Dr. Hanson is very enthusiastic about Jewish people!! He is a great guy who knows his stuff well and is willing to help you if you ever need anything. Lets you make a notecard for 2 tests and term paper isn't hard.

Great class and wonderful teacher. As a history major especially, I learned and retained more in this class than any other in my college experiance. A bit heavy on reading material, but most everything on tests is covered in class notes. Don't skip class!

Dr. Hanson is a really nice guy. He is very knowledgeable about Jewish history. The class is long and can get boring after awhile. If you are studying religion, take this class, if not, don't take it.

Class and subject is extremely boring but Hanson is a pretty nice guy. If your not a jewish studies major or minor i wouldnt recc. the class. It is a pretty easy A though, its just boring. He kinda thinks that everyone is jewish in the class which is funny cause im not. our final was take home.

Extremely easy class. Take it for entertainment! I think he's a freelance actor because his class is so popular. Nice guy. Always smiling. Learn lots of cool stuff about Jewish people and history.

This guy is pretty good, however, watch out when he gives exam reviews. For the mid term, everything he said in class was on the mid term. For the final, only about half was on the test. He forgot to mention the other half, so study ALL your notes each test as a safeguard.

I took several of his courses and will continue to take him. His teaching methods are very entertaining and easy to understand. I def. reccomend him!

A downright inspirational professor. This guy's a serious scholar, and you'll realize that once you sit through a couple of his lectures. I'm not a Jewish Studies major, but believe me, this guy knows what he's talking about! Took this class as a diversity course, and now I'm considering taking part 2 of the course. Very educational class. Take it!

Doctor Hanson is very entertaining and he is an excellent speaker. He is very interesting and his lectures are captivating. He's not an easy A; there's a big paper at the end of the semester that requires a lot of research. He's awesome!

Dr. Hanson absolutely rocks in every sense of the term. You may have seen this professor on the History Channel excitedly explaining secrets from the Bible. Hanson stimulated soo much interest in this course, my only complaints were with the annoying Jewish American Princesses who made snide comments all class. My favorite teacher at UCF!

Keep the covenant. Make him happy and you'll make him happy. If you're the type that studies and only misses a question when you have a real reason too(like indications from the not or book) Then, you want to take the class. He's fun. Only one big research paper, 2 tests, and the exam.

Great professor, class is easy to pass as long as you show up and pay attention. His only fault is that he only offers three classes per semester!

Great proffesor... makes the class intersting, hates to grade the class but he does what he must, the project was a bad idea though... to many people ina group, if you are a decent student you should do fine..

I've had Hanson for Dead Scrolls, History of the Holocaust, Book of Job, and Moderm Hebrew Culture. He's a great teacher. Midterm, Final, Semester-Long Research Paper, Issues List. That's it. Come to class, do your work, you'll get at least a B.

Hanson is a great teacher. I swore I was gonna get a C in Book of Job, but somehow I got an A!!! The midterm and final were tough but there's a research paper and issues list that will boost your grade if you try hard. And coming to class helps. BRING FOOD! If you do, he'll love you forever! That's his weakness.

Great guy! Took summer A class and he only required you to show up for the tests. Test reviews he went over every question and we graded the tests in class. If there was a question most of us missed he threw it out. I highly recommend taking his classes!

Dr. Hanson is great! While the Holocaust is a difficult subject to study, Dr. Hanson makes the class easy. We had 1 midterm, 1 final and a semester long research paper (8 or 9 pages). The exams are 50 questions, multiple choice (very easy if you study). If you want him to be happy, BRING YOUR BOOKS TO CLASS!!

There's a midterm, final, research paper and issue list every class. Usually pretty easy. If you do the work you'll get at least a B, if you care you'll get an A. If you bring food and diet mountain dew you get major brownie points. He lets you have a notecard on exams. Knows what he's talking about. Probably my favorite professor!

Professor Hanson is amazing, I took his class to have a full schedule, now i am getting a minor is Judaic Studies because he makes it so interesting! Can't wait to take him next semester...He is a teacher who makes the class enjoyable and does not try to suck the life out of you!

Awesome class, I had no idea what I was getting into when I registered for the course. I know so much now about the Dead Sea Scrolls it's unbelievable. He may be perhaps the best professor I have had in my college career.

Quirky&fun I dnt like history but he made most of it interesting enough to swallow Never read any of the books assigned, took great notes that I converted into flashcards to study and got a 98 on the test B4 he put a curve. Curve is generous,& he doesn't expect perfection on the term paper. Always helpful,overall easy class, not bad material either

Absolutely one of the most great scholars UCF has! He gave great insight of the Holocaust. He's very clear and willing to help. He does take attendance. I didn't read all the books, however, the books DO help understand the material and give deeper insight. 3 tests (he reviews before each one) and one 5-page paper. EASY!

I felt completely lost at first but he did a great job explaining everything and giving great insight. I definitely feel like I learned a lot. There was 1 test, 1 research paper (5pgs), and 1 issues list (3pgs). BUY BOOKS, it'll help understand the subject more. Bring refreshments! He gets swept off his feet when ppl bring food on test days :)

Easy tests and you can do an academic issues list or a 6 page research paper. he is very lenient with his students and also his grading. i would take this professor again in a heartbeat.

Dr. Hanson makes it a very interesting subject and is super lenient with grading. He's funny and loves all Judaic studies courses. Allowed a notecard for tests, write down everything from slides(easy to do), research paper isn't hard, tests aren't bad I only studied the night before and never got below a 92. Highly recommend. Hope to take him again

Hanson is a very knowledgeable professor. Weird, very weird. But he knows what he's talking about. If you pay attention in lectures, you'll pass. His review lecture is basically the exam, verbatim.

Dr. Hanson is the most engaging and passionate professor I have ever had the privilege and honor to be taught by. He is very articulate about what he presents and makes the "learning engagement" fun while personally enlightening. If the scholars who taught were as committed to teaching, their would be more "Einstein and Newton's" in this world.

Took Dr. Hanson for Social Justice and the Prophets online. Very organized with a quiz and one discussion per week (very short like tweets). One 8-page essay at the end of the semester. He challenges you to think like a scholar. If you took an AP history class in high school, he's perfect for you. Funny and engaging in his online lectures.

Dr. H did an amazing job creating an online version of this course. His videos are fabulous, and weekly tweet discussions are fun. The only issue was the 10-question weekly quizzes. I had to hand write each entire video, word for word on paper, highlighting important points. Then I'd watch the video again and I'd still get 1 or 2 wrong sometimes.

Professor Hanson is a great teacher, and his lectures really are a great learning tool, all the information you may need for quizzes, test and discussions are sourced in his videos (which are quite enjoyable). Simply put watch his lessons and take notes and its a breeze. Minimal paper assignments but weekly discussions that are very engaging.

Dr. Hanson is amazing! He worked with me to stay on track & even allowed me to work ahead with my daughter being born in September. He helped me stay on track so I could still graduate in the fall. His lecture videos are engaging and fun, with a ton of great material. As long as you study, you will pass! Caring & funny professor!

Dr. Hanson is knowledegable and wants you to think. He tries to keep you thinking. Do not go over his 40 character discussion request. If you take him heed that warning. Watch the video several times because his quizzes are timed as well as his tests.

Seriously the best professor I've had. His approach to academics is actually interesting rather than stiff and boring. I could see how he isn't for everyone, but I loved this class. He really makes you think about the broader scope of the course. Graded on weekly quizzes and discussions, a final paper, a cumulative exam, and an academic issue list.

Professor Hanson is fluent in Hebrew and expects a base level of understanding from students. If you do not know the cursive Hebrew alefbet going in, he will not teach you it. Half the class is going to be fluent already and just looking for an easy credit fill. He is a funny, entertaining professor but the class can be frustrating.

Dr. Hanson is very passionate about his teaching. He cares about you learning the material, and he always makes you think. Please make sure you read his directions on the discussion posts. He wants a smooth flow with the posts and does not like them lengthy. Pay attention to the videos and read the assigned readings. You will pass with no problem!

Look. Like any language teacher this man is crazy. Yes he has done blackface, yes he says insane things regarding the current war, yes he will start singing and get off track in class. Should you take him? Not if you don't speak Hebrew or have a HEAVY base understanding of the language. He will not teach from the ground up. Good luck :)

Dr. Hanson is a great professor in the Dead Sea Scrolls and other Judaic texts and history. However, he might take some things personal. Especially if you confront him with ADONAI'S Word. He also talks about Kabballah so be careful in that area. Besides that he's a great professor.

Easily one of the best professors I've had. Covers a lot of material efficiently without it feeling overwhelming. Definitely quirky, but very engaging, with a genuine passion for student learning. Incredibly fast grader, which is greatly appreciated. Truly cares that students connect with the material. Highly recommend taking any class he teaches!

Hands down the best professor I have had in my academic path. I am a senior at UCF and have had many teachers. The videos this teacher makes are insightful, funny, and interesting. He answers right away to emails. He challenges the students ideas in the feedback. He grades quickly, so you know where you stand in his class. Amazing professor.

I have taken three of Dr. Hanson's classes and loved them all. He is one of the few online professors that does videos. They are entertaining, and they keep your attention. If you need visuals to learn this class is for you. He also doesn't like long winded discussion posts. He is a great guy, too!
