Dr. O was awesome! Knew how to keep her students engaged. Will throw in a few funny remarks. Thoroughly enjoyed her lectures. She makes you work for the A, but she gives great feedback! Definitely cares about her students. Personally my favorite teacher.

Dr. O is fun and keeps the class engaged. TopHat is used for participation and attendance, so go to class. She makes a seating chart which is stupid, but you get used to it. Research participation is a part of the grade and she does let you do 5 extra research credits as part of your extra credit. Study guides aren't helpful so make sure to study.

She is a great professor. She really cares about her students and her lectures were very engaging. She is funny and encourages participation. This class had a lot of papers and quizzes, but no tests. You have to read to learn. It is not hard to get a good grade in this class.

Any COMST student dreads 404. Because of COVID, Dr. O. was excellent at accommodating the project and expectations to make it doable for us. She is very hands-on and helps you through all the hard steps of your project. She makes sure to give you full attention on your questions even if there's a line of students behind you.

Dr. Odenweller is great at what she does and she makes the lectures very easy to engage in. She lays out everything you need very clearly and if you put in the work you will be successful in the class. Overall, it's an interesting course.

Professor O. was a great professor! I took her class online, and although there were weekly meetings, she really made sure that we learned and understood our textbook and communications. She made herself easily accessible even when we didn't have class through office hours, and responded to emails quickly. She made online class fun!

Dr. O. was always prepared for our weekly class meetings. She had ample materials on her powerpoint slides and did a great job of explaining the materials in every day language. She used our lectures to increase our knowledge of communication beyond the textbook. She was friendly, caring, and thoughtful with her feedback too! I recommend her class!

I thought that it was intense for a course of four weeks. The only thing I would change would be that I would add one more day to turn in your assignments. Currently you have from Monday to Friday to read 3 chapters, do three quizzes and turn in an essay; I really think Saturday would be helpful. Other than that this course is amazing !!!

If you can get a really solid grade just by attending all the lectures and do all the readings. She is also pretty relaxed when it comes to lectures so you always feel nice when participating.

Dr. Odenweller was a great professor! She puts a lot of effort into her course content, so ensure not to take all the preparation she is doing for you for granted! Participation matters, so attend the lectures and take notes! For activity assignments, ACTUALLY note her feedback, it will help you earn back points later on.

Dr. Odenweller did a fantastic job crunching a lot of information in four weeks. Everything was well organized and was outlined clearly including the grading criteria for attendance, quizzes, and activity assignments. She was available outside of virtual meeting times and made it easy for students to reach out and communicate. I'd have her again!

Professor O. was great! took her online class in Summer 2020. In four weeks we learned a lot. She made the materials easier to study from and we had fun!

She did an awesome job at lecturing at a fast pace (fitting 3 chapters of material in a lecture once a week) for an online class. She was always available for help outside of class and made the material easy to learn through using real life examples. Attend class, do your assignments and you will do fine.

I had a great experience in Dr.O's class during her winter section. She was very responsive on her emails and helped push me in the right direction. She gave me guidance through this course, as I was taking it from home, online. Overall I had a great experience with Dr.O!

Going into COMST214 for the winter term I was nervous about managing my time and completing the work while on winter break, but this class and specifically Dr. Odenweller gave me all the tools I would need to be successful. The group project is a fun assignment and the quizzes can be completed with ease as long as you read the book.

This course and Professor Odenweller was pretty great. I needed to take a communications credit and this is the class to take. I learned a lot and the content will help you in so many ways as a student, employee, and just a person. I took this course in a 6 week period and the workload was not bad at all. The teaching style that professor Odenweller used for this course was very easy to navigate and every assignment was explained very well. Aside from that, professor Odenweller's availability was very flexible and this helped a lot.

Considering this is an online class and the only way to communicate is through email or zoom, it is important for professors to respond to their students as soon as possible. Dr. O did a great job on efficiently responding to me when I needed help. Also, the layout of this course was easy to follow and explained well. I recommend this course!

The course was very well laid out and explained, so I did not once have to reach out to the professor with questions regarding content or deadlines. Average difficulty made very easy by her organization.

She was very kind and helped our group a lot during the way. If we did not get a very high score she would explain what we needed to fix and work on to help us better the project. The grading for the two essays was very clear and easy to follow, and even gave us tips to make sure we would get a better score.

Professor Odenweller was a great professor. Her winter course was fully online and it is one of the better online classes I have taken so far. She sends out reminders and gives clear details for the assignments with a descriptive grading rubric along with helpful feedback. The textbook and modules were easily accessible as well. Took this class in the summer and it was pretty easy. Homework was pretty easy and attendance was once a week. There's also lots of extra credit at the end which was really helpful if you didn't do well on a quiz or assignment.

I took the COMST 101 4-week summer course. It was fairly easy and she did not overwhelm us with busy work. My only complaint was that the PowerPoints got too political. Other than that, I recommend Dr. O!

Dr. O was great! She gives examples as she presented information from slides and genuinely is interested in the well-being of students. She also provides additional resources such as supplemental learning videos and flashcards. The quizzes were harder than anticipated, but I still learned a lot from reading the textbook and slides.

Dr. O. is a great professor. I would 100% recommend students to take a class with her, especially over the summer. She is very nice and gives great feedback. She also gives a lot more extra credit than the average professor; however, I wish that she didn't make the quizzes so hard, as well as timed and on LockDown Browser. Kinda hurt my grade.

Professor O was great to have this summer. You could tell that she was truly passionate about what she was teaching and was very interactive and wanted our input. She listed well to us and if you had any questions she was always there and responded very fast. You do have to read all of the chapters, but they are honestly very interesting.

I took this as an elective for an online summer class and it was very fun to learn about how families work. There was a lot of reading but it was definitely worth it. The class was to difficult but made you work for your points. Professor O was very good with feedback and very responsive when you had a question.

Class is mainly focused on quizzes and then writing assignments which are two-page paper assignments using the information from class and personal experiences and tieing them together.

This class was very easy to follow and you learn a lot about communication and its applications. Professor is very passionate! You need to attend an online lecture once a week and homework are due once a week too, including a couple of quizzes and a short paper.

not sure why, but with the class being only 4 weeks for the summer, seemed like a big crunch in material and homework. THought that if it started at the beginning of the semester, would have better chance to absorb the material. Felt rushed and heavily loaded weekly with reading and homework.

I thought it would be really difficult fitting 3 quizzes and a writing assignment as weekly homework, but it moved really fast and is actually a good way to take this course.

Dr. O was great. I was taking her COMST 101 class online and enjoyed her lectures as well as how she tried to get everyone involved by asking open ended questions and relating content to relevant things in life. Would definitely take again!

I appreciated how clear she was with her expectations. She also helped to ask any questions that I had and was helpful in finding additional information as well. For weekly quizzes, there wasn't too much reading that it was overwhelming and the quizzes were straightforward.

She is clear with what she wants and how the quizzes are going to be. The grading is clear and it is an easy class. If you are a good communicator you may not even need to open the textbook, except for quizzes.

Overall I would say that this class is easy compared to others I have taken. Although, there is a lot of writing in this course, so make sure to complete the writing assignments and cite the textbook. There are opportunities for extra credit which is nice and the professor provides good feedback. Overall great class!

Really organized format and easy to follow. For a four-week summer course, we only met once a week and it was less work than I thought it would be. Great professor, very helpful, too.

Dr. O is very thorough and organized in her class. The 4 week online summer class was surprisingly full of content without being overwhelming. She is also very accommodating when you have personal conflicts. Her lectures use a lot of real life examples that make the material easier to understand and also make them more entertaining.

I really enjoyed HDFS 270 with her. She took the time to learn our names in class, and she provided ample opportunities to listen to students discuss topics. Her lectures were interesting and engaging. The assignments were actually beneficial, and she made the classroom a very welcoming and personable environment.

this class was easy, there were quizzes and writing assignments (2 pgs) every week but manageable. quizzes are open note and not too difficult, but if you don't come to class or try to read the textbook, you won't do that well with questions about concepts and applying the concepts to real life. love Dr. O, was a great class overall.

This is without a doubt the best professor I have had at Iowa State. I took this for a US diversity credit and I have no regrets about it. The class is pretty note-heavy but I swear it is not like the stereotypical boring type of note class Odenweller does a great job at remembering names even if you only speak once. I wish every prof was like this

I loved this prof, she knows what she's talking about and makes class intriguing. The quizzes she does do not really pertain to the lecture material, so make sure you read the book every week. The TA she had also gave great feedback on the papers we had to write. Give some effort in the class and you'll succeed.

I recommend this class for anyone needing a "diversity credit". Just be warned that she is very strict and "by the book" when it comes to attendance, late work, and other administrative things.

I loved having this professor. There were no tests, only quizzes each week but they were open-book and open-note. The class was also helpful in my communication skills!

Clear grading criteria; weekly online quizzes; weekly online textbook assignments; no exams, midterm, or final. Attendance is taken over EZ CheckMe (same concept as Top Hat). Can be a lot of reading and note-taking but she keeps the class engaging and interesting. Great communicator & would 100% take again :)

Loved her! There were quizzes and reading each week, and we had graded group discussions every couple of weeks. She doesn't have any exams in the class and offers extra credit by attending things going on around campus. She has been the only professor who asked and memorized everyone's names, and you can tell that she really cares!

Kelly is really nice, understanding and her lectures are fun. COMST 101 is an interesting class and really easy. She has weekly quizzes and one weekly reading assignment, all due sunday (Super easy as well if you pay attention during her lectures).

COMST 101 was a very easy A and Kelly was a great professor. I missed an assignment and she let me make it up solely because I hadn't missed one previously. Overall, her lectures are interesting and you can tell she cares about her students.

Very good professor. I thoroughly enjoyed this class. Get ready to write though, those writing assignments were lengthy, but not hard (I had a lot of trouble, but I also tried to cram my writing into 2 hours lol). Attendance was mandatory, and she made made the lectures fun, as well as educational. The Coach Me questions are easy. Would recommend!

Great professor! Can tell that she cares about her students and made lectures very easy to follow. However attendance was taken with TopHat, grade only consisted of coachme questions and quizzes over course content.

There's a lot of completion-based assignments to easily boost your grade, but missing too many classes tanks your grade due to the weight participation points hold. She isn't super responsive to emails and won't budge on late work/attendance policies either, but there is a TA which can be helpful, and she is always available to talk after class.

Very interesting class and she makes it very interesting, she is also very fun and caring and inclusive. I recommend showing up, as a large chunk of your grade is in class activities, and you can not make them up if you miss. No midterm, no final. Weekly quiz online, pretty easy if you have notes. Every-other-week writing assignment, not hard.
