Best professor I've had this semester, you can succeed in this class if you do her assignments and study fair amount.
The best professor I've taken this semester. She made math fun to do. Her Brazilian accent is sometimes a bit tricky to understand, but her jokes gets rid of boredom. I'd definitely take her again.
I'll admit it took me a while to adjust to her style of teaching, but once I did, I loved her. This was my favorite class my first semester of college. If you have questions, her office hours help. I also used the math lab and weekly tutoring sessions later in the semester as the class got more difficult.
i really loved her style of teaching. she is very organized, neat and explains well. she is also very accessible and makes a lot of jokes. as long as you keep up with the course work the exams are very straightforward.
She is one of my favorite math professors. She has a great teaching style, is very accessible outside of class, and will do her best to help you. Also, she uploads her notes from the lecture online so you can access them outside of class.
She posts her own hand-written notes at the end of each week which are pretty helpful. Make sure you stay up to date with what you're learning so you'll be ready for the test. She's very willing to meet you outside of class and even accommodate you when you miss a lecture. It's just the material that's difficult.
This professor cured my phobia of math. She is incredibly helpful, down to earth, and very approachable. I would take every class with her if I could.
I absolutely love this professor. While she does make mistakes in her notes, she is not afraid to say she was wrong and correct herself. If you cannot meet during office hours she will work with your schedule to make sure you get help. Attendance was taken everyday, but was not a grade. I highly recommend going to every lecture.
Wonderful professor very helpful, but the math department drowns you in homework that is not related to the test, and they only give you an hour and fifteen minutes to answer about 12 questions on an exam, That's not the professor's fault but this is a hard class made much harder than it should be by the department. I would rate a 7 for difficulty!
She made integral calculus fun and interesting. Her care for the subject and the students is unparalleled.
Kemelli is by far the greatest professor I have ever had. She makes the course interesting and has a good sense of humor. Believe me when I say she made me enjoy Calculus somehow. If you see her name when registering for a class just choose her and go.
I actually have sat in one lectures from the other math teachers and they put me to sleep. Ms. Hiroms is really engaging and funny (although at times does say questionable things, but she's kinda self aware). She goes through everything in great detail (honestly surprises me when my friends from other teachers don't know as much). Best teacher
Dr. Estacio- Hiroms has a great sense of humor, it makes an 8:30 math class more enjoyable. Her lectures are great , easy to understand, and very informative. She also posts her notes online which is super helpful. By far the best math professor I have had.
really funny, does not skip steps, explains things thoroughly. posts all her notes online. offices hours are not so great, besides that, she is a lovely prof.
Professor Estacio-Hiroms is a good professor, but the class difficulty isn't set by her, its set by the math department, and it's pretty hard. If you have to take the class at UTD instead of a community college, take it with her. She's pretty funny, and she doesn't move on to another example without asking if everyone understands. Slight accent.
funny and one of the best math teachers i've ever had if not one of the best teachers period
I'm sorry but I have no idea how she gets so many 5's. She is all over the place during lecture. She talks about her husband, family, or love half the time. I'm not sure if this is her first time teaching stat, but the PowerPoints are not very good and leave me more confused than before. This isn't supposed to be a hard class but it is with her.
She is a good teacher. Definitely recommend for anyone taking MATH1236 with her
Dr. Estacio-Hiroms is a great person. I do not believe that she is cut out to teach STAT 2332, however. For the first part of the class, she was able to teach the material very well since she was confident in it. However, as the semester went on, we realize how limited her understanding of statistics really is.
She may be a good calc professor but she definitely is not a good stat professor. She is very disorganized and has no idea what is happening and what material she is teaching over. The tests and quizzes are nothing like her powerpoints. Her notes do nothing more than confusing the hell out of students. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND HER FOR STAT AT ALL.
Not a great stat professor from my experience. Tests have nothing to do with her lectures. Tests and quizzes are somewhat similar to homework and review but that itself will not help in the tests to be very honest. Hard to score a good grade no matter how hard you try. Disorganized and makes lots of mistakes. One of worst stat profs out there.
Makes even intro stat harder beyond imagination. Lecture nothing like the tests and grading criteria is ridiculous. no extra credits.
Worst Stat professor. Hard test and no extra credit whatsoever. Get ready to score crazy low if you planning to take her. No hard work will pay you off.
This class was chaos. I do not recommend it whatsoever. A statistics class should never cause one so much stress, but taking it with this professor did, because she is not a stat professor! She is a calc professor, she cannot simply teach statistics because she knows calc. Her exams were poorly written and the notes for the class were not helpful.
Only grades in the class is from quiz and test. Attendance is just 5% and I can say that will not do any good when you actually failing the class. Gradees by horrible 8 question quizzes and even worse 25 ques tests. No one can score good except some I don't know stat freaks. Worst prof ever.
Sweet person worst professor. Don't take her for STAT.
Very nice professor, however, she did not do a good job explaining the information very well. As a result, the class felt way harder than it needed to be. Understanding the concepts is key to get an A in the class, the homework and reviews (although optional) help but you have to understand the powerpoints too.
I HIGHLY recommend anyone to not take her for this class. She's an extremely nice lady but a horrible teacher. I usually do not struggle with math at all but this class was one of the most difficult & confusing math classes I've taken. Her notes are extremely confusing and the lectures are worse tbh this class shouldn't have been as hard as it was
I do not recommend her for STAT class. I can see that she has good calculus rating so I believe she is a good calculus professor. But for STAT I should say she was disappointing. Makes the class harder than it should be and takes more than it should be to score good. I don't recommend her for STAT.
She makes statistics confusing and crazy. Makes it extremely difficult to score in tricky worded tests and quizzes. Horrible considered with a typical intro class. High chances of failing or scoring really had even for math people.
Extremely tricky worded tests and quizzes. There are no other means to score in the class other than from these confusing quizzes and tests. Disorganized and no extra credits.
Took Cal 1 with her my first semester. Aside from being incredibly brilliant, she is an amazing calc professor. Her lectures were heavy with material but she did a great job of chunking it and giving little breaks. Loved hearing about her time in Brazil. If you get the chance to take her for calc, do it.
Prof. Hiroms might be a good calculus professor but she is not a good stat professor. Do not take her. She is the only option for the fall 2019 semester for the STAT 2332 at UTD but if there is an option to take other professors in the coming semesters take it instead. This professor will make your life miserable I'm warning.
Do not take this professor for stat please. The class is very difficult for an intro level class.
Graded by very few things. Tests are hard. Class is disorganized.
If its your first time taking stats, yes this class can be challenging. However, the professor does want her students to succeed. I think she was a great professor. Yes things can get a little disorganized in terms of quiz content but it is hard to teach four classes at once. She does her best to make a challenging subject more understandable.
teacher was good
Teacher gives bonus points on tests to help improve your grade.
I thoroughly loved this class because Dr. Hiroms made the lectures funny with her occasional story-telling. Since I took stats in high school, I personally found the class to be an easier version since we never had to check for any conditions nor write FRQs. If you're new to stats, yes this could be challenging but certainly doable bc extra credit.
Dr. Estacio-Hiroms is a really nice and amusing professor. Lectures were never dull. Information is learned at a rather quick pace, so you'll probably need to set aside some time to revise notes. Grades are based on 5 quizzes and 3 tests, so watch out. Attend lecture! There's up to 2 points on the final grade if you have good attendance. Good prof.
Dr. Kemelli is one of the most sincere and dedicated professor at UTD. She has very organized lectures and even posts her written notes. Even though attendance counts, she also makes the class very entertaining and her tests are fair. Her old ratings are most likely from students that rarely attended class. Don't avoid taking her stats she's great!
She has been the most chill professor I have ever had. Pretty straight forward on grading and what will be on the exam. Highly recommend doing the homework she assigns. If you go to lecture and do the hws, there is no reason to not make an A.
Her first group of stat students was a couple of semesters ago and I can assure you that she was the most disorganized professor ever. Her tests were hard, lectures didn't make any sense and likewise. From the newer reviews, I see that she has improved. I am happy that she responded to her student's complaints and resolved the mistakes.
The professor really cares about her students. She isn't the best at lecturing, and I think sometimes she struggles to explain concepts, but the exams are easy. The pop quizzes are for attendance up to a certain number of points. Afterward, pop quizzes become extra credit points. You need to buy a turning point subscription for the pop quizzes.
She sometimes makes lectures confusing. She's very nice, but I mostly zoned out in class. Yale's website has some awesome free stat lessons/material. The tests are conceptual so I never had to do practice problems, just be sure you know what different variables/equations mean and are used for, and their limitations. I suggest self-teaching.
She is a great professor and hilarious. The other reviews don't do her justice. I highly recommend her for STAT2332.
She's a very caring and funny professor and her lectures are easy to understand. As long as you do the homework and exam reviews before the tests, its an easy A, plus she gives out a lot of extra credit with the pop quizzes.
She is a math prof taking stats and has no idea how to do the job. Getting A is easy just read her slides as they tell you how to do the problems and apply. Same stuff on quizzes and exams, one of each dropped, multiple choice. She spends most time joking but her slides enough to get an A no need to understand lecture. 5% attendance.
I really enjoyed taking her class, she is very funny and easy to understand. Studying the slides and doing the practice problems/reviews she provides is sufficient to get an A on the exams and quizzes. She also gives a lot of extra credit from easy pop quizzes. 10/10 would recommend!
She's a great professor and really cares for her students. Lots of extra credit and she drops the lowest exam and quiz. Just pay attention in class and you will be good to go. She's also very funny and makes this subject bearable. Don't believe the other reviews, she's definitely worth taking.
One of the easiest classes I've ever taken. Dr. EH is super sweet and funny and offers tons of extra credit. Drops a quiz and an exam at the end of the semester. Pay attention in class and do the HW/exam reviews and you'll be golden. I don't know why she has any bad reviews because I really enjoyed her class!
She's such a lovely professor. She is one of the few rare teachers who are actual mentors working for their students, not against them. I loved her class and she somehow manages to make boring topics fun to learn and easy.
Understanding and caring professor! Straight forward tests+quizzes. no mandatory HW but HW questions are often repeated on the tests and quizzes so do those. Make sure to show up for attendance bc thats 5% of ur grade. I was scared to take her class bc of the bad reviews but its a really easy class (coming from some1 TERRIBLE @math).
She's nice&an okay lecturer but the class is pretty easy. Theres extra credit questions on each of the 4 exams & the pop quizzes count for attendance but if you get them right you also get extra credit. She doesn't go in too much depth about the statistical concepts so it is mostly basic math. A lot of the test questions are from the hw & quizzes!
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! She was super understanding during this pandemic and made sure this class was as understandable as possible. Her lectures were straight to the point, and she has plenty of examples to help. There are optional homework and a few quizzes. Her exams are easy and doable. Do well on the quizzes and do the hw, you'll pass.
Great prof overall. Daily assignments weren't hard, and the hw questions were similar to those on the quizzes and exams. If you ever have a question, you can email her and she'll respond. Only fault was that there were typos on lecture notes and hw keys. Took AP Stats before, so didn't have to study as much. Would def recommend her as a prof.
Great professor. She loves teaching and is always very understanding. She is also really good at explaining the material. I would recommend taking her for this course.
She has made life so easy for her students. Statcrunch is a legit gamechanger and allows students to do much better. I loved this class and how she refers to herself in third person. I truly think that if you go over her lectures once and then do the HW, you will be successful. She is a more than fair teacher
Dr. EH was the sweetest professor! We used statcrunch for the whole semester which made things a lot more easier and straightforward. Way easier than AP Stats in high school as well! I recommend Dr. EH if you're going to take this course, it will make your courseload a lot easier!
lectures were so clear, though I did usually speed them up (recorded) because they were a little slow. She taught like she was teaching children - which is a good thing btw. she taught how to do the math by hand or statcrunch, which made it a lot easier. Almost weekly quizzes required work but helped stay on track for tests. so sweet! best prof!
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! She is super enthusiastic and cares so much about her students. She really prepares you for the quizzes and exam which are not hard at all. Her office hours are so helpful and she has opportunities for extra credit. Go through the homework (which is ungraded) and watch the lectures carefully and you'll do great in this class!
The class was really good, she provides homework's (not for a grade) to help prep for quizzes and reviews to help prep for tests, and provides many opportunities on both quizzes and tests to earn bonus points. I initially started out with a B+ but was able to turn it into an A+ with just a little more effort. Statcrunch is very useful.
Definitely take this professor!! She's a wonderful professor and you can tell that she truly wants her students to succeed. She provides so many materials to prepare you for the exams and quizzes. She also gives many opportunities for EC, which is super helpful.
super sweet professor! you need to get used to the way she words her questions, they can be confusing. homework, reviews, and office hours are VERY helpful. clearly explains the process to solve questions and what she expects. we used statcrunch, made things a lot easier!
the best stats prof ever!! Not only is she super caring and hilarious, but she is also very knowledgeable and teaches well. She understands her students and wants them to succeed and even added little bonus points here and there to help us out. Does lots of practice problems and is worth taking even if her class is at 8:30!
Great class! Professor Kemelli EH is so sweet, funny, and has great energy, especially in the 8:30 AM class. She gives out lots of extra credits in the quizzes, exams, and homework. Weekly quizzes at the testing center. Lowest quiz and exam gets dropped. Definitely take her! Easy to get an amazing grade
She's really sweet and cares for her students. The material is not difficult and she teaches it fairly well. Her quizzes are easy but you might find yourself in a time crunch. However, her tests are easy and you are given a good slot of time to finish.
Dr. Estacio-Hiroms was definitely the best professor I have had. She is very enthusiastic about teaching. Weekly quizzes at testing center and four tests but they aren't bad and she give many opportunities for extra credit. Will give points back on assignments if majority people get a question wrong. She is very helpful in office hours!
If you pay attention in class and do all supplemental HW/OHW you will be fine. She gives tons of extra credits so save them up for exams.
Tbh I took stats in high school and at another university and the classes were nothing like hers. She's a very sweet person but the way she explained and taught stats completely confused me. I even emailed her and the TA for some advice on how to understand better. No response. In one class, she even mentioned how half of the class was failing
She doesn't know half the time where she needs to be in lecture. And she does not care if shes keeping you late and you need to be in another class. Horrible horrible professor avoid....
I took this class in the spring of 2021(online). She was a great professor and class was well organized and thought out. She provided lecture slides with blanks that we could fill in in-class along with her and did questions together which helped boost my understanding. She provided reviews for the easy exams and was available for help. 10/10
Such a sweet and caring prof. Just do the work and reading and you'll be fine. This is the class that if u blow it off, it might hurt cuz the work piles up. Just stay on top of it nad you'll be fine. Dr. EH is awesome! Schedule ahead for the testing center BTW!!!
Despite her light accent, Dr.Estacio is very good at explaining concepts and teaching. This class is not super easy. You have to study the lectures, do the optional supplemental homework and restudy your quizzes and online homework. Basically put it the work, and you should be fine. Make sure to attend lecture and go to office hours if you need it
I loved her class! The homework and the practice exams are almost the same as the actual exams. The lecture might be confusing in the beginning, but if you do the homework, it will all make sense. You also do not need to be good in math to do well in this class.
Dr.Hiroms is one of the best professors I've taken at UTD. Her lectures are amazing and she breaks down concepts to make them easy to understand. She gives out quizzes and online hw weekly in order to help us prepare for the exams. The exams are easy if you read the slides, do the supplemental hw, and the final review. Show up to class for a A.
she is a good professor, however the format for her exams changed, the quizzes, exam reviews, and supplemental hw are nothing like her exams now, completely different. Even though attendance isn't mandatory i highly recommend you go, her teaching can be kind of confusing at times though.
Dr. EH is an amazing teacher! She breaks everything down well in her lectures, goes through many helpful examples, and prepares you well not only for the exams but for the future as well. Attend her lectures, do all the work she recommends, and you will be fine. You'll get whatever effort you put in. She's also funny which makes lecture fun.
I LOVE Dr. EH! Her class was very easy, and she's an incredible professor. She explains everything in a way that's very easy to understand and her exams, HW, and quizzes are all very easy. She makes statistics super fun and I always looked forward to her class. Plus, she's super hot ;)
The best!! She is accessible outside of class and wants her students to do well.
Don't even question taking her - just do it!!!!!!!! Make sure to do the work and assignments on time, and you are all set because tests are easy as long as you do the homework and test reviews in terms of questions and study the slides for conceptual questions.
This professor is the best professor I've had the privilege of being taught by. She is, all in all, 10/10. Anyway, to speak about what you're here for. Exams are super easy as long as you study the lecture notes and do your assignments!!! Attendance is mandatory, but trust me, after your first class, you'll always want to go! Easy A for sure. Enjoy
If you will take stats, take it with Dr. Kemelli. She is so kindhearted and hilarious. I love going to her lectures even though they were early. 4 exams all at the testing center. Do the test review and read the slides to do well. Weekly open note quizzes and HW. Attend classes to get extra credit. Her lectures make her slides more clear.
Engaging, really wants students to go to class. Does not upload notes from class, lecture videos, examples or anything, b/c she wants you to go to class. Go to class! Talks about how hot her husband is, is pretty funny. She says attendance won't penalize you but it actually does the way she does her extra cred. Not an EASY A but not difficult.
This class is not very hard, however, the way Dr Eh taught it was not for me, i attended all the lectures and i think she overcomplicates concepts and thats what leaves me very confused in class, i always have to find youtube videos that simplify those concepts. I would not take her again for stats, She is a very nice and lovely person though
Very good professor. The course I took is not too heavy on rules of certain statistical tests, but Dr. EH was a very good professor for what the course entailed.
She made an 8:30 AM course very engaging and worth waking up for. She is hilarious and very open with her students, but at the same time she was great at teaching the course and getting concepts across. She provides many supplemental resources, such as HW, reviews, and practice exams. Attendance is extra credit, but highly recommend going!
You may not truly learn the material, but easiest A of my life. Definitely recommend.
dr EH is super funny & she gives lots of advice during class about our futures.i didn't mesh with her teaching style,i felt like she'd lecture rather than teach, which made it hard to keep up once the material got harder & calculation-heavy.there's a lot of info to absorb & the tests arent easy but if u put in a decent amt of effort u should be good
This class is not hard at ALL. I never went to class and still bagged an A. Just read over the slides to grasp conceptual stuff, redo all the OHW and quizzes, do all of the extra practice she posts, and then take the exam reviews if you want to do well. Not hard at all if you put the time to study efficiently.
Great professor, course is pretty easy and not like usual math classes. You do need to attend class, as notes have problems without answers which she fills only in class. Otherwise, you will do great!!
Maybe it's just me, but I had a hard time following her lectures and understanding what she was teaching. I got confused most of the time, and it definitely did not help on exams. I'm probably just bad at stats, but this class is not as easy as it seems. FYI, Quizzes are in-person now, but not the worst.
BEST STAT professor ever!! She's funny and kind and always gives her stories about her personal life at the beginning of class. She only fills in lecture slides during class, so make sure to go to class regularly, she does take attendance every day. Use her lectures, do the homeworks and test reviews and you'll do great.
The class is easy in the 1st half, and really difficult in the 2nd. However, the prof is really good at explaining during lecture. You get mandatory and bonus points for attendance, so it's 100% worth going. Overall, even though I struggled in the class, the prof is really kind and works with you to make sure you succeed. Also, it's 3332, not 2332
