The course just started but 1. SO much content (as anticipated) and content goes very in-depth with every bit and piece of each system 2. She does not explain well and/or does not explain diagrams even though they're all testable. The lecture videos are basically read off the slides and paraphrasing the description.
literally reads straight off the slides, which are packed with info, that she doesn't even care to explain. she just throws random anatomical terms at you confusing everything you studied just to say 'oh but all this goes beyond the scope of this course'. she paraphrases for more time than she spends explaining what's on the screen.
I understanding anatomy is extremely content heavy and a class that's hard to make entertaining, but is it really necessary to memorize every single little crevice of the body? This is just information that we'll all memorize and forget about the second the midterm is over. The lecture videos sound like a script and are so painful to get through
The previous semester prof only had multiple choice test questions while we also have to do short answers, matching, labelling without a word bank, it's ridiculous. There's too many things to memorize for the format to be like this and this professor only reads off lecture slides so it's basically just memorize everything on your own.
Prof Adams has somehow made one of the most interesting courses into an endless drought of misery. She records her lectures online but I think you would have a better time having AI teach it to you, talk about boring. She does not even bother using a pointer to point out the parts in an ANATOMY class. Honestly don't understand how she's hired.
bruh what is this.
seems kind but not sure why she expects SO MUCH. whats the point of assigning endless chapters that regurgitate the same info, just so we can find the VERY few points she didn't include in lectures (which are testable btw)? Not sure why you cant just include them in the slides, other than just wasting our time. 200+ slides a week, and a crazy exam
This prof is absolutely a wreck to ur grade. If you have this prof RUN. Take anatomy another year if you have to and wait for another prof. The exam format is completely unfair. The course content is insane and not comparable to other years who took anatomy 2300. Sometimes she says things that contradict the "required" textbook.
This prof is causing so much drama in the hs gc🙄🙄
Worst prof ive ever had.. she loki appeared out of no where. Wish I took anatomy a different semester to avoid all this extra stress....
This is a response to the person that just left a 5 star review. l just so you know you sound more crayyyyycrayyy than cool. good luck tho sweetie!!!
To anyone who says anatomy is heavy, yes it is. Though it should not be this rigorous, especially considering the SAME COURSE offered last term was quite manageable. Considering this has been doubled down as a first year course, it's too much. A post-grad student in kin was shocked to see the content- that's before I even mentioned the textbook
Most messy and unorganized prof ive ever seen. She just gives a million different diagrams and information without explaining anything.Take the course in another year, this is torture.
to the 5 star rating person- its "you're". pls go study dome more. ps. dr kelsey we know its u
she give 200 pages slides every week without explaining anything properly. If it was not for credit I would have dropped this course.
I hope Dr Adams changed her lecture style. The grading scheme is fairly ok with non test component 45% your grade. Her lecture recording is reading off the slide so I tend to just read the transcript. She intended to do Anatomy ASMR audio only sth after the midterm and I think that was even harder to concentrate.
Impossible class and has ruined anatomy for me. For a class that is often loved by health science students she has made impossible to get a good grade. We have over 500 slides to memorize each with multiple definitions and not to mention the textbook is also testable. She does not teach she just talks and we have fill in the blank with no word bank
Literally an impossible class, midterm consists of week 1 to week 5 content and each week contains 200+ slides to memorize. So if you think about it, that's almost 1000 slides to memorize for the midterm. This would be doable if HS2300 is the only class we have in the term, but we have 4 other classes as well. Her way of teaching is also terrible.
Dont take this course with this prof. This course makes me feel absolutely hopeless.
I think I lost brain cells
girl who hurt u
Expectations beyond a first/second year course, she needs a serious evaluation from the faculty because I don't see anyone getting past a C in this class. Ridiculous when you have four other classes but her classes content takes 10 hours to get through. Don't take this if avoidable.
Honestly, I don't get what the fuss is about. This anatomy course is a total breeze—people are stressing for no reason. The professor makes everything so easy to understand, it's almost like the material does the work for you. Seriously, if you can memorize a few things, you'll be fine—no need to act like it's the hardest thing in the world.
Obviously an anatomy course is going to be tough what else would we expect? But Dr. Adam's is a fantastic professor. Her lectures are short and sweet, and she does a great job of making the material easy to understand. The quizzes and labs are so easy it's basically common sense. Love this prof and I will be taking courses with her in the future!
Learning all this 5 weeks content is taking forever.
There is way too much information that's not explained properly. She forgets that we're not med students who can memorize 1000+ detailed slides for an exam (PLUS READING) on top of all our other courses. Out of all the 10 classes I've had this year, this is by far my worst class, not in terms of my grade but in terms of content and teaching style.
There are two hour-long lecture videos for her to read off the slides. PLUS, small details mentioned in the textbook that are not in the slides ARE ALSO TESTABLE! I absolutely love anatomy, but this professor completely ruined it for me. Don't take the course with this prof unless she changes her teaching style and amount of content.
My brain is rotting
there are 2 slide decks per week and each slide deck has at least 120 slides the for the midterm the first 5 weeks are the ones that are testable which is inhumanly impossible to memorize everything cause it is memory-based. and cherry on top the readings are testable as well where you will have to learn the tiniest details.
This course was made as if all health science students are robots. If you are gonna teach this much content in a week at least make it in person. The lack of respect this teacher has for her students is ridiculous, I hope she can find a way of teaching that'll benefit students and not make them rethink their life decisions.
As someone who has kept up with course content, this is incredibly demanding. There's far too much content to be testable in addition to 4 other courses. I want to be considerate, but assigning a testable textbook with missed out details we have to search for + no word bank diagrams is ridiculous. Don't understand the logic behind her structure
suddenly orgo chem is looking pretty good
Run away as fast as you can this is very likely the craziest course I have ever taken in my entire life
We know that anatomy is hard, but she manages to make it IMPOSSIBLE. 5 weeks or not, you can't expect students to memorize that many diagrams and charts, not to mentions origins/insertions etc. You'd expect a difficult content course to be compensated through manageable tests, but no. They aren't even allowed to help you in tutorials. No positives.
Wish she'd mentioned the exam format earlier on, I'm sure that would've saved a lot of students the trouble. Doesn't reflect the quiz format (MCQ) or lab assignments (word bank). 2 weeks is a little tight to memorize 100+ diagrams and label from the top of your head.
Mi BOMBACLATTT is dis. I have never realized a prof could give so much work for an exam. There is 1000+ slides with minimum 2-3 things per slide to remember PLUS DIAGRAMS. The other reviews aren't lying and one of the 2 5-star reviews is AI generated. (If you don't believe put it in an ai checker). Good luck to everyone taking the exam.
I think her slide is just too boring. I was very distracted when she went on explaining each muscle doing what and didnt really point out the important stuff. Other than that, she replied fast with emails so I think Dr Kelsey is professional. I put the hardness at 5 cuz I am terrible at memorization ( can't get rid of that for anatomy course ).
i get that anatomy is supposed to be a difficult, although Kelsey is making the course way more difficult than it should be. she is not providing students with ANY extra help. she is not properly teaching her lessons and makes these little textbook points mandatory. don't recommend taking this course if she's the one “teaching” it.
had to skip leg day for ts
Prof doesn't explain anything, simply reads off slides; additionally there are over 1200 slides to memorize for the midterm, not including the textbook material which the prof doesn't even talk about.
this professor genuinely doesn't want her students to succeed. The amount of material assigned for the upcoming midterm is a ridiculous amount to memorize. Without consideration that students most likely have written or have other midterms, and four other courses to manage on top of this. I understand anatomy is very dense, but this is impossible.
I hope that she reconsiders using a textbook if this course is taught again in the future. I understand that anatomy is a heavy course but it is simply not feasible to learn every detail when she assigns multiple textbook chapters a week on top of lectures. If something is important enough to be tested on it should be included in the lecture
there's a difference between hard and impossible. dr adams' exams are absolutely impossible there has to be a better way to teach anatomy she simply just shows us the slides that she reads off of in lecture and expects us to memorize everything
this course is so insane I'm questioning my mental sanity
probably the hardest first year course lol
this course is acc taking years off my life
ur telling me i gotta remember how to spell words like Ischiocavernosus and Bulbospongiosus instead of studying content because u dont wanna provide a word bank ??
If the 2300/1300 course was the problem, then the other profs would have a low ratings as well. Clearly that's not the issue here. Stingy prof when it comes to content. She is kind in emails and replies quick. Don't think this was the right course to have her teach, especially one this large (800+). This class better give me a masters degree atp
Watch the reels bruh, nothing will save you.
i've learned more in 30 second gym bro tiktoks
If you wanted to test our knowledge, provide a word bank. Matching questions are good because it tests if you know a condition/a muscles action/definition. With a word bank, we'd have to similarly understand the terminology to know where it's located. Instead, we dont have time to do so, we just memorize where terms go and how to spell them. sad
good luck, we got this!!! (no we don't, but ignorance is bliss in this course)
I'm sitting here at 6AM on the day of the midterm after pulling an all-nighter studying. I've been doing this all-day-everyday the last week straight, neglecting my other classes. How is it that there are still 400 slides I haven't gone through yet? Hmm… I've got the answer! Because there is 1000 slides of content on the midterm! It's impossible.
I took kin in high school, and the amount of information makes me want to throw up; so many little details that she says "is important" are insane. An insane amount of demand is needed for the upcoming midterm. Not to mention she is switching to audio-only lectures, which will not help.
Ya, she definitely not getting tenure. We are essentially teaching ourselves anatomy because she just reading off slides but it's all good because she sent out an AI-generated poem to calm our nerves the morning of the exam.
Dr. Adams does not teach. She reads off of 200+ google slides every week while staring blankly into the camera. I've found multiple errors in the information on her slides, showing that she has put next to no effort into creating the content for this course. I'd like to see her take this exam considering she doesn't know half of what she's saying.
I have never studied so much for an exam and felt so horrible about it
Don't know what all this previous fuss is about, none of you even took her midterm yet. The midterm was extremely fair, Prof. Adam's was kind enough to make the diagrams extremely simple. Honestly, I felt as though I overstudied. She could definitely be more engaging in her lectures though, but overall a good prof and a nice course.
mixed feelings. fair exam, but aside from that there could be improvements. no use in over studying your students and not specifying how much detail we need to know only to let us off later. extreme stress and overwork via textbook + lectures, maybe make criteria more clear. other than that no one should complain about exam…maybe the no word bank
I also fear yall spoke too soon
She has a lot of lecture content, and her midterm was very fair. Very interesting class!
Worst. Class. Ever. This course was pure torture. The midterm was fair, but nothing else was. 900+ slides, 2+ hour lectures that took 10+ hours, endless readings—all for a prof who couldn't even get her slides right or teach properly. Constant mistakes, zero clarity, and complete mental exhaustion. This wasn't just bad—it was a nightmare.
Like others said, her midterm exam was fair. However, this does not diminish her teaching abilities. I found in her most recent lecture (on the CNS) was by-far the best, as she talked less from the slides and more from her knowledge. However, the rest of her lectures were still word-for-word read off the slides. Hope to continue seeing the new her!
I can understand and appreciate anatomy classes are difficult, as they are very content heavy. The course overall is sub-par, the organization on the other hand is absolutely awful. Waiting hours for bonus tutorials, moving midterms that affects people who booked flights, starting the midterm 20-30 minutes late etc. Don't take if not needed.
Terrible organization and teaching style. The 50+ awful reviews on this website clearly show that this is a widely shared opinion about her class. She should not be teaching this course. Western, please find someone else to teach it—I fear almost anyone would be better.
course is content heavy as expected. not her fault. just wish the lectures flowed more and helped us connect the dots. very fair tests. textbook is a must have!
If you would just get up an' teach ‘em instead of handing ‘em a frigging packet, yo. There's kids in here that don't learn like that. They need to learn face to face. You want kids to come in your class, you want ‘em to get excited for this, you gotta come in here and you gotta make ‘em excited.
10 day grade return but it's been a month since the midterm and no official grade has been released yet?
What's the point of having 2+ hours of recorded lectures weekly when all she does is read off the slides. I get anatomy is a challenging class and many of us are aware of that, we are willing to put extra effort in for a subject like this. The issue however, is the prof. Please do yourself a favour and don't take this class if not mandatory.
This course drains like all your energy. The lectures are so useless; use online tools & do your own teaching for better recall. Know the diagrams extremely well because she doesn't provide a word bank and it's easy to forget those little details when there's a lot of information. The labs are very helpful.
highways this, highways that. everything is "like a highway".
The amount of information on the final is crazy, it is almost like you are being set up for failure. I had to dedicate 60+ hours to studying for the midterm to do well and now we are expected to know almost double the amount of information for the final. It is IMPOSSIBLE to be able to grasp and remember all the information we are expected to know.
don't take this course if u don't need to. anatomy is supposed to be a challenging class but in no way is the content taught in this class anywhere near acceptable especially for first years. its unfair, western please do better
WOW this is the most content heavy course i have ever taken. i understand anatomy is hard but this is another level. we are not robots!!!!!
fml, this makes life feel like a dark cloud if raining on my head all the time
these reviews are not dramatic lol do not take this course. anatomy is hard so u have to be willing to challenge yourself but none of the other anatomy profs have this much negative feedback. im sure shes a great person but this course was so so bad.
This professor needs to change the way this course is taught, or how the exams are structured. This is awful, the worst exam prep I've ever had. It's impossible to memorize everything. I don't understand how anyone thinks this is ok.
This course was awful, not because of the actual content, but because of the prof and how it was taught. Completely unreasonable expectations! It simply cannot be justified the amount of slides and information expected to be FULLY memorized for an exam. It's impossible. Not to mention she doesn't even teach, just reads off slides! Just horrible.
im in so much pain.
dont just dont trust me
no words. horrible class.
I know anatomy is supposed to be a challenging class but this class was not interactive; lecture slides are the worst to learn from uninteractive boring lectures. Open book labs are graded way too hard for the resources we are given The format of this class is unacceptable, especially for first year Format & amount of content is guaranteed failure.
it's an easy and fun class when you don't leave everything til last minute. took this as an elective & found dr adams to be great! she teaches good for an online class, responds to my emails immediately, is funny during lectures, gives us mnemonics, etc. don't blame her bc u thought 3 days before the exam was a good time to start studying lmao...
Run as fast and as far away as you possibly can and never look back. Craziest course I have ever taken in my life and somehow managed to make an enjoyable course horrid.
Professor Adams seems like a genuinely nice person. However, I would not recommend anyone take this course unless it's required. We are given hundreds of slides every week with extreme detail and are expected to know it all for exams. Of course anatomy is hard, but the way this course is structured makes it feel very unattainable and discouraging.
The course load is well too much. Took it as an elective and regretted it.
Way too content-heavy for a first-year class. Don't take the course unless it's mandatory.
How can anyone with a teaching background think that it's okay to lay this much content on students and expect them to know anything for an exam? That was the worst exam ever written, and nothing was related. The learning outcomes are so different from the lectures, and everything felt like a waste of time.
Anatomy is an extremely content heavy course that you have to stay on top off every week to be able to do good in. I thought Dr. Adams did the best with what she had and you can't even deny that her exams are incredibly straightforward. You just need to be able to put in work that this class requires.
far too many diagrams to memorize. A lot of material wasn't in exams, wish she was more clear on what to omit from deep diving. 50+ conditions and not a single one on the exam. Barely any questions from content from some weeks, rip kidney. girl said 15 mark matching + 15 mark diagram and gave us 30 mark diagrams.
Prof seems nice but the amount of content we were expected to know was insane. Hundreds of slides each week that went into so much detail, meaning over 1200 slides for the final. I understand anatomy is a difficult class but the amount of content we needed to know made studying discouraging. Would not recommend unless you have to take this class
Prof. Adams lectures have little to nothing to do with the final exam. She literally used those exact questions on the textbook's official textbank and barely touched on those concepts in the actual lecture. She is supportive if you asked for accomodation she will respond very quickly. Take those extremely negative cmt as a grain of salt.
Anatomy is an extremely difficult course. Before you freak yourself out from seeing all these bad reviews just know it's possible to do well in this course. Dr. Adams is not a bad professor, the material is just challenging. She's very kind and uplifting. The people complaining didn't prepare themselves for the tests or study well. Like be foreal.
Extremely fair midterm. However the final was a slap in the face. Wish she focused on high-yield content, rather than the knitty gritty. You either knew it or you didn't. Aside from the course delivery + content, she is a promising prof.
Don't try for med/dental school if you genuinely found a first year anatomy course as bad as these reviews make it seem. lmao
I think there were obvious flaws in how the course was delivered (plus the fact that there was a textbook on top of the lectures), but the midterm/final were mostly fair and 90+ is definitely possible. If you're taking this course try to consistently memorize the content throughout the semester as opposed to right before the exam
Anatomy is naturally challenging, and you can do well if you keep up. However, Dr. Adams' course delivery had major flaws. She provided over 1,000 slides, leaving many students overwhelmed. Exams are specific, with no guidance on what to focus on, and labelling sections have no word bank, despite over 100 diagrams to memorize.
This class was definitely difficult but it is possible to do well. You cannot expect to study very minimally and get a good grade. ALOT of effort must be put in. The layout of this course is stressful with tons of slides that go very into detail and hundreds of diagrams to memorize. Most people do not have enough time for this with other classes.
The course is very challenging, would not recommend taking the course with Prof Adams, better off taking it in the summer with a different prof, the way she teaches isnt rly teaching and there needs to be significant improvements, I put it A LOT of work but it still didnt feel enough, had to drop 1 of my electives bc of the course. stay away.
Anatomy is obviously very content heavy, you cannot fall behind or start studying less than 2 weeks before and expect to get an A that being said Adams made it increasingly difficult as her slides were all over the place and level of detail varied so we felt loss in regards to what would be asked. just actually study the textbook and outside things
Midterm was very fair, final was kinda all over the place. listen to the reviews that say to study, adams is new and just needs to learn how to teach. teach yourself and youre fine. do not take as an elective lol
Extreme amount of content but thats obvious given it's anatomy, her lecture slides could use work but the tests are not unfair/overly challenging. It is annoying to study all 200 blood vessels or muscles just for there to be 2 questions about it on the exam, but the "testable" textbook didn't really show up on exam. Take in lighter semester.
Final exam average was 56%.... should say enough
This course is brutally difficult and WAY TOO overwhelming. Over 4,500 Anki cards, 1,000+ slides, 300+ diagrams, plus a required textbook. The exams have short answers, MC, and labelling with NO word bank, despite 100+ diagrams. The prof is not engaging or clear, and even TAs struggle to help. Be ready for extreme stress, would not recommend.
Professor Adams is amazing! i was a bit nervous to take this course as ive heard it is fairly difficult but genuinely her exams were very fair, you need to put in the work for the exams to get a good grade. Her exams are not application-based, very much so memorization, and the course is very straight forward.
Kelsey seems like a good person, but she's not an effective professor. Her lectures are 2 hours a week, but note-taking takes 10 hours. Don't bother with the textbook. Exams are fair, but there's not enough time to memorize everything, so focus on key concepts like main nerves/structures. Quizzes and labs help boost your grade to 90+.
A lot of content but fair exams
People who complain about this prof are people who went into the course not understanding than university level anatomy isn't supposed to be basic. The tutorials and quizzes boost your grade massively, and if you keep up with the lecture content you'll be fine as the exam questions are very fair. If you put in the work, you'll do very well.
lectures are so boring pls dont take this class if u dont need to
Her exams are pretty fair, everything's from the lecture. Labs and quizzes are easy marks. It's easy to fall behind in this course, so be sure to stay on top of the lecture content, do it every week don't push it to the next week otherwise it'll just pile up and you'll regret not doing things earlier.
Content was heavy and very detailed, however, as expected it is a university level anatomy class. Lots of information to absorb so extremely important to stay on top. Although there was a lot of information to know, the exams were not trick and she told us what was going to be on it. Stay on top of slides and you'll be fine. STUDY HARD!
