I really think that this professor is GREAT however she does mean business.. no Bullcrap Period. the first few days may be scary but DO NOT WORRY. Don't miss class read the assigned chapters(daily quizes... not hard), and study for tests.And always prepare for labs! If you have Questions E-mail her she is really good on that. Prof Murphy is an ok teacher. She's explains subjects pretty well in class and it's fairly interesting. You must read the chapters before class or you'll be completely lost during class. She also will have mini quizzes everyday just asking what you learned in that chapter but you have to be on time so you won't miss the quiz. Tests-ok, labs-ok

This was my favorite class of the semester. I loved Kendra Murphy! She is a great speaker. It is crucial to read the text, but it is pretty interesting. If you read and do the little bit of homework and studying required, it is an easy A.

I enjoyed her class. Her lectures are interesting. If you don't read the textbook, take good notes and you can still do well on the test. We have daily participation grades where we write something short about the chapter. Also lots of extra credit on elearn. Theres a 5pg paper but with arial font its more like 3 1/2. Nothing major. TAKE HER!

I took her for racial and ethic minorties and she is the best, most knowlegable professor i have had so far. She gives you a study guide for all of the tests and you know exactly what will be on the test. She has a great sense of humor and makes the class fun! She is extremely helpful and is there to answer your questions anytime. Take her!!!

Completely agree with the post on 4/15/08. Mandatory attendace and she hates it when people are late. Not too challenging though.

Prof Murphy is a GREAT instructor. You'll love her. She's very clear and funny when she does her lectures. Her tests are not bad at all. As long as u go over the notes you should be able to at least pull a B. She gives out plenty of extra credit and rarely any papers (and if so it's an easy topic). You HAVE to read the chapter material, as well as, pay attention to her lectures and take notes! Mrs. Murphy is a good teacher. She's very helpful, funny, and gives a lot of extra credit. She teaches straight out the book, so you can highlight everything she's saying in lecture. Tests are multiple guess and along with a short answer essay. You have a paper due towards the end of the course, but it's not bad.

Make sure you go to class she will fail you if you don't.Her tests are straight-forward and comes directly from the notes.We wrote 5 papers that ranged from 2 to 5 pages.She comes across as really stern but she is really nice if you get to know her.She will work with you if you let her know what is going on.Pay atttention or she will bust you out!

I LOVED this class! The best teacher I have had at Memphis. Very strict on attendance and being late. You will fail if you dont go, but you wont want to miss. One paper that is very easy. Go over the notes once before the test and youll be fine. No phones, not comps, newspapers, etc. She will bust you out. DONT BE LATE!!

Excellent professor.Attendance is mandatory or 1pt for each class after two is missed.You write three one pg paper in Ariel font,critiquing a movie.then 3 easy tests(if u study) & 1 5-8pg paper critiquing you race from the chapter.She tells you about the paper at the beginning of semester so just get it out of the way. She is smart & interesting.

Good professor, good teacher. Plenty of extra credit/opportunities to boost grade. Attendance required. Lectures are interesting, lots of anecdote, easy to understand. Study guides are exactly like the tests, easy and no surprises. Lectures follow the text, rarely took notes. Just go to class and know what's on the study guide, easy A.

She is an amazing teacher. Her lectures are interesting and you have class discussions to help you understand the material. Her papers aren't that hard(just follow ASA format). Plus the study guides are exactly like the tests and the class day before the test she will go over the entire study guide. Tons of extra credit opportunities.

Kendra Murphy is a good teacher, she loves Sociology and she knows her stuff. Her only problem is she seems to think she teaches elementary school and not college. No, you cannot go to the bathroom or go blow your nose. Participation points every morning, if you're late, forget it. You will need the book and the cd, no questions asked.

Murphy is awesome! For my class she posted the notes online, but she does not do this all the time due to people not showing up. She does give a in-class-quiz every class though so it is best that you go. She is VERY funny and NOT boring at all! She loves the subject and it shows. Take her! EASY A/B

This class isn't that hard at all for being junior level! Mrs Murphy puts the notes online and you just write along with them in class. There's like 4 or 5 tests and two papers. TAKE THIS CLASS!!! Took this class because I'm a Bio major &it pertains to pre-med students. LOVED IT LOVED HER. She makes it fun, easy, & hilarious! Learned alot tbh. Read ch. summaries before class & you'll ace the participation question. 2 tests 1 final come from powerpoints, one 3-page paper. TAKE THIS CLASS PEOPLE.

This class is super interesting and she makes it that way. Besides teaching from powerpoints she throws in her personal experiences to give examples. Class goes by super fast. DO NOT BE LATE! She has a huge problem with cell phones and tardies so be aware, but other than that she is a great professor to have for this class.

While she came across as a little abrasive at first, Dr. Murphy grew on me by the end of the month. She is straight forward and expects a lot, but she cares about her students and their grades. Class was mostly power point lectures with plenty of class discussions, and at the end of chapters there were easy quizzes. We had no tests.

professor murphy is overall a good teacher although her ego is huge.. she comes off as if she knows everything, and answers students' questions as if someone was always questioning her intelligence. it is an easy class and grade, she allows 3 missed classes before grade is affected, and is very hard on late assignments.

Her class is not hard. She does gives quizzes every period over class material. These quizzes are online about 15 questions. She also has a 3 to 5 paper on a deviant act that one has to commit and some discussion post. Overrall, it was not hard. However, One has to pay attention in class to answer the quizzes and discussion post online.

This was my second, and not my last, semester with Ms. Murphy. She is incredibly intelligent and caring about what she teaches, and encourages students to care about it just as much. She's a fair grader and her lectures are very interesting. It is VERY important to read the textbook for class and for the quizzes at the end of the chapters.

Amazing teacher!!! Professor Murphey used amazing lecture teaching techniques that kept me interested. She gives a participation question based on the reading before every class, so the readings are necessary. She gives assessments and a discussion over every lecture online, and the textbook can be accessed while taking the assessment.
