She is very loud and obnoxious. She asks us at the end of each class if they have any questions, and what should be a 30 min class ends up taking the whole 50 mins. It is easy as heck to pass, as long as you do your work. But she teaches us stuff that doesn't even have anything to do with writing. She's my least favorite teacher so far at UNT.
The first review was inadequate and ignorant. I took her class English 1310 and now I'm in her 1320 class, she teaches based off of the English department yet makes our class fun and pushes students to think outside of normal writing techniques. You're going to college for your education so don't blame the teacher for your incompetence in the class
Professor Mitchell is an amazing teacher, and she is great at helping you understand exactly what to do . She is very understanding and extremely nice. I give her a big thumbs up.
Professor Mitchell is a real teacher. She gives her students plenty of materials to assist in the assignments. She cares for her students, their learning, and their overall well being. She teaches us things we can use in other classes and gives ample feedback. She is always willing to help. She is my favorite professor at UNT so far.
Prof. Mitchell is by far the best professor I have had at UNT. Her care for students exceeds any expectations I had going into this class. Made a 3 hour class completely fly by with her attitude and charisma. Completely understanding and reasonable with students. End of semester is so much fun, lots of discussion and group work.
She is one of the BEST professors at UNT. I wish I had the option of taking JOUR3410 with her Spring 2016- I def would've learned so much more. She prepares students for the professional world, so encouraging as well. My worst days during this semester were made better by listening to her lectures- students can apply them to real life. TAKE HER!!
Professor Mitchell is one of the BEST professors around! I would so taker her classes again! She's so sweet and caring, and she wants all of her students to do their best and pass the class. She actually cares about the students. She is very understanding.
if you attend class and try.. you will pass no doubt. Easy grader and cares about her students
Best English teacher ever! Nice and you wont fail if you try.
Professor Mitchell turned out to be an incredible pick for my Writing course. I got so incredibly lucky! She helped me out when she knew times were tough outside of class. Not to mention that she's totally real with her class. Definitely worth taking it with this professor!
Professor Mitchell is absolutely amazing! She is incredibly helpful, and understanding. Her down-to-earth attitude makes the class fun, and exciting. There's never a dull moment in her class. She makes sure that we have all the information and resources that we need to get our work done. She is a fantastic professor!
I promise you if you register for this professor you will do great. She makes you feel welcomed and treats her students as her children. She really cares for you and wants you to succeed. I myself was not very good at writing essays but that changed when I took this course. Would recommend this professor to anyone.
Professor Mitchell is absolutely amazing, her lectures are very fun and interactive. As long as you put in the effort to do what is assigned to you, you will earn your points. She also offers extra credit. She really cares about her students so it's an easy class to pass. She is very helpful and gives valuable feedback. Would definitely recommend.
I highly recommend taking Professor Mitchell's class. She makes the class fun, great lectures, and gives you many opportunities to raise your grade.
Mitchell is nice but not a good professor. She taught a Nonprofit PR class when she has not worked in PR a day in her life. I think she means well towards students but we wasted half the semester with group projects. If you skip class you may fail and do NOT use your cellphone. She does NOT use Blackboard and you wont get grades until the very end.
Very few grades, very EASY projects, very good information. I genuinely felt that Professor Mitchell wanted to me to succeed and at the same time made me want to change my major and get a life in PR. The kind of people in PR are so nice and I hope to be as happy in my career as the guest speakers she had in that class.
Professor Mitchell wasn't terrible, she was just a scatter brained. She did not use BlackBoard and it was very hard to keep up with your grades in her class. She also would not give us our test back so we can study for the final and made us force rank each other on group projects. She is a nice lady but the organization of her class was bad.
I've had a lot of professors at UNT; I really like Professor Mitchell. She gives a lot of tools to succeed in class and she let us use our notes for both the mid-term and final so take good notes. The guest speakers were great and I enjoyed the group project. I learned a lot in this class and would take this professor again if I wasn't graduating.
Ms. Mitchell is a great teacher, she actually cares about you after taking her class. She is very inspiring and keeps you motivated in class. She wants your full attention so DO NOT BE ON YOUR CELL PHONE
Professor Mitchell was the best professor I've had at UNT!! She is very kind, caring, and full of joy. 10/10 Recommend
Professor Mitchell was beyond amazing. Everyday with her was great, and her enthusiasm for teaching made class even better. I definitely gained some very important skills that can be applied throughout my college career. If you just attend class, put in effort, and stay focused you will be fine.
Professor Mitchell is by far my favorite professor I've had. She genuinely cares about all of her students and makes an effort to get to know them and help them in any way they need. Attendance is mandatory, however classes tend to be interesting. You won't need the textbook. Seriously, I can't recommend her enough, she's amazing.
Professor Mitchell is hands down one of the best professors to take in english. She walks you through every part step by step and is always ready to guide you when need be. After being away from school for 6 years, she gave me great tools to use to take on projects in every class I have taken so far!
Her students love her. She's is personal and cares. I found her to be quite easy.
I liked her okay but she talked herself up at the beginning of the semester. She's a lot like a high school teacher and does the whole "pull a student out in the hall" business. She doesn't grade hard though, I had an easy time acing the papers. Her grading criteria is extremely clear and she's very accessible--she will give you her cell number.
Professor Mitchell, is an excellent instructor. She is very clear with her instruction and will assist any student to make sure all of their questions are answered to pass her course. She makes her self available outside of class to answer questions. I will refer her to fellow students and look forward to taking her classes in the future.
I have taken Professor Mitchell's classes for multiple semesters because of how amazing she is at what she does. The classes she teaches are not difficult, but require your participation and attentiveness in order for you to pass. You can almost always reach her and will make an effort to reach out to her students to ensure that they are alright.
I absolutely loved having Professor Mitchell as my English professor. I liked her class so much for comp 1, I made sure I signed up for her class for comp 2. She works at an easy pace, but don't take her laid-back approach for granted! You must do your work on time, and show up for class. That's it!
This is a GREAT class if you take advantage of it. She makes the assignments very easy to navigate and the concepts are SIMPLE! She works primarily through lecturing and posts lecture notes on BB for the class. Not a ton of assignments so it's NOT HEAVY. The worst part of it is the STUDENTS who are lazy and complain the whole time. TAKE THIS ONE!
professor mitchells lectures are always refreshing and comforting, a very kind professor and will help you succeed in any way possible.
Did I learn anything about non-profits? No not really. Is she highly disorganized? Yes. Is she understanding? Yes. It's not a hard class, but if you like organization and structure, it will be hard adjusting to her.
Not very organized and is vague with her instructions on assignments, but she is very helpful if you reach out to her. A lot of group discussion and busy work (which should be expected for an English class). She works at a slower pace which I really liked and is a very kind professor. This course is an easy A.
This isn't a difficult class. The assignments are pretty easy and if you apply yourself and pay attention to detail, you will do well. The course is slightly disorganized, and it's hard not knowing what your grade is on blackboard until the end. But you should really be okay. Kelly is understanding. You just have to adjust to they way her class is.
Professor Mitchell is very caring and wants everyone in her class to succeed. I have taken her for two semesters and would jump at the opportunity to have her as a professor again. Syllabus organization is a bit confusing but you will get an A as long as you show up and give effort.
My favorite professor this semester and I wish I could take her again next semester. She is willing to help you with absolutely anything and gives you her cell phone number so you could contact her when you were in the middle of a paper and got stuck. She is super caring and wants you to pass. I usually hate English but she helped me love it!
Professor Mitchell is really kind and welcoming. She is someone who is easy to talk to. You can tell that she really does want to her students to succeed. She takes her time with grading, but that's a given in an any class that you have to write papers in. As long as you do the work, it's not a difficult class.
She's really an awesome professor. No busy work, everything is meaningful and deliberate. She makes sure you understand what you're doing. It's not a bad work load at all, especially compared to other english classes.
At the beginning of this class I really didn't like Prof. Mitchell. But she grew on me. ATTENDANCE MATTERS!!! if you miss one class you lose 5% of your final grade! She's not too specific on what she wants of you at all so its hard to know what you're doing . She gives students her cellphone number. Heavy participation. Great person so-so teacher.
I'm so happy to be able to have a professor like professor Mitchell. She cares so much for her students and will not give assignments if the class is not prepared for it. Even if you need extra help its very easy to contact her and get help. I have never enjoyed an English class as much as I have enjoyed her class. Would highly recommend her class
Professor Mitchell is beyond fair when it comes to participation grading. She provides plenty of opportunities and options for high grades. Her material is important to remember and is usually repeated, so notes are important. She is well established in the field of professional PR, especially in the DFW area and could hook you up.
NOT A FAN! I found her lack of organization annoying. I think teaching freshman is more her speed and not upper-class level courses. She handed me back my assignment, then told me she never got it. The class was boring, I think the entire class hated going to class. DON'T TAKE.
Better person than she is a teacher. I don't think upperclassmen are her speed. She needs to stick with freshman and sophomores. She's disorganized to the point where it could keep you from getting an A. You're not graded by a lot, so you better grind. Also, stress her for clarification or she won't give it too you.
Prof Mitchell is a great professor. I enjoyed her laid back style & positive attitude. She gives you a handout with detailed instruction on what is expected. I loved volunteering & actually did it twice & earned extra credit. A handful of students complained all the time and were lazy, which frustrated other students. Great class and teacher.
I had some challenges this semester and Professor Mitchell worked with me and was understanding of my situation. I appreciate her a lot. This class was fun overall and I enjoyed learning about the Dragonfly Effect. Overall it was a great class and I like her as a teacher and person. Don't pay attention to the negative comments. She is did great.
A down to earth professor in class, a genuine listener outside of it, and a realistic and wholesome human being in general. She can inspire you and educate you in many ways. Just open your ears, attend class, and have fun. Communities are built by professors like her, she is a gateway to understanding the world we live in.
shes a very nice professor that will help you anyway she can so that you can pass. gives MANY extra credit opportunities and will always make time for you outside of class. however she is a little stingy with giving out A's in the class.
Professor Mitchell was an extremely down to earth and caring professor who always had the students best interests at heart. Even if you fall behind she is extremely understanding and will do whatever she can to help improve your grade. Not only does she help you inside the class but in other aspects of life as well.
Dont trust the negative comments. Probably written by some entitled student that doesn't know how to follow instruction or turn in the assignments on time. I am taking Prof Mitchell in the Spring after taking her last semester. Great person, cares and very clear on her instructions for the student to pass the course. I RECOMMEND
No phones. A couple group projects. Makes you read some of your poems or journal entries aloud. Not the best teacher in my opinion because I didn't really learn so I wouldn't take her again if I had the choice. And she didn't put in any grades until after the semester was over.
Prof. Mitchell is a nice professor but I would suggest only taking her class in person. Avoid taking the online class. Her instructions are often lengthy and not fully clear as to what she wants. she does answer emails and questions fast but often almost forgets I would say about her online classes. lovely person and very caring though.
Although the online English class was not easy, Professor Mitchell did a great job giving prompt feedback to help you improve. She is accessible on any day if you need help and gives out her cell number so you can actually reach her. I found her to be funny and caring. I would highly recommend taking a class with her online or in person. Great job.
Go to class because if you have perfect attendance then you get extra credit added.
As I sit here in her class I can't understand why people have rated this professor so highly. She started off quite nice, but then started kicking people out of class who didn't do homework?? I am in a 3000 level class that has an easier workload than this freshman level class. I wish I could switch teachers because I can't stand being here.
Professor Mitchell is a professional. She always gives clear instructions and post almost everything on Canvas so you can go back and review information. There are a lot of class activities and some group work. I enjoyed this class a lot. I would recommend Professor Mitchell. I have taken two classes with her and find her very consistent and nice.
Professor Mitchell creates a very inviting environment for all students. Probably one of the most understanding professors I have had at the university especially for me in a time where I had to leave the state for awhile and came back to her helping me get caught up no questions asked. Technical communication has become one of my favorite courses!
I have had the privilege to have Professor Mitchell for three semesters. I highly recommend her to UNT students that want to thrive. She sets the class up for success and will make time to meet with her students if they have questions or trouble with the class. It has been an absolute blessing to have her for my first English college classes.
Engaged and caring professor who is willing to work with each student in order to bring out their strengths and work on their weaknesses. Works as best she can within the syllabus and course content (department-created) in order to make the class as comprehensive as possible. Attendance is required, with group work the second half of the semester.
She provided amazing feedback and rewarded you for using her corrections. She was fair and caring for her students. She is highly skilled and knows what she is talking about. Lots of reading quizzes. 2 major group projects. Little homework besides reading. Uses class time efficiently and makes it enjoyable.
She really is a nice and cool person. I enjoyed having her as a professor. I will say that the instructions for our assignments were extremely confusing. It was hard to know exactly what to do. Also, the engagement activities were really annoying. A ton of assignments, so just make sure you are on top things and turn them in on time.
Professor Mitchell is dedicated to teaching her students. She is an expert in business and has a lot of clear examples to push the classroom learning forward. Two group projects but they weren't bad (I made some friends). She gives a lot of feedback on assignments and will add encouraging notes sometimes. I like her. Totally recommend.
She is a difficult grader. For example she'll give you a 100 for a draft and pointers of things to change, then when you change what is needed she'll give you a 80 because it is not "significant enough". Also give a lot of busy work & doesn't explain things well. Overall if your given the chance & don't want a headache take someone else online.
I took Technical Communications online with Professor Mitchell. Although the curriculum was challenging, she was always available to answer my questions. Don't listen to the negative on here. Probably some student who didn't pull his/her weight in the class in the group project. I highly recommend taking Professor Mitchell's online class in TC.
Professor Mitchell does care about her students, but she is "hardcore". She is a very intelligent woman, and does her best to motivate and inspire students. There was occasional homework, most work was done in-class with 2 big group projects. She has the most experience as a TECM teacher and gives excellent feedback. Take her if you can!!
One of the best professors I've ever had. Best writing class by far. If you do your work you will make an A.
Group work in an online class? Really? Avoid TECM 2700 online like the plague. Most assignments are vague, and the instructions are written poorly, needing clarification through Canvas announcements each time. This class was very inflexible with assignments, especially during exam weeks. Many late nights working with people that are barely awake.
Even though this class had some challenges I really loved Professor Mitchell. She sent out a lot of weekly announcements to help us succeed. She was also available to help me during the week with a simple Canvas email. She responded quickly. I do recommend taking this professor's online class. She is a real pro. Great teacher.
Most of the assignments were almost impossible to understand, the due dates were very inflexible so you really have to pay attention. Professor Mitchell does her best to give good feedback however is very strict on her policies and is a tough grader. Major grades are mainly based on group work. I would avoid taking this class online at all costs.
This class was the biggest pain. It was miserable. Ignore the positive reviews. I'd ask very pointed questions about her outrageous directions and she would just copy and paste the directions I was asking about. I put my heart and soul into projects and received horrible feedback. So much group work in an ONLINE class. I cried so many times.
Geezzz. All the cry babies. Mitchell rocks! Take her class. Turn in your work and you will pass. Id take her class again.
Even if you try your hardest, she is impossible to get an A from on big projects. Also, have fun working with your group at 11:30pm at night before you have to turn in your project. You have no choice; group work is a big part of class. Other online TECM professors don't do group work, take them instead. Or take it in person. Don't take this class.
Overall I like Professor Mitchell. She does send a lot of announcements to try to help you so be sure you set your Canvas notifications. There are some harder assignments in this class and I didn't like the group work, but overall she is a good professor. Very smart. And, she always responded to my emails quickly. I do recommend her online class.
Reasonable person
She was very bad at giving feedback and often gave poor replies to emails. Ironically, for a technical writing professor, she made her instructions very hard to read, had it not been for that I would have gotten a higher grade.
Professor Mitchell is very sweet and I believe she has good intentions. However, if you are a student that likes to work ahead or be able to look at a clear syllabus, she is not the professor for you. She takes a very long time to grade and her feedback normally just restates what the assignment says, no specifications. LOTS OF ASSIGNMENTS!
Perhaps the easiest class I've ever taken. Each week you are assigned one discussion post or assignment to complete. If you do it you get full credit, barring any overly bad mistakes. While you only really get a copy-pasted response for each assignment, the course grade is what matters most. Definitely would have taken this 1 hour class in a 3 week
This professor is horrible. She is VERY confusing with announcements/emails. She makes such a simple class complicated. Every single week our class has to email her to remind her to do her job and post a quiz, open an assignment, etc. The irony of her teaching a professional development class is crazy. She's also a rude person.
This was an online business professional development course so it was obviously easy. Does take a while to reply to messages but fairly organized course. Criteria is well-detailed.
No late work. Her emails are slightly condescending. Work due every single week. Makes a very easy class unenjoyable and difficult. Annoying.
I can't criticize Mitchell all that much because BUSI3660 is a difficult class. The other profs aren't going to be teaching this class any better. Prof Mitchell made this class alright. The crappy curriculum isn't her fault. Be prepared to stress/really work for this class though, lots of tedious assignments (at least online) and even a final exam.
Took for 5W summer. Every assignment is basically just a participation grade, so as long as you submit your work on time you will receive a 100. Super easy class, but it felt pointless. The feedback was unhelpful & everything felt like busy work. Also, you weren't allowed to get more than a week ahead, which was annoying bc it was only a 5W course.
This is the easiest A you will receive in your entire life. I took this as a 5 week summer class. Every assignment is basically pass or fail. Turn in the work, you get a 100%. Extra credit opportunities as well. My final grade in the class was a 102%. Most of the work is busy work, so the class is more on the boring side. Take this professor!
No deadline extensions, tough grading yet reasonable. This is suppose to be an easy A but I missed couple of assignments and that reasons my B. Good instructor. This course is anyway about your own work and completion of assignements on time. But the instructor's work was well organized/guided and clear for the students to follow the course
Everything is so easy I barley try and still get 100s. I would say the only hard thing in class is the quizzes but they are grammar quizzes so there not really hard. Group project are easy. Highly recommend this class in person. She showed me this class online and they have so much more work so take it in person if u want less work. Extra credit.
Professor Mitchell is AMAZING! She is straight-to-the-point, and what you learn in her class can be applied outside the classroom. The work itself is relatively easy if you put the effort in. She genuinely cares about her students and wants her students to succeed both in and outside the classroom. You will need the textbook for assignments.
The work isn't difficult, but she can't communicate. She answers questions 3 or more days later, often after the relevant assignment is due. What answers she does provide don't offer any clarification. She does not grade assignments in a timely manner. She has no business teaching speech classes.
I took this class 8 years ago now and I still think about this amazing professor. I only had 3 professors who truly inspired me and she was one of them. She not only cared about her students, but never made me feel dumb for asking questions. Group projects were a lot of work, but she was outstanding.
