Keeps the students best interest in mind; however, it is almost impossible to talk to him about grading clarification due to the high volume of people in his office asking questions (he teaches 2 giant physics classes over summer). Exams are hard but doable. At the end of the day he is fair but you must work hard to do well.

A lot of homework in this class via MasteringPhysics and Challenge Homeworks. The tests are difficult (class average around 65% and they are written to produce this grade average). Its also a flipped class, so you're expected to learn the material before lecture, then they touch on certain things during. They say, 'don't worry, 50% is passing'- some of us need to do more than 'just pass'. You really do have to teach yourself in this series.

The bipolar nature of this webpage is no accident. Walsh is decent. This class however is the worst class I have ever taken. I have 211 and 213 credit from ap and studying for those was like ambrosia compared with the weeping and gnashing of teeth from this class. DO NOT take this class. CS is a far more forgiving route if you're in bio.

The workload for this class is insane. Between daily pre/post lecture quizzes, 2-3 challenge hws a week, weekly quizzes, labs, and watching his lecture videos before class, I'm drowning in homework. I have to teach myself everything and I don't understand material, and I feel constantly behind. KC is a cool guy, but this set up is awful.

Insane workload, I understand that it's a 5 credit class, but his content and way of teaching had me in the physics study room for at least 10 hours each week for just the homework assignments. I can tell he's passionate about teaching, and it's nice that the final isn't the most important thing, but the class is just so much work for little reward

Worst class I have ever taken. THE ABSOLUTE WORST. No organization, zero clarity on literally EVERYTHING, an excessive amount of homework that did nothing by confuse me further. The lectures aren't recorded (????? I thought this was supposed to be an online class??) so if you have a day job...good luck. You'll be teaching yourself everything. AVOID

KC is a great lecturer and very passionate but the nature of the class makes it difficult to enjoy. I learned more in the wormhole with the grad ta's than from lecture. There is an excessive amount of assignments so there is constantly work to be done for the class, but there are a lot of resources available to get help.

These are the most horrendous classes in my academic career, which is quite disappointing as I liked physics before this. The classes are run like they are their own program outside of OSU. Walsh is distant and his assignments feel like he is playing stump the chump. Assignment can take from 30min-6hrs ea and there are typically 15 per wk. Awful!

KC's lectures are a breath of fresh air bc he actually explains the topics well/in depth. If you come to all quizbits you will get an A for them (don't have to get the right answers, just know the material/apply it). W/ that, you can get a C on the final and end up w a B in the class. Assignments are not rly mandatory, just treat them as exam prep.

KC is a great prof and he cares about the students. But the PH 20X series is ROUGH. Don't take with other hard classes because you'll spend all your time on this one. The grading structure is somewhat forgiving but you have to complete everything for the best chance at an A. Best advice? Find a physics or engineering friend and beg for their help.

I would not recommend this class through ecampus. The workload is so intense. Exams are tough and the best way to study for them is by looking at old exams. I've been a straight-A student and this class has made me pray for a C. KC is a great professor who is jazzed about physics, but the structure of this class through ecampus is not it.

He is a very outgoing/caring person! He gives his best at advice for exam prep. But, The exams are very challenging/graded roughly by the TAs. Lecture material is disorganized which made me really struggle given that physics is already so complex. Was really nervous I wouldn't pass, but was able to more than barely pass w/ the help of a tutor.

You'll survive, and my best advice is go to LAHHH every Monday and Thursday for challenge hw- its more helpful than the wormhole. Everyone is freaking out on this page but its hard to fail

do NOT take this class. there's at MINIMUM 15 hours of homework each and every week, and the lectures are useless because the professor expects you to infer things on your own and the lecture material doesn't align with what's in the quizzes. if you struggle with math at all, TAKE ANOTHER CLASS!!!

Physics can be a tough class, but KC is a fantastic professor. Every topic on exams is covered in lecture and recitation. Homework problems help a great deal in understanding the content. He grades leniently, giving lots of partial credit. Lectures are engaging and the course is organized to optimize learning and retention.

Go in knowing physics because you're not really getting the ability to fully comprehend the material in this class. It could be different in person but, online you are really left with few materials from the teacher to understand key components. Exams and midterms never match the study materials given and they are heavily weighted.

Very, VERY unorganized. Refuses to use the Canvas system that OSU uses, and instead made his own, which doesn't work half the time, and is not intuitive to use either. On top of that, there are 4 other websites we had to use, all of which provided a function that was available in Canvas already! Lots of errors in the material, as well.

Physics is a living hell because he layers tons of work + harsh grading + unclear yet very long instructions. Everything you don't want in a class is here. He creates a bad faith relationship with students and talks down to us in mass emails, like saying we are "lucky" to not get 0s on a 3 hour assignment just for not using his preferred notation.

Get ready to feel accomplished turning in a lab only to receive a zero because you made one small error. Get ready to get low midterm grades for not using HIS notation. I turned in more assignments for this single class than I did for my other two science classes per week. Question after question. I haven't slept in days. Good luck.

You want a social life while taking this class? THINK AGAIN. We just had our midterm 2 and he gave over 30% students a zero on a question that was worth 8 POINTS for not using HIS notations. So if you learn physics from outside resources don't dare use it in exams. He also mentioned that for the next term who take this class he will (part 1)

enforcing the rule of HIS notations more strictly. If you choose to use outside notations then you must complete an oral assessment with the academic dishonesty department which will most likely favor his ruling over yours so it's pointless. it's ridiculous because it's as small as not using “x” for displacement and instead using “d” good luck!
