Keeps the students best interest in mind; however, it is almost impossible to talk to him about grading clarification due to the high volume of people in his office asking questions (he teaches 2 giant physics classes over summer). Exams are hard but doable. At the end of the day he is fair but you must work hard to do well.

K.C Walsh is the best teacher I have had at Oregon State. Let me tell you, when learning about physics, the teacher REALLY matters. He or she needs to be a great teacher for you to succeed, and K.C Walsh is the clearest teacher I have had when it comes to learning a tough subject.

Good professor, Young but definitely knows what he's talking about.

If you want to succeed in this class, you have to be willing to put the time in (sometimes up to 40 hours a week). He's very helpful though and can explain things well. Homework and Tests are very challenging.

KC is an awesome professor. I was really dreading PH 211 because my boyfriend hated it. He must have just had a bad teacher, because I actually enjoy this class, and I attribute it all to KC. My only complaint is that he doesn't give very structured notes, so you have to be on your toes in order to record important things.

Professor Walsh really is a good teacher. Physics is going to be difficult no matter who you take it with, but K.C. makes it easier to understand. His lectures are actually entertaining so he makes going to class fun. There is a good amount of homework in this class, so convince yourself that physics is cool, and doing the HW will be more bearable.

K.C. was an awesome professor, really passionate about what he does and about student's learning. The course is difficult as it should be, but he makes class fun and interesting, I will now think of the x,y,z yamika whenever I add vectors.

KC is an awesome teacher. He writes fairly difficult tests, gives out more homework than any class I have ever had, but he teaches the material well enough so that any person should be able to get a B in his class. I highly recommend him.

I like KC's teaching style because he clearly identifie the most important concepts (such as equations) and explain why students should care about the subject. There's lots of homework, nice balance between written and online. You can be certain that if you put in the effort to understand the homework, you'll be fine on the tests.

Though KC had very high expectations of students, assigned a large amount of homework, and his tests were fairly difficult, I enjoyed him as a teacher. He did lots of examples in class and went over concepts thoroughly. With KC as a teacher, I finally understood physics!

Although challenge homework is a good source to practice, it's way too hard for a beginner. I also wished exams were a bit easier. But after all, he's a good teacher.

He's tough, but fair. Quite a bit of studying and homework is expected of you, but it's worth it. His tests are hard, but they don't have anything unexpected. He mainly tests you on your ability to synthesize everything you've learned and "put all the pieces together," so to speak. A great learning experience overall.

This guy is great. Everyone I talked to said that the 21x series teachers are terrible, but he is the exception. He is an engaged and fair grader. He assigns a lot of homework, but it will prepare you for the test. I used the Masteringphysics.com homework to learn the material, and the challenge homework to thoroughly understand. Highly Recommend.

This guy is a great professor. Be ready to do work, though. Tests are hard but fair, same with the homework. He keeps things interesting in the classroom as he is not only very smart but also pretty funny at times. Overall, definitely recommended if you want to take physics.

Incorporated multiple ways of learning into his lectures. He would introduce each topic by going through it then working out multiple problems dealing with the topic. Had an interactive part of his lectures keeping everyone involved.

He was energetic and obviously enjoys his subject-keeping us all engaged during lectures. He was always trying to focus us and what we were learning, whereas some professors forget about their students. I would highly recommend that people take his course if given the opportunity.

Excellent at explaining things, which is important in a physics class. Is passionate about his work and capable of getting others interested too, won't put you to sleep in lecture. A lot of homework, not always clear when it's due, but it is good prep for the tests. Difficult class, but one you'll learn a lot from.

Very helpful teacher. Tests are incredibly fair and homework is both helpful and based off of examples gone over in class. Grading system rewards those who put in the effort to learn physics.

Great teacher. Explains what he expects you to know and sticks to that. teaches in a way that is concise so as not to waist the time you spend in lectures. Lectures are not mandatory but I went to every one and thought they were all time well spent.

Before taking KC's class, I had dreaded physics due to all of the horror stories I heard regarding bad professors. However, KC completely changed my outlook on physics in just 10 weeks! He is a professor who genuinely cares about his students: he wants them to not only master physics, but to enjoy it as well. KC is a phenomenal teacher.

KC is easily the best physics teacher I've had. He explains things well in class and is willing to give extra help if you go see him. The class is very hard, and he writes hard tests, but he won't send you in unprepared. You get 10 pages front and back of notes on tests, and the homework prepares you pretty well.

He is very clear on the instructions and what is expected of student. Teaching method is very good and can be easily understood. Reasonably flexible when it comes to hw due date. If you do your work regularly his tests are not going to be hard(curve balls are minor if any at all).

You need to get 50% of the clicker questions correct to get full points, often gives "redemption" questions for more difficult questions. Very helpful professor.

Great teacher in my opinion. He knows how to talk to a class. Presents the material in a clear message. Also does a lot of example problems which is extremely helpful. His tests are very difficult but makes you learn the material. KC seems intimidating but is a very approachable person.

This class was one of the most challenging I've taken so far for homework load, but all that effort pays off in the end. KC is more than willing to help, but doesn't hold your hand through it, which I like because it creates more independent learnering. He is an excellent lecturer and keeps the class interesting as well.

About the only problem I faced was he doesn't post homework grades on blackboard and there is no real way to know for sure what your grade is, unless you have all your work in hand, which between 600 students is unlikely to happen.

He gives really tough homework and pretty tough test problems but his grading scale is curved. I feel like i have improved a lot in math and physics after taking his class and he has been very good at explaining physics to us.

KC is a great professor. his lectures are very clear and to the point. He expects you to read the book and I'm sure it would help but he covers almost everything so well in class that it's almost not needed. His work is a bit harder than I would have expected but it was worth it. I have learned a lot this term.

I understand the concept of homework helping students learn but there's an optimal amount that exists and KC Walsh certainly exceeds that limit. He surpassed the threshold of "learning from hw" to "just getting it done." Also, his tests are extremely difficult; beyond the scope of his lectures. Otherwise, he's helpful and a decent lecturer.

KC was definitely the best teacher I had this term, the only problem that I had was that he could sometimes get a bit overwhelming with the online homework so don't wait until the day it's due to do it, other than that he's a great teacher that really knows his stuff, and I highly recommend him to anyone that has to take physics

He pushes students to learn really hard stuff but knows that it's difficult and empathizes with the class, which makes it easy to stay motivated. Tests are hard, but challenge your understanding of the subject rather than ability to memorize formulas (multiple pages of notes are allowed).

Very hard tests and lots of HW, but the class is on a heavy curve. You learn alot in this class, beyond just the fundamentals. KC is able to get the point across with clarity. One of the best teachers I have had at Oregon State. The curve offsets the challenge of the tests and hw, and in the end you learn a great deal. Highly recommended.

The lectures make a lot of sense and really help your understanding. However, there was far too much hw. With the amount of homework given in this class we should have been getting 6 credit hours. The hw was so difficult and lengthy that it didn't really help my understanding of the material. Also, mastering physics has a lot of wrong answers.

KC is an excellent professor. His lectures are interesting and engaging. He is approachable and willing to meet with students to address questions. This professor is very good at explaining physics. He used remote clickers in his lecture which i personally don't like and he assigns a lot of mastering physics homework, which i don't like either. His lectures are interesting and thorough, though and i think his style of explanation really helped me understand physics concepts

Very difficult homework, but they really prepare you for the exams. Luckily the homework doesn't count too much toward your grade. Very good at explaining concepts and very helpful. Exams are hard but if you go to class and study, you will be well prepared. Highly recommended.

KC is an excellent professor. He tells you that this is a hard class and he has high expectations, but is one of the best at making difficult concepts very clear and easy to understand. The Mastering Physics helped by making students read the book, and his Challenge Homework was great at preparing us for real world problems. Highly recommend.

KC Walsh is pretty much a beast. Not an easy class by any stretch, though it is quite thorough and incredibly interesting. If you just want to pass a physics class, I'd recommend someone else. If you actually want to LEARN some physics, KC is your man.

Very difficult class, but he presents the material well, and keeps it interesting with occasional demos and videos. The class has a wider grade curve, where 50%+ is passing, which helps with the difficulty.

Good teacher. Lectures are interesting, as they consist of fun demonstrations. However, homework (online and physical) take up a lot of time. Does not help too much on exams, but helps you get the concepts down. Exam grades are usually low, but KC curves very generously. No reason to dislike him yet.

This guy is a dude, and he abides. Awesome teacher, covers material in a clear and structure manner. There is online course work which gets you prepared with the basics for his BEASTLY homework. These bad boys will take you many hours but once completed (granted that you tried and didn't copy other people) you will have a complete understanding.

I hope KC is reads this. I believe he is a great teacher, but the amount of work he expects from us is towards the unreasonable side. If you want us to do book problems so badly, take the time to give us a sheet of 'suggested' problems, so we know what you want us to know from the book. As for the challenge homework, keep it the same as it is.

PH 212 with Walsh is a challenging class since the homework is much harder than the problems he gives on the exams. So, if you can do the homework, you will be fine with the exam. Overall, I think he's the best physics professor at OSU.

Great teacher and very passionate about the materials. The class would be great except for labs. The labs are like the potential energy well where no light escapes. The labs are what makes me hate physics, they are mundane and a waste of time. The labs are the reason I would not recommend this class to anyone.

Kenneth is a good teacher in all. The class is hard, but you can pass with a little over 50%. So all in all a good teacher for a hard subject.

Took this course over the summer along with an anatomy lab. I wouldn't recommend taking anything else along with this class. There is a ton of work involved that is required and even more if you expect to do well. Class averages on the mid terms were 56 and 62ish if I remember correctly.

The diamond in the rough of physics teachers at OSU. He treats his students like adults and with respect. He explains concepts very clearly and doesn't move on until everyone understands. The challenge homework takes time, so if you don't like homework, don't take his class. An 80% is an A-, so the grading scale reflects the difficulty.

He assigns LOTS of homework of varying amounts of difficulty, but it makes the exams seem really easy in comparison. Lectures are very clear and easy to follow. He uses a lot of visual demos in class to really make everything easy to understand. Fun and interesting, very forgiving on grading.

Overall I think KC is a good teacher, he obviously enjoys the subject and will be the first person to admit that it's not an easy one. I think the major drawback with KC is he is somewhat unorganized. If you are OCD about knowing your grade for each assignment this is not the class for you. A ton of homework, and most of it is harder than tests

KC is tough with hours of homework outside of class and exams that push you to synthesize the material that you learned. But that is what is needed for most people to fully grasp physics and I appreciate him doing that. It shows he cares that we learn instead of just giving us 3 exams and letting us figure it out all at the end. Great teacher.

KC is great. If you go to the worm hole, your labs, and your recitations, you will pass. You can get like 30% on both midterms and the final, and if you always do your homework you will pass with a C. All in all, GO TO THE WORM HOLE OFTEN!! He is very understanding if you come to him with an issue, and will usually do anything he can to help.

Took this class from him last year. KC is one of my favorite instructors. Really enthusiastic about the subject and obviously loves teaching it. Challenge homework is hard and the tests are pretty hard, but his grading scale corrects for this. I would not hesitate to recommend his class to a friend.

KC has definitely improved from last term. Has been a lot more organized. Wish he would put his HW due dates up on the syllabus at the beginning of term so I could plan things out better. 202 is definitely smoother going than 201 since there is a lot less material to cover

If you want to get a good grade in this class you have to be willing to dedicate time to it. KC offers many resources for success in his class. If you are confused he will always make time to clarify the material for you.

KC does an excellent job of presenting the material and is very easy to reach after class if one is trying to comprehend a topic. The level of material was appropriate for the students.

This was a tough series. I took all three with KC, and struggled the whole year. He is passionate about physics and genuinely wants everyone to learn.He stepped into Coffin's program and has to work within it until he can get enough support to make changes. 201 was ridiculous, 202 much better, 203, pretty darn hard again. It requires A LOT of time.

I really enjoyed Prof. Walsh's class and I learned a lot about physics. I would recommend taking the 201 series with him just be ready because it does have a lot of homework! Also, KC has some great physics demonstrations.

KC is a very engaging, clear professor. His knowledge of the subject is paramount and his ability to teach is extraordinary. This is not an easy series.

I really enjoyed KC's class. Much of the lecture went along with the text but I would still recommend attending lecture. He is an awesome professor and shows his students the fun/cool part of physics. I would definitely take his classes again.

Tests are quite difficult; he requires you to know the material and connect the dots but there are many helpful resources available. Must keep up; lots of homework per week, some of which takes several hours to complete.

One of the best professors I've ever had. I had no prior interest in the class and I came out of it loving physics. Lots of homework but none of it was unnecessary. Tests were straightforward. Lectures were fun and engaging with lots of neat demos. This class was a huge time commitment but in my opinion it was more than worth it!

KC is a great professor! His classes challenge you to think and apply physics rather than just memorize equations. Class was a huge time commitment with 10-15 hours of homework per week. At the end of the year, though, I saw how much I learned and how cool physics really is. It is definitely NOT easy, but it's worth it!

KC has come a long way since the beginning of the year. Gone from writing on the chalkboard to using the overhead and taking notes on that. That means all then notes are available from lecture. Lots of homework but it helps to make sure you know the material before the tests. Responds quickly to emails and shows concern for students' learning

Great professor with a genuine love for teaching physics. Very helpful and creates a fun class atmosphere. The subject is difficult however. Exams and HW are challenging and a bit tricky, but tons of partial credit is given. If you attend every lecture, skim the textbook, and do everything you can on the exams/HW, you'll do fine.

Overall I felt that this was a good physics course. It was a long year with a large amount of work, probably the most work for any course Ive done. KC definitely is interested in the learning of his students and rewarded those who worked hard in this class. Advice I would have is read the chapters before lecture, and the practice tests before exams

No one can justly give this guy a bad rating. It is the nature of Physics to be very difficult, and the best way to study for it is by a plethora of homework problems. Yes, it sucks, yes, it is A LOT of work, but you LEARN... which is his very intent.. KC wants to help students get this stuff = great professor, hard class.

If you are excited to learn the material, and do the reading ahead of time, you can do good in this class.

Physics is HARD But KC does a good job presenting the material and giving you multiple ways to practice the material so you really understand it. I cannot thank him enough for preparing me so well for graduate school (PT). I can't tell you how helpful this class is, and how prepared I am compared to classmates in grad school. This course is the most challenging course I have ever had. That is the nature of physics. Do ALL of the work. You will pass the course. This course ate up more or at least as much time as 400 level courses I am taking in a rigorous science field. If you had any prior physics, this will be easy. If not, prepare!

KC is an awesome professor who really cares about teaching. He gives a good amount of outside work, but the problems are formatted a lot like his tests so DO IT. This class takes a good amount of effort, but if you put in the time, you will see results.

He's is a good well spoken professor. Here comes the but, his tests are more like physics riddles then physics tests. If you can quickly figure out what info he wants you to pull from where you'll be golden. If you're more like me you'll be racing the clock to get most of the questions done on the exam

KC is probably easily the best physics professor at Oregon State. Be prepared to be challenged and have lots of homework. KC doesn't just teach the material but has you master it. Students who take physics are much more advanced in physics than other students with different professors. Hard class but very doable.

KC does an amazing job of providing practice problems, class examples, and tons of help from his office hours or TAs in the Worm Hole. His exams are challenging but the built-in curve accounts for that. The class is a lot of work (esp. 201) but stay on top of the work load, do tons of practice problems and you'll be fine.

KC is a good professor but I wish he would use power points for the main concepts. Overall, I learned a lot every day and will take that knowledge into real life now. The most useful course for understanding science and the largest workload of any 200 level course at OSU.

Good public speaker, to bad the stuff he goes over in class rarely helps you with homework and exams. He goes over concepts in class but doesn't do examples to the extent that he tests you on. Homework will consume all your time and doesn't do a good job preparing you for exams, needs improvement.

I am an English major and I registered late for classes, so everything was closed. Physics class was still open so I registered, although I don't have pre-required PH 201 and PH 202. To this point, I have an A in the class. The labs are fun and the professor is conceptual. Heavy practice is required, since you only know the theory.

KC is a rare Physics professor. You can go take PH from someone else and possibly get a better grade, but I guarantee that you will not learn as much. He is dedicated to this subject, that is why it takes a lot of effort! Study, go to office hours, and read the book! He is more than willing to help, and honestly cares about his students.

KC is extremely challenging and the PH 201 course is homework heavy. However, he is understanding and easy to talk to. He grades fairly and really cares about his students. He's also quirky and keeps the class interesting. If you are taking the MCAT, GRE or whatever, you will absolutely learn what you need from him to be successful.

KC is a great professor. He assigns a lot of homework, but it's so that you get a lot of practice in. He usually has 5+ hours/week for office hours and is always willing to help you.

Walsh is a solid professor. He keeps the topic interesting despite the majority of his students not being physics majors, and the workload is very manageable, but you must stay on top of it.

KC is a hard teacher, but it mainly because of the material he is teaching. He will require a lot of you, and gives you a lot of homework. But it is all so you can learn the material better. Sooo extremely hard teacher, but you will probably learn more in his class then any other class. If you have to take physics at OSU, take KC.

KC is the best person I could have taken physics with. Yes it's hard (it's physics), yes you have to do homework and read and yes the tests are hard. But KC makes sure you're as prepared as possible to succeed in the class. He actually cares how his students do and will have a fulfilling conversation with any student that approaches him.

KC overall is a great teacher who always keeps the class relatively interesting. The material for the class is very tough and very challenging however, KC does his best to explain the topics in a way that is very relatable to the students. If you do all the work and attempt to understand the material you will pass.

His class was very difficult however I felt like he taught me a ton! Workload is high but he is extremely motivated teacher who is willing to help as much as he is able. Overall I would definitely recommend his class.

This class has proven to be extremely challenging because it is so conceptual and the tests are highly based on applying concepts. The homework load was exhausting at times, but it did give a lot practice. KC is truly an amazing instructor who is very passionate about physics. This class was super hard because of the 6hrs a week of homework that you had to do almost every week just to keep up with the class.

Physics is challenging and you certainly need to know your stuff to be successful on the assignments and the exams. KC does a really good job explaining overall concepts, providing some examples, and making sure students understand the work. It would've been better with more work out problems. The class keeps you on your toes.

The class is hard with a lot of work. KC is a good professor, but material that we haven't covered shows up on homework and occasionally on tests. He puts the lecture up online, but go to class!

This class was hard, because physics is hard. I thought KC was a great professor. You could tell he was always working his hardest to get things done. Also, his TA's seemed happy, which tells you something about the professor.

Extremely HARD BUT DIGESTIBLE!!! I know so many people including me had a very hard time to solve his challenge homework and exam questions. HOWEVER, clicker point gives free 2.5% to 5% additional point that can change grade. Also, he must be very helpful for people who is gonna prepare for MCAT or OAT. Overall, take that class and study hard!

KC is a great prof, he's really interested in physics which makes the class interesting even though it's a difficult subject. He makes a point to available for his students even though the lecture size is huge which is awesome.

KC, as is his preferred address, gives a heavy workload and tests from his lectures, not the text. If you can do the challenge homework, you're good for the exams. The workload seems unreasonable until you hit the end of the series and look back. I loved this class, KC made physics fun.

KC is a great teacher. Higher expectations aren't necessarily a bad thing. Creating stronger more competent students is an honorable endeavor. That said, the work load was intense! And lab would have been helpfully to me if they weren't so boring. KC does examples in class that are funny/interesting. I didn't get a great grade but I did learn!

Despite the horror stories about the physics program at OSU, KC doesn't quite live up to the horror hype.

Physics is a very hard subject to understand, but KC does his very best and he really cares about his students' learning. His workload is tough and it is true that at times he speeds through concepts, but he gives plenty of examples and is always available for extra help. I can honestly say I did learn a lot from his class, even if it was hard work

Took this as a required class with absolutely no interest in physics--left constantly thinking in terms of physics and fascinated by how the world works. Time consuming work, challenging problems that make you think, but completely worthwhile and applicable to the class. Labs were sometimes too ahead of lecture material, but overall great class.

Great teacher! He truly cares about the progression of students knowledge in the subject of physics. It's not an easy class simply because it's physics, so you do have to put your best foot forward and work hard. However, with Kenneth Walsh as your professor, he will make the class and physics in general much more understandable.

I would recommend him to future students and Oregon State University should keep this local country boy around. His online website was updated frequently and was easier to use than blackboard. His notes were organized and easy to follow.

KC really was one of the best professors I've had at OSU. I found the subject interesting, though my degree is not in this field. He really kept my attention and made the topics relevant. It's not an easy class by default and the predetermined curve helps your grade out.

OSU is lucky to have KC teaching physics to its undergrads. He clearly is enjoying making the subject interesting and accessible for all of his students, which makes even a 4 week summer course feel fun!

One of the best professors i've had. very clear with what you need to do, and with teaching the material. Challenging class but he will provide you with all the tools necessary.

Really good professor that keeps the class awake with funny side comments in a 9 am summer class. In addition, he's always willing to help and explain any concepts people are confused about. However, he truely tests for understanding of those concepts in his tests with hybrid problems. Not impossible but sometimes a time crunch on tests.

KC is a fantastic teacher, OSU is very lucky to have him. He is clear with his lectures and uses humor and relatable examples to lighten the mood. The class is difficult, especially during Summer when the pace is accelerated, but if you keep up and go to Office Hours, you will do well.

After a summer session with Walsh where he taught PH201 and PH202 I actually can say that I became interested in physics after hating it prior to summer. Especially after experiencing our PH203 professor for that summer, I realize how great of a professor Walsh is. I was lucky to be a student of such a great professor.

Dr. Walsh is the ideal teacher. Many of the OSU staff have research as their priority, but Walsh gave up research because he liked teaching more. This attitude makes him invaluable. He is very clear in lecture, and definitely teaches what you need to know. Homework is very difficult, but it prepares students for the tests and forces them to learn.

Interesting class design. He makes his tests extremely difficult, but sets the curve where an 85 is an A, and a 60 is a C, so he's not unreasonable difficult to pass.

Dr. Walsh is by far the best Physics Instructor at Oregon State. Now his class will be tough but if you put in the work you will do great. He sets his class up so its almost impossible to not pass but tough to get an A. Highly Recommend if you are taking physics.

Awesome professor! Exams are tough, but very doable if you study, watch pre-lectures, attend class, go to labs, do challenge HW, and do online HW. Yes, there is a lot of work, but if you commit to doing it all, you'll be fine!

KC is an awesome teacher! Exams are the hardest things I've ever taken! I have an A in the class right now, but just took the final, my word it was tough! I think I should still pull out with an A, but we'll see! Good class, just lots of work and thinking!

I love KC?

KC runs a modified lecture environment where you watch videos before class and complete "Pre-lecture" online homework as well as "Post-lecture" online homework. Add the challenge homeworks due each week and it can be a lot of homework. However, he is a great teacher and if you do all the work you will be in good shape.

If you stay caught up you'll be okay, falling behind really hurts you. The TA's were very helpful and Kc is always giving information on where to get help if needed. Finding a buddy to work with would have helped me, I suggest it strongly to future students.

Good class. It's reverse lecture style where you learn main material at home then practice in class. Was hard to get used to, but by the end I did. He is pretty funny and is really enthusiastic about teaching physics!

Don't be afraid to talk to him. I took the entire series, 201-203, and never went to get help until half way through the series. After my tests and grads improved. Also you can pass without going to lecture; however, he sometimes pulls test questions from lecture. DOING THE CHALLENGE HOMEWORK WILL SAVE YOU.

KC's course is well-designed and well-executed. The course provides layers of media and materials to facilitate learning. Like all good things in life, you have to put in time and effort to be successful. But the course designs give you a true opportunity to understand and apply this topic in a pragmatic fashion.

Throughout high school and college I have heard of dreaded stories of Physics, usually the teachers being horrible. KC is the exact opposite as he wants you to succeed. KC clearly teaches you how the universe works with the help of his great TAs. Sure you get a lot of HW and the challenge work is well challenging but its all worth it. TLDR: Great

The tests and the homework were hard, but you always had the tools to do what was asked of you. Only the online homework ever asked about something barely or not covered in the lecture videos and in that case there was always the textbook. If someone's taking physics at OSU I would definitely recommend they take it from KC.

KC is amazing. He made me love physics. His style is different in which you watch lecture videos home and in class you focus on practicing problems. Tests are difficult but if you come to class, do the weekly and online homework you should be fine.

I have so much respect for Dr. Walsh. With the flipped classroom, students have the opportunity to collaborate & ask questions rather than listen to him lecture. I loved the online videos; great for reviewing material before exams, & you never miss a word since you can pause & rewind. With this system, KC ensures his students are successful.

The class content is definitely difficult. Weekly challenge homework is especially difficult (more so than the exams), but thoroughly prepares you to apply the concepts learned. He is very helpful and engages with students well, but his office is often flooded within 5 minutes of his door opening, so schedule help ahead of time if possible.

I took this class with Walsh in the summer and I loved his teaching style. He posted khan-academy-like videos online, and did all example problems in class. He was very passionate about getting you to learn the material and if I had the choice to have him teach the rest of my physics w calculus series, I would have.

There are mixed opinions on Dr. Walsh... That is just because he is a physics teacher. The guy is actually pretty funny, likes beer (catch him at the dog after a midterm or final), and is passionate about physics. Challenge HMW is tough but I have heard he is remodeling it to be more like tests. 50% is a C- so just do the work and you'll pass.

KC is the best. Physics is a very difficult subject, anybody who tells you otherwise is trying to sell you something. If you buy into his teaching method and put in the work, you will learn physics really well and you will get the grade you want. There is a ton of extra help available and you don't actually have to memorize a ton of equations.

I wasn't a huge fan of KC or his style of teaching while taking the class, but I did actually learn physics. In most of my classes I forget what I learned immediately after the term or year ends, but KC's material sticks with you! The challenge homework is a pain, but it does help a lot for understanding the material and on tests.

Throughout the whole course one thing was very evident: KC cares about his students and he tries his best to ensure everyone can be successful. This course was actually one of his favorites during his undergrad and it shows because it was really interesting and he was very excited about teaching it. His practice tests are super helpful, use them!

Coming from another college where lectures are non-existent, I have found that KC's lectures are a HUGE plus. He records ALL of his lectures and posts them on his website, which contains everything you need to know about physics (concepts/equations/examples)!! He is very fair with his grading system, counts your work towards your grade.

One rater called KC "extremely lazy" and that could not be farther from the truth. KC is the most proactive professor at OSU, and he pours countless hours into the development of this course. Its a hard subject so you have to put effort in, and for those who are used to skating-by with minimal effort, it will be challenging at first, but worth it.

If you come into this class, or any math/science class thinking it's going to be easy, you're probably wrong. This is challenging, and you will need to buy into KC's flipped classroom system. Use boxsand, watch the pre-lecture videos before lecture, and actually do the homework and you will both get an A and learn physics well enough for the MCAT

I never thought I would say this, but I really enjoyed taking physics at OSU. There's a lot of extra help available. It can be intimating from what some people say but honestly, KC is one of the best professors I have taken in college and makes the experience more interesting and exciting. Be prepared for a lot of work but it pays off in the end.

KC is awesome. Taking a class with him not only changed the way I see physics but also the way I view education as a whole. He is involved to transforming the classroom towards a more progressive, efficient learning style that really suited my personality and I think the class as whole. He is extremely willing to help during office hours.

K.C. puts his heart into this class. You can tell how deeply he cares for physics and the students. He likely spends 60+ hours a week to prepare for his lectures. He is by far my favorite teacher regardless of the difficulty of the class. He has a plethora of options for students to get help with physics. I wish most teachers were like him. -RT

KC was honestly one of the best professors I have ever had. I could tell he really cared about us as students. Physics was by far the hardest class I've had to take, and getting used to the flipped class was challenging, but I believed it really helped me truly learn physics. If you don't need physics avoid it like the plague, if you do, take KC's!

If you have to take the 201, 202, 203 Physics series then you should consider taking it with KC Walsh. I was dreading the series but his coarse structure makes this battle of learning physics digestible. His website is also very helpful and I personally didn't use the textbook

By far the best physics teacher that you can get at OSU. take any physics class with him whenever possible.

He really cares about education, and about student involvement. I was not a fan of the flipped classroom before I took this class.

Requires outside participation. If you use his website you will get used to it and love it. I would would recommend that all colleges follow KC 's flipped classroom. The current Oregon State professors of Ph 21x-13 series are not as organized and do not give as much practice as KC will give you.

Took it my first term and was instantly my favorite professor. Goes through multiple examples to make sure all content is covered. Homework revolves around lecture in a very specific way. Class is always entertaining and doesnt make people feel bad or stupid for asking questions.

As I'm wrapping up my time at OSU, I was asked to reflect back on my time here and out of all the teachers I've had Walsh was one of them that stood out. His class is extremely challenging. Exams and homework are really tough but with that being said his grading scale is heavily curved and does a great job in lectures.

KC was the best physics teacher I could have hoped for! I loved the flipped classroom method he used and felt that his lectures were very example and visual heavy. Not all students learn well in the flipped classroom environment though. Efficient class. Straightforward learning.

Awesome professor. Show up to class, go to the help sessions, do the homework, and you'll like the class. It's really hard, but he weighs out the grades super fairly. He gets that not everyone is a physics whiz, so he gives plenty of opportunities for you to help yourself succeed. Plus, he's super funny, which helps.

KC is such a good professor. He's animated in his lectures and really cares about how well you learn the material. This course is a lot of work, but the material is identical whoever you pick as your lecturer, so pick the best lecturer, KC. This course really focuses on understanding the physics conceptually. Do not just memorize problems!

If you are burnt out, take this class alone or with one other class. The professors are great. The material is digestible. It is structured well. But it can be completely overwhelming. I wish I saw a sample syllabus before I started, it is not structured like other ecampus classes. Already feeling burned out from my workload, my motivation is low

KC is probably one of the funniest and engaging professors I've ever had. You need to be able to read a lot and ask questions, go to LAHHH, and turn things in on time. If you're aiming for a B or higher, you'll be able to flunk midterms but prepare to compensate for the bad midterm grades with excellent homework, lab, recitation, and other grades.

KC is a great lecturer and very passionate but the nature of the class makes it difficult to enjoy. I learned more in the wormhole with the grad ta's than from lecture. There is an excessive amount of assignments so there is constantly work to be done for the class, but there are a lot of resources available to get help.

KC's lectures are a breath of fresh air bc he actually explains the topics well/in depth. If you come to all quizbits you will get an A for them (don't have to get the right answers,just know the material/apply it). W/ that, you can get a C on the final and end up w a B in the class. Assignments are not rly mandatory, just treat them as exam prep.

Very excellent lectures. Conveys material well, and makes expectations clear. I appreciate the way he teaches, its intuitive to me, and I am able to understand the content to a higher degree than otherwise.

KC is a great prof and he cares about the students. But the PH 20X series is ROUGH. Don't take with other hard classes because you'll spend all your time on this one. The grading structure is somewhat forgiving but you have to complete everything for the best chance at an A. Best advice? Find a physics or engineering friend and beg for their help.

This class is hard. PLEASE take KC over Evan for the 20x series. Got an 85 on the first midterm and solid 60s on the second midterm and final and still got A-. You'll survive, and my best advice is go to LAHHH every Monday and Thursday for challenge hw- its more helpful than the wormhole. Everyone is freaking out on this page but its hard to fail

K.C. is a great professor. As long as you show up and give your best effort, you will pass. The exams are HARD, but so is physics.

My favorite professor I've ever had in all of my classes as a current third year. KC is very funny, makes lectures engaging, and explains things very well. Midterms were okay but the final was rough in terms of difficulty.

Not going to lie this class was extremely difficult! You need to have the time to really dedicate to it, otherwise you will fail. Don't expect to be able to cheat on

Physics can be a tough class, but KC is a fantastic professor. Every topic on exams is covered in lecture and recitation. Homework problems help a great deal in understanding the content. He grades leniently, giving lots of partial credit. Lectures are engaging and the course is organized to optimize learning and retention.

Such a great teacher! I am horrible at physics and still managed to pass with a B. Dedicate lots of time to the course, and express if you are struggling. KC, Evan and the TAs truly care and will ensure you pass . They are more focused on you understanding than they are concerned about the right answer :)

Very dense classes, but his research focus is on developing an ideal method for teaching physics, and it shows. You will put in a lot of time, but you will learn thoroughly.
