Good at explain math problem. Made sure we understood everything before moving on. Midterms and exam are ok, but make sure to follow his notes and assignments. One suggestion, speak slowly
Ken is a very enthusiastic and funny. He has some accent, but still ok. Very "beautiful" lecture notes. His midterms and exams are not easy, but straight forward. Many questions are from assignments and handout. Make sure come to every lecture
Very funny and helpful, nice guy! :)
Hilarious professor! Makes stats class just fly by. Yes, he has an accent, and even he will make fun of it, but it is easy to ignore it and focus on the work. He works well with the class, and won't force something to be due if majority of the class has issues with it. Absolutely love him as a prof! Definitely would take him as a prof again.
EXCELLENT
Worst instructor ever! We didn't even go over the equations without minitab. His whole course is on minitab. He was difficult to understand both verbally and written. He even told me and another student to retake the class with a different instructor when we went to him for help in the math center.
Nice guy. His whole course is about Minitab. We only did only little calculation. If you do the review questions, you will be fine.
Very funny. I like the way how Ken taught. Notes are online. He made everything in a simple way and did all complex calculations using Minitab. He also had review sessions before midterm. Review is helpful. I don't understand other student complains him to use Minitab. Does she (or he)want to do everything by hand?
Well, thought the class would have been much better based on the reviews in here, but it was very hard. Ken's english is pretty bad, and I had a hard time understanding him. The tests were also very hard, and he was actually quite rude to a lot of the students. Don't bother buying the textbook as you never use it, only MathXL
I found this class easy, but as long as you take notes and do the assignments there is no reason you won't do well. Ken is a fair marker and gives bonus marks. He has an accent but says everything twice, so you should be able to understand him. Don't buy the textbook. Start mathXL sooner rather than later. In his class, don't worry be happy.
The dude is unclear. He likes to use lots of examples from Calc II and even Calc III (which isn't a pre rec). I struggled in his course. The bright side is that he is in the math centre a lot! He is there to help, but isn't always helpful haha. He's also ESL and has a heavy accent. He can also be insensitive to student's beliefs and understandings.
he is the best teacher ever!!! very funny, give lots of work so we would get the task at hand, never use the text book though. just need the online code.
Kens exams are very hard , it is very hard to get a high mark in the class. He is very funny though, sometimes he is unclear and if he sees one little mistake he will give you like 3 marks off, so marking is very tough.
Ken was a great teacher knows his stuff, he wants everyone to do well but he does expect some to fail. He thinks he's funny which he is he doesn't care if you come to class or not but it is a good idea you can pass this course with him if you study hard!
His midterms are sort of like the practice midterms he puts up on his website. His final is way different so have a good grip of the concepts and you should do fine. Overall, he is a very good teacher and if you need help he has math center hours. Also, keep up with MathXL!
Ay mate this guy's one sick prof eh. Lectures ain't no joke, mans a true lad on the teaching side. All the fun, all the best. x
Ken is great. He provides all his lectures and assignments before class so you can move ahead if you want to, but also give lectures for the whole class. He leaves the lecture videos online so you can always go back and look again - which is supper great. The class is a fast pace and you definitely will need to do the homework.
Ken is an interesting prof. He tries to make jokes that are funny, but really aren't. He doesn't care if you come to class or not, which is nice but also not because you can easily get behind. He is very hard to understand and is a really tough marker. If you get in his class, I would prepare yourself.
1st year uni & was nervous but a great math student always... Hard 2 understand bad language accent barrier he told most of the class to drop out almost everyday If dont get it he gives up on u ask for help and he'd just repeat the question so no real growth use a tutor made fun of people religion jokes plays videos you could stay home & learn more
Ken would often say you dont have to come to class, but youll miss important hints if you dont. He seems lazy, our 2 hour class was only 1 hour and I had to BEG him for a final exam review. He seemed like he wanted to help, but wasnt the best at it. He feels stats isnt really math, it's too easy and cant seem to understand why students may struggle
Ken joked around a lot during class, making fun of students to their face, behind their backs as well as questionable Jesus jokes. His lectures are posted online, replayed in class and homework is expected to be done at home. In class assignments, quizzes and tests have inconsistent wording. Found confusing. Got worse marks towards end of semester.
Ken is an extremely helpful teacher. He tries his best to make classes entertaining as well as making sure his students understand the lectures. He is always available at Math Center, which you could get help from him easily. He gives out reasonable amount of Homework, which are straight from our lectures. I recommend Ken. :)
Ken was hard to understand, he was helpful but confusing. He does not care if you come to class and everything is posted online so you can basically do it from home and just come for the midterms and quizzes. My mark was really high in the beginning and got worse towards the end.
If you don't get at least a B, you should drop out and reconsider your life choices. Best prof. ever. Jesus jokes were hilarious, class always ends early.
He wasn't very easy to understand, and when you asked questions he would often say "don't worry, be happy" and not answer the question. If you are strong in math you would probably like him. But if you aren't maybe another teacher is better. He was nice, but I didn't get much from the course.
don't take his class
Gives lots of material for extra practice which is nice. Tests are almost all of final grade. He's a pretty funny guy so that's a plus. Also you don't need a text book. Tests are kind of hard but not too bad.
If you want a C or low B then be my guest, this is the class for you.
He tries to be funny even though he is a joke himself, marks midterms hard and will give 0 if you miss a few parts and will never give part marks. AVOID
Ken really does a good job of keeping stats entertaining, pretty funny always used the whole lecture time, clear what he wanted and what would be on the test. Don't buy a text book you'll never use it, just show up pay attention, print out the notes (I never did and regretted it). and you'll do fine. Don't worry be happy :)
Ken is a great prof! Lectures are online so you can go over them again if needed. He is also great if you need help. The material all builds on what is learned before the first midterm, so when he says, "drop the course if you failed the midterm," he's not wrong. It's university, be an adult, don't blame the prof if you didn't get an A.
Ken is very loud in lecture and seems to enjoy shouting at people who ask questions, meaning few people do. He doesn't teach, he plays pre-recorded YouTube videos of his previous lectures. Doesn't give grading criteria so you are left guessing. Vaguely offensive topics mentioned in class constantly. Has a very thick accent. Exams are fair.
Hilarious prof, would reccomend. I enjoyed his class. The tests are fairly straight forward, as long as you go to class you should do well.
Ken is a good prof. Ken's lectures are easy to understand and the videos help tremendously. He is able to break down statistical concepts for students to gain a better understanding unlike the last prof I had for stats. He is a fair grader and approachable for asking questions. You should do well as long as you attend class. He's funny too.
Very corky personality, very funny guy, lectures are very easy to understand, tests are very easy and straight forward, all together 4 tests and 1 final exam, tests are worth 12.5% each, and final is 45 % and is very difficult so study hard. Overall Ken is one of the best stat profs at UFV in my overall opinion.
Ken is a very funny guy and makes class super fun! He breaks down his lectures and makes you do in class assignments that help you better understand the material. There is barely any homework assigned! Overall Ken is a great prof, and made Stats 104 very easy for people who are not strong in Math!
REALITY CHECK: NO HW, Tests reasonable, makes class laugh, knows that stats is not life, gives good review to help prep for test, very fair. Stats is tough, he keeps it light, for stats 104 the lecture is short enough where you aren't going to fall asleep and he keeps you engaged. He also knows about "ratemyprof" and shows it off: KEN YOU RULE!!
Ken managed to keep an otherwise incredibly boring class, very interesting. We didn't have a single lecture where we weren't laughing to the point of almost crying. Class expectations are reasonable and with studying a good mark is attainable.
He's fricken hilarious and makes a late class that is stats, less boring
Probably the funniest prof I've had. "Who's your best friend?! Not your girlfriend, not your boyfriend, it's your calculator and Jesus!" Also, all his lectures were on youtube and we literally just watched him mouth along to a video of himself in class so if you skip once and awhile it's not a big deal.
Its a great class, if you show up and listen and do all the examples the tests will be no problem. Ken repeats important ideas many times in lectures so in the test you can remember them. I would for sure recommend taking this class.
Stats is a tough course, and Ken is a tough prof, but he's also a good prof. Good guy, makes lots of jokes. You may find him difficult to understand, but if you listen carefully and ask the right questions you'll get a lot of him. He set me up really well for my next level of stats.
Ken Li is a very difficult person to work with. He uses pre-made slides that's voice recorded to show to class he recycles every semester. He constantly uses very sick humour that can be racist, sexist and pretty offensive to most people, along with hitting on girls frequently. He can be funny but his methods of teaching are difficult to work with.
Ken's hilarious. Very funny and entertaining. Fair professor, hard course. Makes Stats a lot less boring and knows how to keep everyone awake. Teaches off of pre-recorded slides, tests are difficult and does not give any feedback unfortunately. As he's a great guy, his teaching style isn't for everyone.
Teaches of prerecorded slides, shows care for all students, and keeps dry material interesting. However, doesn't provide to many opportunities to correct your own errors. Stat104 was very simple so if you are good with math, he is a great prof.
I can't believe I paid good money to a university to be taught in the manner that Ken taught my class. Ken is pretty inappropriate and offensive. If you want to listen to YouTube lectures twice a week and have to teach yourself the entire class, be my guest.
Although I can't help but agree that Ken's teaching is eccentric at times, he is honestly a good teacher. He gives weekly handouts and review packages before tests. Tests are almost identical to these handouts, so KEEP THEM and study off them . (Also, don't be discouraged by all the nursing students whining about their failing grade in the course)
Very thick language barrier, hugely distracting. Hilarious, but not in a good way. Leaves the most important things out of slides so you have to pay attention, but you cant take him seriously. Not a fan of partial marks, so its all or nothing. Tons of homework for almost no marks. Makes you use online code for homework thats only worth 5% Good Luck
Ken is an amazing prof. He goes over the homework and always makes sure every student is understanding what he's teaching. His lectures are amazing and quite entertaining.
Highly recommend Ken as a stats prof.
you will teach this course to yourself but don't worry be happy
Took his class during the summer and overall it was good. Learn from prerecorded slides but he pauses to go over them. Tests were just like the assignments he would give during class. Would have to attend every class to get the assignment and its shown to him at the beginning of the next class. Final was hard and took almost the whole 3 hrs.
Everything expected for the test is posted in his reviews, however, tests are hard and very long. I found I was rushed to finish them. His slides are a little disorganized and hard to follow. I don't suggest taking Ken if you struggle with math.
Ken has an interesting sense of humor, but he teaches well. His homework and review sheets are similar to the midterms so keep them! I didn't find stats as hard as everyone claims it to be. only complaint is that the webassign and class assignments were not worth much for the final mark, but aside from that, great prof so dont worry be happy
READ THIS! If you're poor in math, I wouldn't advise taking Ken for Stats. You may have a hard time picking up how to do the calculations. Second, he has an interesting teaching method consisting of youtube videos you can't view from home. If you pay attention in class, you should be able to score an easy A! Pay attention, and ask questions!
He's pretty funny. Good lectures. Always makes sure the class understands before moving on in the lecture.
Most of the time Ken doesn't make a lot of sense, but he gives handouts of all the notes. His homework assignments also keep you on track. Kind of wack, but would take again.
Ken's class was overall not too bad. You need to go to class to get the notes, but the assignments were straightforward. Very willing to help and give review to make sure everyone understands the material. Tests were based off review sessions so questions were fair. I didn't buy a textbook, his handouts were enough
Ken is honestly a little weird but is funny and his class material makes sense. He hands out copies of his notes each class so you need to attend to get these, but you DO NOT NEED A TEXTBOOK. don't waste your money. He does lot's of review before test and the tests are basically just the review questions with different numbers. enjoyed his class
Ken is a bit of a unique character, but I really enjoyed his class! It was challenging at times but he spends a lot of time making sure that everyone understands and does lots of review to prepare for tests and exams. Does not use textbook as he thinks it is a waste of money, but provides good handouts that more than make up for this.
Ken majors in math, not because hes good at math but because hes bad at English.
Ken is a really good stats prof. All lectures are straightforward and he gives you handouts of the slides to write notes on. Tests are straightforward and are easy if you go to class.
One of the most organized lecture styles i've had in my university experience. He GIVES you the lecture slides and notes so you don't print them out. No pre class readings, very engaging lectures and always keeps the class discussion going on. Very active learning style for the class, you retain material a lot better. Review questions for exam!!
Had Ken for Stats 106, he is NOT accessible outside of class, if you think you will get an email back from him think again. But he is very chill, he is very fast during the lecture so print the notes. He is funny which is good but when it comes to marking unless you word everything EXACTLY like he wants you won't get the mark. Overall a good prof.
Ken relies on chaos to teach. Don't focus too hard on trusting what he says, because next class it could be something completely different from what he said you would be working on. His tests are fine if you do his review questions, but the marking is absolutely arbitrary and he can't help very well with elaborating on answers. AVOID HIS CLASS!
Ken makes Stats fun. The material can be tough but I always looked forward to the lecture. Do the review questions if you want to do well. He talks fast so printing out your notes is helpful.
Ken is a very funny guy. I have not taken any sort of math since grade 10, and I had to work for my grades, but im doing well. He posts the lecture, but bits are missing therefore you must come to class in order to get those missing pieces.
There were multiple questions on the final that were not covered in the course. I went into the final with an A but ended up failing it pulling my final grade down to a C+. This is a challenging course and he would often get frustrated if students weren't understanding yet he wouldn't tell us what we were doing wrong. Do NOT recommend.
Really enjoyed Ken's class as long as you show up and listen you'll do great. quizzes are the same as the homework and midterms are the same as the quizzes, very consistent professor. would take again.
Ken is a great prof! I wasn't expecting to enjoy stats classes but he is one of my favourite lecturers. He is very funny and while his lectures are fast paced, if you pay attention he covers everything you need for the exams (and gives you the notes in case you miss anything). The course is a lot of work but Ken does a great job!
Ken was by far my favourite professor this semester, he makes what normally would be a boring class into a very enjoyable experience all around. The class itself was fairly easy, as long as you read the notes provided and do all the assigned homework. Don't worry, be happy :)
He makes the usual boring statistics interesting. Class is fast paced but he explains everything which is required for exam. He provides notes but attending class is mamdatory. Class atmosphere is light with his usual humorous side. Attend his class, do given homework and assignments and you are good to go. Will definitely take his class again.
Lectures are amazing. Not a single dull moment in his class the entire semester. Clealy specifies what he wants and how he will grade. Attend class, do homework and assignments then this class is easy. Gives notes but attendance is mandatory. Not a tough grader. Don't worry, be happy and enjoy his class.
He is an awesome teacher. Very fun class. No dull moments. Easy teacher and fairly good marker and is always willing to help. Follow this: DW be happy okay... and you'll do good in this class
Good instructor. Provides good notes, makes to solve problems and asks straight forward questions in the exam.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. NEVER answered emails, NO office hour, and when you ask him to explain something he gets mad because he is trying to breeze through the material because he wants to go home. Will give you marks off for not using EXACT words he used (synonyms don't count). KEN I hope you're reading this, I've never had such a terrible prof.
His English isn't the best but it is good enough to get you through the course. Super funny but some jokes are a little out there so beware. Made this course really easy. Ken is a realistic prof. He started the class by reading his RMP and explained it all. The students IMHO were being hard on him and probably got a bad grade and lashed out on him
One of the best profs I've had! He makes the material interesting with jokes, and breaks it down into a really easy way to understand it. He has a funny personality and I really enjoyed this class.
makes the material as interesting as possible, hilarious!
Ken was the best stats prof I could have taken (and Im garbage at math). He didn't make anyone buy a graphing calculator or textbook. His tests were easy and didn't try to trick you. He didnt make the final required when campus closed due to covid. Ken was very understanding of the situation and made it a priority to help the class out :)
Ken makes stats as easy and enjoyable as possible, his notes are a work of god, and hes a pretty funny guy, takes a little getting used to, and can come across harsh at the start but there is no way this course can be made any easier
Easy class but can be boring. Just do the practise questions and the course will be a breeze. On the other hand ken himself could be disrespectful especially when you ask for help. Just laughs when you ask for help and criticises you for not knowing. Which defeats the purpose of having a prof. Tries too hard to be funny. Easy class.
The final exam was a nightmare. Filled with spelling errors, weird grammar and things we didn't cover in class. Ken would always interrupt me while I was trying to ask a question and this always frustrated me. He goes through lectures as quickly as possible and doesn't listen to students questions
the most hilarious professor I had seen in my life. don't understand what he is explaining. my suggestion never ever takes this professor. wastage of mony and time.
He isn't a bad professor and the notes he gives to the students are so helpful. He actually puts in a lot of effort into making his presentations & teaching the class. However, his midterms & final exams are tough. You need to understand the material FULLY to be able to do well. Overall, he is funny & for the most part, he teaches material clearly.
If you're pretty okay at math/stats - easy class with him. He posts lecture slides and has weekly online assignments, but tests are a breeze if you understand the assignments. He maybe isn't the best teacher if you struggle with math cause he isn't super kind when answering questions - kinda seems like he expects you to know already??
I literally won't ask questions in this class because he is so condescending when he answers you like he expects you to already know the answer. Most of the time I have to relearn the lectures outside of class. His lectures are full of errors but tells you that it's common sense if you correct him. Super rude guy and not worth the time.
Ken li is a really good stats professor and be prepared for some laughs. He is clear and his tests are no surprise from his notes.
Ken was a fun guy to have as a prof but pretty much expected you to be a pro at STATS. His mid terms were not too bad if you fully understood his 40 minute weekly lectures that he talked at about a mile a minute. He is very hard to communicate with online and rarely responds to questions. Overall not bad but would not take his course again.
Great instructor, so far one of my favorites and I learned a lot!
Funny guy for sure and great prof. Yes there is a lot of studying but its stats, cant really avoid studying with any prof. Heavy work load and tests are more on the difficult side but still fair. I'm no math wiz but I still gotta B. Would definitely recommend!
Ken was overall alright but he is super slow to respond to any questions or emails. He also would not give any clear answers to the questions I had. He expects you to know everything already. His answers to most questions is "don't worry be happy".
Interesting class. Goes over material slowly and often too slowly. Lots of review classes. Usually ends class early but gives a webwork assignment at the end of every class. Take him if you typically can understand concepts easily and he is an easy A. If you have questions he isn't really helpful and isn't very considerate
Ken was a great prof! Very straight forward criteria and the exams are exactly what he covers in class, making them very easy to prepare for. He's also funny and allows for a very good amount of time to answer questions.
There are many spelling mistakes and mess ups in his practice exams. I would answer all the questions but could not check if they were correct because he would use completely different numbers. We also had a website called Webwork which always had issues or was down. Also, in class when questions were asked he just said "dont worry be happy"
This professor is funny and often makes fun of himself, he can not make a good test/exam. He works hard on lectures but when the time for exams comes some of his notes contradict his marking. for instance, he made a point in his in-class lecture that "we calculate something if it's both negative or positive". then after an exam said it was wrong.
U should take his class if u understand math VERY VERY well. His lessons are just him reading off his PP's & going thru the Q's he's made. If u ask for help on Q's he will talk down on u & tell u to refer back to his notes. He makes it very clear that he's just there for the paycheque and doesn't genuinely care about his students. Would not rec.
Don't worry be happy
When questions were asked he would always say "Dont worry be happy". He would have webwork assignments once to twice a week. The website was usually down which was annoying. His PPs where long and full of random info. He is a VERY hard grader. On exams i would get Qs right but since i didnt write them EXACTLY how he wanted i got 0. Dont recommend
is funny but a very unfair grader exams-he failed everybody but few Would grade grammar but barely knows it-if it's not exactly how he wanted it's wrong this was a night class would have the homework due the same night He says "don't worry be happy" instead of answering questions doesn't care about the students fights any sort of feedback harshly
Stats is a difficult and content heavy course. Ken provides many examples to help you understand concepts but some things are still abstract so you definitely need to do the reviews as well as assignments to solidify information. Make sure to do reviews as there as can be things in it that were not discussed as much in class but can be on the exam.
His class is very straightforward for the most part; there was just that one time where he threw a curve ball. But despite that, he marks quite fairly and as long as you listen to his lectures and do the assignments. It is not too hard to pass. I would rate him better if he responded to his emails, but other than that he was pretty good.
Ken is an organized prof. Give lots of webwork assignments to complete. he is a tough grader and the test are very tough if you dont understand the concepts.
Say less!! Thank god that I decided to take this class with him, it was the 2nd time I take the class, since the first time was the worst experience I ever had. He makes the materials really short but he makes it easy to understand. He's very chill, but remember, it's stat, there will be a lot of stuff going on, so again still gotta work hard.
He's very overrated; tries to act cool, young genz and keeps saying "don't worry, be happy" everytime you ask anything. Never responds to emails. His assignments and exams are HARD. He is a very tough grader. He pretends he understands students but makes fun when u ask questions and he doesn't care if u fail. i regret taking him.
favourite professor i've ever had, mades stats really easy and fun. his lectures were very engaging, he makes jokes and lectures are very stress free, he gives a lot of time to assignments and will give time in class to answer questions. if you are taking stats 106, take it with him
When you ask him questions, he kinda makes you feel like they are dumb questions or you should know already. He's actually very rude, and never replies to emails. You have to write answers on tests exactly how he wants or he'll mark it a zero. Very hard grader.
Not dedicated at all. Cannot understand a word he says; very poor teacher, but slides are straightforward. Exams are hard, and no time given to do assignments. Insanly hard marker, no structure in the class, and disorganized. This is coming from a non-bias perspective, he is just a bad professor, simply put. Otherwise seems like a nice guy.
Very Unprofessional would come to class late on an exam day even after tht will ask to take 15 min to print the exam Would make mistakes on question paper and slam you for bringing up the issue. his slides are incomplete and completely diff from what he teaches in the class some of them are outdated and he wont even change that even if u ask him
Found Ken Li to be a pretty unprofessional teacher who did not care how you did in his class. It was hard to ask him questions, as he almost never answered what you were asking. Hard exams that he grades very strictly. Stats is a pretty hard course, but having him made it much more difficult.
Honestly stats was very easy, just study the notes and do the review and it is an easy A.
