He understands the topic very well and gets excited. Sometimes he gets off on stories but most of the time stays on track. Also gives a great study guide.

One of a kind, honestly he is. Beware of his office, you'll get lost in there, trust me on that one. Overall a fairly good professor and he's one of the few that isn't a Bush supporter. (go him and Mitchell) :D know his study guides and you should be okay for the most part.

Easy teacher, plus an awesome Democrat. Know his study guides well, and use the CD that comes with the book too.

Awesome teacher. The lectures were interesting. I didn't study for the first test and did well studied for second didn't do as well so quit studying and made a good grade. Read the textbook though.

The good thing about the class is that he gives plenty of opportunities to make a good grade, and extra credit. Study the book for the test because 80% of questions are from the chapters assigned. He is very helpful, but can get off topic easily. I did not know some of the lecture questions because of this, but overall I enjoy his class.

He's a very fun teacher. He is a liberal, but does not push his views onto the class. This quizzes are open note and very easy. The test are easy too as long as you pay attention to the lecture and read the chapters in the book.

He's a pretty cool dude i might say, and makes class fun. Although at times it does seem that he goes off topic a little too much, but at th end its okay because he makes you laugh. If you are looking for a teacher that gives you a review sheet, extra credit, and have a good time in class then this is the dude you want to take.

I had this professor for American Government. He does get off topic and he is very liberal with an opinion that he shares, however, so did others, even the conservatives and he never criticized them for their political views, poked fun in a joking manner but never criticized. Read the chapters do the study guide and you should do well.

You really don't what's coming from Dr.Ellinger. Keeps you awake/entertained throughout the class. If you listen closly and take plenty of notes/read the textbook you'll do great.Excellent Teacher and greatly recommend.

Hes a very interesting guy, unfortunately a lot of his tests have stuff that arnt in the lectures or book, so unless you already have a knowledge of the class you cant expect much more than a B, hes also a hard core democrat, so if your not dont mention polotics

Ken is an incredible teacher! Although I am not a big fan of Political science, he still manages to make it interesting and always keeps you entertained. I highly recommend choosing him when you take POLS 1101!

his lectures pertain to class topic, but he gets so stuck on one topic that all the info isnt covered, so be ready for independant work and reading. You always exactly what is on his test and his lectures and class atmosphere are intriguing and fun, as well as open. I recommend him definately

keeps you awake during class time. will adjust test grades so the average is a C. gives a lot of extra credit. will curve grade a lot if needed. very opinionated, and liberal (which isnt a bad thing for me). gets off topic a lot in class though. we had to cover 3 chapters in 2 classes. given the opportunity, i would def. have him again

THis guy is the bomb! If you read the book his tests are easy and he gives a TON of extra credit. My only complaint is that he occasionally swears in class which I think is unprofessional; but overall he's awesome.

I really enjoyed his class!I thought it was different .During the class he didn't talk much ab the chapters but more ab current events and discussed ab a lot of interesting topics.Most of the learning is on your own ,but he gives you many opportunities to do well. Extra credit,bonus question, study guide(take good and detailed notes on then,hint)

I really liked this class. He told lots of stories and gave examples that came from his own life. Tests are not hard if you read the book. The online quizzes are EXTREMELY helpful as well in addition to the movie reviews. The study guides are a must as well to make a good grade. I actually miss this class!

He has been my favorite professor at Dalton State so far. His class isn't hard at all and he makes it extremely interesting. He is very laid back; he doesn't care to tell students his opinion. he is blunt, but hilarious. If you need this class you better take Ellinger!

He is a wonderful man. He tells it like it is with good and bad. He really opened my eyes from different points of views about the government and the way they operate.He makes learning easy but the key is to attend class and take notes or take part in class discussions. Even though he is Democratic, I rarely felt personally offended by anything he said. I felt like he really tried to be unbiased. This class is very knowledgable! His class is lecture style the whole time with some videos thrown in. If you GO TO THE BOOK WEBSITE and do the flashcards and quizzes for the chapters you will most definitely pass without reading the book! Overall, I WOULD recommend him. He's nice, too.

I loved this class. I had no interest In Politics beforehand, but he made it my favorite subject.. He does not use class time inefficiently, you just need to read between the lines a little bit and study what is on his self made review sheets. I highly recommend this to anyone.

Good teacher. Always willing to help with any questions you have, and gives you a study guide for the test. Intimidating at first, but you have plenty of extra credit to help you if you ever need it, too!

Ellinger is a hardcore democrat and he makes it known the first day of class. He is very funny, but he can go on and on ranting. He goes over the exact test the day before by asking questions to the class. Easy A.

He usually rambles during class off-topic, but he does give us extra credit and participation work. He gives a study guide before the test and they are really helpful.

He does go way off topic during class, and never uses the book during class. He gives you a study guide that is basically what is on the test, but the study guide will take you at least an entire day to look up all of the answers. He gives extra credit for each test that is easy to do. He really wants people to do good in his class.

He's a good teacher and definitely cares about what he's doing. If you're looking for an easy class, then don't take this one. The tests are rough but I did gain an appreciation for his class. Plus he does encourage people to go to visitor talks and I've seen a lot of amazing people as a result of that.

I am in the middle of the semester and so far really enjoying his teaching style. He cares a lot about educating students on current events, which can sometimes take away from time spent talking about course material. I feel like I am learning a lot, but to pass the tests I have to do a lot of outside reading from the book.

Attending (and paying attention to) lectures is needed to pass, but they're passionate and entertaining. There is clear and consistent communication through emails. These emails include pretty much a sum of everything you need to know to past the test. Plus easy extra credit! Pretty much if you care then you'll pass.

Over all was a pretty good guy. The lectures are long and continues until class is over and a few times longer than that. He tells many personal stories but they do relate to the book if you read along. GO TO THE OUT OF CLASS REVIEW SESSIONS! Gives free answers and I learned the most during them.

Not the best lecturing, BUT he makes up for it and then some by providing you with his own notes that he types up for you. if you study these exact notes he gives, it's impossible to not make a B or A in his class. Ellinger is the best American Government teacher at Dalton State!!! The only thing negative about him is the fact that you can only take him for American Government but I would take another class of his even if it were not required. He wanders off topic a lot during lecturing but that makes him more personable with funny stories or modern issues.

He's funny, passionate, and the best professor you could take for a subject as boring as American Government. His liberalism is evident, so you conservatives may want to find a different professor.

He is a very good professor. He goes off on tangents, but most are related to the lecture in some way. He offers extra credit papers about political movies for each test. The textbook is online. If the class has good attendance he adds points to the tests! I loved his class! I definitely recommend taking him! It even better in the summer.

Great professor! his class is basically all lecture no homework or anything of the sort. He does an amazing job of teaching you the subject. if you pay attention in class and take notes, that's an easy B. if you go to one of his test reviews there's no excuse to not get an A.

Tests are kind of hard but he gives a lot of answers to the tests in class. Hates Trump and is very openly liberal and goes off on tangents often when he could be going over test material.

pt 1-best prof I've had so far. never done well in a history class until now. very liberal and will let you know. my class he had very much to say about trump, but im liberal so it worked for me. wouldnt expect him to do this again since the election is no longer relevant. he made my least fav subject interesting, but there is a good bit of work.

This professor is great! I liked this class. I've never liked government classes before or sense having this professor. If he doesn't teach something on the exam, and a lot of students miss that question he will make sure that students are treated fairly. He is very liberal but he's not a bad professor at all!

Really fun professor! You absolutely MUST pay attention in class and do the readings, but it's not all that difficult. He gives plenty of study sessions before each quiz to make sure each student gets every opportunity to make an A. The work you put in certainly translates to the grade you get.
