made an overview course of geography for elementary teachers way too complicated
this class was easy. shes a nice lady will go out of her way to help you. if you follow the course pack you'll do fine, save your self the money and don't buy the actual book you'll do fine without it
Very good instructor and a great person !
Brains, beauty... Oh yeah, and she teaches well to!
Outstanding teacher, plus she really is kinda cute. Her 110 class is excellent too and I intend on taking another this fall.
She's a hottie, nice to look at =)
Very nice and helpful. Very thorough and she's pretty too. Highly recommended!

Didn't ever use book, but still got an "A," coursepack was very helpful, and free!
She is so nice, smart, and has a great smile. When she looks you in the eye, it feels good.
Takes what could be a dry subject and makes it interesting. Great professor w/great stories! Free coursepack! If you have to take Geo 110, take it with her!
Mrs. victors saturday afternoon course is a breeze. She gives you a free course pack so no book is needed. Sit there, follow along and get a A, I did . Plus she's a excellent lecturer.I only fell asleep once, hungover. :-)
Great teacher, and very interesting
Very intelligent and well travelled. She knows the subject very well and does a good job of teaching it to underclassmen.
very good teacher. As long as you pay attention to course pack you are bound to do good.
While she is hot to look at, she is a female dog with her attitude.
DONT BUY THE $100 BOOK FOR THIS CLASS!!! All you need is the free course pack she gives you to get an A. She is an awsome teacher and is a ****.
TOTAL WITCH I would NEVER take her for another class as long as I am at EMU
i was in that class. the person missed an exam because he over slept.................... the rest of us were there on time and took the exam. when she wouldn't let him take the exam, i almost cheered! I think they say, "if you snooze, you lose&quo
This lecturer teaches 8 classes per semester. She has no office hours (understandable since she is busy teaching all the time.) If you want to see her you have to make an appointment.
the person who wrote the last comment doesn't know what they are talking about. I have her syllabus and she has office hours on mwf 8-9,11-1 and more. i asked her after class if i could see my test and it wasn't her office hours but she said sure! she goes out of her way for her students. great!
Her class is boring. She is repetitive. But it is also easy. I attended about 1/4 of her classes, maybe even less, and pulled A's and B's on her test. This proves that her lectures & the textbook is useless since everything on the test, verbatim, is clearly spelled out for you in the course pack.
Dont buy the textbook. Although teacher gives you everything you need, the tests dont give you that impression. Interesting class, teacher is great BUT your entire semester grade is off of THREE 50 question tests. There are not opportunity for any extra points:(
Very nice professor! She puts in the extra effort to keep you interested and makes sure you get what she is saying before moving on. Tests are kind of hard but if you attend class and get her lecture notes, you will do fine. Grade is based off of 5 test grades only, so you have to do well!
She is the best teacher ever! Really great class. Your grade is based off of three 50 point exams, but they are very easy if you show up everyday and follow the course pack. Kelly Victor knows her geography very well. I would definitely take another class with her.
Aweful. I will never take another class from this teacher as long as I am a student and EMU.
Geography of Russia and Neighboring States is a really fun class. She has travelled all extensively. Has valuable insight. Funny stories. Current events. Required reading- In Siberia, very good. Powerpoints. The textbook is not necessary. Study before the tests! KNOW YOUR MAPS! Valuable class.
Accused my group of cheating, docked points without looking into our classes.
class is all notes and lecture, she goes on political tangents with a test as easy to understand as the tax code. my advice take this class from a more qualified educated teacher. You can get community college edu at a community college where she belongs
told my class evolution is law not theory. Completely wrong. Told us to shut up when she was corrected. Let this teach be canned best thing for EMU

What a jerk! I hated her class and her. She was rude and I wanted to kill myself while I was there.
Kelly's Geography 110 class was fairly easy because it was in Traverse during the summer, but I would definitly recommend her.
I want to punch her in the face. Or someone to tackle her in the middle of class, and tell her to shut up and stop talking to us like we're 12 years old. My thoughts: she teaches at a middle school level, has high school notes, gives college tests. Paranoid about cheating. Geog=boring. Geog w/Victor = does wayne brady have to slap a [fill in]?
Online class is very easy, she never has anything due and very little tests. Definately an easy course online!
I think Kelly is a good teacher. She is nice and friendly. She is very interested in the subject and knows it well, especially when it comes to Russia. I would recommend taking the class.
What someone said about middle school - high school - college is right, but she is fun and interested... She does talk down to her classes, even the night classes with all adults... but she is not difficult... If you can simply go to class and listen to her babble on, and study the course pack she gives you, you are guaranteed an A or B...
LOVED HER CLASS! She is very interesting and while she talks to you in a simple way she makes it very easy for everyone to understand. Very passionate about her subject, especially Russia. She is a great teacher and i would take her class again in a heartbeat. Tests are easy if you go to class and pay attention. She is also very helpful.
Victor is an all around great teacher but she does at times seem like she'd be better suited to be a preschool teacher, with her patronizing voice and her spoon fed information. But you came to college to get A's, right? Show up and consider it done.
I've had her for 107 and 110 and I'd take another class with her in a heartbeat. She is very knowledgable and very interested in geography, and she does her best to try to get the class interested. As long as you study the course pack the tests aren't difficult. A very good professor!
Way easy. I never came to class and still got a good grade.
She is the BEST proffesor!! She knows her stuff and she's sooo clear and very easy to understand. You do actually learn in this class and she makes the material as fun as she can! She LOVES RUSSIA lol. I would recommend taking a class of hers ANY DAY!!!
Very bad class. Don't take 110 with Kelly Victor. She is very unclear in her lectures which make the test very difficult. She is too lazy to grade homework, so your grade is based off of 5 test which are very hard. Awful teacher.
she was so hard with testing and was lazy with grading and if she wasn't so hot i wouldn't have even gone to class.
Her enthusiasm is contagious. I love the grading on tests only, it indicates how much you have learned as opposed to allowing points for looking up facts. If you review online module and accomplish your reading, you should have no problem getting an above average score in this class.
For every region of the world that we studied Kelly had personal experiences to offer that illustrated whatever issue we were studying. As long as you make the simple effort to stay alert her stories will suck you in and you'll find you unintentionally learned a hell of a lot. Great Prof and a very classy one at that!
Very effective teacher. I learned alot. Ms. Victor is very enthusuastic when she teaches. Her stories about the regions that she has visited, make the class even more interesting! As long as you attend lecture and pay attention, you will have no trouble passing the 5 tests. I would recommend her as a professor.
Easy class -- just 3 tests -- attendance not mandatory, but it helps -- all powerpoint presentations and pictures -- great intro to tourism
She was one of the worst teacher's i ever had she rude and very lazy.A monkey could teach better then her and she all way's think somebody is cheating.you will learn much in the class.so what ever you dont wast your time or money on. Her class avverage is a C so how good do you think she is then ? she just bad.
Kelly is an AWESOME geography teacher and she makes a very basic and blah boring geography terms class VERY interesting. She gives you your notes typed out already and literally spoon-feeds you EVERYTHING you need to know to get an A. She even has a website with everything you need to know, so really...you don't even need to go to class! Take her!!
amazing teacher! never had better. Know all the outline notes (available online) and you'll do great
her lectures were really well organized and you could print them out which was nice but her tests are super hard! I studied alot for each of the 5 tests and they were still hard. Good lecturer but the tests are ridiculous!
Kelly Victor is very cold and mean. She grades unfair and her tests cover information not covered in class. If you can help it, avoid her!!!!!
Online. Class requires a lot of reading and watching lectures which are a pain in the a$$ on a Mac. Aside from that, most of the test info comes from the lectures and I found the class to be fairly easy. Kelly Victor always does a good job with her online classes.
Online class very hard!! She give 40 minutes for 50 questions, not enough time!!!
BEST PROFESSOR IN GEOGRAPHY! She is very straight forward, organized and friendly. You can't just slack off, but come on...this IS college! Everything is written out for you in the course pack, you just need to fill in some definitions, and she gives you a lot of them anyways. I loved her!
I'll be honest, her syllabus makes her sound like the worst person in the world. Once I met her, however, I realized what a truly sweet professor she is. She is cheery, funny, polite and always keeps my interest. I absolutely love her class, and I would not hesitate to take her again in the future. Tests are straightforward but DO require studying!
I liked the class, she is a bit hard and cold yes, but she is so passionate about what she is teaching it makes it fun to hear. I liked the class, even though it was hard and her tests were pretty difficult.
I've had her for an online class and for a lecture class, and the lecture one is a lot better. She really simplifies things(which might bug some people), but she is very enthusiastic and energetic. Her tests are a bit hard, but if you study, you should pass with a decent grade.
As a teacher she tries to scare you on the first day and make you think the class is extremly hard but in the end the class is actually pretty easy. She gives you the information you need to get an A on the tests, just study her powerpoints and maps and you should be able to get an A. She says you need the book, but i never opened it and got an A
I had her for 110 and Geog. of Russia (her favorite). She's extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the subject matter. The lectures are fun and interesting. She talks to the class like we're all buddies and personally made me feel relaxed and confident in class. I plan to take another with her!
One of the best teachers I have had! She gives good notes and examples to help understand the material. I would take her again!
this class was easy but if you go to class it will make your life alot easier. she is very prepared and has online resourses along with the textbook i didn't open and her lectures that are very easy to follow along with because she has a course book. this is an outline and a super easy guide for tests. she is very passionate about her work!
She has you print out a VERY THICK packet of powerpoints to follow along with hers- makes for a good study guide since you NEVER use the book. You don't have to show up but life's easier if you do. You HAVE TO do well on the exams because they're the only thing you get a grade on and she'll tell you there is absolutely NO EXTRA CREDIT.
The class was really easy. You get all of the powerpoints for the class. As long as you study those you don't really have to go to class. Tests are pretty straight forward. Be prepared to get a lot of crazy Russia stories. She seems kind of cold, but if you go talk to her she is pretty nice. There is no extra credit and tests are your only grades.
Excellent professor. Class was informative and interesting. Some did not attend lecture so that would account for the 50's and 60's on the exams. Lecture connected the course pac to the book and gave a clear picture of the subject. If you do the reading, attend lecture and listen you have no excuse for not getting an A.
She was the best professor i ever had!! i enjoyed going to her lectures, shes very enthusiastic and becuase of her i really started to get an interest in geography..just take good nots i ended up get an A in her class
She was not that bad, but the sound of her voice for some reason sounded like nails on a chalk board. I feel that may have been a big reason why I did poor in this easy class, I learned nothing because it was painful to listen to her lecture, but she was well prepared
I've had her for several classes now and I think she's great. She's always so enthusiastic and excited about whatever she's talking about that day. Her tests are a little tough, but once you're used to her style they're not so bad.
Very enthusiastic about what she teaches, listens to her students and loves conversations. She does go off on tangents every once and a while and tests are multiple choice but are based off readings, course pack, notes, and I don't know what. If you can sit through the lectures you will do well, a good professor teaching an awful class.
Loved her class. She is a great dresser - very funny too. I would rate her as one of the top 5 professors at EMU. Definately advise anyone to take her class!
Wonderful teacher with many personal expereinces she brings to class discussions. Excellent teacher but you need to study the terms she gives in her course pack--for free!
finished the class last night. She is excellent and the class was interesting. will take her classes again.
She's really incredible. She's always energetic and enthusiastic, and this class is truly her strong point; she loves Russia and knows a lot about it, and it comes through in her teaching. For this class you have to know a lot of maps, but if you put the time into studying, you'll be fine.
I took this class online and it was insanely hard! There was no need to get so in depth. You didn't even know how to study because the stuff given online was not what was on her tests! If you want to keep your GPA up, I advise not taking this course!
I took this class online and it was ridiculous. I have a 4.0 GPA and ended up with a B+. These tests are the hardest test in the world, you have to read a ton of info listen to boring lectures and then take a timed test. The class average was a C+ and she was proud of that. That should say enough. Do not take her online, you will go crazy!!!!
Took her for 6 wk spring class, was intense but it was only 6 wks. I understood this was going to be much work and it was but it was interesting. This Prof took the time to record her lectures and that was way cool&also the downloadable powerpoints FREE. About time to have a innovative class that uses technology. Tests covered what Prof said
Like mentioned before if you want to keep a good GPA do NOT take her class. I was also a 4.0 student and ended her class with a B+. There is no structure on what to study. You have to read the entire text book and put it to memory, even then you will not be ready for the exams. I spent hours studying with little results.
She really is a great teacher. I took the class online and she provides lectures for you. This class required a lot of studying and a lot of reading, but if you work hard it pays off. I would only recommend her to the students that are willing to do the work. If you are just looking for an easy A, then you should probably take someone else.
Took online course. Has created a good online experience with video lectures and powerpoints. I would take notes using her key terms while listening. Covers a lot of material. Her tests are not well written and you can get hints from previous questions. Study the maps which will give you easy points.
I didn't get the book, I just went to class and studied all her powerpoints and I got several 100s on her exams. If you want an easy A, this class isn't for you, but if you're not willing to do the work then why are you in college?
Overall she really is a great teacher, but i must say her tests are waay hard. I've managed to do pretty decent on them but only with the help of SI(in group study)It really made a differance. You must put some work into this class if you want a good grade, but hey in the long run it really makes you feel smarter!
Exams are not hard, they are simple, straightforward questions, no punches pulled. Very friendly, but would almost be better as a middle school teacher with the way she talks to us, like we're kids. Class is mandatory b/c what she talks about is what's on the exams (3). She's enjoyable, however.
She knows a lot and you will learn a decent amount if you don't mind being talked to like you're a fifth-grader. She also splits up compound words when she says them ("Let's learn about physio...ography!"), which is weird, but she knows a great deal about geography.
Teacher was absolutely awesome took an online class as long as you read the text book and followed the online lectures that she has posted you will do fine highly recommend to anybody
You don't need the textbook for this class. Everything on the exams are from the powerpoints, meaning you should go to class! The exams are hard! The class was only based on five exams. She knows a lot about the topic, but the course is pretty tough.
Take this class at your own risk. The class is not hard, but confusing at times to what it is that she expects for the exams. I believe she knows a lot about Geography, but the teaching methods are a bit confusing at times.
I had her online class. Overall the class was fine. It is very orginazed and accessiable. The test were hard, did not seem to be from the lectures or the book. Very detailed test. The time limits on the tests are stressful. The content of the information is great.
She does not care if you are having a hard time in her class. She is not willing to help you out. I would advise looking for another professor.
Kelly's online class was very well organized. She even sends out email reminders about the upcoming quizzes. For an online class, it was fairly easy. 3 Exams, 1 Paper. Don't be fooled by the first test, however. It's extremely easy. After that they're rather difficult!
She maybe better in class, but online it is horrible. She has a timer for all of her exams, which is not enough time. I really did not learn much, but I guess this is to be expected for an online class.
She is a good professor. Her tests are very hard and thats the only grade you will get are 5 different tests. I got a c in her class but didn't study as hard as a should of. There are lots of help available and shes good at explaining the subject. I just slacked off and could of easily gotten a B. If you take her class it will be challenging.
She only gives you 3 test and NO extra credit. Her test a really hard. She talks to the class like we are all 5 years old. Don't take her!
shes a very hard teacher, dont take her if you want an easy A, grade is based on 5 tests, dont need a book, lectures get really boring, she is really nice but i dont think i would take her again.
Would constantly get off topic and talk about her adventures around the world. Seemed a little dingy. She was nice and friendly. She would constantly accuse the two girls next to me of talking, when they weren't.
Very enthusiastic prof.!! Loves what she teaches. everything based off of slides and her class. 5 tests, no papers, and no extra credit. if its a morning class, she'll wake u up. there's usually an SI for her class. Go to it. It will help a lot. Her tests are tricky though. don't cram. i usually cram, but it didn't work this time.
TAKE IT! this class is very easy just go and everything in the lecture is on the test! i got a D but i did not study. SHE'S THE BEST TEACHER IN GEOGRAPHY
Professor Victor is very helpful. The material was easy to learn in the online format, and I cannot explain how helpful she was:always responded to e-mails, etc. in a timely fashion. The material was engaging and easy to learn. If you are not willing to do the work you sign up for, drop the class. You are in college and should expect nothing less
Kelly is a sweetheart of a professor. Don't let her syllabus scare you, this woman is here to help you. She is extremely organized and well traveled. Her and Dr. Nazzaro are by far the two best professors in EMU's geography department.
Great Professor very interesting lectures and stories. Pay close attention to the key terms and attend the Si sessions.
I love this woman. So nice, wonderful and a great teacher. Go to class, do the work, and you'll be fine (it's not rocket science to do well in college people) Kelly is amazing and really cares about her students.
Very helpful, interesting, and funny. Her class was a real pleasure to attend. The structure of the class is unforgiving, and her syllabus is intimidating, but she is a great professor and you should have no trouble if you show up for class. She's one of the best professors at EMU!
A very clear and friendly professor, she manages to teach and also toss in a good story about wherever it is she's explaining about, especially Russia. She's been everywhere, so chances are if you have a question about a place in the world she can answer it.
I had this class online and it was one of the best online classes I've ever taken, and i've had over a dozen. More professors should take the time to record lectures for online classes. It really made the class more interesting and easy to understand. Great class.
Super easy class to take online. It can be a bit annoying with the amount of errors she has in her lectures and on her tests.
This class was actually really challenging. The average for every exam was below a C and she did not curve. Maybe it was because it was a summer class and she jammed everything in. There was way too much work for a 100 level class. She was very helpful if you had questions, but was too random in the exams (which are almost your whole grade).
This class for me was stupid easy. she had everything up on power point and you could look at to study from. The exams really aren't that hard and she made this class more interesting then what i thought it was going to be.
Not too difficult. She has a story about everywhere. Her test can be a little scatter-brained, and since they are the majority of your grade, I would recommend going to class because she tends to leave hints in personal stories. Overall, good experience.
Class was ok. Her test weren't that easy. It seemed as if she rarely spoke about half the things on the test. I still received a B out of the class.
KVB is absolutely the BEST professor at EMU. She cares about her student's success as long as the student cares too. I suggest that everyone take at least one (or two) of her classes, whether you're a GEOG Major or not. Love her!
I thought it was easy; too it online. She has powerpoint lectures where she actually talks for you to listen to, which is helpful. I thought it was ridiculously easy though. Take it online because you can have all your notes and the internet to get an A.
Best professor I have had online ever! Took the class for a 6 week summer semester so it was a lot of info quickly. Exam each week and one webliography assign. but she has narrated power points that are so helpful. Very quick with grading and feedback. Highly recommend her! Just be prepared to do lots of work quickly if you do summer class!
The professor does provide you with powerpoint lectures which are helpful but during her lectures there is constant background noise coming from the streets and her many animals. Instead of redoing the short lecture per slide, she just acknowledges it and apologizes on the next slide. Very unprofessional.
She is a really good teacher. I have only had one exam so far, it was the retake and it was easy. The tests are multiple choice though. I heard there harder. If you go to the SI sessions they are so much more helpful than attending class. She cares about the students and she is so intelligent. She uses great examples which make things alot clearer.
I took this class online. Professor very helpful. she provides everything you need to pass the class. she made geography interisting by recording all powerpoint. she use skype to meet w students, I like that. take her she is excellent teacher.
KVB was a fabulous professor. She is a very good professor if you really care about what you're learning. She LOVES sharing her knowledge(she's been EVERYWHERE). I recommend to anyone. The only thing tough is there isn't a lot being graded- five "exams" and webliography. Makes it hard if you're not a good test taker.
Very passionate about Geography. Exams are hard, you have to study for them. Come to class and take notes. Print off the powerpoints that she gives you to write right on them. Go to SI. Not many office hours available. Answers emails promptly. Creates a community in the classroom.
Good instruction and materials. However, be warned, her audio presentations are of the worst audio quality. Between the hacking dog and some serious audio feedback from her voice have your thumb on the volume control. If she remade the presentations this class would be 5/5, however it is distracting and honestly hurts the ears.
She's really nice and helpful. Her class isnt too hard.
Her syllabus is ridiculous to follow and understand. She is so petty about minor things: you have to have your student ID/drivers license on you to take her tests or you fail it. She obviously doesn't read the papers because I put in BS and got an A because my formatting was correct. Reads right from the PowerPoint. AVOID!
One of my favorite professors! Super sweet, fun, and interesting as well. She shows her own pictures from her travels around the world and tells personal stories, making her lessons seem a lot more relevant. I would recommend her to anyone.
Very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. She does her best to keep you engaged the entire lecture even though she knows a good portion of the class are not geography majors. Very pleasant class experience i would recommend to anyone.
Very knowledgable teacher. She has traveled all over the world so she speaks from experience and provides up to date information on what's happening in each part of the world in addition to how it will affect us.
Took this class to fill my credit requirements. She expects everyone in the class to be a geography major and devote all your time to studying for her outrageous tests. Grading is all based on tests that ask very specific information. Tests have a very short time limit. Would avoid if your looking to get through the class with your gpa intact.
Do exactly what she asks, do not write more than she asks for, she will mark you down. Class is based out of the test books, with online lectures which are mostly her just reading right out of the Textbook. To get an A, you will have to work hard.
She don't really teach, but reiterates the textbook back to us. If you don't read and outline, you're screwed. She's nice, but the exams we take cover stuff that we don't even learn about.
KVB is super into what she teaches. Extremely energetic when she teaches and keeps you entertained during a rather boring lecture. All homework is online and super easy, so are the tests. Could treat it like an online class and do perfectly fine, but I would highly recommend going to the lectures.
It is a pretty easy class. You don't really have to go to class to do well. All of the tests are online and if you just read the textbook, you will do fine. You have very few assignments, but they are super easy. Her lectures can be boring, but she is really passionate about what she is teaching.
She is super nice and the class seems like a lot at first but if you remember to take the test which are completely online then you are okay.
The knowledge that KVB possesses is immense and remarkable and that clearly shines through in her lectures. I highly recommend her classes, she will absolutely do anything to make sure a student succeeds as long as they themselves are willing to work for it! Oh and her travel stories leave me daydreaming and feeling fantastic. Excellent prof.
Unhelpful professor. Doesn't care about technical problems. I created duplicate account by mistake and lost 2 exams and definitely didn't care and marked them zero after I told her about my problem. Find another teacher.
I've has the privilege of having Kelly as my professor for the last couple of years in a lot of courses, and she is one of the best! Everything she has you so interested and she is very insightful on what she is talking about. I recommend her to everyone.
Easy class to take. KVB has tons of experience in the field (works at Visitors Bureau of Ypsi/Ann Arbor area currently), supplements the class with tons of outside resources/media, and in general is very passionate about the subject, and especially teaching it. Super friendly/accessible, remembers you. I hugely recommend chatting with her.
Very easy online course. You're graded on quizzes, a roughly 5 question assignment, and that's it. No exams. The quizzes are 20 questions each. There is quite a bit of text to read but I passed with an A not reading it all. Very simple and easy class/prof. She provided lectures and extra reading but I never used either for the class.
I took GEOG 320 online with her because that was the only way it was offered. I was worried about taking an online class... for no reason. Reasonable assignments, clear and frequent communication. Expectations are detailed and laid out perfectly. Timely feedback. I never had to meet with her, but she's there if needed. Recommended.
Super easy A class. I took it just to fulfill 3 remaining credit hours, and I'm glad I did. The LearnSmart Modules took some time to complete, but if you just do them you get 100%. Exams were easy too if you studied the material. KVB is an extremely well-respected professor in my opinion!
Probably the easiest class I've taken at eastern. You just have to take a few quizzes (with questions that are easily googled) and make two discussion posts.
Her expectations are very clear and the answers are readily available if you read the e-book or if you google them, a Quizlet will show up with the answers. The class is very reasonable in terms of the workload as you have a week and half to do two assignments/ chapter. I would highly recommend taking this professor if you need a Geography class.
KVB is okay. She cancels class more than any prof I've ever had but will not alter exams or assignments for material not covered. She is scattered but passionate. It's easy to get a decent grade, the material just doesn't stick past the exam.
Easiest online class I have every taken. Only an assignment and quiz due every week and a half. Also just an introduction discussion post and a final discussion post. Almost every answer for the quizzes can be found online and you have unlimited attempts for the assignment.
