Very very hard professor but if you want to learn and become confident when speaking in fornt of an audience he will make you gian confidence in yourself otherwise don't take him he is hard and strict.
I do not like this class is not because of the class but because of the teacher.
He expects above and beyond from his students. He expects specific answers when he asks general questions. He is tough, you have been warned.
Terrible professor, He reads and teaches everything from the speech book and tries to make it seem as though he created it, and he's very strict about plagarism, go figure.

Not an easy A, no one naps in this class. He can be a bit condescending, but he is a fair man and will help you if you need it. You will work in this class, but also you will learn. Used the whole book and amount of quizzes are based on class partic., so speak up!
he's a very hard grader. it is unexpected. passed all speechs and communicate a lot, but failed the tests with 50s and tried doing extra credit to make up. try so hard, but at the end there's a F. he made her lose confident in other classes and now on probation.

Prof.Antrobus,excellent teacher.If you are serious about learning,this is the class for you.Do all assignments, reading and you'll do well in his class.Participation play's a big role in this class. He was just a pleasure to have. Speech for me has gone to a higher level from this wonderful teacher.I wish I have him for all classes. He's the best.
This professor makes you study a lot, and you try and you try, but at the end his grading system is not fair at all.He didnt give an A to nobody in my class.He also has a British accent, wich is nice, but in a speech class you need an pofessor with an american accent.A lot of quizes too.Midterm and final, a nightmare.Dont take him.

He is a great teacher. If you do not understand something he will go over it twice or three times if he has to. as long as you do all your assigned work you should have no problem
I took this class in my first semester at BMCC (1999) and i still remember everything I learnt...He is a tough but helpful person. I really enjoyed the challenge since English is not my native language and I'm shy at speaking in public. Taking this class made me improve a lot.

If you want to improve your speaking skill or be able to do just about any other course in college you need to enroll in Prof. Antrobus' class. He is very tough, but if you apply yourself you will succeed in his class.
He is a great teacher. What you learn in his class is going to take you through your entire life. Love him, love him, love him. Had him Spring 2005. He is just the best. You cannot go wrong with taking him, once you are there to learn. Teacher of the year should go to Prof. Antrobus.
This is one of my first profs. He is a challenge but thats what one should look for. You WILL walk out of his class with knowledge that will help you in the future. Now im almost ready to graduate and im still using techniques I learned with him in my other classes. You love him in the end even if you dont get the frade you reached for, I promise.
Best teacher i've had! he was my favorite, i enjoyed his class and learned a whole lot. however hes tough and i assumed my latenesses were becomming a problem so i dropped the course. i DEFINATELY recommend him though hes an EXCELLENT teacher.

He was one of the most brilliant profs i took at BMCC; 2 years later and I still think about what he taught me at least once a week. That being said, do not take his class unless you are already very confident, 35 people started in my class and by the end only 7 were still in it.If you think you can cut it he is worth it beyond words.

Professor Antrobus was not a push over in anyway. He told the class from the 1st day what he expected of us, and followed through until the last day. He was my favorite Professor last term. If you are serious about your learning than DO take his class. If your not. . . DON'T, you will regret it!
Prof. Antrobus is eminent. He is the type of Prof. that is only for those that are serious about learning. He is strict and he pushes you to be the best. So, if you're not interested in attending, listening, doing the work, both inside and outside of the classroom, do not bother taking the class.

if you are not care about your grade but wanna learn something useful for your public speaking. TAKE IT! i chose it by mistake, although i don't think i will get a good grade, i REALLY learnt something useful from him. i am particularly grateful to him for his teaching!!

Professor Antrobus is a good teacher however his grading is extemely harsh. I studied & practiced my a** off for my speeches & ended up with a B+. Your best can never be enough w/him but if you try hard you shouldn't worry too much. After his class you will surely be more confident with public speaking. This class def. was a challenge I needed.
I took his class my freshman yr at BMCC. I believe he can instruct student better than he does. He's a bit too harsh on grading when the work isn't so hard. I would aviod him
The good thing about Antrobus is that he pushes you and makes sure u study and do your readings and work and u learn a lot in his class.BUT he is never satisfied with you work. he expects way too much. u gotta be a genius to get an A in his class. so if you are trying to get an A don't take this professor.

I had Professor Antrobus this year, and I learned a lot form him. Although he was strict,he was nice to all his students. He loved those students who really wanted to learn. In my opinion, professor Antrobus is a very good professor.

THOUGH Antrobus is strict with high expectations of his COLLEGE students and very particular about grading, I MUST ADMIT He is very efficient with a great deal of knowledge. Horrible experience, I felt hopeless in his class, I couldn't take his class, I do not like his way of teaching, very strict, I didn't feel motivated, I felt scared to participate, because he would make you feel stupid,I failed I think I would've passed this class if I had another teacher, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR.
Okay. I'll start by saying that this is the most intimidating professor I've ever had. He does make you feel stupid at times, but its only to make sure you understand the material. His class is not easy at all unless you're literally on top of everything. He is very clear and very helpful. He can be your best friend or your worst enemy.
He is the best Professor I have met at BMCC. He has gotten a very unique style of teaching. If you really want to learn something for your career you must join his class.
Professor Antrobus is only somewhat attractive but his personality ruins all that. He made a fun class horrible. He does not need to make the class so impossible and stressful. You can tell he does not like Americans,or people, or maybe just students, he's not very nice. You can take this class with another professor and enjoy it and do well.AVOID.
I got a A in his class but I'm telling you, it was really hard. I had to participate every time because if you didn't, he'll begin to start giving quizzes. Everything you learn in his class are repetitive and in the text book. He's straight forward and he'll tell your mistakes in front of every one but it was done to everyone. Take this class!!!
By far, Prof. Antrobus is one of my favorite professors at BMCC. He's strict, and calls you out on your mistakes in front of everyone. However, he's only doing it to help you realize your weak points. I got an A in his class, no it was not easy, but it's college. I'd advise you find a different class, especially if you're not up for a challenge.
Very strict but its for your own benefit, only class I actually learned life lessons from. Tests are hard you must read textbook every week to keep up. He just wants you to do good and I really enjoyed my time in his class I learned a lot of things. Not an easy A, but if you show that your try and care youll go very far in this class.

He's not for the weak hearted and does not seem to like the students if they aren't up to par in his eyes. He can also be mean and degrading and never understanding. Avoid at all costs I'm glad I swapped classes and wasn't stuck with him.
He knows a lot, but I feel his ego gets in the way of learning. In other words, his ego is the loudest noise in the room. He is brash and can come off as VERY ARROGANT. However, he does seem very knowledgeable and helpful if you ask.

I highly recommend Professor Antrobus if you're looking to major in communication. I agree that he is strict and intimidating but once you get passed that, he's a pretty great professor. He's not really a tough grader. He focuses more on your improvement and the knowledge you acquired throughout the entire semester.
You honestly have to attend class. He was a little extra at times but do the work, write your speeches, and remember them! ( don't like reader's reading off their paper). Very hard grader. A tad bit rude but participation matters. I swear it does. Read the book and come prepared. That's all.

This professor is very challenging and this is something positive of him, but he is very picky when it comes to giving you credit for your over all work. He expect you to be perfect in everything you do in his class, which we all know that nobody is perfect. I recumbent you not to take him, if you are not ready to face all of this.

A really good professor, he makes you do lot of work, but only for you to understand the material. I actually enjoyed his class, and learned a lot . Definitely not an easy A, but not impossible if you do your work. Be there on time, make sure you read the book ahead of time so you can participate in class and prepare well for each speech.
Professor Antrobus is hilarious, he is very specific when it comes to answering his questions and will usually bust your chops if you answer something not precisely and accurately, but all in good fun. He is tough which I appreciated being in a community college. He'll bring up his political opinions a lot during class and use them as examples.
He interrupts students with his feedback to the questions they try to answer in class. No direction for how to do the online discussion boards until after you've failed a few to figure out what he does and doesn't want. He expects students not to be nervous/display nervous behavior when giving first speech and fails you if you do. BE WARNED
Currently taking him! I feel like he's hard on us for a very good reason, and that is, to make us better. Participation is a must in his class, quizzes are pretty light, all the answers are on the textbook chapters
Professor Antrobus was an amazing professor. As long as you do all of his requirements there is a likely chance you could pass. You must read before coming to class as he will want you to participate. If you cannot do the speeches then you will fail the class. You must prepare the speeches ahead of time, because he will know if you haven't.

1 got an A in this class and it was nerve wrecking for me throughout the entire semester . Mr Antrobus is tough for all the right reasons. Before I entered his class i was very shy. His toughness made me work very hard, but it pays off. I must WARN YOU " it will not be easy", but If i can get an A, so can you. Do everything he says, perfect it.
Professor Antrobus is a tough grader. He provides good feedback when presenting your speech. I must say I have learned a lot of him. Attendance is a must and if you are late for your presentation he will not let you present which I find fair because as he would say "you won't be late for an interview".
He is not a nice professor, hes very bias, everyone dont get a fair chance, he doesnt know how to speak to people in a good way, he grades really hard. Speech supposed to be a easy class he made it very difficult, his class is uncomfortable and I would not recommend anyone to take his class.

He encourages class participation but he makes certain sarcastic remarks which generally discourages students from answering questions because they don't want to be put "on-the-spot" and throws "subs"at you ind

He's one of those professors that thinks you only have his class to worry about; as if you don't have 4+ other courses, a job, and/or a personal life. Due to the class being a hybrid, he expects you to memorize every single page of the textbook. Never satisfied with anything and makes you feel stupid for asking a question. He'll laugh in your face.
Clear and high energy during lectures but VERY militant. Since it's a hybrid course, he REFUSES to answer questions regarding the material in class. Will stop class if students do not know the material. Extremely condescending as well. Will NOT hesitate to roast you. SUPER tough grader and gives homework due before the class begins for the semester
I do not recommend Professor Antrobus. Hes a good person, however, he is a tough grader and he expects you to memorize everything in the textbook, so be sure to read all of the textbook material that was assigned before class. I did all of the assignments/quizzes on time, but he graded them with low scores.
Professor is horrible. Gives quizes every week. The questions in the exams aren't even answered in the powerpoint. Even on the first weeks, he grades extremely low and refuses to give any beneficial feedback to all his students. better off going to an actual lecture than spending time figuring out what he wants.
Bad professor. I had him this semester and barely passed despite doing all the work. Whenever you asked questions he made it seem like you were obviously supposed to know besides simply answering. He made the environment tense and uncomfortable.
If you're sensitive or lazy, do not take this prof. He's a prof that I learned a lot from and I felt excited to go to because he challenged the entire class to be better students and communicators which created a proactive and bonding experience for all of us who were just trying to survive his class and constructive criticisms. I felt like I was in boot camp. He is very strict and grades harshly. He loves to antagonize students and has a huge ego. Its almost as if he tried to see how much we could take before we had enough. He gives good feedback but will rip you apart in doing so. The instructions for the discussion boards were very unclear and I failed several.

The worst professor I have ever had. Doesn't care about teaching the next generation and will fail you because he can. I have him now and have never received over a 61% for any assignment. It is difficult to provide a review regarding this professors demeanor because the class was asynchronous. However, he comes across as condescending. His feedback is harsh and he makes a point to let you know your effort is of no importance to him, You either get the lesson or you don't. I would not recommend taking this class unless you have to.
I can't click the "wouldn't take this professor again" button hard enough. He knows his material but he really made the class hell, and I feel like he did it on purpose. Many dropped the class because they couldn't take it anymore. If his e go was inflated any more, he would pop. Disaster. Don't waste your time or money.
This is my experience, this was a few weeks before the pandemic began so it was on campus learning experience, on the first day of class he was absent, then on the second he was extremely late, and yet he dared to preach that he didn't tolerate tardiness. Since a limited words, I'll just this DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS.
I just found this website I had him my first semester. Worst thing to happen to me besides the Covid Lockdown. Terrible teacher Im still confused why he is still hired. This is my freshman year I just graduated out of high school you made my first time in college learning terrible. You are a inconsiderate teacher and dont even allow Zoom calls.
If you want to learn how to step out your comfort zone this is the teacher to go to. I cannot stress this enough, do not take anything personal because it isnt. Hes very straight foward but he does his job so well. Get there on time, ask questions, participate, do your work because you earn your grade with him. Great teacher, do not be intimidated.
This prof. was born angry wants to ruin your life. He gives vague, unhelpful feedback. Unclear instructions, and has the audacity to tell you it's your fault. THIS CLASS WILL TANK YOUR GPA. I went above and beyond to try to get good grades in this class but he will rip your hopes for a good grade away. STAY AWAY IF YOU WANT TO KEEP A GOOD GPA!!!

Professor Antrobus is harsh, If you feel speech 100 is a meaningless course or an easy A, please DO NOT take his class. He takes his course extremally seriously and does not grade based on your efforts. I passed every exam, participated in every lecture, never missed a class or an assignment and pulled off a B+. Nothing makes him content.
DONT TAKE IF YOU ARE LAZY! The work is easy to understand but he is a tough grader & meticulous. You have to read directions and apply his feedback. Class is not mandatory but always show up. Study the chapter assigned, textbook can be found online check tiktok. If he see you are trying and putting in effort he will help you pass, do not give up!
Not a easy A! He takes his course very seriously and nothing makes him content. He's very straight forward, do not be intimidated and give up. This man does not care about his students. His assignments are not clear. If he gives you feedback and you don't follow it on your next assignment he's deducting points for repeating feedback. This class was deeply frustrating and demoralizing. His instructions lacked clarity on the first assignment he graded us on criteria that were not outlined, claiming they were ‘implied.' He questioned my English placement without basis, despite my advisor confirming my placement was correct. When I sought help, his approach was not supportive
Horrible professor. He doesn't know how to properly grade or post assignments. His assignments posts would rarely open the file would say error and multiple times he would have to repost it delaying time to complete the assignment and he still wouldn't care and drop your grade down because of it. Don't risk your GPA warning you!!!
if you see this name DROP THE CLASS! this man makes you fall into depression with his so call “tough love.” this is an asynchronous class with a lot of videos and so little window to submit the assignments. also very disrespectful in his emails… he must be a damn joy at parties… one thing i give him is that he actually dose respond to emails…
At the end of the very first day he said "if you decide to drop my class because you realize its too hard and you don't like me that's fine just know that you'll get nowhere in life". Incredibly rude to the students and constant puts them down. Don't take his class. Nothing is ever good enough for him.
