Mrs. Owen is an awesome English professor - her papers are kind of hard...but her classes are interesting and she is REALLY NICE in her office... She is also extremely willing to help you in research and writing. Definitely take her.

She is very clear on what she expects from a student. Her course is fairly simple if you do the work. She is helpful in her course and is willing to help with future papers after her course. Firm but fair.

she is very hot...but she sucks. even after writing a draft and having her correct it, i still never got above a 75 on a paper. she sucks. she sucks. but then again, almost every english teacher at this school sucks

OK 1st off she thinks shes teaching an upper level Harvard English class, and she has A HUGE attitude. she feels the need to oppress the class with her ignorant views on war, etc. she needs to get the hell of her high horse and realize shes teaching 101

Everyone who says shes a bad teacher just sucks at english. If you go to class, do the work, ask questions when youre confused, you'll do well. I had her last semester too and I have no complaints!

Mrs. Owen has got to be the best English teacher I've ever had. She doesn't grade hard, you just can't slack off and expect to get a good grade, duh. She has fun lectures and she is willing to do everything and anything, at any time, for her students.

This class was the best one I have ever had. It was difficult but hello we are in college! She was the most helpful teacher I've ever had and she offers her own time to help with whatever she can! Will read multiple drafts and gives very helpful advice!

I honestly look forward to class everyday. And if I would have read the stuff we were supposed to read, I would've enjoyed it more. She's a hard essay grader, but there aren't but maybe 5 or 6 for the semester. I can understand how the conservatives could get put off by her, but she is fantastic.

The key to doing well is having her read your papers before they're due! She'll look over them thoroughly and will give you all the help you need so that there's pretty much no way for you to make a bad grade. She's really friendly and approachable and always amusing.

She's a good teacher, but she is really tough when it comes to grading papers. If you want to improve on your writing, take her. She is more than willing to help you out. She's a very fair teacher. But this class takes lots of work.

Extended every paper deadline for me, not by a couple of days -- but usually weeks. Put forth effort, she'll recognize it and love you for it. The best teacher you could take for english.. You WILL be a better writer at the end - swear to god.

This woman is female dog attitude wise but is smokin hot.Failed the class cause I stared at her ass.

All this class consists of are 5 paragraph essays!! Sounds easy, but she is a really hard grader, dont risk your gpa!!!

She's the best teacher anyone will ever have. Getting an "A" is not easy, but anyone who says it is impossible didn't put complete effort into her class. She provides all the needed information to receive such a grade, while making you work for it. Not only is she a great teacher she is a great person always willing to help. She is an inspiration!

Prof. Owen is one of the best instructors I've ever had. She is fun, informative, and extremely helpful. She made class something I looked forward to, not something I dreaded. I learned just as much about life as I did about writing papers. And yes, she is a very hard paper grader, but you will come out of there writing better. She = awesome.

She is a really hard teacher and grades papers really hard, but she will read over your papers before they are due and help you with them, Make sure you READ you will have lots of quizzes over the reading that will effect your grade.

Owen is an awesome teacher, fun, intelligent, sexy. I looked forward to every class, great sense of humor, VERY OPINIONATED. If u don't like to argue and debate I would not suggest it. Lots of reading but very good selection and discussion, learn a ton. , so keep up on the reading. EXTREMELY helpful you to turn in draft papers. Highly recommend.

Excellent professor! The best! She grades hard, but she helps you so much and her lectures are fun. Gives quizzes on the reading, but as long as you read your fine. I don't know what the people are talking about who gave her a bad rating because she is excellent! And i would tell anyone to take her! Go to her office hours and she will help you!

Very smart and competent professor. She really cares about writing. She'll teach you how to write if you are willing to learn and put in the effort. Don't listen to students who complain about her--they just don't want to do the work. CofC should hire more profs like her. There are too many profs here who have low standards and that's sad.

I took Professor Owen for her english 102 class, and all I've got to say is the world could use more professors like her. Her class is fun, it's a bit tough, but you get alot out of it as well. She really makes you think, and afterall, who wants to be a mindless drone? Do your work, READ because she does give quizzes from time to time.

AMAZING teacher! Best I have ever had hands down. We need more profs like her. I dont want to be an English major and I love her. She will execpt as many drafts for a paper as you can write, so by the due date it is an "A." Makes you think alot and class is fun. Anyone one says anything bad doesnt want to do any work. She is definatly a hard grader. But once you understand what she wants the class is a lot more fun and easier. She wants to help you and for you to excel in her class. She is an awesome teacher who will work with you, no matter your writing style. Hand in as many drafts as possible.. it will be for your benefit!

All I have to say is go to her office because you will get D's and maybe even an F on your papers, but she will work with you & maybe let you rewrite the paper! She may seem like a b sometimes, but she's alright. Class discussions are fun.

My favorite professor by far but the hardest class. I've become a much better writer as a result, and enjoyed going to class, but the work outside of class was ridiculous compared to other english 101s. she grades extremely hard but is very willing to help if you put in an effort

Everything she taught was VERY interesting and her finals were very easy. Her quizes will kill you. They are detail questions--the pop quizes are MEANT to bring grades up, but it brings them down a lot of the time. It's supposed to be a composition class. But she's really good about proof reading papers.

Mrs. Owen is a great teacher and really cares about her students. Her class isn't exactly easy but I looked foward to going to her class in the morning. Make sure you let her proof read your essays, if you do, you'll most likely make an A, otherwise, not even close. Oh and read the homework assigned cuz you'll have quizzes. I would take her again.

PHENOMONAL professor, she's absolutely brilliant! if you care about your grade enough to consult her for help in writing, she will certainly help you learn to write. The first essay I wrote for her in 101 I left the class crying with an F, but I took her again for 102 and my last paper in the class was a 97, and i've made nothing but A's in english

Her class was sooo interesting, never boring! I learned so much in this class, she really helps you improve your writing but she does grade pretty hard. I'd def suggest taking her!

Best teacher I have had in a long time. She will make you better at writing. Very interesting, never a boring class. It is impossible to cheat on her papers. Read all the short stories and take notes in your books. She is amazing.

She is the best teacher I have had in college. Her class was crazy hard, but I think it's worth it. She taught me how to write. I worked my but off and got an A in 101&102 with her. I now go to Clemson, and because of Owen I got an A EASILY in my english classes here. If you're lazy/don't care, take another section.

Very funny, interesting and sarcastic.She knows what she teaches.If writing is not your thing then I would not reccommend this class.There are 4 essays and she offers to help by reading roughdrafts or by helping with thesis statements.she grades papers very tough.For example, she grades the SAT!!You can redeem yourself with quizes from readings.

Class is really fun because she can really relate to college students because she's young. But for the fun you have in class, she makes up for it with her essays. They are extremely hard, and she's a tough grader. She will help you, but you have to be willing to ask for it. She's a great teacher and actually knows whats shes doing.

The class is interesting and she's a good teacher but DO NOT TAKE if you wouldn't like to spend your entire reading day in the library on an impossible essay. She grades way too hard for english 102 and is way too critical. I've had suicidal thoughts while writing some of her essays, including the one that's compelled me to warn potential students.

She is an amazing professor. The best teacher I have had in college so far. The work is challenging, and I didn't come out with an A, but it was worth it. brilliant woman. i do not wake up early, but i would be in her office everyday at 7 am getting help. she wants to help you so go to her. she is incredible. on our last day she told us that she wasn't out teacher for that semester she was out teacher for life. she is always there for anyone. i love her!

I am in her 101 class now and I don't think I'll come out with an A but it's worth it. She completely changed the way I read, write and think. She's so animated in class and I'm never bored, never even think about pulling out my cell phone (and that's saying something). if you can take her class, do it!!

This class is the hardest class I have ever taken. I have kicked my own ass for every single paper but I have to say it is so very worth it. If you can handle the workload, I would definitely take it. K.Owen is awesome and I basically wish I was her.

Excellent teacher, and incredible person. Takes a genuine interest in students, but takes herself a little too seriously. Class is outrageously difficult for what it is. I had extenuating circumstances (death in family after prolonged illness) and although she was very sympathetic was unwilling to work with me like my other teachers :(

Best teacher I have had since I started school. Very difficult, but taught me how to intelligently write a paper at the college level. Without her my GPA across the board would be much lower. Genuinely thoughtful woman who will remain to be my friend for a long time.

Fabulous teacher! Improved my writing and learned some incredible life skills. I highly recommend taking this class if you actually want to LEARN and IMPROVE (which is really supposed to be the reason you're in college, no?) Go to class, put effort into your work and you will love this class!

Great teacher. Very fun! You learn how to write and the reading material is always interesting. There are a lot of assignments, but they always have a purpose and are helpful for the rest of your college career. Highly recommended to knock out that English requirement!

An absolutely wonderful teacher. Hardest class I've ever taken in my entire life and I ended up receiving a poor grade... but I wouldn't change the experience for anything. I looked forward to attending her class each day and although I had trouble with her assignments she allowed for so many rewrites and chances to raise the grade.

This class was rediculously hard, but I would recommend it if you want to improve your writing. She is a very helpful teacher and gives you a lot of guides to help with assignments.

Kelly was an amazing teacher, and an amazing woman. However, don't underestimate her assignments, you'll regret it. She's very helpful if you meet with her, one on one. On my first paper, I recieved a "D-F Range," my last paper was a B+, and I walked out of the class with an A. Kelly literally knows so much about so many things. Awesome teacher!

Take her!!! You will not regret it. The class can be a lot of work and a lot of reading but it is worth it in the end. She teaches you a lot of very useful skills. There are reading quizzes almost every class but they are easy if you read. A few papers to write. The final was very easy if you paid attention all semester. She is very helpful also

I'm only rating this because the comments are so damn funny. She is difficult, and she does give off a sense of being liberal but I like her. Maybe I shouldn't, but I do. If you want a teacher that will kiss your ass, don't take her; if you want to be challenged, take her. Whatever man, it's your life after all.

Prof Owen is a great teacher. Her assignments are very challenging but if you put the effort in you will come out a better writer. Make sure to schedule meeting with her to discuss your paper. She can be a very helpful critic. Make sure to interact during class so she gets to know you better and try to sit up front if that's your thing.

One of my favorite professors at C of C! I really was not a fan of english until I took Owens class. She really improved my writing. This class has a lot of work along with it but its totally worth it in the end!

No, she's not easy, and some students obviously didn't put in the effort and are feeling bitter. If you want to improve your writing skills and engage in interesting texts, take her class. On the first paper I received "D range" but finished the class with an A. It's not that painful. She's an awesome lady. Best teacher I've had at CofC.

I have never submitted anything for this website before, but I think it is SO CRUCIAL for Owen to get recognition. Her work load is so hard and her grading may seem unfair, but you almost always get a second chance to get a better grade. Her class is so interesting and engaging I wish I could take it again. Just go to ONE class and you'll see.

I love Ms. Owen. I originally thought I wouldn't have to take English this year, but honestly I love her class and actually look forward to her class. The class itself is so interesting & she's so smart. She's tough & it's a heavy workload, but honestly her goal is to make her students amazing writers. Definitely recommend taking her class!

Kelly Owen is an incredible instructor. She's one of the most interesting people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting... extremely knowledgeable, vibrant, and passionate about what she does. Loves controversial topics. Not an easy class by any means, but if she were easy, I wouldn't have gotten nearly as much out of the class as I did.

She is a tough grader, however, by the end of the semester you will see such an improvement in your work. She wants to see you succeed and will do her best to get you the highest grade you can get. She is very inspirational and pushes you to be the best you can be.

The most memorable and transitional experience I had at CofC. Prof. Owen can teach you how to write technically and eloquently, just take her criticism and learn from it. This lady cares about her students and their education. She will grade you rigorously and if you do the work she will make you into a writer. Let her teach you; it's her passion. Once I forgot we had a quiz and was having a rough morning, she let me come back for her next class to make it up. I'm grateful.

Prof. Owen is one of the best teachers I've had at CofC! A good amount of work, but in doing so, she has helped me improve my writing so much. A great sense of humor (the type of person you'd love to keep in contact with and meet up for a pint) and a genuine person. One of the coolest professors at the college. TAKE HER. I started off the year writing in the D-F range and by the end of the year I was making A's on papers. She is always there to help you, it may be a lot of hard work and effort but it IS worth it. She uses the most interesting subjects to teach, and I wish I could take her class again.

Owen is wonderful in class and I love her as a person, but she completely dragged down my GPA this semester. I spent hours editing papers just so that I could get a C. By far one of the toughest graders to exist in college history, but she's intelligent, passionate, and a blast in class. If you decide to take her, know it will be HARD.

This was the most fascinating English course I had ever taken. Professor Owen has enough passion to go around for everyone and she's super enthused when it comes to the subject. Really inspirational! Stay on top of what she has scheduled on the syllabus- complete the work as soon as it is assigned if possible. She wants you to succeed, so you need to actually work in her class because she intends to make you a good researcher and writer. Proofread, utilize the writing lab, and learn how to create a work cited from scratch.

Professor Owen comes off as scary at first, but is actually very kind and helpful. Don't ask her questions about homework if it's written out on the syllabus or she'll get mad. Do your homework and try your best on the papers because she does what she can to make sure you do the best you can. Be prepared to cite some sources and learn the library.

Professor Owen is one of the best professors this damn college has to offer. Her class is very time consuming and you WILL READ & WRITE! Lectures are interesting! An inspirational and caring woman who genuinly loves English and wants her students to succeed; however, you will have to work for it. This is the only class where I walked away thinking, "That was worth the $3,000." Take her, do your hw and you'll be fine.

She expects a lot from her students. In fact, I'm a bit nervous that she'll see this review and make corrections... but I couldn't be happier with the education I'm receiving every time I walk into her room. Initially the syllabus scared me, but her warm personality and thought provoking lectures are unparalleled. TAKE HER CLASS.

This class can be overwhelming at times but in the end, very much worth all of the stress. You can tell how dedicated she is and her lectures make both the class and the books read through the course interesting in a way I did not know they could be. So much work, but very worth it.

This is the hardest class I have ever taken in my life. She gives so many assignments and is a super tough grader. Although her class is difficult, she is willing to work with her students to improve grades. I noticed that after my completion of the course my writing has changed dramatically. It was worth working through the pain of the course.

The first few weeks of this class, I broke out in zits because of the amount of work she assigns (she does a lot of grading...) but she is absolutely HILARIOUS and is always there to help improve. READ. DO YOUR WORK. There is no fluffing anything in this class, but boy it has rewarded me so much in the end. Amazing professor!
