WOW! i usually hate english but he made it so interesting. we read harry potter and saw a movie called TOM JONES (old english comedy). he's genuine and actually cares about the students. ohh and he's funny too.

He is the best teacher in this school. He's funny, sarcastic, and really cares about his students. The class was mostly about Harry Potter but I enjoyed it a lot. I recommend him to everyone. Even if you are don't like Harry Potter you will enjoy this class because he makes it interesting.

His quizzes focus on trivial information btw (like how much money did Fred & George bet at the Quidditch game), so pay attention to details! This class was very fun. Harry Potter is great reading. The bonus questions in the class are hard, but not impossible. His grading was fair, and everyone had plenty of time to complete assignments. He's a funny guy, and makes the class enjoyable.

This Professor is way cool! The entire class is about Harry Potter! The quizzes are insane because they are so detailed. You have to write 6 essays on the two Harry Potter books that you read. Beware of B.S. and Bagpipes!LOL

YOu have to write 6 essays but he only grades the 3 you pick so technically you only have to write 3 becuase the other three can be b.s. and you have 6 quizes. I wasnt interested in Harry Potter WHAT SO EVER. BUT this is one amazing Professor. He makes the books seem interesting. Dont get me wrong the quizzes are HARD but the essays can make up it up if you do well on them. I highly recomend him. So much that his 1102 class was gone withing 6 minutes of when it opened up. This class is very easy. He's really funny and acts like a big kid. It's based on potter instead of the text thank god. He cares more about the technical stuff like citations than the actual writting so as long as you have that you'll be fine. Really cool guy and loves to mess with his students.

Pretty much a great teacher. You'll enjoy his class, he makes it fun, he's a funny person and will get to know you well. He understands college students, and won't really bug you for stuff, he'll try to help you out as much as possible. We left class 15-20 minutes earlier on most days. He lets you use anything in writing, including Wiki & HP Lexicon, just don't over do it and document it in MLA. Three 4&1/2 pg. papers, 5 quizzes, and peer editing are highly endorsed (Ask about the free eulogy card freshman.) It's too bad that you are reading this when it's too late to enroll because a few first years got in way too early, right?

Good teacher. He's a little crazy and tries a little too hard to be cool but he's very likable. Recommend him. Put in the effort and it'll be easy.

FAVORITE professor here @FIU. He was my first professor ever and i LOVE him. He has a great sense of humor and is intelligent (PhD). Take him! He really cares about ALL of his students and is super clear and helpful. 4 papers (3 are graded) . He loves to play loud music before class. His classes are enjoyable. Take him!

He was honestly the best professor I think I will ever have. He's great, he tries to understand everyone and makes you feel like a group. Really helps you feel confident in what you are doing. Always there to help and brighten your day.

Great professor. There are several reading quizzes from the Bacon book, but if you read before class you'll get 100s. The essays aren't bad, but some people struggled with them. He's funny and always talks about dirty jokes. Overall, funny, easy class. The only annoying part was the attendance policy

I took ENC 1101 and 1102 with him and he is beyond amazing! He helps you every step of the way and gives you many chances to get a good grade in his class. Best class at FIU

He's the best professor I've ever had at FIU, I had him for enc1101 & enc1102. He's understanding when it comes to having to miss class a few times and actually helps you with papers. There's absolutely nothing difficult about his class. He's an amazing professor and person, I would DEFINITELY recommend taking him.

BEST PROFESSOR! take his class!! he's a fair grader and is very helpful when it comes to writing papers. this has been the second class I take with him and I have no complaints! 3 essays (1 on Harry Potter!) and you do a lot of peer editing which helps a ton! there's a journal required which is simple. not a difficult class just do the work!!

Hands down amazing! DO not fear taking a morning class he will keep you up. Funny, easy, EXTREMELY helpful and lenient. Very clear and likes to interact and get to know his students. You will learn and have small quizzes on text. Peer editing and essay building. You won't regret it. Take him!

Claus is a super cool dude, and hilarious, and easy to talk to when you need help! HOWEVER, I didn't learn much, because he talks A LOT, so sometimes it's easy to get a bit confused when you're home trying to write your essay. He's lenient and fair, but can be harsh when it comes to things he's strict on, like citing. Love him, though.

Dr. Claus has to be one of my favorite professors ever! His class is very simple, meaning, he doesn't give homework or pointless assignments. There's 4 essays that he gives you plenty of time to work on. He's absolutely hilarious and a very kind man. Definitely try to snag his class if it hasn't closed already!

Dr Claus value that the students learn without the stress or pressure, he gives the chance to redeem your score with redeem papers.I did not feel that this class was a torture it was fun and i learned so much about different religions in a way that no class had thought me before.

Dr. Claus is hands down the best professor Ive had at FIU. I had him for both ENC 1101 and ENC 1102. He's a fair grader and he cares so much about his students. If you work with him, he'll work with you. I would recommend no one else besides him for English.

Best professor at FIU. Simple. Assignments are simple and clearcut, gives more than enough time for essays, gives peer review time in class, genuinely cares about his students and incorporates his sense of humor into the course. His class never had a dull moment and was very easy to actually enjoy, which is hard to say for classes at FIU.

Outstanding Professor. Very clear with what he wants and I never thought a professor would care about his students so much. Your writing WILL improve. Very fair and willing to work with you. Classes are early in the morning, but he will without a doubt keep you awake. If you manage to find an open spot in one of his classes, snag it.

Dr. Claus is the best english professor I've ever had. I'm not a great writer but the way he works on essays you are guaranteed at least a B. He's really understanding if you have to miss class, and he's always open to helping his students whether is minor help or extending the deadline. IF YOU CAN TAKE HIS CLASS!

He is amazing with his religion courses. I never had the pleasure of taking ENC at FIU, but take any course you can with him; you will not regret it.

Claus is literally the best professor at FIU. His class is super easy and he doesn't give that much work. Your grade many reflects on your essays, which are on very easy topics, and quizzes which are on short, entertaining passages. I would recommend him to anyone!

Dr. Claus is an amazing professor. He goes out of his way to help his students and is very understanding. We only had 3 essays, and although he said he was a harsh grader, it wasn't so bad. You don't have to be an amazing writer - just follow his criteria! I am taking him for ENC 1102. (A 7 AM class.. That's how much I want to take him again)

Dr. Claus is the best. This man is the most caring professor, in my opinion, in the country. He cares, not only, about you but your grade. For an old man, he is super tech savvy and responds to email quickly. Funny and super interesting, his weekend stories are hilarious. Makes ENC1101 super fun and makes time go by like a breeze.

Made my first semester in college amazing. Makes you feel at home, has a way of bringing the class together. Makes sure the topics of the papers are of interest to you making it easier to write; although don't expect to get 100 on every paper if you're a good writer. Makes you work for an A, but won't give any lower than B. Phenomenal man + teacher

AMAZING professor. Would take again. Interactive, loves his students and willing to help! Super inspirational. I woke up everyday at 7am to get to his 9am english class but it was worth it bc he brightened my day. Classes fill up QUICK and sadly his classes are only in the early morning. His passion is infectious. Take him if you can!!

I LOVE PROFESSOR CLAUS! His classes are early but it's so worth it! I've had him twice already and wish there were more professors like him. Truly loves his job and the subject. Every class is interesting and he's such a sweet and caring man. If you feel like your papers are terrible he will help you out and give an extension. OVERALL AMAZING

He is an amazing professor and loves his students. He is picky if you do not meet the criteria, and you have 5 quizzes which can be difficult. If you are not good at citing be prepared to fail although he does give you another chance, which is amazing, it will still affect your grade greatly. Three papers and editing is very important.

Very sweet and hilarious. Loved this semester with him. He understood it was super early (7am) and helped us a lot. If you don't like editing don't take him because he is allllllll about editing and citing.

Dr. Claus makes coming to class a pleasure. He is hilarious and extremely understanding. He really cares about what he does and cares about his students. His quizzes are extremely easy but he's not the easiest grader when it comes to essays. He will NOT let you fail but it is not easy to get an A. You'll most likely end up somewhere with a B.

I took Claus during the summer term and within the first week I switched my Fall term English class to his. He honestly is one of the coolest and funniest professors you will ever have, I would recommend his class to anyone. He gives quite a few quizzes which requires you to read and remember stuff from the book but other than that its easy! :)

The essays aren't bad at all. He gives you more than enough time to do research and write up the essay and I'm doing really well in that. But the quizzes? Man, those are brutal. Super specific. I studied "important" concepts but he tested what I thought to be the most random details. Quizzes are 20% of your grade too so prepare to take a hit.

I've taken ENC 1930, ENC 1101, and ENC 1102 with him for the past year. Write EXACTLY what he asks you to (not what you want to). Hes hilarious, eccentric, and extremely entertaining. I would definitely recommend taking him.

Dr. Claus is (and always will be) my favorite professor ever, He made my days so much better even though his class was early. He is such an understanding grader and actually cares about his students. He will be there for you throughout the semester. If I could take him again I would.

Best professor I have taken so far. He makes class fun and worth coming to. I took him at 8 am and his energy for class made it easy to get up so early every day. Dr. Claus has only early morning classes, but he understands that it is early, and he makes the class fun. He makes it very clear what will be expected of you for essays and tests.

dr. claus is a great professor and energized us every morning. the class is comprised of 3 essays and 6 quizzes. it's really hard to fail because he wants you to pass but it's also very difficult to get an A because he's a tough grader for essays and they make up most of the grade. write exactly what he tells you to write. definitely recommend him

Dr. Claus is a great professor he has early morning class so considering that he always tries to energize the class and engage the class into group discussions and he lets write about the topics of your choice so writing the essays are a lot easier and he gives plenty of time

Greatest professor to have been at FIU. It was truly an honor and privilege to take this professor. HE is awesome, accessible, and always funny and caring. Yes there is a lot of writing but he gives so much time to write that its not even homework. Quizzes are the easiest thing in the world as long as you study and he tells you exactly what it is.

Overall, he's a good professor. Although he is kinda a strict grader in that if you miss one small aspect of the assignment, he takes off a lot of points. His quizzes are super easy, and he talks A LOT.

Rev. Claus is a marvelous professor. He really understands his students. Class expectations are very simple; show up and do what you are suppose to do. You will get an A if you put minimum effort. He gives multiple chances to correct mistakes and is helpful with papers! If you don't understand, just ask! Predict quiz questions and you will get an A

I took him back in Spring 2017. He has been my favorite teacher up until now. He makes a lot of jokes and tells stories in class. He gives us a bunch of time to do the essays and a lot of peer reviews as well. He's a really good story teller also. He's had a lot of experience in life and he shares even sad things in a funny way.

Was a privilege to take this class with him. He's hilarious and amazing. He keeps the class energized for such an early class. He's so easy to work with, 3 essays in total but he gives you weeks to write them. He truly cares about his students and works with you 100%. I had family issues throughout the semester and he was extremely understanding.

I took enc1102 at 7am. It was the best decision I've made. Claus is not only hilarious but he made waking up at 5am and commuting 45 min to class bearable. He cares about his students tremendously, 3 essays and multiple quizzes but they are not hard and he gives you PLENTY of time to do them. if you fail, it is 100% your fault. i got an easy A

Amazing professor ! Takes morning classes, funny, makes class as interesting as possible. Really caring about his students but his quizzes aren't easy. Study for the quizzes as they can bring up/down your grade from a B- to an A and vice-versa

Honestly the best teacher for English. I had him at 8 am and he would have music playing and entertain us with his humor. Only like 3 or 4 papers to write, which he helps us step by step with to make sure you get a good grade. To be honest if you fail, you just didnt try.

I took his class at random originally and it was one of the luckiest tricks of fate that I got to be in his class. Professor Claus cares about his students, is so wildly educated it's beyond impressive and so much more. Take his class!!!
