talks very fast
has a lot of interest in his students and wants to be beneficial to them.. only flaw is that he talks too fast
He is the best math professor I had. Explains everything really well. Gives solutions to all the tests. Is genuinely concerned about his students.
Excellent professor. Very good, clear lectures. He genuinely cares about his students and how much they learn.
Very enthusiastic, engaged with the material and with the students. Extremely willing to go further in depth to explain topics.
One of the nicest professors in the math department, who cares about getting it right and educating his students. Recommended.
He was a great professor who was very clear in his lectures and his tests were extremely fair. He stated he doesn't like to to put tricks on tests, and really cares whether or not you are learning.
He is a great professor. He made calculus interesting, which is very difficult to do. He also gave students almost instant feedback after midterms, quizzes and finals.
one of the best math profs ever! made calc easy to understand and very helpful
He is a great professor and is very animated about math and teaching, genuinely cares about getting the material across. He talks fast but it doesn't interfere with understanding. Very helpful and approachable.
best math prof i've had. very energetic and helpful. even gave printout of notes for one unit!
He puts a lot of effort into his lectures, but they still bored me to death enough to make me not go to the last quarter of the lectures. All of the important stuff he lectured about was gone over again during quiz section anyway.
Amazing Professor. He put so much effort into teaching 1st quarter calculus. He made the subject much more interesting than it could have been. Extremely helpful, but speaks a little fast when excited. TA,Nathan Grigg, was great too.
Having had some bad profs since Bube makes me realize how great a teacher he really was. I wish he would teach me for 126 next quarter, he is one of the best teachers I've had at the UW.
The only thing better than his teaching style is the fact that he gets so excited about math. LoL. Even if you find this class easy/boring/stupid you will never fall asleep because he is just so funny. He really is a good teacher and answers questions very very well. The only problem is he might get a little sidetracked (and it happens a lot!)
#1 MATH PROF. I can't really say enough about how good he is. I'm confident that it's a pretty common opinion that he teaches well. He puts so much effort into helping us learn and is always excited and happy about math lol. He's a friendly guy, very approachable. Go to his office hours if you need help. His tests are very reasonable.
One of the best math professors out there. He is very enthusiastic about teaching and puts a lot of effort in making sure the class understands the material. On top of that he is extremely nice. His midterms are fair and he prepares the class well for them. Take a class with this professor if possible.
He is the best of the best. He makes hard things easy and interesting. only problem was his test was too easy and the average was too high... small mistakes can ruin your grade. Besides that he is AWESOME
This guy's awesome! Always into his lecture and always upbeat and funny. Definitely one of, if not the best.
BEST TEACHER AT UW! Made calc super easy and super understandable, is incredibly excited about teaching it and loves to help kids during class and answer questions no matter how "easy" or "dumb" they are. Best teacher by far at UW and nicest as well, geniunely cares for math and his students. Tests fair and not impossible.
great prof. clear lecture. exams are not too hard. make sure to attend lecture and take notes.
He is SUPER excited about math, and he always make full use of his time. He still gives out examples even though there is only 2 minutes left of class. Overall, he is an awesome professor, but the average of the class was really high.
THE best teacher I've ever had at UW! He explains calculus really, really well and he is extremely helpful in office hrs. He was willing to stay 30 min longer than his actual office hour to talk to me about the hard math concepts.
Love this guy!So energetic about math that it truly made me WANT to learn it. Explained things extremely well and did tons of examples for notes, which is really helpful. Tests are extremely fair also. I hope my next math teacher is half as good as Ken. Also, extremely helpful after class, and seems like one of the most genuinely nice people ever.
Definitely one of the best professors I've had! Knows what he is talking about and is genuinely a nice guy. If we need a concept explained more thoroughly he will do so and the bagillion examples he goes through are extremely helpful! The tests are fair. Hope i get another professor like him.
Professor Bube is a very nice man whose enthusiasm for math is apparent. He is very willing to answer any questions that students have.
I really like him as a professor, I feel like I really have learned.
Bube is an awesome prof, and he actually cares about his students. Go to his office hours, b/c he is willing to help you. He talks fast, but he explains things very clearly! We usually don't know which prof teaches which section for calc until after registration, but if you can take his other classes, I definitely recommend it!
Very easy to understand, good speaker. Gives fair tests that are not overly difficult.
He's so nice and bubbly! He definitely cares about his student and even though the subject is something I really despise, he always makes Calculus,if not interesting, less painful! Easy quizzes, fairly easy midterms, and useful lectures! If you have a math 125 requirement like me, sign up for his class. You will be so glad you did.
Talks a bit fast and rushes through examples if he is running out of time. Overall he is very enthusiastic, goes over helpful examples, and even gave us a Techniques of Integration Worksheet which was extremely helpful!
I had him for 124 and 125. He was really easy to understand and he's really enthusiastic about helping and actually teaching the material.
Really helpful!!
He is very enthusiastic and helpful! The tests are not too hard and he wants his students to do well, great teacher!!
I had him for Math 125 last year. when I came back and visited him a year later, he called out my name the moment I walked into his office and told me that he still had my final exam. Very nice and helpful professor who really inspired me to be a Mathematics major.
Bube is an amazing professor. He was such an enthusiastic man and was excellent at explaining the concepts. He was a great teacher to start my college experience off with. It's been a while since I was in his class, but I feel like I should share his amazingness! :D I almost failed his first midterm but I was able to get a 3.1 by the end. XD
Bube is great! So organized, so helpful, and just a genuinely kind man. If you are ever confused, do not hesitate to go to his office hours because he will make things crystal clear. If you've taken calculus in high school, this class should be cake.
What a sweet man! I am no fan of calculus, but his enthusiasm during lecture & office hours made this class worthwhile. His tests are straightforward (esp. if you look at the old tests on the website) & his examples, while long, are worthwhile- so go to lecture!
*Took course last winter (2011). Awesome professor for a normally hard class! Great explanation and slows course so it can be understood. Even handed out "integration explorer" study sheet for test and general overview! Also, being funny helps too.
He was very clear on what he was saying. So clear that he repeated himself many times. He's the first math prof ive had that spoke perfect english. He has a tenancy to talk more about how to take tests and the method of problem solving more than actual math, but, for me,that was really helpful.Get him if you can. It will make a hard class easier.
Professor Bube was so kind and truly enjoys teaching! Sometimes he goes a bit fast but is SO organized in presenting class notes.. I love his handwriting (unlike other sloppy teacher) and he is very good about making sure all topic are covered. Tests are difficult but not that bad.
Dr. Bube is one of the best professors at the UW. He's funny and basically the sweetest, smartest grandpa guy on campus! Go to his office hours; he is so helpful and great at explaining! I <3 CALCULUS!!
Best math prof at UW I've ever had! If only all math profs were like this, he is so nice and carefully explains everything. I took his online course and the lectures were fantastically detailed and helpful beyond comparison, especially when I could re watch as many times as needed. I miss this guy so much, I really cannot survive math without him.
This is the first professor I met at UW and the best one as well. Super responsible and fast e-mail responses. In-class instruction is clear and helpful. UW should treasure such a great professor
Great class!
He's a great teacher. He explains things clearly. I wish I can take his classes next quarter again!
He's very excited about calculus, and encourages further investigation if your interested in certain problems and theorems. He puts in a lot of effort to make sure you're on the right path, like giving you his notes on integration techniques, as well as squeezing in another example problem in class. Coursework is still a pain, but he's a good man.
Online math is hard, since math is often very getting-help reliant, but Bube makes it easier. Very clear notes and good organization. He's a good professor, and if you have to take online math as a last resort, go ahead and take it with him. Even if it's online math, still take it.
Probably one of the best math professors at the UW. While other professors try to fail you so they can laugh, Bube tries to help you understand math. His midterms are very reasonable and doable if you study. If more professors were like him, I would reconsider leaving the UW
He is alright... UW just doesn't have a really good prof. for MATH 125 in general...
He's the best teacher ever for online math. I thought I wouldn't enjoy taking online math. He always replied questions or problems through Piazza fast enough. He's really helpful with answering problems.
Bube's lecture videos are very clear. He is overall, a good professor. I never went in for office hours, but he seems like a nice person. However, his midterms are not easy if you don't have access to his past midterms. He basically recycles midterms with different numbers. Access to midterms can be are available at StudySoup.
I would recommend all my friends to take his math class. Even though this is an online class but he made video exactly same as in-class lecture. He explained the matrerials very well and if he's the most helpful professor in office hour i have ever met. if he teach all the calculus theory I would take all of his classes.
Dr. Bube is really clear in his handwriting, and he gives good explanation for conception, these are both important in online course, and he did it extremely well. He also gave quick reply to the questions posted on discussion board. He's the best instructor I've ever met!
If I were to take math 125 again I would not take it online. The class was very challenging, but Mr. Bube is always there for his students during office hours. The textbook was not necessary.
In my opinion his lectures were boring. However when I went to his office hour he was super warm and welcoming. Clearly passionate about his students learning. He is a great guy, but the class is a little boring, and the lectures didn't have double speed, which was one of the reasons I took the class online. He is super helpful, in office hours.
Amazing teacher. I really like how kind and concise he is - really easy to follow in his lectures. He goes to the bare bone of everything and tries to dissect a topic from the inside out, so take him and be persistent in doing practice problems. You will succeed with Kenny. He loves to help, so always ask questions, and visit office hours! :)
If possible, I would take all my math classes from him. Very approachable and patient in office hours and truly wants you to succeed. Quick to answer student questions on online discussion board (unique to online classes). Lectures are very helpful and set you up to do well on tests. One of the easier Math 125 professors, would highly recommend!
Hands down the best professor I've had so far. Extremely nice & is willing to help when he can. Gives out a ton of extra credit & his lectures (though I took this class online) were somewhat length but never longer than an hour & a half. Would highly recommend taking math 125 online with him! Easily 4.0 the class
Probably the best math 125 instructor at UW. Don't let the fact that this is an online class scare you away because his online lectures are detailed and he explains things much better than most in class lecturers I've had. His midterms are fair and easy if you watch lectures and understand the hw. He's replies fast to hw questions which is nice.
One of the best professors I met in UW. His lectures are clear and tests are not so tough. If you need extra help, he is always there for you.
He was the best math professor I have every had a chance to work with! I would actually recommend people to take the online section for MATH 125 if he is teaching. His notes are extremely well-organized and he provides help in a very quick and clear way. Tests are not so bad because he prepares you for them well.
One of the nicest guys ever. His lectures can be complicated but you can always get help. His quizzes are easy. But his first midterm is notoriously more diffcicult compared to others in the dept and then he tones it down for the second midterm. With the common final it is hard to make up the grade. Also he does numerical grading, so no curve.
Prof Bube is the best math professor I have ever had. Take him if you can! He goes through every topic at the perfect pace, not too fast but also not too slow. He posts his precious midterms so you can study and it is super helpful! Also very nice during office hours
The best math teacher ever! He went through everything so carefully. And he wrote notes so in detail (which means you have to take a lot of notes lol). But everything worth it. Tests are mediocrely difficult. But as long as you do a lot of old exams (especially his own old exam!!!), you will find the exams not hard at all. :)
Professor Bube was a great lecturer. The most helpful thing in his class was to do HIS practice exams multiple times before midterms because they were nearly identical and go over his quizzes if you have time. Overall great professor.
Great teacher, caring and explains everything clearly. If you want to take 464/465, take with him.
Bube is the sooooo amazing!!!! His lecture was clear and his notes was detailed. He really cared about students and gave a lot of advice on different kinds of questions. His midterms are easy (which means you have to be careful). Following his instructions you will get a good grade. Definitely want to take his math courses again!
Loved the way he presents materials, gave me a new found passion for math. Definitely recommend.
I took his class before this pandemic. He was very caring and I LOVED his notes. They are very clear and legible. You should definitely take his class!
He is a great lecturer. However, he is lazy. His class is async, and his course notes very rarely helped with the homework. You must read the textbook ch. in order to do the homework. This isn't bad necessarily. However, the course notes and uploaded lectures have nothing to do with the weekly assignments, very aggravating.
For a calc class, Bube does an AMAZING job! He is very caring and wants his students to succeed. There is a lot of webassign hw, but the questions are very helpful for his weekly check in quizzes. The tests are pretty hard but very similar to the past exams that he gives us access to. Highly recommend prof. Bube to make Math 125 a little better.
The reason I rate this professor low is that he is just asking too much from students. If we have an exam on Thursday, the content would be everything till the content that we just learned that week. Also, his hw in WebAssign is just painful (especially trig). We have spent so much effort in math, and he just makes our life more painful
Kenneth Bube is an amazing prof. He genuinely cares about his students. He understands their difficulties and tries to help, Amazing lectures beatiful handwriting and detailed explanations, his reviews and explanations are very clear and easy to follow. If you get a chance sign up for his class WITHOUT HESITATION
There was a lot of WebAssign but he covers some problems in his lectures. His recorded lectures are super long but he does teach good strategies to approaching problems that you will see on exams. He doesn't provide you with his old exams but he allows you to bring your own notes sheet.
AMAZING PROF. Really cares about students. Detailed lectures. Do take if you get a chance
Dr. Bube is literally an angel sent to the UW. He is probably the most caring professor I have ever had at the UW. I strongly recommend you take his class. He not only is great an giving lectures, but his lectures are straight forward and actually help you with your assignments. He is accessible all the time, and really cares about his students.
Take this class to inflict an unnecessary amount of stress upon yourself. Midterms and exams do not reflect the homework. Beware of out-of-this-world averages and non-existent tutelage.
Great professor, was really helpful in answering the homework problems. The tests were not too difficult if you studied the provided practice exams. Overall would recommend.
Lectures are definitely very thorough, he spends a long time going over things and will revisit old topic often, however most of his lectures go overtime, some being about 1:20 long. (I took the online version of his class so I cound't just walk out)
The calc series here sucks and if like me you got stuck with online math don't worry too much. Bube has very good lectures and is detailed. The accessibility to ask questions if limited to a discussion board which isn't ideal. Bube also doesn't give us his practice tests. If you take this class watch the lectures and use the math study center.
It was a very difficult class, but his lectures were very helpful. I would almost choose his async class over a mid, in-person class. I don't blame my bad grade completely on him. However, his videos usually go over an hour and they look like they're from the 2000s. But he's a cute old man that has funny comments during lecture :)
sweet old guy, one of the best math teachers I've ever had. you will never regret taking a class with him
Even though this was an online course Professor Bube gave us really great lecture videos. You can tell by the way he describes the concepts that he genuinely cares and wants you really understand it. He made 125 tolerable
I was hesitant about taking a difficult course online, especially with pre-recorded lectures but Prof Bube was very clear and had great explanations in all his lectures. Camera/mic quality was subpar, and lectures were quite long, but nonetheless good lectures. The class was difficult, but this was due to the topics being covered.
He doesn't really teach, lectures function as office hours, occasionally he will attempt to go over an idea but relies on his hand written notes ( outside of a few excerpts of the text these handwritten cursive notes function as the primary source of learning in this class ). Nice professor, easier exams.
He cares so much and is really enthusiastic about this class but it is math125 so don't expect it to be super easy. Midterms weren't that bad, but also wouldn't say they were super easy. But he is really attentive to the discussion board and responds super quickly to questions and explains really well. Lectures feel rushed but he shares the notes.
He's a very kind professor and seems to care about his students, the first midterm went well but the average for our second was below a 50. I learned a lot so I don't have anything bad to say but buddy needs to retire lol
Great professor. Shows that he cares about the students and is easy to talk to. Lectures are important and very helpful for the course. Use the office hours! This is a tough class, with the average being 50s and 60s on midterms and finals, but his teaching style is better than others.
Very nice dude who cares a lot about math and his students. His lectures include tons of detail that is sometimes over the top, but he is able to answer any question with that same detail. Great, highly organized online resources, including all his notes, and discussion board. Tests are average difficulty compared to other professors.
Math 125 is designed to be hard, but Professor Bube truly wanted his students to succeed. There were lots of resources, his lectures were interesting, and he was quick to respond to questions on the discussion board. His lectures were interesting & I would highly recommend going to his office hours! If you seek out help, it's possible to succeed.
Though lectures can feel rushed, he's enthusiastic and makes tricky math more digestible. He's always open to questions about lectures, homework, or tests. His passion, especially for a dense subject like Calculus 2, is clear and consistent. He is very experienced and highly recommended. Note: tests make up 80% of your grade.
