Good Teacher. Lectures are very informative. He's very knowledgeable with the subjects. Do not expect him to be easy though. He demands articulateness and promptness. He expects you to be analytical. If you want to earn your grade, this is the class.

Great teacher. Upbeat and knows his stuff. Expects concise articulate writing. If you're interested in CJ he's the teacher to take, if you're not, take Walsh and you will be!

The class was really interested, he captures your attention and really makes you think. He knows his info and makes you more interested in the subject. Quizzes are minimal and the writing is the only area that some stress over. Take the class you wont regret it!

This is the best professor I had at State. He is hilarious and he is very laid-back. His lectures are great and everyone goes to class because no one wants to miss it. He is a great teacher. The briefs that we had to write were hard though. But other than that it is an easy B+.

This guy is a real kick! His lectures are not only informative but very entertaining. He really gets you to think about the Criminal Justice system, and its good and bad points. The legal briefs are tough, but if you go to him for help, he will give constructive criticism and make sure you understand everything. TAKE THIS TEACHER!!

Ken Walsh is hands-down one of the best professors at State. I found his lectures to be highly entertaining which motivated me to come to class everyday (which happens to be optional) and LEARN. And I learned a whole lot. Definitely recommended.

he is really cool, easy to approach. His class is really interesting, it makes you want to major in CJ. there's one final two quizzes and if you show up to class he gives you the answers. The only thing is that the legal briefs are a little hard.

He is a must for people going into the cj field, or have aspiriations of law school. very approachable and knowledgeable about the subject. I would recoomend buying only the required books, and ask for help with the legal briefs.

Walsh is the man plain and simple. You have to take him if you are in the CJ program. Hes knowledgeable and as a former NYC cop he has credibility. Hes a funny a guy and has great stories. Take him.

Study well for the test though, he is real picky. Not underlining means 0 points! Very helpful though, school related or anything else.

I learned and had fun. He is so animated. He is a great person. I recommend him. he is from NY so he has the NY attitdue which is fun. The class is not hard but there is work to be done but its all interesting becuase he gets you into it.

If possible, even better than 300! Walsh is an incredible lecturer. He is very passionate about the subject, and always has funny stories to go along with it. He will keep you awake, laughing, interested, and learning. I took this class just for fun and am very glad that I did!

Prof. Walsh is a dynamic lecturer, funny, clear, knowledgeable, and gives a great introduction into criminal justice. The class remains interesting, even for a three hour lecture, and Prof. Walsh is very approachable and helpful. I would even recommend this class to non-CJ majors as an elective.

Walsh is an extremely interesting man who brings a lot of character to his class acting out every case as though it were a soap opera. I did not learn much from this class but he was a very approachable professor who offers a lot of review and help for his classwork. There are two short quizzes, two 5 pg legal briefs and one blue book final.

two quizzes stright from the lectures, he drops the lowest score. two legal briefs, go to his office hours for help with these, it improves you grade. a final. the only complaint is that he curses alot. but really funny guy...

This was an amazing class. Prof Walsh is very engaging, pulling you into the work. If you listen carefully to him, you will do fine in the class. He is there to help you, and does everything he can to make sure you do well.

I took CJ300 & 323 with Walsh and enjoyed every minute of it. He is the best professor I have had at San Francisco State. I learned a lot in his classes. His classes aren't very hard if you go to class and do the reading. He is such a funny guy and his lectures are always super interesting. Take him for any class and you won't be sorry!

Definitely an asset to state, engaging teacher, passionate, funny, easy, not a lot of assignments, once again easy A just do the briefs, study for the quiz which he goes over in class, and ask him for help to ensure the A and also a blue book final.

he is a good teacher to communicate with but him communicating back is the problem. i had him for 300 and hated it then i had him for 680 and loved it because it was on your own basis. if you needed help you were able to call him on the cell phone and he didnt trip to hard about late assignments or thorough assignments. I would recommend him

Walsh is the best professor that I have had at SFSU yet!! His lectures are very interesting and the course will open your eyes to different perspectives of the CJ system!

I took CJ 300 and 323 with him this summer got 2 A-. He reminds me of Chavaria from CCSF!!! lol. He is really funny, nice, helpful, informative, knowledgable, and interesting. His classes allow you to LEARN without intense pressure. So if you are a hard worker or lazy you get as much out of his class as YOU WANT TO GET OUT OF IT. Highly recommend.

Ken Walsh is the most amazing, energetic, and intelligent prof I have ever had. I was not a CJ major and took the class for meet a requirement but my life will never be the same. Professor Walsh is critically informative. His developmental and engaging narrative of historical crimianl cases is imaginatively analytical. He lectured to our class with love, care, and ingenuity I have never seen like him my whole life. His humor and lively acts are captivating and inspirational. Will miss his carefree and loving attitude.

Professor Walsh is my hero. I've taken a couple of his classes, and learned so much from him. Also my adviser. He's very informative, interesting, and really just wants the best for his students. I made sure to get to his class at 8am, even though he didn't take attendance. He's a real, down to earth guy (unlike most CJ teachers). WALSH FTW!

Very funny and keeps the class interesting. 2 legal briefs that he pretty much goes over in detail during class so they are easy and 2 quizzes which may be open book/open note and a final. He is extremely helpful during his office hours and will really help you out!

Great instructor. Knows the in's and out's of the criminal justice world. Graded my 680 paper within hours of turning it in. Extremely helpful and he even helped me prepare for the essay months before i signed up for the class. Be sure to keep track of your journal and utilize interviews and polls. A very good contact for networking.

Very Funny and interesting professor. Lectures are long, but time goes by fast since he is quite the story teller. Try and write down everything he says and listen carefully...he'll casually repeat important stuff 2-3 times in in different classes so pay attention!

Though he talks fast, Walsh is a great professor. He's nice, funny, and helpful. He doesn't take attendance but you might want to go to class because all questions and answers on the quizes come from lecture. I used a recorder and it really helps. If you needs help, visit him at his office. he's very helpful. i got an A- w/o doing the field study!

Made legal stuff really interesting, when I first bought the textbook I thought to myself, oh god, it was dense and looked boring. But attending his lectures really helped me understand the text much better. MAKE SURE YOU GO TO CLASS all his quizzes are based off his lectures. Overall a really fun class and went by so quick.

It is an all lecture course, but Walsh made the subject interesting. I actually learned a lot in course which I can't say about most classes. Four 10-20 question quizzes and a field study for the summer session. Great class to take in summer, just make sure to show up to class.

Though a 35 page thesis paper seemed daunting at first, Walsh made the process of writing a thesis paper achievable and easy. Every time I had a question about my paper, Walsh would answer that question with clarity. Walsh, to me, was VERY approachable, and easy to talk to. I wish this professor taught more CJ classes!

I'm not even a Criminal Justice major and this was my favorite class at SFSU. Awesome guy, will even try to help you get a job, good to network with. Took this as my SEG 3 and loved every second. He is so good at telling a story that I almost felt like I was watching a murder thriller on A&E. GET THIS CLASS.

He is the most awesome lecturer you will ever take. Makes incredibly difficult material (Law and Philosophy and History, economics, etc) come alive and entertaining as well! Freakin amzing storyteller when he lectures the case law. Do not miss this teacher, get in his class anyway you can you will not ever forget it! Really.

One of the best professors I´ve ever had. The classes are great, he is a great lecturer and also very funny. All the quizzes are with open notes, but still a lot of people got bad grades. If you attend all the classes you´ll do great, because he makes it clear what is important to know (and will be on the test). Don´t miss this class.

The BEST teacher I have ever had!! His class is incredibly interesting and he's super funny. If your offended by frequent swearing, this is not the class for you. All assignments are straight forward. 3 quizzes + 1 final + 3 short assignments. He's extremely helpful with any thing you need, from internships to assignments.

Professor Walsh is not only a great teacher, but also a great story teller. He knows the detailed facts of all the case laws he assigns and makes the lectures interesting. He is very approachable and is always at his office hours willing to help. Highly recommend to take him.

Walsh is a great professor. Two quizzes were open book/notes. Third quiz was a take home and was optional. Be sure to take really good notes and pay attention. He is picky about the way you answer the questions too. Both of the legal brief may be confusing if you don't pay attention in class, but everything is said in class and isn't took hard.

He is a really good teacher, you need to take quizzes that basically are based on the notes, you also can use your notes in your quizzes and exams. Homework if you don't understand is better to go to the officer hours, he is cool explaining what he wants, he will take time with you, if you show to him for your help, he will help you a lot.

One word: AMAZING!! I seriously wish he taught all the CJ classes. Class is informative and engaging. I recommend him 100%

Wow is all I can say. He's awesome. EXCELLENT lectures, always VERY FUNNY and informative. He ads tons of detail to the case and makes it seem that you're there. As for the class you need 1 book. You MUST take good notes in class because the reading is hard. 3 quizes, one 3-page paper, 1 final. Quizes are challenging but not hard. Easy B class.

He's a really great professor! Definitely one of my favorites here. His lectures are very engaging so you actually want to listen to them, he describes the court cases as if he was there, plus he's really funny and nice! If you're going to take CJ 300 take his class, I really enjoyed it!

Amazing teacher, best one out there. He is a hard grader, but hey, he lets you do open notes and OPEN TEXTBOOK test. Also you can do the papers with groups and some exams are even take-homes. His lectures are by far the best. I never take out my phone while he is lecturing, because I'm too busy dying of laughter. He basically acts out everything.

incredible lectures extremely entertaining and informative, you learn soooo much more than anything you can expect! a gifted actor and story teller, has you on the edge of your seat all the time. you hate if you have to miss even one single class. He is always in his office hrs too when you go see him and treats you like an equal. Love this man!!!

Professor Walsh is a pretty chill guy. If you show up to class, you probably don't need to do any of the reading. He had about 3 quizzes which were given randomly throughout the semester. Along with that, there was also two briefs and the field study. All in all, this was a fun class to attend. Professor tells good stories, which is a bonus.

For CJ400, it's a pretty fun class. He gives about 4 or 5 take home tests that we go over in class. He's great with relating his past experiences with the subject. Gives great advice! Always very engaging and funny. He teaches this class different from CJ300. I highly recommend Walsh!

Professor Walsh is awesome!! He draws from experience when talking about cases and he is very animated. You should definitely read the cases, but he does go over many of them in class. For the briefs, if you see him during office hours he will give you great feedback, highly recommend going to see him. Overall just a great professor.

I took Walsh's CJ 400 course over the summer, and it was incredibly easy! The class consisted of 3 take home tests and 1 take home final! Walsh is an amazing professor, his lectures are hilarious and you can tell that he really cares about his students. He is extremely knowledgeable about the criminal justice system and speaks from experience.

Absolute favorite professor I have ever had! He is a critical thinker and expects the same of his students. He is clear in his stance but open to healthy debate. He does not subscribe to popular thought, but rather what is meaningful and what will gain true knowledge & understanding. Not another run of the mill liberal hippy on a platform at SFSU.

Loved this guy! You do have to put in the work to pass but he makes everything clear. Quizzes are based on his lecture so make sure to take notes. Can't think of anything negative about this teacher. One of the best!

He is one of my favorite professors I have ever had! His lectures are interesting, funny, informative and he is very clear on assignments. He is also super inspiring. Honestly, as long as you take good notes and actually try, you will do just fine! HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!

3 quizzes and a final. As well as 2 case reviews that you turn in. Basically just sit and take notes on his lecture. Office hours are great and he is very easy to like and understand. Great guy and sometimes goes off on old police stories. Don't miss class he won't care but you'll need the notes. Very easy grader. Lots of books, worth it though.

Lectures are pretty long with no break, but worth it because he has lots to say that is actually relevant to the class even though it seems like a tangent. He will go over your work with you as many times as you need it until you are squared away. Overall, I would say Mr. Walsh is a great teacher.

Professor Walsh is AMAZING! I have taken CJ 300 and CJ 400 with him, and I must say that those have been my favorite classes at SFSU. For CJ 300, it consists of 2 Case Briefs, 3-4 take home quizzes, a field study paper at the very end of the semester, and a response final exam. Walsh is a great story teller and helps you picture the cases. TAKE!!!!

Professor Walsh is honestly a wonderful CJ 300 lecturer. Even though he rambles sometimes but the way how he lectures the cases you get the feeling as if you were there. The class WAS REALLY EASY. 3 easy quizzes 1 on campus, 2 take-homes, 2 Case-briefs and analysis, and one writing finally. You won't regret taking him.

Absolutely best teacher thus far! He provides students with facts and refrains from influencing or skewing our ways of thinking. Huge on independent and critical thinking. Be sure to attend ALL classes as this will help you pass with flying colors.
