Great Teacher! Ken posts his notes online. You can tell he really likes to teach and help students learn. Gives 105 points possible on all tests even though 100 is A+. Not the easiest in the world, but if you go to class and do the hw, you'll be fine.

Ken is a really nice guy. He doesn't drop any of the seven exams, but his exams are tame compared to other math professors. The final is cummulative, half memorization questions, half actual problems, but on the second half you get to use a full sheet of paper. He takes attendance every day though.

Hard teacher, but fair. On some of the tests we were given only a fraction of the time we should have gotten to do all the problems, but when he graded them he gave a lot of partial credit for problems i wasnt able to finish. Great guy. Extremely dorky.

I have never had a teacher provide you the notes to their lecture before. But Prof Ken does and has a website that is quite useful. His tests are challenging but he is extremelly fair and even gives you an outline to prepare. I learned more from him than from any other teacher. He is really nice, funny and goes all out to help his students.

He's one of the most energetic and easiest teacher i've ever taken for math. Very clear and helpful,(sometimes too helpful to some dudes that were asking too much questions annoyingly). He's also the first one i've met that give extra credit 10% for each rewrite of each test, which is easy enough itself without any tricks. Just memmorization

He's got a great sense of humor and well, you can tell he loves doing what he does! Anyways, here's a TIP: DO the HOMEWORK! It's an instant death if you don't keep up!!

Professor Kuniyuki is really nice. He gets so excited about math, its so funny hehe. I havent finished the class yet but so far he is pretty easy but sometimes can talk really fast so pay attention and do all the hw. Also ask him for help during review. He will go over the entire problem. Unlike Other professors Ive had. Hes really chill.

He teaches at a fast pace but he makes it easier to learn. Tests are 150 pts and homework (20 pts) is due on the test days. He does not give out extra credit but he is definitely a good teacher

I think he got his Masters in Statistics from the #1 ranked statistics program - Stanford Statistics. Has a Masters in Math from UCSD also. Super loves teaching.

the course has some tough materials but look at his notes and samples b/c it really helps. His test are clear and have no surprise materials that wasn't cover by his lectures and notes. There're also old quizes that are his website which really help if you need something like a study guide. Great Prof, i have fun in his class.

Professor Ken is by far the most dedicated, most helpful and most informative Math teacher I have encountered. This is my second class with him and I plan on taking his Calc III class as well. By far I feel like I learned more in his class than any other class I've taken so far. He even provides you with his notes and practice exams on his website!

Who else would you want teaching your math class but the quintessential math nerd? He truly enjoys what he does. He is very knowledgeable and helpful and adds humor and lightheartedness to a subject I dread. His notes were also how I survived Calc 2 with a far less capable instructor.

Ken makes every effort to help you succeed in his class. He is very available and assigns only relevant hmwk. There's still alot of hmwk and many quizzes and tests but the class is structured so you can learn effectively. Some other teachers don't assign the proper hmwk problems and you end up not learning. Go out of your way to take him.

Great teacher very funny. Tests from previous years are online with answers. So when you take the test they are very similar. Except the final. Got all A's on the tests and hw. But final not so good so i got a B+ in class. Went to class for like 20 mins then left. All the notes are online. Just study the previous tests and you will be fine.

I took Calculus I with Teegarden and got a D because Teegarden didn't know how to teach (his class shrunk to about 8 people when I was in it), took it again instead with Kuniyuki & got an A! i was a bit concerned about taking this math class, but i scored a hit with prof k. this complicated math course is made learnable with him, tho it requires work and study. attend class, tests mostly on his notes, excellent availability, text necessary for charts, great prof and clear in presentations. prof k gets top scores on all levels. Ken is one of the best math professors out there. You are lucky if you get him for any math class and consider yourself really lucky to have him teach you. Also, his website is really great, threre is tons of relevant, prev lectures, aides and other usefulness.

Prof. Kuniyuki is super efficient. He starts calling roll the second class starts, maybe even a couple of minutes early. He is CRYSTAL clear. And he knows his stuff inside and out and he's very patient.

What can I say about K. Kuniyuki that hasn?t been said a million times? Basically, he is the superstar of math teachers. His classes are always hard to get into; I?ve only ever made it on the waitlist. He is a hard teacher but very good. GREATEST TEACHER EVER!!!

He's really efficient, concise, helpful, and organized. He throws in a lot of small jokes into his lectures but he talks fast so you don't always catch them. DO THE PRACTICE TESTS. On his website he lets you download the test from the previous year (with solutions) and its 90% similar to the actual test. I Highly recommend the class.

Prof. Kuniyuki, is a math savante. You can tell when he's walking around he's thinking aobut vectors. As far as class goes, he will go OUT OF HIS WAY to help. The class before the test he'll have a Q&A period, when everyone is ready to leave he'll get all sad and say, "I can stay longer if you want." He's insanely brilliant, a genuinely cares.

I can understand why Kuniyuki has so many great comments on this site after taking his class. His teaching method is brilliant; you'll be stunned at how clear and simple he makes calculus. Mesa is ridiculously lucky to have a professor as good as him.

Okay, first off he has all his lecture note and relevant tests on his website. I dare say he can even teach calculus to a rock as long as you pay attention and ask questions you will be fine. His test is basically what he teaches in class refer to his past tests. The test is out of 105 points so there is always a 5 point E.C. Best Math teacher.

Ken is a GREAT professor. I took his 141 class and 150 class. He doesnt use a book, which allows him to really prepare students for the higher level. Go to office hours, do the homework, and last semester practice exams and no reason why you'll do poorly. Truly great professor with a great sense of humor.

I was kind of scared to take Calculus this semester, but Ken is awesome and I'm glad I took it with him. It's not an easy class, but you "reap what you sow". Do the homeworks, practice tests, go to office hours, and get into a good study group, and you'll not only get a good grade, but you'll enjoy the class. I know I did. Thanks Ken!

Mr. Kuniyuki is an amazing teacher. I've been horrible at math all my life but managed to pull an A in statistics. You definitely have to do your homework and study to get an A, but he teaches with precision, making it easy to understand.

Great teacher!!! Do the homework, start doign his old semester practice tests ahead of time not the day of the test, they will help you understand the material better plus they are somewhat similar!! It is not an easy course but he will help you pass!!!

Kuniyuki goes beyond the scope of his position to accommodate students that go to his office hours. Hes a professor/big brother/therapist/ tutor/ homie. He teaches from his online notes. Kuniyuki plays tricks like making exams the opposite or contrapositive of the previous semesters exam, so you have to know the material inside and out.

Kuniyuki's an awesome professor. He cracks jokes and refers to Family Guy and the Simpsons in his problems, making stats a little bit more bearable. He teaches well, notes are all pre-done (you print them out online and bring to class) and he lectures and reviews them. Has great review sessions before a test. If you put in the effort you'll succeed

There is no easy A in calculus, this class is hard but Kuniyuki makes it tolerable and entertaining.

Best math teacher I have ever had. Gets some getting used to at the start but his class is really straight forward. His online notes correspond directly with his in class lectures and makes it really easy to understand. Exams are very fair and if you do the homework then the tests should be easy for you.

Mr Kuniyuki is a very motivated mathematician willing to go beyond the call of duty to help out his students comprehend the math concepts. He makes math clear and easy to follow. He tries to make the class interactive even though some students abuse the privilege.

Very helpful professor.He focuses more on the concepts of stats therefore only scientific calculators were allowed. NO TI-83'!I learned a lot from him and he's pretty funny too. Ken was a fantastic stats teacher. I was nervous before I took the class, but with a lot of hard work (get a study buddy for the hw, its easier that way, especially if you're not mathematically inclined). He is funny, energetic and you will not be bored in class. I highly highly recommend. Just do the hw and study for the tests and you'll get an A.

Never met a professor who loved his subject more. He's fun, light-hearted, and so clear it makes the subject easy. Even my mom, who hates math, took his class and got an A. There is nobody better for Stats!

This guy is a great professor. I highly recommend for any higher level math students. You don't need a book because all of his notes, practice quizzes, and tests from last year are all on his website. You can even use a page of notes on the final. Kuniyuki is a good professor who needs to keep in mind that teachers must not be able to explain the material, but explain it in a way students can understand. Often uses complicated math terminology that confuses students past usual limit and is terrible at answering questions. However tries hard, but just expects too much of students.

Textbook recommended. 4 quizzes(17% each), 1 final(20%), 5 homework sets(8%), participation/random(12%). Gives partial credit on exams. I was terrified about taking this class but I needed it to finish my math requirements in order to transfer. This professor is by far the BEST there is! I got C's on my past three math classes and I got an A with this professor. Now, it is not an easy class, but as long as you do the homework and pay attention, you should be able to pass the class.

Kuniyuki devotes his life to Precalc and Calc. He challenges himself and his students. He uses his own notes that are based on the Swokowski and Larson books. He uses funny phrases to help you remember the techniques (Smackdown rule). An A is easy to get if you study. (Pre)Calculus isnt like your english classes youre going to have to put in work.

i admit his 141 class was very challenging for me and he gives very long challenging homework.His notes help you a little but over all i feel like I improved my math skills alot. he's a good teacher and dont get me wrong there are some errore but i think ken is a great proffessor who will not set you up for failure if you plan to contiue with math.

Kuniyuki is one of the best math teacher that i've ever had. Don't get me wrong, his class is challenging and requires a lot of time to study and finish the hw. Any students taking Kuniyuki, make sure you do the Pre-test because the test will look VERY similar. He puts in some of the hw problems on the test but he wants YOU to learn!

His Pre-Calc class is amazing. I've always been intimidated by high level math classes but he made his class a very satisfying and enjoyable one. Do the homework. It's a lot but it absolutely prepares you for the exams. His office hours are very productive and he's willing to guide and help you understand the material. No books required either.

I almost never write reviews about a professor, but I had to write one for professor Kuniyuki. His homework problems are reflected on the tests. I believe that the way he structured the class is fair. He does write his lecture notes, but all you need to succeed in the class is discussed and learn in lecture. Dedicate time and you'll do well.

Took him again for Calc because of the amazing experience I had with him from Pre-Calc. An absolutely amazing professor. Provides extra clarifications and help with homework to anyone willing to put in the effort of going to his office hours or staying after class. Doing the homework is a must and you absolutely can't fall behind. No book required.

I had him for MATH150. Great guy, VERY knowledgeable. His notes are very thorough; as well as his whole course. I would take him again; highly recommended if you want to really learn the subject (not an easy 'A'). Know your Precal :)

This is the best math teach I've ever had. He isn't easy but he above and beyond to prepare you. He's funny the way he teaches too. Highly recommended for students moving forward in math.

He's a good teacher, but the grading is painful. Hours of homework; but the exams make up about 90% of the overall grade, so god help you if you don't test well. Spends the first few weeks aggressively trying to get students to drop his class and go take refresher courses first; doesn't understand not everyone can spend 7 years getting a degree.

Wow Kuniyuki is actually amazing. His lectures are phenomenal, he has tons of online resources and gives lots of examples, and is always willing to help you out in a pinch. My experience with professor Kuniyuki in spring 2015 was positive. He's lectures are not only clear but they are easy to understand with some knowlede of math. One thing I will say, If you don't do homework, don't expect to pass. Mesa college is lucky to have one of the best mathematician is school!!

Kuniyuki is an amazing professor! He is tough and expects every student to work hard and attand every class meeting. He is fair with grading. People complain about the "massive" amount of homework but in reality it is not that bad and his exams are equally if not less challenging than the hw. I feel well prepared for calc 2.

I took an AP Calculus in high school, about 6 years ago, and my teacher taught very fast. I ended passing the AP test with a 4, but felt like I didn't enjoy the class very much. Kuniyuki explains his material very well and has a full website with his notes. His test are also extremely easy and gives you access to a exam from last semester to study.

Its easy to get A if you do all your homework, but the final exam is little bit hard. Overall, he is great professor.

Best math course I've taken so far. Your grade is based on tests. He truly wants people to understand the material to move on to the next level(s) because he knows how important a good math foundation is for students to succeed in higher level maths. There is a lot of resources on his website that lay down a path to success in his class.

Best Professor I have ever had. Hands down. There is no end to his availability. If you need help you get it no question. All his homework is written by himself and handed out so you wont need the book for problems, and his notes are 8$ at the bookstore and are filled with example problems on how to do the homework.

I wish he would teach upper level classes. I love him. He some how makes this difficult class enjoyable and memorable. He will also respond to emails at ANY HOUR. I mean that. Prof. K was a good choice. His class is challenging, but it's also student friendly. The homework is not that bad, like some say it is. You can pass, but you must work for it. Take advantage of study groups and the tutoring center. He responds to emails almost immediately. He'll even help you find study groups if you ask. Prof. K is awesome!

Don't take him if you are the type of student to slack on homework, as I have seen my fellow classmates suffer because of this. However, if you are willing to work hard, take him! Ken is a REALLY thorough professor. He will provide you a good foundation for higher calc. If you need help, visit him during office hours or usually he'll stay awhile after class. If you do the exam review, you'll do fine on the exam. He is always willing to help. He is very devoted to teaching and helping students. I highly recommend him!

Professor Kuniyki is a great and compassionate teacher. I have some health issues that caused me to miss a fair amount of classes as well as tests, which surprisingly he let me make up. Most professors are strict and unforgiving for test taking delays or misses. Professor Kuniyki cares and goes above and beyond to provide us with relevant info.

He is always willing to help his students and will explain a subject from multiple angles so that you can really grasp the how and why of a concept. Without a doubt the best Math teacher Ive ever had. I wish he was teaching Calc for summer. Ken explains the material well and relates it to MEMEs. Class always had a good vibe. Ken Kuniyuki is the best math professor I have ever had. On the first two tests I got a C because I underestimated his exams. After that, I spent everyday we had class at his office hours for a good two hours or so before class. Do the homework, go to office hours, and definitely do the practice exams, you will get an A, I know I did!

Professor Kuniyuki is very passionate about teaching; he has his own website with his own self put together materials and practice tests ranging from M119 to M255! You don't even need a textbook for his class because of that. He will even work with you after class or even during office hours and will go on to explain it in depth.

His courses are literally world class. Challenging, thorough yet edifying. Has up to date pop culture references in class that are humorous. He is very bright. The course is one of the harder classes I've taken.

Ken is a great Professor, very invested in his students and always willing to help. He can sometimes get a little flustered but hes a good at simplifying the course material. The practice tests MOSTLY mirrors the exam, so make sure you can do those without looking at the HW/notes. No tricks, study and you will do well. 11/10 prof. Would take again.

Best math teacher EVER. I did my homework over again until I really knew it because the exams are basically just like the homework. He is funny, helpful, and always available via office or email and saves you money (cheap non-graphing calculator and no textbook). He really cares about students and wants us to succeed. Ken is an excellent professor. He writes all of his own homework and his lectures are phenomenal. An excellent choice for your first step into calculus. Easily one of my favorite professors at Mesa, and there are many very good professors there. Just a reminder Calculus is challenging, but do his homework and this is an (relatively) easy pass.

After a disappointing shift to online lectures with the COVID-19 pandemic, I was impressed by well-prepared lectures that made the second half of the semester bearable. Professor Kuniyuki is one of the best math professors I have had. He gives a lot of homework and expects you to learn the subject, but it pays off. I really enjoyed taking Ken's class. Because of Covid, the class was completely online. There were no tests, only 6 graded homeworks. He keeps the students engaged during his lectures. He has great office hours, is very helpful, and clearly wants his students to succeed.

Professor Kuniyuki is hilarious during Zoom sessions. Entire grade is based on homework assignments which have answer keys already posted. Easy A, but you can also learn a lot if you watch the Zoom recordings.

Professor Kuniyuki is a great professor! For those wanting to join his class; he doesn't use Canvas. Instead, he offers all his lectures, homework, etc. on his own website, so if you happen to miss a day or two, you can find a lecture for it on his website. He GENUINELY feels passionate about his subject and does his best to help you succeed!

Amazing professor. He's super funny, and you can tell he loves stats! Course was super straightforward, the HW and (optional) practice tests were exactly how the tests/final were structured. He gives you a formula sheet for every test, which is extremely helpful. I would definitely recommend doing the practice tests!

Prof Ken was very sweet, genuinely cares a lot, and wants everyone to succeed! However I found his class to be very homework heavy so make sure to allocate a good chunk of time to do hw if you take his PreCalc in person class! I struggled a lot but I did learn a lot as well and luckily Prof Ken is very accessible if you need any assistance!

He gives you a lot of good resources. Lectures are heavy and fast-paced (he talks rly quickly) but he does a good job of explaining them. There is barely any homework. The exams are easy because he gives you past exams for practice which are identical to the current ones, so you know exactly what the exam is going to look like before taking it.

Professor Kuniyuki is fantastic, he is very accessible outside of class and clearly wants the best for his students. He provides several resources such as video lectures (not mandatory), study guides (not mandatory), and graded homework (mandatory). I recommend utilizing all of the resources he provides to ensure an A. 10/10 would recommend.

He's really enthusiastic and energetic, his lectures are always super interesting and very straightforward. The homework isn't excessive, it just gives practice on exactly what is going to be on the test. The way he teaches makes it so that math isn't a drag.

Prof Ken was very nice, caring and always available to teach (during in office hours)! his class is hw heavy so make you expert in math, make sure to do all hw if you take his PreCalc in person class! also most of exam is from the HW, I struggled a lot, but I did learn a lot as well and luckily all his sources are accessible and organized.

Great guy and a great professor. His lectures are very informative. Homework is graded, but not worth many points, and the answer key is provided. It's mostly to let you practice some problems before the exams.. Previous semester exams are also provided for further study. The exams are reasonably difficult, but if you study a bit, you can get 100%.

This professor know his stuff. I would recommend to take this class if you have time to spend understanding the materials. The test questions are pretty similar to the previous semester test questions so study up before the test. It's fine if you do well on the homework, focusing on acing the test. Don't let the first test discourage you!!!

I took Professor Kuniyuki for the 2024 fall semester. He is a great professor. Stats can be a boring subject, but he makes it interesting. Your grade is this class is heavily dependent on 5 quizzes and each homework is worth 10 points. He provides practice exams similar to the tests and if you can master those, you'll be fine.

best precalc prof you could take. The material itself is hard to learn, we went from over 40 people to around 15 halfway through the semester. But he is so good at teaching, will genuinely help you so much. hw can be long, but you should definitely still do it. practice tests are very similar to real tests. he is also so energetic every class

His character is unique and caught me off guard, but one of my favorite professors by far. You can see his passion for math in his work and teaching, his lectures can be a little quick, but he gives plenty of time in and out of class helping make sure you understand the material. The workload is average, and tests aren't weighted too heavy.

I love Prof. Kuniyuki! His lectures are so funny and I would 100% recommend going to them. They are not mandatory, but they do play a role in your participation grade, which is about 5% of your total grade in the course, so they are mandatory in some sense. Great guy, great teacher always answers your questions and never makes you fell dumb if you don't care for math i wouldn't take this class but instead an easier one but if you are a stem student take this class as long as you try you will be fine.

His teaching style is messy and hard to follow, but the class itself isn't too difficult—even if you're not great at math. The homework and practice exams are the most important. The real exams are basically the same as the practice exams, just with different numbers. The HW and tests are done on paper.
