What a jerk! This guy laughs at students who don't understand what he's teaching. Very arrogant and is not willing to help students understand anything! He expects you to know as much as he does. We don't have degrees yet! HELLO!!
his test were hard but his grading was fair. if you are good at math take this class but if you are not up to speed dont take it he goes pretty fast
he's hard but fair. I learned a lot and I'm not good at math. you have to work for your grade but you'll learn the stuff!
I was in his business calc class and never once saw or heard him laugh at anyone. So whoever wrote that was clearly upset about their grade. He was a great professor and cared about his students - available outside of class and explained things clearly.
Very good teacher, easy going, very clear. He explains things very well and is always willing to answer any questions we have.
I just finished his class. The course can get hard but he is nice & patient. His grading is fair. Ex: The tests are usually 10 questions, if you make a mistake that throws the answer off but otherwise you did it right he only takes off 1-5 points not the entire ten. I would recommend him.
Very fast pace, skips steps in calculating problems that might be helpful steps for us slower learners. Doesn't stick around after class if you need to ask questions. Lots of homework.
he is a great teacher. i had him for int. alg and college and now stat. he is vcery helpful and does give hmwrk but maybe 10 or 15 prob and they are all odds. he grades very good, and does go a little fast but he will be glad to help anyone. i really enjoyed him and got A's!
I think this teacher is a great teacher and I would tell anyone who is scared to take the next step in math to take him. He is somewhat fast paced, but just come to class and ask questions when you don't understand something and you will do just fine. I recieved a "B" in his class and I am taking h
he was a great teacher very fair he explained really well. great teacher
THE BEST, i hate math but this teacher is wonderful, i loved the class and the teacher, i seriously learned something and enjoyed showing up to class he made it fun and i would recomend
Never returns phone calls or e-mails.
Awesome! Very explanitory. He makes it very easy to understand.
I didn't really care for him as a person; he just didn't affect me the way he did everyone else in class, I felt like he didn't like me. But as a professor, he is INCREDIBLY FAIR in grading. Ex. He'll give you points for setting up the equation correctly, even if you got it wrong.
He is a little corky but its all in good fun.
He's amiable, jovial and approchable. Surprisingly, I found myself wanting to attend a math class. Calculates partial credit, available for help sessions and is a prompt grader. Orchastrated a fieldtrip to the St. Augustine Alligator farm for extra credit. Superb professor, I'll take him again. :)
i really liked this teacher, he made math understandable, take him u will learn a lot.
Excellent Teacher! Is very cool and willing to help, tests are 10 questions, gives partial credit. Fast paced, but explains very well. Show up, do your homework, and ask questions if you need to, and you will do well.
after withdrawing from mac1105 twice i thaught there was no help for me. mr. mulzet was that teacher that got me through it. he teaches clear enough that i understood everything well. i will recommend him to any one who struggles with math. thank you mr. mulzet!
This professor is awesome.
Highly recommended. He is an easy going teacher and he never gives you a hard time if you miss his class or if don't understand the exercises. Great way to earn an A and an easy 5 credits!
The course was very challenging for me but with the professor's good teaching style and his willingness to help during off-class hours, I completed the course with a good grade. I highly recommend everyone to take his class/es.
Best math professor I have ever had!!! Always willing to help practive until you get it. Presented information clearly. Extremyl easy to get along with, all around great guy....if desire to do well in this class and aren't a slacker there is no way he'll let you fail...
Ken Mulzet is a fantastic teacher! He is very laid back and makes class entertaining. He's a great guy in general, and I highly recommend him for any math class, his knowledge of math is impressive!
cool guy
Great professor! He is always willing to help and listen to questions. Show up for class and do the homework-the tests are simple if you've kept up with the homework. Class is relatively informal and he's easy to get along with and communicated the subject better than any other math professor I've had.
One of the best professors I have ever had. He goes over everything you need to know, has no problem fully answering all questions, and likes to joke around while teaching. Take this teacher if you can.
I LOVE THIS TEACHER!! I failed INT ALGEBRA twice and was on my final attempt. He made me understand the class. He uses my mathlab which is GREAT for struggling math students because you can do hundreds of practice problems until you understand the lesson. All work, quizzes, and test are online. I wish he would teach evenings so I can take MAC1105.
Class work, quizes and test all done on my math lab program. I dont know why they even have him teaching the class. Always late and on the first day said he doesnt care if you come to class or not its your money, but when people dont he complains about it and talks about the students. Do not recomend.
Very friendly and helpful but sometimes does not return call/email. Would prefer more notes, more step-by-step instruction. Everything is on MyMathLab, which I don't like. MML is very picky and somewhat difficult to use. If you are a math wiz and already know this stuff, then take him for easy A. Don't take if math is not your best subject.
It's a lot of self teaching that's taking place. The work is all online. Mr. Mulzet reads and teaches the same examples you can read on your own with my mathlab. The homework & quizzes are different from the test and it's no telling what you might get on the test. If you are strong in math go for him, if not please don't. I wish I could say better.
He is a easy going guy but he should reconsider his methods...Pros:Nice Guy,Quizzes taken are unlimited, Homework given can be taken numerous times. Cons...Self taught course, Awful teaching style, test can be difficult, no extra credit. If you can get deal with the cons you might be able to pass the course with at least a "B" or "C". Good Luck.
Does not teach, but reads from mylab. Unable to explain or clarify any of the formulas other than the way it is written in mylab. Will mess up your GPA, PLEASE think twice before taking him. Does not use a textbook, but really should.
Awesome teacher! Not boring at all! I aced calculus 1 through 3 purely because of him! Best math teacher I have ever had!
Professor Mulzet is awesome. Took his online class and he was extremely helpful and always answered emails promptly. Everything was done on my MathLab. If you are not good in math then do not take it online but from my personal experience he was super nice and helpful
I was worried about taking statistics but Mr. Mulzet really wants to see everyone do well. Everything is done through Mymathlab and the homeworks are long and tedious. However he does give you a long time to complete the homeworks and quizzes. Overall I think he is a good teacher and would reccommend him.
He's almost always five minutes late to class, but regardless he's a good teacher and tries to help his students learn the material.
Will not allow you to leave class early or after he is done instructing. Passes a roster 5 minutes before class is scheduled to end. Just like high school.
Easy going, fun and will take the time to explain the problems. I would recommend his classes!!
BEST MATH TEACHER! I've never been good at math, but his class was a breeze. Does everything he can to make sure the material is understood. Easy on grading and deadlines, & you even get to replace your lowest test score w/ exam score. You can also leave class when he's done lecturing if your hw is done. TAKE THIS CLASS, you won't regret it!
Online 8 weeks. I am horrible at math and haven't taken a math course in over 4 years. Work on each HW until you get an A. The software has a "help me solve" option on HW. PRINT those out for tests. You can also have HW open during tests so you can figure out how to solve. Make sure you site a reference during each DB - he grades kinda hard on DBs.
Awesome teacher, made everything clear and helped everyone out.
Everything is done through mymathlab. Going to class is such a waste of time. He teaches a lesson by putting problems on the board and standing in the way of what he is writing by the time he moves you forget what he said. A lot of what he teaches in class is not like the homework, you teach yourself by viewing the examples. I would not recommend.
SUCH a sweetie, very helpful if you ask!!
Very unorganized. He taught the wrong lesson, so our test consisted of parts of ch. 1 and ch. 3. He only puts 10 questions on a test and every test had at least one unclear question. 90% of the class got the same question wrong, he will admit he messed up the test but he won't go back and fix it or let us retake it.
I had this professor for both MAT1033 and MGF1106. He is a great professor and really knows his stuff. For those, like me, who are really bad at math, he is very helpful and will take time after class to help and answer your questions. All the work is online except tests. Great professor.
Um... the class was hard. Every question had 5 or more questions to it. Does NOT reply to emails and very unorganized!!!!!!!! UGHHHH
I have taken mac1105 AND MGF1106 with him. After taking two of his classes, the hw is online and so are quizzes. Tests are in class, usually 3 tests with about 15-20 questions. He gives lessons in class and although he passes a roster sheet, attendance is not counted for the grade. Take him!
Horrible professor. Took him for an online class. Had to send him multiple emails to get him to reply. Very unclear. Unorganized. Do not take this professor. Worst professor at FSCJ.
Dr. Mulzet is highly intelligent and a humorous guy but his lectures for Precalc w Trig are TWO hours long with no breaks. By the end of class you'll be running out. He puts in some effort to get students involved in lecture but if you're not ready to listen to him talk and write on the board for 2 hours straight, might want to find another prof.
He is a horrible professor. He does not give out extra credit and he really doesnt care about your GPA; he will mess up your GPA. We only have 4 tests which you need to pass because it is worth 80 percent of your grade. Do not take him.
Great teacher. If you have difficulty with upper level math take this guy. He knows what he is doing and the tutoring lab was a god send too. 4 tests and 1 final. Drops lowest test grade. Final is cumulative over 9 chapters but we jumped around a little. Pay attention and be attentive and he is always there to help you.
He didn't respond to ANY of my e-mails where I asked for help with the material. I struggle with math, and I spent hours upon hours of my own time getting tutoring; absolutely no help or interest in helping me, so it seemed. I busted my butt and still failed.
No attendance policy listed in syllabus, given FN because of 2 missed classes. Had no directions on test, counted 50% off when work was not shown, it was not in the directions to do so, all after withdraw period ended. Did not list which calculators to use, and after the withdraw period was over, announced my calculator was not allowedpoints off.
Ken Mulzet is the best math professor I've ever taken! I took MAC1147 as a way of going straight into Calculus 1 the next semester. He never lectured for more than two hours. He gives homework at the end of every class. His tests were really easy, and he graded leniently. He even drops your lowest test grade. Take him!!
Professor Mulzet was an awesome math teacher! He never lectured the entire class, and the math book we used was super cheap cause HE WROTE IT! The man is really smart and will help you in anyway you need it. Homework is given every class but it is easy and you go over it. He drops the lowest test and the final is mandatory (but it's super easy)
Probably the best math professor I ever had. His lectures are quick and easy to understand. If you do not understand he will take the time to explain it all over. He does not go too much over the homework but is available after class. The tests do not have super complicated problems.
Took his class online and it was the literally the best class I've ever taken. There were two due dates, one in the middle and one at the end of the class. Each time it was about 4 sets of 16 questions, 2 quizzes a practice test and a midterm or final. Everything but the midterm & final could be retaken until you liked your grade. GREAT CLASS!
Honest review from an honest student: I took Mulzet for Mac1105 and was satisfied with him as a professor. As a student who isn't the best at math, Mulzet does a great job teaching. His lectures are based off of our HW assignments so you can work on HW as he lectures. His exams are based off of the HW as well and aren't too difficult.
Oh, Ken. Ken comes to class and puts the online text book on the screen and reads it to you most days. He will solve examples from either the homework or the textbook. There are 32 homework assignments that are short and 3 tests which make up 75% of your grade. Last test grade doubles to replace your worst test grade. Fun times.
If I could this professor a zero I would! He does not care at all if you pass or fail. He was flirting the entire time with one of the students which was just disturbing. Professor Mulzet likes to speak the entire time off topic and does not do well explaining. Could never understand him and also failed the class because it was very confusing.
I was in Professor Mulzet's MGF class this past semester and just noticed what somebody wrote. I don't understand how they could possibly have thought that what they are saying is true. He did NOT flirt with anyone in class! He was funny and knowledgeable, and made the class easy. If you went to class and listened then you would pass.
Took him twice, for college algebra and trig, both online, neither proctored. Classes were easy and straightforward. Definitellllllyyyyyyy recommend if you want an A.
His online class is not a cake walk, but it's definitely do-able. I pretty much taught myself the materiel through the hw (plenty of it) including 3 tests. The third is a cumulative final, but he offers you unlimited amounts of tries. I wouldn't recommend if you can't self teach, but don't get distracted, take notes, do your hw and you'll be fine.
AMAZING! Just took his class over the summer. One of the best decisions I made. The class was 40% hw (meaningful and we review in class) the mid term and final. All of which I passed and felt that more than adequate preparation was given through study guides and reviews before the exam. Brilliant. Ask about his shark tooth collection!
Requires that half the assignments be due halfway through the course, and the other half are due at the end of the course. He really allows you to work at your own pace with no penalty, besides if you're late on submitting the assignments that you've had months to do.
Does not have any material for you to access to learn the material, expects you to learn from elsewhere yet does not provide any suggestions. Does not respond to emails unless you send an extra 2 or 3 follow up emails. Does not post announcements or updates to the class. Does not check the course material for errors unless they are brought up.
All of the work was through pearson and every 4 chapters there is a test and due date. Whole class was TBA and he wasnt really there for help.
I am aware that this class is meant to be self paced, however, this class seemingly does not have a professor. I have attempted to contact this professor during office hours multiple times via, email, office phone, and personal phone and never received any response all semester. This problem is made more severe, as I have learning disabilities, and
Pros: when I took him in Spring 2020, the exams were unproctored and open-internet, though that could've been due to the outbreak of COVID-19, it may not be structured like that anymore. Cons: Professor doesn't really care for his students and just sees being a prof as a boring job. He doesn't respond to emails nor does he help you with questions.
Honestly, this class was what I expected a higher level math class to be. It wasn't overly difficult, and homework assignments varied in length from about 1-2 hrs per lecture. Tests tended to be easier than the homework, on average and he tended to be fair when grading if work was shown.(Would not repeatedly mark you off for errors carried forward)
Great professor, who teaches only what will be on the test. He explains every process meticulously and goes over each question you might have a problem within the homework.
Professor is very helpful if you have any questions or need a little extra help. He will tell you what is going to be on the test so you aren't guessing what might be on there and to be able to practice if you need too.
Exams are not as complex. Lectures are recorded and placed in Canvas. He allows one sheet for formulas that can be used during an exam. Helpful mini videos in MyMathLab. He is ultimately, respectful, and appreciates it in return. Like getting to class on time for exams. Final exam is comprehensive of all chapters but is not too complex.
Be prepared to read and learn math online since he teaches with an online whiteboard. He respects you as a student and is nice, but that's about it. He was helping a classmate after class had ended and some other classmates were talking, and the professor shushed them sternly. I had no issues with anything, but I wouldn't take this class again.
I took him around 2019/2020 (failed 2019 semester), and i never really liked his attitude. He was just rude to students, especially through email, and never seemed to care. You could tell he REALLY HATED this job. Luckily in 2020, due to COVID the class was online and therefore a breeze. But I wouldn't take him in-person.
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. He is very strict and there's a lot of homework
Not the best professor. He reads through the textbook for lectures which doesn't really help me learn. I had to rely on YouTube videos and other outside sources. The tests are not that complex, it's really similar to the quizzes he assigns. ALSO, he gives you little time to study; he finishes "teaching" all the materials 2 days before the test.
I took his online class and honestly it was a bit rough. There are no video lectures so you're basically on your own in this class. Overall his class should be taken by someone proficient in math. You have two options for lessons: read the book, or watch 2 / 2.5 hours worth of videos before tackling the hour long assignment.
Only choose this professor if you hate yourself. He is nonexistent and extremely rude. Be prepared to learn EVERYTHING on your own
Polite and knowledgeable. I really liked the way he taught and answered questions. TONS of homework, but that's how you really learn the material. He records the lectures. Nice long windows the get the work done. It was the hardest class of my semester, but not the professor's fault. I liked him so much, I'm taking Calc 2 with him now.
Online Calculus I was very rough. But I can tell the professor did what he could to help us succeed. The homework was brutal, but the tests were basic and easy. Since it is online, there is no partial credit, so you have to understand it to pass. If you have to take this class, go to the tutoring center at FSCJ to learn and you will pass for sure.
So much homework that barely moves grades but exams with only 10 questions and worth majority of grade
Very up front and knows math so well that he can actually respond to difficult questions. Has a good sense of humor and desires to help out the student.
NO LECTURES. He failed me on a test because the testing center said that the passcode that HE GAVE THEM was not working. He claimed that it didnt require a passcode, which is annoying bc it did to access it!! Then he said THERE'S NOTHIING HE CAN DO ABOUT IT! SAVE YOUR HEARTACHE and take someone else!
Study guides do not look like tests, he is basically non existent the whole semester. This class is entirely self taught and a huge waste of money. I would not recommend this professor to anyone who actually cares about being in college.
Textbook version needs an update. The content will go fast and you may not pick it up right away, but later in the course, the concepts will be easier to understand. Just, don't forget the basics. The homework is a lot, but doable if you space it out and take the time to understand the concepts. Laplace transformations is the easiest topic ever.
Pearson has 5/5 difficulty. :/ Mr. Mulzet follows the Pearson textbook, which is helpful at times, but unfortunately often very hard to follow. So take good notes on his lectures and/or watch the recorded lectures a second time and/or review the notes pngs. He is able to answer questions and explain further on concepts if you ask him during class.
