Besides his essay's he is almost too easy. Essay's aren't too tough he just marks you down for each grammer and spelling error. The test are take home and he'll give the answers to you in class if you just ask. The class its self is fun and I would recommend him to anyone.
AWESOME teacher, highly recommend him to anyone. I hated history until I took this class, he makes it VERY fun. Thanks Ken!
Very easy course. You learn a lot too, I didn't know anything about history until I took his class. Highly recommended
This is the first history class that has been interesting to me EVER. I think it was easy because he was such a dynamic instructor.
This instructor was awesome. I really have never found history that interesting and I learned to love it in his class. He is just a way nice guy, very laid back. I wish I could take more classes from him. HIGHLY recommend
He was a great teacher! He knows what he is teaching so well that he lets you become a part of the past by letting you live some of the experiences the peple of the past lived. His class was so interesting that I hated it to end. A very nice person. He is there to help you succeed.
This teacher is extremely helpful. He is there for you to learn and that is the bottom line, he tries to make things as interesting as possible(as interesting as you can get in a Utah's Diversity class)His homework is easy and he explains things very thouroughly!!!
I thought that my Humanities class was going to be a drag, but Mr. Hansen actually made it interesting. He understands that you have other classes outside of his. There was about 5 or 6 larger assignments among the daily stuff, and none of it was very hard, just time consuming sometimes, but well worth it. Highly recommended!
really nice guy, willing to work with you as long as you're putting in some effort. i'd reccommend his class to anyone.
This guy is great. The stories he tells goes great with the text, you'll never get bored. I loved his Humanities class.
Fairly easy class, mandatory attendance, prof. is pretty cool and willing to work with you if you show motivation. Does grade in batches, so you have to save up your assignments and turn them in all at once. Stay organized and read the syllabus and you should be able to get full points. He does read all the journals too. Thoroughly.
Nice teacher with a great personality. I ended up dropping the class though because I felt there was misguided bias to it.
He was an awesome teacher the class was real fun but there was a lot of reading and work.
Awesome teacher.. awesome class. i was not at all interested in history untill I took this class, now I like it.
This teacher is AMAZING, I admit I love history because honestly my best teachers at every level have been history teachers, Ken is no exception. He was extremly interesting and I would take any class he was teaching in a heartbeat. Interesting stories to tell and just very helpful from beginning to end.
Ken is awesome! He's one of the best teachers I've had. The class is mostly lecture, but he keeps it interesting with his stories and videos. Very leniant on turning in assignments, doesn't enforce deadlines. Keep all your notes and you'll pass the tests with flying colors. Assignments very easy as long you can read. Again, he is awesome!
I love this teacher. I learned a lot about the U.S History and this class became my world
Good teacher. Generally forgiving with late work. Very informative. Not dry at all, unlike other History professors. Teaches in a fashion that keeps interest on the subject high.
I wasn't too excited for this class only took it cause it filled 2 requirements. He tries to keep the class interesting. You just need to show up & participate some. The tests are take home the journal assignments are easy. He'll work with students, very understanding. I'm not a fan of the actual subject but he's a good teacher.
easy wiz class. Most fun and entertaining. got enjoy the teacher and his lectures. Very Workable.
Easy Wiz. Very outgoing. Easy to work with and get along.
This is a really easy gen ed class, just some busy work. He's eager to help students out and wants you to learn and succeed. Gives you notes outlines for lectures, midterm and finals were take home tests. Attendance isn't mandatory but some of the test questions are from information you wouldn't know unless you were at the lectures.
I have never before enjoyed a history class, but this class rocked!
He is way laid back, way easy, way nice, and he made class interesting. He makes outlines to the class, so you dont need to go to class. His homework assignments are just questions about the material, all in order so you really dont have to read it, just look for key points, and alot of the questions are also in the outline he makes! AWESOME GUY!
Ken isa great teacher, very helpful, and has a great way of teaching. He has a way of teaching that keeps you interested in the subjects. I would definitely recommend him! He's groovy!
Has been a great teacher, I would recommend Mr. Hansen to anyone. Very fun and down to earth.
AMAZING Professor, he makes history come to life. make sure you have his outlines, they help a lot during the finals and midterm.... Ken is the best HIstory professor he loves it and lives it. Easy class, midterms and finals do require time though, so be prepared
I LOVED having Ken as my professor. He is extremely nice and tells interesting stories. He is very easy going which makes his class easy as well. This was the first history class I have ever enjoyed in my entire life. I highly recommend taking history from Ken!
Ken keeps the class easy and fun. Has a lot of great stories to share.
Ken was a great teacher! He really has a passion for history and you will learn a lot from him. He is very well organized and you will know exactly what to expect day one. There is some work and attendance/participation is required, but it was an easy A. The tests are hard, but are take home!
Ken is an amazing teach! He has great stories and keeps you interested. Every class, I learned something new. He is very helpful and willing to work with you. He uses outlines, but take good notes and attend class. The take-home tests are hard but good notes/his outlines will help a lot to get through it. This is a great history class!
Insightful teacher. Adds very interesting facts to the lectures that keep you entertained. His tests were super easy. You don't need the textbook at all. Just the online part to take the quizzes.
Ken is awesome!! Attendance was not mandatory but of course helps a lot! When I did the take home tests, my in class notes saved me a lot of time. He's funny and keeps the lectures interesting! Loved his class and would recommend him to anyone! If I can get an A in History, anyone can. I did not like history before at all! :)
This guy rocked. I'm in the military reserves, and this guy was super flexible while I was gone for my two weeks in the summer. Seriously, if you have a crazy schedule this guy will work with you on assignments!
Ken is a nice guy and you can tell he loves what he does, but I did not enjoy his class :(
Loved his class! He is awesome
Great class from a great teacher. I learned so much and lectures were very interesting. History came to life and I enjoyed going to class. Work is relevant to what is being taught and teacher is flexible.
Professor Hansen is an incredibly knowledgeable historian! He's down to earth and personable; his lectures are engaging and he brings history to life. He may not require that you attend class but if you want to do well, attend class....take notes.... and you will succeed. I'd definitely take another class from Professor Hansen!
I loved this professor. Though we don't share the same religious views, I appreciated how worldly and open he was. Very knowledgeable and interesting. He definitely got me interested in our history.
Mr. Hansen has been by far my favorite teacher here at SLCC. He is so passionate about History and lets you turn in late assignments. He comes to class so happy every single day. He doesn't even need power points to talk about the lessons. He is full of knowledge and i have TRULY enjoyed his class.
Professor Hansen is bar none the best teacher i've had. For a 3 hour long class, I was amazed he was able to keep my interest every time. Very funny and personable! The project is definitely a big one but not hard, and as long as you do your work and show you actually put some thought into it you will get a good grade. Great Class!
Mr Hansen was a really great teacher and you can tell that he is very passionate about what he teaches.
Ken is a really great teacher. He knows what he is talking about and his class is really informative. He is a really nice guy.
This class was so exciting, his lectures can feel kind of long but take good notes and you will be solid! He helps so much, if there is a subject you don't understand he will go through it to make sure you know what it is about. I would really recommend taking this class from Ken!
Mr. Hansen really knows his stuff and is a great professor. He is very helpful and wants you to succeed and enjoy his class. He is just an overall nice, likable person. His lectures are great and thorough. Class is almost exclusively him lecturing, which is a good thing. There are detailed take-home tests and two big papers. Work at your own pace.
I never thought I could sit through a four hour class on Friday mornings, but with Ken it was easy. I'm a source snob and he had original sources backing up everything he said. I loved the long papers and the take home tests. Ken will answer any questions you have; he makes American history fascinating. I would love to take this class again.
The only problem I had with this class, is that I signed up to take the Diverse Heritage of Utah class, but you'd really have to look for the diversity in what was taught. It definitely was a Utah history class, but I feel that the diversity was lost in the lectures. The lectures are some of the most boring I've ever sat through.
Hansen is a great teacher! His lectures are long, but interesting. Not much homework so don't procrastinate! Do it ahead of time so he can give you feedback and you can fix your papers. He doesn't penalize you for late work but don't take advantage of that. I'm glad I took this class from him because he really knows his stuff and cares about you!
Ken was a great professor, you can tell he really does want every student to pass with flying colors. If you miss class, you will fail simply because attendance counts. When you go to class though it is really really easy to pass. I literally watched Netflix the entire time most classes. Take home tests that are so easy! I recommend Ken to anyone.
Mr. Hansen is simply the best. He cares about his students and has a passion for teaching about history. He lectures heavily, but for the most part, his lectures are extremely interesting. The assignments are easy, and the tests are open book/notes. He allows late work, but don't take advantage. I plan on taking another one of his classes soon!
The workload for this class was way too heavy for an entry level course. Also, at times the assignments and setup was quite unorganized and due dates never matched the calendar or syllabus. The final take home exam had 125 questions, plus there was an in class final essay. The teachers personal beliefs heavily influence teaching style.
Ken is a good teacher, and I learned a lot in his class. You do get graded on attendance, but you can miss a couple classes and be fine. You will have to write a lot and do research on a bunch of historical subjects for that writing, but overall homework is not bad. Tests are easy and there is only three. He makes the lectures interesting.
I can't say how amazing Ken is! I wish that I could take more history classes through him! His lectures and note outlines are the best I have ever seen. He is very understanding and really cares about his students. He is the best professor at SLCC! He makes history interning and enjoyable!
I loved Ken! He was very respectful, super smart and kept his students engaged. Easy and interesting class.
I learned so much from this class, Professor Hansen really cares about what he teachers and his students. He has done a lot of his own research, you take away a really good understanding of Utah's history and heritage, and also there are interesting class discussions.
Professor Ken is very knowledgable and you can come up with any questions about history. His lectures are amazing and you will have couple of assignments to do but they are not very difficult. All in all a great teacher.
He doesn't respond to any messages I send him but when I ask him in class he says he got them and still doesn't answer my questions. His tests and assignments are different then what he lectures on in class. He doesn't have an accurate syllabus when assignment is due. I think people just like him because he grades nice even because it isn't taught.
Ken is a good professor. You will truly see that he loves teaching history. I learned quite a lot from his lectures, and they were very interesting. He does take home tests, and the other assignments were easy. He could definitely work a little more on organization regarding following the syllabus. Overall, I recommend anyone take a class from him!
This course was a typical history class, but the lectures are more interesting and engaging than I've experienced in the past. Attendance is taken every class, so I wouldn't recommend this if you don't anticipate actually showing up. I would prefer this professor over others.
Very nice professor, you will learn a lot! Make sure you pay attention in class and, please, TAKE NOTES! Some things that you will get on the tests come from his lectures and not the documents posted on canvas so, again, make sure you takes some notes in every class.
I really like him, and I like that he doesn't grade you against others. Ive dropped History 1700 twice because I
There is a lot of viewing of power point lectures, but overall the class is not hard if you pay attention and show up. Tests are fun and easy and less stressful, overall a great class!
This was an easy class. Lots of papers though. Here is every assignment you'll do, 4 short papers about historical videos you watch on YouTube. 1 long paper about a historical document. 3 take homes tests. A term project. And the in class short final/essay. All were really easy and if you don't like your grade you can redo them. Easy if you work.
He was so nice I honestly loved his class! Its a long lecture but he really does make it interesting the tests are take home and on the day of the final he put relaxing music did our essay that was open note to get info. but there also was a 20 question quiz but just to see what you learned. other than that its an easy A I would retake again!
This class was pretty good. His tests are take home tests that are posted at the beginning of the semester so my biggest tip to you is to answer the questions to it while he lectures during class. Saves a lot of time when its due. Make sure your grammar is good in papers, he's strict on that. Quit a bit of writing, but the tests are super easy
Awesome Instructor! He is very understanding and flexible. Easy A if you turn your work a little bit of effort. Most of the exams are take home . Only the final exam and final essay are in-class , where you can use a notebook for points .Go with him !!!
Ken was great. Cared about the subject and made sure everyone knew what they were doing. Not a ton of homework, and the homework is easy. A couple of tests, which are take home and open book, so easy. Do your work and you will pass the class.
Great guy and great teacher. Very easy to work with and does his best to accommodate his students.
Good guy who loves his craft. His class was a little boring to me but it by no means was it difficult. If you did however end up having any issues he had a great attitude about helping you out. Take notes and get the tests done in a timely manner and you'll do fine.
Prof. Hansen is a very welcoming professor. It's very clear that he wants you to succeed in his classroom. Hansen has few assignments and grades very fairly. The biggest assignments that are graded is the e-portfolio and your take home exams. Also, very approachable and interesting lectures. It's an easy "A" if you do the work.
He's a great professor who really cares about his students. He understands that you have other classes and so he doesn't overwhelm you with homework. He gives good lectures and its easy to follow along. Tests are open note take home and as long as you pay attention and take a bit of notes you will do well in the class. You should take his class!
Amazing professor, as a newer college student he is very flexible, caring, and understanding of the student. If I could I would take his class again. Just keep up and do the work and you'll get a passing grade. Tests are take homes, and his essays students can select the topic with a variety of choices.
Professor Hansen is an amazing professor. He's very flexible and is willing to work with you as long as you communicate with him. If you show up to class and follow his lectures, you'll pass the tests, especially since they are take home.
Great professor. His work in class is really easy and you can fix the mistakes you make. Beware of spelling though, he does take down points for that. Overall he's great.
5 out of 5 stars! Totally recommend! This was one of the best classes I have taken. Mr. Hansen is very clear on assignments and is always happy to review your work for re-submissions. I would definitely take a class from him again. He makes learning History fun!
This professor is incredible he cares deeply about your success and helps with anything you need. Make sure to really look at the lecture notes and take notes on them because all tests are on those notes and answers are In them. Overall, if you respect him he will respect you, he cares about spelling, your best work, and coming to class :)
Ken is such an amazing professor! The class is super easy and he makes it so interesting. I would definitely take this class if I were you!
This professor is great! I think history classes are boring so it's as good as you can get. You'll only have to write 6 papers the whole semester (2-4pages, final 8 pages). He uses Chicago Manual Style which once you learn will become your new favorite. Easy Grader. If you miss class you just need to make comments during class to earn them back.
Ken is knowledgeable and passionate about his teachings. Deadlines are reasonable and he provides examples of what he looks for when grading. Class can be boring at times but it is overall an easy A.
Lectures and tests contained large amounts of false information. Said several bigoted things throughout the semester. Class is incredibly easy, however the workload is very heavy, it's just that he's a very easy grader on the assignments.
His class was easy if you show up. He has notes that he puts in canvas where you can look and go along while you are in class. His test were easy. It is an open book. I would take this class again.
Fantastic history professor. He gives us the lecture notes, which allows us to just focus on actually learning history as opposed to writing down every date and name. Each exam was a take home exam and allowed us to use the notes he provided us. All of the exam questions were based on the notes he provides, so super easy. Just don't miss class.
Beware of inappropriate political bias if you're a conservative. This is an easy class if you do the homework.
He is a great professor. No matter your political views, he states FACTS about history and current events. Very interactive with students and loves conversation during his lectures.
He's got some whack political views that will get mentioned sometimes, but other than that is a normal professor. The assignments are papers that are done throughout the semester and it's pretty easy to keep up on.
His lectures are very long and boring- but he is passionate about the subject which is good. He is a quick and fair grader. He will work with you on deadlines and help you. His tests are open note which is essential because the tests are long and detailed. He is very pro Mormon but factual in his teachings. I would take again
To start, he is genuinely the best professor I've ever had! He's super understanding, will work with you, and the class work is reasonable but easy. I loved this class!
Lectures were long but very informative. You can tell he has lots of knowledge and passion on these subjects. The assignment given were straightforward but if you had any questions, he was always willing to answer them.
