Ok, being honest, this class is not easy. Then again, what second semester science class is? He is willing to work with you if you are willing to work with him. He allows test corrections to earn back 60% of the points you missed which really helps. He wants his students to do well in his class, all you have to do is try.

His lecture is really good and you can get help everyday in chemistry tutoring center. However, if you just memorize answers for test, you will lose your grade. You must understand concepts of each chapter for applying the problem.

You had to work for the grade, but he was always available to help, and went above and beyond outside of class to makes sure I understood and grasped all topics. He is a great professor. The class was not easy but I learned a lot which will help me when I am furthering my knowledge of chemistry.

Prof. Abayan is the toughest professor i've ever had-that being said, he's also one of the most down to earth and honest I've ever had. His tests are tough and you will work hard for an A. But if you're willing to work with him, he's willing to work with you. This is a class where you will learn how to learn and how to study.

Professor Abayan genuinely cares about you and your grade. The material is sometimes hard to grasp, but he is ALWAYS in the Chemistry Support Lab to offer help. Professor Abayan has helped me so much this semester. I've learned more from him than I have in any other chemistry class I've taken. He should be regarded as one of the best at Lone Star.

Has great in-depth lectures which will benefit for all exams! Beware exams are extremely difficult, start studying as soon as you start new material. You'll have a "cheat sheet" which is just formulas- helps for test! He will let you know what to expect for tests, and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ask questions, you wont get by.

A really good professor and very clear on his expectations. In order to pass the class you have to pay attention to what he tells you what's on the exam and do as many problems like the ones he offers. Those people who did poorly probably just studied the one example he gave. You won't learn anything just by doing one problem you have to practice.

He's a college professor, not a baby sitter. If you REALLY want to excel in Chemistry, he's great. You'll definitely work for it. I spend a lot of time in tutoring for my CHEM class, and even though he's not a tutor, He is in there 20-30hr a week helping students. He is one of the best professors I have ever had. You have to work hard in order to get a good result. He is always available outside class. He is always ready to help you with any problem. Very inspirational and grades in a clear criteria. If you really want to learn chemistry, you should definitely take him!! He is worth it!!

The Professor is wonderful. Although the lab, I have to do everything myself, do not worry. The lab report is done by a group of two and minimum is 80 over 100. The test is pretty hard at first, but at the end, he gave a lot of chance to improve your grade. Lab is 25% 4 test 50% and final 25%. I recommend everybody to take him

I took Prof. K in the spring (Chem 1) & summer (Chem 2) of '16. If you really need to learn chemistry for future classes then take him. I just took Organic Chemistry at A&M Fall '17 and got an A and I honestly thank his class because even though it was really difficult, you really do learn the concepts and they stick with you.

Dr. Abayan is a very knowledgeable, caring, and awesome instructor. Due to Harvey, our schedule changed into a Hybrid class, which made things a little tougher, but if you take him as a regular class, I'm sure it'll be way easier. Prof K is incredibly intelligent and a great professor. Chemistry isn't an easy subject, but if you show an interest or apply some effort he will help you. This was a great class! At the beginning I struggled but as I started participating things improved drastically! He's also really entertaining during lectures. CHEM 1412 is a tough course, and I'm so thankful I had such a great professor throughout the entire course that prepared me for organic.

Hardest class Ive ever taken. If you took Chem your junior year of high school I recommend you take 1405 first. Lots of work. His test are VERY difficult He expects a lot from his students. I have Prof K for Chem 1411 and 1412. He is the absolute BEST prof! Going to tutoring and asking question with the professor is the key to success. He makes himself available to all his students and truly cares about their success. Prof K is one of the best professor I have ever had for a college course.

This professor is literally one of my favorite professors. I failed my first exam but he pushed me to do better. He is always available for you when you need help. Very simple and clear instructions, four exam total and a final. On the two or one of the exams you can do exam corrections and make the grade that you want. Strongly recommended!

Summer class! Chem 2 is hard as is and in summer its rough. If you get past the first week then you will succeed. I got an A but I stayed after almost everyday and the professor also stays after to work with students. Make sure yo get a good lab partner. If you have the option to, be sure to take him for Chem 1411 and 1412. Be prepared - he teaches on a university level and will not "spoon feed" you the material. I did not like his lectures. He glosses over things that he believes are easy. Sometimes if you ask a question be expected to hear, "Just trust me." as a response. Took him Spring 2020, overall good professor, class is very difficult and the test are always never like the practice test. He doesn't require homework, but he recommends it in order to learn the material. Lectures are very important bc they cover all the math behind the lesson. Professor makes the class unnecessarily tedious. You have to plan out all your methods on paper so he can follow you closely. If you don't follow the methods he wants you to follow(what he teaches in lecture) he will dock you points even if you get the right answer. Everything else is good. You will make an A if you know how he teaches AND grades.

Dr.K has very high expectations, and he is there 24/7 to help you learn so you can fulfill those expectation. If you like a challenge and you want to build character this is the class for you. If you want to skate thru life using minimal effort, this isnt the class for you. very highly recommended teacher.

His lectures are horrible hes all over the place and his exams are all free response but makes you log in in teams and watches you while your doing the exam. Chem 1411 is a hard course, but he makes it less daunting because he is always there to answer any questions. Lectures are solid and cares about students learning the material. Listen, chem 2 is going to be hard no matter who you take it from. The difference with Abayan is he will do anything in his power to help you succeed. Extra credit up to 10 pts on tests, test corrections, and accessibility at almost anytime of day are what make his class better. If you can put in the time and effort, youll pass this class.

I had to take Chem 1 during the summer, which made it more difficult to learn the material because of the short time period, but nevertheless Prof A was understanding and very helpful throughout the course. Took his 1411 with no problem and passed with an A, so decided to also take 1412 with him. Worst decision I made. Lectures all over the place, expects you to remember every single detail from 1411. The class is hard, but totally doable with some effort. If you do put in the effort, you will learn a lot. Participation and asking questions are key. 4 tests + final (mostly math), Cengage homework, labs, plenty of extra credit. He can be vague sometimes in his instructions, but you just have to get to know how the class runs and his expectations.

He is the best teacher for Gen Chem 1 and 2. Although, his test is hard, he does give you 10 pts extra on each test and 1 test correction. You will take away most of important things after getting out gen chem 1 and 2 to get ready for Ochem!!!

Professor K is an amazing instructor than teaches and expects comprehension at a high standard. If you want to truly understand the subject of chemistry, this is a great class. He condenses Chem 2 in 14 weeks and goes through all the material quick because he wants to teach O Chem at the end of the course. Be prepared to teach yourself for the most part. He does give a redemption points, however I would definitely look for a different professor. Not as accessible as everyone states. Chem 2 is hard, but he makes it worse.

Prof K is a good professor, but I wouldn't say he was great. He can be vague on instructions, and sometimes gives a heavy workload too close to tests, but despite that, he is very understanding and is very willing to work with you. Extremely difficult class but just take advantage of asking him for help and you should do fine.

If you haven't taken a chemistry class in years, this class is a huge learning curve material and test wise. He may react poorly to "simple" questions, people are hesitant to participate. He leaves a lot of room for correction and is available after class to help, but the workload and be really overwhelming if you're taking 4 other classes.

Great professor! Took him for both CHEM 1411 and 1412. Although these were one of the most challenging classes I have taken because of the amount of work I had to do to prepare for tests, I can definitely say I learned a lot and I feel prepared for higher-level science courses. This class was very hard. After failing the first 2 exams, I wanted to drop the class. I met with Prof K and he showed me a way I could still pass the class. With all the available extra credit I just had to put in the time. He is very caring and will help you succeed with his availability.

It's been two or three years since I took his Gen Chem courses at Lone Star, but to date he's one of only a few professors that stand out to me. He was always accessible within a quick timespan, was always patient with questions and made sure everyone understood what was going on. I was nervous at my first lab with him but he was calm and helpful.

Prof K wasn't terrible, but he could've been better. Be prepared to feel dumb asking questions, all work has to be done his way or he'll count it wrong, and tests and formals can be way too close together. If you decide to take him, don't take any other classes besides his or you'll regret it. Despite good reviews, I would not suggest taking him.

I genuinely tried and studied in this class. While Professor Abayan is a good chemist, he is a horrible teacher. Multiple times I've gone up to him for help and he's told me "I'm not helping you, go ask your smarter classmates." The tests are over obscure and unusual content from class designed to trick you. He is PROUD of his fail rate. AVOID!!

Exams are not proctored (the hard part was free reponse Extra Credit for Participation -All lectures are sections so you dont' have to watch for hours on end- Professor was available even on nights and weekends. I wish he taught ochem 2 online

Professor K is a great professor! My rating is for both 1411/12. The class and content are very difficult. You MUST spend a lot of time studying. Ask lots of questions in class; Prof. K is understanding. Tests can be very difficult, so overprepare. LOTS of extra credit + test corrections. If you work hard and show it, he probably won't fail you.

Professor K is a great chemist; he loves chemistry, and his passion for the subject is evident in his lectures. However, he is not as good a teacher as he is a chemist. Fortunately, he is very accessible outside of class in tutorials and the library. He provides extra credit opportunities before every exam, as well as test corrections

Man I struggled in this class soo much for 6 week summer, but there was soo much extra credit and the professor was always available I passed. I didn't think I would. I wish i could go back and take his 1411 class all again I would probably do better in chem 2
