For the morons who put his ratings under the science teacher, they earned A's. They couldn't even name the right teacher and they got an A. Enough said. (Yeah, you learn financial accounting very well too.)
He's a cool teacher, very funny. You don't really need to read the book. He gives solutions to the hw. The pretests are very similar to the real test. He gives out answers to the quiz (just ask him for it ^_~)..
one of the easiest prof's you'll ever have. he gives extra credit each week which is a simple trivia question. gives solutions to everything. pre-tests are almost similar to real tests. sometimes on quizzes he'll have it as a class quiz where everyone gets a perfect score!
This class is EASY. His exams are exactly like the practice exams. Quizzes are open book and he sometimes gives the whole class a perfect score on it. You can get EC through his weekly triva questions. Extremely possible to pass class without buying the book for those who are low on funds.
if you think the class is unclear, only because the material is hard sometimes. BUT he is the best teacher out of all subjects i've ever had. he makes sure everyone pass the class. 3 exams and 1 final. all 3 exams have practice test and the real test is exactly the same. TAKE HIM!!U won't regret!!
he tries his best to make the class easy. he wants everyone to pass - (unless u think u'll pass the class by doing nothing, then this is not the teacher for u) but if at least try a little bit. U should pass. He is honestly the best teacher for BUS 20 & BUS 21. HE teaches the material VERY WELL also
One of the best professors in SJSU.
i thought he was really hard. i had a hard time reading the chapters (really long). most of the test q's and quizzes are on the slides that he puts on his website. i would not recommend this teacher.
By far one of the best professors. He helps his students as much as he can. He explains the problems clearly and goes over it several times. The quizzes are easy and half the time he helps you with it.
this class can be easy if you go to class, he goes over every thing he wants you to know for quizes and tests. I had a hard time understanding the concepts though, but i didnt go all the time. does group quizes 1/2 the time and has open nots/book on quizes but not tests
hard class. i went over quizzes/lectures still nothing got through my head. dont think this is an easy A.
i didn't like this guy. practically our whole class got C's.
I agree with the other posts. I think he may have gotten worse throughout the semesters, because this past semester was not an easy one. Also, his office hours are very "catch me if you can" and the journals that we were expected to write out in the exams were really hard. Iwould NOT recomend this g
He made weird quirky comments in class. He wouldnt cut anyone any slack like on tests. Quizzes were hard so were exams. He knew the final was going to be difficult and yet didnt make it any easier for us. He's also lazy.
hes a boring dude, but so is acounting. so its relevent. i thought he was easy if you did all the practice test. the test were almost identical. its just hard to stay awake with his monotone and the BBC's 100 degree class rooms. its a cool class for naps
he is straight forward. He lectures on what he will test on. His exams are long, you MUST study and if you study his practice exams, it will be easy.
This is one of the best if not the best professor I've ever had. He's straight forward and WILL HELP YOU on quizes and tests. Don't read any other comments that people left, listen to me. If you just go up to him during quizes and tests, he will tell you how to do the problems. No need for book
is the class easy? yes, only because accouting is a hard subject, just like statistic. Is he a hard teacher? NO way!! he is the best professor i've ever come across. Yes, he can be boring, only cuz he's got a monotone voice, yet he knows that himself. BUT amazing teacher. take him and u won't regret
He is great! Just do your part cause he does his!!
Fowler is the most laid back accounting teacher. he gives extra credit and he gives you the whole ten points on quizzes if you show up. accounting is not easy and this isn't an easy class, but if you just do the practice over and over you can get a really good grade. Just do the damn practice tests!
He is a very laid back professor. Gives you the full 10 points for the quizzes, just show up. Do the triva questions, easy 3 points. Study the practices exams perfectly and you will do fine on his tests, they just like the practice exams. He is a monotone voice, but he knows that so he makes funny remarks.
Awesome teacher. Makes some really random and funny remarks during class. Great guy. Possibly best teacher for accounting. Class is not easy, but he's probably the best teacher for it. Free 10 points for showing up to take the quiz and some extra credit opportunities as well. Really laid back.
One of the best teachers in SJSU, he gives out 13 quizzes but only 10 counts and in those 13 quizzes, he gives the ANSWERS to YOU!! Its free points, just show up. Plus everyweek he gives out an extra 3 extra credit points. He also post up practice tests online so his tests are not unexpected, they are almost identical to practice test.
Pretty clear, very easy. The class can be pretty damn confusing at times, but he makes it seem easy somehow. Almost impossible to fail because it's like "free" 130 or so points out of 550 if you just show up to class. Good to make friends in his class to study together, as said earlier the stuff is damn confusing.
This guy is pretty cool for a boring accounting class. His tests aint ****, I mean you are going to have to study. If you actually stay in class when he goes over specific examples in the book they directly apply to the test. Be warned, he throws in some critical thinking to probelms on the test; Hence you need to think outside the box!
i took him for both classes, and both were super easy. He gives you plenty of easy points via tests and extra credit. His tests are easy as well cause he gives you practice test prior that are nearly the same. makes learning the material easy to learn. lecture is a little boring, but thats because of the subject matter. take him for all classe
Class is somewhat challenging but not difficult. You have to work out the problems on the test so you cannot just guess. The practice tests help a lot though. He gives you the answers to the quizzes and has extra credit every week. Class isn't the most exciting but Ken does what he can to spruce it up. Good stuff.
Cool guy, easy class, just put in effort and you will do very well.
gives good examples, guidelines for test and quizes
His curve is through the freebie points that you get through trivia. Otherwise, the final course grade is based on the standard grading scale (90, 80, etc.). Open book and open notes but his tests cover so much material that you need to study ahead of time. His tests literally take the entire 3 hour period. Don't bother buying the study guide.
Pretty good teacher, free points with trivia, I thought this class sucked up until the middle of the class, when I found out I had an A in the class. Make sure you review all material on the practice midterms from the book and notes. He will throw extra information on the tests, so you have to know what your doing. Would recommend
He gives out a study guide for each test but the problems on the test are a little bit different in the way that he gives out extra information. Dont expect the same exact problem to be on the test! study ahead of time and your do fine.Trivia/quizzes is easy points
Fowler is a good teacher. He gives out easy trivia problems and earn easy extra credit. He doesnt curve but he gives out study guide for each exam. I learn a lot from him in this class. It is a good elective class to take for acctg major.
He is a great teacher for accounting. He is very helpful, but you have to ask. "Closed mouths don't get fed" Accounting is very boring, but Fowler makes it fun and easy. Go to class, pay attention, study a bit & you'll do fine. It's not rocket science, it just takes time. If u need help go to his office, he'll sit and explain it to u. It's EASY!
Very Cool Teacher, class may seem to take forever to end but a student has the chance to do well overall by doing the homework and quizes. I know couple people who failed every test in the class but did their homework and quizes with extra credit and grabbed a "c" in the end. If you do bad in tests but try your hardest. Take this class!
The man is hysterically funny. He gives tons of sample questions ahead of time, with all the answers, and you're allowed to use them on the tests. The tests are long, but not hard if you follow the rules.
Individual tax is not an easy subject, and he made it understandable. Exams are MC and open book, so you don't have to memorize. Still have to be prepared since time is limited and you can just search for the answer during exam
His exams are hard. I took a night class and his exams too 3 hours to complete! His lectures are a little monotone and he uses the book's powerpoint. He gives practice problems for the exam and it's still hard to pass his class! However, he is very nice and is always available to help with assignments. I hope 123C is easier!
Professor Fowler lives the stereotype of an accountant(tax). I do not know if he does it on purpose, or what not, but he's a funny guy in a weird way! He is clear and helpful in his lectures, and most people will probably end up with Bs or Cs. You may not like his grading method: he's only Gives A,B,C,D,F no + or -. I got As in both his classes!
This class is great for people who aren't good test takers. There is a quiz every week and you get full credit (10pts) just for being there. These points are added to your score for each midterm. If you get 60/100 on the test but were there for the 3 quizes, this means you get 90/100 for the test grade. Lets you out early everyday. Great professor!
I really like this professor: he is nice, friendly, easy and helpful. He gives alot of extra points (Trivia questions) to help us earn more points. Highly recommend!!!
Great Teacher. Approachable and willing to help!!!! The class isn't easy, but he is happy to help.
one of the best professors ou there. His class is meaningful. Just attend his class and do the assignments and extra credit, you will get at least a C.
HE IS EXCELLENT TEACHER. HE IS WILLING TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS FROM YOU. HE IS HELPFUL. HIS LECTURE IS CLEAR. HIS GRADING IS FAIR.
All around great teacher! Lets you out early and gives tons of extra credit! But its not easy to get in if your trying to add!
best teacher out there. not an easy class, but he is always willing to help. gives out extra points.
Not matter who you take, this is a very hard class! But I would highly recommend fowler. He lets you out early everyday!! sometimes your only there for 1/2 hour. If you miss a few days, it won't hurt you. Stay after class and have him help you w/ your projects. He wants you to, and it will make your assignment much easlier. But as boring lectures!!
Class subject is very hard, not him. SUA and Great Plains assigntmenst are pretty challenge!!! but he is always willing to help you. thats why he finishes the class lecture very early, and stays there to help. review sheets every mid-terms and finals. also very very kind and nice. He accepts late assigntments until final exam weeks.
AIS blows! The SUA Project is a pain in the @$$ and Great Plain is full of bugs. Overall, it is a lousy class. But since accounting majors have to take it, I highly recommend Fowler. He's a very friendly and approachable guy that's always willing to help, even while he is scarfing down his lunch.
Fowler hates teaching this class as much as we hate taking it. I'm sure he's a lot more fun in other courses besides 120A. He cracks subtle jokes that are hilarious and he's always in his office when you need help. Responds very fast to E-mails too :)
Highly recommend! BUS120A sounds extremely hard, but I think overall it is much better than taking the BUS123A. Basically, BUS120A is time consuming and once you figure out how to do it, it is fairly easy. Fowler is an excellent professor. He is friendly and always willing to help. Most importantly, he always gives out the keys of the projects.
This class is difficult regardless of who teaches. His lectures are based on powerpoints. I learned the most from his quizzes. 4 tax problems. He is a very friendly, easy going professor who is always available to help you if you have questions. The subject is dry, but he's funny. His exams are very difficult. Take good notes.
material is tough, but he gives out quizzes which HE works out in class. use them for the tests! he also gives trivia questions which turn out to be extra points and participation points. VERY VERY fair grader, he understands that it takes a while to really understand taxes, so he grades very friendly.
Materials are tough and overwhelming. However, he makes the supposedly dry class into a intersting one. Should not fail the class if you go over the quizzes and notes.
Class is easy. Tests are easy if you pay attention, he tells you what's going to be on every exam so you'll konw how to study. Final isn't cumulative, so less stress. Two very SIMPLE projects and quizzes. He's extremely reasonable. Just talk to him and make sure he knows your name. The class itself isn't hard though, it's basic accounting.
If you're about to take AIS, I don't envy you. Regardless of who you take it with, this class is coma inducingly boring and the reading is mind numbingly dull. But, professor Fowler makes it manageable. Tests are fair (read text). The projects and assignments are all painstakingly monotonous. Fowler grades these assignments hard so start early.
Dr. Fowler is the best professor at SJSU.
Professor Fowler is a real nice helpful guy, however, his exams are excruciating! If you don't study well they might take up to 4 hours to complete! Study quizzes and read the chapters.
He is the best. Very nice and knowlegeable. you will be a tax person while taking his class
123C overall is a challenging class. Tests are extremely hard for open book open note tests, but he gives you enough extra credit and easy points to pull a good grade. 4 semi-easy tax problems. Has a very good sense of humor but he also has his dull moments.
ken fowler is probably the best accounting teacher you can find. the subject itself is boring but at least with fowler, you can expect to pass with some work. projects that alot of time.
Mr. Fowler is a very good teacher. His test are straight-forward and if you study you will pass his class. He's a caring teacher! And I think the most easy accounting teacher by far at SJSU.
Mr. Fowler is helpful, fair, and caring. 120A is do-able. However, the computer software is very problematic. The authors solve their software problem by having you uninstall and start all over. Caution, re-installation may not be successful. And... this project takes more than the estimated 4 hours. Especially, if you uninstall as suggested. GG
Very good teacher. His exams and quizzes are straightforward. The projects, however, are time consuming and they suck. Prof. Fowler is approachable and helpful. He will answer any questions that apply to the projects. One of the best teachers on campus.
Very easy and helpful. If you go to his office hours, he will help you with whatever you need. Attending class is important since he goes over problems you can expect to see on his exam. Exams are long but easy. The multiple choice can be tricky, read carefully. Very easy to get a B, but need to work a little to get an A.
Cool guy. Class is a lot of work, make sure you have all of your general financial accounting skills down because you will be tested on thing that you are already suppose to know.
Cool, Laid Back Professor. Very helpful and very resourceful. Best BUS 120a Professor to take if you want to learn some AIS. Tells you every specific thing on the exams to make studying easy and test taking a breeze. However this class is a HUGE workload.
You want free points this is the Professor you will feed you with a silver spoon. But don't get lazy in this class the Exams are hard if you don't study and just stare at the solutions to the quizzes n HW problems. It is very easy to get 100% on everything but the exams. However scoring in the 60s will get you at mamimum a B
Prof. Fowler taught this class in such a way it was not too difficult. The workload can be tough at times because of the SUA, Peachtree, and etc. but ask him for help! He is really nice about answering questions and making sure students understand what's going on. Look over the answer key before exams and answer the study guide questions.
this class require a lot of reading and study even the exam is open-noted, open-book. Yet the exam questions can be hard if you don't study. But Professor Fowler will tell you what topics mainly focus on. this class you just have to study with book and do problems he recommended you to do inclass. overall, you can pass but hard to get A.
Taxation is not easy so the professor gives extra credit trivias and quizzes aren't graded to be fair. Need to study a lot and read a lot even though it is open book, open notes. Exams are similar from the quizzes and homework. If you want an A, be sure to read everything and pay close attention to detail.
Took winter session. Class is hard b/c it's a lot to learn in 3 weeks. Tests were kinda difficult. He's pretty boring, monotone, and rarely interacts with class. More lecturing than teaching, although if you talk to him after class he's pretty cool. Do all the trivia for easy points. Class is hard b/c accounting sucks, but I could do it again.
1 word to describe the class, HORRIBLE. If u think this class is a breeze like his 120a class, don't bet on it! U have to study on your own. Even though the exam is open book/notes, they're still difficult. Be prepared to get a C or B for the class. Do the trivia because that's the only curve you will get. Good luck... prepare to hate this semester
He is super nice, very helpful, emails you outlines for each chapter,he gives you studying guides and go over the answers with you.for the test open ended question he tells you what to focus on. The class is a lot of work and has a lot of projects, but he goes over them with you, and he also gives the correct numbers. he is gr8 I would take him again
if you plan to just get by the class without too much study, this class is not the one. You have to spend some (if not a lot of) time to study to avoid a C in the class. this class's concept is hard and need some time to practice. Of course, i hope he can do better job in explaining in some concepts. but we're in college, he's somewhat helpful.
Do not take this teacher if you want to understand about tax. Because he does not teach as need for understand individual tax. He just mention the material want you can expect for test. Also what he mention sometimes you cann't get at the exam. Very boring and bad teacher. When he teach its like he energy go down.
I think this class was harder than 123A. Nevertheless, I got an A I didn't think I would get. The material seems to be more detailed than Business Tax. The only issue we had were the solutions to problems didn't match the question because the publisher didn't do a good job updating for 2009 from 2008. Overall, hard class.
Be prepared to learn the material on your own. Teacher does not really explain concepts or teach them to you. Just reads the slides to the class. Takes a LOT of time to study for this class. I've learned to hate tax because of Fowler.
4 tests, 1 final, 3 projects and quizes. Nothing is comprehensive (even final), but requires ALOT of time studying. For night class, few times had tests for two weeks in a row, plus projects can be an overload. for some reason he mentioned prop 19 when we're talking about hash totals. offers lots of help & gives hints for proj. TIME CONSUMING CLASS
Worst professor. Never explained anything, never went through any of the problems in detail. All lecture, quizzes done "as a class" (aka he just gave the answers). No hw, four exams closed note, closed book. NEVER Take his class if you have no experience in accounting.
Hes a pretty cool guy. Jokes every once in a while, and tries hard to make a boring subject(taxes) interesting. Dont let the fact that its open notes/books on exams fool you. I didnt take it seriously and got a 55% on my first exam. Study the practice quizzes and do the reading. If you try to do well, you should get C/B. At least thats what I got.
Worst Professor ever. DO NOT take his class if you've never taken accounting before. Does not go over any of the problems, doesn't explain anything. Monotone and boring lectures.
I don't like doing taxes after taking this class. There are a lot of complicated stuffs and the prof didn't teach well. Prepare to study by your own. The average is only 60% on every exam. It is super hard to get an A for this class. Just do the trivia and tax return problems. Only these two can help you to get a B in this class.
Nice personality. Very approachable. However, he is not very helpful. Prepare to do a lot of reading on your own. Do the sample questions.
Everyone was right..this class was time consuming! There's always something going on in this class.3 projects and 5 tests. Tells you whats on the exams. Make sure you do well on the multiple choice because it can make or break your score. Start on the projects early and try to get help. He's not good with replying back to emails which was annoying!
Did better in Black's class than in this one. Tested you on things from Bus20 so make sure you still remember. Projects is time consuming so dont procrastinate. Dont bother emailing or calling cell, just go for office hour. tells you whats on exam and gives review sheet so do it. Make sure on manual project you understand it for the test.
He loves to poke fun at the tax law & keep it as interesting as possible, even though it's tax. The exams are difficult, don't be fooled by open notes/book- study the quizzes & pwrpts, do the HW & read when possible. Also do the EC trivia. Attendance is helpful bc he helps out students OFTEN. Overall it's a tough class & you learn a lot.
Hardest B I've ever worked for. He's a nice guy and will help you with anything in office hours but the class is a workload. Do well on the projects because those are easy points compared to the exams. I will say he is the best option for 120A though.
if you don't understand something just ask him and he'll do his best to explain it. Overall, fair professor. Open notes/book/computer on exams. However, you won't have time to complete the exam if you don't study.
The class has time consuming projects, which is same with other prof too. So find a good group, read the text, and stay ahead of project work.
The class is just Hard. The professor is pretty cool and answers all your questions, you can call him or e-mail and he will respond shorty. Exams are hard, take your time studying. 3 projects that are very time consuming, so find a group and study together. He prepares you well for exams by going over problems and practice tests in class. Take him!
Extremely hard class. Projects are time consuming and exams cover a lot of material. He does provide study guides and practice quizzes before the tests. Also bring a camera or make sure your phone takes good pictures when he gives you previews of the projects. He does not upload any notes so attendance is a must.
Hard class!Time consuming class! You should attend all class meeting and take a good notes for exams. 4 exams, 1 final, 3 projects which you should finish ASAP. Don't email him, just go to his office to ask questions. He is the best for 120A class at SJSU. Highly recommended!
Man was he a hard professor. His projects are so time consuming so don't wait till the last minute. Go to his office hours for help on the project. TRUST ME it helps. Also, try to do his study guides. The problems on the tests are so hard. I ended up passing with a C but I had to work my butt off on the final and the lastproject which was peachtree
This prof was pretty difficult his lectures are extremely boring with a monotoned voice his projects are all very time consuming, he's a difficult grade This prof class attendance isn't mandatory most of everything he lectures in class are just stuff on his slides however he does give a little hint on what the exams are very rough hints
His tests are hard. You should always study ahead if you can. 3 projects. Each one of them are long so start early. He grades the projects more lenient compare to tests. Make sure you take the projects seriously because it will save your grade. Very helpful if you go to his office hour!
No extra credit, 6 exams included final, 3 projects: manual cast, excel, peachtree. dont skip class coz he will tell u what is on the test and take pics for the projects. he is helpful if u go to his office, dont email him. he is not an easy grader, he can take off ur points for a small thing. if u take him, work HARD. I'm getting a not easy B
I took Accounting 120A in Fall 2015. I've learned so much in Professor Fowler's class. This is not an easy class. In order to get good grades, you need to show up to all classes and study hard. Three projects during the semester give you a "taste" of accounting in the real world - traditional book keeping, Excel, and PeachTree. Highly recommended!
Tests are definitely hard and they cover a lot of material, but he does give a study guide.. which is kinda helpful. only way to pass is to study the guide and read. 3 projects and like someone said there are like 6 tests or something like that. you literally have a test every 2 weeks. the projects aren't bad, he will help you. Has monotone voice..
Don't take this professor or face the consequences if you take him. He is so monotone and makes the subject super dry and hard to follow along. However, he does tell you what is on the tests and lets you take pictures of the manual project. Just make sure to study really hard for it because he words some of the test questions in such a weird way.
Absolutely no help. Does not explain anything. He basically has you take pictures of everything and expects you to understand based on pictures. Never says why things are done the way they are. Very monotone and hard to hear when he talks, and his handwriting is barely legible, so good luck if you have the misfortune of taking him.
VERY difficult class. Tests are hard. Most students never had time to finish. He gives you a study guide; each class he goes over the answers to the questions on the study guide. The 3 projects will save your grade if you pay attention and do the project EXACTLY how he shows you. Take pictures! He is clear about what he is looking for and helpful.
Very tough. He's not very good at explaining things. You will have to prepare tax returns which he also doesn't go over, but expects you to know how to do. Exams are very tough, but open note and book. Class isn't exactly necessary as I was never able to follow along but showed up to try which didn't help.
Difficult class but doable. Even though he's monotone, he still makes an effort to explain the concepts clearly. Do each of the three projects early as soon as he teaches you how to do each part of it because they will save your grade by a whole lot. Go to his office hours if you ever need help on any part of the projects. Highly recommended!
All test are 40% multiple choice + 60% short answer and calculation which similar from Lecture notes, so make sure attend class for taking note. Comparing to other 120A AIS professors, he is the easiest one to take because 1. test are similar from lectures. 2. give particle credit on test. 3. let you take picture for recording how to do 3 projects
Take him if you are planning on going to the tax route. It is definitely not an easy A (or B) by any means. The tests are ALL open note including computers but don't rely on this. You still need to study a lot. The tests are pretty hard but the good thing is he offers plenty of extra credit and other projects to balance your grade.
Hardest accounting class ever and he's the best option
no curve, no extra credit, no open book, no page of notes. Some people have been lying but he does let you take pictures of the projects but the tests are really hard no matter how much you study
He doesn't curve everything is based on a point system. The projects help but he doesn't really teach. Instead we go over study guides for each exam. He gives partial credit and tries to explain things but he is a monotone voice and sounds kinda sad/disappointed when he talks. But he is one of the better options for this class
He's funny but that's about it. Prof Fowler is still monotone and doesn't teach; he gives you a study guide and you have to teach yourself. Since the start of class, his reason for not teaching the material is always "you should already know this" and, as a transfer, this class is even tougher because of that. Sad to say he's the "better" option.
This is a self teaching class. His excuse for not teaching is because we should know the material. Study sheets are given but ultimately unhelpful; tests have unrelated questions. He also goes out of his way to make tests difficult, laughs at people who struggle, and says verbatim, "People with dyslexia will not pass" as if it were some grand feat.
He graded this class based on 4 exams, with the lowest score being dropped. That's 90% of your grade with 10% given to everyone for "participation". I am currently one final away from failing this course because of his ridiculous useless lectures that I recommend you not to attend because they don't help at all. He expects you to know everything.
I agree that there are plenty of works in this class, and prof. Flower is also hard in grading. However, I totally understand why he has to be hard so we all can learn from our mistake. He is very helpful when I come to his office. Over all, if you need to take this class, plan according because it has many projects, tests, and one final.
I would advise you to not get beers with friends at Peanuts before his afternoon classes because you will absolutely be lulled to sleep by his monotone voice. 3 projects a lot of work but he gives you the answers in class that you have to take picutes of. He tells you exactly what will be on the tests but also doesn't really teach the material well
I feel sorry for everyone who is going to take his class or have had the horrifying experience. I'm no means saying Prof. Fowler is a horrible professor, is just way he teaches the class, really makes the whole experience horrific. Only go over study guides in class, which barely helps on the actual exam.
One of the top three most difficult courses I have ever taken at SJSU. Fowler has a monotone voice that will make it difficult at times to fully pay attention to him. Overall, three class projects, two quizzes, two exams, and one final. Tests are tricky. Answers to the projects are provided in class. Final grades are generously curved.
Professor Fowler was one of the kindest professors at SJSU. If you sit through his lectures and show up to class, he will notice and give you problems and solutions that will be on the test. You just have to practice those problems 3-5 times by yourself. Multiple choice on the tests were hard to study for but review his lecture slides for that.
Overall its a easy class in accounting. Homework and attendance is not part of the grading. Total 4 exams for one semester and 20% each. Short answer question are easy if you spend one or two hour on the problems in the study guide. However, multiple choice are hard if you don't show up in lecture. Heavy curve so it really boost your grade.
Professor Fowler has the most monotone voice in the world. At first, I thought it was because my class is at 3pm but then I went to his office hours at 10am and realized he always sounds flat. He teaches you the material by presentation and I don't learn a lot. He gives you the answers to the 3 projects and somehow I still fail.
He might seems to be a tough person but he is very caring and kind. He won't mention it but he notices what you do and how you do in class. If you truly pay attention in class, he will notice & give you good curve at the final project.
He has such a monotone voice haha. He is a good person, but even Siri from my iPhone is more enthusiastic than him. That one and only factor makes his class so difficult
You don't learn anything from him. His projects he will give you the answers so you don't actually know how to calculate the numbers. His tests he has a review that he goes through in class. He doesn't really help in office hours and his voice makes it worse
The worst professor I have EVER taken at SJSU. Never have I ever written a review on this site, but this had to be done. Currently taking this class and it is complete hell. The projects and material are time-consuming and he acts as if this class is the only class we're here for. Each project takes hours to complete!
He's not approachable. Never respond to my email. He shows you the answer to the projects, but I don't get the point of doing it learns nothing. During the Covid, he still requires us to drop off the Manual Project in his office. We had to spend our own money to send it to him due to the building lockdown. But we did not earn the full credit for it
Ken Fowler is by far the worst teacher I have ever had or heard of. Before COVID, class average test grade for 2 exams was about 50%. He said "Don't worry" when I reached out. Then he didn't do anything to help students during COVID, he must have failed the majority of the class. He doesn't belong teaching kindergarten, let alone at a university.
