's very professional as well.
She does not care about her students, she puts things on the test that we have not gone over. She's just overall not a nice person.
Honestly the worst professor I've ever met. She would consistently not help me when I came in for extra help. She was constantly hostile in emails and in person. It's her job to work along with her students but she refuses to help you. Would highly recommend Andino or Ray over this worthless professor.
She may seem very intimidating at first but once you go in to office hours she genuinely cares for you to do well. Basically try and you'll do well. Chem 102 and 104 are hard but I guarantee if the effort is there, Marville will put effort in you. She doesn't put up with bs and those in the comments that didn't give full effort know who they are.
A hard professor to be sure, she'll readily admit that her class is the hardest one. Doing the practice problems is a grade saver to be sure. Try to go into office hours or introduce yourself and she'll remember you. She wants everyone to succeed but she'll make you earn it. Quite an amazing person/professor, wish I could have her for more classes.
She is very hard. She teaches fast and the questions she explains during class are easy, but absolutely nothing like the questions on the exams. I came out of the reviews feeling very confident about the tests, and I never did well them. I studied for hours preparing of these tests, went into office hours, and got help from another student.
Arguably the most difficult professor for chem 102. Avoid if possible
Definitely take this class. If you go to lectures and discussions and keep up with the class, you'll basically be ready for the tests and exams.
I highly disliked her as a person. Her class was also very tough, without reason, as I learned that the great majority of the other Chem 102 classes were much easier. I would not recommend her as a teacher for Chem 102.
It was a tough class. Felt like it was too much for a first semester chemistry course. Probably best to try other Professors
Marville can be very intimidating. That said, she is a very blunt and honest person who values the honesty of her students. Going to office hours is a must if you want success in this class. Do not be afraid to get extra help. She truly does care about her students.
She seems very intimidating at first but she knows her stuff! She is really helpful if you go to office hours and wants her students to do well. Instead of having a curve, she lets you do exam retakes which is honestly better than a curve because then how your raw exam is curved is based on you. You definitely get the grade that you deserve.
CHEM 101 really does help with this class. It's great to go to lecture because as she goes through the lectures, she literally tells you what will be on the exam. She is in no way trying to trick you; yes, the material can be difficult at times but if you're willing to put in work and understand what you don't get, then you will do fine on exams!
To do well in this class you have to read the textbook and make sure you understand the overalls concepts because you will be taught mostly the math aspect of it all during lecture videos. Also the exams are only 25 questions of MC and she makes them extremely difficult compared to the material you were actually taught. Exam averages are very low.
I am annoyed that I didn't check ratemyprofessor before taking this class. Marville gives the hardest tests of any of the Chem 102 teachers, and her grading scale is extremely test heavy. Doing bad on one test sets you up for a semester full of stress. In my opinion, if you have the option to take Chem 102 with a different professor, do it.
She really wants her students to succeed, but she makes it nearly impossible. There is NO curve in the class, although she claims to curve your grade at the end, which is only 1-3 percent. Her class is very exam heavy and the exams are very difficult to conquer. She takes the easiest concepts, and explains them in the most complicated manner ever.
Do not recommend her. The exams are not representative of what we learn- they're way way harder. I've completed all extra credit and assignments but I currently still have a D+ in the class. Angry that I wasted my time. I spent more of my semester frustrated and worried rather than enjoying the class and learning.
She had some odd desire to make students fear her which isn't all too conducive in a class of this difficulty. At the same time, she always made it a point to come and get help from her at office hours but I've heard both horror stories and grand revelations. Personally found her lectures to be useless. Read the power points and do practice exams.
She over complicates everything and is very unclear. For example, when she was talking about z (number of protons) in class she would say zed, which confused the crap out of me for a while until I figured out what she meant. There are so many tips and tricks she neglected to teach that I learned on my own that would have made my life so much easier
Dr. Marville is an exceptional professor who is very professional and expects a lot out of her students. Despite what many think, she truly does want her students to succeed and will help you do so if she sees that you're determined. Exams are fair and straightforward. Just study the PowerPoint slides and worksheets and you'll be fine.
She's definitely not easy that's for sure, but an A is possible. And she can be a tad scary at times but she warms up when you get to know her at her office hours. Attending lectures is definitely a must, reading the book is not necessary but the problems at the end of the chapters are good practice for her exams. STUDY STUDY STUDY!!
She is not an easy teacher, and you really have to understand EACH lecture in order to succeed. Her tests are very similar to the hardest questions on her worksheets and quizzes. Lectures are also very useful to attend in order to understand the basics. If you don't understand something, I recommend going to CLC, it was a lifesaver. GOOD LUCK!!
Dr. Marville, in my opinion, is not a good choice for a Chem 102 class. The course and topic, in general, are easy. Chem 102 isn't a hard class by any means, but Marville makes it as hard as possible. Every weekend you will have online homework, Exam level multiple choice questions, and a quiz. Then every week you have a roughly 20-page worksheet too.
Dr. Marville makes a nice, easy subject terrifying and unbearable. Students who want to pursue chemistry, DO NOT take this class as it will demoralise you.
Good lectures, a decent person overall, compassionate about chemistry, but she lacks empathy and compassion for the students. She gives LOTS of homework but her tests are not very reflective of the work that she makes you do building up. Its the same topics but in completely different forms. Would not recommend if youre not a Chem or Bio major.
Yes, Dr. Marville is tough. But she is a great professor. She posts lecture handouts and solutions online so it is easy to follow along in lecture. Tests are difficult, but if you do the homework, quizzes, and study, an A is achieveable. Also, take the worksheets and discussion quizzes seriously. Theyre just like test questions.
Dr. Marville is extremely tough, and generally doesn't care if you're failing. Her lectures are very dense and she has a tendency to start 2-3 minutes earlier than the posted time and finish 15 minutes early. If you have the option to, I would recommend taking another professor.
WORST PROF EVER. She is absolutely horrible and heart less. I wouldn't recommend her as a teacher or a friend. Truly the most nasty woman I have ever encountered.
To anyone taking Chem 102, I would recommend doing the retakes and any extra credit, as both helped gradewise. Additionally, despite what everyone says about Marville, if you go to her office hours, she is pretty nice. The exams might be hard but over time you get used to the exam format. As long as you put in the work, you should be fine.
Marville is the most condescending teacher I've ever taken a class with. She builds up the students who do well and shames the students who don't. Her TAs are also much better chemistry teachers (and people) than she is. If I could go back and take CHEM 104 with a different professor, I would no doubt.
I love her. One of my favorite and would love to get to know her better. She calmed me down from the first class with her bright enthusiasm. Yes, she can be a bit harsh and cutthroat, and her class is difficult -- I love Chem, it's basically my major, and I'm good at it; kept a solid A and barely kept it with the final. But I learned so much <3
It's true that Marville's classes are challenging, but that's because chem is difficult and you need to put in the work. Her grading criteria is strict but consistent, and if you go to office hours, you will see that she really does care about the students. If you're prepared to work hard, you will succeed and learn a lot in this course.
She seems like a really cool professor, but like the level of difficulty of her tests is out of this world. Some of the things in her test, are not even mentioned in class. Would not recommend.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. Her exams are virtually impossible, even if you know what you're doing. She only gives an hour and fifteen minutes for 11 page exams that are all math. In other words, you will not finish. Also, she puts things we've never done or seen on the exams. There is also SO MUCH HOMEWORK. Spare your sanity and find another teacher.
First day, said she has a photographic memory and will remember your face forever and tries to scare you immediately. Tried to go to office hours to get help and she told me I should already know this and didn't try to help me. Practice exams are not even remotely like the test. Also I think 3 kids total actually finished the exam in the time given
if you care about your grade and sanity, dont take her. her exams are impossible and unpredictable, the tests are nothing like the homework/practice exams/things we do in class. she dumbs it down for us in class but when for the exam, the questions are near impossible. she assigns way too much homework and we moved twice as fast as other classes.
Shes tough and the class is difficult. If you try and put in effort you will be fine. Go to office hours right away if you dont understand something , she works with you until you get it but you need to prove youre putting in the time. Awesome and detailed notes. Hard tests but similar to ELMC qs. Prepares you for higher level courses.
Marville's TAs are better human beings than she is. She is condescending and tries to intimidate you for no reason. The exams are nothing like ELMCs, unlike the person below me says. You are better off with a different professor if you don't want your GPA tanked. She can explain things well, but there's no point if exams are curveballs.
I'll be honest, CHEM 102 was not difficult, but Marville's exams were really difficult. There was not enough time, and she comes off as condescending at times. However, if you put in the work, you will succeed in this class. She's also an awesome lecturer Give her a try then drop the class if you don't like it.
Listen she isnt an easy A, but then again neither is any Chem 102 teacher. Marville has decreased her difficulty since her academic probation and the class is much more accessible. DO THE ALES EXTRA CREDIT. Btw I got an A in the class with 82% Test average (with retakes) and I basically got a 95-100 in other categories.
Mrs. Marville is very rude to students during online lectures, whenever a question is asked, she blatantly ignores the intention and basically makes the student feel bad for asking the question. The TAs were great and kind, yet she was so rude. She would dodge questions by telling students to look at the text. Why even have Q&A lectures then?
Her tests are ridiculously hard. I wonder if she does it on purpose, giving out misleading practice exams so that all the students fail the real ones? The practice exams have completely different material than what is covered on the tests. In addition, there is so much homework that there is little time to focus on other classes.
Will not curve grades. Exam are like reading foreign language for the first time. Rude especially when asking for help. She made me feel like the stupidest human alive.
She's tougher in 102 than 104. All her students from 102 received higher overall grades in 104. Her lecture notes are detailed and direct. Lots of work, you have to study and go to lecture. She's very honest and direct, she will help you however she can if you put in the work and effort. Take her if you're planning to take higher level chem.
As a lecturer she does well. She gives you all of the information you need o succeed in class and the extra credit is good practice and can boost your grade. Her exams are reflective of the material and are fair. Where she falls short is her personality. I have never had a worse relationship with a prof. She didn't like me and made it very clear.
Great professor! Has a ton of experience from industry that helps make the course applicable. Explains content well. Never felt unprepared for an exam because she tells you the exact types of questions that are going to be on the exam, and spends the whole day before the test walking you through the types of problems she will be asking.
I hated this class as well as the teacher. She treated the students with no respect and did not care that COVID-19 played a huge role in people not understanding the material. She was not helpful at all!
Had her as the lab professor, emailed her about something I missed. Instead of telling me gently that I was unable to make it up, she sent me a long email basically saying 'too bad so sad', and how I lied to her (I didn't, she misread my email and missed something I said). She is intimidating and hurtful and I could not approach her after that.
Energized, fun lectures. Outside of that, if you have something negative to say, is impossible to approach, and doesn't take criticism to heart, very unempathetic. Petty in the way she talks, very demeaning. When your average GPA is that low, there's a certain point where you cannot blame your students anymore. no curve, retake gives low points(bad
Tests only have fifteen questions and missing just a few destroys your grade. Average exam grades are usually around 60% and many questions are presented in a confusing way. The class is curved only very slightly, and although there are retakes, they barely improve the score at all.
I took the online Chem 102 summer course and there was a lot of material to be covered within such a short period. Even though there was a lot of homework and the tests were really hard, if you put in enough time to understand each and every piece of information she gives you, you will do fine. The bonuses she gives makes up for low grades you get
Her grading strategies were unforgiving, especially for a summer class that required learning a lot in a short period of time. Additionally, the concepts are taught in a strange and confusing order and there are important vocab terms used but never defined. She was also very rude and curt in her emails.
Very unprofessional and rude in emails. Her teaching ability is not very great.
The exams are difficult and only have 15 questions, making it harder to do well. I had a C average on the midterms, but I did well on the final and got an A+. The homework is basically free points. Unlike many of the people below me, I didn't find her rude at all and I appreciated that she replied very quickly to my emails and was very helpful.
Chem 102 is a hard class, but Marville spells out exactly what you need to do to get an A, offers lots of extra credit, responses to emails fast, and gives great lectures. Do all the readings, do all the suggested problems, do all the worksheets, and you will do well in her class, anyone saying otherwise did not put in the necessary effort.
Thorny professor, great lecturer. When I missed a homework deadline at week 5 through what I will admit was my own fault, I sent what I thought was a polite email. I asked for extra credit/how much it impacted my grade as it was a large assignment. The reply was not only unhelpful but discouraging, feeling more like a rant than a reply.
Class is hard. Youll get a C if youre lucky.
For online you might as well drop now or pray you can switch to an open class, the explanations in her lectures are very confusing and are little to no help. Her quizzes and tests have a very short time limit, 3.3 minutes per question which is not enough time to do each question in my opinion. If you have her good luck
You have to watch lectures before a synchronous lesson review and the notes take easily 2 hours to take every week and you have a discussion where you have to complete a worksheet and on top of that homework problems each week and extra practice problems and a quiz each week. No curves on tests she just wants to see us fail.
She knows how to teach and teaches well; however, her section is significantly more difficult than other sections. She has a very condescending attitude when you ask her any question. The usual response entails "why are you asking me this when you can find the info on the website you know I teach over 1000 students" f u Marville
I took it in Fall 2020. Professor Marville along with TAs are very helpful answering students questions. We mostly meet TA, and TAs clearly explain the lectures. The video lectures post challenges due to only one chance. However, they give extra time working on postlab and answers students' questions very patiently. Be aware of reef questions too.
The class is so poorly structured. She intentionally makes the class hard and grading unfair so that people fail.
She prides herself on getting significantly lower exam averages (In the 50% range) than all of her other colleagues. I have seen her make future doctors and engineers cry and be forced to choose a different career path.
Please if you can do anything do not take her, any other teacher would be far better.
Please just take this class with a different professor. Marville is the toughest grader and does extremely poorly explaining the content and preparing students for exams. She is also very unresponsive and she does not allow you to unmute during class. She usually never checks the chat. Worst class of my life.
Worst experience of my life. Marville is the worst professor on this campus and if you ever need to take 102 DO NOT TAKE IT WITH HER. She doesn't teach class she just calls you stupid or calls you out for your stupid question. I never felt dumber in any class or as helpless. I had a grasp on chem 101 but then marville makes you feel like an idiot
Professor Marville has good lectures and office hours but her tests are nearly impossible. The level of difficulty she exemplifies in lecture is no where close to how hard the tests are. Be prepared to put a lot of work and effort into this class. Gonna warn, most people drop the class.
The two midterm exams during the summer class were very difficult to get good grades on. However, the rest of the class is not hard if you pay attention. Marville is a really good lecturer and if you put in the work you will do well in this class. Unlike many other reviewers, I actually thought she was very polite and respectful.
The I-Clicker problems are much more stressful than positive and deterred my grade. Thank god for test retakes because her exam questions are oddly unrelated to the questions she goes over in lecture and homework. She cherry picks questions from "recommended, but ungraded" worksheets and is absolutely terrible at explaining anything. Good luck.
Marville's exams were completely different than the material she covered in class. I would have gotten an F had I not dropped before the final exam. The iclickers are way more difficult than helpful, and she degrades students or completely ignores them when they ask a question. She is the reason i am not in pre-med anymore, and I had to retake :(
Just don't take her class. NEVER.
Lectures are very straightforward, neat, and detailed, and work through a lot of example calculation problems. Polite and responds to emails very quickly. A minor gripe is that on the exams, you can't go back and change your answers once you have submitted once. The exams are hard but also only 45% of the grade which is very generous.
If you messed up by accident during the actual lab and went over the time, good luck. Because once you missed your deadline to enter your data, you would NOT gain access to your post lab and learn from it. It's a ridiculous way to get punished for mistakes that may made by humans and not able to learn.
She ruined my semester and I never want to see her or take a class from her again. She's very smart but can't teach.
Shes uncaring and generally terrible at teaching the material. Dodge this class if you can and try for another prof.
Being completely honest, this is the worst professor I've ever had. She was rarely available for office hours, explained the absolute minimum. I switched my major after taking this class. Also good luck if you're an athlete. She wouldn't let me miss class even if I was in the middle of a race. Very difficult to deal with.
Dr. Marville makes chemistry unnecessarily hard and has even degraded people for asking questions in class. She is by far one of the lowest ranked chem 102 teachers by gpa disparity. Definitely do not recommend unless you wanna hate chemistry.
WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT TAKE MARVILLE! Not sure how true this is, but I have heard from everyone around campus that she is allegedly on parole with the university for failing too many kids. After taking her class I can 100% see why. The point distribution of the class isn't even that bad but the way she teaches her class is the worst I've ever had.
The class is hellish at times but I got an A in the class with zero chem experience (not even in high school). Marville states in the syllabus that she expects her students to put in a lot of effort which frankly is the reality of what a college class should be like. I really wish she curved grades though.
I have huge respect for this professor. It was very fast pace and the lectures and iclickers honestly did not help me at all. doing the worksheets and hw was the best way to practice. the key is to practice a lot instead of relying on the prof.
Yells in the lab and is overall rude. When you ask for help she makes you feel stupid and requires you to submit everything by the end of lab or you are screwed. Does not make any accommodations or exceptions and is horribly rude about it. Sat in my car and sobbed after lab one day. Ruined my week.
Do yourself a favor and don't take Marville's class. Her exams and quizzes are not reflective of her lectures. She does not curve exams and quizzes like most other Chem 102 professors. I also heard she was on academic probation for failing too many students.
Would definitely not take it again under any circumstances. She seems like a nice person and actually a decent lecturer but only in person. Online was and is an absolute no for her. Rarely any curves on the tests. On one test I took with her, the average was a low D and there was no curve whatsoever.
Marville wasn't involved in the lab section of this class at all and only came in on occasion to pick at dress code violations. The TA did everything. Having a good TA and rewatching the pre-lab videos a lot is going to be very important if you want to pass the class.
She is very rude to students who try to ask for help in front of everyone in the online lectures. Her lectures also don't really help with understanding the concepts that appear on the exams.
My fav professor at UIUC! She responds to email very quickly. Once I sent her a question on the Bohr model and she replied to my email within 10 mins. Her way of teaching helps me retain information a lot more effectively. Her class is tough, but she makes sure that students understand.
Dr. Marville has been failing kids for years now, yet she still uses the unhelpful lecture videos instead of actually teaching in in-person lecture. Her exam averages are extremely low, however instead of taking responsibility and curving it, she blames the student. She is very unfit to be a college chemistry professor.
She has been failing kids for years now. I would never recommend taking her course. The class average on the last exam was a 53%, with no curve! The questions on the exams barely represent anything that was discussed in lecture. Same with the practice exams that she swears by, almost none of those questions help for the exams.
Really bad grading system. Lectures are not helpful.
her class is crazy, she teaches things that are far beyond what intro chem should be. If you have friends in other chem 102 classes, you'll notice you're doing triple the work and learning different (much much harder) topics.
Never take Marville. She seems nice but she's a bad teacher. She gives out these "mock" exams for our actual exams but those questions are nothing related to the actual exams. Her tests are timed but its never enough time because you only get 3 minutes to do each question. Take any other teacher than her.
You will struggle with this class. The review for the exam is nothing like the exam.
Her classes have several times more to do than other professors, and her lectures are not really helpful for exams.she is busy proving that she is smart and doesn't care whether her students understand or not.
Do not take her class!!
difficult but easy
require tons of effort
test heavy
RUN. iClicker questions are graded on correctness. It makes zero sense to basically quiz students on topics that they literally JUST LEARNED. Exams are NOT curved, even though every single one of her averages is failing. She also only tells you HOW to do things and not why, so without outside help you're blindly doing math without knowing why.
She ruined my semester! Her class is way too difficult. The material she teaches in class is not on the exams. I study 20+ hours per week on this class (sometimes more) and still fail the exams. Take this class with anyone else!! Beware of her sassy attitude!
do yourself a favor and switch to another chem 102 professor.
Use her online resources how she tells you to and you'll get an A with some work. Doctor Marville is pretty intimidating but wants the best for you, I would definitely take her class again.
Rushes through everything and is horrible at explaining the material during lectures.
The lectures, homework, etc. were incredibly helpful in learning the material and preparing for the test. The tests can be hard, but the extra credit and the retakes can cushion your grade. She goes through material really fast and does graded iClickers, so it's recommended to go over the content before the lecture.
I studied so much for her tests and it got me nowhere. She gives us mock exams which are suppose to mimic real exams but none of those questions are anywhere similar to the test. Literally choose anyone else. You will be doing yourself a favor. The average grade disparity for her section is so much lower than other sections. PICK ANYONE ELSE. PLS.
She is not flexible, she punishes students who are sick/mentally unwell, and she refuses to change her ways. 0/10. Avoid her at all costs if you want to be happy.
Posted the homework in random places, overload, and she would not like you to ask questions IN THE DISCUSSION. She would only want to review what she wanted to go over. She also did not go over definitions well, she cared only about memorizing each thing.
Professor Marville's class is challenging, but the lectures and homework are very helpful in learning the material. Utilize all the online resources, including unstuckstudy, to prepare for the exams. Attend every class and stay engaged, as the iClicker questions can impact your grade.
Dr Marville rush through her slides, she expects the students to have read/written down what was on the slide in 5 seconds and moves on. We can't ask questions during lecture because it takes up too much time during class. Her explanations for difficult concepts don't make sense, and I end up teaching myself the lecture using YouTube videos.
guys......
YALL. DO NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE. pick another teacher. She was on social probation because she failed too many students a couple years back and she hasn't changed. Her tests are not curved even though the averages are around 55%. The wording of the questions on the exams do not make sense. DONT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!
not terrible for a weeder class. doing the practice problems on the discussion worksheets helps a lot because they're pretty similar to the exam questions. i usually have to review the slides myself after lecture because she tends to rush through them. ridiculous amount of weekly homework.
rip if you have Marville
I was nervous about Marville going into the course because I read this page, but honestly I don't feel like she is as bad of a professor as people say she is. Tests are pretty easy, though punishing if you make some mistakes, and her lectures are pretty good, even if she goes fast sometimes.
Probably the toughest Gen Chem I teacher out there, but her lectures are well made and the grading criteria is well-lined out. If you put in the work, you'll be fine.
I took online Chem102 with Dr. Marville this semester and while she's not that bad of a teacher, her grading procedures are terrible. There are 3 'hour exams' that consist of 15 multiple choice questions in 50 mins and are extremely difficult. There were over 100 kids in my section and only 7 got a perfect score on one of them.
Kelly Marville is a brilliant professor with much experience, but her grading procedure makes her class so hard. She refuses to curve (even with failing averages) while giving the most work and hardest exams of the 102 professors. She offers retakes which is the only reason people pass. You'll have a letter grade higher with any other teacher.
Good luck going to med school with Marville killing your GPA!
Just finished the final exam. Just know these ratings you're seeing are generous compared to what she actually is. She is not understanding, helpful, nor does she effectively teach her class. Her way of teaching is rambling off words that r on the slide and does not explain. She was put on social probation for a reason. DO NOT TAKE THIS SECTION.
I made the mistake of choosing this class and didn't check her rate my professor beforehand. I don't find her teaching style very helpful, I would teach myself most of the time, the notes and worksheet took 2 hours on average, the in class iclickers were terrible because they are very stressful especially for a topic we just learned.
If you never took AP Chem try to avoid her section, but if you have to settle for her, the online section is better. Her class relies on you coming into class already having some understanding about the content so keep that in mind. I-Clickers are annoying but manageable, exams are only 15 questions so that can screw you over if you don't prepare.
Ap Class didn't help. She didn't either... You know what helps though? Choosing another professor!!! Save yourself and your sanity, or if you wanna hate your life, your family, your job, and your roommate, choose this class. This class has been so frustrating, I had to break off a 6-year-old relationship with my girlfriend... I miss her :(
Take this class with another professor.
Aleks grading system is HORRIBLE in the way that you'd jump from a 100 --> 66% on a 3-question prep exam because of a tiny rounding error etc. The class was fine bc I learned it all from AP Chem. Her exams are fair/predictable, she emails the topic of every single question in order and you can find another version of that topic on her prep exams.
I should've read the reviews before taking this class. All she does during lecture are practice problems and she never takes the time to explain any concept in detail. Despite studying really hard and attending every lecture I would still do bad on the hour exams. And the class average itself is not great.
Here's advise: the iclicker assignments are almost always questions we did in discussion. To get a 12/15 or more in mock exams do the practice exam that's not for points a day before, they are almost identical. For hour exams go over the overview of questions and try to match the hints with problems you did in discussion, prep exams, and wrksts.
Not a terrible professor as people think, her slides are very organized and there are prerecorded lectures online. The scary part is that her grading scale is extremely unforgiving. The average for every midterm exam is a failing grade and exams are NOT curved. I recommend attending EVERY discussion to consolidate knowledge after each lecture.
Would rate a 0 if I could. I would rather have a middle school chemistry teacher try and lecture me on this course. Her pacing is way too fast, she never explains any concepts, and is a really harsh grader as averages on all her tests are failing grades. Not to mention she is very condescending and gets upset when a student asks her a question.
Dr. Marville is definitely enthusiastic to teach chemistry and wants her students to do well, but the way that she presents the material is hard to follow. She goes through slides quickly and just reads from them, rarely elaborating. Tests are extremely hard and often have questions that were barely covered in class.
I think Dr. Marville gets a little too much hate. It's true she produces the lowest GPA average for her class out of all CHEM102 profs, but I think she is really inspirational and provides a LOT of resources for help. Don't forget to look through the printable practice exams in ALEKS resources. Put in the work and you will do well. Good luck!
Lots of studying. Lectures are very fast so notes need to be taken before lecture. Tests only have a few questions on many topics which make studying very important. Use your TA and Office hours early on so you don't fall behind. Lots of practice questions and study material given. Very nice teacher but difficult content.
Professor Marville is clearly knowledgable about chemistry, but unfortunately she's not as skilled at explaining topics and concepts to students, especially for a general chemistry course. Also, beware of her grading policies-she told our class she would be curving the final, and she didn't curve at all.
I think her class is pretty good, lectures are clear most of the time and resources are easy to attain. She does go through lectures fast sometimes, but slides are also posted online. Tests are pretty easy if you come prepared, final wasn't bad either.
I was afraid of taking her class because of the other ratings, but honestly the professor wasn't that terrible. I would absolutely recommend taking notes before lecture and staying on top of assignments, but she is overall nice when you come to office hours.
The lectures are alright, but sometimes they're pretty confusing to understand. Lots of opportunity to practice on the content, and she offers a lot of ways you can get good grades in the class (retakes, dropping quizzes and homework), so for me I felt like I was given a lot of leniency. Tests are do-able, especially if you take advantage of retake
Doctor Marville is great at explaining difficult concepts. She has a well-structured class and gave us a lot of practices to prepare for exams. Definitely an amzing professor for introductory chemistry.
Good luck.
Very rude professor
Dr. Marville's class is difficult, but she gives you all the resources you need to succeed, and it's the student's job to take advantage of them. Going to discussion section was SUPER helpful even though points aren't awarded for going. There are also a lot of assignments other than exams that can help boost your grade.
do not take her. save yourself. i took her twice. dropped the first time, took her online class next se, and regretted it. she doesn't teach, just talks insanely fast and doesn't show you what's on the tests. study guides and practices are nothing like tests. if you take her, good luck and prayers, may God be with you because this teacher is satan.
When I first signed up for Marville in FA24 I thought I was low key cooked. Her reviews RMP were awful and… they were right. She's an extremely fast lecturer, who lacks the basic ability to teach humbly. However, she's not unfair. She's very nice with midterms, which are practically identical to the practice exams.
Was on academic probation for a reason.
FIND ANOTHER PROFESSOR IF POSSIBLE! Marville is the toughest teacher I've had at UIUC, and the class is a total weed-out. Her lectures move fast, and there's a lot of homework. The average on the exams were always around a 50% and she doesn't curve the grades. If you go to get help at the CLC, the TAs will literally badmouth her.
Taught nothing in class, rely only on learning via online resources. If you want to learn anything you have to teach yourself.
I would never in a MILLION years take this professor. DROP the class immediately. She doesn't care about the students. You can't understand her at all. The exams are the worst part of this professor. You can study all you want, but the questions are never like the ones on the mock hour exam or the practice exam she gives.
Dont take her, actual exams are nothing like hw or prep exams, averages are 7/15 on exams and does absolutely nothing for curve even tho everyone fails. Theres other professors teaching chem so take them not Marville
she is incredibly rude. she laughs at the students when they ask questions, making you feel extremely dumb for being confused. the test averages are always like a 50%, and there are retakes but no curving. if you can avoid her, do it, because even the ta's talk bad about her.
Please, please, PLEASE do not take Marville if you want to maintain a good GPA. She's an eloquent and fantastic lecturer, but everything you're taught in class might as well be forgotten because literally nothing on the homework, iClicker questions, iClicker assignments, pretests, discussion packets, OR practice tests is on the exam. 15 ?s Btw.
While the lectures themselves were coherent and well done, none of it showed up on the exams. She specifically said she tries to make the questions confusing to "make sure we know the material", but will put material we haven't learned yet on major exams. She also is rude when students ask questions, and condescending.
Awful professor. Incredibly disrespectful, refuses to admit any fault.
Dr. Kelly Marville is doing too much but never enough. She doesn't curve any tests and allows retakes. However, these retakes are an average of the original and the retake score. She also does in-class clicker questions that are GRADED, which will mess you up BIG TIME! She skims the material and expects you to get them right.
If you can, switch teachers ASAP. I didn't find the material hard, however this course certainly was. She is a fast paced lecturer, lots of homework that felt all over the place because they were on different websites. Her discussion can be helpful, she goes over old exam problems, but she doesn't explain the concepts to how she solved them.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I really do not understand how she is still a professor. She is not welcoming AT ALL. If you have doubts, just ask Youtube or chatgpt. She is extremely unhelpful. Whatever she teaches does not come in the test. She purposely makes the exams so hard and confusing. A really bad nature. Please take any other professor available
This class made me reconsider my entire major. Take any other chem 102 section and save yourself (and your gpa).
She's not as bad as she's made out to be. Her tests seemed fair, especially if you do the homework and take advantage of the extra credit mock exams, and she gives retakes for all 3 midterms. She's also pretty good at communicating important concepts in lecture. Biggest downside is that she often spends lectures repeating very similar questions.
After scoring 40% on the first midterm, I had to self-study the entire course. Lectures focused on inessential info while skipping key topics, and discussions were useless. However, her mock tests, prep exams and worksheet booklets were lifesavers that carried me throughout. She will test your test taking skills more than learned topics.
Gang she's reformed from her academic probation days, I will say though her exams are still very difficult. Make sure to get perfect scores on hw and extra credit and you'll survive. She does not give enough study material for exams, and her questions can be tricky, the final is not as bad as the midterms imo. I wouldnt take her if I were premed
The midterms are very difficult and so was the final and she does not curve ANYHTING. Her lectures are not great and she provides close to no study material. If you take this course be prepared to self teach
Do not take this class. The average midterm scores are around 50-60, and she doesn't curve. Though, there is a retake after each test but it averages with your previous score, which makes it not as helpful. This class is not worth your time and you will be better off taking other sections, just look at the GPA distributions for each respective one.
I admit that it is 80% of me for the score. But there are few things to say about CHEM 102. She skims main stuffs real fast. The way she elaborates on the materials is hard to follow. Pop-up iClickers are hard. She is inspirational for her few last words before the final. So you might not learn chemistry but you might learn other lessons to mature.
She gives lots of practice problems to get you ready for exams, and the exams are not hard at all if you're prepared.
Dr. Marville is not as evil as some of the older reviews say, but the class is tough no matter what. The best piece of advice I have is to do ALL the worksheet pages that correspond to the lesson and to review the lecture slides before lecture. Also, set reminders for homework that way you don't miss any. Godspeed, everyone.
