This is the hardest class I have had to take at Florida State, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH DODARO
No Comments
The class is pretty hard, but Dodaro is an excellent teacher. His sense of humor is great too. Pack a lunch.
Teaches material clearly, but....material covered in class as well as assigned HW is WAAAY different than the material on the exam. I'd avoid him as a teacher, otherwise, plan on signing up for it again the next semester.
I have withdrew from this course once, failed it the second time, and got a B in Dodaro's class for my third and final time. People, calculus sucks, but I would definately refer you to this guy. Personal experience tells best.
Good teacher, looks kinda like newman from seinfeld
He explains things very well. I just came to class and practiced before tests and had a high A. I rarely did the homework
Dodaro isn't a great teacher. He doesn't really explain anything. He just does examples. The class is easy I passed without doing much work.
Teaches the class very clearly. If you pay attentioni and do your work it is easy.
Kinda looks like Don Vito from viva la bam but not as bad. He's a really nice teacher and really cares about his students. Always willing to help. You should take his class.
very good math teacher. explains everything clearly. more than willing to help anyone. great teacher.
GREAT teacher! He has office hours almost all day everyday. Answers questions and explains; he makes sure you understand the material. If you don't enjoy math, you should definately take a class from Dodaro.
Explains problems with ease
He is an awesome teacher. He teaches the material very clearly and there is a lot of help offered. STudy though!
Dodaro is a great teacher. He's been teaching this course for a long time, so he knows his stuff. He's very clear and as long as you study the practice tests before the quizzes and tests, you should be fine. Tests require quite a bit of studying, but if you put in the time, this class is a breeze.
Best teacher ive had at FSU so far. Don't hesitate...if you have to take this class make sure you get Dodaro
I am terrible at math yet I made an A in this class. This teacher takes you step by step and as long as you don't miss class you'll do well without a lot of effort
Has a sense of humor and even though I had him for a big lecture class and it was easy to daze off I got a good grade! He's a nice man and enjoys teaching.
makes getting up at 8am a little bit easier. Very precise in what he expects us to know, and explains everything in detail. Even if you don't understand it, you can look over your notes and figure anything out. Tests are EXACTLY like practice, and if you put in a little time the night before, you are doing well.
AWESOME teacher; comes across as an **** at first but is actually a really nice guy. best math teacher i've ever had, i definitely recommend taking him if you can! also very helpful in office hours - he's a good guy.
Excellent teacher. Very clear and goes slowly. Wonderful!
class isnt easy at all. the guy is nice though. whoever said u can study the night before prolly got a 99 on their fcat
Greatest math teacher you'll ever find anywhere. Explains clearly and gives many examples. Also has a good impression of Peter Griffin.
Great Teacher, Nice guy, Easy class - i think i took 4 pages of notes, never studied - and i still have an A - Highly recommended...
He's a great teacher, very helpful if you go for help. He worked a lot of the practice problems in class and gave a lot of similar problems on the quizzes and tests. Make sure to do all the practice problems and you'll do well in the class.
Explains exactly what will be on the tests in the practice tests but doesn't actually teach very well at all. He doesn't teach the theory or concepts behind the problems instead teaches particular examples. You can do the problems only because you have memorized the steps not because you know the content enough to actually apply it. Very boring!
He is awesome! An easy class if you go and take the notes. He has a bad first impression but he is actually a really good teacher who gives examples straight from the test and quizzes. He also gives practice quizes and test online that are exactly like the one you take but with different numbers! Great teacher
Really clear and easy. Quizes and tests are exact same format and problems as practice (just different numbers of course). I never used the book once. All you do in class is examples and take notes.
GREAT TEACHER!! VERY GOOD AT EXPLAINING AND IS ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP!! I HIGHLY SUGGEST HIM!!!
He was a pretty good professor but class was pretty boring. The quizzes and tests were exactally what was on the practice tests. If you study it was an easy A or B.
The key to doing well in his class is effort. If you go to class and do the practice problems, it's really hard to not do well. He has exact methods to exact every problem that he'll teach you ("What do we do 999 times out of 1,000?") I'd recommend his MAC2233 class to anyone, esp. after taking it twice.
Dodaro is the man. he teaches very well and is very clear. Plus he looks and i think he actually believes he is in the mafia. They guy has a heart of gold and wants you to do well.
By far the best math teacher I have encountered at FSU. He teaches you EXACTLY what you need to know for the exam/quizzes. All you have to do is show up.
Like everybody else said... teaches exactly what you need to know, so the class should be easy as long as you make an effort to go. Can be slightly intimidatingly at first, but is truly a good guy.
Great teacher. Although attendance is not mandatory, still go. He explain things very well. The book is entirely not necessary. The tests and quizzes are exactly like the practice ones. He also is very willing to give additional help if you don't understand a certain topic. Definitely take him!
Coolest teacher ive ever had. down to earth and pretty funny. if you hate math, take him, he'll make it seem like under water basket weaving.
Best math teacher ever!!! really wants you to do well and is ALWAYS available for extra help. He basically has 24/7 office hours and explains stuff for you to understand. What he explains is what you need to know to pass the test!
class was interesting i hat an 8 am class during summer c. i would not recommend taking this class during summer its really fast. i think i would have gotten a better grade if it had been during fall. hes an alright teacher. i wont take him again. it was sufficient enough.
Dodaro...plug it in, plug it in. what type of class is this? a calculas class.
If you have never had calc before, dont take him. He knows what hes talking about, but excpects you to know everything from college algebra. He dosent go over things too well. Answer to every question- Look in the sylabus. Its not helpful
business calculus is not an easy math but Mr. Dodaro does a pretty good job of clearly explaining the concepts. The key is to do the practice quizzes and tests before recitation. Ask questions in class. He is always available for 1 on 1 help. The intensity of the course increases at the end of the semester.
If there's a variable with an exponent in the denominator then 999 times out of 1000 bring it up!
go to class and write down his example problems, you will do fine for the tests. to study, print the practice quizzes and tests...they are basically the exact same as the test just different numbers, same concept. i reccomend him.
great teacher
It is a tough class but he is a good proffesor. If you need help he can help you. I would recomend getting a tutor if you start to struggle though. I got a B in the class.
go to class and do not buy the book. he lives in his office during the day and is the most helpful teacher i have ever had. material is not easy I studied a lot and got an A-. An A- is a 92.5 not a 91.5 which sucks but if you need to take this class take him.
Hes a good teacher.. He lives in his office throughout the day so u can get help anytime..Class is nowhere near cake..if u dont do practice problems over & over until u get it u will fail..Dont buy book all u need is to take notes and keep doin the problems on egrade until u grasp it.
This class is so easy. Going to class is helpful but I skipped ocassionally towards the end of the semester and seemed to do better. You never need the textbook just take notes and do practice quiz's and tests online. I got an easy A
Tough class but he does a great job of explaining the material. DO NOT buy the book. Take him
Not a tough class just harder than College Algebra. He teaches is okay during class but it could be more clear. Go to him during office hours a day before or day of and he will explain how to do all your problems
Take this professor! He is such an excellent professor. His class is extremely easy. Just do the practice tests and quizzes. Don't buy the book. One of the best classes I have taken at FSU (I'm a senior)
He is not the best at explaining things and will go out of his way to make you feel like a moron for asking a question. if you write down every single thing he writes up on the board, you should be fine. I took each practice quiz and test at least 5 times and it really paid off. I got an A-.
He's a great teacher. he goes slow, but if you go to class and do all the practice quizes a lot, you'll do fine.
Dodaro is a really good professor. He doesn't use the book so DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY! His pratice quizzes on e-grade are just like his tests! You should go to class if you want to do well in his class but he doesn't keep attendance. I got an A! Great math teacher! I would recommend him to anyone taking this class!
Mr. Dodaro is such a nice guy and is great at what he does! He truly cares about his students and their success and is willing to help you if you need it. He has an "open door" policy...if his door is open, you can get help. I go to him at least once a week to his office if i have questions on the practice quizzes or tests. Enjoyable class! Take hi
Mr. D is a pretty good guy. He has an open door policy so you can usually go get help if you need it. Dont take if you like to leave early. He uses the whole class time. Dont buy the book. You'll learn it all from him. Good teacher to take.
I am struggling with this class. I can?t believe some of these people find it easy. I have to go to extra tutoring sessions and I'll be lucky if I get a C-. Half way through the semester the material gets extremely hard and the time limit for the tests is rediculous for this kind of math. I would take the other teacher for the PRS points at least.
REALLY REALLY REALLY easy class. He's an excellent teacher, very helpful and easy to understand. Quizzes and tests are really easy. I never got anything lower than an A. If you want an A make sure you understand every problem on e-grade before taking the quiz or test. Egrade is awesome.
great teacher, but LOTS of studying. definitely go to class and have a study-buddy. i would definitely recommend him for business calc!
easy easy, if you go to class. he goes through all of the examples of the tests in class. id recommend at least go to class on exam review days to see all the examples and ask him to do certain ones. i had early class and started sleeping in about halfway through and still got a b-. he doesnt take attendance at all.
This teacher is the best you could have for business calc. However, you will have to study for this class, the book isn't required, but do the practice each week. And go to class, and take notes. If you take the notes, you should pass. It's a hard course, but Dodaro, makes it interesting.
BEST MATH TEACHER! He is always willing to help. Just do the E grade work and the A will be yours. Super nice guy!!
Dont buy the book, just take notes.Do the online practice. Easy A
Sarcastic, and helpful.
You wont learn anything in the lectures unless you already love calculus. The tests are unnecessarily tedious and often involve long division although no calculators are allowed. The biggest problem is the lack of time given for the tests. Everyone runs out of time. BAD CLASS
Attend all the lectures and take notes. The book is unnecessary if you do the practice problems. Overall the material is difficult but if you spend a lot of time studying and attend almost all the lectures getting a passing grade is easy.
Mr. Dodaro is by far the most straightforward teacher I've had at FSU. He gives soooo many example problems and will answer ANY question that ANY student has. Even for those who aren't good at Calculus, if you go to class and keep up with the practice problems, you should definitely be able to do well (I'm talking A's!) He's such a nice guy too!
He is by far the most straightforward teacher I've had at FSU. He gives so many example problems & will answer ANY question that ANY student has. Even for those who aren't good at Calc, go to class and keep up with the practice problems and you WILL do well. He's such a nice guy too! Don't buy the book though, the online problems are all you need.
Extremely good teacher. The first 15 minutes of every class is dedicated to students asking any math question and him quickly, thoroughly and clearly working through them until everyone understands the problem. This man knows what he is doing, which is more than I can say for the rest of FSU's math department.
An excellent teacher. Definitely knows calculus inside and out. He is very clear in his lectures. Tests are somewhat hard, but if you go to class and keep up with the work, you should have no problem getting at least a B. He doesn't seem like it, but he is actually quite funny sometimes too.
Mr. D is one of the best professor's I've ever had. He is extremely helpful and he knows his calculs inside and out. He has an open door policy, you can go ask him all the questions in the world. If you don't understand the material he will answer all your questions happily. His test you have to study for, but i never got anything below a B. If cou
Practices quizzes and practice tests are imperative for a good grade. Don't buy the book, simply take the practice tests online on E-Grade. There is absolutely no reason to do poorly in such a meticulously taught class. Spends a great deal of time going over how to do calculus and then reviewing it, there is little to no wasted time. Good luck!
Great teacher, funny and nice guy. Its a not an easy A course if you dont like math or if youre not good at it. But if you study and put in the effort you can definitely make an A. He makes everything very easy to understand and is one of the better math teachers I had.Dont bother with the book, just use Egrade and go to class.
I felt like he didn't even attempt to make a 8am Calc class interesting. He would work a problem in class but the "suggested homework" would be a completely different. Embarrassed students during class when they asked "easy" questions. Good luck.
Dodaro is excited about teaching the subject. He won't help your grade at all (the final does not replace any tests) and there is no extra credit. Just use egrade and go to class and you should be fine. The suggested homework is different than the tests so there is no point to do that. Make sure you know everything on egrade as it will be tested.
Okay so I love this guy...He's funny and really loves teaching his students. If you go to class, do the practice tests on egrade, and apply yourself, it's an easy A. Don't bother getting the book because you don't need it. You will never forget the words...algebraiccc manipulationnnnnn
Mr.D is an incredible professor! He explains everything in terms you can understand, and repeats himself constantly. Try not to miss class, he goes over every type of example that will be on your practice quiz/exam (and the practice problems will always be exactly what you see on the quiz/exam with different #s) No homework, no pop quizzes.
although not an easy class, he explains exactly what you need to know for the quizzes/tests. he is funny and answers any questions clearly. no homework or mandatory attendance, but i HIGHLY recommend going to every class and practicing online on egrade before every quiz/test. :) id recommend him for sure! good luck!
What to expect...Clear notes, that cover everything necessary for the tests, plenty of office hours, a couple of jokes in class, if you what he is covering already do not yell out the answer before he teaches it, that is not welcomed by the prof, you do not have to do the suggested hw but it wont hurt, attend everyclass and you should get an a/b
The class was really easy. I never went and still pulled off an A. Just go to Edny review sessions and you will be good to go.. I know it costs money but its worth it to skip out on going to an 8 am class. Quizs and tests are exactly the same type of questions as practice problems
Great Teacher, explains everything in great detail. Has tricks to help you memorize everything needed. Great guy, makes class semi-enjoyable.
He was a great teacher. He had funny ways of making you remember certain methods. He explained everything very well. Just study for the quizzes and tests and your set.
He is a great techer! Tons of office hours and vety helpful both in an out of class. He works through problems slowly explainig each step. He is open to answering any questions and keeps you entertained. I highly recomend him! Great Great teacher.
He is a great teacher who really knows the subject well and can answer any questions. Has a lot of office hours and approaches the various math subjects in ways to easily understand.
Honestly, a great teacher. Unintentionally funny and doesn't bore you to death with an awful subject like calc. Explains things so thoroughly it's hard to forget them for tests and quizzes. Don't need a book AT ALL but I wouldn't recommend missing a single class b/c the way he explains things are the way you should learn them. Great professor.
Dodaro is one of the best math teachers i've ever had. he realizes that the majority of the students are taking the class bc its required and teaches the class in that manner, in simple terms! He's very understanding and wants you to pass, he only cares if you care. Practice the homework everyday bc it is exactly the test!
I thought he was pretty funny, so it makes class a little less boring. I've taken a Calculus class in high school so I felt the material was not hard. Especially since he uses e-grade, it allows for lots of practice with the answers. Also, the subject is easy enough that any FREE math tutor on campus can help.
ALGEBRAIC MANIPULATIONNNN. I don't like calculus and I only took this class because it was required, but I didn't have to suffer at all. Mr D's a chill prof and tries to make calculus bearable, which is nice. Do the egrade homework/practice and you'll ace everything.
Class is not very hard. Book is not needed! He tries to be funny, but if you just listen to his lectures, they help. Egrade questions are exactly like the test, so do them repeatedly and you'll be fine.
this class isn't difficult, as long as you attend class, take notes, and then do the online practice. for every quiz and test there is an almost identical practice online. he is SO nice also! always willing and excited to help. he truly wants his students to succeed. put about 1 - 1 and a half hours of time in each week and you'll get an A :)
If you attend class, take good notes, and do all the e-grade practice quizzes and tests, you should have no problem getting a good grade in this class. He is very helpful and he will answer any questions either in class or if you go to his office.
GREAT teacher, i already took calc but didn't take the ap test so i had to take this course. he makes jokes, tries to keep the class interesting but knows we are all there bc it's a requirement. he is always willing to help. you DO NOT need the textbook, he puts practice problems online. trust me don't buy the text
Not sure if its the teacher or my ability to not learn calculus. Is funny tho
attendance isn't required and textbook is NEVER used. make sure to take detailed notes.. he only teaches by a few examples from the practice quizzes. consider a tutor
Mr. D is a GREAT math teacher. Probably the best math teacher I've had. I took college algebra last semester and struggled and his class is easy for me thanks to him. Intimidating at first, but you'll soon realize he's hilarious. BUT if you want an A you must go to class, take good notes, and practice for the quizzes.
Very helpful, let you know exactly what was on the tests and quizes
One of the best teachers at FSU. If you have never taken Calculus before simply go to class and he will teach you everything you need to know. If you have taken Calculus before don't bother showing up, it's an easy A.
He's a great teacher, but make sure you go to class. He is very helpful but skipping class will kill you. I missed a few and fell way behind.
He is the best teacher for business calculus. He keeps you entertained while actually teaching you something. If you go through eGrade over and over and over, its an easy A!
Mr. D is THE MAN
Mr. Dodaro is a great teacher. I love math so this class wasn't hard at all for me. But, even if I wasn't good at math, this class would be easy to do well in if you GO TO CLASS. If you don't, then you will find yourself freaking out. He does so many practice problems for you in class that are straight from some of your quizzes. Great teacher!!
He is a very nice guy and was very helpful at office hours. Unfortunately, the class was very difficult to me. I passed but worked crazy hard to earn my C lol It was by far the hardest class I have ever taken, but its FSU's math dept that makes it hard, not Dodaro. If you have to take this class, definitely take it with him
"If you want to try and solve the equation that way... Pack a lunch... You're going to be here for a while," (Dodaro). (After solving a long problem by hand): "That's how we did it in the old days. Old school. B.C. ... Before Calculators," (Dodaro). This guy is hilarious and teaches you what you need to know for the tests, etc. Take him!
Weekly quizzes, tests every few weeks, and a final. Couldn't get any easier. Simply go to class, take notes, and you'll know exactly whats on the quiz and test. Always available in his office for those who need him. Got an A from going to class and doing the practice before quiz/test. Its that easy
Mr. D is the man! Teaches class in a funny way to keep you attentive. Always available in his office even outside of his office hours. Highly recommended if you have to take Business Calc
Great Class if you decent with math. No homework just study on you own. Does a great Peter Griffin impression. May seem strict at first but thats only in the beginning. quiz every wednesday
Great guy, great class! So thankful I took Business Calc with him.
really funny, keeps class entertaining, good at explaining concepts. The material itself can get pretty hard, and studying outside of class is a MUST to pass this class. randomly curves some test. Easy A/B if you put in the effort
Great teacher. Cares about his students, has a good sense of humor, the quizzes and homework are just like the examples in lecture, and he's always available to help you if you need it. You won't need the textbook. He reminds me of Danny Devito.
Very easy class if you go! Examples and online work are exactly what is on the quizzes and tests. If you grasp math fairly well, there is absolutely no need for the textbook! I didn't buy it and have never gotten below a B on any quiz or test.
One of the best math teachers I've ever had! He is very clear with instructions and works problems step by step. If you have any trouble with any problems, he is also very helpful during his office hours.
Mr D is an awesome teacher! I am in no way a math person, and I was very intimidated by this class. Definitely go to every class, take good notes, and spend time making sure you know all the types of egrade problems. Go into his office whenever, and he'll be there with a mountain dew in hand, ready to help you!
this guy is a great teacher! if you want to do good you have to go to every single class and do the practice quizzes online and you will easily get at least a B. he explains things pretty clearly and goes over many examples
Class attendance is very helpful but not mandatory
It was a pleasure taking Mr. Dodaro for precalculus. He takes up all the time in some lectures to review. He writes concise notes, explains everything very clearly, and makes sure everyone understands the material by asking if there are any questions from eGrade anyone needs help with before each lecture. I wish he taught Calculus I.
For the most part very helpful, but he often gives attitude to people asking questions.
Didn't like his lectures. His practice problems/ homework/ quizzes are easy but the tests are real hard. You have to study and know the material inside and out.
Dodaro knows his stuff and cracks some funny jokes. He does practice problems straight from eGrade and will even take any questions you have before class. The tests are tricky but he has a review class the day before quizzes and tests (Go to theses and ask questions). He wants you to pass and do well! Take him.
did not attend class once and still got a B in the class. i did ednys and it really was awesome! dont need to buy the book for this class either
Good teacher! Very clear and helpful. Quizzes are easy but tests are hard.
Dodaro's a good teacher and he cares about the students. Class isn't hard but also isn't easy. The tests are usually harder than the quizzes. I had a 78 test av and a 96 quiz av. Hes the best business calc teacher, but if you take him be sure to attend lecture.
I don't know about all these below comments. A lot of students basically had to spend a whole other class time going to every study edge and ACE tutoring to get a grasp of the material. He would give way too many questions in quiz/test and not enough time to complete. and no paper or calculator allowed. and unsympathetic when students explain that
Easy class of you want the grade. If you have trouble then go in and get help but do not expect to do well if you just study the night before. I am terrible at math but I got an A because I went to class and made an effort to go in (he is always there eager and ready to help) for tutoring. Try and you'll get an A. Make excuses and you'll struggle.
Awesome professor, super helpful, loves his students. One of the friendliest professors out there, do yourself a favor and take his class.
Mr. Dodaro is the best. I have no math skills whatsoever and he made business calc understandable for me. He's also a sweetheart and keeps the class relatively entertaining
Dodaro is an amazing teacher and the tests and quizzes are pretty straight forward. The material is kind of tough to get, but I used Study Edge, which had review videos, review packets, and free live reviews and I got a 92 on the first exam. Attend all the lectures and use the app, and you're guaranteed an A !
Dodaro is by far the best math professor that I have had. His tests and quizzes are exactly like the practices, so if you do them and understand them, you will have no problems. He is also willing to answer specific questions in class and is very clear in regards to material. I am not usually good at math, but he helps tremendously.
Dodaro is my favorite professor. He knows what he's talking about, answers questions before every lecture, is very clear, and is hilarious. Sometimes he can be sarcastic when answering questions, but I find it hysterical. He makes lectures interesting, and calculus easy. Couldn't recommend him enough, I would take his class again in a heartbeat.
Very smart. Really helpful if you go to his office hours. Pretty funny guy; he has a great Peter Griffin impersonation that he'll break out every now and then. Pretty straight forward instructor. Quiz every week, 3 exams. Just like most math classes at FSU.
This class is super challenging it takes a lot of work to keep up with. I learned that studying for the tests were a lot easier if you use Study Edge. I pretty much rely on just that and I'm doing pretty good!
He teaches very thoroughly, however he does move pretty quickly through material. This is not a problem, because his office is always open and he is always willing to help. His tone is a little sarcastic, but he does not mean to be rude at all. If you go to all the classes, work on the practice quizzes, and ask questions, you will pass.
He wasn't straightforward, he hopped around from topic to topic. The lectures didn't always correlate with the quizzes. I went to tutoring 9 hours a week and still got a C-...I wouldn't take him if you're not a mourning person.
The class is tough and I missed several classes in the beginning of the semester and that's probably why I got a B instead of an A. Dodaro is always willing to help you out though. Buying the textbook is helpful but not required. Th class starts off easy but gets confusing midway through after integration and anti derivatives. Take him though
Very clear and helpful and makes math less boring
excellent at explaining the material. makes it seem so easy in class but calc isn't that easy. you cant miss class at all or else youll struggle. his sense of humor is very sarcastic and he has funny sayings to help you remember how to do problems. the tests and quizzes every week are all on egrade which sucks and is extremely frustrating
Took 2233 twice. 1st time w Dodaro. Went to class regularly, but it just didn't click. I failed with a D. 2nd time w Grigorian, got an A-. Both profs. are AMAZING, smart, funny, and helpful. Key to getting an A: 1)Attend class, take notes 2)PRACTICE EGrade like no other. helped me to PRINT practice quizzes 3)EGrade practices just like exams
There are quizzes every week and the tests are hard. He is probably the best teacher for business calc, but don't take it if you can get around it. Go to ACE and maybe study edge.
Dodaro makes the material appear easy in class but when you try problems on E-grade it might as well be a foreign language. Only take this professor as an absolute last resort. Go to ACE!
Literally a terrible teacher. He goes through things so fast in class and the practice problems are nothing like the tests and quizzes. Currently failing this class and have to drop and take again. DO NOT TAKE KENNETH DODARO. DO NOT.
He tries to make the class very interesting and uses phrases which makes things easy to remember. The practice quizzes are exactly like the quizzes and tests. If you do the practice quizzes, go to office if you are confused, and attend class and take good notes you will def pass. Also review sesh before exams. He's very helpful and knowledgable
dodaro is an AMAZING teacher. Go to class and his lessons are exactly like the quizzes and tests. if you need help, just go to his office hours and he will help you with whatever you need. HIGHLY recommended that you take him. Hes AWESOME!
Put in the effort! Dodaro was incredibly helpful and patient with me when I went to his office hours! He would sit with me for hours going over problems again and again! He really wanted us to succeed and made himself available. Not too many people were in the office hours when I was because most don't think he wants to help, but he certainly does!
Dodaro is a great professor, he really cares about his students and wants you to do well. I had him for B. Calc and he made the class a lot easier, he walks through every online eGrade problem. He is also very helpful during office hours if you don't understand what's going on, as long as you do the online quizzes you can get an A in the class!
A truly helpful teacher. This man puts in A LOT of hours. His office is always open! To get an A in this class you have to study for atleast 30 minutes everyday. Its math!! Math is a perfectionist art, and practice makes perfect! Do not believe what you hear about tests being hard or whatnot. Everything is extremely straightfoward and to the point.
I am terrible at math and only got a C in this course, but I would have failed if it wasn't for Dodaro. He has plenty of office hours (if math isn't your thing, go! I wish I'd started going at the start of the semester. Maybe I would've gotten a B) and is always willing to work on any problems you have with the material in class. A great professor.
If you do not show up to class, expect to be study a lot and attempting to self teach yourself everything. If you go to his office hours, he is really helpful. Business calc is not an easy class unless you took calc back in high school but Dodaro is a good teacher. I could have done better if I went to class, but overall no complaints.
Rudest teacher I've ever had. Syllabus is dumb. The 10 weekly quizzes are 112 of your grade aka don't matter at all and the tests are weighed way too heavily. The practice problems on egrade usually never matched the tests. I would do hours of practice problems and still get C's on my tests. Take Ekrut. Studied for 70 hours for the final.
He comes off grumpy and mean but he is actually very funny. He made Business Calculus very easy to learn but it requires A LOT of practice. He curves tests when he can and he holds reviews days before the exams which are very helpful.
The best thing about this class is that the egrade practice problems are EXACTLY like the test. This class was extremely tough for me and I studied long hours almost every single day. If you don't put in the effort you will not get the grade you want. If I can recommend anything, GET EDNY!! You need it. It's the reason I passed.
There are a lot of quizzes and tests. All of which can be tricky but at least the practice problems are basically clones. If you ask questions in class, he answers very condescendingly but he is pretty friendly at office hours (which by the way he basically has 24/7). If you don't go to class, it's really hard to understand.
I failed calculus in high school, literally with an F every semester and I was expecting to fail again here at FSU but dodaro is literally the best teacher ever! If you pay attention in class you will pass the class. I've gotten 90 or above on every quiz and exam the the practice questions are just like the quiz. I totally recommend him!
Work hard studying and learning how to answer his homework problems and you will do well. Your grade will reflect how much you put into the class. Dodaro is a good teacher.
All you have to do is go to class and do the practice problems multiple times before quizzes and tests and you will do fine. Overall the class is basically all algebra so it's not much harder than college algebra and Dodaro is a great teacher.
such a hard class. he often sped through lectures so you had to focus on just copying down the notes rather than learning the actual math behind it. on top of that he would skip steps while lecturing which made going back through notes at home practically pointless. his tests were not easy. expected us to know so many different problem types.
This class and this teacher are terrible. This is already a confusing subject but he makes it worse by being rude and unhelpful when you ask questions. I focused all of my time and energy studying and practicing for this class because I genuinely care about doing well but still barely passed. Made me cry when I asked for help because he was so rude
Honestly, I thought Dodaro was a great teacher! Yes it is calculus so it wont come naturally and you do have to practice but he does go over examples that you will see on the tests and quizes. Take the practice quizes and tests a few times before the actual one and you should do fine.
Mr. D is the man! Super good professor. His lectures are super straight-forward and he makes them sorta interesting (as much as calc can be). Only grades are quizzes and tests, so GO AND LISTEN in class, or you will fail. He really knows his stuff and can help you on anything you have trouble with. Expect some catchy phrases too
Love this guy, had a tough time in class, however. I don't think I passed, actually, but I'm not too bummed that I'll have him again as a professor. If you're a business major and not a calculus person, you're going to have to put in extra time outside of class to pass because he doesn't assign homework. Learn from my mistake.
Dodaro is a great professor. He knows his material and if you go to class AND study you will most definitely pass this class. He has so many office hours incase you're stuck with a particular section. No pop quizzes, no homework, just practice online to take weekly quizzes/tests.
Great teacher! Even when I struggled in the class he is always there for office hours and extremely helpful. He will honestly tell you there is no need to find a tutor he will help you. I really enjoyed him although lectures are boring because it was calculus he does his best to keep you interested. Absolutely would take him again!
Hardest class I've taken so far, I struggled to take notes in his class because he sped through the material. A funny guy and I felt like I got the material when he was teaching about it, but as soon as I showed up for tests I was completely lost. Sometimes can be rude if you ask, in his mind, "dumb" questions.
Dodaro does a great job of explaining some very tough material. If you miss class, you will fall behind and it's tough to catch up.
The quizzes and exams are easy if you know the material. Be sure to practice e-grade over and over until you master the material. There is a lot of work that has to be done on the exams, so be sure to manage your time wisely on those
The class itself is hard and there's quizzes every week. He's the best teacher for Business Calc and does his best to help students pass the class.
Although business calc is a tough and boring subject, Dodaro tried his best to make it interesting yet an enjoyable lecture. He's hilarious and his catch phrases make you remember the steps. Quizzes every monday and 3 tests. Do his online practice quizzes over and over and over and I guarantee you nothing less than a B.
He makes lectures fun! He also always answers any questions you have and makes sure you understand it. He is just so funny and makes you pay attention and memorize his catch phrases. The tests and quizzes are not hard as long as you go to class pay attention and study a bit.
He's a good professor. If you're close to decent at math, you'll pass his course. I didn't attend class as often as I thought I would, but I still got a B. He's honestly a great professor!
the first actual hard college course for most business majors at fsu. I took this class in the Summer as a 6-week course, which kept me busy 7 days of the week. Being completely real with yall, if you try you will get a good grade. It is hard class, but go to class take notes, and rework practice exams till you pass out. It was real Ken,youre chill
Ken is an interesting fella. He definitely keeps things lively in the class room. I took his class over a 6-week summer semester, and boy did I have to work for my grade. Obviously calculus isn't the easiest thing ever to most people, but it is doable. Put in the work and do the practice problems and you'll get the grade you want.
Class is difficult but he is willing to work with you if you have any problems. Open door policy, and easy grader :) he doesn't allow anyone to fail the class.
Dodaro is awesome, if you work hard and go to his office hours when you need help then you'll pass. It's a hard class especially if you suck at math, but he's there to help and he's always more than willing.
This class was extremely difficult. Dodaro insists if you do well on the practice tests you will succeed on the tests. That's not the case. I studied every day for 15+ hours and didn't pass any of his tests. The class is too hard. He's rude and doesn't give any kind of guidance at all
I have a feeling most of these folks here are good at math. I am absolutely horrible at math. I went to class, tutors on a weekly basis, office hours few times a month. Still failed. His curves are not very great - friend from a previous semester had better curves. Problem is, he teaches multiple INTENSE concepts PER WEEK; not easy.
Go to every class, do the eGrade practice problems, and put effort into this class. If you want a decent grade you're going to have to try.
This class was so terrible. I had like 50 kids I know who had to drop this class during late drop if you don't have to take it I don't.
Ken is great, he explains everything really well and offers extra help to anyone that needs it. It is still a calc class so it can get a little difficult at points for me. But if you study the practice stuff he gives you, you should do fine. The people that are failing this class skip! Don't skip! (Unless you're good at math and can teach yourself)
ALGEBRAIC MANIPULATION He is a good teacher. At first, I didn't think I would like him. However, he grew on me. His class is relatively fun given the subject. You really need to go to class to understand the material.
Dodaro is the man. Says catchy phrases so that it's easier to remember what you're supposed to do in certain problems. Just go to class and do the eGrade assignments often and you won't have a problem getting a B or over.
Great teacher. Makes everything hilarious given it's a calculus class. THE CLASS IS HARD SO SHOW UP. Dodaro does the best to help you, tons of office hours.
The class is really challenging and not a joke at all. But, if you go to class and to office hours Dodaro is super helpful and always willing to assist you with the material. In addition, Dodaro has a really good sense of humor in lecture and in his office hours. Do the Egrade practices, go to class, and office hours and it will help you!
Dodaro is a hilarious teacher and keeps the class entertaining, though the material can be boring at times. While the class is challenging, he is always willing to help students out during office hours. If you go to class and do the practice online quizzes, it is very manageable.
Hardest class I've taken but Dodaro taught it well. Each class he went over practice problems so you could do the practice quizzes and exams easily. Need to attend class to get the notes and make sure you practice. The text book isn't really necessary and he holds lots of office hours for students and tries to help students out as much as possible.
For accounting majors, this class is the first challenging class you'll take. Especially for someone like me, who had no prior background with calculus. I worked hard in the class, often spending tons of hours studying for the tests and it paid off okay. I'm not math savvy, but Dodaro is a great professor and will never turn down a student's help.
Not as great as professor as everyone here claims, you are much better off taking it at your local CC or at TCC if this is your only required math class left.
Egrade is an absolute nightmare to deal with. Dodaro is a great guy and teacher, only issue i had was with how bad egrade was.
Business calculus is obviously a hard class, but the way Dodaro handles his lectures and such are great. If you put in the work and do the practice quizzes multiple times, you will succeed in the course. He rounded my A- to an A at the end of the course because he saw that I put in the work for it.
He reminds me of Santa Clause. He is a very smart man and very funny. He always answers questions and goes through any problems you have trouble with. Math is boring so it'll get boring at times but not that much homework and he alway puts practices up for quizzes and tests.
The $300 workbook will not be necessary. He does not give HW out of it but rather practice quizzes/tests. Professor Dodaro is extremely knowledgeable and will teach you how to do the work without a calculator. The class itself is kinda difficult but he is very thorough in teaching you the steps. Pay attention in class and do the practices!
Extremely difficult class, especially since i'm not a math person. Although he provided practice quizzes and tests they really did not help. I went to every single lecture and studied for multiple hours on end and didn't pass. Take this class at a community college if you can.
He's a good teacher for what it is and he really tries his best to get the material across, but I was putting in countless hours to this class and not seeing much in return. It's a tough class. I ended up going to Skoolers tutoring towards the end of the semester and ended up with an A in the class. It's expensive but worth it.
This class has challenging material, but you can definitely do well if you go to class and take notes. He is very understanding and is willing to work with you on whatever you're struggling with. I studied hard and did well on all the tests. The only one that was truly hard was the final, which I did not do as well on.
I had to go to office hours for extra help but he was really nice and helped me pass
Attendance isn't mandatory but you will not pass this class if you don't go. There are quizzes every week, 3 tests and the final exam. The quizzes help boost your grade and the teacher always posts in depth study guides that are very helpful. He makes the class as fun as business calc in a large auditorium can be. He also has a lot of office hours
Im sure hes a good guy outside of class but he is tough on students in class, especially if he feels hes being used and not respected (which he thinks is a lot more than we really are). He constantly threatens to make our quizzes harder and talks with a sassy tone, almost as if hes undermining his students' abilities. He for sure knows his math tho
Attendance is not mandatory, but that's where he gives all the notes, so you won't pass if you don't go. He has a crazy number of office hours and is always available to help, like all the time. Overall, he's a great professor and makes the class as manageable as possible. He really wants you to do well. 3 tests, a final, and quizzes every week.
I have never left a review on rate my professor but feel strongly compelled to for this class. I have never had a class before where I just couldn't understand the material. Im not a math person but even if you are I would say just take it at your local community college over the summer you will get a better grade. I had a tutor and did not pass.
No homework and no extra credit. Tests and quizzes are pretty straight forward and very similarto practice quizzes. You will need to practice for this class.
Ken Dodaro is a solid teacher. Had him for business calc spring 2018. He is a straight up teacher. What he teaches will be on the assessments. No surprises. If you're required to take Business Calc (MAC 2233), definitely take him. Definitely don't cram for tests and quizzes, as long as you give yourself 2 days to study, you'll be fine.
Best Professor for Business Cal. Straightforward, what he teaches in class and the practice quizzes, are like the quizzes and tests. I highly recommend going to class, not many people go and they do poorly. He's sarcastically funny, which I liked. Tons of office hours, very approachable even though he may not seem that way.
He is a great business calc professor, all his lectures are straightforward and the practice quizzes and tests are exactly like the real ones. But, your grade is only tests and quizzes; there is no homework or extra credit available. Also if you skip the lectures, you will not pass so make sure to go to class.
He is an AMAZING Professor; he loves what he does and he makes the material exciting to learn. This class is an easy A if you show up, ask questions, and study.
Dont bother taking this class at FSU, I am a straight A student and ended up with a failing grade in this class. I retook it at a community college and got an A no problem. Dodaro makes this class insanely hard.
Do the online assignments! They are so similar to the actual quizzes and tests.
Dr. Dodaro was great, really hilarious, class participation makes him really happy. I felt bad so few people turned up. He puts up infinite regeneration practice quizzes with basically the same questions as the actual quizzes, just variant numbers. I had to practice a ton, but he explained the calc really well, and I learned a lot. Sad he retired.
