He is just not a good professor find someone else.
you could probably teach yourself better just from the book. we constantly were correcting his math as he was doing examples. it would be a good idea to find someone else, even a teacher that would be a little bit harder would be the better way to go

I thought he was very easy! If you want an easy A, take him! If you actually enjoy math, don't because he doesn't challenge you very much!
I thought that Mr. Flowers was very nice. He was helpful if you didn't understand his examples.
I had Flowers for Calculus and I had to drop because I had an F just after midterms. He doesn't explain anything well at all.
Cool guy... needs to find a different profession... no offense if you read this.. but i taught myself everything i learned in that class staright outta the book.... but thanks anyways for trying... takes off on tests for rediculous things like leaving out simple steps in showing your work >:/ rabble
Hard class. Precal w/ Flowers is a killer, I would not want to do it again.
Ridiculous as hell. did all my homework that took FOREVER but got a 20 something on it cuz i didnt staple it and i wrote a problem on the back. If you know the material what does that matter?! Does not explain thoroughly either.
Helpful guy. Types all the notes up for you. Do the homework and label everything and you will be fine.
I had him for Math Modeling and Stat. He is pretty good about breaking things down, sometimes a little too far. He always set class time aside for questions about homework. Eh, he's not too bad...his jokes are terrible though and I suspect he has a hard time being at ease in front of his students.
Math Modeling & Statistics with Flowers were the easiest classes I've ever taken. The material is basic, and the tests are the exact same as the homework. I put in very little effort and still made A's. And I'm an English major- I suck at math.
THe Class was bull.. I hated it .. Never take him
This guy is awful. I wouldn't take him again and I wouldn't recommend him.
F at midterm and didnt drop. i did all the work and went to all the classes and ended up w/ a B. he gives good notes. and if u put in the work u get rewarded as he drops ur lowest grade, replaces ur final exam w/ something, stuff like that..
The worst teacher that I have ever had! I got an F in his class when I have never gotten anything under a B in my entire life. I re-took the class and got an A in it with another teacher. NEVER take him, he is a really bad teacher.
awful!!!
Most people don't like Professor Flowers, but I think he's a good guy. Everyone expects Math Modeling to be easy, but it's actually pretty challenging. If you do the work and ask questions, you'll be ok. I kept practicing and I eventually got the hang of it and aced the final.
Worst teacher ever. He's really picky about how you write answers - I got so many points off because they weren't HIS wording. Best of luck if you choose to take his class. I wouldn't recommend him. As a person he seems nice, but as a tacher I think he needs a bit of work.
Mr. Flowers is very helpful. He prints out the notes for you and gives plenty of examples. He makes sure to set aside time to ask any questions about the homework. I would nt consider it a slack class, by any means, but if you listen in class and do the hw, I think you will be just fine! :)
He sucks as a teacher, as a person he seems quite nice.
great prof. I dreaded taking stats but it was actually fun...came out with an A!!
I have never received a grade lower then a B+ in math. This class kicked me in the ass. after retaking the class I got an A
I think I only passed this class because he helped me study a few times a week and felt sorry for me. I'm good at math but he is VERY unclear. Nice guy but I think he should find another profession, everyone was lost in his class!
Horrible professor. Failed his class because he was unclear and basically sucked at life.
Don't take him unless you are good at math or have had precal or AP calc in high school... he's very bad at explaining stuff... i'll end up with an A, but half the class dropped... be cautious if you plan on taking flowers.
He is the worst teacher ever, first class i have ever taken where i know the material and still fail the tests, he is an anal son of **** it boggles my mind why he is still employed. ASking him questions did nothing but make me more confused he sucks avoid him at all costs
Yall, I had to take Math Modeling 3 times to get through it. He was the one who helped me. You have to go, and you have to pay attention, but he prints the notes out, and ALWAYS helps you during his office hours. nice man, but I think he's a lil cooky into Jesus. I suggest him, I can hardly count and I got a B. He is not as bad as everyone says.
Nice man. Class was far from easy and the tests were thorough but he is very helpful in his office hours. I managed a C in the course but it took alot of effort on my part.
this man is the worst math teacher i've ever had. even though i understood the material, his tests are long and confusing--he tries to trip you up and he doesn't give partial credit. i got A's on the quizzes, but failed the tests. first class i've ever had to drop. like half the class dropped after midterms. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!
i think he explains things good but test are crazy hard and he is nazi when it comes to grading. i got like a 100 on every quiz but and like D's on the test. DONT TAKE HIM
good teacher but screws you over when it comes to the tests!!! Try to avoid at all costs!!
doesnt make sence. jumps around. test questions have nothing to do with what is taught. aviod at all costs!!
HORRIBLE!! On drop day, his office was full of students with drop forms in hand. I thought the material was easy, but his tests were long and confusing. If you fail 2 tests, you fail the class. I begged him for extra credit or test reviews, but he refused. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!
He is not very helpful at all.
He is a very nice guy and is very approachable, but just cant teach. If you've learned a concept from a previous math class then he wont bother reviewing it again. His quizzes are reasonable but his tests are hard confusing and lengthy. He is a VERY tough grader. Doesnt give partial credit! Avoid him if possible!!!
he teaches ok, but his tests are completley bogus. They are so confusing you don't know what to answer. We started out with 40 classmates and by the drop date we had 14. Aviod his classes.
I was afraid to take his class after hearing all the bad things about him, but he must have changed because I really like him and his class. He's also very helpful if you don't understand something. I missed a class and went to ask him a few things, and he taught the whole lesson to me and worked with me until I understood it all.
As long as you do the homework right before the test this class is really easy. I think he got in trouble for being too hard and so he made his class easier. He can be confusing when he is explaining things sometimes though.
Available during office hours
hard precalc teacher, but now I wish he was even harder now that i am in Calc. if you want to be prepared for calc then take this profesor and if not take someone who is easy.
i dont know why everyone hates him so much. hes a really nice guy and is willing to help you, VERY understanding!! the only thing i would suggest if you have his class is to wait till hes finished with a problem before you write down notes, he tends to tell you what NOT to do first. its hard material but if you're willing to study you'll be fine.
Great explanation. Very helpful as far as calculator use and breaking down word problems. Get Him!!!
he was a hard teacher. he gave 18 quizzes this semster. he tried to make jokes during classes, but it just didnt work out. he has you print out notes and fill them in. it is a very boring class and you are required to go. i would definately not take his class again!
goes over fill in the blank notes everyday.. 18 quizzes but drops the 3 lowest.. tries to help. doesn't allow calculators on any test or quizzes.. hard but you feel like you learned something
If u've never had precal or a higher level math don't take modeling. i'm failing now. i've gone in for help but stay confused. the quizzes and tests are really hard and i'm not learning anything. I don't recommend. He seems uncomfortable and is confusing. I should have dropped the class like most.
Cannot teach to save his life; a bit religious; all test questions in homework and notes; always do homework and notes though not ever taken as a grade; dry sense of humor; you think you know the material going into the test and end up not having a clue as to what's going on in the actual test
I hate math, and this class definitely did not help that mindset. He's a nice guy, but not a great teacher. I didn't pass a single test, but still came out with a C.
quizzes all the time. but they help with your grade and also keep you on track of what you are studying. study the homework problems for tests. go in for help with the third chapter. everyone did bad. he is boring but knows what he is talking about.
Don't listen to people mad that they didn't work enough to pass. MATH1101 was a breeze, and I'm not a math person. He dumbed everything down, we only covered two chapters during the whole semester. He's annoying, but he knows his stuff. Do the homework, he re-uses problems on tests. Just don't slack and youll be fine. I made an A with little effort
Do not listen to the bad comments! I am not a math person at all, but he was so easy! We only went over two chapters the whole semester. He goes very slow and is annoying at times, but if you put up with it and know how to count to ten you will make an A! I made a high A with very little effort. So the homework, he re-uses problems on the test!
this class was super easy and he explained it very well, i did bad on the second test but he drops the lowest test if u do good on the final, the entire test comes straight from the notes and all the quizzes are really easy too! i recommend taking him, he is very helpful and will stay after or come to his office anytime u need him!
kindof hard, for math modeling. at least i thought.
He goes on random tangents a lot. He says things while laughing to himself and no one knows what's going on when he does this.
Goes over everything like you've never seen it. Has you print out the notes online but I never did. You don't usually need them. He tells you exactly what's on there out loud. Pretty boring but not unbearably so. Just dry. But it's math. What do you expect? Nice guy. Not my favorite, but there's definitely worse out there. Not bad overall.
Awful! Does not give an extra credit or try to do anything to help with your grade. He is kind of an idiot. I went into this class thinking it would be the easiest math since I had taken calc in high school, but it is hard and he does not help at all. Do not take.
He is a horrible teacher in class. i think i zoned out in everyone of his classes. He is really helpful one on one. Go to him for help and you will do so much better. He is a really nice guy. Yea he does drop your lowest test grade and your three lowest quizes. Also he does do extra credit on some quizes for your test grade!
Flowers is a really nice guy. If you actually study like he tells you at the beginning of the year, you might do well in class. Take all of his take home quizzes (nearly one a class) to the learning center and youll get a hundred. Ill forget about this class, nothing really stands out. I made a C cause I hate/am bad at math. It wasnt flowers fault
An awful professor. Uncomfortable going to him for help. Failed every test, studying everything he gave us, plus the learning center and extra. He's often grammatically incorrect, and gives you five different ways of doing something then switches back and forth. If you are at all bad at math or uncomfortable with it, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS.
kinda boring, but then again it is math. he knows his stuff and makes it easy to understand
HE'S AWFUL. He gives way too much homework, it doesn't relate to his notes, and then he expects you do to well on the tests that have no direct connection to either the notes or homework. Cannot clarify for his life, and is so terrible. Take Baugh instead. At least he's good, and passionate, even though he's kinda scatterbrained.
KENNETH FLOWERS IS AWFUL! He literally never answers your questions, he just dances around them until you give up. The notes/homework are NOTHING like the tests and he's too stubborn to admit that he's ever wrong. Very tough class unless you can completely teach yourself all the concepts.
Flowers is weird at times, he can try to make jokes but dont make anyone laugh. He can get mad about dumb things. We did not open the text book ONE time...we didn't have to do the hw but it helped...he wasn't very clear when explaining things at times.
I don't know what everyone else is saying... I thought Flowers was a great teacher. I suck at math and the first time I took stat I made a D but made an A with Flowers. His notes are super easy- he prints off fill-in-the-blank notes. One day he spent twenty minutes talking about how to convert inches to feet. He dumbs everything down really well.
oh and i also got a 79.5 in the class which was barely a B...its because i rarely came to class and didnt study till the day or 2 before the test....totally my fault. he's a great teacher!
His class is extremely boring, and for those who can't stand "babying" or repetitiveness, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. He does provide good notes, but simply has no personality making it extremely difficult to want to listen to him.
One word: terrible. Don't take him unless you absolutely have to.
He is a great teacher! I got an A in his class and I barely had to study. Just do the homework and you'll get an A on the test. He gives fill in the blank notes so you're stupid if you don't understand it.
Flowers is one of the worst teachers i have ever had. He doesn't seem to realize that not everyone is good at math and expects us to remember everything we have ever been taught in math. I think he's a terrible teacher and I wish he would be replaced with someone who is easier to understand.
He's a great teacher! Very clear with what he wants on the tests and he tells you how to study. If you study the notes, do the homework and do the book work, then you will get A's on the tests. I liked him enough to take him again next semester.
Kenneth Flowers is the worst teacher ive had. He is NO help what so ever. He teaches pre cal like everyone is already suppose to know it. He makes you feel dumb if you do not know the questions and the tests are EXTREMELY hard. Do NOT take. AWFUL teacher
i hate this professor. worst math teacher ever
Kenneth Flowers is a horrible teacher. Do not take him. Stay far away.
Mr. Flowers is such a nice guy, but his tests do not pertain to anything that he teaches. I thought I was really ready for his test and I got a 65. However, he does spend a lot of time on fill in the blank notes that are really helpful and hes always willing to discuss your grade and what you can do to make it better.
loved this class! he was very helpful, gives a lot of bonus, and the tests are very straight forward and easy. if you get an a you can exempt the final.. take him!
He makes you feel stupid if you don't understand a concept, he teaches as if you should already know the material, and is extremely unhelpful. He also has an attendance policy. Avoid at all costs.
Overall class is easy, he makes it harder than it needs to be. Difficult to understand. Proceed with CAUTION.
I just finished his Precalc class and it was the hardest class of my life...the guy is awful. If you want to start your college off by failing or getting a D like me, go for it. First time ever I got below a B. Drop the class, seriously. Wish i had done it. Thanks Kenneth.
great guy! tests are not overly hard. I made a 55 on one but he replaces your lowest test grade with your final. he gives you all the tools to succeed if you attend every class. He met with me several times out of his office hours to help me with problems. Im not good at math but he consistently helped me. I ended with a B.. final is extremely easy
Awful! Tests are given over an online site so there is no partial credit. Even though the average for the first test was a D, he had no curve. He's utterly boring and can't explain anything even when you ask for specific help on something. The test questions are ridicolous with no review. There is a ton of homework. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
Very Nice guy, wasn't the best teacher for this subj, but I've heard he's great for others. Easy class, attendance isn't mandatory. We had online homework, but you can retake it until you get a 100. First test everyone failed, gave us the option to retake it, 2 other times. Cares about your grade. I'm taking him again next semester. TAKE HIS CLASS
People, you are now in college so you have to study not only his notes but also the book. He gives handouts and is very eager to help you. I enjoyed stat with him. I got an A in the class but that's because I studied until I understood the material. Very nice, I liked him and he's willing to help you make a better grade. Work for it.
EASY TEACHER! If I had gone to class more I would have made an A. He gives handout notes that he fills in for you in is lecture. Review "Quiz" before test that is the test with different numbers. And he's really NICE
KENNY! He is an awkward guy but he really wants everyone to do well. Go to class for an incentive, but its not mandatory
Mr. Flowers is the bomb-diggity! Best math teacher ever. Highly recommend. He gives fill in the blank notes which are super easy to study. His math lab assignments have unlimited attempts. His tests are the same format as the examples in the notes. Super easy, just review your notes & mathlab before tests!
Mr. Flowers is one of the best teachers I've ever had. You will be expected to come to class and participate, but he gives very detailed notes and will work through problems similar to test questions. If you're willing to work you can get an A in his class. Calc 2 is the hardest class ive taken and i got a B.
Confusing teacher.
His tests are impossible. Smart guy but tests are a lot harder than what he teaches and he tries to trick you. Not a class you will get an A in unless you are great at stat to begin with.
Good teacher, lectures are very easy to follow. Gives you unlimited tries on MathLab. Tests are kinda tricky but not bad. Nice guy. I wasn't that good at math before class and got an A. Not easy but if you pay attention and do homework you should make an A.
Okay teacher. He was hard to follow during class. All homework is on mystatlab and his test are somewhat hard. I would not recommend him
Good teacher. Fill in the blank notes and a lot of work online. Tests are not that bad and he is always willing to help.
Ok class. 4 tests and final exam. Drops lowest test and averages other 3 to create 4th tests grade. If you make it to every class you get 2 points on your final. Miss 5 classes and you fail. Very confusing guy and only gets worse if you have a question. Hes condescending too. But not too tough of a class if you study a bit and pay attention.
Flowers is very willing to help and explain things during office hours. Don't skip class. Unlimited tries on MyMathLab (worth 20%). Four testssome questions are tricky, but rework MyMathLab and memorize the formulas and you'll be fine. Last test is probably the hardest, only one I made a B on. Also, he lets you exempt the final if you have an A.
I can't really give a review of his teaching because he hasn't actually taught. The homework takes at least 3 hours to do, you're expected to teach yourself the material before class and he spends most of class reading answers off of a worksheet. He's not really helpful and likes to use pop quizzes. DON'T TAKE IF YOU DON'T ALREADY KNOW THE MATERIAL
He makes you very frustrated and cannot explain things very well.
In his class now. Doesn't teach anything in class and all work and learning is done online. Only hands out worksheets in class and maybe once a week does a few problems on the board. If you can learn online and teach yourself, go for it. Don't recommend it to others.
This is a class where you'll end up learning a lot... definitely not an easy A or B though. You basically learn from mymathlab, as all his assignments are on there. Expect to learn just about EVERYTHING on your own. If you study, you'll do fine (A LOT OF STUDYING). He is very helpful when you come to his office hours so take advantage!
Very condescending and unclear. He expects you to just understand and makes you feel dumb when you don't. Doesn't follow the textbook methods so it's hard to refer to that for help. I got an A and I still wouldn't recommend taking him.
I sat in the very front of his classroom, paid attention, got help(tried to, at least) in his office hours and I struggled a ton in this class along with every single one of my classmates. Be prepared to teach yourself from youtube or from the online text book.
If you get him for Quantitative Skills & Reasoning, brace yourself. Every class period is a new section and he gives guided notes and works one (maybe two) examples and the rest of class is usually spend doing an assignment due next period that will be a quiz grade. MyMathLab quizzes and homework are assigned for each section. God bless
I had to work for my grade. He only has 3 tests and a final so a lot information is stuffed into one test, which makes studying awful. He also moves through material really fast so it's hard to catch on if you aren't great at math (me). He gives random pop quizzes and there are attendance benefits so definitely don't skip.
I had him for Precalculus and it was the worst class of my life. I had already taken this class before and received an A but with him I got a C. He used the flipped learning style where you do everything on MyMathLab and most of the class failed miserably because of it. Make sure you ask him why you got questions wrong bc he'll give back credit!
After reading all the reviews for Flowers I still took his course anyway. I then gave him the benefit of the doubt and didn't drop his class at the drop-off point. Huge Mistake. It doesn't matter how much you study, or how well you know the material, his tests are hard and will trick you. PreCalculus is not difficult, but his class certainly is.
He doesn't care about you as a student. He just cares about getting paid. He said it's not about knowing how to do the problem, it's about getting the right answer. HAHAHAH he is a joke.
Never in my life have I ever been in the C range. I took AP Calc and received and A, but struggled to get a B in his class. He reads straight off the power point, and if you don't have background knowledge of pre-Calc then STAY AWAY. He is great one on one, but over all? I taught myself and my roommate helped me.
The class is pretty straightforward. 80 percent of your grade in the class from the tests. If you have an A test average he lets you exempt the final. The tests are based mainly off of mymathlab and his power points. Very helpful teacher.
Avoid this professor at all costs. Does not write anything on the board and all he cares about is filling in the blanks on handout notes. Can't learn math that way. No point in going to class because you have to teach yourself anyways from all of the homework online. Don't take him unless you have someone that can help you often.
While one-on-one he is really helpful and great, he is a pretty bad professor overall. Be prepared to do a lot of homework, studying and attending the SI sessions. His notes are fill-in-the-blank and all assignments (besides tests) are online. His clas
Bruh lemme tell you about this ish. I showed up to class everyday for a couple weeks and payed attention n still bombed the test. Took the second test and bombed it again. Third test was a diff story, i finessed a 81. Took the final n Finessed an A, now I have a B in the class. basically if u arent good a math drop dis ish. GOOD teacher IMO
He wasn't a terrible professor, however he only taught everything on his powerpoints, word for word. This was my first C I've ever received. He gives 3 tests and a final, but replaces the lowest test score with your final exam grade. MyMathLab is the best way to study for your tests.
I loved Mr Flowers! You really do have to work for his class but I made an A, when I got a C in high school. He really cares about his students and is willing to help. I really enjoyed his class. There is a lot of math homework online but it's great practice. He gives you fill in the blank notes. The tests come from notes and my math lab! TAKE HIM
He confused me even more than usual. He gets off topic VERY easily and he assigns homework everyday. He assigns hard work and most of the time you don't even know what you are learning or trying to learn. He speeds through the work and doesn't give you enough time to learn the topic before moving forward. Don't take if math isn't your strong suit.
Class is confusing sometimes, but he gives fill in notes and has powerpoints for every single chapter that you have access to. Homework on mymathlab could get tricky but you have unlimited attempts. Tests are 80% of your grade and the final is cumulative, but if you have an A in the class you can exempt the final.
Professor Flowers is smart, but he doesn't know how to relay the information in a clear and concise way. He made the class a million times more difficult than it needed to be, and he was sometimes a tad bit condescending. The class wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good either. I would take another professor if you have the choice.
I was never able to understand any of the material he taught. If it weren't for YouTube and my friends I would have done a lot worse in the class. I would only recommend him to someone who already has some knowledge of statistics and is good at math. He seemed to be a nice person, but not a great professor.
He is a boring professor but he is nice. He makes dad-jokes a lot. The lectures are short and you better hope you understand because then you will get an assignment to prove what you know.
He's not a bad teacher compared to other stat teachers so far. He likes to do group assignments after his lectures so technically attendance matters but he drops the 3 lowest assignment grades. Honestly I was freaked out a lot before taking him but once I got into the class and got the hang of things and paid attention more, things got better.
His tests were so hard. A lot of people in my class barely passed. He was very rude if you did not go to class and I did not like the way he taught. He would read off of the powerpoints that didn't even make sense in the first place. First class I ever failed in my life and when I retook it with a Dif teacher over the summer online and I got an A.
class is lecture and group work; online stab lab problems help you figure stuff out; 4 tests; 1 cumulative final. overall not bad at all
Mr. Flowers is a nice guy, but not a great teacher. He read word for word off the power points and if you asked questions he didn't explain anything. I am not very good at math or stats anyways but this really wasn't good for me. So I dropped the class. He gives a ton of homework and 4 test that count 15% of your grade EACH!! Hated this class...
He was very nice but his lectures were dry. If you're easily bored good luck but overall not a bad course
This class was very hard. I excel in math and I would consider it my best subject. However, In some of the more challenging areas os of this course, Mr. Ken was not very helpful, and he made me feel bad about myself. He often laughed when questions were asked. I managed to make an A due to extreme hard work, over 30 hrs studying, for the final.
Professor Flowers is very helpful in and out of class. He provides fill in the blank notes for every chapter that are very easy to follow along with and study. The quizzes are group work and they are done in class, and he encourages you to work on homework with people and ask him questions. I am terrible at math, but this class came easy to me.
He is nice and will help if you ask for it, but won't answer directly. Will make you think about it and let you come to the answer. Lots of homework that takes a long time to complete, notes are fill in the blank, tests are difficult (since it was online from COVID tests were online too- not enough time allowed for amount of questions), study A LOT
Get ready for lots of work and studying. Definitely one of the hardest classes Ive taken so far. Overall, he seems to be a good professor and was always ready and willing to help and answer questions and provided valuable feedback.
His tests carry so much weight in his class that it is ridiculous. I had an A+ in the class and made a B on one test and it dropped my grade to a B. He doesn't teach anything either. He just gives homework and expects you to teach yourself.
If you arent good at math do not take this class. You pretty much have to teach yourself everything. His test count for so much. If you dont get an A on every test your screwed.
I taught myself this entire course. I should have been paid honestly. You have tons of homework, and during class you just do more work. He doesn't answer questions directly, which is confusing. He doesn't lecture at all. He just throws work at you and expects you to know how to do it, with no instruction. Such a terrible experience.
Honestly reading the other ratings for Professor Flowers kind of upset me because he is just such a nice guy and his class is so easy and you don't even have to go unless there is a test. You watch the lectures online and fill in the notes which are mostly very simple and he always answers my emails almost immediately. Definitely recommend him.
I did NOT enjoy this class. He does not teach he just post lectures online for you to follow. The homework is very difficult being that he doesn't teach in class. If you don't do well on the test you won't have a good grade in the class. The quizzes are very hard and you can't go back and review them. Would not recommend.
This class was pretty difficult for me but it could be different for someone that's better at math in general. However, Professor Flowers is really cool and wants his students to succeed. He always responds to emails and is willing to help if you ask.
You want a professor that doesn't know how to answer his own questions? Take him! Doesn't teach, corse content doesn't even make sense to the learning center tutors, and will straight up just be rude to you over email showing how little he cares. His tests don't hold up to the material you 'learn.'. He makes them way harder then necessary.
There is a lot of homework but if you did the homework the test were pretty straight foward
genuinely the worst teacher I have ever had. He had no idea what he was teaching and had to tell me to google it or ask a friend. My roommate took the same course with another professor and her content was 100 times easier than mine. You go to class and all the students teach each other and you turn in group work. Very unclear when things are due
He does not care for his students. He is so disrespectful when you are just trying to ask for help. He does not cooperate at all and always believes he is in the right. He straight up told me to drop his course when I was just attempting to get credit for work I completed. I DON'T recommend. If this class is not required for you DON'T TAKE IT!
This man does not care about his students. I failed the class after working with him all semester in office hours, SI sessions, and the learning center. I tried so hard to succeed but he made it impossible. There is so much HW and so many quizzes and tests. He sucks do not take his class or any class with a flipped classroom at GCSU.
If you have the chance, leave his class. He barely helps students out when they don't understand something and he doesn't teach the subject. He automatically expects you to know everything and you have like 2 or 3 assignments due before you even get in the classroom.
Professor Flowers is disrespectful to his students and makes them feel belittled when trying to learn the material. He does not provide much help in regard to learning the material. All of his lectures are online which means you come to class prepared to do groupwork which is not him teaching and helping. I would not recommend this class!
Did not like his teaching style. He does a flip classroom, so you basically have to teach yourself. He did not show care towards the students.
Professor Flowers is outstanding. He wants students to succeed in his class, and is one of the most approachable people I know at GCSU. His tests are challenging, but if you study the material, you will be fine. Professor Flowers is fair, honest, and grades extremely fast. I would gladly take his class for a higher level of math!
His class is very test heavy, so if you want to do well, it's important to aim for a C or higher on all tests, since your grade mostly depends on the tests. There were lots of HW and CW and while the tests make up most of the grade, the tests are like the HW and CW, and doing well on the CW and HW can help prepare you better for the tests.
While this class was easy, it was incredibly time-consuming. My class operated on a "flipped classroom" where you watch lectures outside class, and come to class to do homework. I did not like this as my major requires lots of class time and I don't have much time outside of class to spend watching lectures. Don't take this if you like free time.
This course was awful, it being a hybrid course and the fact that you never get to be taught anything from the professor truly makes it difficult to handle. His help is very unhelpful and he is constantly peppering you with work. He seemed to care about my troubles in the course but it did not impact my learning at all.
I got a good grade in this class but it was all by teaching myself. Flowers never seemed to know the material he was teaching and was extremely unhelpful when asked to answer questions on the material. The class itself was not super difficult and it is possible to learn it on your own.
Mr. Flowers was one of my favorite professors last semester. There is a good amount of outside of class work, but if you do it and understand it the class is very easy. Lets you exempt the final if you keep up with your binder so make sure that you do that and you will do just fine.
He does like no teaching. you do all of the work at your house, and when you get there he just reads slides and doesn't explain. I did well in the class, but it was because I had friends in there.
Worst professor I've ever had. Lots of homework. Doesn't teach in class, so you basically have to teach yourself. Do not recommend.
Prof. Flowers class is set up so you learn almost all of the material outside the class which sounds bad but is actually really easy if you watch his videos and follow along. The class is 1hr 15min but will never go longer than 40min. In class all we do a worksheet which he gives great feedback on.
A completely flipped classroom doesn't answer questions you ask with a straight answer. Tests are the major grade, no teaching in a class basically have to teach yourself the formulas and how to solve problems. Would not take again.
His whole class is pretty much online, and it sucks. You also have to spend an hour in the math lab where tutors teach you what he is too lazy to do. The tests are hard but there are practice quizzes before them that are basically the tests so study those and you'll do fine. An A is possible just not worth all the effort that comes with his class.
This class is hybrid, so you end up teaching yourself EVERYTHING. Not Dr. Flowers's fault. With that in mind, I do not like Dr. Flowers! It doesn't seem like he cares for his students at all. Whenever you ask for help he does not help at all. However, this class is doable if you do the work and attend every class.
i had flowers for intro to math models. he was an interesting teacher. if you don't like a flipped classroom or can't handle one, i DO NOT recommend picking him as your teacher. he is a mainly paper-based teacher who relies heavily on the math emporium. in class, it was a struggle to get a straight answer out of him, he doesn't teach AT ALL.
He did not say one math-related thing to me the entire time. Content is mostly online, if you pay attention to homework/videos assigned you will be okay. I wish I took this class online over the summer instead because I would have achieved the same thing. He does not lecture and you are mostly just on your own.
This class is completely flipped, so you do all of your notes, assignments, and homework outside of class. This is not his fault, but it is super frustrating because you teach yourself everything. The tests are just like the review quiz which is really nice and the work is not too bad if you stay on top of it.
I didn't like him as a professor, he stressed me out so badly, that I regretted taking his class. If he helped us understand the material instead of posting internet videos and expecting us to know new material in two days would be helpful. I didn't learn a lot, I just paid to be criticized harshly. A pro is he removes one of your lowest grades.
This class is difficult but he is easily accessible outside of class and there are many opportunities for si sessions. There is group work in every class. The homework normally isn't super difficult and doesn't take long. There are three tests total but he also drops a few hw grades at the end so the class is easy to do well if you try.
This class is easy if you stay on top of assignments and homework. He gives you notes to complete before class and then in class you do group work that he will help you with. He makes you keep all of your notes in a binder and if your binder is complete by every test then you can exempt the final.
This class is a flipped class, so all work is done outside of class and you go to class for group work. This class is not hard itself but it takes lots of work. I would not take this class if you have hard classes at the same time.
Ken Flowers should not still be employed. I've never seen someone do less in a semester of school. You have to do everything on your own, and he explains nothing during class. I asked him 1 question the entire semester, and his response was "I think that's right" and it ended up being wrong. Fire Ken Flowers immediately.
I ended up dropping his class because of the flip classroom set-up. Ken Flowers is an absolute joke of a professor. Every week you have to watch his 20+ minute lectures BEFORE class, take notes, do the assigned homework, and then go to class where you work with other students to complete the class work. He sits there and doesn't do a thing.
Professor Flowers is very good with answering questions during class and is very accessible outside of class. He is also very leniant with deadlines if you let him know before the deadline. Attendance isn't mandatory as long as you get the group work and can enter it on Pearson. Everything related to the class is pretty much on Pearson- MyMathLab.
There's a mandatory system to pay for, and before each class you have to watch a video and take guided notes for it, then when you get to class you do group work practicing the material. I liked this structure but it's not for everyone. You have to be in class each day bc the work has to be turned in at the end of class and it's paper.
This is a flipped classroom meaning its an online class which I was not aware of until the first week. It super nice having an online class however I can't teach myself math so I struggled with this class. The teacher does absolutely nothing. The math is easy in general but having to learn it online by urself is actually impossible. DROP this class
The class requires lots of work outside of class, but with the help of Unstuckstudy and the professor's feedback, you can nail it. Stay on top of the assignments and use the optional final exemption to your advantage.
don't. even. try. to. pass.
I took quantitative reasoning last year with him...somehow his teaching has gotten worse. You only do tests and groupwork in class, everything else is self-taught. If you ask questions about the material, he makes it more confusing. DO NOT TAKE. I made the mistake of choosing him instead of waiting for the other available professor next semester.
I've had him twice now, I really like him. It's a flipped classroom so everything is self taught which makes it hard at times but just ask questions. Everything is on Pearson. Requires a lot of work outside of class but as long as you stay on top of it, it's not really difficult. If math is hard for you, his flipped classroom is not a smart move.
It makes me sad seeing bad reviews for Ken. He was super nice, it was just a flipped classroom so he didn't do a lot of teaching. I did decent on the tests (70's) and pretty good on the online stuff and ended with a B. He is so nice and tries his best to help but people just don't go to his class at all and it makes me sad.
I really enjoy Professor Flowers. most of his classes are flipped classes so you really have to put in effort. most of the things online you can redo until you get a grade you like. it is just groupwork in classtime so pick a strong group. he is helpful in class and office hours.
Profesor Flowers was an awful professor. He assigns loads of homework and group work instead of actually teaching and helping his students. He is a good person but you can obviously tell that he does not want to be there and doesn't want to teach the actual subject. I would not recommend.
A nice guy, but should NOT be a professor. In class you get in groups and complete worksheets as he walks around and answers questions. EVERY WEEK after class you have to go to the math lab for an hour, which is literal hell. I finished this class with a 70 and was just proud that I passed.
All of the actual learning is done outside of class with prerecorded lectures. Each class was 'group work' where you'd be expected to use whatever you taught yourself to complete an assignment. You could ask him for help during class but usually his response was 'refer to the notes'
Sorry excuse for a professor. Literally does not do his job. I have no idea what I pay him to do. He forces you to pay for an online textbook where you will be doing all your work, which does 100% of his job. Does not even teach the online lecture videos you watch on your own. Infuriating to take his class, not that hard, just frustrating as heck.
Class was all online, other than the friggin packets yo. Some kids don't learn like that they learn face face and if that's you I would not recommend this class.
His classroom is flipped, meaning that you watch his lectures at home and do homework in class. This just means he is too lazy to teach and can continue to use his online lessons from Covid. Only good thing is that you can do your homework before class and show him you have it completed, and you can just leave.
Took his classs learned nothing. He relies on Pearson to teach students.
The class overall wasn't hard. I had to learn everything myself through the videos. I ended up in the mathlab almost two hours a week doing homework and getting help from the tutors. He allows unlimited attempts for homework and two takes for quizzes and drops your four lowest grades. Tests are very similar to homework and quiz questions.
Honestly: When I saw this guys reviews I was like "oh well." I will admit it does suck that everything is through pearson/a lot of work, but it really is an easy a. If you ask him literally anything he will help you out. Also a really nice guy, He also lets you exempt the final, and ways are different depending on your semester (aka random).
flowers is completely unhelpful and i don't understand why he is employed. i could have taken the course without a professor and it wouldn't have made a difference. instead of teaching, he assigns work that he himself doesn't have to grade.
Professor Flowers is super nice and super helpful. The majority of this class is online through Pearson. Class is once a week and attendance is not mandatory. The tests are in the math lab and are about an hour and a half long on Pearson. Every week you are required to attend the math lab for an hour. Know TI-84 calculator!
If I could give Ken Flowers a 0, I would. The material itself isn't too hard, but he does not teach one bit. It is all online, and you have to teach yourself everything. Pearson teaches the class for him. There is an insane amount of work each week. Please dont take.
This man was praying on my downfall. I hated this class with a passion. Does not even deserve a 1/10. DONT TAKE.
If you want to develop mental illness, this is the class for you. he should not be employed, not a good person, not a good teacher, not a good grader, not even somewhat decent. if you are registered for this class, go ahead and register for therapy as well. if this class is your only option, transfer to a different university. .
Flowers does not teach at all. He claims that students will do better in a flipped classroom, and continues to do nothing to help them.
Dude is actually the worst professor at Georgia College. I put hilarious under the class tag because it is hilarious he is employed.
Want to confirm all reviews are right- don't take him. He doesn't teach and claims that most of his students “love” the flipped classroom. No we don't. His lectures are hell to watch and then there's SO MUCH work outside of it. MyStatLab literally is the course. There's nothing else. Don't take him and save yourself the stress.
This is a flipped class so be prepared to do most of the learning and work on your own. Overall he's a good professor but I'm not the biggest fan of graphs which is most of the coursework. As long as you do the homework and do the practice quizzes before the tests you should do good. He gives you a chance to skip the final so take advantage of it.
Gotta be the worst professor on this campus. Online lectures so he can be lazy and avoid doing his job
I would give a 0 if I could. I have a strong math background, and this is the first time I've been lost in math. All his lectures are videos with fill-in-the-blank notes. He is not the most helpful with questions, you'll have better luck asking the SI. He drops a decent number of grades at the end of the year to make up for some hard assignments.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. He is mean and does not want to see you succeed !!!
I truly hate that Professor Flowers gets so many bad reviews. To be fair, he was polite and always helped whenever you raised your hand. But the work was difficult and excessive: there were 5 assignments per week. And as the reviews say, he doesn't teach. And he always put his office hours right before his next class, so he was always in a hurry.
If flipped classrooms are your thing than this is the class for you...we have one lecture once a week that isn't required and a ton of outside of class work. It's not super hard but definitely not a class you can slack in, you have to be 100% accountable for yourself.
Professor Flowers is truly such a nice man. The course can be work-heavy, but it is very doable. It seems like a lot at first, but once you learn to pace yourself, it is not that bad. His attendance is not mandatory and he lets you retake the test if you need it as long as you show up for class! Most of the content can be learned easily if you try.
People freak out when they realize this class is mainly online and you only meet in person once a week. But he literally tells you in the first week that you'll learn the material all online so if you know you won't learn well like that, obviously drop the class. If you have questions, he is always so nice about answering them and helping you out.
okay... everyone disses on him a little. but if you enjoy learning a week at a time on your own schedule/pace, this is for you. its all on pearson, you get notes, practices, quizzes, and tests. one hr math lab... really not all that bad... genuinely nice guy, make sure to do your practice tests! put the damn work in!
This class was an excessive amount of work and he does not explain anything in class. If you are not naturally good at math, this class will be a struggle for you. Goodluck to those who are forced to have him, may the odds be ever in you favor!
Professor flowers has to be the single most over hated teacher I've ever had. He's super nice and willing to help, and the only reason people don't like him is because most of the work is done outside the class, as it is a "flipped classroom". Still, the work is all super easy if you just keep up with it and go to class and ask questions.
The entirety of the class is online and he sucks.
If I could give him negative reviews I would. This class genuinely made my life hell, and you will spend at least 3 hours in the math lab a week. He does not care what happens in your life, if you miss an assignment even by thirty minutes, he won't take it. Do not take this class, ESCAPE HIM IF YOU CAN.Ken Flowers will make you hate your life.
The class gets lots of hate because it is online, however the class is a flipped class meaning it is online. The work is not that bad if you keep up with it. Every week it is a few papers, online homework, and a quiz every few weeks. There are 3 test and final is not mandatory. He gives second chances on test if you do the binder or attendance.
He uses a flipped classroom and claims it is easier but in reality you need to be taught math in person. The test are insanely hard and nothing can help prepare you. You go to class for 10 mins to do group work and he does nothing but sit at his desk.
class is fully online- attendance is not mandatory, so take it if you can teach yourself. he does give second attemps on tests if you attend class or keep notes though. would not take again but some people do well.
He completely makes the class online which would be nice if there was not 10 assignments a week out of class. He will not help you answer questions even if you show up to class. Not understanding whatsoever. If you make it out with passing you are lucky because there is no way u can pass without at least studying 20 hours a week.
While he isn't mean- his class is an absolute waste of time and the way his class is formatted will not help anyone actually learn the content. Allegedly everyone "enjoys" the flipped classroom but I don't think I've heard anyone say that. With all that being said he is a nice person and it's hard to hate him because he's just a dude.
While Ken is a nice guy he has no respect for anyones life. I emailed him about a family emergency and that I would not be able to show him my binder for the 2nd attempt on a test and he only gave me 30 mins to submit a picture of every paper in the binder. This wouldn't be a problem, but I was in the hospital next to my grandmother. Embarrassing.
idk tbh. The content wasn't hard for me, but the amount of assignments was a bit much. On average, there are two or three sections of material (ex, 1.1, 1.2) and a notes assignment and reading assignment for each. Not only that, an online homework assignment for each. Then a quiz for the week. Everything is done through Pearson.
this man should not have a job, does not teach you anything and gives you online videos that aren't even him. nice guy but does not need to be a teacher
