This was by fat the best english class I have ever taken. The class is well-paced and there is a mix of papers/presentations. None of them are very difficult and the papers are mostly 3 pages long with a 7 page final paper. The presentations are super easy. HE TAKES THE CLASS OUT TO DINNER FOR THE FINAL AND BUYS FOOD!
He'll definitely roast you if he gets the chance, but it's all in good fun. His lectures are long, but the class itself really isn't hard. There's only 1 major paper due. No final. No midterm. You'll peer-edit a lot. He's a fun professor with real knowledge of English.
First few lectures are long, but after that lectures become shorter. Lots of peer editing. Makes you get into groups to talk about a topic and share. You watch the movie Psycho. Not very clear on the big final paper. Took an 8 week course, two days a week, kind of stressful. He answers emails even on weekends (!)
Professor Brady was Awesome! One of the greatest English I have ever had. His lectures are long but they turn out to be super helpful when it comes to writing papers. If you want a professor that cares Brady is the man! If I could take his class again I would! If you don't go to class you wont pass.
Honestly the best English teacher I've ever had. Hilarious, clear, and EXTEREMELY helpful! He buys food for the class and never ceases to make his students die laughing. I HIGHLY recommend him. Easy, as long as you do what you're supposed to!
Professor Brady is AMAZING! I hated english, but having him as a professor made it fun. He is a very caring professor who would like to see his students succeed! If I could I would've definitely taken another class with him!
Prof Brady is by far my FAVORITE english teacher at Saddleback, always coming in to class with whitty jokes and smart remarks towards his students. He really cares about his classes and wants to see his students succeed. Make sure you attend class and interact a lot, it made the class so much more enjoyable. Take HIM! Miss your classes already ;)
Online course. Each assignment clear and helpful. Step by step process helped me learn how to structure essays. Likes long essays and research paper project for final is 8-10 pages; so do the research and edit, edit, edit. High on MLA formatting.
Great teacher. NOT an easy A. A LOT of reading-writing. In depth on technical structure of writing professional-academic papers. Essays are LONG and plentiful. Unclear on assignments and often strays from the schedule. kKep up with emails and videos. If you pay attention you WILL learn TONS!
I would take this class over the other english teachers. Don't be late, unless you want to get trolled. He openly makes fun of all of the students, so unless you are the sensitive type, you should have a lot of fun. He explains the papers, and honestly I just did a lot of copy pasting and synonym changing. He also orders pizza for the class
I took the eight wee course this fall and I couldn't be happier. Professor Brady is really funny and isn't afraid to sass you, so have a thick skin. The eight week course was really easy if you have good time management. SHOW UP ON TIME. He hates when students are late. The eight week has less work than the 16 week but is also very fast paced
Brady is a witty guy, takes a few classes for his jokes to be funny. He will grill you the entire semester if you don't show up on time. Gives few homework assignments, always easy and always worth A LOT! of points. Essays prompts were fairly difficult, though page count was low.
Brady is a rock star. Super sassy so be prepared to come back with witty responses. Great class, you actually learn to be a better writer but Brady keeps a light, fun atmosphere. He's always willing to stay after class and help with whatever you need, even transfer applications. Highly recommend Professor Brady.
Professor Brady is rude and insensitive. Does not care about his student. He will grill you all the time or make you feel bad if your not at his level in writing. Judgy and most kids drop. So if you want to waste your time and then have to drop, take this class. MLA format very important in this class for the people that take him .
Greatest English Professor I have ever taken. Funniest teacher on campus with no competition. If you put the effort in, turn in assignments on time, and DON'T SHOW UP LATE you will do well.
Rude and makes inappropriate jokes. Long lectures. Learn MLA format. Doesn't provide good feedback. Don't be late unless you want to be made fun of. I didn't enjoy this class. Take someone else.
Brady is my least favorite english teacher ever. he's dryly sarcastic to the point of being rude. he had me his personal student to pick on because i asked for clarification on something he said in class. he was VERY rude. i hated him i wouldn't recommend him to anyone. he is an easy A so if that's all you care about take him if not don't.
Brady is the best English professor I've ever had hands down. He goes above and beyond to help his students and he even helped me with my application essays! His humor is hilarious although some people may not understand it. He even brought us pizza twice when we were writing our last essay, he called it Pizza & Draft Days. I really learned a lot.
If I had the option of tagging "rude," "inconsiderate," "unclear," and "will call you out in front of all of the class," I would. I have never had such a horrible teacher/professor in all of my life. Not only does he not give any reasonable/clear feedback, he expects you to understand these comments and apply them to your work (somehow?).
This dude literally made a comment in his online "lectures" (I put in air-quotes because it is him just talking about how stupid his students are), that he would not care if one of his students died, he would still expect their work to get done. If that isn't just a perfect example of what kind of a person he is (especially with grading)...
If I had the option of giving all zeros, this would be the professor. The only way that any of the positive comments below are true is if he wrote them himself. Rude, inconsiderate, inappropriate, and his grading makes no sense. English is my favorite class, and I was excited to take this course because of the good comments. Should have ignored
If you like multiple 500 word Discussion Boards every week, then by all means take Brady. His class is pretty straight forward, however it requires so much of your time. The homework assignments are worth just as much as the essays, therefore you can't really afford to skip any of his assigned busy work. I wouldn't take him again.
He is a jokester, and does pick on a few students if they're late. Read the assigned readings and do the questions to those readings. But do not half-ass the responses to the readings or on your essays. Just do what he says, turn in your work on time, know MLA format and you'll pass the class. Oh and he bought us pizza which was pretty cool!
If you appreciate wit, and comedy then you'll love the class. He bought us pizza on multiple occasions while we proofread each other's drafts. I haven't had an educator buy me pizza since elementary school. I really grew as a writer because he does take you through each essay step by step. Can't take a joke? Then this isn't the class for you.
The class is challenging, but an A is more than possible if you put in the work. It's not an easy A, it's a fair A. He does roast, don't take it personally cause he buys you pizza after.
really awesome professor. he made a lot of jokes at the students especially if they were late. no one really minded the jokes. in total we wrote two papers the entire semester. i dont see myself as a good writer but after taking it to the writing center a couple of times i aced both papers. would definitely take this class again
When it comes to writing I feel there isn't a whole lot to learn. He's really particular about MLA format and makes sure you master it before you write any papers. I found his lectures to be really funny. Some students took offense, but idk it didn't seem like he was actually serious cause we all ended up getting good grades from what I've seen
Theres a trend here. If you take it online it seems like its going to suck but if you take it in class youre gonna have a great time. I can see why, he's extremely sarcastic and that can be hard to pick up online. In class he was always just making jokes and students would throw them right back then he would buy as pizza while we peer edited.
Class went off on tangents a lot. didn't really do much throughout the semester. The constant berating and insulting of the students gets kinda old but I got an A without working that hard and he bought us pizza a bunch of times so I didnt really care what he said.
Pretty easy A for me at least. We joked around in class for a couple hours then he would cut us reaally early every single class. He makes it seem like he's tough grader but everyone ends up getting a good grade regardless.
Oh, my godness If you are LAZY, please DO NOT take his online course, it will KILL you. Approximately 30000 words writing including discussion topics and responds for 3 units course??? Excuse me????Why no one post it here for others to review? BUT, yes, you could learn a lot from Dr. Brady.
Wow English 1B online with Brady was painful. You are on your own thats for sure. His instructions are not clear. He posts very long video lectures so be prepared to watch those. He claims he is very willing to help via email with any questions, but he come across rude, not helpful and short answered when responding.
Kenneth Brady is truly a knowledgeable professor. He is caring and gave us pizza twice throughout the semester. Grading is tough but it is an English 1B. He is very funny however makes many jokes at others expense. I didn't mind it however defiantly could see someone else getting offended. Overall a great teacher. I would personal take him again.
Incredible professor! I highly recommend him to anyone that needs to take Eng IB. The criteria is clearly laid out and he's easily accessible through email. Show up, do the work and you'll pass. If you don't pass it's your own fault.
The online course was very intensive but not impossible. Expect multiple 500-word discussion posts a week, plus peer review, introductory paragraphs, rough drafts and 5 essays total that are over four pages long. I would not recommend people to take this course online because it took a lot of work, more than the usual for a 3 unit course.
Very rude and condescending, unclear in what he wants and grading is all over the place - no way to know what he wants. Takes up to more than a week to respond to emails and then puts the blame on the student for not knowing the answer to the question asked. Beware everyone and choose someone else!
Terrible professor. Very unclear and is quite condescending when you ask for clarification. Requires that you have an editing partner so beware for your own grade when someone else isn't doing their share of the work... makes sense right? Would not recommend.
Prof Brady seems nice at first but towards the end of the semester gets really inconsiderate esp when you have issues- just tells you to "think critically" for instances that need real answers. Website is annoying to navigate with his coffee shop metaphor and grades unreasonably. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Took the time to accommodate problems in submitting and (multiple) flaky peer editors and responded to my emails. Stay involved and devote the appropriate time and youll have a great semester here
One of the best classes for English writing. The topics selected for the class are excellent readings for every college student (i.e. Henry David Thoreau's "Civil Disobedience", Martin Luther King Jr.'s "Letter from Birmingham Jail", Singer and Masons "The Ethics of Eating Meat"). Dr. Brady will make you a significantly better writer, period!
I took Dr. Brady's online class and he was great. If you plan to be lazy then this class is not for you. He gives you the grade you deserve, but if you're willing to put in the work it's totally worth it. He will work with you to make your writing so much better! He gives good feedback and cares about his student's success and wellbeing!
Generous opportunities to put points in the gradebook. It's a ton of writing--standard for college English online. Approach the class with realistic expectations. Prof Brady was very kind when I explained my difficulties. If you need help, ask for it, but ask with a plan & show your completed work/some agency in the process/resolution.
I took professor Brady's online english 1B class over the Summer. I would definitely recommend taking this professor to anyone because he is a very nice gentleman. If I could take him again, I would because he does not make english class as boring as it could be!
Tough class, but he gives clear feedback and his assignments are very interesting. He's real easy to reach out to, and he's very helpful. Definitely cares about his students succeeding as long as you show you care about the class! Learned a lot and would definitely take him again.
A very funny excellent professor. He makes the course come alive. Very helpful.
Best english professor ever! Nice jokes, cool lectures, take home final!
Professor Brady truly strengthened my writing skills with his challenging course work, even with a ton of work this is one of the best online courses I've had. He is a critical grader, make sure to read the directions THOROUGHLY and save any documents he provides. There is a lot of peer editing partner work that will make a big impact on your grade
Since this was online, it was a little more work than the in-class would have been. He responds very quickly to emails which is helpful because sometimes his instructions are unclear. Also takes his sweet time to grade assignment and maybe over assigns papers. Definitely have to work for an A
Professor Brady is one of the best professors I have ever had. He is extremely clear about exactly what he wants. Pay attention to details and you will pass. I learned so much and he puts a lot of effort in his curriculum.
Professor Brady wants you to succeed in this class. He gives you everything you need and explains things very well. When taken as a summer class there are 4 essays including an 8-page final paper. There are many discussion boards at the start of the semester. As long as you have the time and put in the effort, you'll do well in this class.
Professor Brady is a very tough grader who requires an at times unrealistic workload from his students per week. His feedback is often not constructive until it is too late, and can come off as confrontational.
Many of the negative reviews of Prof. Brady are due to not adhering to academic level writing criteria and not communicating with him directly. He is very caring and the best English prof I've ever had. TONS of extra credit and easy A if you actually try. He has taught me more than any past English profs ever has. I would highly recommend.
Professor Brady is an incredible English teacher. His instructions are very clear. His expectations are very clear. He gives quick thorough feedback on course work and he is there with ideas to solve problems for his students. And I really learned a lot of English!
He really cares for his students! You have to work for your A, but his class is manageable. Its an online class, so the time you would spend in class, is spent at home. There was 5 essays because that's Saddleback's policy, and quite some reading, but the reading went with the discussions and essays. There were also quite a bit of discussions.
Working with Prof Brady was difficult. He is not very helpful, and his comments on your work can definitely come off abrasive to put it kindly. I dropped his class at the second week after struggling to figure out what he wanted on assignments after getting points taken off for not having a layout on a quiz (though instructions didn't ask for one)
You can def earn an A in this class. I have never had a teacher who offers so much extra credit and gives such valuable feedback (he is a Harvard Grad). He wants you to succeed not just in his class but when you transfer to a 4 year. He is very generous with his time, and if you do the work, he will be a great recommendation for transferring.
For a 17 week course, there was way too many assignments. Essays every week on Canvas discussion board, tons of reading and research required. More importantly, his explanations are confusing, his use of Canvas is poorly organized and many documents contradict themselves. Several spelling errors in documentation, unacceptable for an Eng class.
Dr. Brady was very responsive to all of my emails. He communicated very clearly the expectations of the class from the very start. The course is challenging, but if you put in the work and ask clarifying questions, you should do well. Dr. Brady also provided a wealth of resources that provided very specific details on what was expected.
Brady is a great teacher. He is thorough and takes the time on each student. There were multiple assignments due every week, however, the material was always interesting so I didn't mind it. He comments on assignments and communication was always prompt. I learned a lot, got an A , and enjoyed the work, what more can you ask from an online class?
WORST TEACHER IVE EVER HAD. COMPLETELY VAGUE IN ALL DIRECTIONS. I ASK FOR HELP, GIVES THE WORST FEEDBACK. I GOT MARKED DOWN ON SOMETHING THAT HE SAID I DIDNT HAVE TO DO WHEN I ASKED. COMPLETELY DEMEANING. MAKES ME FEEL STUPID WITH HIS RESPONSES. I TOOK ALL AP CLASSES I KNOW LITERATURE AND WRITING. HE DOES NOT. WISH I COULD SWITCH BUT ITS TOO LATE
Honestly, one of the worst experiences I've had as a college student was taking this guy's class. I don't know why he expects quality work when he gives sub-par feedback at the most. He's lazy and doesn't look at what has been done and grades accordingly. The point system is incredulous and his grades don't make any viable sense. Don't take him!
Alot of essays and writing but very lenient grading. All he cares is seeing if you improve.
Professor Brady is a great professor. He was a quick grader and the course was well organized and easy to follow. He also provided great feedback, which was simple to understand. I would recommend to anyone who wants to learn some literature and write about it well. The course load was perfect and the instructions were great and easy to understand.
As an online course, rigor was as expected. Per Professor's suggestion, printing structured weekly emails helps staying organized. Highly responsive, a definite plus in an online course. Plenty of feedback with constructive criticism aimed toward your best interests. Frequent DB essays aid in honing writing skills learned throughout the course.
Dr. Brady responds very quickly to e-mails and will help where he can. The course is not difficult, but you must read the material and put forth actual effort. I noticed that he gives breaks when he sees real effort and will walk you through the process when needed. Some of the coursework can be vague, but again, if you ask he will clear it up
DO NOT TAKE. Professor is vague and is passive aggressive with feedback. There is also ALOTT of homework and essays due every week literally back to back and not to mention they are always due on FRIDAYS OR SATURDAYS.
Professor Brady is the best English instructor I have ever had! His knowledge of English is beyond the norm. His course is planned and organized. His instructions are clear and he gives good feedback. This is an online course, so If you do not have the know-how to learn on your own in an online course, you will not do well in this course.
Professor Brady was a great professor and inspired me to become a better writer.
Super tough on grammatical errors and ironically has instructions riddled with spelling errors. Some of his feedback was vague and not too helpful which was big. Gives a ton of homework with 500+ word essays each week on top of the other homework. Constantly refers to his students as Bistro Friends which got old quickly.
I had a great time taking Professor Brady's class. He's a stickler on those grammar rules, but it made me a more disciplined and better writer. Professor Brady always gave good feedback and was accessible. It is clear that he cares deeply about his students, and wants the best for them.
He is very strict with grammar and the form of many papers, and his responses are very vague. If you don't understand his homework introduction and you ask him, he will mock you and being super mean like I steal his money, this is the worst professor I have ever met during my studies, Constantly refers to his students as Bistro Friends.
I have to say, Dr. Kenneth Brady is one of the most interesting and passionate professors I have ever had. Prepare to write a lot and get slightly mean, yet concise feedback on said writing. The "Rules of Refinement" are key to success. He is very passionate about his students and the course material. I took it for credit and wish it was easier!
Weekly discussion boards (which are in addition to other writing assignments) are each 500+ word mini essays. This course has a lot of long assignments, readings, and pages upon pages of instructions for ever assignment. Prof. Brady is nice enough, but I would not recommend this class unless you're willing to really work at it.
This course was by far the more difficult/stressful one I have ever taken in college. He is condescending and arrogant. He sends mass emails via canvas mocking students for not following his directions, although the directions are incredibly vague and condrict past instructions. Extremely heavy workload, I do not recommend this professor!!
This class is easy if you put in the work. He reminds me of the teacher from Whiplash, just way less extreme. He cares about his students and wants them to do great. He is strict, but I believe it is out of a love for english. Don't be scared to ask for help. I learned more in this class than any other english class I have taken. Feels like Harvard
The class can be tough, however, the time and energy commitments are worthwhile. Professor Brady provides resources to build a strong foundation as a writer and a thinker. Feedback and announcements are clear, helpful, well-organized, and showcase his passion for the subject.
It was hard to get an A but it is not impossible; just do the work correctly. Do not take the criticism personally, he is only trying to make you a better writer and he cares about his job. If you want an easy class, save yourself the time and don't take his class. He will mainly look for grammar and improvement between first and final drafts.
Learned a lot from Professor Brady. Honestly, the class was very difficult and frustrating at times, but if you put in the work and listen closely to his guidance and advice it is totally possible to do well. He is a tough critic and comes off a little rude, but is just trying to toughen you up to do well.
Rude, difficult to commicate with
This guy is absolutely the worst professor I ever had in my life. Avoid him if you can. He gives a bunch of tedious assignments that will never help you and he keeps trying to justify this bs by lecturing you about personal responsibilities. He keeps calling students bistro friends.
Professor Brady is the best English professor I've ever taken. He is fair with his assignments and with his grades. This is a college-level critical thinking and research paper course. Professor Brady makes you responsible for your part in the course, but he gives constant help and feedback. His assignments are fair. His directions are clear.
Dr. Brady is excellent! This man knows more about English than most of the previous English teachers I've had put together. He makes you be responsible. He chooses really good readings. He teaches the different writing tpyes. He gives good feedback. At the end of the semester, he gives you a fair grade, usually raised a little for participation.
ridiculous amount of work, multiple 4+ page papers, a massive 8+ page paper at the end, 2-3 500+ word mini essays each week with associated heavy reading for each mini essay. On top of that Dr. Brady has very complicated yet vague directions, difficult to communicate with, treats his students like second rate citzens, and is overall unpleasant
I read some of his others reviews here and legitimately some of his previous students have stockholm syndrome. I cannot understand how someone would rate this man highly. His class is over the top difficult and his instructions are confusing. For reference, I have a 3.8 and I have never gotten worse than a B in an english class in college before.
Horrible professor. Takes off an entire letter grade for a small item wrong with formatting. Will not tell you what is wrong with the formatt, instead forcing you to do hours of research trying to find the one semicolon out of place. poor instructions and teaching, also just so much work. Never have I worked so hard to learn so little
Just a very frustrating professor to deal with. His class is insanely time consuming and paper heavy. Also my advice is just take everything his says and imagine it from a grumpy old man, i.e. dont take it personally. He is very patronizing and snobby, and will not answer questions clearly instead sneering and insulting students. Do not take
Awesome English professor.
Professor Brady is an excellent English instructor. I've learned so much in his class and have had fun doing it. He's very welcoming and non-threatening. His work load is reasonable. He gives great feedback. He grades pretty easy. And he is loads of fun. I would take this course again if I could. I'm signing up for his English 1B course if I can.
Reading the other reviews and taking the class myself,it seems the opinion is really split. Some reviewers despise him, and others praise him. In my personal opinion, it is difficult to work with him and in addition he assigns crushing amounts of busy work. I personally would not take again. Perhaps Prof Brady is knowledgeable, but not interesting.
I wish I had read the reviews before I signed up for this class. Grading felt very punitive and the professor was extremely difficult to deal with. He says to email him anytime, but if you do he will be extremely condescending and demeaning. Professor says its "constructive," but it appears more like he enjoys belittling students. Avoid this class
Man, does Professor Brady have a way with words. My class was one of the most fun, interesting english classes I've ever had. He is constantly cracking jokes, keeping the whole class entertained, while also teaching the material. 99 times out of 100 you're let out early, and his grading was pretty solid. Wish I could take him again.
It was my worst experience in my four years. His communication is chaotic with many errors. Assignment directions were confusing, He's extremely rude and condescending when contacted. He wouldn't explain why points were deducted from assignments. He expects nothing less than perfection, reminding us with insulting comments... Theres more too--
Just finished English 1B with Dr. Brady. What a great class! As a required English class, i expected to read a lot and to write essays. And I did. But chose some really good reading materials and I learned tp write some very formal papers. He always expected me to learn the weekly materials and made me responsible for them. Nice person. Great prof!
Professor Brady was amazing! His lectures are never boring and he is always willing to stay longer after the class to help you with questions.Take this course with him if you want to actually learn how to write! The way he teaches1A is so helpful for your future courses.I'll definitely take more classes with him!He also always responds to emails.
There are writing assignments almost every week so be ready to write and proof read for any grammatical errors. Luckily he gives you time to complete the writings based on the length, but he is strict on his grammar and MLA rules. Overall, he is nice and a bit quirky and he provides video tutorials to help understand the assignments.
Ken Brady is THE nightmare professor you've been warned about. Does not grade on the quality of your writing but minute details. 2/5 bc he became slightly better, only bc he saw how belittling he was to me. Emailed me, "Whatever, lol" when I am trying to learn and improve. Take anybody else, TRUST ME. Prep to spend time decoding him, not learning!
Great professor! Took his time to check all our essays and gave good feedback. Took his time to teach us and help us learn how to write and I have never had that before!
most of the class time was spent talking about nonsense and he constantly is picking on his students. i went home with what felt like a novel of papers each day that i never would have to look at again. a lot of essays that mostly seemed to be graded very subjectively to his agenda and not on the actual quality.
This course pushed my limits. Dr. Brady is experienced, but everything posted & paper given was riddled with spelling/grammatical errors. Instructions are always unclear, and you'll lose an entire letter grade over the smallest of details. He will not give you feedback. He's interesting with a dry sense of humor, but this class is HARD.
Professor Brady! this course writes!! so much. Not much positive!!! to say. he reviews!!!! papers very hard. i am writing a review on here!!!!! lots of exclamation marks to get my point across. check! sentence!! structure!!! when!!!! writing!!!!!
Do not trust the reviews on here!! Dr. Brady is a difficult teacher and his class has soooo much writing. On top of that, he will not give you feedback on what matters instead taking points off for formatting and citations.Writing essays meant dissecting pages of citation rules to find the proper ways to cite stuff. Also he is no help through email
Papers are long, numerous, and the instructrions/rubris useless. Grades seem to be mostly on formatting and citations not content. A professor you wish you never met, just rude and difficult whenever messaged. If you do not like teaching and working with students quit, stop ignoring your students needs
Professor Brady is wonderful and I really enjoyed his class. Subjects were interesting and he does a great job of making things understandable and entertaining. Is always available outside for help and is quick to get back to me when I have questions. Loved this class and this professor.
Professor was an english teacher yet every single assignment or email he had ever written had various spelling mistakes. Would give nothing but positive feedback on an assignment and mark you 20 points off for no reason. Would make you write 2-3 essay-style 500+ word discussion posts a week and himself take weeks to grade any of them. Nonsensical.
I'm not sure about the negative ratings here. I've taken Dr. Brady's Eng 1A in-class course and his Eng 1B online course. He's a great professor. Knows more about English than any teacher I've ever had. Funny man too. Very thorough in pointing out errors, but grades easy. These people here are just Haters. He's a good person and a great professor.
I came on here at the beginning of my English 1B course with him last semester with the intent of giving him an average score just because the course is a required course. But Dr. Brady changed my attitude on that. He demanded a lot from me. He made me work. He made me write papers, but this is a writing class. He is a good teacher and motivator.
hard hard class, manyyy many papers. difficult and unclear grader. hard to ask questions and never responsive over email. avoid if you can
hard class, poor instructions, very little feedback worth looking at. Professor is also just very hard to tolerate, rude in emails and messages.
We're near the end of our course. We've only have the final paper. I've never had an English teacher as nice or as helpful as Dr. Brady. He doesn't do the work for us. He makes us think and work for ourselves. We write papers, but it's an upper division writing course. He knows so much about writing. He's awesome. He made a GER course exciting.
Wow! Listen to the haters on here. Professor Brady has a good online course and is an amazing teacher. It is a writing course, so we do a 500+ word mini-essay every week (not 1500+). We also do five essays in the class, as the syllabus tells us. He also has an amazing video covering the course content and requirements to start the semester.
so hard and for no reason
Great course. Great professor.
Professor Brady is a good person and he teaches a great course. Take him if you want to improve your writing.
Fantastic professor; has a quirky personality and a fun format for his ENG1B class. Helpful and willing to answer questions when needed. Prepare yourself to adhere religiously to his "rule for refinement" guide for formal essay writing if you want to get a good grade and enjoy the class. Expect a heavy -but interesting- workload.
I would not retake him, definitely material to be learned but buried underneath a strange dude and a strange class. Picks on students and is very unpleasant, took forever to respond to emails or would respond with like 3 words like "yea sure ok." A professor that made a hard class soo much harder than it already was with his bad communication
I just read five awesome review of Dr. Brady and his course, and then I read this 'Awful" review. Dr. Brady respected. He makes you read. He makes you think. He makes you write. He has clear expectations, good feedback. You write five essays in a 17 week composition course.. He gives many assignments to keep a high grade. And his feedback is great!
I never met him bc it was online, but he is extremely rude. I emailed him about a mistake for the first assignment of the semester and he replied “goodnight, alright?” Everytime I emailed him his responses were condescending and sarcastic. There's essays every week for discussion posts and as assignments and he doesn't grade them easily. Tough!
His class is so hard for no reason. I don't know what the good reviews are talking about. There's multiple essays every week and they're graded harshly. The directions are always confusing and he cares so much about format. He replies so rude to emails. He just made the class so difficult. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
I don't know what these negativde reviews are about. Dr. Brady is kind and caring. He always responded to my quesiton reasonably and helpfully. He does not require one or two essays per week. He requires five essays in the semester. Because we are an online course, we do write discussions every week, but they are not essays. Good man. Good course.
Dr. Brady was one of my favorite professors, he may be a tough grader, but that is because he wants you to do well. It is important to read through the assignments he gives you, and if you struggle, he always helps out. He is always very caring and brought us Christmas treats on the last day of class. I highly recommend this professor.
There is not a lot of work, BUT he is very sarcastic and unhelpful when emailing him. Instead of answering any questions he gets mad that you even ask anything. He mixes up his classes and posts 4 different requirements for one assignment and gets mad if you do the wrong one. He's so strict, he took off 11 pts because I forgot a comma and a space.
Professor Brady took an interest in me from the time we introduced ourselves in our first discussion thread, "Coffee, Tea, and Me." From that point on, Professor Brady worked hard to help me get into the Saddleback Collehe Nursing Program, the number one nursing program in the country, while still demanding excellence from in my work in the course.
Very sarcastic rude and unhelpful. It appears the attitude is reserved for his online students. All students should be treated equally and with professionalism. Class content was poorly described but overall an easy class. Just a bit writing heavy, so be prepared if that's not your strong suit, he will definitely make you learn.
I don't know why my rating disappeared on here, but I'm doing it again. Prof. Brady is an incredible person. First, I've never met anyone who knows as much about English as he does. And second, Prof. Brady worked with me for six months to get me into Princeton University as a transfer after community college. He's the best and so are his courses.
If you are naturally good at writing and pay attention to details, you will get a good grade. I got 100% in almost all my assignments. He gives helpful feedback, answers his emails fast. Work load is moderate as expected incollege.I agree with the comments saying that he is rude sometimes, but I ignored it because at least he answered my question.
Unclear instructions for some assignments because video lectures do not match the condensed version of the course. He also replies to assignments with critics with subtle sarcasm. I emailed him a question because of the confusion of the timeline, and while he did so in a condescending manner. Not worth the headache!!
