A live wire in the class and thoroughly enjoyable to that end, but he's a little murky on details and makes occasional gaffes. Also seems a little too eager to embrace whatever notion is academically trendy at the moment. Easy A though.

He jokes around making a care-free laidback environment, but he ain't no joke. He made my head hurt from thinking so much, but I was actually sad to see the class end.

Totally disagree about academic trndiness moreover, he is the person I can identify with more than any other faculty member. He is energetic intelligent and has a general desire to impart knowldge and not have you recite facts.

Don't take sociology at Belmont if you don't take Ken Spring's class. He's amazingly hot and funny.

very interesting guy. he has loads of energy and really got into the subject. my only complaint is that he seemed a bit closed minded. take him if you can though- you will learn a lot and have fun, too.

He is so energetic that he can make any topic seem fascinating. His clases are structured in a unique way where everyone works together and you know what is expected of you. As long as you have an open mind I would recomend all of his classes.

not the easiest grade, but he makes you think. you will learn a TON. he's the most interesting person i've ever met. if you take his class, be sure to visit him just to talk. if you make the effort, so will he.

hilarious at times. be prepared to talk a lot in his class, and be ready to write for essays. He's really nice to look at, and tells you the most entertaining stories about his life. He's facinating, and could quite possibly change your life.

I disagree with the last statement. He's simultaneously intense and laid-back and you can tell he's passionate about what he does. He's certainly not the norm, but he'll make you think. Isn't that what we're here for? I believe he is a teacher first and a sociologist second. Take him while you can!

The best teacher I have ever had. Challenging, honest, creative, inspired, and real. Take his class. Always do your reading. You will learn so much and your faith will develop a lot.

Best Teacher I had in four years. he is more like a student rather than a prof. If you can get him, take him. You will learn tons.

Great teacher. A little hard to follow during his lectures, but somehow at the end it all makes sense. Very cool test-style. Take his class, it will open your mind a bit more than it already is. And isn't that what school is for?

Ken will deffinetly challenge you and make you think thoughts that you never thought were possible. There is a lot of reading but he explains things well and is willing to help anytime you need it. It also helps that he is extremely hot!!!

Passionate. Kind. Brilliant. Humble. If you don't understand, don't assume he knows. ASK, and he'll help you.

Brilliant teacher. Very energetic. This class will make you think about yourself and the world around you. I absolutely recommend it. There is more reading than I prefer, but its worth it. He isn't easy but he isn't hard either.

Ken is a nice guy, fun to hang out with, but I was left with the impression that Sociology is real ****. Ken studied at Naropa, which sounds really impressive when you are a Freshman at this bible beaten hell hole (Belmont).

In an alternate universe, where I was the professor and Ken was the student, I would hope and pray that he signed up for my classes.

Dr. Spring taught me more than I thought he ever would. He cares a lot about his students and their successes. An intelligent man who knows his material as well as how to teach students effectively, he is by far one of the greatest professors I have ever had, and it was a great privilege for me to be a part of his class.

He plays the devil's advocate, which sometimes is missed on students who haven't taken his classes before. He expects a lot from his students, but he'll prepare you for graduate school. I highly recommend his classes, but you will have to know your stuff.

He really knows his stuff. I learned so much from his class. Not all of it made me feel good, the videos are not uppers, but I am glad that I took his class. He is passionate about his work and Belmont, and wants you to succeed.

I heard about Dr. Spring's classes before I took it, but I had no idea how much I would enjoy the class. Dr. Spring is extremely intelligent and his passion for the material shines through when he lectures. He was very busy this semester, but always took time to answer any questions or concerns I had.

His classes always blow my mind. Intelligent, fun, easygoing, for me it was an honor to attend his lectures. Outside of class he always stopped to say hello and chat with me, which really meant a lot. Dr. Spring is a good guy with a good heart and a lot of passion.

Dr. Spring's classes were intense. He created an environment that was open and honest. He is very smart and likes to create situations that force some discomfort, but only to make you more secure in your own ideas as well as the ideas of sociology. He isn't easy, but not necessarily difficult either. You get out of it what you put in.

Great Professor. Knows the subject really well and tries to get you thinking. It's a good amount of reading but you have a grading contract so if you want the A and do all the work, you'll get the A!

Great class!! I took it because I had to for a gen ed requirement, but I loved the class. Dr. Spring's lectures are some of my favorite at Belmont, and I view the world differently after taking his class (in a good way). I just feel more informed and capable of participating.

Dr. Spring is one of the most brilliant men that I have ever had the pleasure of learning from. He has an immense wealth of knowledge, and a practical understanding to follow. He teaches sociology by application, not as much by textbook terms for his 1010 class. Some people like this and others do not. He is very fair and enjoys making you think.

This class is blowing my mind. I have learned so much more than I thought I would. Dr. Spring bings so many examples it can sometimes be overwhelming. He is using grade contracts, so if you do the work, you get the grade you sign up for. There are random quizzes to make you read the text, but they aren't difficult just sort of annoying.Great class.

The content of this class is REALLY difficult, but Dr. Spring's lectures are very helpful. I am enjoying this class. Class attendance isn't mandatory, but he gives daily quizzes so it is sort of mandatory.

Dr. Spring is an amazing professor. His classes are extremely entertaining and interesting. He makes you think and it helps you learn. I am always excited to go to his class. If you read the chapters and study you will do well, the tests are not easy but his lectures are worth it.

He's wonderful! He's an amazing person, and very interesting in class. He gives lectures but they're awesome. Read your text book and take notes on it to study and you're grade will be easy. He's intelligent and entertaining. He always knows what he's talking about and is very into the subject. All around great.

Fantastic person and fantastic professor. If you walk in, you will have your mind broadened about dozens of things. He's hilarious, filled with youthful energy, and very very personable. Tests are tough, beware! READ. THE. TEXTBOOK.

I took him as an 8 week class for Gen Ed requirement of Sociology. His tests were mostly from the book rather than lectures, but his lectures are great, very engaging and hilarious. No homework or papers and all the tests were group, but you need to study for them! I would take him again!

Took him for an 8 week gen ed requirement, and he was AMAZING. It's a four hour class which sounds long, but he's so hilarious and hot it so seems like your in there for only thirty minutes. Most of the test came from the book so if you read you pass. Group tests which make his class even more amazing, no homework, or papers.

Inspiring and easygoing. Really made me challenge the ways I look at some of the companies and systems that run day to day life. Do not take from any other Soc teacher, especially for intro to soc.

I had to tale Intro to Sociology as a gen ed class and I wasn't really looking forward to it. After having Ken Spring as my teacher it was probably one of my favorite classes I have ever taken! His lectures are so interesting. The tests are online and you can take them with the rest of the class. No homework and he's a major hottie. Take him!

LOVE HIM! PLEASE TAKE HIM. He is the best professor that I have had at Belmont. The tests are all group test & he doesn't take attendance. He gives some extra credit. Easy class, but I learned a lot. Loved this class! He is so hip & relevant. do yourself a favor & take this class.

Took him for Intro to Sociology and he is great! Please take him! His tests are open conversation and he gives the opportunity to get 10 points added to your final grade for a volunteering gig which is easy and fun (you work with kids). He also doesn't require you to show up, even though his lecture are super interesting since he's pretty funny.

Ken Spring is without a doubt my favorite professor at Belmont. Relevant, hip, and intriguing lectures. Group tests!! I took this class as a non-major gen-ed class and it has been one of my favorite classes at Belmont in three years.

Dr. Spring is by far one of the best professors I've had at Belmont. Only like 4 tests throughout the semester and he lets you work with the people around you/the entire class. Attendance isn't mandatory but definitely still worth going. His lectures are always relatable and you leave knowing something you didn't beforehand.

Ken Spring inspired me to switch my major to sociology. He is hilarious and probably the coolest human being alive. You're expected to do all reading outside of class and then you'll get lectured on a short amount of it but be tested on all reading assigned. Definitely made me a more independent student. LOVE HIM!!

Dr. Spring is brilliant and it shows through his lectures. Sometimes you'll be an hour into class and think, "where is he going with this?" and then all the sudden, what you thought was a pointless tangent turns into a lesson that sticks with you forever. Truly loved this class and would love to take another one of his classes in the future.

Dr. Spring is extremely passionate and knowledgable on a variety of topics. He made this class relatable and current. I don't plan on taking another Sociology class, but I am glad that I took this class from Dr. Spring and I think I am better equipped for life as a result of it. I will certainly use material from this class in the future.

Ken Spring is awesome. He's a really fun professor that makes Sociology applicable to everyday life. I took his 8 week class, passed with an A. Attendance is not mandatory but you won't do as well if you don't go. All tests are group tests for his intro class so if you do the reading you'll do well no doubt.

I took his 4 hour class for 8 weeks and let me just warn you - he actually takes the 4 hours and doesn't really do breaks. He is probably the most passionate teachers you will ever have though. He gets very into the lectures. I had 3 tests and that's e only grades in the class and they were all group tests so it wasn't super stressful.

I took Ken's 4hr, 8-wk night class for Gen Soc and it was the best! Our grade was only 3 tests but we were able to take them as an entire class, not individually. Don't buy the book, just use the online one w/the class code - WAY cheaper! Attendance not mandatory, but recommended because he puts his lecture examples on the tests. 10/10 TAKE KEN

Ken Spring is the best professor I've had thus far at Belmont. Super passionate. Awesome lectures. Can be a little boring when talking about the material, but he always relates it to real life. He's super chill. His attendance policy isn't strict, but he has benefits if you attend. Group tests make it easier.

BEST professor that I've had at Belmont. Ken is so real and genuine and talks about real life. I only had him for the 8 week intro class, but I wish I could take another class with him. His class is the one that I look forward to going to every week. He is hilarious, never takes attendance, and lets you work in groups on all exams/tests.

Ken Spring has to go down as one of my favorite professors here at Belmont. If you can take his 8-week intro to sociology night class, by all means, do yourself a favor and take it! You won't regret it. The class was always interesting despite it being 4 hours. He really knows how to grab your attention and help you focus in on the discussions. 10/10!

The exams are difficult, but collaborative. He talks very loud and very fast so it's hard to keep up with him, but he's a nice guy.

Ken is by far one of the smartest people I have EVER met!! He is so intensely passionate about soc and it shows every day in class. He wants students to succeed, cares about your personal well-being outside of the classroom, is relatable and kind, and will leave you questioning everything you thought you knew. I can't say enough good things-DO IT!!

This class changed my life. I added this class last minute - didnt know we were gonna watch a movie every week! But the discussions.. hell tell you everything wrong with society in a non-political way and change how you think about your life on earth and what your purpose is. All of this is mainly communicated via movie; the dudes brilliant.

There are really not enough words to describe how lucky I was to take Dr. Spring's class. He is one of the only professors that you will have that genuinely cares about your personal well being as much as he does his assignments. He understands that you have multiple classes so he doesn't overload you with work. Btw, all tests are group test.

Dr. Spring is one of the best (if not the best) in his department. His lectures are always engaging and thought provoking- never a dull moment with him! His intro isn't very difficult, although the YMCA extra credit pretty much guarantees an A. Take him!

MUST TAKE! I had no idea what to expect, but Professor Spring is a 1-in-a-million teacher who understands students and helps you learn in new, effective ways. The 2 tests are taken in collaboration with the class, and the only other grades are 3 reading reflections + an extra credit essay. It's a class you truly look forward to, and he is the best!

HE IS AMAZING! Dr. Spring is the reason I added sociology as a minor. He is so knowledgable and genuinely cares about his student's mental health. He gives a good amount of reading but is not a tough grader at all. 10/10 everybody must take his class!!

Ken Spring is one of those professors who doesn't care about your grades. His whole goal is to connect with you and make sure you learn something. Incredibly inspirational and gives really good advice. Can't recommend him enough

Dr. Spring is TRULY AMAZING. He is so cool and very hipster. His lectures are truly inspiring. He doesn't want you taking notes the entire time, just mainly listening and engaging with him. He is so funny. Only two class assignments and two exams that are able to be taken with a group of people. Does not take attendance but truly a fun class!

Take Dr. Spring. His class is amazing. Period. He is passionate about his work and cares about his students beyond the classroom. I highly recommend taking him.

My advice to students at Belmont, take Ken Spring! I loved this class. I also had him in intro and I wanted to take one more class with him before I graduated. He is super passionate and knowledgeable but also very laid back. Hands down, one of the best at Belmont.

dr spring is awesome! my original sociology professor got sick a few weeks in and he took over the class. i was nervous at first, but he cared a lot about making sure we were on the same page and he made sure not to test us on things we may not have learned. his lectures are amazing, especially his ones on divorce and general economic stuff. 10/10!

I took this class as a gen ed requirement and I learned more in this class than I have in most of my classes at Belmont. If you want powerpoint he is probably not for you, but he comes to class with so much information and at the end of the class he ties it all together. He is clearly very passionate about his work and your learning.

Dr. Spring is absolutely one of the best professors on campus. He is so charismatic and he makes lectures fun and interesting on topics that can otherwise be dull and dense. He cares about his students' wellbeing and is accessible outside of class. I am taking Dr. Spring again and plan on continuing to!

Ken Spring is the best professor at Belmont. I cannot stress enough how enriching and valuable his teaching is. He truly loves and cares about his students and it shows in his teachings. Don't think about it, just take this class!

I took him for fall 2023 semester. The first day I walked in I was a little confused because I didn't know where the lectures were going or how they related to the assignments. After a while everything starts to click, and he makes everything connect. The assignments are not hard, and he is super understanding!

Highly Recommend! He doesn't take attendance, but his lectures make you want to go to class. He combines data (lots of data!) with story telling to help us understand the world we live in. AND he seems to genuinely care about us as people beyond just learning the material. 10 out of 10. Take Ken Spring! You won't regret it.

The coolest guy ever. If you want a professor who actually cares about you as a human being this is the guy.

This man needs a raise! He's so nice and cares about who you are as an individual rather than seeing you as a student below him. He seems sporadic but all of him lectures and points make so much sense. I have never met a professor that changed my thinking until I met him. TAKE HIM!! He's awesome! Also, I took the 8-week class and it was great

The class was easy but hard to digest. Springs lectures are interesting and entertaining to follow and he's very passionate about teaching. He's a very caring person and cares more about you than any paper, quiz, or grade you have. Attendance is not mandatory at all, I missed 2 months and was still able to follow along when I came back to class.

He was amazing!! If I could take one of this classes again I would! He was always energetic, interesting to talk to during breaks, fun and integrated way of teaching. Even though the class was 4hrs long, his teaching and energy made it worth it.

Professor Spring is amazing! His lectures are engaging, and he genuinely cares about student success. The workload is manageable, plus Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for test prep. Highly recommend this class!
