Test were challenging but easy if you did the homework assignments. Highly recommended but take Revere in you can.

Wonderful Teacher to have wish he could take the following DSCI course. Talks a lil too much about his two PhD's (yes 2 !!!!!)

Definitely knew his stuff! Made class fun even when the work became more difficult.

Be diligent about the homework, listen carefully to the lectures and you will be okay. Dr. White has a great sense of humor and is approachable.

Dr. Black is the BEST PROFESSOR that I've ever had UHCL. Dr. Black sets the "standard" of how all professors should teach. He truly cares about his students. He has a very funny sense of humor, he makes his class laugh and enjoy the time they are having to learn Statistics.

GREAT teacher. I put this off 'till last, but it wasn't that bad at all. Dr. Black is AWESOME! Doesn't matter when you take the class because tired or not, he'll make it interesting. He's funny and has a great sense of humer. Study, do the assignments and you can make an "A" on the tests.

Very good professor test are little hard alot of definitions which you wouldn't expect from a stat class. He is a funny guy and will keep you entertained.

I took Stat from Mr. Black over 10 years ago and he was the best teacher I found at UHCL. Years later I've returned to school and he is still the best. He is smart and engaging and will make Stat/DSCI much easier than you'd think. The material in his book is also presented very well and simply. If only UHCL had more Ken Blacks (seriously).

Great teacher. The subject was hard but he teaches it great. He's very entertaining in class. He actually made a hard math class fun. I would highly recommend him to everyone.

Teacher is very helpful, self explainatory, and funny. Do all the homework problems before the test that is how I made a A in the class. His notes help out to. This teacher is great for math people all others do the homework.

Incredible Professor. Nothing but good things to say about having had the priviledge of being in his Summer I class. He goes over TI-83 and other calculator functions and helps out whenever you ask. I got a B in this class. Highly recommended professor.

Great professor, must do all of your homework for test. Make sure you're prepared for the multiple choice questions on exam as well as working the problems. I concentrated on working the problems instead of the multiple choice and it hurt my test grade. Didn't do good on first two tests, but did e-grade problems, computer assigment-made a B.

Awesome teacher. Very animated and makes learning easy. He wrote the book, so he only teaches important topics. 2 test and final. Test are 80% multiple choice. Easy e-grade quizzes that allow multiple attemps and 3 easy Excel assignments.

Great instructor, with great stories. Ralates learning to real life. But, expect to pay $$$$$ for the course (he authored he book): $135 book, $50 wileyplus, $100 TI84 -- if you want the A! Focused on his books nd profits as well as teaching you everything he can to help you understand the material.

Hard subject but he dose makes it easier. Only uses chapters that business people need. The book is a must and a good Cal TI-84.

I had this teacher for statistics. Basically, hes the best teacher at UHCL. Easily the most memorable. He isnt a condescending idiot like many professors. He makes you feel comfortable and somehow makes statistics fun! God needs to put more people like him on Earth.

Definitely requires book and WileyPlus registration code. I bought book online and code separate and saved about $60. Very trendy and entertaining older gentleman. Easy to approach and very clear. Homework and quizes are exactly like tests. Gives 3 computer assignments in Excel but explains exactly how to do them. Loved this class!!

I really enjoyed Dr. Black's class. Very entertaining and helpful. Initially, I did not want to take stats, but he made it interesting. Would recommend him over any other professor. Only homework assignments is online, and they are easy. He goes over what the exam will consist of!

Black is the most interesting proffessor I have ever had. Never before have I understood the application of statististic like I do now. The man is hilarious. Even if you don't like statistics, you will more than likely enjoy his humor. Not easy, but definitely not impossible. As long as you practice the assigned problems you should be alright.

Statistics is a very hard subject but Dr Black teaches it very well. If you take plenty of notes and work the problems, the test shouldnt be too bad.

HE is the MAN! Take this class only from him! Attendance is mandatory, but you wouldn't want to miss class anyway because he is so interesting to listen to and learn from. Run, don't walk, to register for his class.

Excellent Professor! Subject matter is hard as H***! No one could make easier. He is hilarious! Don't miss any classes and do not forget on-line quizes. Also has a few Excell homework problems. Only suggestion is that he has more tests so that we would not have 5 or 6 chapters on a test. Great human being. He will help you if you are trying.

Best professor at UHCL. This was my most dreaded class of the MBA program, and ended up being one of the most enjoyable. Lots of work, but fair. Attend class, do the problems and you should be fine. Tells you what to review for the exams.

Dr. Black is the best professor I've had. He is funny and extremely charasmatic. He makes sure the students understand the material and makes it as easy as he can. I did not want to take thise class but I have enjoyed it because of him.

He is funny and makes statistics interesting. Not only that, he really cares about students. He even tries to remember all students' name. Even ones never speak out in the class! I have never met such caring professor. I learned a lot from him. Not only statistics but also how you should act in front of people. Best prof ever!

This teacher is great, but his tests are hard. Nice guy, you will learn a great deal, but he will slam you with homework. Take him during a spring or fall semester, but not during a summer semester...and you'll be fine! just do your homework and know the formula's up and down!

He wrote the book. He is entertaining (sort of like Jim Carey). He has real world experience. He is kind. One day he came to class with red hair! But the material is difficult and the exams are VERY hard. I was lucky to pass

This is a great teacher. If I could have him for every class I'd sign up...at least it would be an enjoyable B. Doesn't take himself too seriously. 3 tests, 3 computer assignments, WileyPlus quizzes (easy), not a cummulative final. Has lots of reference material on website.

Very organized and structured class. Clear class notes. Uses lots of practical examples so it makes it interesting. Very funny although its dry humor. Do every homework problem he gives and you should be fine on the exams. Mid-term and final (not cumulative), online quizzes (open book, not timed), and computer assignments.

The best professor I have had at this point in my college career. I am appalled by the 3.2 overall ease rating Dr. Black has received. This class is such a piece of cake. The only thing someone could complain about is he gets off topic every now and then, but for a three hour class, it helps to keep you awake.

Dr. Black is a breath of fresh air! By far the best professor I've had through my college career. He is not rated high because he's an easy teacher he is rated high because he is a quality professor. Attendance is a must for his quality and entertaining lectures. If you attend class and complete the homework you will do fine in this course.

Very thorough teacher. Gives practical examples. Brags on himself a lot, but just tune that part out. Tests are exactly like the homework problems. I was afraid of this class, but I studied a reasonable amount of time and made an A. He gives lots of opportunities to make an A. Even the dumbest students in class made C's!

Dr. Black is a great professor. I disliked math very much and still do. But he made the class easy with his helpful teaching and in depth explanation. His class was not boring at all. Structure was take notes off board. Then do hw which he doesn't check. Then some take home assignments that are super easy. Test are like hw problems. Got an A+

Dr. Black made what could have been boring subject quite interesting. He has a great sense of humor and makes you laugh. Take notes and do the homework problems. He gives easy computer homework assignments and tells you what he plans to put on the test. If you study what he tells you to study, you'll do very well.

Dr.Black is by far one of the best professors I've had in college. He knows a lot about the subject and explains the material very thoroughly. I made an A in the course by just practicing some of the homework problems he assigned in class and I made A's on the exams. Great professor and makes you laugh a lot too.

The instructor is okay. This is a very difficult course. If you have knowledge of statistics it will be a great course, but if statistics is not your favorite subject the material will become a semester long nightmare. There are online quizzes and computer assignments in addition to the exams. Do not miss lecture because attendance is also graded.

Three test Three comp assignment and quizes. First test is easy then it gets harder, go to class. Do homework given and learn text he assigns for mc on tests.

On the first day of class when I realized Dr. Black wrote the book, I was nervous, but turned out there was no need. Attend class every time (graded on attendance), do wiley plus (which should be practice for test anyway) and make sure to take notes. He goes over in class everything that will be on the test. Problems on tests are straight forward.

I really enjoyed this class & Dr. Black. He made the subject fun & interesting. He takes time to answer any questions you might have and gives real life examples to make the topics easier to understand. Great class!

Awesome professor! Black knows statistics backwards and forwards (literally) & definitely knows how to teach it. Attending every class is highly recommended although you can learn the material on your own. Comp. assignments are easy A's (just try your best & turn it in. Quizzes are online, untimed & open book. Expect to be there the full 3 hours.

took him this semester, he is one of the best prof in uhcl.he is the author of the book we use.he is clear. wileyplus is required not very helpful but its ok.3 computer assgn that are super easy.3 exams.1iley plus have 9% of final grade.he use the whole 3 hrs dont expect to go home early. highly recommended

Dr. Black is a great professor. You do have to actually SHOW UP, but if you do the homework problems the tests are easy. He will also work any homework problems you don't understand. Very helpful and keeps the class interesting.

I am currently in Dr. Black's class and at the beginning I was very apprehensive about taking this class. I absolutely love Dr. Black. Very thorough and will teach you how to do the problem in the TI calculators. Attendance is a must but he keeps the class entertained so it is not boring. Wish I could take him for DSCI 3331.

I am currently in Dr. Black's class and he is so entertaining, so energetic, engaging, and he explains things very well.I have to study hard and practice the content but I love coming to class.I absolutely love Dr. Black. I took this class during summer 1 2014. Its fast paced, req lots of time to study bc the material is difficult. Dr. Black will break it down so that you understand. Do ALL of the assign homework prob in book &Wiley. I am poor at Math and made a B+in a 4 week class. He tells you what to study so follow his lead and study only what he recommends.

Dr. Black expects and encourages students to work very hard in this class. His textbook and lectures consistently present the course material in a lively, practical and informative manner. The online text offers learning tools. He commands the respect of each of his students and welcomes enthusiastic participation. Definitely worth taking.

He's a great professor. It is a must to attend all the lectures and note down everything he says. Classes are never short, he takes 3 hour lectures. There are 3 computer assignments that are very easy and straightforward. The two exams are tough though. The Wileyplus quizzes are a cakewalk as compared to what comes on the test.

He is honestly a GREAT professor! The class is just difficult, and you have to work for it. You cannot skip class or you WILL be lost the next class. Dr. Black presents a subject matter that can be difficult very clearly. Attending his lectures are essential to passing the class. Every lecture covers a wide variety of topics. However, Dr. Black presents the material in a clear manner that captures your attention. I entered the class despising math and left with an appreciation for Stat.

Difficult subject for me, but Dr. Black was energetic, witty, knowledgeable, and did all he could do to reach those of us who aren't math majors. While I hope I don't have to (grades aren't posted yet) - I would absolutely take him again!

Statistics itself is not an easy subject, but because he wrote the book, his practice questions are what you see on your quizzes and comp assignments. If you can work the problems that he has on the online assignments, you will do well on the test. He also stays after class to help you know how to work the problems in excel and in the calculator.

Ken Black is the best professor I have ever taken hands down. Statistics is tough but if you attend class, pay attention, do the homework, and asks questions you'll do great! His lectures are entertaining and really wants his students to succeed. Plus he really knows his info, he wrote the book used for the class!!

The best professor. Makes class interesting and tells many jokes and stories. Three easy computer assignments, three exams relatively easy based on his lectures, and online hw. Show up and do all the problems from the book and you'll get A.

DR. Black is an excellent teacher. He knows the material like the back of his hand and it shows in his teaching skills. I wouldn't skip class, because any questions you would have are always answered in class. He's very humorous and likes to tell stories. If you need help he will be there to assist you. Stat isn't my forte. Dr. Black made it easier for me. I was borderline passing the entire semester, but he told me to keep at the course and not drop. I took his advice and got the grade I needed in the end. He cares about his students. Oh, and buy a physical copy of the book, it makes things easier.

One of the best teachers at UHCL. The course work is not easy but if you apply yourself you will pass. Does not believe in "actual" reviews for exams, but gives possible topics to expects. Very forgiving grading scale, and extremely helpful if you need it. Course completed Spring 2016.

Took this class in Fall 2016. Stick with him through the end. He really cares about his students and gives plenty of opportunities to bring grades up. There are 2 exams- he provides topics for them. MC is a little harder-read the chapters. FR portion is similar to HW questions/book examples. Easy, but tedious excel assignments. Overall, easy A!

Old guy loves to tell stories and incorporate it into the lecture. about 3 online excel assignment that he gives clear instructions for go to class take notes and study for tests you'll do well would take again

He is a really good professor. He is funny and makes the class enjoyable. 3 Excel homework which are really easy to do. He gives you the steps to complete them. Around 8 to 9 homework that he post on Wiley Plus website. 3 Exams not accumulative. He curves each exams and gives extra credit if he sees that the class needs it. Must take him.

I took Professor Black for Statistics. He is really great. He wrote the book so he's able to answer clarification questions. Go to class and do the homework and you will succeed.

I was so nervous to take this class over the summer but Dr. Black does an amazing job at breaking down the concepts that it was actually pretty easy. Do the practice problems and the homework assignments they are the key to being successful in the class.

The only time I had to use my book was to practice the hw probs that were not required. His lectures are so clear that I didnt need to read any of the chapters on my own to understand the material. He is a great professor. I definitely recommend him!

Stats was a tough subject, but Dr. Black made the class enjoyable to come each week. He's a great professor and you can tell he's really passionate about the subject. He does tell a lot of jokes in class which are pretty funny. There is tutoring offered for statistics which is very helpfully. I recommend going. Overall great professor and lectures.

Great professor! Especially for a challenging course like stats. Lectures are long but they go by really quick with his entertaining commentary. Computer assignments help your overall grade, tests are challenging but he gives partial credit. If you talk to him he works with you, very understanding professor. He was a professor that I could tell genuinely cared about teaching the material the best he could so that the students could understand it. He just wants them to succeed and would add personal anecdotes to lessen the blow to those who performed poorly on an exam. I left his class with more knowledge than just about statistics. Take him!

Prof Black is so funny!! If you take Stat you HAVE to take it with him. Best prof at UHCL. I was a Math major for a while so I didnt think the concepts were hard at all and it felt very slow paced. He does a short review of the last class at the beginning of every lecture. Hes a fantastic teacher.

He was one of my favorite professors. He inspired me and taught me so much about life in such little time. I respect his gift and his also very funny.

Everything he writes in the board during the lecture is what's on his test. Hate using Wiley Plus. He try to keep students engaged by cracking jokes & telling stories. 3 tests, 3 computer assignments, 8 WP assignments, and attendance. If you don't understand something ASK QUESTIONS, he will break it down for you!

I feel like I learned a lot and managed to retain lots of information. He did a good job explaining how concepts relate to real-life situations. Hes a great professor, but he can be all over the place and hard to follow at times. Much like a squirrel.

Not often do you get to experience a teacher this insightful, caring and knowledgeable. Many people think that because he is so helpful, you won't have to work hard to pass his test but make sure to study. He likes to make sure you're really listening to during the lectures. Dr. Black is the best professor I've had at UHCL. I really wish I had taken this Stat course before any other course I took - it really filled in some gaps regarding data analysis in so many classes that I'd taken before, whether it was Biology, Sociology, Finance, or Economics. He really is able to make statistics accessible and understandable.

By far best prof at UHCL. Teaches to the level of the class as a whole, so creates and evaluates tests based on the students in the class. Quick grader. Homework adequate, but gives extra problems to work if needed. The guy is able to relate the material to his class, engages his class, and is funny without being condescending. Cares about students

Mr. Ken Black is the most considerate professor I ever had. He want student to participate in class. He share inspirational stories. What he write in the board is what you get in the exams. He teach his student with a heart. My Grade is B, and I am proud of it! (the test is easy but I have anxiety during exams, I forget and nervous)

He is extremely passionate about he course material. It translates into well explaine material. He makes witty and random comments throught the lecture and it helps the class not seem as long. Attendance is mandatory! With a topic such as stats its a given. I would definitely take him again!

Dr. Black is an amazing professor. He really cares about his students and will go out of his way to help you if you are struggling. Plus, he's funny so his lectures are interesting. I had him for business stats and quantitative methods. If you do the homework, the tests are easy. Homework is assigned but isn't a grade. Wish I could take him again!

Professor Ken balck is Amazing there is no way you will fail this class if you just folow his guidelines and show up in class, passionate and funny, literally the best. his approach of teaching is easy, clear and knowlegeable, i never knew i could love stat until i took his class. you won't regret.

He is a good teacher, he does give a lot of homework but if you don't understand then he will explain it the next day. I would take him again!

He is a very nice professor & knows his material. Only thing is I suck at decisions science. Hes a good professor. I was just a bad learner I do recommend others to take him. Get the e-book online. Do the online homework. Three exams & 1-2 excel assignments. Super easy and nice. I was just a bad student because I couldnt see without my glasses.

Dr. Black is an amazing professor in summary. He curved every one of his exams and makes sure you are given a fair chance to succeed. Personally, I am terrible at math, and he went out of his way to accommodate me and my needs. If you are a business major, Dr. Black is the best choice.

Ideal professor. Very funny and has great stories. His lectures flew by so fast. The only gripe I have with him is that he said at the beginning of the semester he'd slightly curve final grades. He never did, at least not to my knowledge.

I loved Dr. Black's class. I took it online during the summer. I expected the class to be fast paced but it was a very manageable pace. We used Wiley plus for homework and exams. There were two excel projects that were insanely easy. He gave handouts for each chapter, he suggested NOT buying the book and just focus on the handouts.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Black. He is hilarious, engaging, caring, and the best professor I've ever had hands down. I was nervous going into stats but he simplifies complicated concepts so well and makes it easy to understand. He is the sweetest man ever and so precious. I felt like he was my own grandpa by the end of the term.

I took 2 of his classes DSCI 3321 & DSCI 3331. I made an A- in the 1st class & B+ in the 2nd. By far the best professor I have ever met. His exams concentrate more on concepts than math. You have a project in both of his classes. They are not hard, but can be time consuming. No extra credit, but not needed if you study. Responds to emails quickly.

Took Dr. Black for both DSCI 3321 and DSCI 3331. His lectures can be confusing, so pay attention. Gets off topic often, but if you you ask questions and pay attention... the course is not bad at all. No homework, but he recommends textbook problems. Work these and you will be fine. Grades are curved based on class averages. Dr. Black is great!

there is 3 exams, 2 online assignments, and a few quizzes (can be taken twice). He is an amazing, caring professor. He truly cares for his students and views us as actual humans. Its difficult to learn in class because he gets distracted and side tracks to other topics. But his grading is lenient.

Dr. Black is an exceptional professor. Our grades consisted of 6 quizzes (15%), 2 computer assignments (10%), attendance (6%) and 3 tests (69%). To do well on tests, pay attention in class, take good notes, be sure to understand the topics on his study guides and solve the nongraded problems he recommends. It helps that he curves test grades.

Professor Black is one of the best professors ive had. He keeps the subject interesting while also being really informing. His side stories always kept me focus when I would start zoning out. Make sure you do the wiley plus homework and quizzes because it helps with the tests A LOT! He also curves the tests which helps a lot.

He's an overall great professor! He gets sidetracked a lot but it makes the class funny and when your taking a 3 hour night class you need a reason not to snooze off. He details all his problems out, and even tells you how many questions are going to be multiple choice and from which chapters and the questions you will need to work out on paper.

Professor Black was one of the more enjoyable professors I've had. The material can get overwhelming but he'll keep you laughing. If you do his recommended problems you'll be alright. Don't be absent in this class- attendance is graded and you'll get behind quickly. Exams are the heaviest grades but he doesn't make reviews or hold review sessions.

His classes are funny and he is animated when he talks. He goes over everything well, but if you skip class you will fail. His test are like the online quizzes and the examples he goes over in class. The HW assignments are not too bad. The main point is to go to class and you'll be fine. It also helps to get an advanced calculator.

Please take this professor! He makes you want to come to class every time just to hear his stories and experience how good of a professor he is. He seriously cares about his students and makes each of us feel seen throughout the whole semester. The class itself is not difficult especially if you have taken a stats class before.

I absolutely loved this class - it quickly became my favorite! His teaching style made learning not only fun but also incredibly memorable. I genuinely looked forward to attending each session and am hopeful for the opportunity to take another class with the same instructor. Highly recommended!

Definitely take Dr. Black if you can! He is really kind and wants you to do your best. His lectures are long but he makes them worthwhile! Tests are mostly multiple choice with a problem solving portion but he gives partial points as long as you show your work. You can take this class even if you don't have an aptitude for math.
