She is very helpful for such a large class, and very clear. Its not an easy class with any professor, but she makes it alot easier to understand.

Kilmer's lectures are easy to follow and understand, but she grades very hard on the exams and would deduct points for little things, perfectionist. She is though very helpful during office hours.
Basically all the quizes and test problems come form suggested homework
you have to go to class everyday to take notes, just study notes and go to week in review
She acts like she's teaching elementary school, she will call you out in class if you're using your cell phone. Easy to understand and tests weren't too difficult.
Very helpful!
She explains things carefully and is easy :)
This prof is easy. She explains everything very well and is very clear. She doesn't give out a lot of homework like other teachers. She also has her notes online and pretty you just have to study those to make an A. Pretty much students come out with an A or a B in this class.
Very understanding
VERY helpful. She is passionate about this subject and is willing to help. She does give a lot of homework but it's not bad and it's all really helpful. She is very easy to understand. Her tests arent too difficult as long as you pay attention in class. If you are interested in taking Math141, I suggest you take Kilmer!(:
She is the greatest math teacher I have ever had. She makes a lot of sense and is very concise. I do the suggested homework along with the required assignments and easily make an A. Tests are multiple choice and T/F. I thought I wasn't a math person but she turned me into one.
She does an excellent job of presenting the information in a way that is clear and will make sense to everyone. She is also open to questions during lecture and really wants her students to learn. Also, she holds week-in-reviews that are super helpful.
Very nice and very approachable. Creates notes for students and presents the information very well. She provides multiple ways to help students improve their grades through office hours, TA hours, help sessions, extra homework sets, and week-in-reviews. Tests were pretty easy. She grades fairly. I got As on all of my tests.
Awesome professor! I have always hated math but left this class feeling accomplished because I understood the concepts. Kilmer is great at teaching and at making things clear. Do the homework and go to the review sessions! The notes basically replace the textbook, though, so just buy an older edition.
The test are hard. I struggled and wished I could drop the class.
Very difficult course. Sweet teacher and very helpful if you go to her office hours. The tests are all multiple choice but that makes it a little trickier, I would have done better if she gave partial credit which she does not. Overall the class is definitely do-able if you pick up on math quickly but If your like me this class is going to be tough.
I took Kendra this last semester and she is AMAZING. I just breezed through high school math, and realized that I truly did not understand math. I would recommend her class to anyone taking math 141. She works extremely hard to put grades in on a timely manner and is pleasant in class. But she is a stickler about cell phones. She will call you out!
She is a very good professor and provides many different types of help to students! Attendance isn't mandatory but if you miss one day and don't get the notes, you're screwed. The class is very hard but she helps as much as she can!
Kilmer is the prof to take for 141. The material is relatively easy. BUT you have to make sure you listen and go to class. And for the love of all that is Maroon and White do the highly suggested homework! It's a lot sometimes but it's super helpful, especially if you struggle in math. She covers a ton of material in one class so make sure you go!
I loved Dr. Kilmer! Ive heard shes the best math prof there and I would agree. I took an 8am just so I could have her, but it was worth it! She gives online and handout homework, but they really do help. The tests are difficult, but if you understand the hw youll do fine. GO TO CLASS and office hours, she'll take that into consideration end of term
I heard that Mrs. Kilmer was the best MATH 141 professor to take but I was still so nervous since I struggle with math. I went to her TA hours daily for help with homework, and worked all of her "Highly Recommended Problems" on each section. Just do everything she says and you really will be just fine!
Ton of homework that isn't relevant to what is actually on the test but the homework helps your grade out. Tests are hard and rarely curved so they require a deep understanding of every subject. I put in a decent amount of effort and got a B.
The test are hard. I struggled and wished I could drop the class. I will probably retake this course during the summer.
Ms. Kilmer was a very sweet lady. She talks VERY fast in lecture and class is huge so she usually doesn't stop to answer questions. If you go to all the extra review sessions, you will do great. She doesn't do extra credit or help you out with your grade. There is a ton of homework+assignments+studying to do.
Don't take this class if you have other difficult ones the same semester. Idk if it was just a bad one, but this semester every lecture was rushed. Kilmer knows her stuff, and puts tricky questions to see if you do. Yep, she's THAT prof. Makes it way more complicated than it has to be. I'm pretty good in math, and I don't think I passed this class.
Go to class. Pay attention. Do your homework and make sure you understand it so you can answer questions similar to it on the test. You pass. Probably with an A. And definitely at least a B.
Kilmer is a great teacher. She does go rather fast in class but if you have a general knowledge of mathcalculus you can for sure keep up. Her tests are not easy, but they are fair. If you review your old turn in homeworks and group quizzes you should do fine on the tests. I would recommend her. I made an A, so can you!
If you need to take 142 or 141 take Kilmer. Any one who gave a bad review didn't try in this class. No matter who you take for math it isn't going to be easy. She really genuinely cares about your success in her class. Go to her office hours and her TAs hours. Do well on the homework and it will boost you a letter grade. TAKE KILMER.
If you go to class, take notes, and do practice problems you should be fine. Notes are fairly straight forward. Always go to class after the exam day. She tends to take pop attendance for daily grades or curve points.
I took the Honors section of Math 141, and it was probably one of my worst academic decisions ever. Professor Kilmer was willing to help if you asked for it, but sometimes it was impossible to determine that you even needed any help - until you had already taken the test. She does in-class reviews, which are really helpful.
So glad to have this class behind me!!!! Kilmer's lectures are clear but insanely monotonous and I struggled not to fall asleep every day. She'll start a new problem a minute before class ends which was so annoying. Tests are tough but doable, just GO TO CLASS and keep up with your homework... you'll do fine. I'd take her again if I had to
Not a terrible experience. Not an easy class, but also very manageable, just be prepared to put in the work and time practicing, and it's a lot of time practicing if you want to make an A. She is a very good and clear teacher, not confusing at all, but it does move very fast so you need to practice on your own to succeed.
Kendra is a nice lady but the class is VERY difficult. I don't recommend her for 141 unless you are a genius.
This is a tough, but not impossible, calculus class. Kilmer is a tough grader. The tests and Daily Grade assignments are much harder than our in class work and our homework (which there is a lot of). Also, she is extremely hard to listen to. The class is very monotonous and she keeps talking until several minutes after class is supposed to end.
I took this professor because I read good reviews about her, but I found it extremely hard to enjoy this class. It was a very unwelcoming atmosphere, she never smiled and always seemed mad. Also, the tests are extremely difficult, especially compared to the homework.
Everyone here says she talks really fast, for me at least, her lectures moved verry sloowly. But you MUST go to class to pass. Dont bother buying the textbook. If you want to do the "highly suggested homework" from the book, theres an online copy on Webassign. Not an easy class, but not impossible!
Was not a friendly person. When I asked questions or was in her office hours she often made me feel like I was stupid. She knows what she's talking about, but not very kind or helpful.
She is fair, but the tests are a lot harder than what she instructs. You do a lot of online homework and take home assignments.
Kilmer is an uptight lady and is pretty picky -- assigns seats, likes things done in a certain way. She will call you out if you are talking or on you phone. She has lots of help available which is nice but her tests are usually more difficult than the lectures. Do the extra practice problems and you should do well.
Her class can be boring, but she works really fast. Her notes are very useful. Do her old week in review problems and take home assignments before test.
Awful. I took 141 with her, and it was the worst class I've taken here. Lectures are incredibly boring, go over time, and her microphone never works. Tests are very difficult. Expect HOURS of HW each week. Not understanding at all - a family member passed away tragically, I missed 4 wks and had to take the exam 2 days later. Passive agressive
Kilmer really knows what she's talking about, but expects you to understand it as in depth as she does. Her tests are very difficult and her homework is easy compared to the tests. She's not very engaging and an hour and fifteen minute lecture can get boring. You have to go to class, or you will get very behind
I actually really enjoyed math with Professor Kilmer. She teaches with thorough examples and I was able to pick up on concept fairly easily. If you did struggle though (which I did on certain aspects), GO TO HER TUTORIAL ASSISTANT HOURS! She had two TA's and they were always so willing to help and had ideas on how to get me to grasp concepts!
If you struggled with math you will more than likely struggle with this course but Kilmer made it easier to understand. At times she can go fast during her lecture but overall was a great teacher. I know other friends that took the same course with different instructors and struggled until I helped them through her methods. TA's are super helpful.
worst teacher in the world. her notes were nothing like the problems on the homework. She talks the entire class and never allows you to solve problems on your own until the day of the exam.
Kendra Kilmer is an amazing professor. She cares about her students and wants them to do well. Expect help but do not expect her to curve anything. The first test is easy but they gradually get more difficult. Do the online homework.
Long lectures that always went over time. She always seemed to be in a bad mood and made the concepts way more confusing than they had to be. She definitely always taught the most difficult methods to use when solving problems. Assigns WAY too much homework. She also calls people out in class for being on their phone. DO NOT TAKE HER
Kilmer was a great teacher. Math 141 is a tough class, but I think She helps as much as she can. Her notes are clear but don't always help for the test. Go to Week In Reviews if at all possible. Also there are quizzes the class before every test that you can work with a partner on, but they are tricky and you have limited time to complete them.
If you must take Math 142 at A&M, she is the teacher you want. That being said, this is the only B I've made in college (Made a 97 in 141). Her class is really tough. If math isn't your natural born gift, get ready to work overly hard. This class took up all my time. Web-assign HW is long & gives out written HW too. Take her, but beware of 142.
This class was the hardest class I have taken at A&M and it was all I could do to get a D in the class. There is a ton of homework and you must go to week-in-reviews and help sessions in order to even almost pass.
Although this was a tough course Kilmer is one of the best! With all of the available help there is no reason why anyone can not pass this class. I made a 50 on the first test and was able to bring my grade up to a B. The amount of time you have to dedicate to the online and take home work is a lot but that is to be expected in a math course.
Kilmer is by far a great professor! The course is difficult but she is very good at lecturing and explaining her grading criteria. Go to class or you can expect to drop a letter grade on your tests! I think she's the best math prof for 141 & 142 so I highly recommend her. Expect alot of homework, but that's a given for math!
She expects you to know a vast majority of the intro material and claims you'll fail the class if you don't. she goes extremely fast and even when explaining things, its even more unclear and confusing. there are no curves on the tests and 4 homework assignments per week, so its demanding. if you're a slow learner with math, consider someone else.
Kendra gives lots of opportunities for help but her work load is insane. 3 webassigns and 1 daily grade worksheet per week, along with 3 tests and in class review quizzes. Tests are hard but final is decent. Lectures are long & her voice/language choice gets annoying but her note outlines are good. Decent prof but very sarcastic & I found her rude.
easy class if you actually pay attention. do the suggested homework as a review before the tests and you'll be fine. don't skip
maybe i'm just terrible at math, but kilmer doesn't really do anything to make it better. she's trying to teach us the information, but she doesn't cover a lot of what actually ends up on the tests, and expects you to basically already know how to do a lot of it.
She goes very fast in class and does not give time to take notes. Went to office hours all the time and she barely answered any questions. Would not recommend
I have never failed a class in my life, but this one I am failing hard. I took 3 days where I studied for 9 hours straight for my exam each day. I reached out to every resource given to the students and still managed to fail miserably. She goes way to fast and the notes do not correlate to the tests.
Although the woman insists on everything being to a T, she is a great prof who is hella organized. If you take notes from her print offs and do the online homework, you are set. You will work for the A but it's definitely able to attain.
Overall, Kilmer was a good professor. She can go fast sometimes, and the problems in lectures are a lot less difficult than the problems on the exams. I went to office hours every week and the TA's were very helpful. Do the homework and practice problems and you will be fine for the exams.
I always deemed myself good at math until I took this class; I also had to drop this class because the prof thinks its funny to do super easy problems as examples and HOMEWORK, but starts twisting the screws on tests. Literally had a set theorem as long as the page is wide. Anyway, she's smart and hot but is a terrible teacher. Be wary out there
Test are WAY harder than the HW, practice, and example problems, they're basically critical thinking, she puts trick true or false questions on the tests (SERIOUSLY?! Who makes half of a MATH test T or F questions) 3 sets of HW problems a week but are usually easy compared to the tests and you only have 4 so you HAVE to do good! I dropped the class
most organized and "makes you work for it" prof. didn't study for the first test (thought it was simple) and i got a 65. questions are harder than homework problems but she has so many available resources like TAs, review problems, and book problems to help out. got 95s on my following tests. time&effort is reflected. recommend studying her WIRs.
take math 141 at community college. don't even try to take it at TAMU, especially with kilmer. she doesn't give any extra credit, and she has the hardest math 141 course. i'm nota math person, but this was another level of difficulty
She is SO hard. Please, if you care about yourself, don't take Math 141 at A&M unless you have to. If you have to, take it with SOMEONE ELSE! She is ridiculously hard when it comes to exams. This class really kicked my butt.
One of the more difficult 141 teachers, but she was one of the best. She provides multiple resources where students can get help or find extra practice problems. She explains the notes and wants you to succeed. The homework brings up your average. I received an A easily and studied about 3 hrs per exam. Group quiz every class before each test.
She is very lecture heavy and it is quite hard to find her outside of class, does not curve and tests are hard
Worst teacher I have ever had in my entire life. Do not take her! She goes super fast in lecture and will not help you after class or in office hours. She gives a lot of homework and her tests are nothing like the lectures.
She the worst teacher I have ever had. She'll give the easiest problems for homework and the test will be the hardest thing you've ever seen.
She WILL help you if you go to her office hours. Keep in mind that help doesn't mean give-you-the-answers-to-homework. She expects you to practice and do what you can before you go to her. Overall I would say she has pretty high expectations for her students so be prepared to dedicate some time for this class. BTW she's a bit monotone with lectures
She is HARDEST math 141 professor at A&M. I do not like the way she teaches because she goes out of her way to over explain things, which just confused me more. She doesn't curve or offer any extra credit. Tests are extremely difficult. I didn't learn well from her at all and I received the grade I did from help with outside tutoring.
This class wasn't a bad experience, just was harder than it needed to be. Tests were pretty difficult, but not impossible by any means. You move at a quick pace and it is a lot of learning outside of class. Overall not bad, but not the easiest class. If you are looking for a challenge that is also practical, this is a good professor to take.
Professor Kilmer is a professor that cares a lot about her students, I think she is a great person however I don't believe that she is a good teacher just because she isn't very good at explaining herself. I personally would not take her again. Some of my class mates liked her so maybe you will also.
She really cares about her students. There's so many tutorials available... so go. The homework isn't mandatory but highly suggested (it helps). If you wanna skip class a couple times you can but don't expect to pass if you skip all the time. Class starts out easy but picks up don't under estimate it.
This class was soooo hard! I spent countless hours studying and doing homework each day, and still could not do well in her class. I thought I was good at math, until this class. The tests are way harder than the homework. Check out the free tutoring on campus. That is the only way I passed. Her class gave me really bad anxiety.
Tests are multiple choice and true/false. Questions are worded weirdly & are tricky. Must study to fully understand what is going on & even then it's confusing. LOTS of online homework and group quizzes before every exam that DO NOT prepare you for the exam! STAY OFF YOUR PHONE she will call you out in a lecture hall of more than a hundred people.
I found her class mundane but I also took it at 8am. She genuinely cares about her students but she has so many of them it's difficult for her to meet face-to-face with them. If you take this class, study hard for the tests and, if possible, STUDY TESTS FROM PAST YEARS; it is your best shot at getting an A in the class.
I had Math 141 at 8am and I hated myself a little bit for thinking it was a good idea. If you miss one class you're lost. Go to 4.0 and go or something. The test reviews help a lot. Overall she just made certain concepts way harder than they needed to be. I decided not to take math 142 with her this semester.
She goes very fast and if you don't have a background in calculus, you will struggle. She doesn't explain things very thoroughly and her tests are very hard. She doesn't curve the tests. She is just very fast paced and rushes near the end of class to try to finish the lesson. This is one of the hardest classes I've taken so far.
Worst Math 141 teacher. This class is stupid in general but she makes it even more stupid. Tests were harder than needed to be. She was also not very helpful. I ended with an 89 and she would not bump me up to an A. No just No.
If you have taken a calc class before, this class will be a breeze. If not, it can be quite the challenge. Kilmer cares a lot about her students and is very good at explaining things. At the end of the day she is a solid professor that teaches well. I would not hesitate to take a class taught by her again.
Kilmer is a pretty good prof who is very lecture heavy and makes you do a lot of homework. She's good at explaining things, but often homework is harder than exams. Office hours can be very helpful. Overall good prof, but wouldn't take again if I didn't have too.
Mrs. Kilmer is an okay prof. Her class definitely sounds easy when you read the syllabus, but it got difficult after the first test was over. Not much graded homework, so you have to work the extra problems if you actually want to prepare yourself for the tests. Also, the final was much more difficult than the exams, which felt pretty unfair.
No extra credit or curves on exams. The class is straight lecture all semester. Exams pretty difficult, homework and in class assignments do not prepare you for the exam. She never told students the averages the exams, probably because they were not good. WebAssign each week, which is expected of math, but often times we did not cover material.
Ms. Kilmer is a very good teacher despite her Rate My Professor rating. She doesn't require attendance, however if you simply go to class and take notes on the handouts she kindly puts online, you should be successful in her class. She has a group quiz before every test and 75% of it is a participation grade. Study because tests are far apart.
A 3.4 is a very generous grade. Kendra is not a good teacher. She goes so slow on basic algebra, yet speeds through all the calculus. Her test are too long for the time given. Also her true or false are ridiculous. Do not take her if you actually want to learn or get a good grade.
Mrs. Kilmer is great. Her lectures are a bit monotonous but she goes step-by-step through all the material. If you have struggled in math before (I have) and need a good professor who takes their time, take her class. She makes guided notes and gives an in-class quiz before each test and they are VERY similar. Go to class and you will be covered!
This class is way too complicated for what it is. While she does give us notes to copy, the lectures don't do well in preparing you for the test. There is a lot of homework, which is expected of a math class, but the homework does not compare to how difficult the tests are. The kids who have previously taken a calc class have made decent grades.
Kilmer is GREAT!! I did take Calculus in high school which could have had something to do with how easy it was but as long as you pay attention you will do great! She has online homework on WebAssign due once a week. Which isn't hard if you work on it after she goes over the notes. 3Exams 1Final
Kilmer was the worst prof I've ever had. She didn't teach us anything, she would read over notes that didn't correlate to the tests. If you would ask her for help she was very vague and didn't care if you understood or not. People with other professors all had A's and most people with Kilmer were struggling to even pass.
I took Kilmer for Math 141 and 142 because even though she's really tough on students, she teaches very well. If you pay attention, study ALOT, and do all the homework it is completely possible to make an A in both.
Prof. Kilmer teaches the class well, but you have to show up for most classes otherwise you will do poorly. The online homework isn't the most useful or helpful, but she provides a LOT of resources to help you out in studying for the tests. She has this weird thing where she will call you out if you have a visible phone, so don't be on it in class.
Kilmer goes slowly to ensure that you are understanding what she says and even asks for questions. So despite what people say if you actually listen you should do well in her class. She tends to try to prove to you why a certain problem is that way. She wants to make sure her students understand and offers many types of outside help!!
Hardest math class I've ever taken. She lectures way to fast in class, and gives homework that does not correlate to tests at all. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you don't go it is easy to get behind on material.
Very boring but not a bad prof. She goes very slowly which makes it easier to understand. Tests can be tricky but not awful. Honestly doesn't do a great job answering questions, but reminds students EVERY LECTURE of all available outside help. She is very monotonous, not much personality, but not a bad teacher. But not a great one either.
She goes through materials slowly to ensure everyone understands. It can be a little boring at times, but if you just go to class it's easy to get the material. She's very accessible outside of class, and her tests are pretty straightforward. Just put in a little effort and you'll be fine.
Professor Kilmer is WONDERFUL for Math 140! She did the Week-In-Reviews for the subject as well, so those were a definitive plus before a test since she makes both of them. She posts fill-in notes for you to take for class on eCampus and gives plenty of examples to follow! The tests are fair & understandable as long as you've done your hw & review
I took this material in high school and and got an A+, professor Kilmer made an easy subject hard and confusing. Her tests tried to trick you more than they tested you on math. Who puts true or false questions on a math test?! She went too slow on the easy stuff like addition and blazed through the complex math. Overall would not take again.
Professor Kilmer is a great prof! She goes slowly through the notes and answers any student questions. She has so many tutorial opportunities and resources to get help. She is caring and understanding. I would definitely take her again, if I had to take another math class
She is great at answering any questions you may have and even seems to go out of her way to help you understand. However, the class is very test heavy so make sure you understand the material fully beforehand.
Her pacing of the material felt a little slow, but her tests seemed on par in terms of difficulty with her in class examples. There weren't any curves, but the online homework was set up to give you a good amount of free points if you took the time to do them. She answered questions clearly, and had lots of opportunities for outside help.
Kilmer was a really good professor. She explains the material very well, and her tests were the same material that we learned in class. She gives plenty of opportunities for help!! I would recommend her.
Her tests are multiple choice and true/false. No partial credit is given.
If you have taken pre cal in high school, this class should be easy for you. If you don't understand something, she is willing to answer your questions in class. Because of this, her lectures can go slow due to so many questions. Overall, she is a kind lady who really cares about her students and I would for sure take her again.
She is not as bad as people say. If you go to class and get good grades in the webassign homework (which give you 6 tries to get the right answer) I would be surprised if you get anything below a B.
Solid prof. Very clear on the material and explains everything in depth. Sometimes can be boring but overall if you just listen in class and take good notes (which she prints off for you), you'll do fine.
Kilmer was a really good prof. Although math140 is supposed to be really easy, some of the material was challenging. She really made me understand and genuinely cares for her students. As long as you show up to class, do the web assigns, and study for exams, you should be fine.
While it's not gonna be easy for those who aren't perfect at math, with effort everyone can do well. A lot of times the homework is very hard & doesn't really correspond with the test which is odd. The notes & group assignment before every test is what you should study to pass. Attendance(notes), study groups, & week in review are necessary to pass
She is a very good professor, and it is clear she cares about her students. I just didn't like her class because of the amount of homework she assigns each week. 35-40 problems a week is a bit much for any full time college student. If you can handle that much homework on top of your other classes then I completely recommend her!
I loved Mrs. Kilmer! I came into this class dreading it but she made this class enjoyable. There is a lot of homework so be prepared for that. I thought her tests were super easy but I also did a lot of studying. Go to her week-in reviews and if you can't, study those for the tests. Mrs. Kilmer is such a great and caring teacher! Take her for 142!
i took math 140 with a different prof last semester and got an A, but kilmer makes 142 WAY harder than it should be. My friends who had taken it before were able to teach me the lessons better in 30min than she could in 4 lectures. DO NOT TAKE HER
She is one of the worst professors I have ever had. Attendance is "optional" but she has small quizzes each day that make it very important to be in class. He homework assignments do not pertain in any way to her test and as a result, make it very hard to score well. The worst professor I have had in college so far!
I've taken several math course of all levels of difficulty but this class killed me. She overcomplicates the problems which make set confusing to learn how to actually find the solution. She goes over distribution for half the class then plows through new stuff in minutes. The TA was straight rude the lectures are difficult to sit through.
I have taken calculus before in HS and got an A every semester. This class was very difficult. The week in reviews help but when the test came it felt impossible. She curved one of the tests by 12 points if you completed test corrections
Kilmer is very good at making sure there is outside help. She dumbs down the math for you to help you understand, and also she is through when lecturing. She has notes already made you just bring them to class and fill it in. Her TA April is good! Also, she is very sweet. If you need something you can just ask her and she will be more than happy!
Only way you will pass is by going to class. One group quiz the class before every test.
Lectures were boring and incredibly slow. I took AP Calculus AB in high school and got a 4 on it to test out of Calculus but I still was required to take either Pre-Cal or Algebra. If you are even remotely good at math this class will be a breeze, I rarely went to class and finished with a high A.
Class heavily dependent on clicker questions, in class group quizzes, and homework. The homework isn't too bad as it's your best way of learning, however, the stuff on the homework isn't really on the test. Kilmer herself is a very chill person and wants you to learn the material; she's not out to get you, she just goes faast in class.
Easy A or B. Make sure you go to class because she asks iclicker questions for attendance. Go to her week in reviews bc her tests are just like them.
Kilmer is really nice and cares that you succeed in the class. Take advantage of office hours and TA hours, if you're struggling. She does a good job at explaining the material. Tests are pretty difficult, so make sure you go to class and follow along. Homework and everything besides the tests are easy, so do well on those to help yourself out.
She introduced iclickers this semester that are used for pop quizzes almost every lecture, and you have to get the answer right to receive full credit. The exams are much more difficult than the homework assignments and the week-in-reviews. There is not enough time to finish the exams. Her office hours are too packed to learn anything or get help.
I have had her for two semesters and have thoroughly enjoyed her class. She is good at explaining the topics and her fill in notes that are provided are great. She doesn't try to trick you on the tests and her tests are quite similar to the reviews, especially the final. Highly recommend for math 140 and 142!
I hadn't taken math in 2 years, so I appreciated the reviews and slower pace. Kilmer takes her job seriously and expects you to, but she's very helpful in and outside of class. Do the homework and make sure you understand what's going on because it will be the same on the tests.
I was not good in precal and had never taken calculus before this class but she did a great job of explaining things. If you go to class then your clicker average will help your grade even if you dont get them right. She drops your lowest test grade which helps a lot.
Math has always been rough for me, and so I knew I'd struggle with this class. I know lots of kids who made A's, but I went to Aplus and did the homework, studied her WIR notes, and just sort of floundered on her tests. Her office hours were usually pretty crowded, and if you weren't aggressive you probably wouldn't get a turn to ask her for help
examples in lecture were super easy then you go to do the homework and there are questions that you dont have examples of or are significantly more advanced than the ones from class and then the sample problems before an exam are even harder than those but if you can figure out those problems you should do ok on the exams.
She is the BEST math teacher I have ever had! Her lectures are vital for success; you will be lost if you don't go. GOING to the week-in review is VITAL, try to make your schedule to where you can actually go to the review and have questions for her. She gives very thorough explanations! The final isn't easier, it's just as hard as a regular exam.
Wow. I didn't think calculus could be this understandable! She's a PHENOMENAL professor. I would take her for every class if I could. Very accessible through office hours and is really caring. Clear lecturer. Homework greatly prepares you for tests. Love her so much. She made me like calculus!
Kilmer requires weekly hw, but you have multiple tries on each problem. There are many opportunities to get easy grades from daily I-Clicker participation points. Tests were easier than i expected and she gives tons of resources to get additional help and makes it very clear what is expected from you each class! She can be a bit redundant though...
Missed a couple classes and paid for it. Lots of people like her, we just didnt vibe
Kilmer is a great professor who explains concepts extremely well. She really cares about her students and their success. I'd definitely recommend her. She does use iclickers and assigns weekly homework.
Shes a sweet professor and is willing to help, but when you go to her for help she isnt sure what to tell you to do differently if youre struggling and have used all of her resources. I wouldnt recommend her if youre not good at math.
Ms. Kilmer is a true gem. She is constantly available for her outside of class through her office hours and week-in reviews. I love that we just print the notes and then go over each problem/concept in class as it helps me study for the exams. The homework can be tough at times as it sometimes requires higher thinking than talked about in class.
Very good lecturer for a very big class. Goes a little bit slow so its good if you struggle, but if not it can get a little boring. I did very well with minimal studying because she provides very good resources for test review and is very helpful with any questions. Very good class for freshman moves at a good pace
Not worth taking. She gives terrible feedback.
Avoid at all costs. She takes an hour to get through 3 example problems, assigns you a seat, and does clicker questions. If math is not your strong suit, do not take her class.
Kilmer is a very boring lecturer. She doesn't expand no any ideas and just teaches the examples. It is easy to get an A, just don't expect much from her end. If you have taken any prior calculus then this class will be a breeze. Just make sure to do the homework and show up for clicker questions. Also she assigns seats which sucks.
Overall, she's an alright math teacher (speaking from someone who is good at math) Clicker questions EVERY CLASS so attendance is basically mandatory. She teaches like her students are 2nd graders, but she's generally pretty caring.
1. assigned seats 2. she takes a whole class to do one easy problem 3. the tests are very similar to the group quizzes and week-in reviews 4. clicker questions are sometimes over material that has yet to be covered 5. the final replaces lowest test grade but it is cumulative 6. easy math just interesting professor
Professor Kilmer, in my opinion, was a great professor. I took her my first semester at A&M in math 140 and she made a huge difference in how challenging it was for me. She does week-in reviews every week and makes videos on how to do certain problems on the homework. Her class, syllabus, and grading is VERY organized. You have to work for an A.
Kilmer is a interesting woman, but if math is not your best strength I suggest not taking her. I'm alright in math, but she seemed to get me confused on what were doing. There's clicker questions very class so SHOW UP. there's groups which I tough was helpful. Overall not the best but not the worst, just depends if you can learn math quick.
I am horrible at math and I personally could not follow along with her teaching techniques. She does offer a lot of outside help, like Week in Reviews, which are extremely helpful for practice.
I absolutely HATED this professor! The textbook will not help you whatsoever and she is agonizingly slow in the lecture. If math is not your strongest subject I highly suggest taking this course at a community college. If you have to take this make sure you utilize office hours like crazy but all in all this professor is awful.
She has worksheets to print off before every class, and in class she just goes through the worksheet and shows you how to do the problems. She makes some videos online to explain some of the ones she won't do in class. Really helped me understand how to solve the problems. Would definitely take again
Mrs. Kilmer was a decent prof but I always felt like her lectures lasted sooo long. She repeats herself often to make sure everyone understands but it can get old fast. If youve struggled with math in the past I would recommend her since she really cares about your success and is always available for questions. The class easy overall so easy A too
Kilmer is a very good math prof. There is homework that is due every week but it is usually easy. Her tests are easy, but get harder as the semester goes on. She is always accessible and there are always week in reviews and help sessions. If you pay attention and understand how to do the homework than you should be successful.
Her tests were half multiple choice and half true/false. Sometimes she did not explain things very well but there were ways to access her for questions or help.
Professor Kilmer is good at clearly and thoroughly explaining the math material. She goes over each process step by step. However, she can be a bit redundant if you are somewhat familiar with the material from other math courses. Attending her lectures are essential. She holds every class until the last minute. Overall, a good and thorough prof.
She is a good professor- explains the material well but the tests are impossible. Only 45 minutes for 20 questions. 10 are multiple choice and 10 true/false so there is no partial credit at all. Clicker questions every class so you can't skip.
this class was super easy. She taught towards the people struggling the most which made it easy for anyone who is somewhat familiar with the material. the homework is due every Thursday and goes by really fast. The tests were pretty easy as long as you look at the week in review test reviews which she made previously and are just like the test.
Kendra Kilmer is an AMAZING professor! She is very clear and articulate during her lectures and offers so many resources such as video notes, week-in-reviews, help sessions, office hours, etc. The grades are mostly based on exams but also include online hw, clicker grades, and group quizzes. I HIGHLY recommend this professor for this course.
Professor Kilmer has been one of my favorites because of how much she cares about her students. She provides so many resources (week in reviews, office hours, help sessions, online videos, weekly review quizzes). Lecture moves slow, but attend class as she gives points for clicker questions ! Exams were the worst part because of the time allotted.
It's super important to go to class, she has daily clicker questions and will do group quizzes which all help your grade. The tests will get progressively harder, but in class, she takes her time to really explain the material. She has more outside class help than any class I have ever taken before and the Week-in-Review is a must.
Professor Kilmer is very helpful and wants all of her students to succeed. She offers a hefty amount of help outside of class and is willing to answer any questions during class. I struggle with math to the point where I made a 50 on the first test but after office hours and TA hours I made 80's in my next tests. Really caring professor, I recommen
I personally feel that Professor Kilmer is a great prof for people who struggle with pre calc concepts. She makes sure to take her time in lectures and doesnt fly through the materials in class. The week in reviews are super helpful if you dont understand a concept. You will excel on the tests if you utilize review sessions and problem sets.
Really easy class but then again its math 140. She tends to treat you like a hs student-clicker questions, assigned seats, no electronics, but still an easy class. Have to go bc clicker quizzes. Tests kinda suck bc theyre half T/F and feel like youre not being tested on knowing the material rather can you read correctly. Weekly hw. Ok prof,ez class
Kilmer is a really nice professor and she is really helpful during her office hours. I went to the office hours a lot and she always answered my questions in a really helpful way. Don't take 142 at A&M, it is unnecessarily hard. Learn from my mistakes but she is also a great professor for 140.
This class is pretty easy but you do have to study and work for it. She is pretty nice but she does a lot of group work and daily clicker quizzes so don't miss class. She also held giant reviews before each exam which were really helpful. Overall a good prof!
Great prof. Very sweet woman. Splits you into small groups which helps throughout the semester. Clicker questions are her form of taking attendance and small grades. She genuinely cares about her students' success. USE THE RESOURCES SHE GIVES YOU. I never printed notes nor went to office hours and struggled some, so you'll want to do those.
Professor Kilmer is nice and seems to care a lot about how her students are doing. She gives you a lot of resources, so you can do well in her class. There is weekly homework on online due each Thursday, but she gives you a lot of time to complete it. You dont necessarily have to come to class, but it is helpful and there are clicker questions.
Shes an ok professor. You cant skip class and expect to pass AT ALL. If you already took precal then the material is not difficult but if you havent, she doesnt explain it in the easiest way. And if you dont do it her way, you wont get points on the test. Also theres group quizzes, and a ton of clicker questions.
Professor Kilmer makes understanding mathematical concepts simple. Her exams are typically easier than her reviews and practice problems. Attendance is not mandatory, but there are daily clicker questions that are for a grade. She spends a lot of time in lectures making sure her students understand the concepts.
Dr Kilmer is genuinely such a sweet lady. She makes lots of efforts to clarify and make all the material as easy to follow as possible. I enjoyed her class, we took notes during class of examples, then homework was assigned online usually 1 per week. Tests are moderately difficult, go over reviews and rework homework problems and you should do well
Shes painfully average at teaching. The subject isnt hard though so youll be fine if youre even moderately good at math.
Shes an okay professor. She always refers you to go watch videos at home in the notes, which gets annoying. She teaches you like youre a child and sometimes talks about nothing and you get lost. Math 140 is not hard, especially if you have a precal background.
She is a pretty good teacher, however does clicker questions every day so attendance is advisable. Funny and sweet, took her at 8am and wasn't upset by it!
Professor Kilmer is such a good prof! If you have the chance to take her definitely do. The only downside of the class is that she does clicker question which can get annoying but just show up to class and they're easy. TAKE HER!!
A good prof. Very clear guidelines for exams as well as homework. Very approachable. Classes aren't required, but if you don't go, you will very likely fail the classes as the notes are very helpful.
Math 140 isn't that hard of a course so it doesn't really matter who your prof is. Professor Kilmer is really nice. I went to her office hours to do homework often and she always answered my questions. The only reason I would't take her class again is I kinda felt like I was still in high school when I was in her class.
Kilmer is a good professor, however, you have to do the work outside of class in order to get a good grade. Final is cumulative.
She was very nice, genuinely cared about her students, and explained how to solve problems very well. However, part of the problems she would give couldnt be solved during class as a result of a lack of time, but she would post videos online which were very helpful although sometimes time consuming.
This course is an easy A if you have a basic grasp of middle school algebra and precalc. Calculators on all exams, clicker questions, and online homework due every week. It felt like high school with assigned seating, group quizzes and guided notes.
she was an alright teacher, but her lectures could be boring (though very easy to follow). she has notes that you print out and bring to class and you should always print them out on time or youll fall behind. i didnt like that she gave us assigned seats. overall a pretty good teacher, and if i was taking 142 here i would choose her
By far my favorite prof I have had. She cares about her students and gives great lectures. Her notes go along great with the homework she gives so all of it can be done easily. She does not take attendance, but does do participation grades through clicker questions each class. Tries to accommodate to her students as much as she can. I loved her!
Kind woman but hard class! She can move fast but cares for her students. Is not very personable but class could be worse.
Mrs. Kilmer made learning math easy. There were clicker questions for a grade, which means that attendance matters. No extra credit. Homework every week. She is also very caring and very helpful during office hours.
Kilmer teaches so slow. I had no trouble with this class because I had taken a class before but if you haven't, you might have trouble. I often found myself dosing off in class and she is really strict on cell phones. If you have it out she'll call you out in front of the whole class. Overall decent prof and easy class for me.
Kilmer is tough. If you have never taken a calculus class before, don't take her. She doesn't explain things well. Her office hours were not very helpful. She uses clickers to take attendance points so with that and homework you might have a small cushion. The homework is pointless and does not help when studying. Good luck because you'll need it!
Kilmer is a good choice if you are average or better at math, if you aren't I would think about taking someone else. I highly recommend going to class, because in math, especially this class, seeing it helps understand it and actually learn it. She is annoyingly strict on cell phones and will call you out during class and have everyone look at you.
She's a good prof for MATH140. Attendance is basically mandatory since you have to take a quiz on a clicker in the beginning of almost every class. If you follow her notes and go to the week in reviews then you're guaranteed a B.
I am not that great in math, her topics were not hard, but she did not explain things very well. She is nice and I was always in her office hours, she lets you go and do your homework in there and she will help you. In lecture she tend to over-explain herself a lot, I think that is what confused me. I recommend going to her office.
had her for math 142 in the morning, and she would get off topic a lot of the time causing us to get a lot of test material crammed into just a week before the test. she was really nice in office hours and helpful, but once we went online it was just a hard course. overall in person she was awesome and helpful
The main difficulty in this class is how heavily weighted the exams are. Go to recitation to get help on homework, and ask questions!! Lecture can be a little confusing at times, but Prof Kilmer is really good at answering questions and she wants you to succeed! If you haven't taken CALC in high school this course is rather difficult.
Kilmer was fantastic; she went over concepts very thoroughly, had very clear notes to follow through on and I heard her office hours are great (I didn't go though). Overall the class did not have a heavy HEAVY courseload (a couple of online assignments and recitation worksheets) and exams were mostly like the practice stuff given.
I have mixed feelings about her. Definitely one of the nicer profs I've had, but can be iffy when it comes to lecturing. She would explain things in a difficult way and her exams could be harder than homework at times. She was also kind of rude to me over email when I had questions about my exam grades. Don't know that I would take her again
I think Mrs. Kilmer is a great person and has a great personality, but teaching wise, I would definitely not recommend her. If you have little background in math and it really isn't your strong suit, you will have a terrible time in this class. Most of the times, the tests were so much harder than the homework and were heavily graded.
Great professor. Cares a lot about the success of her students. Homework really helps reinforce topics, and she emails you the notes for each lesson. I was really scared for calculus because I was bad at precalc, but I thought this class was easy and enjoyable.
Dr. Kilmer is great. She is caring and really cares for her students success. Plenty of study materials, reviews, and other help outside of class. If you dont have much calculas knowledge this class will be difficult, but if you study and do the homework you can get at least a B. The homework is harder than exams but very helpful!
Best prof ever. Had her for math 142. If you really listen in class, you will do really well. She is really good at explaining the material. She is also really really kind and super nice about answering questions and giving clear feedback.
Kilmer is such a great prof. Her lectures are really helpful as well as the suggested homework. She provided tons of help/review sessions every week. There are 4 exams, 20 hw assignments and 10 quizzes (some are group). Exam are difficult, but if you watch the lectures again you should be fine.
She's a solid prof. Do the homework, redo the problems from her review sessions and notes and you'll get an A. I never went to class because it was online but did pretty well because the tests are just like the practices she gives. It does take a lot of effort for an A but it's doable. She's pretty reachable even with being online and def cares
she sucks. Plain and simple. she doesn't understand technology and grades at a snail's pace. We took our multiple choice final over a week ago and it has yet to be graded. She gets off topic and can never finish a lecture on time. she loves to just throw in random quizzes over the weekend and say almost nothing about them. pick a diff prof please..
Good teacher, her lectures were helpful. Group assignments start off easy but get VERY difficult after a few weeks, beware. Tests and quizzes are relatively easy though. Quite a bit of homework but not unbearable. Btw theres no point in buying the physical textbook or answer book because the homework is online.
Solid lectures and plenty of practice problem sets. She answers questions in class and moves through the material at a good pace. The quizzes/tests are pretty straightforward and we get plenty of review. Decent amount of homework but beware of the group assignments, they are tough. It isn't hard to get an A in her class as long as you study.
Isn't the worst professor but definitely far from the best. Get used to scrambling to finish the online homework as there are at least two assignments due a week on top of weekly quizzes and group assignments.
Tests mean everything in the class, so if you don't do well on those, prepare to take a B or lower. She grades extremely harsh will take off points for not writing out a definition even if you got the right answer. Feel like I'm being tested over my arithmetic rather than my calculus skills. Quizzes are difficult as well. Good luck.
If you're looking for a sign, here it is. Do NOT take her, literally run away. Might be the worst professor I've ever had in my three years of college. Her exams are extremely difficult, she does not curve the tests, and her tests are the only thing that matters in the class. She also teaches like she is teaching children not college students.
This class sucked. Dr. Kilmer talks to her students like we are 5 but then teaches the material so fast she does not give us time to comprehend what we are even doing. She has weekly quizzes and group assignments as well as 2-5 homework assignments. Her tests are impossible and she does not curve then. I would NOT recommend her to anyone.
If you don't do well on tests get ready for a low grade. Tons of homework, weekly quizzes and group assignments that are worth a very low percentage of your grade. Tests are very hard and graded harshly. No matter the class percentage there are NO curves.
The class started off easy but after the first exam got extremely difficult. The tests are much harder than both the homework and the study guides she gives out. They are also graded very harshly and majority multiple choice which does not yield any partial credit. Choose a different teacher who has more fair tests that are not graded so heavily.
Prof Kilmer teaches very well but the homework and lecture problems tend to be quite easier than the problems she gives on the exams.
As described by the other ratings, it's true that this professor tends to make the lecture examples and quizzes easier than what it seems to be tested on for our exams! I would not recommend such a professor who also tends to be passive aggressive (especially during exams, her tone seems irritable).
I took calculus in high school and was NOT good at it, but Kilmer made it a lot easier to understand. She is very clear with how she explains things and it helped me understand calculus a lot. Her lectures aren't mandatory, but I would recommend going to hear her talk through things. The class wasn't too hard and the homework is totally manageable.
I had taken Calc BC in high school, so this class wasn't super hard for me, and sort of like a review. I think it would've been harder had I not taken calc before. The computer homework and notes were fairly easy, just study the concepts and be ready to apply them to harder problems for the tests. I also had a great T.A for this class.
I took Calc AB in high school so it wasn't too bad for me. I think her class was overall not too bad, as long as you understand the notes, quizzes, and group assignments, you should be good. We did have a solo quiz, group assignment, and homework due each week, which was kind of a lot but it was helpful. My TA was also amazing!
Prof. Kilmer is extremely kind and thorough in her lectures. She takes her time explaining each topic carefully and emphasizes the "why" and "how" with new concepts. There is a group and individual quiz each week, but you can get 100% on all quizzes and homeworks and still do bad. Tests are hard and weighted heavily. Kilmer rocks but be careful!
Kilmer is a good teacher. She explains things thoroughly and is very clear about what you need to know for exams. She is good at answering questions. The computer homework was not very difficult but her group assignments were very tough and frustrating. Luckily, the exam questions are rarely as difficult as the group assignments.
She gave me back points that my TA incorrectly took off my exam, so that was nice. As the semester progressed, the exams got less like the test reviews, and there wasn't a review for the final. Both of my group assignment partners Q-dropped. Group assignments were hard towards the end. Everyone did bad on the last two tests, but no curve :(
She has never heard of DROPING A GRADE like everyone will have a bad homework as some point but NO. EVERY GRADE COUNTS and the homework is nothing like the tests or the notes it is testing simplification skills to a crazy degree. SHE DOESNT understand at all that you have other classses and doesnt care
As someone who didn't take a single calculus class in high school and jumped straight into this class, it was a horrible experience. I was so lost and confused and she counted off for the slightest things, and then wouldn't explain herself. She spent more time yelling at people about being on their phones rather than teaching the material, 0/10.
She was nice and did an okay job of teaching Calculus, but if I hadn't taken it in high school I don't think I would have done well. She is SO strict about phones/computers which is incredibly annoying, especially in a giant lecture hall. The homework is a lot harder than the material sometimes, but everything is very well organized.
Although she seems like a nice person outside of class, her lectures were hard to follow and boring. She never really captivated me and I would often get confused when she would go off on rants trying to answer one question. I am a math person and this course was tough. I was never motivated to go to class because it was hard listening to her talk.
The content of this class is easy, but the way Kilmer teaches reminds me of an on-level highschool classroom. She explains things at an elementary level which may sounds good, but I promise is not. If anything, she takes too long to teach, and spends more time yelling at students on their phones than exactly going through all the material.
She didn't contribute to my learning at all. During class it was as if she was learning the material as she was teaching it to us, and had an awful way of doing so. Her lectures were so slow to where we were often cramming right before an exam to cover all of the material. If you do not enjoy learning on your own I would not take this professor.
I didn't take calculus in high school but this class was doable. She only had office hours two days a week but the TAs were helpful when she was unavailable. She was always nice and sent out reminders of when things were due. Sometimes the class felt rushed and we were just cramming in last minute material that was going to be on the next test.
The material isn't hard, she's just VERY bad at teaching! The way she teaches in lecture is like she's teaching 5-year olds. She uses the easiest problems in class, but when we have to do homework/tests, the problems given are 100x harder. Her goal is to catch students going against the Aggie Honor Code & doesn't care for our academic ability.
Two words: STAY AWAY!
Homework is 10x harder than lecture problems, but the exams are more similar to lecture. Missed a few assignments because she put them in last minute. She's a good teacher, but treats us like children and is more focused on catching someone violating honor code than actually teaching us the material.
Having not taken calculus in high school, Kilmer's lectures helped me a lot to understand. They're not entertaining, but she does explain the material thoroughly. She was very kind when people asked questions. Exams were difficult, but that's just calculus by nature. Recitation was annoying, though, and the quizzes made attendance mandatory.
I was scared to take this class, but Kilmer did do a decent job explaining things. The lectures are boring, homework is way harder than it needs to be (but TA hours were very helpful with getting the hw done), weekly quizzes were annoying (warning: don't cheat), but the key is studying your notes very thoroughly as tests are based on notes.
The content you learn from lecture is not bad, you can follow along pretty well. The quizzes and group work are like horrendous tho, really long and tedious problems. Practice alot for the exams, they are doable, but the free-response section is tough.
Kilmer's lectures are simple while quizzes and the homework are difficult by comparison. You HAVE to be in class if you want good grades because of quizzes and iClicker. Overall though, she did a good job in lecture and the exams aren't unreasonable if you study enough. You have to work for it but an A is well within reason. She's really nice too.
Professor Kilmer's lectures are amazing. She's always there to help and is accessible outside of class. She is able to simplify difficult topics and explain each step very well. Even though MATH 142 is considered a difficult class, I am pleased to have a great professor like her!
Professor Kilmer is a fantastic professor. While her class was not one I would consider "easy," she tries her best to help students learn. She is very accessible outside of class during office hours and is very helpful. 10/10 recommend her for Math 142.
Business Calc started as a really challenging class but after using the MLC religiously and attending office hours, became manageable. Professor Kilmer is really sweet and does a great job explaining what we learn to make it understandable. Lots of group quizzes and homework but easy to manage getting a good grade on those.
Mrs. Kilmer was an amazing professor. She replaces your lowest exam score with your final grade if it benefits you. She dropped 2 video quiz, 2 homework, 1 in class quiz, and 1 iClicker. She has many resources to help you succeed in her class. I only attended about 2 office hours and even failed an exam and still managed an A.
I really enjoyed Kilmer's class. She is very clear with how she explains things, however, it can feel as if she is teaching on a high school level instead of a college one at times. If you do all the homework and participate by taking notes in class, you will do well. The material is easy for the most part. If you took Calc in HS, you'll do fine
Mrs. Kilmer was probably my favorite professor this semester. I didn't take calc in high school, but her teaching style didn't make me feel like I was behind. I went to her office hours a lot for homework, & she was so helpful. Tests are exactly what we learned in class, & the reviews she posts help a lot. So sweet and wants students to succeed.
Kilmer had office hours every day of the week which was helpful if you needed help on the homeworks. Hw heavy class, but they're online, which helps you get the best grade possible. Always a possibility to get a 100 on every hw. You CANT skip class bc it can get very hard if you do. Math is hard for me so I got a B but I would still HIGHLY rec her
Prof Kilmer was my favorite prof. She is very accessible outside of class. Though her class may not be super easy for those who haven't taken calc in high school, it's definitely doable. she is very good at answering questions and making sure you understand the topics. She really wants to see everyone succeed. Take her if you can!
easy class, didn't take calc in high school but it was a piece of cake. people who have a hard time in this class don't study at all and expect to do good.
Lectures were SUPER boring, but the class is easy enough to understand regardless. The math department gives unhealthy amounts of work, just an FYI, but thats not a teacher thing. You should be fine if you get her, but likely you wont have the most enjoyable lectures.
This Class is pretty difficult, be ready to study for a few hours. Lectures are often boring but she's a good prof, TA's were very helpful so be sure to utilize them. Homework's are beyond difficult and go into things we haven't learned.
Mrs. Kilmer is an average professor in all aspects. She is sometimes boring and pretty mundane but if you pay attention and do the homework this shouldn't be a difficult class. That being said the homework's are so tedious, sadly this is a MATH142 issue NOT Mrs. Kilmer.
She is a very nice professor and is always willing to try and help. There will be a lot of online math homework, as well as, in-class quizzes and take-home quizzes. She tries her best to ensure everyone understands how to do the math. She is also very understanding when is comes to homework assignments.
Lectures are boring, but very useful to understand the material. In almost every class there was a Clicker, so you cannot miss unless you have an excused absence. Quizzes every week, but they were all Group quizzes. Exams were not bad, lots of office hours were available during the week, and provides many practice exams to study.
I took Orchard, the way he teaches isn't effective. Kilmer is though. She grades easy on our class quizzes (bumps your grade), lot of online HW but you CAN get a 100. Exams are hard, but do the practice tests. Out of all the profs, Kilmer is your best chance at passing calc. You have to STUDY for hours, regardless of who you get.
Lectures can be boring but they help a lot, and she does group quizzes and iclicker questions. She is understanding and easy to follow along with. Homework is tedious, but she drops a few low grades. Group quizzes are much harder than the exam questions, so they are good practice and don't hurt your grade too much.
Kilmer is not a bad prof. She goes too slow for my liking, usually over-explaining certain topics and leaving us to complete homework the night before an exam which was super annoying. Exams are fairly straightforward and she provides you with a lot of exam prep materials.
She goes at like a high school pace at teaching, but the content makes sense and you go home and do the homework without much problem. However, the tests have some nasty questions that technically you can solve with what you learned but they will kill you due to having a time-crunch during exams.
She was a great teacher and made the material easy to understand. The tests were a bit challenging, especially the final, and attendance was definitely mandatory. Whenever I had to miss class due to some school event/sickness, though, she was very kind and understanding and helped me out.
Everyone thinks this class is hard but it isn't. I took this class spring 2023, worked hard and ended up getting 99 in this class. If you struggle in this class than you're not trying hard enough. Make sure to use the textbook for extra practice. Homework is alot harder than tests. Come to class and focus, ask for help. Then you're chilling.
Weekly homework for each chapter, video quizzes before each class, and a weekly (usually group) quiz. Lowest test dropped by final grade. You can't slack off and if you put in the effort you will get an A. She is very accessible through office hours and a great teacher- imo she went a little slow, but that's always better than going too fast.
She knows her stuff and is good at explaining. She is always willing to help, as well as the TA's. My only complaint is that she goes super slow. Her 1 hour and 15 minute lecture could be taught in 20 minutes. Very hard to pay attention. Offers plenty of resources to help you succeed. Probably one of the better math professors.
She will literally tell you how to do problems during quizzes that will show up on tests. Do the practice tests and pay a little attention in class (optional), and you really should be set.
I think she is a fantastic teacher. However, her class is my least favorite only because math bores me so much. I'm in her T-TH classes, so the class is 1 hr and 15 min long, so I lose focus pretty fast. All I can say is DO THE PRACTICE TEST before the exam and sit by smart people because there are A TON of group quizzes. I highly recommend her!
Overall a pretty manageable class. Web assigns after each section, typically 1 group quiz a week (they're mostly just checks for understanding). There isn't much homework for practice so definitely utilize the textbook and all the practice problems because you won't master the material without it! Her tests are very similar to the practice tests.
She is very kind and definitely cares for her students. She responds to emails quickly and sends reminder emails the day an assignment is due if you have not yet submitted it. I had a mandatory org event that conflicted with exam 3 and she set up a make-up exam for me that allowed me to still leave on time for Thanksgiving break.
I enjoyed taking this class. The material is fairly easy with a good understanding of algebra. The professor is very sweet and easy to communicate with. She really cares about the class and wants everyone to succeed. She also explains things well and answers any questions the class has.
Her class would go on forever and having it at 8 AM was the worst. If you show up to class you'll be fine because she does go over things in great detail. Quizzes and homework are harder than the exams. Utilize the practice exams and you'll be good. Does iClicker each class so just be there. Really slow and mind-numbing but I learned math so...
One of the better math professors! Very clear on what is expected of you. Her lectures are long, but still manageable. Just do your homework it should be easier math class
Lectures are probably good if you're really bad at math. She goes WAY too far into detail on concepts that are common sense. She then flies through things that "you'll learn later" but show on exams. Group quizzes aren't good, if you don't make a good group, they will drag your quiz grades down. You are expected to teach others. Very easy exams.
She was thorough and wanted her students to comprehend the material. Attendance is graded through iClicker questions. The exams did not provide any surprises. She is organized and gives her students a plethora of review resources. Get a good group for group quizzes.
Professor Kilmer is a kind lady and a decent teacher, however in the broad scope of Math 140 she makes her tests and final twice as hard as any other professor. We spend 2 days out of the whole semester discussing finance and she gave us NO material to practice it before making it 1/4 of the final. She is very bad at pacing the course.
I already rated her, but exam time given is tooooo short so be ready.
Caring, but exams were really hard for me. Went to tutor John for final and that will definitely help a little. Had to go to office hours every day for help w homework. Put in the work and you will do okay. Definitely have friends in class to ask for help. I never knew the answers to in class polls so study or review before class.
Teaches for a long time on easy concepts and then skips over the difficult. Grades exams pretty tough so pay attention to when you get your first exam back to see how she grades. Took BC calc in high school and somehow was on the brink of a B in this algebra class until the final. Tutor john def helped more than anything. Rounded up from a 2.5
Mrs.Kilmer is a good prof if you need things broken down slowly for you to understand. On the other hand she starts new material before giving exams on past material and does not give much time to prepare for exams.
overall, shes a very sweet teacher and I enjoyed her teaching style. as long as you watch the video quizzes beforehand and pay somewhat attention in the class its hard to not do well as long as you try. overall course content is very easy for the most part.
Kilmer was a great professor and explained everything very, sometimes even too, in-depth. She provides lots of resources for exams and if you just use them, you should be all good. There isn't much homework outside of class, just an online assignment or two most weeks.
Professor Kilmer is one of the most genuine professors I've had. She goes into a lot of detail while going over the notes in class. There is a lot of opportunity to get help outside of class. However, her tests and quizzes are very difficult and often include things we did not go over in class.
Literally will explain 2+2 to you but skip through all of the confusing parts. I am low key convinced she doesn't actually know how to do it since she just reads off her notes to know what to do. She literally drove me insane because she is the slowest talking person EVER and I would always zone out. She's not the worst ever but shes not great.
Dr. Kilmer made learning the fundamentals of pre-calculus easy in my opinion. She taught this class as if she was a high school teacher breaking down all the steps and hand writing steps so that you wont forget how to actually do them. Compared to other professors, she is definitely one the better ones and is easy to access outside of class.
Professor Kilmer breaks down pre-calc concepts thoroughly, but can move slowly. Exams are challenging, so use all resources like the textbook, study sessions, and unstuckstudy ai to prepare. Overall, a decent option if you need extra support.
She is a very sweet and caring professor. The class itself is not too hard if you do all the homework and the practice test that's basically the exam. The only thing is that she moves super slow, but's so students can understand the material.
Tests and quizzes are harder than other classes. Teaches very slow but doesn't explain harder concepts very thoroughly. group quizzes will bring your grade down if you don't have a good group. almost impossible to miss class without missing iClicker, or quizzes.
She talks very fast in her lectures and expects you to understand mathematic terms before taking her class. Sweet lady, but extremely passionate about math which has lead her on tangents mid lecture. Test are difficult due to workout problems with problems you don't see on the homework or notes.
she goes over the simple and easy things in the notes, but not teach the things we actually needed to learn for the group quizzes and tests. the homework, group quizzes, exams, and take-home homework are all 10x harder than the notes she does during class. attendance is mandatory; if you miss an iClicker question during class, you get a 0 for it.
She breaks down the math, so sometimes the lecture is slow. She is a sweet professor and is willing to make sure you understand. She does iClicker so attendance is mandatoryish. Study for exams, use all the resources and make time for the course. The final is cumulative. The homework isn't bad, do video quizzes before lecture or you'll be lost.
She talks a lot and sometimes it feels like she skips through the material rather than breaking it down, if you struggle with math I would go to another Professor. But she is super sweet and does her best to help you.
This class was very easy. Tests were easier than the homeworks and could have been designed a lot more difficult than they were. She uses iclicker so going to class is mandatory. She explains concepts in a lot of detail, sometimes almost too much. Professor Kilmer does a great job of making sure her students understand the material.
Prof.Kilmer was a really nice and very detailed lecturer. My only complaint is that we are still not prepared to do the homework problems, which were much harder than the questions she went through in class. She also has i-clicker questions very often, so attendance is required, but as long as you participate, you can get a good grade on them.
I took Mrs. Kilmer for Math 140 and Math 142. She is great! I am an English major who took AP Calc in high school and I felt that she explained the math concepts very clearly. She does a good job of breaking the steps down and answers student questions. She sends out reminders when things are due and shares a lot of info about math help sessions.
Very sweet and kind professor, goes over lectures thoroughly, but the homework and exams can be a bit tricky; they seemed to be way more difficult than the material covered in class. Overall, just pay attention and ask her for help, you will be fine.
This was an okay math class. BORING lectures. I am not a math person so I had to fight for a B in here, but it was possible. When you ask her questions she gets condescending. Homework is doable, but utilize the VMLC, Week-In reviews, and HOGUs to really succeed!
This class is naturally content heavy, but she organizes the content very effectively and even though it is fast paced, she is always stopping to answer questions and is even more willing to walk through everything in her office hours. I would say my biggest struggle was not the professor, but how i managed the class myself. Finish every HW early!
Teaches like were kids, but then throws difficult questions on exams and quizzes.. Her class examples do not compare to the difficulty. Had exam reviews that sucked and didn't match the exams. Doesn't offer past exams for practice.
Sweet professor, but the exams were very difficult compared to other 141 classes. Take another 141 prof if you can.
I got As on two tests and B on the second and received a B in the class since the final exam was absolutely terrible. Almost no one finished in the given time, and there was no curve even though she let on to students that she would "see". The quizzes which are weighted considerably heavily are graded like she hates you. Final harder than Math 171
She was decent at teaching. Personally I felt like she would over explain a lot of the concepts and actually make it more confusing than it needed to be. She would also take a super long time to explain things which got annoying because we would run out of time and she just wouldn't teach certain topics and expected us to learn them on our own.
I made two high A's and one B on the exams and had an A throughout the semester. The final exam was ridiculously harder than the other 3 exams and it brought my grade down to a B. I studied very hard for it and went over the previous exams at least three times. Kilmer did not curve any exams or the final grade and has been my only B in college.
I loved Mrs. Kilmer's class. She is very caring and attendance is not mandatory because she posts the notes online. It's essential to get a good group for the math quizzes. Her final exam replaces your lowest exam; however, the final was difficult and the majority of the class did not finish in time allotted. She drops two quizzes and the lowest hw
Lots of online HW outside of class. The material isn't necessarily hard but the lectures are fast. Kilmer skims over information and you must stay focused because if you don't you are going to miss significant information.
I love this professor so much. She's so funny and keeps you engaged. Very easy to understand she explains everything so clearly. So sad I won't be able to have her next year for math 142.
Mrs. Kilmer is a great person aside from teaching. Math 140 is not hard as long as you put i the work, and her TA, Kaylee, makes things 10x easier to understand! Would take again. It is quite a bit of video quizzes to watch.. that's really it
If you did not struggle with Calculus AB in high school, then this class should be a breeze. If not, no worries, she takes her time in explaining concepts and working out problems. I have not taken the final exam yet, so I cannot vouch for the difficulty, but the other exams were light as long as you study well. Lots of homework though.
She's a pretty good prof. If you're someone who needs things to be overexplained, take her. If not, don't bc you'll prob just get annoyed at how long she spends on one problem. She often doesn't finish notes in class and expects you to learn it on your own. Lots of homework. Final is cumulative, but all MC. Pretty easy for a calc class.
RIDICULOUSLY TOUGH GRADER. Try and find someone else. Save yourself.
