All around great guy, funny and knows what he's talking about. Gives more clicker questions than other profs but only takes your top 4. Very approachable and uses clickers to ensure you understand concepts. My favourite prof so far!
a really nice guy, makes jokes in class. love this guy. kenny's the best.
Good prof, explains everything really well and makes great use of clickers to make sure everyone understands. Sometimes his classes get pretty rowdy while he's teaching, but overall he's pretty good!
What a gem
he is awesome! very approachable and knowledgable.
My favourite Professor thus far! He makes it easy to understand concepts and adds good humour to the class.
Definitely one of the best econ profs at Laurier. Easy to understand the material and a nice guy. His classes can get loud though since he allows talking though.
Hes a good prof and gives you something nice to look at ;)
Awesome professor. Best economics prof at WLU. Wish he was teaching EC140.
Great professor. I learned a lot, the bonus marks he provided for the company project were helpful. He shows interest in all of his students. Very interesting course that I recommend to all econ students
cool guy, very nice to look at, enjoyed class learned lots thxxx
Solid prof, has a lot of clickers, but they're fair, and he gives so many that you will get 100 on your clicker grade by the end of the term. Very approachable, and gives clear instructions. Only downside is that he tends to move a little faster at times.
Amazing professor! He cares about his students and is extremely approachable. Best prof at WLU!
Was a very helpful professor, made economics a great learning experience!
This guy was awesome, really spurred my interest in economics. Because of him I am pursuing a minor in econ
Great overall teacher, very informative and gives extra detail on lectures.
Excellent
Best econ prof. lets u sleep in his 8:30
A easy course for first year, his slides are helpful.
read before showing up
Amazing professor for first year Microeconomics. The structure of the course is very simple yet effective. Expect weekly online assignments worth 10% of your grade, and in-class clicker questions worth 5% (both very easy). Midterms were both easy. Reading the textbook is crucial.
Great professor. I am trying to change my class to his again
Great prof, really knows all there is to know about economics. Clear speaker and always great with clarifications. Also has the most beautiful face
Great prof, switched into his class this semester
For economics, which is a relatively dry subject, Ken made it very interesting. He used a good balance of clicker question to help our understanding, was very thorough in his explanations of concepts as well. He's a funny guy too which is a bonus.
Ken is awesome, always willing to help you out and quite the nice view if i do say so
Really great prof; extremely clear and concise. Gives lots of time for prelecture quizzes which is nice. He is always there to help when needed! Pretty attractive too, as an added bonus ;)
Ken Jackson made EC120 more interactive and interesting than it should have been. His lectures are usually full while students from other sections also join his lectures. Course grading is laid out very well. He does a good job of encouraging students to go to lecture. I go to lectures just for him.
Great
Gives clear explanations of content. Good Powerpoints. Fair midterms and final exam. Even if you hate econ, you'll usually like Ken Jackson.
Awesome guy in Laurier, best econ prof!!!
Ken was amazing in Ec120, but ec140 was much worse. His lectures and slides are organized well, as always. But, I didn't feel he had as much knowledge of macro which made lectures confusing, and the content was so boring. He keeps you engaged with clicker questions, but still very dry material.
Basically the greatest of all time. Demand for knowledge and supply was met. #equilibrium
Ken Jackson was the best prof I've had to date. His lectures were amazing and he truly knew his stuff inside out. I highly recommend anyone taking either ec120/140 to choose him.
THIS MAN IS AN ABSOLUTE LEGEND. KEN "THE BAE" JACKSON
He's a Legend. Kenny J is the way to go for EC120 or 140
This man is a hero! Best prof I've ever had. If someone does badly on ec120, that's definitely his fault, because Ken's class is perfect.
Great prof.
Awesome. He is the Econ God
Ken's Ec120 class was amazing, very interactive with the students and his clicker questions were great to learn the content. Plus, Ken has a beautiful face.
not as great as people hype him up to be. he's a fine prof, but he doesnt explain concepts as clearly as he could. midterms are exactly like the practice ones they give you, and sometimes they just copy/paste the questions and answers.
Easy class depending on whether you had a good econ background coming in from highschool. For me, this was mostly a review course, and once I earned my perfect clicker grades, I stopped going to class. That being said, Ken was a great prof and he explained concepts well. But the exam is based off the textbook and he summarizes the textbook.
Ken Jackson is a very clear speaker in class. He explains the clicker questions well. The lecture notes that he posts are basically his script, which makes taking notes easier. EC120 requires reading the textbook every week and completing short quizzes before and after lectures. These quizzes are fair and help you understand the material.
Excellent professor.
The course wasn't too difficult. I thought Ken Jackson was great prof. He speaks very well, he's engaging, and explains the material well. I definitely would take him again.
lectures were okay, i was tired by the time I got to this class so paying attention was hard. Its easy to get a good mark, but studying more than 3 hours for final is recommended.
Ken Jackson is a great prof. He is engaging and he prepares many clicker questions each class so students can practice multiple choice questions and receive full marks for participation. I would recommend reading the textbook as well because it was helpful. Very important to do mock exams because many of the questions are the same or very similar.
Great prof! You can clearly hear what he taught, and have a logic thought about what's going on.
Ken is a great prof. Had him for both EC120 and 140. His lectures are super clear and if you took high school econ, these courses are so easy, its just like a review course.
Hes awsome. enough said.
By far the best prof in first year BBA - engaging lectures, helpful slides, and quick responses to emails or discussion threads on myLS. Ken gives us ALL the resources we need to do well - review quizzes are exactly like the exams, and Lecture homework is great review to ensure you understand concepts. Extremely laid-back and intelligent prof.
Hi I love ken but the exam is hard so study
Man is an overall Gem and a great prof. He teaches clearly and is very understandable
Great prof, very clear even in front of such a huge class.
Great prof that really goes out of his way to make sure his students that are getting adjusted to university and are a little bit lazy still, have a chance to adjust and still be successful.
Ken is a super chill prof, he really cares for all of his students. If you are struggling, I definitely recommend going to his office hours, he's really nice and good at explaining things. I find his lectures somewhat useless because he is not good at explaining concepts, so get ready to study the textbook and practice quizzes for the midterm/final
The content is not hard if you stay on top of it! Ken is a good teacher but in a class of 1000 people it's hard to pay attention. I would strongly recommend reading the textbook after class to put the pieces from lecture together. For exams, doing the practice work he gives you as well as the review quizzes will help a ton.
Ken is the best prof I have had so far in my first year! He does almost everything he can to help students understand the content- you just have to make sure that you seek his help. The course itself requires you to put in some work to understand the material but it is not impossible by any means. I would take any class Ken teaches again.
He's funny, smart and entertaining. Overall a solid prof, helps you understand the material really well, makes you somewhat excited for econ, usually.
his lectures don't really help with understanding the content but he's a good prof otherwise - he's available for help outside of class pretty often and clearly cares about his students.
Great guy, the first years kind of made him into a meme god. Great prof, very clear and provided ample resources for students to utilize in order to be successful. Class isnt as easy as it seems, the average turned out to be a B-
A real gem!! Takes jokes well and tries to make content funny. He knows lecture content is super dry and tries to work around it. If you read the textbook before the lecture and then attend the lecture, you'll get all the clicker marks and you'll probably do pretty well in the course (that's what I did). Save your life, do the review quizzes!!
Ken Jackson is the best prof I have ever had. I have taken two of his classes and in both of them 20% was based off of take home assignments you could re-do until you got perfect.
I hope he's teaching upper level classes because I would take them then
I love him
Great but sometimes doesn't explain things well.
great guy, fine prof, his lectures don't really help with grasping any concepts. Recommend reading the textbook in depth.
EC120 and EC140 are easy courses and Ken Jackson as an instructor makes it even more easier. Ken Jackson Daddy of Economics
If you do the online homework, EC120/140 shouldn't be too bad. Ken Jackson is an amazing prof for first years who really cares for his students and the material he is teaching. If I recall, no one else teaches the first year economics courses so you don't have a choice of taking him, but Ken does not disappoint. Really sparked my interest in econ.
great guy, remains positive and genuinely tries to help students understand econ, even when faced with 1000 student lectures. he makes tests fair while still challenging.
LOVE HIM. You don't even have to worry about not going to class cuz you will want to go just to see him. On top of that, he's a great lecturer, and makes econ look more interesting than it actually is. Gorgeous.
Maybe much more acceptable for others, but for me it is hard to understand what he is talking about. He is a nice guy, but his course is hard.
Great guy! Ken is the econ god, dont take any first year econ course that he does not teach.
Daddy of Economics.
Great guy! If you show up to class and take notes, you'll get a good grade.
Can't go wrong with K-Jax. Homework and study modules are graded. Going to class isn't really necessary, however, clicker questions are vital for the 21% you get for completing them (+ HW, DSM, online quizzes w unlimited attempts). Easy to talk to and is always available for interaction.
no doubt the best prof on earth. go to office hours ask questions and you cant fail
Ken Jackson is an excellent prof. The way his class is structured if you complete the homework you get a free 21% and by doing that it's literally impossible to fail. He gives you the old midterms before you do your midterm too. I've heard he's pretty helpful in office hours too but I've never had to go because I read the textbook which makes it ez
just an absolute beauty, best prof at Laurier
THE GOAT
Ken is the best prof ever. He just gets it, he gets us. He does so much for his students. Econ can be a hard concept to follow however Ken makes it a lot easier. Hands down my favourite professor.
Ken is a very good professor. Although his teaching style in lectures wasn't the best for my learning style, his office hours came to great use. He is very patient and good at explaining one on one. You can tell that he truly has a passion for Econ and for teaching. He genuinely cares for his students.
A real solid dude. I didn't attend half the classes and ended with a 10 almost an 11. The lectures I did attend, he teaches very well. Provides you with all the resources you need to be successful.
Easily one of the best profs I've ever had. He is very caring and genuinely wants to see his students succeed. His lectures are usually fun and intriguing with all the clickers. Midterms and final is fair and usually lecture-based. Overall, an amazing, caring prof. Hope I have him again in upper years.
Very caring attitude towards students, wants to see them do well. Offers lots of office hours and additional support. A lot of homework and review quizzes to help you master concepts and pass the midterms. Would highly recommend as a prof and would definitely have him again if the opportunity arises
Amazing amazing prof. Jackson made the transition from high school to university much easier.
Dr. Jackson is truly a great professor who cares about all of his students. He keeps Econ engaging with clickers and good lectures and it isn't very hard to do well in the class if you put in the work. Midterms and exams are all based on practice quizzes, never any surprises.
Ken is an amazing prof. He gives credit for minor assessments to help you learn the material and improve your mark.
Ken Jackson is the best professor, hands down.
Ken Jackson gives lots of opportunities to increase your grade through the graded homework, this work also helps you understand the content a lot better.
Ken Jackson is a G. His lectures were pretty in-depth and he was the first prof I've seen to make use of clickers properly. He does give a lot of homework, but it can only help your final grade; 21% of your EC120 final grade was almost guaranteed because you could re-do homework. Great office hours. Recommend switching into his class if you can.
I had no idea how to do economics, but Ken somehow helped me get a B+ in this course so he definitely did something right! The grading structure of EC120 was great and very success-oriented. I wish he taught EC140 this year as well!
hard to catch up with him
he is one of the best profs at wlu period. He is so chill with everything. really cares for his students. the type you can literally go to his office hours and talk about issues outside of class/econ and hed help. fun guy ken
Ken is very helpful when asked. Slides are bland, but talked about to a maximum during lectures. Extremely nice professor who obviously cares about his students.
Best prof on this planet, no one will ever compare to Ken Jackson. Hoping to have him again in the future
He doesn't seem to respond to the students' questions, and it is difficult to keep up with him.
He's gorgeous. Long live Daddy Jackson! Only complaint is his handsomeness can be distracting. Is he married?
Ken Jackson is literally the CEO of Sympathy. Always thinks of his students best learning interests, super fast email responder, and always tries to accommodate and help you if you have any difficulty.
So understanding. Best prof, genuinely wants students to achieve. His tests are quite hard though, so be prepared to see material not covered in lectures or textbook.
Ken Jackson is the most caring and helpful prof at laurier. He has tons of review sessions and office hours and he is so patient answering students' questions. Make sure you pay attention in class and do all the homework as the tests can be difficult. Ken stayed up until 12 am doing review on zoom. He is amazing! Lets get ken to 5/5 rating!!!!!!!!!
Outstanding Prof
THE GOAT. Best prof at Laurier and makes econ super easy, also really fun lectures
Ken Jackson has made learning from home so much better! Other profs at Laurier should definitely learn from him.
I almost failed this course bc of my poor time management, and eventually had to drop it. regardless, ken jackson is a gem. the material is not too hard and ken teaches it extremely well. had I put in the hours, I could've done way better. ken gives you countless opportunities to succeed. the minor assessments pretty much gaurantee you 20%.
I love this man.
Had this class over Zoom... Ken was an absolute beauty, my favourite prof of the semester. Very helpful, consistent office hours, and makes class enjoyable.
I have never seen a prof patiently answer the same questions so many times. Ken has live lectures, tutorials and hours and hours of review sessions for students. He goes above and beyond for students. An absolute sweetheart. Made econ a fun class. Midterms are hard so study lots.
Prof. Jackson is the best professor on the planet. Even when people are asking the same questions in chat, Prof. Jackson takes the time to ensure everyone understands the content. If you have the chance to take a class with him, I would highly recommend!
The best professor at Laurier Hands down
He's sooooo good. The best prof ever in Wilfrid Laurier University.
Ken is a prof who actually cares about his students! He holds so many extra help sessions for review and answers all questions you may have about course content! He's chill, understanding, and super nice, definitely one of my favorite profs!
Absolute legend. He is honestly the best prof I've had so far in Laurier. He wants to see us all succeed as individuals and he is very patient when it comes to teaching.
Dr. Ken Jackson is hands-down the best professor I have had at Laurier to date. In lecture he goes over every concept in-depth, answers all questions patiently and gives all relevant information. He does not offer extra credit, but the course is structured in the most fair manner possible, giving you every chance to succeed. Ken is a true educator.
lives up to the hype, absolute legend.
Honestly the best prof I had this term. Despite the online format, he still tried to make connections with students and ran extra review sessions before tests sometimes past midnight. He genuinely cares about students and wants them to succeed.
The greatest prof you will ever get.
Mr. Ken is so nice!!! He has great lecture and very patient to answer questions. On my final exam, he gave a wish to all the students which touches me a lot. He is the best professor!
Genuinely cared about the wellbeing of students for online class a stark contrast with most other distance learning courses right now
Ken Jackson is the exact opposite of what high school teachers tell you about how university profs will be. Caring, awesome and funny. Will miss being in his class dearly.
Best prof you'll probably have, sad I got to experience him so early on because no prof will compare to him
Such an amazing prof. The only class that was not discouraging during online classes. Love him. You can tell how much he cares about his student's success. Love you Ken!
We love ken
I don't have enough characters to explain how amazing Ken Jackson is but he is probably the most amazing professor/instructor you will ever have in all your years of school. He was by far the most considerate prof I had all semester and always takes time out of his day to connect with his students. We love you Ken Jackson - the GOAT
Ken is the real GOAT. He made the transition to university much easier and really makes an effort to connect with students outside of class. If you have the chance to have Ken as your prof, DONT miss the opportunity!!
Ken is the gem of your first year at Laurier. He has been so caring to all of his students during the pandemic, which is an amazing feat considering he was teaching upwards of 1900 students. EC120 is a course that 100% requires you to do your readings and homework, but Ken makes the work enjoyable and helps his students achieve their best.
Bombed my tests and exams and still managed to finish with a sufficient grade thanks to Ken's grading process that is extremely success orientated. Genuinely cares about his students and the course material. He goes above and beyond especially with covid, he has been very accommodative. Lots of homework but it is fun and very beneficial in the end.
As a first-year student, ken is not like a professor that a high school teacher usually describes. He is pretty chill and he really got a sense of humour. Follow his guides and do the practises then you'll be fine. Love to take another course in the future if there is a chance.
It was a great class! I would take again
Great guy
Ken is the complete opposite of how high school students described professors. During the pandemic he definitely cared for his students, would host many office hours, and tried his best for everyone to understand his content. His course load is manageable, and his tests are very fair. I recommend anyone to take a course with this man. Absolute GOAT
Ken was the GOAT, genuinely cares about his students. Would make sure that he was being fair when it came to assigning stuff, grading stuff, and his tests were fair and straight forward. His use of practice quizzes on MYLS was super useful. Genuinely a great teacher.
Laurier needs to put Ken Jackson on their balance sheet because he is their largest asset. He is practically carrying Laurier at this point. The GOAT!
the best professor in Laurier. Super caring and understanding you'll never find any professor like him. Petition for Ken to be prime ministerrrrr
Highlight of my 1st semester. What a god. Don't be baited into taking other econ courses at Laurier though, Ken Jackson's EC120 is an outlier in terms of teaching quality.
Great professor. 20% of your grade are extremely easy assignments that he gives you so many chances to do. Good lectures.
The best.
I wish I could have him for every single class, no one cares about students more than Ken, a true gem.
Ken is a great guy and a excellent teacher for EC120/Ec140. However, with EC310 he takes forever to grade things and will give completely unrelated lectures to test material. Great guy, not so great teacher when you get into the later years and the content isnt so mindless that a caveman can get a 12
Ken's great, but the content's still pretty hard in my opinion so you definitely want to make it to his homework sessions and rely on reading the textbook a lot too.
Great prof! Had him back in 2017. Always there to help and even replies to students on the spotted twitter account. He's always been quite accommodating with due dates as well-has extend deadlines for st pattys, Halloween etc HAHA.
Best professor I've ever had
My favourite professor at Laurier. Lectures are very helpful, professor is very understanding and cares about his students.
Very good professor!
Ken is a great prof, he really wants his students to succeed
Ken Jackson will forever be the goat. He speaks to students in the perspective of a student and treats everyone as his equal. A true gem at laurier.
Super nice Professor, gives tons of opportunity to get goods marks. He really cares about the students and does tons of review and tutorial sessions.
Nice guy but overhyped professor. Ken SPEEDS through lecture, making it impossible to take notes. He also assigns work to do EVERY single day like DSMs, Homework, Practice Quizzes, etc. But, NONE of the questions on the minor assessments are related to content on tests or exams. The textbook is useless too, apart from theory. EC140 needs a remodel.
Kenneth is incredibly confusing. He continuously rushes through every lecture and explains things in complicated fashion. The questions on the practice tests are nothing like the ones on the real test. Additionally, he can be rude when explaining things. Avoid Kenneth at all costs.
One of the best profs I ever had. Set students up for success!
This guy's the goat. Key to success in his class is to do the practice quizzes on your own (they're all on quizlet, but you don't learn anything from that). Once you do all of them multiple times over, you can get a good grasp on the questions he's going to ask. 20% of your mark is based on minor assessments that you can get 100% on very easily.
Ken was a great prof for EC140. Lectures were fun and he had lots of real-world examples of class topics which made it far more engaging than EC120 imo. Ken was also super understanding and curved/adjusted assignments as necessary. Reading the textbook and taking brief notes of formulas and key graphs makes this class pretty easy and manageable.
Ken is an amazing and very understanding prof! You have to really put in the work to fully grasp the material as it can be challenging. Do the DSM's and homework - it's an easy 20% of your mark and make sure to do the practice quizzes on your own. He was easily accessible with frequent office hours and tutorial sessions.
Ken was an amazing professor who really cared about his students. He always had lots of Q&A sessions for those looking for extra help and had tutorials multiple times a week as well. Ken always made jokes and really cared for his students. I really enjoyed going to his class and hope I can have him again!!
Just a perfect prof all around. Nothing more to be said.
Let me put it this way. Ken made me pick up my enthusiasm and confidence for Econ. He hosted weekly tutorials and updated the grades on time after each module has been finished. In his class, he uses the example from reality and associates knowledge with it. Never regret taking his classes!
Cant come across real G'S like Ken Jackson nowadays. Put in his 100% with his teaching and truly cares how well you do in his classes. Best prof I had at laurier!
Fantastic prof
ken is the best econ prof for ec140 period
Ken is a good professor, but his lectures were somewhat fast in-person and sometimes he would rush towards the end. Personally, I would rather just watch his online recordings and go at your own pace. Clicker questions and similar to midterms and exams.
Attend class and complete the mini assessments for an easy 20% towards your grade. I recommend always reading the textbook before class, doing your best to understand it, and then going to lectures as they can be fast-paced and confusing if you have no background in what he's discussing. Really grasp onto the concepts (especially those Ken repeats)
Amazing prof, 10/10 would recommend. If you put in the work in his class you will succeed
HES SO AMAZING
Don't really like or understand econ and still got a decent mark, which is a testament to how clear and understandable Ken teaches the material.
ACTUALLY THE BEST PROFESSOR EVER !!!
Really great at teaching. Super fair and reasonable. Made sure students learned but not overbearing over difficult.
Ken Jackson is the definition of what a good prof is. The difficulty of the class is enough to push you to learn more, but not too much to be frustrating. Lectures are generally interesting and he talks about economic concepts and applies them to the current news. Theres a reason he's rated 5 stars!
By far my favourite professor at Laurier. Ken's lectures were engaging, and he always made sure we understood the concepts he explained in-lecture. As long as you put in a bit of effort, you can do really well in Ken's EC140 course.
So helpful!
hes decent
overrated prof, he's not the worst but not the best either. doesn't curve midterms or final, but lectures aren't bad.
So many opportunities to do well in this course. He has a lot of office hours and is almost always available to answer questions, which is great. He's also a nice view.
Excellent well-rounded prof. Definitely one of the better ones in first year. Exams are fair but be prepared to work hard to achieve a high grade. I'll definitely be choosing macro over micro for second year.
Ken truly goes above and beyond for his students- from hosting extra tutorials to answering every question on his discussion board, which was hundreds through the semester. He's an amazing lecturer you can tell he truly cares about his students.
Overrated in my opinion but pretty solid prof. Easy midterms and finals and covers content well in lectures.
He's one of the best profs I have had in first year. His lectures are amazing, he teaches very well and makes good jokes sometimes. If you pay attention in lectures and/or read the textbook, it's very easy to understand the content. Exams are all multiple choice and you have a cheat sheet, so they are not too hard. Overall, I enjoyed EC140!
Best prof I've had in my 1st year!!! His lectures are easy to understand and are always engaging. He goes out of his way to help students and ensure they understand the material. DO THE PRACTICE QUIZZES MULTIPLE TIMES!! He puts similar/exact same questions on the exam and remember to skim the textbook prior to the lectures.
I rarely attended the lectures, however, whenever I did I was thoroughly engaged. The professor does a great job making the lectures accessible online and posts all his material as well. I honestly did not do any work for this course and guessed most of the questions on the exams and still passed somehow. If you study the exams are very very fair.
Good guy
He is the most responsible teacher I've ever met, he teaches very well, I recommend you choose him!
Dr. Ken Jackson has some of the best lectures in the department of Economics. He provides clear and concise examples and does a good job simplifying more advanced concepts. Reading the textbook is not mandatory, but helps provide more in depth information. The online homework was technically optional, but partly counts towards the final grade.
One of the best professors Laurier has to offer. Although not mandatory, highly suggest attending lecture as he explains key concepts well and answers all questions.
I would love to have Ken Jackson as my professor again. He's super understanding and gives the best feedback. He's always ready to help when needed especially after exams.
Goated
The best
Ken Jackson is a very good professor what I particularly liked was how fair his exams are with there being nothing unexpected on them and him preparing you very well for them.
Run, run while you still can.
doesn't just talk about the slides goes in-depth into the content and takes his time to explain complex topics. Hands down the best prof I've had.
Professor Jackson is a good professor, he gives a lot of real life applications of the topics he discussed in his lectures. He is very passionate.
Professor Jackson is engaging and makes complex topics digestible. The exams are fair and well-aligned with the material. For extra study help, I found unstuck ai and ChatGPT to be useful supplements. Overall, a great class worth taking.
Good professor but way too overhyped, straightforward class, not super engaging but not boring either, respectable.
He assumes you already know complex topics and are an economist. Reading the textbook before class got me through the semester as I couldn't understand his classes. Exams are easy if you make a good cheat sheet and understand the textbook. He is a nice guy though.
Good Prof. Not really a hard class but it's interesting. Exams are very fair, and he gives extremely good practice material for them, like past exams and practice quizzes that are very similar. You don't really have to go to class to do well as long as you give yourself 3-5 days to study. One of the better profs and wants you to do well.
Goated economics prof who keeps it real. Lectures worth attending, fair grading scheme, applicable content, and an easy to use textbook.
The silver fox of Laurier. His lectures definitely do not dissapoint.
great prof
