Wow! This professor managed to bring together 39 students from over 7 countries to understand how to effectivly communicate cross-culturally. This class was awesome. The class was at 8am and I could not wait each day to go and find out what Professor Tyler had planned. I learned more in this class than any other class I have ever had.

Easy class. You really don't need to come any time except for your presentation date if you do all the papers. She is a very nice teacher but doesn't take the effort to get to know all the students (she didn't know most people's names)also don't expect to learn too much more than you did in the abnormal section of general psych.

overall GREAT class. She claims that she 100% goes by her syllabus, but that is completely false. I took Kelsey Tyler's Abnormal Psych a year ago and she was fantastic= my favorite course syllabus that I have had. She had an assignment list she handed out at the start of the quarter and you can pick from the optional assignments and 2 from the required ones on which to do projects/assignments/tests. I got a 4.0 but hardly used the $150 book.

Hard to get extra credits from her, read the first instruction on your introduction board will help to earn 1 credit easily. Need to read the DSM 5 carefully. Prepared to your case study, mostly case study, not so tough. I get full credit for small assignments even I submit it late, bigger one need to submit on time or will be deducted half.

When I saw the assignment to view a longitudinal study of Australian children that were filmed at ages 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 I thought this was going to be boring. I WAS SO WRONG! I needed this class for a Master's Program and I learned more in professor T's class than any class I have ever taken. Foundations of Freud, Jung, Horney, Adler were expected but her curriculum is the most BIPOC friendly theories course ever. I love that the last third of instruction was about LIVING theorists instead of a bunch of old white men.

No quizzes, no midterm and no final exam on the syllabus so I was skeptical BUT I learned so much more without the pressure of exams and I LOVED the teaching style. Weekly discussions in canvas and an online textbook with weekly assignments that were required but they were interactive and it was great to read what my classmates were thinking.

The teacher herself is very brusque, don't expect a "hello" or anything more than a yes or no. Class itself is pretty easy. Weekly discussions, a couple documentaries, textbook assignments every week, clinical project of a PowerPoint presentation. Not a single person got below 100% on the project, so I don't know if she even looks at them. Easy A.

Now I understand why this course is required to apply to a MA psychology program. The best part is her course is inclusive of BIPOC psychologists as well! Amazing teacher!

Professor Tyler is one of the best professors I've ever had. She is funny, intelligent and cares a lot about her students. However, she won't just hand you a 4.0, you do have to work for it but that is why I respect her. Her course design is very interesting and includes case studies and clinical assessments.

Hard to get ahold of outside of class.Extremely messy organization of canvas. She changes assignments so quickly by the time you put all your hard work into it she will just randomly cancel or change the due date. Also beware she is unafraid of assigning and overworking you with presentations every single week.

Very hands off. No email greeting or syllabus/class orientation email. Assignments were posted sporadically and it was unclear if there would be exams (there weren't). You should be self-directed if you take this class. I enjoyed the documentaries and videos, but prefer a prof who provides first-hand instruction.

You will learn in this class. We watched a series called Life the majority of the quarter & had to write a reading response to each episode. She's an easy grader & her classes are enjoyable. It may be boring if you don't enjoy note taking & watching long videos. No finals & mid terms. Assignments are VERY easy & the readings are sorta long.

There's sooo much homework and if that wasn't enough the points given for the assignments is not even worth it. She'll give like 11 paragraphs for only 5 points. and plus the assignments are unorganized, we have to do some in canvas some in another website, it's just too much. The only good thing is that there's no exams and there are no meetings.
